It's just me, you and the sea.
Warren Rojas x Fem!Reader
✧.* requested by anon — Hey there love! I got this idea: The reader is a director, especially music videoclips, she is Billy and Graham's sister (or not, your choice). When she's working, she is very professional, very confident too, but outside of work, she's a little more insecure, shy, and quiet, and Warren just loses his mind for her. He loves to make her nervous, especially because when he tries to flirt with her on sets, she just doesn't play along, you know. BUT, she thinks he's only messing with her. I also got this "vision" in mind of them talking at a party while she writes (because of course she kind of wants to be a movie director one day too). You can use it if you like😊 You can choose how it ends (hopefully a happy ending...? 😂)
✧.* summary — Your work has always been something that made you proud and happy and when you joined to serve the most famous band of the moment it was no different. The difference was the look he made you have over everything in just one rainy afternoon.
✧.* warnings — none.
✧.* word count — 3.3k
✧.* 🥁 — warren's masterlist
✧.* mandy's notes — I promised I'd come back and here I am, how are you? So, I know you suggested a party but I wanted to change the scene a bit, I hope you like it. Good reading 🫶🏾
The red lights adorned you along with the heat, you would hang the still-soaked revealed images on the strings while you thought about the next projects to come and how you would do them. The bedroom door opens catching your attention, you turn to see the figure of a brunette woman with her own series of images to reveal, you greet her with a smile and she takes a stand by your side.
Despite being an implicit rule in those environments where the art of photography should be admired, and that's what she did by looking at your photos hanging there.
“They are really beautiful.” You can hear the sincerity in her voice and it brings you comfort that pushes away your shyness.
“Thanks…” You release the last clip, and look at all the pictures with pride. “I'm more into filming but…for the first time with photos it wasn't bad, was it?”
“Not bad at all, they are amazing.” She points out. “You said you work with filming?” She asks the question expecting you to craft a conversation with her.
“Yeah, yes I've been working with filming for a while now. I started with some short films but now I'm making video clips. But I want something bigger, maybe to be a movie director someday.” You explain and she looks genuinely interested, you deduce this is a gift from her just from the minutes you spend together.
“Oh that sounds amazing.” She says now putting her pictures next to yours. “My husband is in a band, you know?”
“Really? Is it him in this picture?”
Camila nods, you tap your forehead turning to her.
“I'm sorry for being rude, my name is Y/N and yours?”
“I'm Camila.” She says, opening a majestic smile. “You should stop by the house sometime, I'd love to see your work. I'm sure my husband's band would love to have you record something for them.”
…
Warren was the last to sit down at the table, which automatically made him take everyone's subject in half. He bites the chicken wing while watching each of his friends trying to understand, effortlessly he lets himself be carried away in the observation.
“Cami, you can’t make compromises for us like that.” Billy says through a sigh, leaning his body back against the chair. “And it's even more complicated now that Daisy has to agree to everything before we do anything as a band.”
Camila tries not to show how the comment had upset her.
“Look, I know it can be tricky, but I understand that. Her work is really cool, it suits you. And who better to know that than me?” She jokes, eliciting a genuine smile from Eddie and Karen.
“I think it's worth a try” Karen says.
“It won't hurt anyone if we give it a chance." Eddie shrugs, with a smile. “And I trust your gut.”
“Sorry if I'm too high, but what the fuck are we talking about?” Warren interrupts, capturing everyone's attention.
Camila explains to him how he met you and her idea to make a music video for the band with her ideas and her direction, he instantly gets excited with the thought and volunteers to help Camila with whatever she needed and to help Billy convince Daisy too.
It wasn't difficult to get Jones to agree with the idea, the label also thought it was wonderful and soon the idea of the clip being released along with the tour dates was their great marketing strategy. The chosen song was 'Let Me Down Easy' by everyone's vote and the final touch was to look for you again to adjust the creative ideas and the budget of the project.
You knock three times on the door of Billy and Camila's house and wait for someone to answer you. The things in your bag were hanging while you felt the cool breeze against your body. The door is opened and your gaze lifts to see Rojas' curls and his eyes that smile at you, you straighten your body looking professional waiting for him to say something.
“You must be Y/N” His warm voice says, opening the door for you to enter. “Make yourself at home, if you want a beer or a cigarette we have everything outside.” He approaches you, as if to tell you a secret. “We don't keep any of that around Jules.”
You laugh at how excited he was, following him out of the house where everyone was gathered. Everyone's eyes on you make you a little uncomfortable but the drummer's hand on your shoulder brings you minimal comfort.
“The little star has arrived.” Warren makes sure to announce you, You frown at the nickname but smile small at the same time.
“It's so good to see you.” Camila comes to hug you tight. “Guys, this is Y/N… Y/N, This is Graham, Karen, Daisy, Billy and of course Warren that you met already. I'll let you guys talk about the clip and stay with Jules inside, if you need me just call.”
She approaches Billy and kisses him before walking through the doors of the house.
“So, do you have requirements for this project?” You say opening your notepad, ready to write whatever they were going to suggest.
They look at each other, you can see out of the corner of their eyes that they're waiting for someone to say something.
“Would you rather it be a clip of you performing with a story told through the music?” You drop another question, seeing that no one has said anything.
“Us playing is a pretty cool idea.” Billy seemed inclined to this suggestion but at the same time as his agreement was said Daisy's expression is one of denial.
“You know this is a song full of history, it would be perfect for us to show a story to our audience in it. After all, to see us playing they go to the show. We should do something new.”
“I kinda agree.” Eddie says, leaning his body back. “We can innovate with some storytelling.”
Billy frowned, you could see he didn't like to be crossed.
“Maybe we can mix the two ideas?” Graham suggests, you write it down.
“Don't worry Cariño, you'll get used to it eventually.”
You turn to him smiling a little embarrassed by the nickname, you close your notebook, leaning in to observe the band better.
“Well, I think we could mix the two ideas but... If my opinion as a professional is relevant, Daisy has a point.” You looked more at Warren while he spoke, for some reason he gave you confidence. “Nobody watches a clip with just the band playing, not the whole clip at least, you know?”
“So what do you suggest?” Billy says grumpy.
“I think we can use you as characters, telling the story of the song, so the audience gets to know the band members and focus on the lyrics through that story.”
“You're awesome.” Warren whispers in your ear, you open a small smile.
“You want us to act?” Graham asks.
“If it's not difficult for you, we can leave it enigmatic too. Obviously there will be no lines, what do you think of us doing a script?”
“Mi Alma, Maybe I'm being a little dumb but why script it if we don't have lines?” Warren asks.
“It would be a script for us to align what we are going to do, who will be the role, what story we will tell. This kind of thing.”
“Got It, keep going hermosa.”
“I like you!" Daisy utters, giving you a captivating smile. “I think we can start working on that, everyone agrees?”
Everyone agrees, even Billy, which is surprising.
“I can start working then, amazing, call me in two days.” You pack your things in your bag, looking at them one more time as a second check. “Any other requirements?”
Nobody answers you, so you take your work there for granted. Getting up to leave.
“Wait, I'll walk you to the door.” Warren is quick to follow you.
Upon entering the house again, her body warms up more because it is abandoned by the breeze outside, Camila, who was in the living room playing with Julia, is quick to get up with the toddler in her arms to say goodbye.
“How was it? Everything worked out?” She asks, Julia playing with her hair.
“Yeah, I'm full of ideas.” You answer excitedly, unconsciously sticking your purse to your body.
“She is a genius, Cami.” Warren says.
“You haven’t even seen my ideas yet.” You laugh, watching him with a smirk on your face.
“Tell me then.” You are taken aback by his answer, you didn't expect his interest to be so lasting. “I really want to know.”
You don't know how to respond, you look at Camila as a question, a request for help perhaps. She opens a smirk, you regret your choice instantly.
“There's a quiet beach nearby, I think you might like it.” Camila suggests, you arch your eyebrows. The corner of your eye going to Warren. “Maybe Warren is free to…”
“I am, I'm totally free.” He responds so fast that you can't help but laugh a little. “Are you up for it, tesoro?”
Camila nods, as if asking you to trust her.
“Okay, take me there.”
…
Warren's van stops a little away from the sand, on a cloudy day you knew the beach would be empty or at least with few people. You open the passenger seat window on the way in, aiming to feel the breeze on your face as a way to let go of the anxiety of the moment. Warren drove there, watching your movements in detail, just amazed by you.
The engine cuts off and then he turns to you, waiting for what you were going to do next. You after a while turn from the window to observe the curly haired man.
“So, tell me more about yourself, nena.” He says, you lean closer to him but not too much.
“Well, it's been a while since I moved here.I'm passionate about filming and directing, I've been producing my own thing but.” You give up talking, ashamed, few were the people who saw that potential in you.
“Really?” His eyes sparkle with excitement, you feel your heart race. “Damn it mami, is there anything you don’t do?”
“Lots of things actually Rojas, what's up with the nicknames, uh?” Your body leaning back against the bench was what he admired.
“They suit you.” He shrugs, adjusting his curls. “Now come on, let's go for a swim.”
He expected you to deny the suggestion, but you just open the van door and run across the sand. He flashes a gigantic smile and is quick to chase after you.
The closer you got to the sand, the more adrenaline was the essential boost to give you the courage to enter the icy waters. But that didn't seem to bother you at the time, you take your shirt off and leave it on the nearest rock before letting the water wet your skin.
“Come on, did you give up?” You yell at him, and he hurries to meet you there.
“Never, princesa.”
After a while in the water, you return to the sand, walking together to the most comfortable rocks to sit together. He helps you up, and you sit watching the clouds darken as the wind picks up, you hug your body trying to avoid the cold but the idea is without purpose and conclusion.
“That was so fun.” He says a little breathless.
“Yeah it was.” You agree, smiling at him. “But it's getting so cold…” Her voice came out shaky from the weather.
“Let's go to the van.” He helps you get up and guides you to the vehicle, and as the weather is waiting for you to leave, the rain starts to fall.
When you get into the van the adrenaline is still in you, Warren closes the windows so he can make the environment warmer for you, while the silence was comfort for both of you. He turns to you.
“I can drop you home now if you want.” he says, wishing your response was the opposite.
“I actually don't.” You say, taking your notebook off your bag. “I had so many ideas for your clip.”
“Meaning?” He asks, feeling happy to witness your explosion of creativity.
“Meaning I'll stay in your car until I finish my script.” You say poking the tip of his nose with the pencil. “I'm sorry… I don't want to take up your whole night.”
“Are you kidding me?” He speaks excitedly, turning completely towards you to see you better. “I'm so ready for this!”
“You want to participate?” Surprised, you question, unable to contain your smile.
“Of course I want, tell me, what do you need?” He says, ready to start the van engine.
“I mean, I could eat” You shrug, very happy to have more time with him.
“So that's it cariño, We're getting food and then spending the rest of the necessary time in this van working together!”
He drives for as long as he can on the road near the waterfront, a request from you, that you keep your creativity. The rain was still falling, making a steady pattern against the window, which strangely helped you to concentrate which he quickly notes, finding it adorable. After getting your food he brings you back to the same beach, you can't stop thinking about how much gas he was wasting, which made you laugh.
“You know, now I can say with absolute certainty that you are amazing.” Warren says after a long silence, the water droplets are now falling unevenly. You turn to him, closing the notebook.
“Again Rojas, you haven't seen anything yet.” You sigh, laying your head on his shoulder. “I don't know if I'm doing a good job anyway.”
“Can I see what you have ready?” He asks gently, reaching out to take his notebook.
Every second he read it was more torturous for you, so you focus on the water for a bit hoping his calmness will help your heart to do the same.
“This is amazing, really, you are a volcano of creativity.”
You chuckle, rolling your eyes. “No need to exaggerate, but that was the funniest compliment I've ever received.”
“I'm not exaggerating, I'm great with it. They will love it, trust me.” He strokes her hair, kissing the top of her head. “I've known them forever, and I know this is going to turn out spectacular.
“I don't know why I'm being insecure about this job…” You whisper, still lying on his shoulder.
“I don't want to screw this up or let Cami down
...”
You don't finish the sentence, you leave what you were thinking in the air
“Look mi cielo, the sun is rising... How about we walk along the shore together? While we think about the end of this script?”
You break into a huge smile “Did you by any chance come out of a romantic comedy?”
“That's where you go wrong, I'm a mix of all kinds of movies.” He takes turns when he notices that the rain was now just more water in the distant sea. He opens the door going to the beach again, you notice that this time he leaves his shoes in the van, his vest still wet was there too.
You shake your head at the person he is, how he made everything seem simple and light, you see him waiting for you on the sand and open the door without hesitation. Going towards him little by little, for Rojas it was like watching a work in motion, beauty and calm was what you meant to him every minute more together with you.
He brings his hands to your waist, and you automatically tuck yours around his neck, closely watching his every expression. He smiles, pulling you close in a hug, you feel welcomed like you haven't felt in a long time, he pulls away to guide you along the shore as promised.
“Hermosa…” He calls you, and you notice only now that you got so used to all the nicknames he gave you. “I would like to know more about that project of yours that you mentioned earlier.”
Your body freezes, you turn to him looking for any hint of irony or joke, there is none. He just smiled, happy and curious about everything that his person was involved in.
“I don't have a lot ready, but I wanted something more thought out before starting any recordings.” You talk by walking with your feet dragging instead of lifting them when you step. “But basically it's the story of an incomplete romance, which never worked out in the past, but due to a certain event they meet again. But there's a reason why this romance didn't work out, and I want to show that as my story goes on, making my audience figure it out at the climax and ultimately resolve the conflict. Of course it's not just about the romance, there are supporting characters and other characters I want to elaborate on, but this is what I have ready.”
“I would watch this for sure.” You knew that Golden retriever impersonation wasn't lying to you. “I would love to see everything you're doing, like, see the things you have ready and maybe inspire you to put a beautiful drummer character in it.”
“Do you want to be my muse Rojas?” You speak with a smirk on your face, he licks his lips and then smiles at you, the tension between you two growing.
“Maybe I want to cariño.” He whisper, getting closer to you, the light was still weak because the sun was rising slowly, your clothes were still relatively cold due to the adventure they had in diving the waters earlier, when his hands slowly go to your waist over the shorts you were wearing, your body shivers visibly.
Warren notices, and pulls away a little afraid he's crossed a line with you. You take his hands as he pulls away, placing them back on your waist. Slowly you lift your hands from his neck to the nape of his neck, stroking the wet curls tenderly.
“I want you to be, but not only that…” You say shyly, your gaze momentarily going to waves. “Whatever this is here, this connection, I want us to continue. Like, seeing each other even after the clip is done.”
“You can be sure this will happen.” He reassures you, kissing your forehead.
You pull back after the cuddle to look him in the eyes, and stare at the drummer's lips. You take a deep breath and pull him close to you, kissing his lips gently and slowly. Feeling the fireworks in his stomach explode with each touch, he pulls you closer to feel his body more, caressing your waist as he feels your fingers play with his locks. You've never had such an incredible work experience.
He wraps his arms around your waist tighter and lifts you up, you start laughing as you ask him over and over again what he was doing, he guides you once again to the waters where you watch together as the sun takes over the sun and gradually warms your skin, you play and have fun for a time that you don't see go by and you didn't want to.
“Won’t the others be worried about your disappearance?” You ask, hugging him like the waters hugged you. The crystal clear water showed you how beautiful your bodies were together.
“I don't care, I want to stay with you a little longer." He confesses, making you roll your eyes with a smile. He kisses you one more time, not caring about anything around her. “Don't worry about anything else, it's just me, you and the sea.”
...
Hi, I hope you enjoyed it... If you wanted to ask for something my requests are open, and if you want to ask and don't have any ideas check out my prompt list :) xoxo

I apologize if you answered stuff like this before, but do you have advice on how to build your confidence as an aspiring artist, especially with something like acting or filmmaking?
I know I'd love to be a director, but I'm quiet, shy, and not very assertive so I don't know how to convey to others what I'm looking for without feeling like I'll be silly, too harsh, or I just overall won't make sense to my team. That worries me a bit since I don't want to show weakness in the sense that I'll let them down if I don't seem to have all my eggs in the basket.
Acting wise, I feel like for me and how niche my field is, I might have to rely on myself at the end of the day to do certain bit roles and the topic has come up a bit with the small circle I work with since it's just a handful of us (like under six people doing everything) for now. They've been cool about it and understanding and mentioned I can have stand-in or non-speaking bits if it helps, but the anxiety is still there to some degree. I don't know how much of it is me just being awkward or I'm major insecure about being trans and having internal conflict with wanting to be stealth for safety reasons.
I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it. TL;DR: Do you have advice on how to navigate in the art world when you're trans and you don't have a ton of confidence? Thanks.
YMMV on this, but at drama school they told me this - ‘Confidence is bullshit used to sell self-help books. What you need is entitlement. Have you learned your lines? Have you done your character work? Have you warmed up? Then you are entitled to go out there and command that space on the stage - it’s yours. And if you haven’t, then you aren’t entitled yet and you know what you have to do in order to be ready. Are you professionally trained actors or aren’t you? You auditioned, you got through the gruelling vetting process, you got through the difficult training and the breakdowns and the hard graft and you’re still here. This is the Top Gun of acting courses in the world, so any little voice in your head that tells you you’re not ready is provably full of shit.’
Now, YMMV vary on that, because if you have like medical anxiety disorders, as some people on the course did, then yeah, I can appreciate that it’s hard to get there. And if you haven’t gone through that kind of training (which you don’t have to do, and not everybody can) then again, YMMV. But that idea of ‘not confidence but entitlement’ stuck with me and I still use it. It’s not about “not showing weakness” or being arrogant or anything - part of it is knowing and trusting other people to be ready too, so it’s not about dominating your fellow creatives. It’s just about knowing when you’re ready. I use it for trans stuff as well - I was nervous about transitioning, about asking for stuff and saying that I needed stuff, and then I was like, “No goddammit, I have done my research, I’ve done the soul-searching, I know my rights, I know what I want and I’m going to have it.”

Today I finished the first season of OB: The next chapter in Realm.fm, and I felt the need to express a bit of the tornado of ideas I've got myself trapped in. I'm no cultural journalist to go and try to make a heavily-well argumented-dense critic, but in my humble opinion as a consumer of the original series and an audiovisual professional, this is a shit-ton of work that pays off greatly.
My first and most relevant thought during the whole season was that these writers (beautiful people Malka Older, Madeline Ashby, Mishell Baker, Heli Kennedy, E.C. Myers and Lindsay Smit) were so loving and responsible about the truth of these characters that matching the care Maslany puts in everything she touches transported me in a heartbeat into a world I had been missing for a bit now. The humor was there, the wit and the danger, the political statments that soak and base every characters' decisions. They show such an smart sense of timing when introducing new characters as well as letting the old ones make their big entrances, and this keeps you there, wanting for more, being promised almost nothing because they didn't owe us shit, but still found a way to give us new nuances of personality among the clones, new ways of aproaching the same old problems and furthering the discussions that were left open in the TV show.
I am almost in love with the swift in protagonism and activation among the old characters. The fact that Cosima stands first in the first chapters and the detail and effort put in the portrait of her happiness with Delphine strikes me hard personally as I adored these characters and I'm profoundly grateful for the intention of justice that this steady life represents for a couple that was heavily beaten up during the show (not by the writers and directors but by the fictional forces). I love every entrance of every Clone Club sestra - eternally charismatic and multi-layered Allison, twisted and stubborn and wounded Rachel - but when I thought that Helena wouldn't be up for this adventure, her coming down of the truck in her wild hair and parka (and the boots that once belonged to Allison) made me shiver with a sort of simple, joyful happiness that I understand as a gift from the team of this podcast and I am grateful again.
There are several other ideas that I find just right, some new and some old ones that still amaze me: the growth and codependency of small Clone Club Charlotte and Kira, the concept of modern/choosen family, the resistance to structural violence of a minority based on a trust net and their natural skills, the redemption that this concept offers to heavily traumatised undercasted ones as Helena, Rachel, potentially Vivi, and how this interacts with the universal, odysseic concept of coming home; the smart use of Donnie, Art, Felix and Delphine as support as always, offering familiarity but also space for the developpment of those who carry on with the story this time (even though it unsettled me a bit the fact that Delphine didn't suspect a thing about anything when she was so close to the real deal, but that's me respecting and expecting too much about this character anyway) or the effort in documentation needed to talk this much about academic environment, big corporations, northern-american politics and inmigration policies that surely could be addressed more realisticly with even more time than 11 one hour and a half episodes, but still serves to infuse life to this ever-expanding world that could go on for ever. Well not for ever, but I'd like to think that.
Chez Cophine. We were in the right hands all the time, I knew it.
So, I've needed time to come around and sit to listen this properly, but now I think is one of the finest products I've consumed in some time. Only a new, natural step forward for a franchise that have always proved itself to be supported by senseful creators and technicians with a formidable work ethic, tremendous ambitions and love. Now I am equally terrified and excited to listen to Season 2 because I know that some of the old cast actors will voice their characters, but I am not ready for this to be finished. Still, here I go, expecting as much quality as these creators have proven themselves to be capable of providing.
Just one, I'm a few, no family too, who am I?

10 People You Want to Know Better
I have been tagged by the wonderful @birdmenmanga and I really like these questions so yeah.
---
Relationship status: Pretty darn single and kinda pathetic about it. Turns out college is the last place where you meet new people and that number drops dramatically after that fact. Now you have to actively try to socialize and that does not work with my lifestyle.
Favorite colors: I am very fond of purple. Like the pinkish, magenta shade and then the light lavender shades.
Favorite foods: My mom's cooking is wonderful. I love her enchiladas especially. I also love sushi.
Song stuck in my head: Instant Crush-- Shawn Hook cover it's probably one of IV[or]y Wall's main themes at this point.
Last thing you googled: egg freshness water test --I was cooking and I'm paranoid about them eggs. I always forget the rule of thumb with the water test.
Time: 9:47 PM
Dream trip: I'm not the biggest fan of traveling but I guess I really enjoyed NYC the past couple times I was there. Otherwise I like something more peaceful.
Last thing you read: I was browsing a couple Linked Universe fanfic, that stuff makes me feel like I'm in high school but it's like a nice, indulging feeling.
Last book you enjoyed reading: I just read Witch Hat Atelier and I think it's an actual masterpiece. We don't speak of the last book I've read, I don't do that much these days.
Favorite thing to cook/bake: My signature dish is something called Mayonaise Chicken. It's a parmesan cheese and mayo sauce baked on some chicken breast. It's very yummy. As for baking, I just started making apple pies and I find it really fun.
Favorite craft to do in your free time: I guess my digital art is very much my artistic hobby. But I'll also consider writing my 'free time craft'.
Most niche dislike: Ugh, it's not niche because it's an interpersonal quirk but one you only see in my music circles. I am not a fan of cross-section correction. I am a section leader for multiple choirs and I will fume a storm if someone dares correct my section or another section other than theirs. It has a lot to do with trusting the integrity of the professionals in the room. Stepping on those toes in a public setting is insulting and the benefit of assistance is overshadowed by the contempt it breeds. The section leader is in charge of an individual section's mistakes and successes and we run on a 'stay in your own lane' or at least be sneaky about it. A choir is only as strong as its section leaders and director and cross-section correction doesn't actually fix that and it just makes everyone hate your stuck up ass.
Opinion on circuses: Uhhh They cool. As long as we are talking the modern, spectacle showcases and not the oddity, animal abuse factories of the turn of the century. I'm a performer I like people who perform.
Do you have a sense of direction? kinda. I'll live but I will GPS everything if given the chance.
---
idk who to tag. ahhh please tag urself from me. I know it defeats the purpose but I've been a little absent here and some of the people I would tag I respect too much to ever bother them. haaaaa
#btw soh#Daisy by zedd has been on my birdmen playlist since 2016 so imagine my surprise to see it in ur reishi brainrot mind

DWD: Oh, I want it to go bad fair... despite Harry. Sorry, not sorry at all!
Harry has many other projects and career focuses; Harry will have other movies to come... new music to release, more Pleasing to wear and more fashion to show... He is a professional and has worked his a*s off for the last 12 years. If this project is not nicely or coherently put together and the major part of the viewers don't understand nor enjoy it... that's not on Harry. Plus, if on the other hand fair projects that haven't used a stunt as a serving plate are a success it would be a demonstration of what we appreciate, which is Art & wellbeing of those involved. TY
Look nonnie, I know we're all petty around here because of the god awful alliance called Holivia that was forged together with "Don't Worry Darling".
But nobody wants to see Harry actually fail.
I don't trust Olivia, that's true. As a woman, I feel betrayed by her self-proclaimed "modern Hollywood/feminist image" to then (disclaimer: the official narrative) throw it all under the bus the second she was single (or was she? What a mess. Poor Harry almost called a home wrecker.) to abuse her power to hook up with her assigned male lead employee, like every other male director (What happened to #metoo? #timesup?) had done just the other way around in the 50 years of Hollywood before. (Is this where women are headed now that we finally got our chance at power? We proceed with power abuse? But just vice versa?)
That they concluded this is a cool image to sell for either of them, goes beyond me. But, yes, that's a personal trigger for me. That's why I'm petty...
Coming back to your point, I agree. Harry has a huge portfolio of successes. Once "Don't Worry Darling" will hit the cinemas/streaming portals, Harry will have been recognized for his role in Dunkirk (my husband said to me once "Harry Styles? Isn't that the one from Dunkirk? He was good."), hyped for his post credit appearance in Eternals and praised for his sensitive display of emotions in My Policeman.
Should DWD bomb financially and/or critically, should Harry's acting be indeed underwhelming, it won't lower his chances in Hollywood at all. At least Harry can use some of the scenes to add to his showreel.

When They’re Out of The Limelight
Note: Hi everyone, I hope you guys are doing fine. I decided to delete the first version of this fanfic and write another one with a different ending, coz I received some feedbacks (not just from tumblr but also on twitter) saying that the ending was depressing and that I was too cruel to the characters (which was true, i admit that and i’m sorry. Lol.) I love my moots and I don’t want them to be sad. So here you go, this version contains two parts, hope you guys enjoy the story! - haienatrash
Part I - The After Party
June 5, 2020 - Baeksang Arts Awards 2020
"Everyone's looking for you." Someone with a sexy baritone voice said which made her twirl in surprise. It was Ju Ji Hoon. He was still in his simple yet gorgeous tuxedo with the brooch pin that she had chosen for him to use that night.
Hye Soo smirked at him, a bottle of beer on her left hand. It was that familiar tipsy grin that Geum Ja often use to Hee Jae when they would drink a bottle or more of Soju in Hyena. She sipped a beer before turning her back on him again.
Ji Hoon on the other hand, smiled while admiring her voluptuous figure from the back, taking note of the small details just like the back slit of the dress, how it exposed a little of her skin and the Bulgari Diamond Serpenti flawlessly resting on her back down to the middle of her spine. He was truly amazed at how the black Ralph Lauren dress fitted her body perfectly, flaunting those curves that she maintained through the years.
But his brows creased when he realized she wasn't wearing the white coat she had earlier. She must have left it on the venue downstairs, he unbuttoned his tuxedo jacket and pulled it off from his torso as he slowly walked towards Hye Soo, the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Upon reaching her, he carefully placed the tuxedo jacket on her shoulder to keep her warm before leaning on the railing that reaches up to their abdomen. His gesture made her look up at him, but he was ignoring her stare pretending to look at the 360-degree view of Seoul. They were on the rooftop of the hotel where the Baeksang Arts Award 2020 after party was held.
"Hoon-ssi it's fine, you don't---"
"You're wearing a dress." He cut her off "Exposing your shoulder and your back..." He paused staring back at her before he continued what he was saying "Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against you wearing that sexy dress, but I don't want you to get cold, alright Sunbaenim?" He rolled his eyes the way Hee Jae did, that made Hye Soo chuckle, amused by how Ji Hoon still has a bit of his character with him.
"Hee Jae is that you?" She asked him still giggling a bit "Sorry, but Geum Ja's not here tonight."
"Who says I want Geum Ja? I want Hye Soo." He said not looking away from her.
There was no response from her, now the only thing they could hear was the sound of the gusting wind. Their gazes were locked, she could feel the blood rushing to her face turning her cheeks into crimson red. He never fails to make her feel this way as if it was the first time that someone said those words to her.
"But you can't." She said bitterly, looking away from him, setting the bottle of beer on the railing cap.
Ji Hoon looked down, "You don't trust me, do you?"
"Trust isn't the issue in here. It's the age, the opinion of everyone around us and the career... Your career."
"I'm willing to give it all up---"
"Well I don't, I wouldn't let you give up everything you worked for just to be with me." She cut him off staring back at him. "You're young, you're smart and you're talented, there's so much ahead of you. Don't waste it with someone like me and I am sure you'll find someone much better, someone who can give you a family, a son, or maybe a daughter." She explained but it seems like he wasn't listening to any of it.
"Then I'll take whatever you can give. I love you, and I know you feel the same... Please?" He grabbed both her hands and kissed her knuckles. His eyes started getting wet.
"Ji Hoon, stop." She said pulling her hands away from him.
"This is so unfair. I just wanted to be with you." She saw how tears pooled down his cheeks as he said those words. She felt her heart broke into million pieces, watching him weep because of her.
She couldn't help herself, but extend her hand to his face, cupping his cheek wiping his tears using her thumb. Then she pulled him closer for the last time and caught his lips with hers, kissing him slowly and softly making it linger, trying to ease his pain.
Hye Soo pulled out of the kiss before saying "Let's not see each other again."
Hye Soo walked away from Ji Hoon and did not dare to look back anymore, because she would just do the foolish thing and gave into her emotion again. It's better to end it right now than to fuck everything up later on.
Part II - The Resolve
June 24, 2020 - Hyena BD Commentary Filming Day
Ji Hoon tapped the shoulder of his driver reminding him to take the day off and park the car on the fifth level before he came out of the black Mercedes Benz. He was wearing a plain navy-blue colored t-shirt with a large print on the back and a pair of jeans his hair was neatly brushed up the way Hee Jae would like it, with a black face mask and sunglasses on, which helped him disguise himself and not be noticed by the public. He entered the building and walked straight to the elevator, he pressed the thirteenth button and quietly stood there waiting as it lifted him to his floor.
He still felt a bit dizzy and nauseous because of his hangover from last night, he had been like this for a couple of weeks now and it was still because of what happened at the hotel rooftop last June fifth. That was the last time he saw her, and it didn't go well. His heart ached as he recalled how she walked away from him saying that they shouldn't see each other anymore.
He tried reaching out to her since that night, calling her everyday or whenever he was drunk trying to fix everything between them, but she would just shrug him off and ignore his phone calls. He even drove to her house a week ago only to be dragged out by her security. Ji Hoon clutched tightly on his phone, suppressing the tears which was trying to pool out of his eyes, he shouldn’t be like this.
Be professional Ji Hoon. Be professional.
Ji Hoon knew what he did over the past few weeks was pathetic. But he couldn't just let her go, she meant the world to him and he was looking forward to spending the rest of his life with her. He wouldn't get tired of fighting for her. That was his main reason why he wanted to attend the commentary.
Hye Soo Sunbae would be there. He thought.
Ji Hoon kept on saying that to himself, that was the only motivation he had for almost three weeks, that the commentary would be a good chance to speak with her.
The elevator opened, he looked at the indicator saying they were already on the thirteenth floor, he walked towards Studio five and gently pushed the glass door of the studio; he was welcomed by some of the staffs and crews that he had worked with during the filming of Hyena. He bowed to them as a sign of respect mostly to those who he knew was older than him, then he saw Jang Tae Yoo the director of Hyena, standing next to a tall woman with short hair who's back was facing him.
Obviously, it was her. His sunbae. Kim Hye Soo. The director looked at his direction with a smile on his face. Ji Hoon could read his mouth saying, "Ju Ji Hoon is here." to her. She turned to him, she was wearing a simple white blouse paired with a tattered pair of jeans and a white coat draping over her shoulder, it was simple yet stunning. Well, Hye Soo has always been stunning even in those simple clothes, the corner of her lips curved into a little smile as if nothing happened between them.
Damn, she really is a good actress... He said at the back of his mind. Ji Hoon waved his hand to them, he walked towards them bowing to his leading lady and the director. He felt awkward, not knowing how he should act around her.
"We're glad that you're here already. Maybe we could start in an hour?" Asked Jang Tae Yoo looking up to Ji Hoon. Both leads nodded to him. "Good, we'll go get the lights fixed. Have some snacks first." He said patting Ji Hoon's arm before he left them alone.
Silence surrounded them. He sighed before removing his mask, folding it and sliding it into the back-pocket of his jeans.
I miss you.
I need you.
I love you.
There was a lot of thing that he wanted to ask, and he wanted to say to her but "Hey..." Was all that came out of his mouth.
"Hi." She responded, still with that minimal smile on her lips. She handed him a cookie in pink packaging, which he took instantly like a kid who was given a candy.
She stared at him intently, examining his face. His lips were pale and dry. "Take your sunglasses off, it's a bit disrespectful to greet the director with those on." She said using the director as an excuse to see his face better.
Ji Hoon, without any second thought, took off his sunglasses revealing the dark circles under his unique mismatched eyes, he looked exhausted as if he hadn't slept for weeks. Hye Soo sighed rolling her eyes, she knew it.
"Meet me in the restroom at the end of the hallway going to Studio six and don't forget to put back those sunglasses on." She said before making her way out of Studio five.
• • •
He opened the door of the all-gender restroom then he saw her leaning with her hips on the tiled sink waiting for him. He locked the door before walking towards her, he wasn't sure what she wanted from him but here he was, obviously he couldn't resist her. She stood up properly when she saw him walking towards her, motioning him to switch places with her. Now he was the one who’s leaning on the sink.
"What do you want?" he asked as serious as he could.
"Close your eyes." She stated, ignoring his question. Hye Soo thought he wouldn't do as she said but he did, but as the usual he couldn't keep his mouth shut. He kept on blabbering about how she said the other week that they shouldn't see each other anymore but here they were, in the public restroom, alone. That he called her every day, but she didn't answer any of them and how her security dragged him out of her village. He did all that as she got the wet wipes from her bag, she leaned closer to him and gently cleaned his face, removing the unwanted dirt from his flawless face.
She could spend her whole day just staring at him, memorizing every inch of his face taking note of the small details like the mole on his left cheek that you could barely see if you aren't this close to him and the pointed nose that she compared with the Himalayas, which he found funny.
Hye Soo pulled the primer and the concealer from her make-up pouch. Lucky enough, she still has the concealer that he left on her bathroom the last time he spent the night there which matched his skin tone. She applied a bit primer on his skin and some concealer underneath his eyes. She took her time as she did his make-up, they still have an hour and she wanted this to last, she wouldn't tell anyone, but she missed this dork, she missed him.
"Will you please shut your mouth for a moment Hoon-ssi?" She asked, applying a thin layer of powder on his skin.
"My eyes are closed already, and now you also want me to close my mouth. I don't even understand why you're doing this. You aren't even answering any of my question?!"
"Keep your tone down, will you?" She asked before putting the final touch, a lipstick. From his cheek, her eyes travelled down to his thin lips, it was dry, but she still found them kissable. She gulped.
Don't do it. Don't. Her conscience kept on telling her, but she did it anyway, she kissed him. What she did left him silent, her lips moving against his. It took him a minute or two before he returned her kisses. His hand on her hips pulling her closer to him. The kiss was soft and slow.
“Does that answer all your questions?” She whispered against his mouth before pulling away to catch a breath. "I did that to push you away. Because I wanted to protect you." She placed a hand on his chest. "Let's talk about this later, okay? For now, let's get you ready for the commentary."
He only nodded letting her finish his make-up. After him she fixed herself next, wiping down the smudged lipstick on the corner of her mouth before putting another layer of the same lipstick she used for Ji Hoon's lips.
• • •
After the commentary they drove straight to the Director's house to celebrate the success of Hyena. The whole Team H was there, together with the supporting characters of Hyena, Gyeong Hwa even prepared a cake with the candles saying 'Hyena'. It was fun to be with them again and have a nice dinner while catching up. The celebration ended around ten in the evening, and everyone had gone on their separate ways, but it was different for Ji Hoon and Hye Soo, they still needed to talk.
Ji Hoon parked his car a few blocks away from her house the way he did before. She looked at him and she knew he felt anxious about how their conversation would end up, she could see it on his movements that's why she held his right hand and intertwined it with hers.
"Hey, we'll see each other again, okay?"
"Are you sure---"
"I'm not." She looked straight into his eyes "I'm not sure about what I'm doing and what will be the consequences, but there's one thing that I'm sure of..." She paused, gripping on his hand tighter before saying "And that’s you. I'm sure about you, I'm sure that I want to be with you." She smiled reassuring him that she wouldn't let him go, not anymore.

Bonus Content!!
On December twenty-fifth Kim Hye Soo posted photo on Instagram with a silhouette of a man, with a very intriguing caption. Some fans guessed it was Ju Ji Hoon. Then the next day both their agencies confirmed that they were dating.
Note: This photo collage is edited, and none of these are true. Thank you for reading!!

WIP Wednesday 09.02.2020
Look at me late again! 😅 I still had a few unanswered requests for the AU prompts let's pretend I haven't finished most of them and I decided to finally work on the two of Professional Rivals AUs fics today.
Annabelle Parsons x F!OC - Professional Rivals AU
"As you all know, every year, performing arts students of London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts present a play for the nobility of our country. But this year, we have special guests." Professor Daly continued.
"Oh my stars! I knew it! I saw mum speaking in hushed tones with the Dean Foredale!" Briar enthused.
"I wonder who's joining us this year," Daphne commented.
"The chosen play is The Age of Innocence, which is going to be directed by Dean Dominique Foredale."
Whispers and gasps spread in the air. "Did you know that?" Annabelle turned to Daphne.
"I did not!" Daphne replied. "I thought one of the grad students would. I saw her talking to Bartie and I swore she wanted him as director."
"Pah! Everybody knows the only grad student capable of directing a play in this school is Ernest Sinclaire," Felicity huffed.
"I'm sorry, what made you think we were talking to you?" Daphne spat.
"Be thankful I was educating you, you peasant."
"Oh, I'll show you who's a peasant, you--"
"Will you ladies settle down or should we take your heated argument outside before you get to fill your applications to the play?" Mrs. Daly glared at the two young women, who simply shook their heads. "I thought so."
Thomas Mendez x MC - Professional Rivals AU
As Ayla and her client walked out of the room and stepped into the hallway, they glared at the two men coming from the room across them. While the former partners promptly ignored each other, the lawyers approached, seizing one another.
"Hello, Mr Mendez." Ayla extended her hand for a handshake.
"Ms. Day," Thomas replied the handshake. "I hope you're both ready for a settlement."
"A settlement?" Ayla scoffed and leaned to whisper. "Chickening out already, Thomas?"
A corner of his mouth quirked up and he leaned in to whisper. "You know you're only making this harder because you want to, Ayla. Let's not put the poor dog through this suffering."
"I think your client should've thought of that when he asked for full custody of the dog." Ayla gave him a knowing look.
His jaw clenched. Though Thomas had a good poker face, Ayla was one of the few attorneys in Goldcliffe who could easily get under his skin. "May the best party win."
"Trust me. My client definitely will."

so I'm listening to a podcast talking about character agency and it's helping me realize what made vld steadily lose engagement after season 2, was the characters steadily lost their agency until they did nothing to affect the direction of the plot. The characters stopped informing the plot, and the plot started informing the characters.
Absolutely. Great observation!
But you’re doing something all professionals do - further their learning.
The EPs - and even DreamWorks - acted unprofessionally when creating/executing the plot of VLD. The EPs are amazing artists. There is no doubt that Voltron wasn’t visually compelling.
But there is also no indiction that either EP ever cracked open a book on plot, and even though I know someone did - a writer doesn’t switch character arc endings by accident— a simple reading of the first three “books” of The Screenwriter’s Bible would have helped the EPs avoid many of their plotting mistakes. (Honestly? It’s like they read the book and decided to do the exact opposite.)
But a lack of plotting expertise and knowledge in and of itself is not an issue - as long as the EPs rely heavily upon a competent head of story, which they didn’t.
Most writing books will tell you - storytelling is instinctive. Structure in the usual format - intro, rising action, climax, falling action, conclusion - one can do just by watching/reading, but actual plot takes experience and continued learning (where you learn nuances, like plot twists, the art of dialogue, and character agency). That really separates the true storytellers from the amateurs. (Again, kudos to you for studying your craft!)
Voltron’s story was an absolute mess after Season 2 in every sense of the word, and it was clear how inexperienced the writers were. Whether the loss of May Chan was that great, Tim Hedrick wasn’t as skilled as he appeared or he got tired of fighting the EPs - leading to his ultimate departure from the series, along with some directors - or the EPs were really that incompetent - or maybe it was just the Perfect Storm - DreamWorks needed to act to save the story and their one-time good name.
LOUD SIGH. I mean, let’s go back to a basic principle in writing plot - the narrative question.
According to Jane K. Cleland in Mastering Plot Twists, “Much as a company’s brand represents a promise to a consumer, so too does a narrative question represent a promise to your readers. It sets out the primary conflict that supplies impetus for readers to read on. It provides enough information so that readers can make educated decisions about your story is to their their taste. If your readers interest is not captured, so be it. If it is, they’re likely to finish the story because they want to learn the answers implicit to the narrative question.”
At the beginning, Voltron raises the query, “They brought another one.”
That’s actually the series’ question, the one we wait to be answered. Shiro is the “other one.” So who is the first? You can make the assumption that there was someone else in the prison - whom we never meet but who was inferred in Season 5, Episode 1 when Matt was late to the shuttle after searching for his dad.
Ready for the mind-blowing part? The narrative answer to “They brought another one ” is actually Zarkon. He was the first Black Paladin. Shiro is “another one,” the new Black Paladin. But then the narrative breaks apart when Keith becomes a third - and isn’t a Black Paladin. The narrative makes that clear over and over again - going insofar as forming the Blazing Sword with Shiro or Zarkon only.
And if Shiro is actually “the other one,” then we needed see to be that as the narrative promised - wielding the Black Bayard and embracing his role fully as the Black Paladin - which is not what happened. It is what would have happened if the narrative question had been answered. Instead it was abandoned and forgotten by the EPs. And that’s one of the many reasons the lion swap didn’t work - cuz it isn’t true to the narrative question - and that’s also why so many disheartened fans watched to the end. They waited to see Shiro - who was established as the new Black Paladin in the very first sequence of the series - once more fly Black.
(It also would have fulfilled the narrative promise - that Shiro was the other one and no one else in the story.)
Instead, Shiro is killed and returns but not included in plot other than window dressing. In fact, Voltron itself doesn’t do better than the first Paladins - that “dark history.” The original Paladins lost their leader, Zarkon. And the new Paladins? Though Allura didn’t end the story as the “leader,” she was head of the coalition at one point. So the new Paladins didn’t save their leader, either. (Or Shiro, really. Or Kuron.)
So...why did we watch Voltron Legendary Defender - to see history repeat itself? We’re all doomed to fail...? Is that the answer to the narrative question? “There is another one - maybe - but he, too, will die, and so will his commander. And they won’t be able to save each other, either.”
Thus, ultimately, I feel Voltron was not so much a disaster in plotting, though it was. I feel it‘s true failure was in its humanity - or lack thereof. In a story that was to show and celebrate all races, genders, sexualities, and people with disabilities coming together to create the greatest weapon against evil - our trust and love in each other - Voltron Legendary Defender showed evil triumphing over good.
...and I’m running out of ways to express this point or my level of disgust. But I will say this - that ending was an epic reversal. Terrible messaging, terrible delivery and terrible implications - but you don’t get a more epic reversal than the most powerful weapon in the universe on the supposed side of good, being defeated by the forces of evil.
Of course, in a kids’ show where viewers expect the heroes to win - no level of reversal is going to satisfy viewers as they watch the strong-willed heroine walk off to her death, especially the WOC heroine.

📷 JAN 13, 2021 BY JESSICA MCKINNEY Image via YouTube/pgLang 📷📷 Kendrick Lamar is working on a mysterious new project. In March 2020, he tweeted a graphic logo and the word “pgLang,” with no explanation. Then he followed that up with a short teaser, along with a link to a professional website. Minutes later, rising artist Baby Keem and former Top Dawg Entertainment president Dave Free followed suit, sharing similar images and links. That’s how most of us were introduced to the new company pgLang. The company is still in its infancy, but it has already managed to collaborate with Hollywood stars and major fashion brands. pgLang, which is being described as “an at service company” for artists and creators, is getting a lot of buzz, but we still don’t know much about it. After a little digging, though, we were able to get a better grasp at what the company has done so far and what we should expect in the future. Everything you need to know about pgLang so far is below. What is pgLang? Video via YouTube 📷 Founded by Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free, pgLang is a service company for creators. “PgLang is multi-lingual,” the company’s mission statement reads. “Our community speaks music, film, television, art, books, and podcasts – because sometimes we have to use different languages to get the point of our stories across. Stories that speak to many nations, many races, and many ages.” The statement says the company is focused on using the experiences of its many collaborators “to build stories that are equally accessible and engaging, then fitting them within the best media.” In a statement shared on launch day, pgLang clarified that it is not a record label, movie studio, or publishing house. The statement went on to say, “Lamar and Free’s new purpose at pgLang embodies something deeply personal to them. pgLang is at service to creators and projects that selflessly speak with, and for, the shared experiences that connect us all.” Dave Free added, “In this overstimulated time, we are focused on cultivating raw expression from grassroots partnerships.” On launch day, Kendrick Lamar’s only words about the project were the following: “Selfless. Reset.” Why is it launching now? Video via YouTube 📷 While they’ve been cryptic about most things, pgLang has provided an explanation about why it launched in 2020. “This is happening now because the media landscape is rapidly changing, empowering audiences with choices like never before,” their online statement reads. “Only a few contemporary creators have figured out how to speak the evolving language of this generation without fading into the white noise or pre-assigned market share. pgLang is designed to be artist-friendly above all else and embrace both quality and unconventional concepts. This ethos will be applied to an array of creators who will join pgLang, including authors, film and television directors, fine artists, producers, musicians, and blah, blah, blah… you have all heard this shit before.” Has pgLang released anything yet? Video via YouTube 📷 Yes. There are two videos available on pgLang’s website right now. The first visual, titled “Welcome to pgLang,” includes appearances from Baby Keem, Jorja Smith, Yara Shahidi, and Kendrick Lamar. The video begins with Baby Keem looking up at the sun while sitting in a grassy area. Yara Shahidi appears, and the two engage in a conversation about gazing at the sun for too long. Later, Kendrick Lamar and Jorja Smith make cameos. The second video, “Propaganda,” stars Baby Keem and includes short clips from 2019 concerts. In addition to the visuals that are on the company website, pgLang has also shared more visual content on its Instagram page. The most recent visual, posted on January 13, appears to be in collaboration with Calvin Klein. The promotional video depicts model Mecca Allah walking up a spiral staircase. Their Instagram page suggests there will be seven videos in total, featuring Mecca Allah, Baby Keem, Travis Bennett, Ryan Destiny, Keith Powers, Amber Wagner, Brent Faiyaz, Exavier, and more. They will begin rolling
out on Jan. 14, 2021. The company has also released merch, but it was sold out shortly after being posted. There are still some pgLang hoodies available for purchase on eBay, but it is expected that more pieces will be sold online at a later date. They have also released music from Baby Keem (more on that below). Who has been involved so far? Baby Keem. Image via YouTube/PgLang 📷 As mentioned in its mission statement, pgLang is an “artist-friendly” company that embraces “both quality and unconventional concepts.” The company welcomes collaborations with artists and creators from many different backgrounds, including musicians, producers, television and film directors, fine artists, and more. So far, PgLang’s content has included well-known artists and actresses like Kendrick Lamar, Baby Keem, Jorja Smith, and actress Yara Shahidi. There are a lot of creators who have earned credits behind the scenes for production and creative direction as well. Florence Welch, the lead vocalist of indie band Florence + the Machine, Kamasi Washington, and Dave Free, all have writing credits on the first two visual releases. What is Baby Keem’s role? Video via YouTube 📷 Baby Keem isn’t credited as a co-founder of pgLang, but he has been a face of the brand. Keem has starred in all of the visuals for the company so far, and he’s the first solo artist who has shared his own music through the company. Both of his 2020 singles “hooligan” and “sons & critics freestyle” were released under pgLang in September 2020. He has also spoken about his involvement with the company and his relationships with Dave Free and Kendrick (who is rumored to be his cousin). In June 2020, he told Crack Magazine that Kendrick and Free were helping a lot with his creative vision. “[They are helping with] everything. Me as a whole, Baby the artist, Hykeem Carter. Everything, every aspect,” he said. “They’re my guys, that’s my team. That’s my life.”In pgLang’s launch day statement, Keem also said, “Astronaut ideas. That is what I call the shit that I know I want but that stand alone. You know? Like, not everything has to ‘make sense’ to me in a rational way. This is how my mind stays fresh, by letting myself have my astronaut ideas and developing them even though it might confuse anyone else.” What have its founders said about pgLang so far? Image via YouTube/pgLang 📷 Kendrick Lamar has remained rather quiet about his involvement in pgLang, although he has shared a lot of the content on his personal social media accounts. In an interview between Kendrick and Baby Keem for i-D, though, the two spoke briefly about the company and their visions. K. Dot mentioned the need to be able to “share and experience the same language or teach another language” when collaborating with others. Then he asked Keem about his thoughts on what pgLang represents. “I’ve seen pgLang before it was even an idea that came to fruition. It’s sticking to and believing in something, even when you don’t know how it will be created, and it starts out as just a small idea,” Keem responded. “I believed in it, and I stuck to it and now everything is paying off. So I’ve seen it from when there was no idea, to now. So to me, pgLang represents loyalty and trust.” Did anyone see this coming? Image via Getty/Ollie Millington/Redferns 📷 Many fans were surprised by the announcement of pgLang in March 2020, but there may have been clues that suggested Dave Free and Kendrick were up to something. In an interview with VIBE in 2018, Dave Free revealed that he was planning to get “heavy into the film game.” “I'm trying to get heavier into it. Kendrick’s trying to get heavier into it. A lot of the guys want to get more into the content creation game,” he said. “To us, it's about replicating the success but also stretching our hands into as many fields as humanly possible. So all those big investors and all those big guys that wanna be with a winning team, come talk to TDE ‘cause we’re looking into a bunch of different fields. There's no label on what we can do now. Top literally just left my house and
we were talking about everything else that we have to do.” In 2016, Top Dawg Entertainment also announced its intention to get into film, calling on producers and directors to join their team. Although Free parted ways with TDE in 2019, his previous comments suggest he had an interest in tackling another big project that touches many mediums.

2. COVID&Cigarettes International Project
To sum up, my state doing this project in one picture:
It was the busiest and the biggest project that I've done during my internship. To celebrate Aurora Theatre’s ten-year anniversary, we produced our first virtual and global production, COVID & Cigarettes. It is a collection of stories of different people experiencing the various facets of COVID19.
I got the amazing opportunity to be very much involved in this project, but it also backfired me for not being able to say "No" when I already have a lot on my plate.
So, I got to direct two plays, C&C Music Factory and Josan Hong Kong. I was in charge of the video production, so I video edited the trailer of C&C, and 4 plays, including two of mine.
I also dealt with content creating, which meant I created posts for social media, design and create the entire programme booklet, posters and thumbnail for each play. On top of that, I agreed to write emails to the people involved in the project and ask for their documents such as their bio and pictures, so that I can promote them and put them in the programme booklet. Bear in mind, all of this happened in the course of a month and a half.
I learnt a lot from this experience and it definitely helps me develop a lot as a person, and as a director. In this journal entry, I'll be mainly focusing on talking about my experience in directing because that's the field that I want to delve into in the future.
I have directed before during high school, but I have never directed professionally, especially on Zoom! However, I might consider this a blessing in disguise because I was able to work with actors from Los Angeles to Switzerland. Of course, there would be time-zone differences, but our motivation to rehearse during the precedent times was very much strong.
When problems arise in the rehearsal space, it took me a while, but I learn how to speak up for myself and resolve the situation quickly because the limited time that we were given cannot be wasted in having misunderstandings. I was able to have a structural rehearsal procedure where I observe their run through first and then break down each scene of how it should be.
Sometimes, I'm not sure whether I was directing them well, but my actors give me the assurance that I'm on the right track. The trust that they give me made me realise how I need to trust my gut more have confidence in myself, which is really not easy. It made me understand the harmonious energy is needed in the space and how the director needs to enforce that in the rehearsal space.
I like how COVID&Cigarettes was able to build a theatre community from across worlds and we have the desire to keep the art alive during the pandemic. It made me feel a strong assurance between one and another of how we are remaining resilient.
We were able to even get our project promoted on Broadway World, a well-known site in the theatre industry. Honestly, I felt proud of being involved in this project because I was able to reflect on myself a lot in terms of how to deal with things practically and the joy of directing. :)

Hm... I'm enthralled now. How did you come to do voice acting? Was it a sort of, spur of the moment? Or was it more so like a passion you wanted to pursue after highschool/college? I've also begun to wonder. What do you specifically do to change the timbre of your voice? I assume its different for every voice actor out there and, given your experience, you've most likely developed a method no? Lastly, how do you land jobs? Do you need a specific talent or is it more so fitting the voice color?
January 2007
I discover that voice acting is a thing. My time spent on Neopets noticeably dwindles for the moment.
(Also none of these are specific moments that I think made or broke my career, I am just offering all relevant moments in time)
Feb/Mar 2007
A man by the name of Deven “Mac” notices my frequent postings on Newgrounds - my fervent spamming, more like - and informs me about Voice Acting Club. Kira Buckland, 10 years younger, is finishing up school soon and has begun plans for moving out of Alaska to pursue life in Cali
March 2007 - 2008
Amateur Voice Acting AHOY! I audition for a shitload of projects, mostly fandubs. Mostly Newgrounds. my voice is terrible but my enthusiasm and energy is unyielding. Mac helps me with basic tenets of voiceover techniques and I also exhibit some pretty shitty behaviors (delaying submitting lines for weeks because I’m nervous about ‘doing them wrong’).
September 2008
I get accepted into Western Michigan on a scholarship. I decide to major in Film/Video/Media studies because it’s 'the most similar to what I want to do’ (Voiceover) and decide to put more personal interests in as minors (Journalism, Japanese, Psychology).
The actual curriculum itself did jack shit for my career but it’s what I did during my time there that matters more.
2008-2012
Four years of college. I make friends within my interest groups but nearly all of my time is spent either in class or in my dorm room on my PC. OMGPOP is king of my time until Maplestory releases the Evan class.
More importantly, it was also the formative years of my freelance career.
I sign up for Voice123 membership. It goes horribly. Low ratings nearly all the time. I take on an audiobook job and deliver over-estimate by 7 goddamn months. Client is PISSED.A site called VoiceBunny also crops up; more suited for quick one-off jobs that don’t need 'the perfect voice’, just a suitable one. Extremely reliant on being at your computer at a moment’s notice.
I have no social life.
This meshes well.
Within college, I am constantly involved in things related to acting/voiceover.
- On-campus Sexual Health Peer Education group (skits and lectures) all 4 years of attendance. This also gave me opportunities to record voiceover for segments needing 'voice of god’- local radioplay group All Ears Theater (2 productions every 2-3 months, included a formal audition process and live performances in front of audiences for later broadcast via radio/web)- Audio Production class (as part of my Major) quick-learns me basic editing techniques, directly translates to my ability to do quickfire editing and turnaround now as a freelancer.- Continuing to do auditions for stuff for Voice Acting club. This is probably the most similar to many ‘Tumblr phase’ performers on here.Over time, constant exposure + guidance from peers/my mentor helps me to hone my skills. I still tend to 'loud-act’ things, IE using an unnecessarily loud/forceful voice for simple business narration, but I’m beginning to understand the intricacies of different styles (Commercial vs. Promo vs. character, etc)
January 2009
During winter break, on a ski trip with family, I learn about Anime Expo’s AX Idol competition. I tell my dad the one thing I want for my birthday present is funding to help go to this convention and compete. He obliges.
Summer 2009
I go to Anime Expo and compete in AX Idol for voiceover.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUQpkyfVYog
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-PwvyeM1jw
Things go well.
Fall 2009 - sometime 2011
Things DO NOT GO WELL. My victory at AX causes me to feel like I know what I am doing, leads to an almost 2 year stint of godawful delivery choices as I 'phone in’ performances like they’re just going to be good on foundation. My mentor is frustrated with me and at least one peer of mine actively thinks I don’t deserve the kinds of opportunities I’ve had over how hard he himself has worked.
2012
I graduate from college, determine that the only way I’m going to make progress is by forcing myself into the community where the industry exists. If I’m going to get workshops and studio auditions and actual non-online work, I need to be where the work is.
Summer 2012, 2 months after graduation
I move from Michigan to California
I have enough savings to cover about a year of rent if everything goes horribly horribly wrong (including losing every single freelance client I’d slowly built relationships with during college), but it’s obvious I need to find work to continue to stay out here.
I take a Graveyard shift job at Stanley security. It sucks my fucking soul out.
Meanwhile by day, I am still doing my freelance thing. I let BangZoom know I am now local. I work with my mentor on piecing together a demo both from good bits I’d done before and fresh content written for the demo, something I can show off to clients that is good enough to be worth listening to but that I can admit “I am new to the area and aiming to get my foot in the door for more professional work so that I can update my portfolio accordingly”
2012-2014
The Workshop Grind
Workshops with BangZoom, with Crispin Freeman, with VoiceTrax West, etc.
Through character archetype classes, I begin to understand where my inherent strengths lie (I already had an idea from my freelance side, but now I was able to confirm those strengths by having actual professionals go “You made great choices”)
BangZoom, meanwhile, SLOWLY works me up the chain of trust. I get called in for unpaid walla sessions just to see if I can meet appointments on time and follow directions.
Then unnamed 1-time characters in a crowd.
Then unnamed characters you can hear.
Then a recurring unnamed character.
Then at some point I get audition sides for something called Sword Art Online, for Kirito and Diabel. I initially only plan on auditioning for Kirito (dem Protagonist dweams) but have a last-minute Skype Workshop with Crispin about my auditions and get feedback from him.
He recommends I still try out for Diabel because it plays into my strengths and “why the hell not?”
I do.
2013-2014
Pretty much my ONLY studio work is coming from BangZoom, and it’s not frequent. I quit my job at Stanley only because I had some extra savings now and wanted to force myself to 'git gud’ instead of letting a safety net of money keep me from pursuing more.
But slowly, SLOWLY, through BangZoom auditions and the occasional booking, web strings begin to attach.
Out of personal interest, I do a brief stint as a QA tester for NIS America. This also happens around the time BangZoom is casting for DanganRonpa and Fairy Fencer F. My employment didn’t affect my audition chances, but it did solidify NISA’s knowledge of me as a voiceover artist.
I do some work for Ys: Memories of Celceta for a company called XSEED. Nothing comes of it until almost 3 years later, when a new localization lead named Brittany recalls my performance from Ys and says “I think he could be a really good fit for this dude named Rean Schwarzer”.
I land work on Killer Instinct through BangZoom. The director of that LOVES my performance, proceeds to slowly bring me back now and again for recurring roles on stuff like Gundam IBO and other projects.
Back to XSEED.I land my lead role in Trails of Cold Steel. Recording is at PCB Productions, who now knows I exist.
Everyone has a good time, I send my samples/demos to PCB (now updated further), they begin sending me THEIR audition sides as well.
At one point, a director for PCB I know well is collaborating with a studio called Cup of Tea on Akiba’s Beat. Kira has been working with Cup of Tea for YEARS but I had never had an opportunity to get in touch with them before now.
Director puts me in touch with Cup of Tea, who now knows I exist. Session goes decently, I tell them I am very interested in pursuing future work/auditions and would like to share my demos with them. They accept. For sake of time I will leave that thread where it is because I imagine you can understand what the underlying theme is.
Just a sporadic but progressive timeline of preparedness + Opportunity allowing me to expand my options.
Back to Workshop Side:
I continue actively pursuing workshops for other companies, especially VoiceTrax west. I sign up for “meet the pros” evenigns where I have a chance to perform + get feedback.
The workshop actively disclaimers that there is no expectation of getting work + it is intended to be a learning experience, but I go in with the mindset of “I’m going to leave them WANTING to work with me”.
With a much more thorough understanding of my strengths by now, I tend to do a formula of picking 1-2 characters I know I can do well, and one that is within my range but is relatively challenging. Worst case scenario I still leave a good impression, best case I completely surprise myself (and the host) and leave a lasting one.
This works out well. Said method greatly interests a representative from Mattel and one from Disney Parks (not the animation side, just the theme park side). I thank them for their time, ask if I can share demos with them/get their contact email, contact them and express interest in receiving audition opportunities.
Through one of these same workshops, I also meet my future agency, SBV Talent’s lead person Mary Ellen Lord. I do the same thing. Mary proceeds to circumvent SBV’s entire policy of “Referrals Only” representation to ask me to come to their offices to record an official application demo.Note that none of these workshop outcomes, or the workshops themselves, were things pointed to me by studios I was working for. This section was all self-driven/pursued (and also required me to be local).Since then, I’ve been continuing the routine of doing freelance work from home, sending out auditions for studio-hosted projects when the sides are provided to me, and generally working with my mentor when I have questions about approaching a certain character. Either because of personal growth or recent portfolio additions (or both), my success rate with booking new roles has kind of shot up; I’m hoping this trend continues for the foreseeable future.

okay so I've thought extensively over what it would be like to transition from female to male over the past four years. except, even a name change seems like so much hassle because I've already started to brand myself as a professional director with my birth name. I get this wonderful feeling when people 'misgender' me as a boy and whenever I write self-inspired characters, they're always guys. but I'm also sort of okay with myself as I am... I'd just be more comfortable as a guy. advice?
Hi love :) first of all, I totally get where you’re coming from. You don’t have to experience severe dysphoria to want to transition, and especially if you’ve been thinking about it for a while, it’s probably something you should look into! It’s your life and honestly, you should do what makes you happy, not just "avoid what makes you miserable." You don't have to hate yourself to want to change yourself!
My advice is to find a close friend or coworker who you trust and spend a lot of time with and have them switch pronouns with you for a while to see what it would feel like. Give a different name at coffeeshops, play around with presenting masculinely, see if it’s something you like the feeling of. If you decide you want to start to transition, take it slow! One person at a time! Do research, teach yourself, and I’m always here for advice.
As for rebranding yourself: I get that so much. One of the reasons I never changed my name is because “Izzy” is fairly gender neutral but also because I’m not uncomfortable with it, so it seems like a hassle to change to something I’m technically more comfortable with. You don’t have to change your name in the professional world right away, or even at all if you’re comfortable, but it doesn’t take too long for people to adjust! Especially in directing- there’s a lot of constant communication in the arts, it’ll be okay :)
Thanks dear, message me if you ever have more questions!

Could you do something where MC is swedish? (I'm swedish and I don't see much about it regarding MM ^^)
Hello there! Our former Mod Yoo did this ask and she sent me her responce to this ask. ~Madre Mod
Hej! Louise. Tack! For your ask. You’re absolutely right, I have to confess that I’m not familiar with Swedish culture other than the fact that I love going to IKEA for some very mystical reasons so I’ve done some very simple research before writing this answer, I hope you’ll like it. Do let me know if there’s anything to improve. Love, Mod Yoo.Here’s a little something for MM Characters x Swedish Fem!MC. Inclusive of a random favourite food canon for each pair, from MC’s home country.
Yoo-sung Kim
- His attention was drawn to MC in the lobby of his campus, she wasn’t smiling a whole lot.
- Doesn’t stop him from thinking that she looks totally stunning.
- He wanted to talk to her so badly but is worried that he’d scare her off.
- Got to know from some of his university peers that she’s an exchange student from Sweden.
- Realises that he knows nothing about her birth country.
- He finally mustered enough courage to go up to her and said hi.
- “Hi, My name is Yoo-sung Kim, I’m a final year student here. I heard that you’re on a student exchange program. I hope you’ve made yourself comfortable around here. You can talk to me if you need any help,”
- Before she could say anything, he excused himself and paced away quickly trying to cool down his searing hot cheeks.
- It took her awhile to approach him again, his patience was running out. “Was I too eager? Have I scared her off? Maybe she’s just not interested…” Random thoughts like these kept flashing across his mind.
- “Hi, you’re Yoo-sung, right? The one who spoke to me in the students’ hall and left in a hurry.” He turned around to find her across him along the corridor.
- He swore he could feel all his blood rise to his cheeks again. “Yes, that’s me. How can I assist you today?”
- To her, he seemed genially shy, kind and helpful, so she decides to trust him.
- “I don’t need anything particular, thank you. Perhaps, would you like to Fika after classes later?”
- “F-fika?” Suddenly he remembers about his research. “O-of course, I’d love to.”
- That was the start of a beautiful friendship. This pair enjoys Kanelbullar (Cinnamon Rolls), Kottbullar med brunsas (Meatballs in Cream Sauce) and Vasterbottenpaj (Cheese Pie)
Zen a.k.a. Hyun-ryu
- The moment he saw her at one of his musical practice, he thought she’s beautiful. In fact, she’s more beautiful than himself to him.
- “Hey Min-soo ya.” He called out to one of his production crew. “Who’s the little lady in a grey sweater? I’ve never seen her before.”
- “Oh! You mean MC. She just arrived this morning. Heard from Mr Director that she’s an intern who’ll be helping us to prepare for the performance.”
- “Ah, where’s she from?” He asked. “Sweden. If I remembered correctly.”
- He grabbed an extra bottle of water and walks up to MC.
- “Hi MC, it’s your first day today. I’m Zen, one of the actor in this performance.” He beamed and continued “May I know the major of your studies?”
- MC was caught off guard by him towering over her. He’s so fair… Good looking, too.
- “Oh. Uh. Yea. Fine Arts.” Is what she managed to utter, looking down at her shoes. She hoped that he hadn’t notice the dusting of pink over her cheeks.
- He was alotwhoyoukiddingzen a little disappointed sensing the indifference in her reaction, but shook it off and handed her the water bottle nonetheless.
- “Oh. Okay, sure. Keep yourself hydrated and take care, I’m just gonna go and resume practice.” Slowly withdrawing his steps from her and goes back on stage.
- Practice for the day has finally come to an end. He was packing up when he heard someone say something.
- “Hello. My name is MC, the girl from earlier.” He was surprised, “Of course, MC. Is there anything you need? I hope your day went well.”
- “I’m good, thanks. I apologise that I sounded aloof earlier, I don’t do well in front of new people. I’ve watched you practice and wondered… If you could explain this part of the music and facial expression to me?”
- He scrunched his face funny and sang a few verse.- His grin got wider as she snorts and chuckled.
- “You know what? Come on, let’s go to Hemlagat idontknowhowhefoundit, I heard they’re famous in Seoul. I haven’t tried Swedish food before, I’m starving. Care to join me for dinner? My treat.” He asked, hopeful that she’d agree.
- “No.” His heart sank. “I’ll go with you only if I’m paying for my own share.”
- They had a great time at dinner, sharing the same passion for fine arts. Deep down, they hoped to see more of each other in the future. This pair enjoys Gubbrora (Egg Salad with Anchovies), Kladdkaka (Sticky Chocolate Cake) and Spenatsoppa med agg (Spinach Soup with Soft-boiled Egg & Horseradish)
Jae-hee Kang
- “Mr Han. Please tell me that you’re joking. This is her first time in Korea.”- “I’ve personally gone through her resume, it’s quite impressive. She’ll make a good assistant for you. It’s final. You’ll expect her here in an hour.”
- She’d known that it’s impossible to change her boss’s decision to hire her a Swedish assistant. “What is he thinking! How long am I expected to train her…”
- “Good morning, Ms Kang?” Her chain of thoughts broken at the greeting.
- “Yes. I’m Jae-hee Kang, Chief Secretary for the Executive Director. I assume you’re MC?” She said as a matter-of-factly as possible, trying to stay calm.
- “You’re right. I understand your concern about my lack of local working experience in this country. I can assure you, that you’ll not be disappointed.”
- “Ah, that’s good to know. Thank you.” She’s genuinely amused by MC’s professional attitude. Things doesn’t look as dull as it seemed before.
- As she spends months down the road having MC as her assistant, her workload has been delegated and more effectively completed.
- She respects that MC is humble, a vigorous planner, independent, and doesn’t let her emotions affect work.
- They’ve since became such good friends, to which she’s very grateful of.- She holds very high hopes for MC to have a bright future in C&R, and is determined to groom MC to take her own place in case if anything happens to herself.
- Both of them loves coffee so much that they’d almost always spend their free time cafe hopping around town. This pair enjoys Lingonparfait (Lingonberry Parfait), Flugande jakob (Baked Chicken with Bananas and Peanuts) and Jordgubbar med mjolkoch socker (Strawberries with Milk and Sugar).
Ju-min Han
- He met one of the most beautiful woman he’s ever come across in C&R’s annual business forum.
- He’s never seen someone so graceful with her every gesture.
- Despite having dealt with many kinds of people from the opposite gender.
- For the first time, he could feel that she’s different from the others.
- His confidence to approach her slowly ebb away.
- He stood deep in thoughts while waiting for his wine to be refilled.
- Only to have his mind yanked open on a soft voice “Mr Han, Jumin?”
- There she was right in front of him, both hands holding a glass of wine.
- “I noticed that you needed to focus on something in your head so I took the honour to…”
- Before she could complete her sentence, he’d already have one of the glass in his hands.
- “My apologies, I’ve had a small moment of absent-mindedness there. I shouldn’t have let such a special person like you be looking out for me.” He barely managed to cover up the stammers in his own voice. juminhannostammers.
- She lightly chuckled as she passed him a piece of note. In the most soothing voice she said “It’s been my honour. I’ve to excuse myself to another event with my colleague, take care.” before stepping away.
- When she’s finally disappeared from his sight, he opened her note that reads, “No matter what you’re thinking, never forget that you’re special. Everything is going to be okay. I’d like to see you again if it’s okay with you… There’s a (name of Swedish restaurant) beside my hotel, where we can meet at 8 p.m. tomorrow evening, before my flight home the next day.”
- He then takes a sip of wine, his eyes widen when he noticed a perfectly full lipstick stain, a small smile and blush immediately crept on his face as her message flashes across his mind again. This pair enjoys Inkokta Paron (Poached Pears with cinnamon, vanilla and whipped cream), Biff Ryberg (Beef Ryberg), and Gravad Lax Med Potatissallad (Cured Salmon with potato salad).
Saeyoung Choi
- This secret agent was on a mission in Sweden when he spotted an angel.
- He was lying in ambush from a target.
- There was a crying little girl who stood by the side of the road across him.
- It was then when he saw his angel walked up towards the crying child, gently taking the child’s hand and started having small pep talks.
- Her attempt to soothe the child was more than miraculous.
- All he sees are now smiles and nods.
- He swore his heart had halted as his sight shifted to the suspect exiting the building behind them, and he.had.a.weapon.
- Decided it was too risky to take the shot, he leaped out from hiding and attempted to subdue his target away from possibly harming his angel and the child.
- Despite receiving some bruises and cuts, he manage to pin the man down in waiting for the authorities to arrive.
- The child’s parents was also notified and they came to pick them up.
- After all the commotion when everything seems to be settling back to normal, “Well… Hello to my stranger-knight-in-shining-armour…” omgdidanangeljustspoke “The name’s 707, o-or you can call me Luciel, I’m sure you’ve been frightened earlier but I’m glad that no one’s hurt.”
- “That’s all thanks to you, Luciel… You look like no one from around the area. If you don’t mind, I’d like to invite you to my place, where your injuries can be tend to and you can catch some rest too. As a bonus, my parents are great cooks.”
- “Sounds like a wonderful idea.” Saeyoung says as he contemplates in his mind. He’ll leave at dawn and before anyone realises and he’ll never see her again.
- He quietly exits the back door after leaving her family a thank you note. He’s never felt this sad in a long time.
- To his greater surprise, he found a small handmade pouch in his bag containing all the med supplies she used to treat him and a piece of blank paper. “Wha..?”
- His tears flowing when the handwritten message appeared on the paper before his lighter.
- “I don’t know anything about you, except your name; but I’ve got an inkling. Please take care of yourself and be safe in everything you do, in my heart I’ll always keep you. I know you’ll come back for me one day.” idiedheretooThis pair enjoys Shu Sorters Kakor (7 kinds of cookies), Raggmunk Med Rimmat Sidflask (Potato Pancakes with bacon and Lingonberry jam), and Janssons Frestelse (Jansson’s Temptation).
