#truth and ideals pmd idea

if we assume “world where humans live in an alternate universe”: reshiram and zekrom are a weird universal constant that sort of just came into being with their counterparts in the human/“main” world. they exist as a sort of... bridge with the human world, a weird sort of dual existence that exists within both worlds at once but also... doesn’t? like, they know there’s a human world and that they also exist there, but they don’t really know *why* or *how.* kyurem feasibly might (or did, at one point), but reshiram and zekrom? no.

if we assume “world where humans used to exist but now don’t”: it’s been so long that reshiram and zekrom presumably no longer remember their heroes or anything about them, really, just the ideas they represent (truth and ideals, respectively, ofc)--they’ll be drawn to any human-turned-pokemon just out of instinct, and i feel like they do kind of feel something missing from themselves in that way, but still serve the same general purpose as dragon force keepers and what have you

imagine you're in a family of pokemon. Your older sister is mean to everyone, your mom tells everyone what she says is truth, and your dad is so blindsided with love and affection that he excuses everything your family does.

You're a bit mean, as well.

But then one day you meet someone new. And you two start up a rivalry thing. And with every passing day you realize with a start that they're the nicest someone has ever been to you, and you've been treating them a bit like shit.

And when you drift away from your family to spend more time with your rival, your dad asks you why you don't like your family and you almost explode on him. And he doesn't understand why your sister and mother are deterrents to you spending time with him like you used to.

Anyway that's the character concept for my Houndour character who I haven't named yet

the basis of the idea is this: there's a continent. of course there is. And ruling over this continent are the legendaries of unova: zekrom, reshiram, and kyurem. and the pokemon lived on that continent, blissful in the knowledge that their deities would protect them.

Of course, then kyurem went missing.

as did their temple of close followers/friends.

and without kyurem, zekrom and reshiram slowly, but surely, turned against each other.

as this feud started, and continued, the two legendaries had an idea.

if they had a human for their respective sides, someone to pull to their side and be a powerful force, they could gain control over everything here. that's what they need, to show the thing they have control over is truly the greatest, forgetting about balance completely.

They reach out for a human. At the same time, the... uh, life force of the world isn't exactly happy this is happening, and reaches out for a human to help bring the continent back to peace and being balanced and not on the brink of war constantly

and the humans that they grab are influenced by this. a trio of friends. Vanessa, Rue, and Yui. Vanessa becomes a Minccino, Rue a Zorua, and Yui a Riolu.

V is the Hero of Truths, who wants to get back home. Rue is the Hero of Ideals, who wants to stay. and Yui is... something. she doesn't quite know at the start, or even the middle, really. She just knows her friends are here, somewhere.

she figures out eventually, through a visit to kyurem's empty temple and then an adventure into the earth, that she was summoned to be a balance- to be that force. this is why she's a riolu it's the whole aura thing

from there, she finds her friends again, who have gone through Experiences of their own- Vanessa blew up a town and unintentionally rallied those with reshiram to increase their ferocity because of interpreting that village burning as a punishment for being too light (which she kept a secret. yes, the hero of truth kept a secret. intentional.), and Rue razing a farm to the ground and ruining a family's livelihood, and the moment she found out about it, she ran herself ragged in an attempt to punish herself constantly- not very idealistic of her.

from there the idea doesn't have much of a plotline but i'm still figuring it out. the idea is that they eventually group up after fighting each other for a bit, and then have to push through their former allies to get to reshiram and zekrom.

and then they discover they aren't stuck with one or the other in terms of being in the pmd world or the human world, which rue cries over in relief. but! yeah. maybe one day i'll actually write this out and it'll be perhaps a bit more complex but it's fun to mess around with

so I know solidly about ONE npc in truth and ideals pmd. And it's the adult who took Vanessa in and is basically another parent.

Anyway the development that Aurorus' house was in the village Vanessa ravaged was new and yet it adds so many delicious layers and also makes me have to think about where the other pokemon are that maybe they're not affected

A Pokemon is born with a natural aura, built for the elements they were meant to wield, and maybe a bit outside of it if they work for it. Any more power outside of it, like a legendary's power and aura, would not mesh well.

A human does not have a natural aura, nor do they have elements they are meant to wield. They start at low lows, and can achieve the greatest highs.

Their new forms do not have a limit. They are a vessel.

These vessels can hold legendary power very well.

And if that power spirals out of control due to the amount of it, well...

it's a small price to pay for having a hero of your own. a small price to pay for having a human on your side. a village is nothing compared to holding power over an entire continent, after all.

Just a basic idea. Vanessa meets Yui earlier on in Yui's quest to figure out What The Hell Is Wrong With This Continent. Vanessa has an inkling of familiarity, and while Yui doesn't tell her anything, Vanessa does think about the encounter here and there...

Details later but hmm. Hmmm. Thinking about it.
