Since sadly my crybaby whims challenge is coming to an end, I’m going to be starting a new challenge the sims in bloom legacy, I like it cause it focuses on gameplay I’ve never touched, plus I’m already hooked on Ambrosia, the matriarch, I have such a love for her !

I’m excited to try it out. I’m so sad about my crybaby whims like I can’t play it rn because I can’t let it end.

On the Sims 1 & 2 Rerelease

I'll be the first to admit I did not play Sims 1. But I did play Sims 2 and 3 when they released, and for a long time before I played 4, and believe me, the amount of people complaining about how awfully buggy TS2's remaster was have been absolutely spoiled with Sims 4. Hell, the romanticisation of TS2 at the hands of big-name simmers also ticked me off, but I won't fault them because I'm not immune to nostalgia either. As much as the TS4 community claims to hate whaling for EA on TS4 packs, it doesn't change the fact that TS4 manages to still be nowhere near as broken as TS2. That's not saying much in light of the recent game breaking glitches people are reporting in TS4, but it's something.

Pink/Purple soup is nothing new. Hell, back in my day it was blue soup. There would be blue soup on people's heads, there would be blue soup on their teeth if they were vampires, there would be blue soup in the eyes, there would be blue soup in the pool. Everything had the chance to become blue soup. Back in my day it was my save file corrupting because I did literally anything, up to and including:

Bringing back Bella Goth in Pleasantview.

Asking to be bit by the Grand Vampire, subsequently leading to him or her eventually biting an incomplete sim like Agnes.

Making any positive or negative memories with homeless townies

Bringing back Bella Goth in Strangetown

Creating a baby with Utility Sims like Grim or the shrink

Playing the Curious or Beaker households in Strangetown

Trying to play the Romeo and Juliet gameplay in Veronaville

Trying to resurrect premade ghosts anywhere

Cheating NPCs to show up at the house because I was young and dumb and didn't learn that lesson for nearly five years

Doing literally anything in Strangetown and Veronaville

Visiting Downtown anywhere after the Grand Vampire has bitten someone in the save file, once again leading to him eventually biting an NPC or incomplete sim... Like Agnes.

Putting I Am Dead Tokens on sims to see what would happen.

Using the height cheat to make everyone 20 feet tall

Turning on testingcheats and using every cheat I could find

Making Don Lothario woohoo with every last grown man and woman in Pleasantview (Yes, that happened, my save file was crying blue by the end of it)

Sims 2 being a self-corrupting nightmare when left unattended in vanilla is nothing new, and the amount of people crapping on about how broken the game was compared to how veteran simmers romanticised it got old REAL quick. Yes, Sims 2 had a lot of cool content and a good chunk of it still isn't in Sims 4. But at least your save file won't get corrupted because Vlad bit a premade townie. Probably. Trust me, you will enjoy the Sims franchise a lot more when you realise that it's always been a buggy mess at every stop and turn, take it on the chin, and play the installment that best suits your needs and whims. There are still so many performance improving mods out there, likely for all the games, and some of these modders will eventually come out of the woodworks to update for the definitive edition.

Aiden Jordan: a quick history aka my boooooooyyy

He is Shang but like, TS4. I love him. I will cry when he dies. He’s been such a fun mess. Like, I honestly did not expect any of this but he is the reason I installed Wicked Whims... because the bed is not the appropriate place for someone who is quite literally banging his way through Selvadorada.

Aiden was always intended to be my explorer. His traits make him an interesting sort of dude: Loves Outdoors, Charismatic, Cute, Child of Nature, Adventurous. I have a soft spot for adventurous sims. I’ve done jack all with Selvadorada, so he was my guy. I was going into those temples, damn it!

Poor Aiden got sidelined because Olivia went to Uni, so his teen years were a blur. I tried to get him a girlfriend or something, anything, but there were too few girls and zero chemistry. So he has dated almost exclusively Selvadoradian ladies (with one Sulani sidepiece) his entire life. It’s all right. It kept things from getting messy.

Or should have. He met Samanta Robles the first time he arrived and was instantly taken with how hot she was. She was one of his first conquests. Unfortunately for him, Samanta had plans. I knew from the second he got the moodlet wondering whether or not Samanta was being real or fake that she was my girl. Despite this, Aiden continued through most of his YA days tomb (and WOMB) raiding nonplussed.

Until Samanta sat him down and was like “so, what’re we going to do about this pregnancy problem?” I hadn’t really intended for Aiden to marry but I was banking on at least one of his girls getting knocked up. But my guy was careful, way more than I thought he’d be. So Samanta was a pleasant surprise! 

Samanta moved in, because Aiden may be casual, but he’s not a total jerk. They didn’t become exclusive. Not even after Maximo was born. But that won’t stop Samanta. She didn’t claw her way out of Selvadorada to be some guy’s baby mama. Homegirl has plans. She’s Mischevious, Bad-Natured, Envious... most importantly she’s hot and smart.

Single and lovin’ it, you say? not for long.

I just keep thinking about how much a rip off cats and dogs was. I never particularly wanted a pets type pack for TS4 because I don’t play with them (because I start crying like a baby when they die. Plus cats and dogs came out a year after my baby Winston died) But I’m just thinking about gameplay because that’s where I feel TS4 lacks the most. I’ve been disappointed this year with the two things I actually wanted (Island Paradise for 4 and Witches. Those are the two things from TS3 that I love the most) Making Silence + her family makes me more inclined to play with witches but... not excited to. 

But on this note, I’m curious if you’re someone who was DYING for pets in TS4 and specifically if you loved them in TS3 how Cats and Dogs felt to you. Because just comparing them one to one, we got substantially less for 10$ more. TS3 Expansion packs were 30$. TS4 ones are now 40$. 

In TS3 you got 3 playable big pets. Horses, Cats, and Dogs. Each of them had a good amount of items specific to them. Dog houses could be used for cats and dogs. You could make little barns to put the horse stables in. You could ride them around. But the big thing was that you also could play them. You could switch to them and control them. Past this the households were set up so your big pets were in a different list than the main household. Which meant you could have 8 sims and 8 pets (i assume. i never got to the point of a full household lol) 

Then on top of that you had 5 terrariums with 5 different small animal types. Lizards, Birds, Turtles, Snakes, and Rodents. My favorite are the snakes and turtles. They each had their own terrarium, and birds had two options. For small birds there was the birdcage, for big birds there was the bird tree which meant they were free to fly around the room. Past all of this you also got a full kitchen, bathroom, and living room set. I think also a bedroom set AND some horse themed furniture for kids. All that for 30$. 

The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs you get two unplayable pets. They count toward your main household. They are the only things to have a color wheel??? The world is nice and so is build/buy, but there’s no complete kitchen set. In fact Parenthood really is the kitchen set that goes with C+D. Sure you can train dogs and cats to hunt, dogs to do tricks... But when you aren’t allowed to control them and see their whims (even tho that system is suuuuuch a joke) it’s not much better than babies in ts4. 

And EA you’re then shocked by how angry people got when a few months later, for 10 dollars more you were to include rodents? Just rodents? To get half the amount of animals that TS3 had you need to pay almost twice as much. Can you blame the community at this point for being so frustrated with you? Yeah. The game looks nice. But if there is no substance what’s the point. 

And if you’re like well then stop buying things from them you are really missing the point. For one, I haven’t bought the last two stuff packs BECAUSE I felt like they weren’t worth it. And like I said, this year two of the things that I genuinely wanted were released. So I bought them. If I had to I might not buy ROM again. I wouldn’t buy Strangerville again. And EA/TS4 knows how to cut a good trailer. So I was hopeful. At this point I’ve spent over 500$ on this game. And for 500$ you’d think that this game wouldn’t have this many inherent problems. And, for 500$ I sure as shit am allowed to have critiques on it. 

Anyway. The more I think about it the more genuinely disappointed I am. I love the sims. I know the sims really has an opportunity to be incredible. But unfortunately I think that they have grown too comfortable being the only game of their type. I hope that Paralives will bring the competition that they need to get their asses into gear. Or maybe it’s time for The Sims to end. 

tl;dr: sims 4 makes me sad and I can’t wait for paralives to come out.

This is generation 6 of crybaby whims, I’ve been keeping a loose following on this, on tumblr,…

Introducing you to herrrr…..this is Ruka, and she had moved out with a friend in a trailer park, for some long time, After the abuse of her mom. Up until she saved enough money hustling anything she could, lol. She’s got a two bedroom house now, she met her boyfriend whilst thrifting for clothes to sell, and they hit it off. She now is a mother of twins (I didn’t even check Mc command or that wouldn’t have happened LMAO) so they are just dating still not even engaged with two infants and another on the way! Hamza is her bd, he is so cute I will share him with youu in a bit. She is now saving for a bigger house because she wants to be a mom of many, I think 5 kids is the goal.

Anywayyssss I’m having so much fun with infants! And I’m also loosely following the rules of crybaby whims. I hate that I have to make the sister still her man I can’t do it T-T .

God damn I love cry baby whims so much. Idk if it’s my love for Melanie Martinez and the sims 4 clashing but something about this challenge. I’ve never loved any sim household I ever made like I’ve loved this generation. I have 3,000 hours in this game and not until 2022 did I start this household and I’ve been hooked non stop since.

I’m now on generation 7 and this is Maeve Status. She is so beautiful. Such a sweet girl for the tragic life she’s had to live. I can’t say she’s perfect but no one is. She’s made plenty of mistakes but so do we all :) their history of heirs, I truly love them all. I can’t stop playing their household. And I used to jump into cas every time I got on sims before this challenge, now I can’t even think of leaving them behind 😂
