i love this. everyone around him is like "Damen dont be a fool, dont trust him. Hes vicious and cunning!"

and hes literally like "I know that. that why I also know I can trust him!"

and in the end its not war that reunites it but love (as kitsch as it sounds)

Damen would have chosen love over a kingdom, if it was possible.

Kastor chose a kingdom over (a brothers) love.

ive read and reread this scene countless times but it still is incredibly hilarious to me

also, Nikandros definitely doesn't get paid enough for this

my heart hurts for Laurent but its also funny because Damen is such a dumbass, he really is so smug about it

i know its never discussed but i feel like since queen Hennikes death was the trigger for the Akielon-Veretian War and Marlas, the Regent might have had something to do with it, too

Laurent has been waiting for so long to say "Don't be ridiculous" to Damen. hes also very much enjoying himself.

Someone should have figured it out before Paschals testimony. The regents plots have patterns, its always close to the truth, always twisted and blaming someone else.

Damen was framed for patricide, when in truth it was Kastor.

but wait its a plot reused. it has worked once before. killing the king, and sending the son to be killed by their enemy.

Theomedes was poisened just like Aleron was killed by his own guard.

Auguste was sent to fight a deadly duel and it killed him (there probably was a plan b if he had survived). Just like that Damen was sent as a slave to Laurent, who they thought would kill him, too.

The regent really is not as clever as he thinks he is.
