Non ttc related extremely emotional long rant:
Today is the year-to-date anniversary of my father’s heart surgery, and I have never been through anything more heart wrenching. I can remember every single detail crystal clear, and I’ve had to relive it countless times telling my father what happened, because he remembers nothing.
The night before his surgery, I laid in my father’s arms. A full grown woman, my father held me. We didn’t cry. I wasn’t letting it be sad. He held me, and told me stories of my childhood.
The morning my parents picked me up to ride up with them was the most terrifying ride of my life. The entire time I kept thinking “my father could die today. my father could die today.” When they took him through the waiting room doors and I sat alone in that room, waiting for my brother I thought “this may be the last time I ever see my father walk.”
Not many people know their lasts. I was keeping every single thing he did locked in my memory, just Incase. His voice saying “I love you” rang in my ears.
I remember being called back. My aunt tried to stand in front of me, and I pushed her out of my way and pulled my (then) fiancé to my side. “We are his children. You are only his through marriage. Let me see my dad.” It was the first time I had ever seen my father scared. Panic rose to my throat and I wanted to vomit, right there, on the surgical blanket that covered him.
I fought back tears. I don’t know how. I held his hand and said, “I love you daddy.” Until he said “I love you too, Squirt.” My childhood nickname. The only thing I wanted to hear from him. My family bowed their heads and prayed. My aunt laid her hand on my back. I erupted in silent tears. I wiped my eyes when they said amen, gave my dad a huge smile and said
“You look funny without any leg hair, dad.”
We gave hugs, I kissed his sun leathered skin. I remembered he didn’t always smell like antiseptic. And we followed him down the corridor until we weren’t allowed to. I stood at the elevator until I heard it click back into place.
And then I cried. I cried so hard, so long. I cried so hard I puked. I wandered the hospital until 11:55am. They took him back at 12:00pm. I stood in the waiting room with everyone else as they came out and said they’d started. I went into the hall and called my childhood best friend. I didn’t say anything, I just cried.
I got an entire waiting room to myself, and I just sat. I read a book, I scrolled social media. Anytime the doctor started going to the other waiting room, I’d get up and be there, first. They took him off bypass, and then we had no other updates. Two updates we were supposed to get, we never got.
Surgery was supposed to be done at 5:00pm. It was done at 3:00pm. “Four people can go back only.”
My mom, me, my brother and my aunt. No. You are not as important as my fiancé. My fiancé will go and you will sit in your seat.
No one told me what to do. At that moment, I didn’t care I was the baby of the family. I was his daughter. My family mattered, most.
We went and saw him. I can still see him. He was puffy, and a tube was down his throat. The doctor said “your family is here!” He wiggled his fingers. I told him I loved him, he nodded his head. A single tear rolled down his cheek. A tear of pain, the first tear I’d ever seen on my dad. Even though his mom had died years ago, I never saw him cry until then.
Later I heard my aunt say when she saw him, she asked if he was in pain and he nodded. I dreamt about that when I went home. I woke up bawling.
I told him that I’d gotten over my fear of driving on I-75 for him. I asked if he was proud. He nodded. The tube got removed. He woke up a little more.
“I wish I wouldn’t of ever even done this.”
I erupted. Angry, angry, angry.
“So that one day we would’ve just found you dead, dad? Found that your valve had enough and failed? Had to live our lives without you?! Taken yourself from me, from mom, from your grandchildren?!”
The nurse came in and asked if everything was okay. It wasn’t, my dad was talking nonsense and I left. When I came back later, he didn’t remember any of it. He still doesn’t.
On the drive home that night, I had to pull over because the alarm I had sent went off. The alarm was his 48 hour mark. The doctor said as long as he made it through his first 48 hours, he’d survive. I sobbed into my steering wheel. A police officer pulled in behind me, my four-ways blinking and came to my window.
He asked me if I was okay. The best I’d ever been, my dad had just survived open heart surgery. He congratulated me, and told me to take all the time I need.
I went home and cleaned my parents house. Three days later, he came home.
We watched him get better. I cleaned his wounds. Gave him a shot. Did his pills.
He reminded me I wouldn’t be taking care of him for long.
And I didn’t. September came, he walked me down the aisle at my wedding. Winter passed and summer came, and he was doing yard work.
I am so proud of him. I am so grateful for him. I still take advantage of him, but god do I know. I am not ready to lose my father. I never will be, but having that little taste makes every single argument and annoying thing he does now so worth it.
So, very worth it.

The new version of Hysek’s square-case Furtif is powered by a new, 100%-manufacture calibre, the Hysek Furtif Squelette. Boasting the ultimate in skeletonisation, the piece’s meticulous design and finishings gleam and sparkle as never before. The charbonnage finish on the movement, performed in-house by hand, will make every watch unique.
Hysek Furtif Squelette Blue
While it is also to be known as a ‘Furtif’ – a reference to the bevelled-edge geometry characterising the collection – the name is perhaps the only thing this new model has in common with its illustrious forebears: everything else is radically new, bespoke, and created with the aim of producing nothing but unique, customisable timepieces.
A shaped movement featuring extreme skeletonisation
Hysek is probably one of the last remaining fully-independent manufactures to be developing and assembling ‘shaped’ calibres, as they are known. Now almost wholly extinct, these calibres are designed to mirror the shape of the case they are housed in. For the new Furtif 44 mm Squelette, the movement is a perfect square – a design by legendary watchmaker Laurent Besse, who joined the Hysek manufacture in 2018.
Furtif Movement HW34
Boasting 172 components and 24 jewels, this new HW34 calibre thus offers a layout optimised for the square proportions of the Furtif with its 44 mm sides. The aim is to achieve total transparency; light passes right through the Furtif 44 Squelette. Each component has been hollowed out as much as is humanly possible without losing its rigidity, so as to allow light to shine right into the heart of the movement – perpetuating Hysek’s characteristically extreme skeletonisation, now one of its hallmarks.
An assertive brand identity
Connoisseurs will also spot other features that have helped forge the brand’s identity. These include the layout of the 1, 5, 7, and 11-hour markers, serving once again as cardinal points around which the HW34 calibre has been arranged. At 1 o’clock, there is the seconds’ wheel. At 5 o’clock sits the barrel, providing a 45-hour power reserve. Its bridges, suspended in mid-air, stretch all the way to 7 o’clock. And last but by no means least, the escapement is located at 11 o’clock, beating at a rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
Hysek Furtif Squelette Purple
The design of each wheel required for this exceptional movement to operate features three double spokes, providing perfect technical and aesthetic balance – as well as being a recurring style signature for Hysek.
In addition, for this specific model, each bridge of the HW34 movement has been individually designed to add a greater sense of depth to the watch. No fewer than five bridges have been individually crafted: the balance wheel, seconds hand, barrel, centre wheel, and intermediate wheel bridges. The geometry of each is unique, designed specifically with its function and position in mind.
Hysek Furtif Squelette Rose Gold and Titanium
More highlights, greater depths: the art of decoration
Every single decorative component has been designed exclusively for this model. To ensure the light reveals as rich a composition as possible, Hysek has worked on both the depth and the finish of its movement.
Depth has been attended to by creating many different layers, ranging from the time set mechanism (the deepest, almost invisible from the dial side) to the upper bridge that gives the entire calibre its rigidity. The sense of depth is accentuated by alternating engraved surfaces (such as the minute circle) and relief effects (such as the appliqué hour markers).
Furtif Movement HW34
The finish, meanwhile, is a feat of subtle complexity. The aim is to maximise brightness whilst avoiding dazzle. To achieve this, Hysek has chosen a horizontal satin finish for the inner frame of the case (the timepiece does not have a flange), while the bridges have been given a vertical or circular satin finish. The gold hour markers are appliqué, whereas the minute circle is engraved.
Each timepiece will be unique
The most distinctive feature is visible on the movement’s square chassis, running all around the case: a ‘charcoaled’ finish. The charbonnage technique in question is hardly ever used in watchmaking, but Hysek has chosen to give it pride of place here. It involves applying a stick of a specific type of charcoal, by hand, leaving a unique pattern and forming an extremely soft, gentle abrasion that brings out all the highlights of the surface.
Four different options are available for the painstakingly lengthy and detailed movement finish: anthracite, rhodium-plated, blue, or violet, together with a choice of titanium and gold, titanium and PVD, or titanium cases. Gold, titanium, or titanium/PVD plates will be inserted in the frames.
Hysek Furtif Squelette Full Black
Limited to…Infinity
Bearing in mind the various customisation options for the pieces – even before taking into account any engravings that may be added on the inserts – Hysek has engraved a very special motto on its new Furtif 44 mm Squelette: “Limited to… Infinity”. Indeed, no two will ever be alike.

Tumblr media
A new multi media campaign called Crystals As Crowns recently launched in Toronto. It’s a groundbreaking black youth resilience media campaign seeking to reduce negative conceptions of self and low self-esteem among black and racialized youth. The campaign includes  empowering imagery of youth in control of their futures and rooted in a self-determined imagination, the “Crystal Mind.”
Featuring videos directed by Hyghly Alleyne (The Weeknd / XO) this campaign highlights 10 youth influencers from 10 diverse communities across the GTA (including Jamestown, Rexdale, Black Creek, Jane-Finch, Chester Le, Flemingdon Park, Crescent Town, Mount Dennis, Kingston-Galloway, Crown Point and Jamesville) and Hamilton and highlights their stories of resilience and how they’ve overcome barriers and life challenges.Through poster ads on the TTC, social media videos and radio PSAs, this campaign will reach over 32,000 black youth in the GTA and Hamilton and over 530,000 people across Ontario.
One of those influencers shared how he defied his own odds and why he wanted to be involved with this campaign.
My name is Q Tyler Aarons-Montague. I am the first born of 9 children. Growing up in various low income areas of Toronto an entrepreneurial mind was always an asset for me. It helped keep me out of trouble and allowed me to express my need to help those around me. In fact every venture I started was rooted in helping other people. From the age of 12 I did babysitting, dog walking, shoveling snow, odd jobs. Typical things a young person can do in their neighbourhood to make money.
As I aged my ambitions evolved, I started seeing new problems that could be solved and started flexing my creative muscles to come up with solutions.
At the ripe old age of 15 I started a company called Books By Kids For Kids. It was a fun and interactive way to get kids more interested in reading and writing. By using writing prompts and images to help them tell and share stories, they could connect with other youth and build a network of books made by kids for kids to enjoy. My main goal was to help build reading and writing comprehension in low income neighbourhoods where literacy is often not the focus. Sadly it failed. I did not have the resources and guidance as a 16 year old to make it a reality. So the website was closed, books were canceled and I was on to the next thing.
Fast forward and I am now 17.  I am helping elderly folk in my neighbourhood with odd jobs. Everything from cleaning, moving and lawn work, to business development consulting, social media and networking advice. Tyler’s Odd Jobs serviced a large area of Scarborough and helped feed my desire to help people. This was also the year that Body by Chosen had come to Chester Le and were giving free classes to youth on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
It changed everything.
I started training with calisthenic athletes in my neighbourhood. These guys pushed me so hard and they sparked something in me. They showed me that you can use fitness as a way to give back to communities. That same year my best friend’s mom told me that I have the type of personality that would be good for life coaching and that I should pursue it. Then it clicked. Life coaching + fitness = personal trainer. I had the equation down and knew what I wanted to do.
I started studying Kinesiology using an open source university online and applied to college for a 2 year fitness and health promotion program. The summer before the course started is when I had the dream about Release The Beast Fitness. The dream was about a fitness company that was fun, playful, and would make movement second nature. A company that helped you feel like you were a kid again; 5 years old, running around on the playground with no worries.  A time before bills and aches and pains, and limiting beliefs. In this dream I decided to start mapping out the business plan. Peeling myself out of bed I stepped to my white board and wrote the business plan. Every step that needed to be taken to make this vision a reality flowed out of me effortlessly. It was as if someone was guiding my hand. In this state of flow something was eating at me, it didn’t feel quite right. It took a moment to decipher what this feeling was. Then it hit me. “Wake up you are still sleeping” the realization gave me a rush of energy. I jolted awake, eyes wide, alert I sprung out of bed.  Now in the real world I wrote out everything I could remember from the dream.
When I started my studies the dream got bigger, and after my studies I knew it was time to make it a reality. Release The Beast Fitness was my heart’s song guiding me down a path to help more people in a substantial way.
So what exactly is Release The Beast Fitness? It's a fitness and wellness company that strives to put you back in your skin, to ground you, while being playful, educational and fun. We strive to help you put your best foot forward in life by helping you build confidence, discipline, and self-mastery. We want to help you become more, so you have more to give back to others. We do this through Blogs, Videos, Podcasts and in-person and online-coaching.
Currently operating out of Toronto, we service folks across the globe from Italy and Chile, to Vancouver and right here at home in Toronto. RTB was launched January 1st 2018 and is steadily gaining traction in the fitness community. We recently partnered with Jack.org and are proud to announce that a percentage of every dollar earned is donated to help raise awareness and educate folks about mental health and wellness. And that is our journey so far. I am excited to see what the coming years have in store.

What To Expect Drug Detox Meth

Methamphetamine withdrawal and detox are incredibly intense, harsh, and distressing. When most people attempt to quit taking a drug, they are usually optimistic and determined to get their life back on track. The problem is that drug withdrawals are painful and they can also make a person panic and think they might die if they don’t take a little bit of the substance.
But, going to a medical detox center for professional assistance can lessen the severity of the withdrawal and detox timeline. Plus, it keeps users away from areas and people where they can easily access the drug to alleviate symptoms - how long does it take to detox from meth. In a medical detox center, patients can take safe medications to lessen the severity of methamphetamine withdrawal symptoms, instead of retaking crystal meth and preventing their body from healing itself.
Meth detox might not be easy, but the benefits of overcoming meth addiction far outweigh the negative side effects of detox. how long to detox from meth. Methamphetamine, or “meth,” can wreak havoc on the lives of those struggling with addiction. The first step in confronting meth addiction is detox, which is the process of ridding the body of an addictive substance.
Symptoms of meth detox can include:intense cravings, fatigue, depression, nausea, dehydration, headaches, anxiety, hallucinations. Symptoms begin around 24 hours after the last dose. Fatigue may set in first, followed by overwhelming feelings of depression. Meth suppresses both appetite and sleep. During initial withdrawal, people may spend most of their time catching up on food and sleep. Meth detox can take about 50 hours.
While there are no drugs that have been proven effective in removing meth from the body, drugs targeting withdrawal symptoms could help with getting through detox and maintaining long term sobriety. Treating meth withdrawal symptoms might include medications like Modafinil, a narcolepsy drug that helps regulate sleep, according to the National Institutes of Health.
How To Detox Meth Fast
Modafinil has also shown promise in alleviating the cognitive effects of meth use, such as memory loss and difficulty processing ideas. A study from The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse found the drug could help with meth addiction treatment when combined with therapy. Bupropion, commonly referred to by the brand name Wellbutrin, is an antidepressant that has also helped people quit smoking.
Bupropion could help with meth withdrawal by regulating dopamine, the brain chemical messenger that stimulates pleasure and focus. Fluoxetine, most commonly known as Prozac, is an antidepressant that is also prescribed for anxiety. The drug has shown promise with meth withdrawal in trials with mice, and it might help some people.
youtube
“Fluoxetine can benefit people suffering by helping them resolve heart problems and relieve all other depressive symptoms,” Tarugu says. Undergoing detox in a treatment facility not only provides medical supervision but also a safer environment away from drugs. “Being in a detox facility also provides a level of support and an opportunity to be out of the environment where use was happening,” Henson says.
If you or a loved one is struggling with meth addiction, we are standing by to help..
Methamphetamine (also known as “crystal meth”) is an extremely addictive drug. If a person uses it more than once or twice, they have a high chance of developing an addiction. Once a person becomes dependent, the body will go into withdrawal if they try to quit. Meth withdrawal symptoms may manifest during or after detox, which is the process of the body metabolizing and removing it.

How Long To Detox From Crystal Meth
Tumblr media
Not only is withdrawal unpleasant, but the symptoms can be dangerous to a person’s health. Medical detox makes the process safe because patients detox under the supervision of a doctor. Meth withdrawal symptoms can be physical, mental or behavioral. They can be intense, lasting for days or even weeks (what is used for meth detox). Many factors determine the length of withdrawal symptoms, including the amount of time the person has been addicted.
Symptoms begin around 24 hours after the last dose. Fatigue may set in first, followed by overwhelming feelings of depression. Many people also experience paranoia, hallucinations, anxiety and insomnia. Meth works by increasing the amount of dopamine — the neurotransmitter that controls feelings of pleasure — in the brain. When the drug is removed, dopamine drops below natural levels, and the resulting loss of enjoyment is distressing.
How To Detox From Crystal Meth
Many people who quit using meth experience this condition, called anhedonia. Anhedonia can continue for up to two years after a person stops the drug. For many, it is physiological symptoms — anhedonia and the resultant depression — that causes relapse as they seek relief from the emotional distress. The psychological dependence resulting from prolonged meth use is powerful, so the person in withdrawal will often experience an intense craving for the drug.
Meth suppresses both appetite and sleep. During initial withdrawal, people may spend most of their time catching up on food and sleep. People may gain a significant amount of weight at this time. Appetite and sleep patterns usually return to normal after a few months without meth. How long does meth withdrawal last? The three main portions of withdrawal are the crash, cravings and recovery.
It may last up to 40 weeks. Phase 1:The first 3–10 days of withdrawal is the “crash” period. This period includes a sharp decline in energy and cognitive function. Depression is common during this phase. In some cases, people will experience hallucinations, paranoia and anxiety. Cravings are typically low at this time because a person usually spends a lot of time sleeping during the crash phase.
What Is It Like To Detox From Meth
Having gotten through the initial crash, many people in the early stages of recovery start to desire the intense high that meth provides. Due to the euphoria that the drug offers, consumption is a continuous temptation. Many people feel powerless after they stop using the drug, and will seek to use it again to regain the feeling.
Phase 3:The third stage of meth withdrawal is when meth cravings begin to fade, becoming less frequent and less potent, forming an ideal opportunity to begin recovery. It is best to maintain in an environment where you are safe and have others around to help hold you accountable. This phase can last for 30 weeks and, in some cases, much longer.
Many factors affect the withdrawal experience. First, those who have taken meth for longer periods of time will usually withdraw for longer. Higher regular doses of meth affect the length of withdrawal in the same way. Personal physiology and environment are also important factors for meth withdrawal. People with substance use disorder (or family history) are likely to experience more challenges in withdrawing from methamphetamine.
It is also difficult to quit meth all at once (how long to detox from meth). This method of withdrawal is referred to as cold turkey. Many people choose to taper instead of going cold turkey, which can be safer and more comfortable. Tapering is the process of lowering the dosage slowly over time. Withdrawal symptoms are usually not fatal.
As long as the person stays hydrated and eats a balanced diet, they can combat this, especially with medical help. Medical detox is helpful for nutritional and hydration support. With trained eyes on your progress around the clock, you will be able to largely avoid any dangerous complications. Stopping meth is a challenge, and there are many risks.
What Drug Rehab Centers Help Meth Addicts
The second option is usually safer and more effective. Though it’s not impossible to stop using meth on your own, it is often more challenging - how long to detox from meth. There are also medical risks to quitting meth without medical care, depending on the level and length of addiction. Another thing to consider is the support system you have at home.
Is there a chance you’ll relapse? If you choose to get off meth without rehab, consult with your doctor or a medical professional and ensure that you have the resources and support necessary to maintain sobriety while going through withdrawal symptoms. Detoxification is a natural process by which the body rids itself of harmful substances.
