Im hoping that the story goes something more like Tsumugi realizing that he doesn't need the symbolism of the long hair anymore bc his bond with Natsume is stronger than that. And I wanna believe that's why Natsume decides to cut it for him, as like, support to show that he will always be there for him no matter what happens - that even if the strings are cut, nothing can keep them apart. That's like about the only thing I'll accept tbh.

Only way the Tsumugi haircut can not be ruining the natsumugi lore of the red string of fate is if Natsume says some gay shit about his hair being red so he should be the one growing it and promising to tie himself back to Tsumugi should their string ever break. opinion on tsumugi haircut?

I think it's really funny ive seen ppl say the haircut was done bc ppl thought the old look was ugly. Girl...? He literally was so moe with long hair. He aged 20 years with this cut and glasses... i joke, he will be my cute tsumug bug forever. Even when he's 30 and looks 70♡ no im too mean. I'll need to adjust. It's not his fault his twink death just came earlier than everyone else's... STOP sorry i just got splashed by a car in full force while watching this part of the livestream so i can be a bit teasing and mean to him... but an angel lost its wings...

Narratively i think it's really awesome that natsume is cutting his hair, tsumugi doesnt need to grow it out to mend a lost broken relationship, natsume is by his side and the thread wont break again. The promise was fulfilled. But! Only if i get 20 chapters of them talking about the past present and future... it cant just be brushed over! I would like to believe theyll do a good job? Natsumugi, much like wataei, are akira's darlings as they are mine. You cannot fuck them up... hopefully. But i understand people being apprehensive. This being said, i do not care for the opinion of anyone who isnt a switchP on the subject of this story, and even then i dont trust most fans. so… how we feeling about tsumugi haircut

COMPLICATED because a) i adore short and fluffy hair (esp if it's curly) and b) i always imagine tsumugi cutting his hair for the purpose of growing and healing (natsume's is cutting his hair so this IS significant to me, i hope it's a promise for a new beginning for a love that's already there) BUT ALSO HIS CURLS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 WE LOST AN ANGEL (his new visual sprite is so bad too, the 3d model saves it)

there's also the fact of how significant tsumugi's hair is in general, i know many are upset by this especially when HEKK is retconning things so the only way i can see myself accepting this is if they treat it with the thought it was put behind it tbh

i want it to feel like this scene in doukyuusei where that tie is insignificant because they already complete each other

everyones on that new enstars characters ass for looking absolutely horrendous But as someone who not only likes the eccentrics but also tsumugi i cant help but be enamored by his despicable outfit choice charm. full rainbow on one side of the outfit with Nice! plastered not once but TWICE on it, calling himself "Nice Arneb Thunder" with that dumbfuck vtuber looking haircut looking like a total clown but completely unaware of how awful the fit is Like im sorry but hes captivated me im afraid.

-He's very lean and has a bit of muscle but not much. He uses make-up because it calms him down

-Dark skinned, muscular, tall and has body hair

Gonta Gokuhara:

-Massive like in Canon, is cleanly shaven, has great hygiene

Ryoma Hoshi:

-Muscular, has a bit of facial hair

Korekiyo Shinguji:

-Very lean, tall yet toned. Uses makeup as well, to honor a certain someone that we don't like.

Kokichi Oma:

-He's scrawny and his natural hair is actually black and he just partially dyed it purple to look cool

Keebo:

-Nothing specific, but I'd like to imagine that his hair can actually form different haircuts

Rantaro Amami:

-Lean but a bit thick on the bottom part. He sometimes applies lipstick to himself since he likes the smell of it

Now onto the girls

Kaede Akamatsu:

-Chubby, yet tall and a bit stouty

Tsumugi Shirogane:

-Chubby too, but more on the bottom part. Her blue hair has some extensions that she can take off, to make her hair look shorter.

Miu Iruma:

-Pretty Muscular, but more strong fat (Yeah it makes no sense but I love it) She has some stretch marks on her back thanks to a quick growth spurt.

Maki Harukawa:

-Muscular, yet lean. Has sharp nails

Himiko Yumeno:

-Scrawny and short, but she does wear bigger boots to appear taller.

Angie Yonaga:

-Athletic Built, has some tattoos that depict her religion and culture

Tenko Chabashira:

-Tall, muscular, has some cute butterfly hairclips

Kirumi Tojo:

Lean, athletic and uses some makeup to appear older and more mature.

notes: tsumugi aoba/reader, pre-established relationship, probably ooc (i don’t respect HE enough to write him properly), WRITTEN BEFORE EVENT RELEASE, sloppily written 538 words

It had been quite shocking when Tsumugi had come home with most of his hair chopped off. When he had left this morning his hair was just above his shoulder and now it didn’t go past his chin.

Tsumugi awkwardly shifted by the front door, sheepishly scratching his (now not covered) neck, awaiting your response. In your shock you could only respond:

“…Dinner’s ready.”

Dinner was no less awkward. You rapidly went from topic to topic, discussing everything but your boyfriend’s new hair. Tsumugi smiled and nodded every so often, subtly attempting to change the topic to his change in appearance with little success.

Both of you were too anxious to outright talk about it. You, fearing that he had hated his haircut, pushed the topic away, not wanting to potentially evoke negative feelings. Tsumugi, fearing that you hated his new look, attempted to gently breach the subject. Desperately seeking to calm his nerves.

After a flustering dinner past, you now laid in bed, staring at the ceiling.

A flurry of thoughts came at you all at once. Were you simply going to go to bed without addressing the elephant in the room? Would that be the best course of action?

Your thoughts were interrupted by a dip in the opposite side of the bed. Tsumugi was out of the shower quicker than you thought he would be (the lack of hair probably shaved off a few minutes).

Tsumugi took his glasses off and placed them on the bedside table. He stiffly laid his head on the pillow, lying down perfectly straight, and stared at the ceiling, similar to what you were currently doing. 

It was silent for a moment before there was a slight shift, a rustling noise as Tsumugi adjusted himself.

He softly called your name and your turned head with a hum. 

He was lying on his side, his now shorter hair splayed on the pillow. He stared at you, his lips tugged down in a frown. 

“Do you not like it?” You froze, quickly moving and mirroring his position. You frantically grabbed his hands, which had been nervously picking his cuticles, and brought it up to your face.

“No—it’s—no, no nothing like that!”

When you both calmed down, he explained how his haircut came to be. You had gotten it all wrong. It symbolized something more. A promise. New beginnings. Change.

You nodded when he finished his explanation. It was quiet. Both of you stared into each other’s eyes, content with silence.

Attempting to lighten the mood, you broke it first.

“Natsume cut it too short.” You played with a loose strain of damp hair, lightly laughing. “Bastard.”

Your words were harsh, but they held no anger.

Tsumugi grabbed that hand that fiddled with his hair and locked eyes with you.

“Do you…like it?”

You didn’t say anything, your eyes wandered around his face as if searching for something. He felt his face flush with your intense gaze. When you found what you were looking for, you zoned in on it.

With your free hand you untucked a piece of hair that was behind his ear, smiling softly as it fell, framing his face. That was it.

“I love it.”

And that was enough.

I can understand the significance of Tsumugi’s haircut while also not liking it! Like it’s great for his character and all, but it’s a little too short for my liking.

I’m not even a TsumugiP nor a switchP, but something awoke in me when I saw his 2d sprite.

My first post is for a character that's not even my favorite!!

my two cents on the tsumugi haircut is that. especially with natsume being the one cutting it, and calling him an idiot with a very gentle smile. it symbolises tsumugi's development and readiness to embrace switch as a unit where they all stand together because they Want to, and not because they're bound to it by charms and promises. idk tsumugi's near-prayer of saying he'll keep his hair long as another red string mirroring natsume's so that switch will stay together always read very desperate to me, so this change showing that he's more comfortable and at ease and ready to just. believe in them all. is very promising to me and i do really hope this is the direction the story will take... and it is especially significant that it's natsume cutting his hair for him
