I picked up a new book (literally NEW, was just released today) and though im only halfway through, it's really good!
The Teller of Small Fortunes. It's a light fantasy novel about Tao, an immigrant fortune teller, trying to get away from her past. She makes acquaintances, and then friends, with a few folks and they journey together.
I'll probably make another post when I'm done, but so far I'm enjoying it. The characters feel very alive, and I'm invested in each of their stories

Took a little longer than I thought, but I finished The Teller of Small Fortunes and y'all? It was so fucking good
If you enjoy cozy fantasy that will keep you entertained from page 1 to page 322, this is the book for you. Leong did a wonderful job of building up this world, creating characters that I really cared about, and telling a story I wanted to read forever. My only complaint is that I want to know more about the magic! We only met a handful of mages throughout the book, each with quite unique talents. If she ever publishes another book in the same universe, I will definitely be buying it day one. Again.
Also shout out to Tao, the main character, for being an aroace icon. Leong has said she didn't mean for her to be, but as she wrote it just happened. It's not a major theme in the book or anything, but there's a particular conversation that really cements it
As always, I'm a sucker for a happy ending, and this one left me feeling warm inside
