Hi! I’m thinking about replaying Origins, and I don’t know what class/build I should try next. What class/specialisation would you recommend gameplay-wise?

In my opinion, dual-wielding rogue and mage are the two most fun classes gameplay-wise, since they both have the most ability-centred fighting mechanics. If you like to keep moving your character around, I suggest dual-wielding rogue. If you like to keep your character stationary, I suggest mage.

It was one of those rare occurrences where Shougo would show up to practice without having Shuuzou drag him there.

But something had been off about him. 

Shougo's play was slow and sloppy as if he had been running out of gas, and the only thing keeping him up was spite. 

Or at least until…

Tetsuya passed him the ball.

Instead of catching it like he usually did, it slammed right into his head and knocked him right off his feet. 

"Fuck!" Shougo groaned, rubbing the back of his head. "That hurt."

"Sorry, Haizaki—Kun," Tetsuya apologized, offering him a hand. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Shougo said, not bothering to take Tetsuya's hand as he stood up on shaky legs. He took one step forward and went back down, hitting the gym floor hard like a sack of onions.

do you have any gender/sexuality headcanons for characters besides pd/vestal/gr/runaway?

also is there any one character that gives off the most trans, bi, or ace vibes?

Fair warning, while I do definite have these sorts of headcanons, I do have a heavy preference towards the excluded heroes, so these will be a bit more vague. That's just how I am, I unfortunately get very focused on just a few specific characters and then forget the others Exist. But with that out of the way, they shall be under the readmore, and in alphabetical order by Class (and of course skipping the ones that we already know my headcanons about...)

Abomination/Bigby: I personally headcanon him as being aromantic and bisexual, uninterested in romance. Never much of a thing for him, never much cared, chill with it all. He's Just Vibing

Antiquarian/Josephine: She's my biggest asexual headcanon actually! I just see her as being ace, no real reason why, just kinda my Thing:tm:

Arbalest/Missandei: Transhet. Can't explain why, just transhet, and we love her for it.

Bounty Hunter/Tardif: Snort.

Crusader/Reynauld: He's a toughie. I feel bi, but with a whole lot of repression/shit to work through before he'd ever accept it, and even then it would be just casually going "huh." about it

Flagellant/Damian: Oh, you madman. Definitely not Cishet, no clue what the FUCK you are though. I cannot say anything. Unlabeled in my eyes. He is There and he is Existing. Thriving.

Hellion/Boudica: She's a trans lesbian in my eyes!

Highwayman/Dismas: Dimas... Again, I feel bi for him, but he's pretty secure in it, when compared to others. Not exactly having any angst or crisis over it

Houndmaster/William: That is a cishet ally who will send Fergus after anybody that makes one of his friends feel uncomfortable.

Jester/Sarmenti: Heeheehoohoo my friends are always shocked when im like "yeah he's cool he's just not one of my favorite heroes to think or write about" anyways that is a gay nonbinary man in my head. Keep on laughing you funky lil fella.

Leper/Baldwin: Another gay man, but refined. Dignified. A calming guy you could trust.

Man at Arms/Barristan: Cishet, big fuckin ally, you could tell this old man your woes and he wouldn't understand but he'd probably give you a big hug or Old Man Wisdom.

Musketeer/Margaret: She's my honorary "horrendously mean lesbian." She's awful. Thinly veiled insults where at least my other "mean Lesbian Headcanons" will pretend to not be calling you stupid. She will call you stupid and more. She is nasty and bitter and spitting venom galore. you can see i've thought about her a Lot

Occultist/Alhazred: I wish i could say, I HONESTLY wish I could say, I got nothing for him. No headcanons. no vibes. he's there.

Shieldbreaker/Amani: Greyromantic lesbian. She very rarely, if ever, would fall in love but if she does it would be with a woman.

As for the character that gives off the most trans/bi/ace vibes... Dismas is the character that I feel the most just unadulterated bi vibes from, I cannot say anything else. Just The Vibes

how do you feel about the fan theories linking the crusader and highwayman backstory comics? as always, love your meta!

Ah, thank you! I'm always worried people won't like the way I interpret things, so happy to hear that :D

as for the main topic, I do actually enjoy it! However, as with most Darkest Dungeon theories, it's something you kind of have to squint to see.

Now, this isn't a bad thing! It's just a fact, it's kinda "Squinty," you gotta look hard to see it. It's similar to "Audrey is referring to Paracelsus in that one masochistic bark." It's something I enjoy and personally like to believe, but it might not be and sometimes you have to look a bit hard to see. But also, fuck it, if you wanna have fun and say so, just do it!

On one hand, I could see how the families seem similar (shown below)

(A mother and a son, both with similar hair and relatively similar outfits, though the carriage woman and son duo seems a bit fancier. Maybe they found wealth after the Crusader left? Who knows!)

However! It also seems that the boy is quite younger in the HWM's comic than in the Crusader's.

BUT! It could also be simply inconsistent art! The wonders of trying to provide evidence! /j

Anyways, I have three main interpretations of the HWM comic:

1. HWM killed Crusader's family, meaning if he connects the dots that crusader=part of that family, he has to deal with the guilt and pain of knowing what he did. Interesting, adds for lots of fun dynamics, all around good pick!

2. HWM killed a random family. No real connection to it, except for the fact that he, you know... Killed an innocent family and deals with the guilt of it, knowing he did something so awful when he mightve been able to, uh, not do that. Safe choice, probably what's actually going on, but gets rid of some of the Fun Tension

3. Extremely unlikely, but that was HWM's own family, I don't think I have to say much else.

Anyways! Rambles aside, basic idea is this: I like the theory quite a bit, it tends to be the main one I use when writing my own story, but it also makes sense to claim something else.
