since i'm one of those people who watched tsn in 2023 (i was 12 when tsn was broadcasted) so it gave me this weird mixed feeling whenever i read markwardo fanfic because knowing how bad these people actually are irl and not some uwu precious baby but i can't blame fanfic writers in 2010-2011 for thinking zuckerberg and saverin were cool because during that time facebook was indeed cool and the internet was younger at that time too, the fic are good i admit but sometimes i need a moment to rethink why am i reading irl capitalists fanfic, it's so hard to distinguish between tsn and irl material most of the time too and not to mention tsn was just a story written based on irl saverin pov of fb and he was also an asshole. The only fun time to enjoy tsn was probably 2010-2011 because fb was cool, the cast was close and now even the cast of this film probably don't even contact each other anymore despite being so closed in 2010, sorry for rambling i just think it's amazing that people who enjoy tsn in 2010 still post about it in 2024!
well anon. Like I said. You had to be there. Look I love context and you said you were 12 in 2010 so here is some context: yes the internet was younger and yes fb/meta had not destroyed democracy yet but I also think there was more of a sense of hope related to technology, as opposed to dread. A lot of tech and social mainstays had not happened yet, politics were drastically different, Chris Hughes (cofounder of fb & communications guy) helped Obama get elected, people didn’t think global warming was real, society was MUCH more conservative and homophobic, etc., and the internet was the place to be.
when you say the internet was younger I’m interpreting this to mean that FB had not come into its final form yet, which is true, but also it & the internet was such a radically different experience. It felt limitless. You weren’t corralled in as much. You could go anywhere, you could find anything, you could make your own websites very easily, you were not assaulted by pop ups and apps were not mainstream because Apple didn’t launch the App Store until 2008. It was so easy to learn how to code. The operating systems between Apple and Android were SO distinct. Twitter launched in 2008/2009 but wasn’t quite so relevant until idk 2014? Fandom had just migrated from LJ to Tumblr but Tumblr was also hotter with the aesthetic girlies and porn blogs. “The algorithm” didn’t run the world. Yesterday I tried to find an article by searching for it and both Google and DuckDuckGo completely disregarded my request and did not turn up anything relevant. I can assure you that would not have happened in 2011. So there was SUCH a sense of optimism because the internet felt like a social good instead of an obligation that is increasingly privatized, surveilled, constrained, and decayed.
Which is why TSN got made and why there was an interest. It was a source of profound social change. But anyway. FB/Meta has ruined lives and it and all other social media apps that elevate divisive opinions to prompt as much engagement as possible (have you heard of the awful Isabel Fall twitter scandal? I recommend this article) are awful! And yet there’s an expectation of being online because a lot of communities now organize online, a lot of services require being online, etc., fandom has become less centralized/less unified, which is its own post.
Out of curiosity, what led you to watch the film? I do find it fascinating that there’s been a resurgence of TSN fandom. If this article had not been written I would not be posting about it but there’s still a lot of fic being written and fanvids being made to Taylor Swift songs. But it’s fandom devoid of all this context. So it is very strange, because you know what FB and all these people in it will become. I think I would have the exact cognitive dissonance you described if I watched it for the first time last year and tried to read fic. It is SO deeply fictionalized, so much of it is radically untrue, but you as the reader carry the truth in your mind. Which is why I cannot and do not engage with these days. And why I hold TSN in my mind curtained off. I spoke with many ppl from the original fandom yesterday and trust me, no one wants this.
I think, realistically, whatever movie Sorkin wants to make will probably be very good. It’s probably a good story to tell & explore. But I won’t be watching it. I lived that shit

hasina (the sun never sets campaign)
1. why did they choose their class(es)? their subclass(es)? sina was not born into the rogue life, her parents were pretty well off textile traders in the east side. but after they disappeared one day leaving sina orphaned at age 8, she was scouted when wandering the docks and fell in with kids from a shady orphanage. there was decent meals on the table as long as they did the odd job but that didn't last long as the place got busted by ruby palace guards. scrapped on the streets for some more years, with her sister then without, eventually reconnecting with an old friend who was doing dealings in the underworld. she stepped up to it and proved herself to the dockmaster, earning a tattoo and job as part of the syndicate
2. before they met their party, what was their main goal? what anyone working for the syndicate does, survive. other than that, staying in touch with her sister didi, who now lives in the ruby palace. it's not so easy to do when sina doesn't know who's watching her, but with a code only they can read and couple strings pulled by her contacts, they make it work.
3. what is their goal right now? having met the sunchasers, travelled outside of solari, getting caught up in the partys' shenanigans and realising how much is at stake in their operations, she's a little less apathetic to the politics of the world. and with her sister safe and out of solari (sending stones in possession), she can now take a lot more risk and she's willing to help them do what it takes to free the country of emperor zahreb's rule.
13. what do they dislike about themself? why? how powerless she is to the greater system at work and how quickly she falls to staying the path she's on.
get to know my d&d characters!

I am absolutely Baffled by whoever's decision it was to have Mark Zuckerberg host a podcast in 2019. The man is a self-proclaimed socially awkward guy and yet someone allowed this to happen? Mark Zuckerberg promoted this idea?

First NHL Hat Trick for Our Favourite 1OA April 9, 2024
Pregame Media Ops: Slaf commenting on how all the young guys on the team are growing... A nice, humble reflection from the one who's had the steepest growth this season:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First Period 1:05: Matheson rips it and scores. The guys are pumped, Matty leads the high five line in front of the bench.
Tumblr media
Oh, wait. It deflected off Slaf, who was obstructing the goalie's view at the net. #17 on the season for this kiddo.
Kelly Greig caught up with him during intermission to give him credit for the deflection. After apologizing for not having much of a voice for the interview, Slaf laughed off the praise as usual:
Tumblr media
Second period 8:43: Suzy dishes a nice pass that Slaf puts right into the net.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cue Slaf immediately crediting Suzy for that Spooky Suzuki pass:
Tumblr media
Of course Cole had to grab Slaf's face... because who can resist pinching those goofy baby boy cheeks?
Not Coco, the king of nose boop cellys and chin scratches, obviously.
And Slaf was all... 😝
Tumblr media
Goal #18, check. 2-0, Montreal. Little guy returns to the bench all smiles... and on hatty watch.
Gally scores, 3-0. And then, after RHP hit a player and created a little space, he and Slaf executed a quick line change and Savy sent a long pass in his direction, for this beauty at 11:22:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it started raining hats... A pretty special experience for the fans and for Slaf, who later quipped that he'd had a hat trick as a kid and the only one who threw his hat was his dad. [I don't know whether that's a laugh about it or cry about it piece of information, but anyhow it's very endearing.]
Tumblr media
TSN's Frankie Corrado was thrilled and may have used the phrase "ELITE SNIPER JURAJ SLAFKOVSKÝ!" and gushed a little about Slaf's perfect-for-Montreal personality. [He loves Junior, and I am here for it.]
His teammates weren't bothered by his success either and gave him a round of fist bumps, head pats and congratulatory stick taps. Mike snatched up the puck before skating over and giving Slaf a little extra congratulations, Suzy reached over the bench to give him a good stick tap, and Newy had a happy head pat for the team's baby. Slaf later mentioned that one of the guys saved a hat for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Montreal went on to score 5 more goals, ending the game 9-3. Big W.
The three stars at the Bell Centre:
⭐⭐⭐ Dvo
⭐⭐ Gally
⭐ Slaf
The little fist bump between Gally and Slaf in the tunnel... Aww.
Tumblr media
First career hat trick, 19 on the season now. How did that feel when you saw the hats flying on the ice?
—Marc Denis, RDS
Slaf wasn't able to respond right away because of cheers coming from the crowd. He asked if he should respond then decided to wait a little.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once the crowd quieted enough, Marc Denis asked him a few questions, and Slaf mentioned how happy he was for Dvo (who scored two goals in his first game after returning from injury/surgery) "and especially for Gally." (who also scored two goals and got an assist).
Listen, we've seen it a couple of times… You're pretty calm and quiet right now but you're had some crazy reactions when you're scoring goals.
Juraj, immediately... 😝
Tumblr media
Where does that comes from?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marc Denis translated his answers for the crowd and Slaf broke out his best "Merci beaucoup!" walking the fine line between cracking himself up and patting himself on the back for his efforts as he signed the lens:
Tumblr media
The kid was happy, the team was happy for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He hasn't stopped smiling and he shouldn't. I mean, it's a pretty cool moment for him, especially to be at home for the fans to obviously reward him like that. I mean, they support him. They love him for a reason. I think he's gonna be a good player here for a long time, an important player on this team.
—Brendan Gallagher, Montreal Canadiens, Post Game, April 9, 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The progression he's had this year is unbelievable. He's a special player, so it's been a lot of fun to watch him from up top per the TV. Now to see it on the ice, see his first hat trick, was a special moment. Yeah, he was having a good time.
—Christian Dvorak, Montreal Canadiens, Post Game, April 9, 2024
Slaf was beaming during the post game media ops, although admitted that he hadn't been able to nap that afternoon because he just couldn't fall asleep.
Tumblr media
He was pretty hoarse, too, but shrugged it off as no big deal, jokingly adding that being tired and under the weather was a small price to pay if it helped to achieve the same results every game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a little more chatting, one of the reporters brought up Slaf's latest history-making accomplishment...
Maybe you've been asked, but you're the second youngest player to score a hat trick for the Habs. How does it feel?
...which led to a classic *humble shrug* Slaf moment:
Tumblr media
I don't even know these records. It's not important. [ … ] It's not about records, it's… Yeah… I'm just happy for team win, and yeah, I got lucky, scored three. [ Laughs ]
—Juraj Slafkovský, Montreal Canadiens, Post Game, April 9, 2024
The Habs can count their team lucky to have scored such a gem of a kid.
Slaf's parents, Juraj, Sr. and Gabriela, and his little sister, Lucia, had recently left Montreal after visiting him for his 20th birthday, so they didn't see his hatty in person, but some of his friends were who were visiting from Košice were at the game and got to celebrate the win with him and some teammates.
After the game, my friends and I went to a restaurant with a few guys from the team. It was a great evening. We were heading to New York the next morning, so I couldn't stay up too late. Unlike my pre-game nap, I didn't have any trouble falling asleep. I took some medicine since I was a little sick—I had lost my voice, I had a cold and a runny nose. Nothing too serious. With three goals against the Flyers, I have 19 goals. I don't really like talking about my personal records. I've already said it: I want to win, I want to help my team. But I'm not gonna lie, I want to reach 20 goals. I still have three games left to do it. I can say the same thing for the 50 points—I have 48 after 78 games. Reaching those personal goals would be great. At the beginning of the season, those numbers looked unrealistic but then things improved. My game has probably grown more than some people expected, but I don't want to slow down.

i understand that in 2024 people feel icky about facebook/mark zuckerberg and shipping these people but as someone that Was There in 2010/2011/2012+ im BAFFLED by people thinking it's strange lmaooo im like "what do you MEAN you think it's weird?? it was the best fanfiction ever written!!! it's not about the real zuckerberg!!! it's about the characters that happen to share their names!!" (also i need andrew to stop talking about jesse because every time he mentions jesse he pulls me right back to 2011 and I CANT... i can't do it...)(also i think of jesse's weird era dating his costar, then being shunned by the general public for being "rude" in that one interview, plus lex luthor, plus getting back with his gf and having kids and moving to god knows where...... also makes me go 🥴) BUT I DIGRESS
it’s like when you grow up your whole life thinking the way your family eats Mac n cheese is normal and then you go to college and replicate it and your friends are like “you fucking what?!” At which point you are forced to consider if anyone is normal about anything. Like these people are right. My prev anon is right! It is icky. But also it was a different time. It was a different life. The fanfic was literally unparalleled. Changed me on an atomic level.
I confess to having not kept up with Jesse’s career…has he denounced W00dy Allen yet?
Also yes for Andrew like literally every time this happens or he says he wants Ocean Vuong to be his wife I totally lose it 😭

hello! have we talked about how mark is totally wearing eduardo's shirt at the beginning of the email montage (specially, the shirt eduardo was wearing the night facemash was created) because it is driving me insane. the jacket sharing was one thing but???
which email montage was this again? eduardo had like a blue/grey dress shirt on for facemash night (lovely and very colourblind-friendly) is that the one?
also YES VERY MOOD mark was definitely just popping whatever he touched first as he rolled out of bed every morning and i'm sure wardo would have been very 😳😳😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️🥺🥺🥹 uwu :333 about it and just said NOTHING not a THING.
something about the north face jackets that amuses me is that it seems that wardo has actually got at least TWO north face pieces on the go - a vest without sleeves, the light zip up that mark stole - plus he's got a couple of other thick kneelength pieces in navy or black wool. you little fashionista! where are you keeping all these coats and jackets and sweaters and blazers!!!!! relatable babe.
this to say...at least wardo won't miss it. he's not sitting there freezing his ass off with goo-goo eyes. he's sitting there snug as a bug with his wardrobe space expanding into kirkland!!! BLESS COUPLE SHARING

Knights' Cowan carries momentum from Leafs camp into OHL
Easton Cowan is off to a great start in the OHL with 27 points in 14 games. The London Knights centre spoke to TSN about what he learned from Toronto's best players during his first NHL training camp. The 18-year-old also outlined his goals for the rest of the season and explained why he actually enjoys the pressure of being a Leafs draft pick.

hi just wanted to share! we thought that Daniel had a problem with his radio, but he was just fully locked in
https://x.com/F1Help/status/1814679865678794834?t=OKm5R1egKWfSHZGcKF_ajw&s=19
Before I start, I need you to know that the level of pettiness I'm about to stoop to is not directed at you, Anon, but at F1TV who robbed me of Pierre praising Daniel for that insane lap at the end of Q1 (I will literally never forgive them). Anyway, I love you for giving me this opportunity to be so extra.
I'm putting the rest of this under a cut because I'm including a screenshot and video analysis...because I'm insane.
To orient us, here is a screenshot of Daniel's steering wheel from an interview he did at the Canadian GP with TSN. The red button within the yellow box is his radio button. When he presses that, a light comes on to indicate that he is being received (very much in the same way your run of the mill walkie talkie works...just vastly more expensive).
Tumblr media
Now, here is a video from qualifying. The first 26 seconds is radio after Daniel's first few laps in Q1 where we were hearing transmissions from both Daniel and Pierre. These include the typical instructions and position updates from Pierre. When Daniel "isn't using his radio much" we usually hear an "understood" from him in response. Here, he gives that but also answers a few of Pierre's questions regarding the issues with the car in those first couple push laps. I've (poorly) added some arrows to point out when Daniel pushes his radio button to talk. One thing to note here is that there is a massive delay. This is pretty typical although today it was especially bad.
You can see Daniel pushing the radio button a little more clearly when he's in the garage at (1:55). But we can't hear the conversation because the car is plugged in and not broadcasting the radio to everyone.
Directly following his last push lap in Q1, you can see Daniel push his radio button a couple of time (1:39 and 1:23 he pushes it on to start talking) but even accounting for the delays we experienced earlier, you don't hear him talk. Daniel pushes the radio button again (1:02) as he's being wheeled into the garage after Q1 but again, we hear nothing.
This continues through Q2 and Q3 but the best showcase of his radio not working is the red flag for Yuki's crash. You'd expect to hear some back and forth between Daniel and Pierre and you can see Daniel push his radio button multiple times but we hear none of it.
In closing, F1TV are lying liars who lie.

For the Love of Hockey— Ch. 1
Disclaimer: I love hockey, and I love watching it, but I have absolutely no idea of the inner workings of the NHL, what it's like to play on a team or the rules and regulations of any hockey association. Please take everything I write in this fic with a grain of salt, as I've taken a lot of creative liberties to make the story work out as I want and have planned.
A/N- Hi, I'm so happy you're here. :) If you would like to support me and my writing, please remember to hit the reblog button, as Tumblr has no algorithm and likes (while appreciated) do nothing to get creators work seen. If you would like to support me further, please consider donating to my Ko-Fi. If you're curious about where your support would go, I'm currently at $80/$200 for my monthly groceries, so any support would go towards that. :)
Amazing hockey text divider was made by: @writercole ❤️ (If you have your Tumblr palette set on goth rave, it may be a little hard to see)
Tumblr media
Bradley Bradshaw is a legacy player. His dad played hockey, both his uncles played hockey, and if he had any brothers, he's sure that they would've played too. It's not that he doesn't love the game; he does; it's just that he's under so much pressure, and he can never seem to live up to it. He plays it safe; he doesn't rush the puck or take illegal hits. He has a clean record with zero minutes in the penalty box, and he's very proud of that.
He may not be the best player, but he's got the best sportsmanship, and no matter what fans or reporters say, no one can take that away Until Hangman comes along. The man gets under his skin like no other. He's a cocky rookie, first year in the NHL and the talk of the town. He has no respect for the older players and no problems breaking the rules. He has more penalty minutes than any other rookie in the league, and somehow, people love him for it.
Tumblr media
The first time that Bradley sees Jake's smug grin, it's on the TV. He doesn't know the kid, has never played against him, but the way he's boasting about the team he got drafted to and the way he's answering every reporter's questions like he's god's gift to hockey, has Bradley's blood boiling. He clicks off the TV and chucks his remote to the other side of his couch; he should go to bed; he's got training in the morning anyway.
Despite his best efforts, Bradley can't get to sleep. He gravitates toward his phone, which is what always happens, even though the blue light makes his tired eyes burn. Somewhere, in the back of his mind, he knew that the internet would be full of praise, love and ridiculous fawning for the rookie whose teammates had dubbed 'Hangman; he still opens Twitter and scrolls through his feed. It's like he can't help it, and why he chose to focus on this asshole instead of sleep, he'll never know.
The morning practice, surprisingly, isn't hell, even though Bradley barely slept and has to listen to his teammates go on and on about Hangman.
"What do you think about the new guy, Roo?" Mickey asks once they're off the ice and all crowded in the locker room.
"Don't think about him at all," Bradley answers coolly, passing him to get to the showers;— That's a lie. He spent last night scowling at his phone. He had to stop doing that; he needed to focus on this year's season and helping his team make it to the Stanley Cup. What kind of captain would he be if he let some cocky rookie get to him? It wasn't even guaranteed that the two teams would play against each other.
As Bradley's terrible luck would have it, the media coverage and general hysteria about Jake "Hangman" Seresin only got worse. The kid could apparently do no wrong, which only made his insufferable ego so much bigger. It gets to the point where Bradley doesn't even watch TSN anymore because Jake's smugness is practically dripping through his flatscreen; it makes his skin burn.
By some sort of miracle, Bradley has three days of blissful silence. Well, silence from hearing about Hangman anyway. Three days off to travel and get settled into a new city for another away game where he bonds with his team, doesn't watch the news, and spends most of his time on the ice. It's amazing. It's the most calm Bradley has felt in his life.
Much to the dismay of their coach, part of the team's bonding consists of going out to drink. Bradley, as captain, makes the case to Iceman, their coach, who got and kept that nickname when he, himself, played in the NHL.
"C'mon Ice, it's called team building!" Bradley grins. It was true that the team was a lot looser and in better spirits after a night out as long as they kept themselves in check and made sure the hangovers wouldn't be too bad.
Ice couldn't help but sigh and shake his head. He knew all too well what a team could get up to on a night out. It's not that he didn't trust Bradley; he did. It was hard to say no to the kid, and it didn't help that he was his uncle. Or really, his Godfather but Bradley's been calling him uncle since he was a kid, of course not anymore, now it's 'Ice' or 'Coach' and sometimes when he's in trouble, it's 'Sir'. He guesses that's how none of the other players know, he's sure that they would give Bradley a hard time if they knew so it was always an unspoken rule that neither of them would say anything.
"You'll look after them, won't you? Make sure that no one gets too drunk and nothing happens to your team?" Ice always calls the team Bradley's team, always emphasizes it when he's talking about being a role model. That's what the captain's for for everyone else to look up to, but Bradley had to admit that it was a little draining. Sometimes, he wanted to let loose like the rest of them.
Bradley nods. As always, he'll make sure that nothing gets broken, bones or otherwise, and no one gets arrested. "I'll make sure." He nods dutifully.
The day goes by in a blur after that, and when he gets back to his hotel room, Bradley takes a much-needed shower. He almost collapses into his bed with just the damp towel around his hips, but not before there's a knock on his hotel door. He pulls on his briefs, a nice pair of jeans and runs his fingers through his curls before he walks up to the door and pulls it open. The person who is standing on the other side is not to he expects.
"Hey, Bob." He offers easily.
The man makes no attempt to hide the fact that he's looking Bradley up and down but not in the way of checking him out, more like the way he's judging Bradley, buttoning up his Hawaiian shirt. "Are you wearing that to the bar?"
"I was planning on it. Why, what's wrong with it?"
"Nothing, just... you want to meet girls, right?" Bob gives a small and teasing smile. He has a way of making jokes that are just on the edge of mean but somehow never make Bradley angry.
"Ha-ha," He huffs sarcastically. "I can't be a designated driver if I leave with a girl, now can I?" Bradley has to admit that he would like to meet someone, but it wasn't really on the top of his priority list.
The bar is much too loud and crowded for a sober Bradley. The sound of the bass buzzes behind his eyes, and it makes him want to slip his sunglasses on, but there are only two types of people who wear sunglasses inside, blind people and douchebags. Bradley was neither.
He was making his way back to the bar for a second round at his teammate's request when he was knocked into. He doesn't exactly know what happened, but he knows he wasn't carrying a drink, so why is his shirt all wet? "Fuck." He grunts, looking down to assess the damage.
"What the hell, man? You know you owe me a drink." The voice is accusatory, like the entire thing was Bradley's fault and not the guy whose words are slurring enough; he probably didn't need that drink anyway.
Bradley looks up, lips parted, ready to tell the asshole off, except he recognizes that asshole; it's the same one who's been lighting up his TV screen and making him roll his eyes so much he's surprised they're not stuck. Jake Seresin.
Tumblr media
