Who's your favourite sim that you've made?

it's a tie between my 2 little meow meows pictured above 🥺

amir because he's the oc i'm most attached to and have most fully developed

vlad because i just love the way his sim turned out and he's such a fun character to think about

if they ever met, vlad would be like "greetings." and amir would be like "bro what the fucckkk" 😭

speaking of vampires i also love the idea of au-vampire-amir being this ashamed, existential crisis having vegetarian vampire who struggles with controlling and hiding his bloodlust.

i never get bored coming up with ideas for those 2.

What's your favourite Sims death?

it's been YEARS since i intentionally made any of sims die. i barely do gameplay these days and i am attached to the sims i make. but when i used to play sims chaotically, i preferred to "accidentally" murder sims by fire instead of deleting the pool ladder. i would furnish their houses with the cheapest stoves and fireplaces, and sit back and watching the inevitable unfold... it was the final destination fan in me.

i can't live without alpha hair and i love a well done piece of alpha clothing.

if we're talking about TS4, i think the ginger hair colour is okay and the grey too. for TS3, i don't use any of the default hair colour presets.

i've tried so hard and i just cannot enjoy any of them compared to the alpha cc hair available. in my opinion this is the least offensive one, the "teddy" from the store:

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

i've always preferred creating masculine male sims/characters, that hasn't changed throughout the years. i've learned how to take better pictures, how to style my sims better, how to create the kinds of clothes i want to style them in, and i've learned my preferred slider settings and facial features/proportions. i make the same "genre" of male sims over and over and over again, so my style hasn't really changed, but my skills have improved and i've solidified my aesthetic which i am proud of :D

Who's your favourite CC creator?

i really can't pick a favourite because there is just so much sheer talent and a thriving cc community even today, but if i had to pick one, i would say rustynail. i used the shit out of their cc back in the day. everything my sims wore was straight off the runway darling... rusty brought glamour and high fashion to the sims! an inspiration.

How long have you had a simblr?

since even before 2013 😭 tumblr was my main social media for many years LMFAOOOOO and i made a simblr after following many ts3 blogs, being wowed by their screenshots, and i wanted to join in on the fun and wanted to download all the cool cc people were making... that was the start of my ts3 obsession !

How do you edit your pictures?

i use a gshade preset i made, then i mostly just crop and add text in gimp. i don't have the patience to edit my pics.

What expansion/ stuff pack is your favourite?

late night duh and seasons is a close second because it just makes the game so much more immersive and beautiful. pets is also a top one because it adds so much to the game, it's such a well thought out pack in my opinion, and what life simulator can be complete without pets?

ADOPT A GENIUS SIM - MAEVE RIORDAN + NINA!

Salutations, fellow human creatures who are waiting hopelessly for snow that'll never fall. I once again bring you a sim to download and this time it is my baby, Maeve.

I'm particularly attached to Maeve as she was my first born-in-game infant - I remember back in autumn 2022 I was playing with a sim named Devon (...maybe I could share her too 👀) and after settling down we were all ready to get Gen 4 *made*...but then infants were announced so I paused everything until spring the following year when we got the update & Growing Together, and I'm so glad I did, the gameplay revived my interest in ts4 and Maeve became my most accomplished sim ever, she was everything I haven't managed to be irl.

Top Notch infant + toddler, Computer Team Captain in high school, valedictorian, she completed the Whiz Kid, Goal Oriented, Academic, and Nerd Brain aspirations, went to Foxbury and got a distinguished degree in Physics, explored the Journey to Batuu pack where I impulsively threw her relationship under the bus and had her cheat on her boyfriend with a Batuuan scoundrel who ended up being the father of her children, finally she reached the top of the Astronaut career and in general made me very happy.

She's the perfect sim for challenges, very skills & career focused - in my game she had 2 kids only because it's a legacy and the firstborn wasn't vibing with me and my heir standards.

As a bonus you also get Nina the goodest doggo - if you look closely the white fur patch around her eye is heart-shaped, just like Maeve's birthmark :3

Minimal CC (except defaults!!!) is as usual included - apart from the shoes, hair, make-up, and skin details she exclusively uses EA items from various packs.

Still don't know what it all means. I like all clothes, photoskinned super old clothes, with high quality, but also stuff converted from other games. As long as they have nice shoes and morphs.

No, but this is TS2, I once played TS4 and they got fat so fast... I was like, what is going on here?!

4. Do you use move objects?

Only to help Sims who get stuck. Not to place objects.

Moniques hacked computer. I use it so much: loans for starters, buying electronics, buying clothes, groceries, fish and produce.

TS1, loved it, so my brother got me TS2. I bought TS3 and TS4 (basegame) but I don't like those Sims.

📱 What made you want to start a simblr?

i got ts4 back when it came out but i was graduating high school/figuring out uni stuff at that time so i didn't really get too into the online community until around 2018, i was looking for cc and realized all the good mm stuff was on tumblr and oh boy! there's a bunch of people here sharing fun sims posts hell yeah i'm staying here! so i ended joining simblr in 2019 :)

As much as the character creator got a big buff in Legendary Edition, it was still never enough to convey the design that my Shepper has in my head. However with so much cc out there TS4 could definitely provide where ME:LE couldn’t in the design department!

This is her! Her name is Mercy Vedati (Shepard isn’t her canon name in my headcanon, I gave her a south asian surname instead c:)

She’s a 32 year old biracial lady (Nepalese-Dominican) and also has CIPA. Like Joker, an illness that would normally have a high mortality rate has a lot of treatments in the ME universe to facilitate Mercy living a life that allows her to be in the military. As a Spacer it certainly helped having access to military health insurance as a dependent! 

Her mother: Ekta Vedati is Nepalese and a buddhist, and Mercy was raised in this religion but did not start actively practicing it until after the Sole Survivor incident on Akuze in order to cope with her trauma.

Aligning with her beliefs, she’s a paragon who does not drink, is a vegetarian, and only ever kills in self-defense. 

As she’s an infiltrator I model her more after the N7 Shadow in multiplayer, so she uses a sword, rather than a katana esque shape, she owns both a kukri and a kora sword, but only wields one at a time. She also practices bajra, a nepali martial art that Ekta taught her that combines kyokushin, thai boxing, kick boxing and taekwondo to make quite an effective martial art form.

She does not have a hamster, but instead a two-meter Indian rock python named Karma. Her fish tank is filled with banded catsharks and rather than model ships she has her swords mounted on the wall of her cabin. 

One of the last memories she had of her father who passed away when she was still a child was of reading her a fantasy book with unicorns in it to calm her when she would have nightmares of the ships they lived on spontaneously exploding. Inspired by the nature of unicorns being a good omen, she started vandalising ships by finding a hidden spot to carve a tiny unicorn into a panel to “protect the ship.” She has since grown out of that fear, but to keep her father’s memory alive she instead carves a little unicorn into each of her guns and on both of her swords.

Her relationship with Garrus is more of a slowburn in my head, with regular sparring sessions on the Normandy Turian style to keep them both sharp in close quarter combat. And it took Mercy time to build up the courage to ask him that fateful question.

Thoughts on the livestream:

The build/buy stuff is pretty great.

“Science baby” is 1) hilariously named and 2) an absolutely great feature that I didn’t expect to be added.

I am 70% sure that, model-wise, infants are just toddlers sized down. (Like people used to do for screenshots in TS3 days, lol.) It’s kind of hard to tell them apart.

Love the new skin details. They already exist as CC, of course, but it’s still cool.

I’m glad they fixed the high chair, but it is painfully, painfully overdue. EA’s slow response to TS4 bugs is honestly kind of inexcusable when the product costs so much.

Neat neighborhood. Looks like twelve or thirteen lots. Fairly middling for TS4′s later DLCs. Still wish it was bigger. I also hope it has proper collection nodes, which seem to have been forgotten in many of the neighborhoods past the base game.

I don’t think literally anyone outside of the TS4 dev team has ever cared if the world names are literal.

The pie menu recategorization is also very overdue.

Some of these quirks go a bit far on the gross factor. Two relating to piss is at least one too many.

Memories coming back in sort of a TS2 style is quite nice.

Mid-life crises were great in TS3, cool to see them back.

That movie theater rabbithole is pretty much the same as TS3′s. I used it on ocassion in 3, but I have a feeling I’ll hardly ever in 4, since going through a loading screen just to get to a rabbithole -- it is in one neighborhood of one world, after all -- doesn’t seem like something I, or many other people, would do often.

More trait slots were also sorely needed, especially with all the filler like Lactose Intolerant taking up 33.3% of your Sim’s personality, but they should really have added the three additional slots to CAS.

Overall: Looks like a pretty good pack, though I’m sure plenty of bugs and annoyances will make themselves known after release. Would’ve been nice to have earlier in the game’s lifespan; these are honestly almost all pretty sorely needed changes and features, and this is likely in the last year or two of TS4.

The very first Sims game I ever played was The Sims 3, on the Xbox 360 console, when I was a teenager. Back then, TS3 was one of the bigger and newer EA games of the time, and it was everywhere. I spent hours in front of the TV, playing my households with no CC or DLC, wrapped up in my own imagination, no consideration for picture-taking, nothing! Just pure self-indulgent fun. I wasn’t a PC gamer and I had no idea CC or Simblr even existed. It was a much simpler time.

I think it was around the final year of high school when I first stumbled across sims CC somewhere on the internet. (Someone had posted screenshots of their very attractive male sim, that I do remember. Explains a lot doesn’t it?) I can’t remember the exact time. It might have been on my personal Tumblr account (all my friends had one and we thought we were so cool) or even Google Images lmao. My mind was blown. I never knew you could make hot sims. I immediately bought a Sims 3 CD and installed it on my Dad’s laptop. The PC version of TS3 was so much better. That was also when I started a Simblr, to follow others and share my own pics... this very same one!

After I discovered CC and Simblr, I never played the game the same way ever again. My interest shifted to character creation and ~fashion~ I guess. The endless amount of simspiration and CC spoiled me and ruined my appreciation for the game in its untouched form. I wanted my sims, my builds, my pictures, everything to look perfect, and I was never satisfied. I viewed my game and my content through other people’s eyes, not my own.

I remember being so in awe of everyone else on here. At the time, I only had the base game, I didn’t know how to torrent anything, my Dad’s laptop could barely run the game, I didn’t have money to buy dlc, and I had no idea how to make any kind of CC other than the simplest graphic edits. All I really did was make sims and pose them for photoshoots. Obsessively downloaded a shit ton of other people’s CC. Wrote a little bit here and there. Played my household once in a blue moon. Everyone else, with their cliques and fun legacies and bachelorette challenges and CC creations and intricate builds and amazing editing, seemed so much cooler than me. There were so many different websites and forums and blogs. The TS3 player base was huge. I was amazed by all of it. I couldn’t believe we were all playing the same game. I couldn’t believe people were so creative and talented. It was an odd mixture of admiration, envy, and feeling like an outsider compared to the “big” Simblrs of the time.

I made some simple cc here and there to contribute to the community, but I didn’t know what I was doing and I didn’t take it seriously. I wanted to create better things but it all seemed so complicated, and I didn’t think I was smart enough to learn.

Then, I went off to university. Away from my Dad’s laptop, I lost interest in the game, and became preoccupied with other life things and other console games. I wasn’t really around for the release of The Sims 4. I was busy, and it just didn’t have the same magic. For a few years, I didn’t even log into this Tumblr account. I didn’t pick up TS3 again until right before the pandemic happened, on a nostalgic whim. 

When I first started posting again in 2019/2020, I didn’t expect much. A lot of my previous Simblr mutuals/friends were no longer here. Every post on my dashboard was about TS4. Most of my followers from years ago were no longer active. There were only a few familiar faces left. It was lonely, coming back here only to see how everyone had moved on, and I was nobody. But still, the game was just as fun as I remembered it, with years’ worth of new CC to check out, so I kept playing and posting and catching up on all I had missed, and slowly I started finding community again.

Now that I’m a bit older, I find myself appreciating the game a lot more, in ways I couldn’t before. The beautiful scenery. The open world. The Create-a-Style tool. The maxis-match aesthetic. The humor. The dated yet charming look of the clothes and the townies and the worlds. The time in my life when the game was still new.

I also feel like it’s easier and less stressful to participate in the community now that I have a little bit more maturity than when I was 18. It feels freer and more fun. When I read posts by simmers talking about how they feel like their content is not good enough, or comparing themselves to others, I feel sad. I used to feel the same way. But being “good” at Simblr/social media, and having fun with the game (in whichever way you define fun), are two very different things. I hope that makes sense. It took me some time to learn how to not let comparison steal my joy, and give myself permission to just do what I wanted to do, regardless of whether other people might like it or not. When I look back on my older posts, I feel like I’ve grown so much, both as a simmer and a person.

Well, maybe I haven’t changed that much. I still love my hot pixel men.

I’m so glad I came back to Simblr. My simming hobby has turned into a much bigger thing than I ever thought it would. I mean, I learned how to make CC that other people like? I’ve made so many new connections? My sims have become OCs I’m attached to? I see the TS3 community being revived again as EA drives TS4 into the ground more and more each day? Who would’ve guessed 😆 

I love this game, I love the creativity it inspires in me, and I love the wonderful people that make up this little corner of the internet. ✨💛
