does anyone remember the middle blocker group chat fic on ao3?

i think it might've been called that and when i tell you those idiots had me howling (silently) every time i read it, i Mean It. it was the peak of "boys will be boys" humor to me. it had narita and kawanishi content. i Loved that content.

i can't remember much else besides some key factors:

1) kawanishi and narita are vice captains! it still happens in their second year but they know they've been chosen. kawanishi calls him naruto. kawanishi also has serious allergies and tendou gets him his meds from semi and also cookies from the cafeteria. tendou is a good senpai.

(PSA: don't worry that's not a canon spoiler. i don't think the second year vice captains were ever confirmed in the main manga!)

2) washio is there and absolutely forgets to add onaga until the end. in fact i think kuroo does it LMAO "please don't forget me again senpai" "sorry" washio is a BAD senpai. jk love you tatsun. also mattsun and tatsun.

3) THE UNEXPECTED KUROO/DAISHOU CHILDHOOD FRIENDS TO ENEMIES TO LOVERS SUBPLOT??? RIGHT AT THE END??? my first exposure. i was not mad.

4) i'm pretty sure during the middle blocker video chat at the end, it was heavily implied that tsukkiyamakagehina were a thing. except kageyama is confused bc he's the only one who isn't a middle blocker so he was left out of the character development loop. rip kags

#15 and Hina/Kags/Tsukki/Yams

15. So I found this waterfall…

This all started when Yamaguchi and Hinata approached them with a “So we found this waterfall…” and they bat their eyelashes. How could Tsukishima and Kageyama say no to that?

That’s how they currently found themselves shoved into the back of their tiny car with Hinata drive erratically. Kageyama and Tsukishima clutched each other’s hands, slightly embarrassed but they were doing it because they truly feared for their lives when Hinata was driving.

Soon they were parked and Kageyama and Hinata were racing towards the water, trying to see who could jumping in the fastest and farthest. Tsukishima sighed and helped Yamaguchi grab the picnic basket and the beach bag from the trunk.

“They’re such idiots.” Tsukishima shook his head as the two in the water were already drenched in water, Hinata trying to dunk Kageyama.

“They’re our idiots Tsukki.” Yamaguchi nudged him with his elbow and gave him and quick kiss on the cheek, pulling his shirt off. “Isn’t it pretty though?”

Tsukishima hummed as he looked around them. It was all trees with a beautiful waterfall and lake in the center. “It is. You and Shouyou did a good job.”

Yamaguchi grinned, “We know! Come on!” He ran towards the water, jumping in between Kageyama and Hinata. Hinata immediately lunged at him, using him as a human shield from Kageyama. Kageyama was scowling but Tsukishima could see the affection behind it.

The scowl melted off his face completely when Yamaguchi kissed it off, placating him.

“That’s not fair I want a kiss too!” Hinata cried, splashing around behind him. 

Yamaguchi laughed and turned around, kissing Hinata sweetly. Hinata grinned and immediately tried dunking him, Yamaguchi squawking. “SHOUYOU!!!”

Tsukishima shook his head at the scene before him, taking his shirt off and placing the bags down. “Please don’t kill our boyfriend.” Tsukishima said as he placed his glasses on the bag.

“Wow you have a heart.” Kageyama cocked his head to the side, ink black hair in his eyes.

“I know, surprising right?” Tsukishima slowly waded into the water, drawing closer.

Hinata got a mischievous look in his eye. Tsukishima tried to back away, realizing his mistake, but it was no use. Hinata was already lunging for him, hugging him tightly

I like to think the karasuno first years all get piercings and/or tattoos when they get older and they all support each other and everyone comes along if a new one is pierced/tattooed and they all can't wait for it to heal properly so they can kiss the hell out of it even though yamaguchi keeps saying it might not be hygienical but they keep doing it because it just feels so fucking good (also, flustered tsukki bc the other three are all working on one of his tattoos makes me blush)
