The driver of the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday has been identified as Matthew Alan Livelsberger, an active-duty US Army Green Beret, according to a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation.

The US Special Forces, commonly known as the “Green Berets,” bill themselves as an elite fighting force specializing in guerilla warfare and unconventional tactics abroad.

The identity of the man comes a day after the Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump hotel, killing the driver and injuring seven others. A combination of fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel in the bed of the vehicle were detonated by a device controlled by the driver, police said.

The FBI is investigating whether the explosion is tied to terrorism, and officials noted the implications of the Tesla vehicle and the hotel’s namesake.

“It’s a Tesla truck, and we know that Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it’s the Trump tower,” Kevin McMahill, sheriff of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, said Wednesday. “So, there’s obviously things to be concerned about there, and that’s something we continue to look at.”

On New Year’s Eve, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a Muslim-American man born in Texas, committed a brutal terrorist attack, running down revelers in New Orleans with a truck and using an assault rifle to attack civilians and police officers. Jabbad killed at least 15. Bombs were discovered in Jabbar’s truck and several locations in New Orleans. Fortunately, the bombs were disarmed without incident. Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police.

There is strong evidence that this massacre was a terrorist attack committed on behalf of ISIS. Jabbar flew an ISIS flag from his truck. There have been conflicting reports from the FBI and the Louisiana State Police on whether others were involved in the New Orleans terrorist attack. Some press reports suggested that an explosion on New Year’s Day of a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Tower in Las Vegas was linked to the New Orleans terrorist attack.

Several government failures allowed the New Orleans terrorist attack to occur. One concerns bollards, barriers in the street to prevent vehicles from being used to run down people that were under repair and not activated. This was a major security failure by New Orleans officials.

“I can't rule out the possibility that this individual was acting as part of a broader effort to create chaos and instability in the United States prior to the inauguration of Donald Trump to prevent Trump from being inaugurated. Because Trump is seen as a potential existential threat to organizations like the FBI, the CIA, [and] the Department of Justice,” the veteran intel analyst said.

Johnson has several questions about the New Orleans incident, such as who planted the two IEDs and where the money came from, considering the suspect was reportedly broke and had no explosives or firearms training, serving in the Army’s HR department.

The Las Vegas suspect, as an active-duty Special Forces NCO, “did have the training with weapons and explosives, which in turn begs the question of how did he blow himself up?” Johnson asked, adding that the social media photo of the suspect wearing a ‘Slava Ukraini’ T-shirt begs the question of whether he ever traveled to Ukraine or had any contacts with Ukrainian intelligence.

“Because this very well could have been had a tie into Ukraine. Carrying out an attack on the Trump Tower. Because they recognize Donald Trump is going to potentially bring an end to this war,” Johnson said.

This is Matthew Livelsberger, a 37 year old Green Beret on leave from Germany. Matthew is the alleged suspect that detonated the Cyber Truck bomb outside of the Las Vegas Trump Tower yesterday. Currently the motive is unknown but fortunately his explosion didn't kill anyone but injured 7 people. Autopsy reports state Livelsberger shot himself in the head before the bomb went off. It was supposedly unrelated to the New Orleans terror attack although Livelsberger and Jabbar were both stationed at Fort Bragg at some point in time.
