I have a slightly complex question a lot of people want megumi to be saved but does he want to be saved he lost his sister his teacher is in the depths of darkness and another will be that if he is saved he doesn't go crazy and fall like suguru because his motivation which was his sister died and so did his teacher. Thank you for answering my question.
Tumblr media
Thank you for being kinda vague as I try to keep things as spoiler free as I can. I feel like at this point, my hypothesis for who makes it to endgame continues to shift but I think it's interesting that your question isn't will he live but, rather, does he want to.
⚠️ Spoiler warning through JJK chapter 236.
Empirically and, I think we can all agree, Megumi probably does not want to be saved. Less to do with the fate of Tsumiki and Gojo and more to do with the fact that... even before such things took place, Megumi was always ready to pull the ripcord. Megumi “Watch What These Hands Do” Fushiguro has been itching to summon Mahoraga since episode one without a chance of subjugating it. Always on the hunt for something to die for, it seemed.
But when you consider how increasingly dire his situation has become, it's hard to imagine him making a recovery even if he is liberated. Sukuna has blighted his soul, indelibly. His hands have killed Tsumiki and Gojo. His soul has absorbed the damage of Gojo's strongest attacks. Even before his body was highjacked, the Culling Games inspired unfathomable hopelessness which, of course, creates more curses and furthers the imbalance that sorcerers were already up against. But, moreover, with Sukuna at the helm, Megumi has also seen his beloved shikigami irrevocably corrupted. Could be a leap but... think of the throwback we saw of the white divine dog from when he was a kid. In Megumi's isolation, those shikigami probably provided some much needed comfort and now most of them are unrecognizable. Not even touching on the possible pride of each milestone as he mastered them.
Tumblr media
This, to me, is one of the sadder spreads since Megumi's been possessed.
However, just because he may not wish to be saved doesn't mean he won't be. Gege Akutami has a penchant for anguish and there is an exquisite irony in Megumi being extricated despite this desire and bearing the burden of living, anyway.
Not sure there's a grand message in that from a narrative point of view but, if we think back to what we've learned about life after loss:
Last words/wishes/wills damn the living (Re: Yuta and Rika, Yuji's grandfather and Yuji, Nanami and Yuji, Miguel and Geto, Gojo and Geto)
According to Todo, one must not defile the memories of those lost by trying to find meaning. One must simply live on so those you are connected to are never truly defeated.
Almost feels like living is a punishment. And, again, looks like being good does nothing for you. It makes me question whether the series will actually end positively for remaining parties or not 😂
I feel like this realization bears an impact on how I see the series ending but wonder if the next chapter will cement my thoughts. I'd been thinking about Yuji's significance and Sukuna's refusal to acknowledge it for a while and the last chapter proved me right! I was so mad I hadn't written about it yet! 🙄

I find it hilarious that when Todo goes around suddenly declaring that Itadori is his brother, most of the other characters just roll with it as Todo being Todo. But now that Choso is saying it too, they’re all, What freaky pheromones are you giving out, Itadori? Lol

I mostly got over the weird old man Steve ending from Endgame, but TFATWS highlights one of the reasons I don’t like that ending. Bucky is all alone, struggling, a man out of time just like Steve felt he was, especially in the earlier movies. You’re telling me that Steve was fine leaving his best friend alone to that fate when apparently he struggled with it so much he felt like he had to go back in time? If Steve stayed, they could’ve worked through that struggle together, moving on from the past and accepting their present while striving to make a better future. Instead, TFATWS shows just how much Bucky is screwed over by Steve’s decision.
It seems like the show is setting up Sam as the one to help Bucky reconnect with people, and I’m glad Bucky will have at least one friend. But man oh man, does this first episode not portray Steve’s decision in the greatest of lights.

JJK Chapter 143
Yuuta really has been on Yuuji’s side all along! Sorry for doubting you, Yuuta. I mean, I was on the fence about it most of the time, but at least I was right with my speculation last week that he steps in to help Naoya so that Naoya can tell the higher-ups that Yuuji is “dead.” And I guess Sukuna smiled ominously because Yuuji wasn’t really killed. He had me going there for a second lol
Surprisingly, we get a dream/memory of Yuuji’s parents. It seems like Yuuji’s mom, Kaori, died and then was possessed by the Brain/old Kamo Noritoshi who was able to give birth to? create? Yuuji. I’ve seen speculation that it might not be old Kamo because the forehead stitches are different. At this point, who knows, but the simplest assumption is that it’s old Kamo possessing/manipulating that body, so I’m gonna go with that until we get more info. I feel bad for Yuuji’s dad. He seems like a nice guy, but he’s in denial about Kaori.
However, I’m not sure whether to take this dream/memory of Yuuji’s as fact because there’s something weird going on with Yuuji and memories that we’ve seen previously with Todo and Choso. Gege has said that those were two different things going on, so maybe Choso is right and he and Yuuji are really related through old Kamo. But, all the memory weirdness makes me take this dream/memory with a grain of salt.
Poor Yuuji! I know he’s been carrying guilt and doubting his right to live, but to see it really spelled out this chapter. Gah!
And then this exchange:
Tumblr media
I really love this. Megumi trying to encourage Yuuji and Yuuji hating that Megumi feels he shares some of the guilt of Sukuna wiping out a bunch of people. Just, ugh my heart!
There’s a bunch of amazing ItaFushi moments in this chapter. They both want to help and protect the other so much. Yuuji wants to stay away from Megumi because he thinks he’ll bring Megumi nothing but suffering. However, Megumi wants to stick with Yuuji and is trying to support him and let him know it’s okay to live. Megumi even gives Yuuji a purpose to work towards. He asks Yuuji to save him by helping him save Tsumiki. And that really does seem to spark new life in Yuuji.
Then, we get the culling game reveal. It reminds me of other anime (I think it happened in both Inuyasha and Naruto? And probably others) where villains trap people and make them fight to the death in order to end up with the strongest person and take over their body. I’m not sure what exactly old Kamo is planning here since he already has a strong body, but it does seem like he wants to see who will be the strongest and will use them for some purpose.
Also, it’s my understanding that this game mainly applies to the people old Kamo cursed, but that other jujutsu sorcerers will be dragged into the game when they enter the barriers. Although, I don’t know if old Kamo can take away the other sorcerers’ techniques even if they’re considered players once they enter the barriers since he didn’t curse them and give them techniques in the first place. Maybe he can when they’re in the barriers, though? The rules also mention 19 days twice. So, I wonder what the significance of 19 days/the number 19 is.
Anyways, it looks like this next arc is going to focus on the culling game and saving Tsumiki. I look forward to meeting her in person. I hope she has retained at least some of her personality and isn’t totally brainwashed or something so that we can get more of a feel for her character.
Geez, so much happens in this chapter.

This moment is so cute and funny because they’re basically fighting over Yuuji being a little overprotective. Of course Yuuji is worried about Sukuna’s plans for Megumi, but Megumi doesn’t focus on his own safety very much. Instead, he is focused on their mission at hand and saving Tsumiki. He probably also wants to keep Yuuji relatively close so that he can keep Yuuji from getting into too much trouble. (They just care about each other so mu-u-u-ch)
However, this moment is also a little ominous since this is like the third or fourth time Yuuji has brought up his concerns for Megumi’s safety when is comes to Sukuna post-Shibuya. It feels like the story is really setting up for something bad to happen involving the three of them. And while I love the angst and am fascinated by Sukuna’s interest in Megumi, all this set up is making me worried.

Cherry made that calligraphy calling Joe a dimwit because Joe is not picking up the hints Cherry is putting down that he likes Joe. And Joe, who likes Cherry but thinks that he doesn’t reciprocate, still flirts with girls in front of Cherry. Hence, dimwit.
