Trychinebau gets her specialized mount made by her awakened friend, Masiki.

It's kind of a mix between a jackal and a griffon with a tar attack similar to the branded riftstalker's ring attacks. It's inspired by the bird/griffon? statues adorning structures around the crystal desert. I've always loved those.

The individual wing feathers detach and rearrange themselves for gliding purposes. A web of tar connects them to the main body.

Gonna design an outfit for Trychinebau that incorporates elements of all of these. I managed to come up with an in-game look that I like, but I really love the skirt of the Daydreamer's Finery outfit. Plus, I'm mad that I can't get that NPC's fit, so I'm going to use that as well.

Also, didn't realize it at first, but this funerary cowl makes her eyes red sometimes. Love that.

Trychinebau had a productive evening repairing Joko's staff and singing his praise in the Domain of Vabbi.

In her original world, Trychinebau often relied on Masiki's help when her joints got too stiff to move. She scared many awakened soldiers with her cold stare, but more often than not, it was a mask to keep up the appearance of being in control while in her most weakened state.

Sketched up its combat abilities.

Jump: creates rings of tar that knock back and slow enemies. Block: uses its wings to block attacks. Knocks back enemies in front of it when it ends. Dash: knocks back enemies in its path and leaves a trail of corrosive fields. Also uses its claws and beak to attack enemies in front of it.

Basically applies a frustrating amount of knock back and some condition damage.

Trychinebau, my new Awakened Sylvari! It's about time I made an Awakened character to Praise Joko.

Unfortunately, since she was pulled out of her universe where Joko defeated the commander and into my other characters' world, she hasn't really found the need to sing his praises. In fact, she's quite content with her new freedom.

I've got her in an outfit while I unlock Mirage on her. Thinking about changing her hair color to gold or tar dipped.

Stopping here for tonight, but I made a lot of progress on Trychinebau's fit.

Also a preview of the new hair color I picked for her. It matches better with the colors in game than the one I picked for this but oh well.

Fun fact: Trychinebau's irises are grey but can take on a gold, red, or blue tint in the day. At night, they glow a bright white, the only part of her body that retains the sylvari's characteristic glow after her awakening.

In the end, everything circles back to Basmani.

I was planning to have Basmani intersect briefly with Trychinebau and Masiki before parting ways but the plans have changed.

Masiki is joining Basmani’s efforts to reforge the Forged by crafting gold masks modeled off of the faces they had when they were alive for those who aren’t ready to pass on to the mists.

Started making Trychinebau's playlist. The songs have both lyrical significance and an overall vibe, so I'm happy with how it's turning out.

It’s 5am and I got woken by an emergency alert test so have some sleepy notes on Trychinebau:

Almost became NMC but was ‘saved’ by previous reality’s Commander

was in a one sided friendship with said Commander who dragged her along

was a Pale Reaver during personal story

suspiciously absent during HOT because she wasn’t going anywhere near that jungle

was dragged to the desert and hated it

Commander’s friend who didn’t like her and knew she wasn’t good pushed her into quicksand and left her for dead

✨Awakened✨

bargained with Joko to not be a mindless killing piece but instead a weapon of subterfuge

put on a Mesmer disguise to look like she was fine and returned to the Commander

was good at hiding her emotions from Sylvari empathy before so nobody really notices that she’s not connected anymore

quickly devises an accident to get rid of the Commander’s friend before they can tell

informs Joko of the Commander’s movements and helps lead them into a trap

Joko kills the Commander, not sure about Aurene yet - keeps her as a pet/captive?

anyhow, Trychinebau holds a pretty lofty position after that and generally hangs around in Vabbi

is helping to train newly awakened when:

⁉️dragged through the mists by Brydolon and swiftly thrown back in ⁉️

but Brylox and Chaskana ram into her when jumping through sand portals and she’s knocked back into a different reality’s Crystal Desert

angrily grapples with Chaskana until she’s thrown off and stops as she realizes what’s different

she’s free

there is no more Joko

now very Chill, she hangs around the sidelines of my main group for a bit

travels to Jahai bluffs to collects the remnants of this Joko’s staff

gives her some kinda closure

she connects with the awakened of this reality and helps them settle into this life without Joko

Yeah that was longer than I thought it’d be.

Anyhow. She’s not a good person. She doesn’t really feel any remorse for selling her world to Joko but she wasn’t really a fan of him either. It’s just how things went.

she’s a very go with the flow person and if the flow stabs you in the back, turn around and kill it.
