As the night wound down and the last of the guests danced under the stars, Rhodes and Emerson stepped away from the crowd, stealing a quiet moment to themselves. They leaned against the railing, watching their wedding party from afar, the sounds of laughter and music echoing in the distance. The glow of the string lights flickered softly around them, and the evening felt almost magical, a moment suspended in time.
Emerson, ever the influencer, wrapped her arm around Rhodes and leaned her head on his shoulder. She smiled at the sight of the party still going strong, but her gaze seemed distant, as if imagining their future together. Rhodes, for a moment, forgot about the conflict swirling in his mind. He breathed in the night air, feeling the weight of the moment.
Emerson pulled out her phone, snapping a quick picture of the two of them, their faces calm and serene, the soft glow of the wedding party in the background.
In an instant, the picture was uploaded to Simstagram. The caption was simple, but to the point:
“Forever begins today. #MrAndMrsBritton”
Their smiling faces, arms intertwined, looked like the perfect couple. The post received an outpouring of likes and comments almost immediately—friends, fans, and family all sharing their well-wishes. Rhodes stared at the screen for a moment before slipping the phone back into Emerson’s hand.
For a second, he allowed himself to believe in the image they were projecting. The idea that maybe, just maybe, this was the life he was supposed to lead.

Him.
She had her share of horrible boyfriends during college. But then she met HIM.
Maddox Andrade.
In her third and last year of college he walked up to her and asked if the seat next to her was empty.
It hadn’t been, but her friends looking on from the side gave her a smile and walked off, leaving her alone with this handsome stranger.
He was a computer science major, had 7 siblings (wow) and told Maeve she had the most beautiful eyes he’d ever seen.
She was apprehensive at first. Especially after her last boyfriend, who left her high and dry after cheating on her and kicking her out of their apartment (the one HE insisted on moving in together nonetheless).
But here they were, 2 years later in their own (albeit small) house. Both fresh-faced and new in their respective careers. Her a journalist, him the random IT guy that was only still allowed to get coffees for others. Actually both of them were only still getting coffees for others.
But they didn’t care, they were happy and fullfilled and loved each other more than anything.

When they arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy. The lounge was packed with people, the air thick with laughter and music. Rhodes felt thrilled at the thought of being there with Emerson, and he led her to the bar, eager to grab some drinks to kick off the night.
“What’s your poison?” he asked, scanning the drink menu.
“Surprise me!” Emerson replied with a grin, leaning casually against the bar.
Rhodes ordered a couple of cocktails—something fruity and vibrant for her and a classic whiskey sour for himself. As the bartender prepared their drinks, he glanced around, taking in the scene.
The lounge was alive with chatter, and a DJ was spinning tracks that made the crowd sway. He could see familiar faces in the crowd, some of Emerson's friends from the industry, and it felt like a world he was just starting to tap into.
“Here you go,” the bartender said, placing their drinks in front of them.
Rhodes handed one to Emerson, their fingers brushing against each other as she took it. He felt a flutter in his stomach at the brief touch, reminding him of the night they spent together.
“Let’s find a spot to enjoy these,” Emerson suggested, her eyes scanning the lounge.
Rhodes nodded, feeling a surge of confidence. “How about over there?” He pointed to a cozy booth in the corner, slightly away from the crowd but still with a good view of the dance floor.
They settled into the booth, drinks in hand, and began chatting, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. The initial excitement of the party was giving way to a comfortable warmth between them, and Rhodes felt himself relaxing.
As the night wore on, they caught up with Emerson's friends and exchanged stories, and Rhodes tried to keep the conversation light, but in the back of his mind, he couldn’t shake the weight of his feelings for Autumn. But for now, he pushed those thoughts aside, allowing himself to enjoy the moment and the company of the captivating woman sitting across from him.

The morning of the wedding dawned with a flurry of excitement and nerves. Tartosa’s golden sunlight poured over the stunning coastal venue, where rows of chairs lined an aisle leading to an arch adorned with lush white roses and greenery. Emerson, as usual, was ahead of the game, snapping a photo of a beautifully handwritten chalkboard easel set up near the entrance. The words read:
“Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Britton”
She captioned her post with: “The day has finally arrived ✨ Can't wait to say ‘I do’ to my best friend @RhodesBritton 💍💖 #BrittonWedding #ForeverStartsToday”
Meanwhile, Rhodes, sitting on the balcony of his suite overlooking the venue, took a similar photo of the easel and shared it to his Simstagram story with a caption that read: “Big day ahead. Let’s do this. #BrittonWedding”
Both posts immediately began to rack up likes and comments, fans and followers buzzing with excitement about the couple's union.
Inside the bridal suite, Emerson was all smiles as she slipped into her custom-designed wedding gown, the culmination of weeks of fittings. Her friends and bridal party helped her with the final touches, ensuring every detail was Instagram-perfect. Across the venue, Rhodes adjusted his tie in front of the mirror, a mix of emotions swirling through him.
His phone pinged incessantly with notifications from their posts, but he ignored them, focusing instead on the vows he’d written—or rather, the ones he’d crafted to sound convincing enough for their audience.
The day was perfectly curated, just as Emerson had planned. But for Rhodes, as he stared at the chalkboard easel one last time before heading to the ceremony, the weight of the words hit him harder than he expected.

Rhodes' Simstagram post featured a stunning shot of him and Emerson standing on the balcony of their honeymoon suite, the breathtaking ocean of Sulani stretching out behind them. Emerson’s hand rested delicately on Rhodes’ back, her engagement ring catching the sunlight in a way that made it sparkle even more brilliantly.
The caption read: “Honeymoon vibes 🌴✨ Starting this next chapter in paradise with my beautiful wife. #MrAndMrsBritton #HoneymoonGoals #IslandDreams”
The post quickly gained traction, followers and fans swooning over the idyllic scenery and Emerson’s eye-catching ring. Comments poured in:
“You two are perfect together!! 😍”
“That ring though!!! 💎🔥”
“Living the dream life! Enjoy your honeymoon!”
Rhodes stared at the post after publishing it, the likes ticking up by the hundreds. Emerson beamed as she scrolled through the comments, already planning the next photo. For now, though, Rhodes set his phone down and stepped outside to breathe in the salty air, trying to let the beauty of the island distract him from the thoughts swirling in his head.

The engagement party was an elaborate affair, hosted at a charming venue in Evergreen Harbor, complete with string lights, a live band, and tables overflowing with food. Emerson, ever the perfectionist, had insisted on a theme—“Rustic Elegance”—and it showed in every meticulously chosen detail, from the wildflower centerpieces to the artisanal charcuterie boards.
For Rhodes, the night was less about the aesthetic and more about surviving the event without anyone catching on to their facade. Trying to fool his entire family, especially his mom and grandparents, felt like walking a tightrope.
Emerson was in her element, charming everyone with her sparkling personality and quick wit. Ashlee had seemed skeptical at first but softened as the night went on. Emerson made sure to mention all the things she loved about Rhodes—their shared love of adventure, his “amazing” cooking skills, and his dedication to his career.
“You’ve got yourself a good one,” Ashlee said to Emerson, raising her glass in a toast.
“I know,” Emerson replied with a radiant smile. “I’m the luckiest girl in the world.”
Rhodes forced a grin, sipping his drink to hide the knot forming in his stomach.
Even his grandparents, notoriously tough critics, were taken with Emerson. Bonnie, his grandmother, pulled him aside at one point, saying, “She’s a keeper, Rhodes. Don’t mess this up.”
The evening ended with a toast from Ashlee, who welcomed Emerson into the family with open arms. Rhodes was surprised by how much warmth and support his family showed, even if it made the guilt gnaw at him.
Before the night was over, Emerson dragged Rhodes to the venue’s patio for a quick photo session. “We need something for the wedding invitations,” she said, adjusting her dress and pulling him close.
The photographer snapped a series of shots: Emerson leaning her head on Rhodes’s shoulder, Rhodes with his arms around her waist, both of them laughing at something the photographer said to ease the tension.
When they looked at the preview, Emerson’s eyes lit up. “This one,” she said, pointing to an image of them standing under the string lights, of the two of them looking as if they were in their own little world.
Rhodes nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat. “Yeah, it’s perfect.”

The Simstagram post was perfect—curated to the last detail. The photo featured a stunning scene: Rhodes down on one knee in the soft glow of candlelight at an elegant restaurant, a sparkling engagement ring held up to Emerson, whose face was a picture of shock and joy.
The backdrop of twinkling fairy lights and a gorgeous centerpiece of flowers elevated the romantic atmosphere, while fellow diners could be seen clapping in the background, adding authenticity to the moment. Emerson’s hand was over her mouth in mock surprise, while her other hand subtly displayed her perfectly manicured nails, ready to showcase the ring.
The caption read: "She said YES!! ❤️
Within minutes of posting, the likes and comments poured in: 🌟 “OMG, congrats!!! You guys are perfect together 😍😭”🌟 “Rhodes finally settling down?! Never thought I’d see the day! Congrats bro! 🎉”🌟 “This is everything 🥹 You’re couple goals!!”
Rhodes stared at the screen after hitting post, the words blurring slightly as doubt clawed at him. It looked perfect—they looked perfect. But as Emerson scrolled through the comments beside him, beaming and laughing at all the congratulations, he couldn’t ignore the hollow ache in his chest.
He’d pulled off the moment flawlessly, but at what cost? Was this picture-perfect life worth the lie it was built on?

Hyacinth Britton entered the world with a burst of emotion and love, the room filled with her tiny cries. As Rhodes held her in his arms for the first time, he marveled at her delicate features—soft skin, a hint of dark hair, and bright, curious eyes that seemed to take in everything around her.
Lana, still exhausted but glowing with joy, watched as Rhodes gently rocked their daughter. "She’s perfect," Lana whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. Her heart swelled as she looked at the little girl they had brought into the world, their world.
Rhodes smiled, his voice shaky with emotion. "She’s everything we’ve been waiting for," he said softly, his eyes never leaving Hyacinth. "I love her so much already."

As the last of the guests waved goodbye, the warmth of the day began to fade, and a sense of calm settled over the apartment. But as Lana began to clean up, she started to feel a tightening in her belly. It was subtle at first, almost like a little cramp, but then it came again—stronger this time. She paused for a moment, placing her hand gently on her stomach.
"Rhodes," she called, her voice steady but tinged with a hint of concern.
He was tidying up the living room, putting away the gift bags and plates. He looked over at her, his eyes narrowing slightly as he saw the expression on her face. "What’s wrong?"
"I think… I think the baby’s coming," Lana said, her breath catching slightly as another contraction gripped her. It was a strange mix of excitement and nervousness that swept over her.
Rhodes’ eyes widened for a moment, but then he was by her side in an instant, his hands gentle on her shoulders. "Are you sure?" he asked, though he could tell by the way she was holding herself that it was true.
Lana nodded, breathing through the contraction. "I’ve been feeling it for a little while now… but it’s getting stronger."
Lana felt the panic rising in her chest but took a deep breath. "We’re doing this at home, right? We planned for this."
Rhodes nodded, giving her a reassuring smile. "Yeah, we’re ready. We’ve got everything here." His voice was steady, but there was a certain urgency in the air as they quickly moved through the apartment, getting everything ready.
Lana moved carefully, breathing through each contraction as they set up the space. The last few months had been a whirlwind of preparations, doctor’s appointments, and emotions. Now, it was just the two of them. She could feel the overwhelming sensation of her baby getting closer to being in her arms, and yet she couldn’t stop herself from feeling nervous.
"How are you doing?" Rhodes asked, his voice gentle as he helped her to the bed.
"I’m okay," Lana said between shallow breaths. "It’s just... a lot."
Rhodes helped her get into a comfortable position, staying close by her side. His presence was grounding, his calm demeanor helping to ease her anxiety. "You’ve got this," he said, kissing her forehead gently. "I’m right here with you."
As the contractions continued, the time seemed to slow down. The apartment, which had been filled with laughter and joy just hours before, now felt intimate and quiet. The only sounds were Lana’s steady breaths, the occasional shift of movement, and Rhodes’ comforting words.
It wasn’t long before Lana’s contractions intensified, and she knew that this was it—the moment she had been waiting for. With each wave of pressure, she could feel herself getting closer to meeting her baby. She gripped Rhodes’ hand tightly as she breathed through the pain.
Finally, with a burst of energy, and a deep, grounding breath, the room filled with the sound of their baby’s first cries.
Rhodes kissed her forehead, his own eyes filled with tears. "We did it," he whispered, holding their baby girl in his arms.

The morning of the baby shower arrived, and the apartment was filled with a calm, joyful energy. Lana had been looking forward to this day for weeks—she was eager to celebrate the upcoming arrival of her daughter and share the excitement with those closest to her. But before the party really began, she had a little moment of her own.
Lana set up a small space in the living room with a soft, cozy blanket and a few of the baby’s things. Placing headphones gently on her growing belly, and turned on some soft, calming music. She smiled to herself as the sound filled the room. "Okay, little one, let’s see how you feel about this," she said, speaking to her baby as if she could hear the music. The soothing melodies echoed around the room, and Lana felt a deep sense of peace as she imagined her daughter listening from within. It was these little moments, just her and the baby, that made everything feel real.
After a few songs, the doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of the guests. Lana stood, stretching and adjusting her clothes, feeling the excitement bubble up. This was going to be a fun day, a chance to celebrate with everyone she cared about.
The guests filtered in—close friends and family.. The apartment was soon filled with laughter, chatter, and the smell of delicious food. The table was laden with colorful snacks, cupcakes, finger foods, and an array of beverages. The space was decorated with soft pinks, whites, and subtle gold accents, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was all starting to come together beautifully.
Lana moved through the party, greeting people, thanking them for coming, and making small talk. Her heart swelled with gratitude—there was so much love in the room. As the afternoon unfolded, everyone shared stories, gave their well-wishes, and enjoyed the good food and conversation. Rhodes’ parents were there, beaming with joy, already talking about how excited they were to be grandparents. Lana couldn’t help but smile, feeling the support of both her own family and Rhodes’ as they all rallied around her during this time.
She had set up a little station for people to write messages or advice for the baby, a keepsake for the future. There were baby shower games, too, and a few rounds of laughter-filled competition as everyone took turns guessing the baby’s birth date, weight, and other details. It was a laid-back affair, more about enjoying the company than any formalities.
And then, it was time for presents. People gathered around as Lana opened each gift with enthusiasm, marveling at the tiny clothes, the baby accessories, and the thoughtful presents. It was all so overwhelming in the best way, a reminder of how much love there was surrounding them.

Rhodes stood outside Emerson's apartment, the divorce papers clutched tightly in his hand. The weight of the situation settled heavily on his shoulders. He had spent days trying to sort out everything—talking with his lawyer, reviewing the contract, and ultimately realizing that he couldn't live the life Emerson wanted for them. They'd made a deal, yes, but things had changed. He had changed. He couldn't pretend anymore.
The thought of facing Emerson again made him feel uneasy. He had always been able to navigate difficult conversations with her, but this was different. This wasn’t about saving face or keeping up appearances. This was about ending something that had been a lie from the beginning.
Rhodes rang the doorbell, taking a deep breath as he waited. Emerson would likely be angry—he had expected that. But he didn’t expect what happened next.
When she opened the door, her eyes were already narrowed in suspicion. “What’s this?” she asked, glancing down at the papers in his hand. There was no warmth, no smile—only coldness in her voice.
“I—” Rhodes began, but his throat tightened. He had rehearsed this, but now that the moment had arrived, the words felt like they were stuck somewhere deep inside him.
“You can’t be serious,” Emerson interrupted, her voice rising. “You’re going to do this now? After everything we’ve been through? After everything we’ve built?”
Rhodes held up the papers, his jaw set. “I’m serious, Emerson. It’s over. I can’t keep pretending this is something it’s not. I can’t keep living like this.”
Emerson’s face contorted with disbelief, then anger. “You think this is some kind of joke? You’re going to leave me now, after all the work we’ve put into this? What, so you can go off and play house with Lana?”
Her words stung more than he expected. He had always known Emerson could be manipulative, but hearing it from her now hit differently. She was grasping for control, just like she always did.
“No, this isn’t about Lana. This is about me, and what I want. What I need. And I don’t need this—this fake marriage, this contract. I need something real,” Rhodes said, his voice steady, though his chest felt heavy with guilt.
Emerson stepped forward, her eyes flashing with fury. “You think you can just walk away from this? You think you can just leave and have everything you want? I won’t let you go, Rhodes. You owe me.”
Rhodes shook his head. “I don’t owe you anything. You knew what this was when we started. And I—I can’t live this lie anymore. I’m not doing this for fame, or for views, or for anyone else. I’m doing this for myself.”
Her eyes filled with a mix of shock and rage. “So that’s it? You’re just going to throw all of this away? Our deal, our future—everything we’ve planned?”
Rhodes took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, Emerson. I really am. But I can’t stay in this. We both deserve better.”
With that, he placed the divorce papers on the table and turned to leave. He could feel her watching him, the weight of the situation heavy in the air, but he didn’t turn back. He couldn’t.

Later that evening, as Lana stepped out of Rhodes' apartment, she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that had settled in her stomach. The conversation with Emerson had left her on edge, but there was something else lingering in the pit of her stomach, something deeper.
She paused on the sidewalk for a moment, taking a deep breath, trying to shake off the tension. The cool breeze didn’t help—if anything, it only seemed to amplify her discomfort. She felt lightheaded, her thoughts racing, and the nausea swirling inside her only intensified. It was as if her body was reacting to more than just the tension of the day.
She tried to walk it off, her steps slow and deliberate as she made her way toward the subway station. She was almost there when the nausea hit harder, a wave of dizziness overtaking her. The feeling was so strong, it made her wonder if it wasn’t just the emotional stress. What if it was something more?
Lana tried to push the thought aside, telling herself it was just the aftereffects of everything that had happened. She hadn’t been feeling the best for a while, but she chalked it up to all the recent drama and her chaotic emotions. Still, the lingering nausea made her pause, uncertainty creeping in.
She knew it was probably too early to tell for sure, but the idea of what this feeling could mean crossed her mind, and she found herself feeling more anxious than ever. She hadn't even considered it before—why would she? But now, as she stood there trying to steady herself, the thought planted itself firmly in her mind.
Shaking her head, she exhaled deeply. "It’s nothing," she muttered to herself, forcing a smile, even though it felt forced and thin.

A few weeks later, Rhodes was in the shower, the sound of the water running filling the apartment. Lana had come over to visit, as she often did, and was sitting at the table, reading through a book. It was a quiet afternoon, the kind they both enjoyed, but the peace was about to be shattered.
Emerson walked into the kitchen, her heels clicking sharply against the floor. Emerson paused at the doorframe, her eyes scanning the kitchen with a cold look. She crossed her arms, tilting her head slightly, her gaze locking onto Lana in a way that felt far too intense.
"So, how does it feel?" she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
Lana looked up, slightly startled, but Emerson's eyes were already narrowing, a smirk forming on her lips. "How does it feel to be second? To be with someone who’s already promised to someone else?"
Lana blinked, processing the words, her brows furrowing in confusion. "What are you talking about?"
Emerson stepped closer, her voice low and cutting. "You don’t think I know? How cute. You think I don't know what happened between you two a few weeks ago?" She chuckled darkly. "I don't blame you. Rhodes does have that charm. I get it."
Lana stood up, her expression a mixture of anger and disbelief. She hadn't expected any of this. "That’s none of your business," she replied, trying to keep her voice steady.
Emerson’s smile only widened, her eyes flashing with something between amusement and disdain. "Isn't it? I mean, you're still here, aren't you? Hanging around, waiting for your chance. How does it feel to be the second choice?" She tilted her head, eyeing Lana with a challenge. "To know you’ll never be the one he truly picks?"
Lana clenched her fists, the words stinging, but she refused to let Emerson get to her. "You're way out of line, Emerson," she snapped. "I’m not here to fight with you. But if you think you can come in and disrespect me like this, you’re wrong."
Emerson shrugged, as if she couldn’t care less. "I’m just stating the facts, sweetheart." She shot a look toward the bathroom door, where she could hear Rhodes finishing up his shower. "You know, it’s funny. You'd think he'd want someone who isn’t just a temporary distraction."
Lana’s heart hammered in her chest, but she took a deep breath, forcing herself to remain calm. "I’m not your competition, Emerson. I don't need to fight for anything. I’ve known Rhodes long before you ever came into the picture, and I’m not going to let you manipulate me or him."
Emerson seemed to study her for a moment, an unreadable expression crossing her face. For a second, it seemed like she might back off, but then she leaned in, her voice a whisper. "We’ll see how long you last in this game. Things aren’t always as simple as you think."
Before Lana could respond, Emerson turned sharply and walked away, her heels tapping against the floor again as she disappeared down the hall.

After weeks of being swept up in the whirlwind of his new life, Rhodes found himself craving a sense of normalcy. The constant scrutiny, the carefully curated appearances, and the never-ending demands of his public persona were beginning to weigh heavily on him. He realized it had been far too long since he had caught up with Lana, his best friend and the one person who could always ground him.
He picked up his phone and sent her a quick text:
"Hey, you free tonight? Come over, let's catch up."
Within an hour, Lana was at his apartment, armed with a bottle of wine and a bag of snacks. Rhodes smiled as he opened the door, grateful for her familiar presence. They settled on the balcony, the hum of the city outside providing a comforting background noise.
“So, How’s the glamorous life treating you?” Lana teased as she poured them each a glass of wine.
Rhodes sighed. “It’s… a lot,” he admitted. “Honestly, I don’t know how Emerson does it. Every move feels like it’s under a microscope. It’s exhausting.”
Lana raised an eyebrow. “I can imagine. But hey, you signed up for this, right? Fame, fortune, followers?”
“Yeah, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be,” Rhodes said, swirling his wine. “Sometimes I miss just being… me. No cameras, no posts, no pretending.”
Lana softened. “I get it. But you’re still you, Rhodes. You don’t have to lose that.”
The conversation shifted to Lana’s life, and Rhodes felt a wave of nostalgia as she filled him in on her recent adventures. She had started a new job at a design firm, something she had been dreaming about for years. Her excitement was contagious as she spoke about her projects, her new coworkers, and the sense of purpose she felt.
“I’m proud of you, Lana,” Rhodes said sincerely. “You’ve always known what you wanted and gone after it.”
“Thanks,” she said, nudging him playfully. “And don’t think I’m not proud of you too. Even if your life is a little… unconventional right now.”

Back in the bustling city of San Myshuno, the newlyweds, found themselves the talk of the town. Paparazzi lingered outside their apartment building, cameras at the ready, eager to snap any candid moment of the Brittons. Their sudden marriage had skyrocketed their fame, and now every step they took seemed to fuel the public's fascination.
Despite the constant attention, the couple continued their lives, carefully curating what the world saw. Behind closed doors, Emerson meticulously planned their next moves, balancing their schedules with her ever-watchful eye on Simstagram metrics. "We need to keep the engagement alive," she told Rhodes, scrolling through her feed. "Let's give them something to talk about—but only when we want them to."
Their first outing was to the local gym for a casual basketball game. It wasn’t staged, but Emerson made sure they looked the part, dressed in matching athletic gear and sharing a few playful moments on the court. Rhodes, ever the athlete, sank a few three-pointers, and Emerson cheered him on, her laugh echoing through the gym.
A few nights later, they ventured out to a nightclub downtown. The couple danced under the neon lights, blending into the crowd of young professionals and fellow influencers. It was a night full of laughter and fleeting moments of ease for Rhodes, but he couldn’t shake the feeling of playing a role in a carefully scripted play.
