HOHENZOLLERN ALLEE 72-76

a German-inspired 1950s apartment build + a furnished flat

A build download that was in the works for almost a month and made me realise how much I love building local architecture even though it's not the easiest within the constraints of TS4.

It's meant to represent a realistic German apartment build, that is a bit run down and yet still feels homey and nostalgic to those of us growing up near or in these buildings. There's one furnished flat that is ideal for 2-3 sims and furnished in a retro 60s-90s look, that I hope you'll enjoy! This is also a BIG 1K followers gift, with which I want to show my deepest appreciation to all my followers, thank you so much!!

First a little history/backstory to this build:

This build is something you'd see very often in Middle to Northern Europe, less so in the UK, because brick builds there look similar but also different and I based my build off of Northern German brick builds.

The red brick used for these builds dominates the townscapes in quite a few cities where I live and has been used for a few centuries (see Brick Gothic). This build that I based on a real building, however, is more modern and was probably built after WW2, as the design choices, like using tiles on the facades of brick builds is something distinctively 1950s. I know there are older examples, but these buildings usually have more design and decor elements on the facades. These red brick builds were built en masse starting with the 1920s and were usually meant for low-income households. The same goes for the 1950s brick builds, which were built on top of ruins of older buildings destroyed in the war and oftentimes were cheaply constructed and usually don't receive the same appreciation that older pre-war brick builds get, so quite a few are already being demolished for more modern builds.

So what do you get with this build?

Hohenzollernallee 72-76 is a 40x30 lot that I placed in Evergreen Harbor on the Sprucewood Square lot. I created 2 versions of the building, one as a normal residential lot and another as a residential rental. Just choose whatever you want! There are 6 different flats, that have been renovated at different times, which is apparent from the condition of their kitchen and bathroom.. Each flat has its own basement room and the garden is shared between all tenants and there's a shared laundry room in the basement as well.

You'll also have a restaurant shell, the Burger Lab that is not functional currently, but you could make it so if you want.

The furnished flat is playtested and ideal for 2-4 sims max and is heavily 'lived in', meaning very cluttered. I personally see an older woman living there, whose husband already died and her daughter left as soon she turned 18, but the interior was never changed or renovated. I don't know, you could probably come up with a lot of story ideas!

CC is mostly included. You'll find an Excel file with the specific file names and the dl link for all CC that is not included. The build will probably still look okay-ish without the excluded CC but I strongly recommend downloading it, if you do not already have it.

While you can use any nightstand that is the same height as the nightstand from the Laundry Day pack, I still recommend that exact nightstand to get your placement exactly right.

Strangetown Zoo & Optimum Alfred’s Tech Factory TS4 Lots

I couldn't find versions of these lots on the Sims 4 Gallery, so I made my own versions! Both lots are CC-free residential lots and use a handful of packs.

The Strangetown Zoo lot is made with the idea of Sancho & Bigfoot (2 Sims, Bigfoot lives in the top floor) living there. It also has objects for taking care of chickens, cats, dogs, and mini goats and mini sheep.

Optimum Alfred’s Tech Factory was made with Optimum Alfred, a Servo, in mind, but it had items that can be used to restore all of a regular Sim’s needs. There’s some lighting glitches in it, but I'm not sure how to fix any of them?

TS4 Lepacy Challenge (or how TS4 finally got me) pt.2

Gen 9: Vampires + Vintage Glamour stuff

This generation was really, really boring! I'm not into the supernatural theme, so... Forgotten Hollow is tiny, but it's kinda cool for certain sims (great for photos and storytelling). The sim was a real sweetheart, and just because of that, I didn't skip this generation. He was an apprentice to Count Vladislaus Straud, met a girl in Windenburg, found the cure for vampirism, and had a daughter with her. He had a butler and lived in a luxurious house.

Gen 10: Parenthood + Movie Hangout, Kids Room & Toddler stuffs

Babies, babies, and more babies. This girl had a HUGE family! And I tried to follow everything that was asked for in this generation. She married young and had only one love her entire life. She had as many children as she desired, adopted a child, and kept a super well-tended and beautiful garden. This expansion pack is really cute and adds a lot of depth to the relationship between parents and children. It was fun taking care of so many kids, but exhausting! She lived in Newcrest since there wasn't a city requirement.

Gen 11: Cats & Dogs + Laundry Day & My First Pet stuff

In this generation, I ended up getting more attached to the couple's youngest daughter. She was "different," you know how it is. She was all about animals, ran her own vet clinic and worked hard every day. She had a house full of cute kitties and adopted a little girl. Brindleton Bay is simply amazing! I spent a lot of time exploring the town. The pets expansion is also adorable, and I think it's my favorite of all the game's generations (I hardly ever played with pets in TS2 and TS3 because I found it too much work).

(Looks like someone finally got Reshade!) In this generation, I started feeling like taking pictures again, maybe to post them here someday. It's hard to get back :(

Gen 12: Jungle Adventure

I took so many screenshots in this generation, but they just disappeared. I don't know what I did wrong =(

She was a journalist and explorer. Explored a lot of Selvadorada and wrote books about her travels.

Selvadorada is beautiful, but BORING! It was a short generation because I couldn't handle it anymore. I really loved her, but I lost her to an exploration curse.

Gen 13: Seasons + Spooky & Backyard stuff

My long-awaited Seasons expansion! It was such a cute generation!

He reached the top of the gardening career, tended to his garden, and followed all the holiday traditions. He had a little daughter who was a scout. They lived a quiet life in Brindleton Bay.

He tried to make up for everything his mom missed out on because she was always traveling. But they had a good relationship until the end.

Gen 14: Get Famous (Part 1)

OMG, I never thought I'd have such a blast with this expansion! It turned out to be one of the longest ones 'cause I turned off aging in the game.

Del Sol Valley is beautiful but small. Again! I think that's one of the few downsides of TS4 cities. There's very little space for lots. I had so many ideas for this city...

The expansion is really fun, the acting career is well-developed, and it was quite challenging to become a celebrity! I loved all the games, parties, and schemes she had to pull off to truly be considered a star. But most of all, the hard work. I maxed out all the necessary skills. She was perfect! She was the boss! Rich, famous, choosing who she wanted to be with and how. After a while, her job was just being beautiful, hitting the gym, and dodging the paparazzi.

The only one not vibing with all this was her daughter, who went nuts.

i think when it comes to gameplay for ts4 the packs i use the absolute most are

get together (night life and world)

city living (apartments and NO MORE SUBURBAN HELL, plus the jobs)

cats & dogs (obvious)

seasons (obvious)

get famous (fame and career)

growing together (obvious)

spa day (specially after the refresh)

dine out (i never was interested in running a restaurant, but i need them as places to go out to!)

parenthood (obvious)

laundry day (realism)

bust the dust (realism, but modded out dust bunnies and whatnot)

Movie Hangout (why is this not base game fr)

everything else i could live without but that's like a summary of what i tend to overuse in my game to the point where in my mind that's base game and everything else is extra stuff i havent explored even though i always download new releases once its available (for free lmao)

New Sims 4 Worlds Wish List.

‘Tis the season for wish lists and all...

With all the new lot types and whatnot that Game Packs and Stuff Packs has added at this point to The Sims 4, wouldn’t it be nice if the devs made a new blank world based on Oasis Springs in the same way that Newcrest is based on Willow Creek?

Additionally, in a hypothetical Get to Work refresh (it really, really needs it IMO, especially when it bugs out due to having a scenario running, and aliens need to be brought up to date with the other supernaturals), to make an Oasis Springs equivalent to Magnolia Promenade?

Also, the next Expansion Pack really should have a Windenburg-sized world (27 lots! Copperdale and Henford-on-Bagley only have 12, so yeah, expansion pack worlds have definitely been shrinking) after all the small worlds we’ve been getting.

But speaking of refreshes and more lots in worlds, San Myshuno needs a refresh quite badly. There should be apartments on more of the floors/storeys (pick your English) than one per building (all the multi-level floors belong to the same apartments, so no dice). There should also be basement apartments IMO.

Really, an EP world should not have less than 20-30 lots in it, and if it is a metropolitan world, bump it up to 40-50 or something, counting special lots such as high schools and chalet gardens, since players cannot add more lots to their games like in TS2 and TS3.

Additionally, Forgotten Hollow needs a refresh. It is too empty and nothing to attract plasma*ahem*sims for the resident vampires, maybe add slides (children need slides in TS4!) and swings (do we even have any base game ones?) and whatnot to a playground in the town square or something, on top of adding more stuff for adults than chess sets (playgrounds add to the creepy vibe). I would also want a chance of ghosts spawning by the graveyard (beside Vlad’s house) at midnight to make the world feel more unique (imagine ghost children playing in the playground at night...).

Vacation worlds (Granite Falls and Selvadorada), now when rentals are all over the place, should have residential neighborhoods added to them. Heck, one of the Refresh promo sims (Kurt Lumberjackson) is said to have grown up in Granite Falls! Amusement park worlds such as Batuu is fine as a vacation only, but Granite Falls and Selvadorada are meant to be tourist destinations with residents in them!

Oh, and if they insist on selling Kits, they should make World Kits a thing, since they’ve given up on Gameplay Kits. It would also make the Kits feel less that cobbled together assets that weren’t ready for a Pack release (I’m looking at you Laundry Day/Bust the Dust, Country Kitchen/Country Living, Décor to the Max/Paranormal, Blooming Rooms/Eco Lifestyle and Little Campers/Werewolves). Heck, since they would be $4.99, those worlds should be plenty of lots (at least 20-30). But don’t do it before Oasis Springs get a free “Newcrest”, and don’t just recycle assets from existing worlds in the World Kits.
