I'd really like prompt 3, the one with the dream if them , and Azul from twst

He's my fav of the twst cast and a comfort character (❁´◡`❁)

my pronouns are they/them/he/him, so do whatever you like with that info

maybe it's just me, but in a dream someone would have to do something cute and/or sweet in it to get me flustered and avoiding them (lol I'm weak to fluff but not really spice)

💌Azul Ashengrotto + Prompt #3 (Seeing them in your dreams, being too flustered to face them in real life.)

Dreams end at the most climactic moment. That is to say, right when the zombies catch you or as soon as you hit the ground. The same holds true for good dreams especially.

Which brings you to your current predicament. 

The details were fading away, all that remained burned into your mind were those final moments—a wistful piano instrumental filling the air, the feeling of your hand in his as he led you in a slow dance, a lightness taking over your body as if you were floating, the steady heat of his palm against yours lingering even after you’ve woken up.

Of course, to be further spited by fate, the both of you are paired for a short research paper, carefully looking through the reference section of the library. Together.

“—if we could find more literature on—Hm? Is something the matter?” Azul looks up from the book he was skimming through.

“Oh, it’s nothing. I’ve just got a few things on my mind.” You play it off with a wave of your hand.

He levels a concerned look at you. “Is our class representative overworking himself again?”

“N-no, not this time. It’s nothing, just some personal business.”

“If you say so, then. But if you need a listening ear, just know that I can make room in my schedule to assist you. It would be terrible if I let a dear colleague of mine carry such a burden, wouldn’t it?” There’s something about those words, or maybe his voice, that makes your stomach uneasy. 

There are some things you know about Azul Ashengrotto definitively. Anyone can spot his flair for showmanship. He’s busy, but also approachable. Maybe distant at times, but always polite.

(Not at all like the Azul in your dream. Not like the Azul of now.)

Scratch that point about distance, you didn’t get the memo that the both of you were close enough to be dear colleagues.

But here you are, on the receiving end of his complete and utter attention. It occurs to you now how little you truly know about Azul.

The ring of the bell cuts your conversation short, and you blurt out a flimsy excuse before rushing out and leaving him alone in the library.

a/n: hiiii!! thanks for sending in a request and happy valentines day💕💕 i had a bit of challenge trying to pin down azul's chara because i kept thinking any sweet or tender gesture from him would first of all be off-putting to the target of his affection,,, and that kinda carried through in the writing,,, oops,,, these drabbles weren't meant to contain slowburn tension🤧🤧Either way this prompt was fun to write, i hope u enjoyed reading this💕💕

lots of new luna (undertale insert) lore i came up with on my 2 hour drive homeeee:

- the snowdin shopkeeper is her mom! so the innkeeper is her aunt and the little rabbit is her nephew/niece! so she has a lot of connections in the town and most residents know her well!

(them if you haven’t played ut!! and if not….go play rn….)

-the dreemurs babysat her a few times when she was very young whenever her own mother was very busy. before their separation the dreemurs were often involved with the community, visiting shops and interacting with the residents of the different areas

-she would play with asriel too! asriel was kind of like an older sibling to her (which is funny bc later on flowey is like her little sibling) i generally believe undertale takes place 20-ish years post chara so luna meets the dreemurs during that time when she’s about 5-7 years old! she also meets chara who she ends up liking a lot which makes asriel slightly jealous. so they kinda compete to be the better older sibling to her lol. in a lighthearted way though, they’re all friends and their death takes a toll on luna even though she was very young when it happens

- she’s known sans since she was a kid as well! they met when he and papyrus moved in to snowdin and she’s always been super friendly towards them. she gets along well with a younger papyrus and he’s been quite attached to her ever since (it may not be practical to canon but my hc is he’s 8 years old when they move with sans and luna being around 14-16)

- sans is really shy around her when they first meet. for a while he does try to avoid her bc he thinks she’s cute and also annoying (hehe). but she never really stops trying to become the two skeletons friend (maybe because of the void left by chara and asriel who knows….) well eventually they become very good friends and basically grow up together. but they still hide things from each other and it isn’t until frisk comes along do they truly learn to open up and realize their feelings (maybe frisk and papyrus play matchmaker idk but that would be super cute..)

Can you elaborate on your interpretation of Flowey's ability to SAVE as a metaphor for trauma?

hi meant to answer this when u first sent it But things were busy and i also have So Many Thoughts SO prepare for my flowey rambling!! i might go a little more into depth about grief and the specific kind of grief flowey has so just be cautious if thats triggering at all

anyway the thing that stands out about saving to me most is that it's linked to control. the person saving has the choice to go back, or repeat everything however many times they like, or just move on and let things play out. flowey himself mentions he knows that power, that was the power we were trying to stop-- when given that sense of control people are bound to uhhh Not Have A Great Time! and it really reminds me of what ptsd and survivors guilt is like to deal with; the idea that somehow you could have stopped it or that only if you did this certain thing you could have saved someone or yourself so much trouble. flowey's ability to sa ve is grown from this belief that if only he made the right choice everything would have been fine, and a need for control for when he might have to make such a decision again in the future

he even says himself that he could have stopped whenever! just let everything go on. but he can't, at least he can't emotionally take something like that. flowey can't move on because of his need for control and stability in a world where he's trapped himself. it's like... a lot of times people who are in a bad state of mind subconsciously don't want to get better, because they're used to feeling the way they are. it's scary to move on and change because sometimes feeling so sad all the time feels like it Must be You, and then who are you if you're happy? there's also flowey's guilt, where he's probably questioning if he even has the right to be happy if chara is gone. especially when he clearly blames himself for what happened to chara. so he'd rather sit here in a world where he's in control and bored because at least he knows what's coming. people are predictable, but it offers him some weird stability

the other thing that really gets me about his ability to save is that he can only go back to waking up as a flower. at this point, chara is already gone, and he can't go back to being "asriel". it feels like... no matter how much he thinks about chara, who they were and their death and his inability to keep them from dying and how they filled their water to the top of the glass, he can't go back. he can reset everything all he wants, but he can't go back to before chara died. and adding onto that, wanting to return ends up idolizing chara in his brain. who knows if he even still thinks of them as they actually were. it's part of the reason why no one feels real to him. he has this distinct disconnect with himself and others because he needs to be in control and know everything, while with chara he felt they were "special". that they're the only one that could possibly understand.

and it makes sense that he feels that way! the only person who experienced his trauma was chara. he has an emotional wall up because the underground can't truly understand what he's feeling. no one feels real to him both because of this emotional wall but also because he's convinced himself that he's in control, that he knows exactly how things are going to go. he has this superiority and inferiority to others and a terrible savior complex because of his trauma, and it shows itself in his ability to save. it's like... he feels so trapped and out of control that he's desperately trying to hold onto any sense of control he can get but he doesn't realize how much his refusal to let go and heal is hurting him.

gonna talk about grief when it comes to suicide specifically here so WATCH OUT!!!! okay i have warned u all i am going to talk about it now. feel free to leave if it may be triggering i am begging u to not put urself through triggering bullshit <3

anyway i think the fact that chara took themself out and asriel felt like he couldn't tell anyone because this was for the sake of freeing everyone is really. that's the nail in the coffin. the heart of his control issues. i feel it might be a bit difficult to understand if someone hasn't gone through that grief themselves, but when someone you've known and loved has told you of a plan to get rid of themselves for the sake of everyone else, it leaves you feeling helpless. after all, if someone plans to do it, they will do it. you can't control that no matter how much you might want to. the fact that he lived through that-- that he couldn't stop chara, that he couldn't save anyone not even himself, that he might have made the wrong choice-- that's the thing that's eating at him. he constantly talks about how If Only Someone Made The Right Choice Everything Could Have Been Prevented. he's taken up chara's death unto himself. if only he did the right thing, then maybe chara would be here. but that's not how it works. chara was their own person, but asriel doesn't know how to be his own person.

that's why him saying he doesn't regret his choice anymore after so much time is so important!! it's him finally accepting that he needs to let go of chara and start living for himself. so his ability to save and finally letting go of his ability to save is so important to his trauma and cycle of self hatred. that's why he begs us to let frisk go. he knows what it's like to live through that cycle. the ability to save can be a metaphor for plenty of things but i think with flowey specifically it's an incredibly well written way of establishing what trauma feels like and the need to be in control after feeling so out of control of everything during the event. i hope that my deranged rambling makes any amount of sense cuz i think about this so very much

flowey is such an important character to me cuz he's really helped me analyze my own process of thinking while dealing with that kind of grief and it's kinda helped me come to terms with what happened. i love flowey sooo very much i really hope we get to see him more in the newsletter stuff cuz i neeeeed to see him being happy and living his life after his trauma i love the fact that he has a ribbon from papyrus cuz hes finally living for himself and his friendships and i am GOING to CRY !!!!

Studying Generalism

It's taken us altogether too long to realize that if we had a proper place or station in life, a profession or occupation, it's to be a generalist. Every time we thought that we'd found a career in the usual specific sense that's assumed by U.S. society, we got bounced out of it. As you might imagine that wasn't pleasant to experience. It's meant decades of frustration and anger and self-loathing, racking up a string of failed careers. But even a failed career means experience and it has been of great long-term advantage to us, it seems, to have acquired such a wide variety of experiences, even if they were short and shambolic ones.

But how does one become a generalist? Pursuing a specific career is far more straightforward and well-documented, but there's no discipline or body of wisdom corresponding to generalism, is there? Actually...there is, but the difficulty is that almost all of it is likely to be bogus. For there's one sort of human being most likely to assert that they're generalists, and that's the man of business, the "entrepreneur" or the "founder" or the "investor". Because they're merely interested in success in the conventional capitalist sense, the would-be "founders" of the world are aimless and capricious in their interests, but they're easily persuaded to think that this means they're universal geniuses, good at everything they dabble with. Thus I don't doubt that if I looked for books purporting to describe how to be a generalist, I'd find thousands—and they'd all be terrible.

If there's any truly helpful and salutary approach to generalism, I suspect, it's through spirituality and mysticism. I have encountered the idea that magic or "the occult" can be regarded as the art of arts, the human discipline that really and truly does touch upon everything else. I'm reminded of my one taste of the work of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, the famous polymath of the German Renaissance, and was struck to learn that it was very much like an outline of all known human knowledge. If you were a polymath in those days, like Agrippa or Avicebron or Paracelsus, very likely you gained a reputation as an occultist and practitioner of magic. The "Enlightenment" and the severities of the Christian Reformation and Counter-Reformation rather put an end to such notions, and studying the occult became very disreputable and unsafe. But I would like to reverse that trend! =D

We are having a very difficult time figuring out how to get started. It has been an uphill battle of years simply to impose even the most basic of disciplines upon ourselves and internalize them. To put it bluntly, authoritarian U.S. society does everything possible to prevent the establishment of personal disciplines: we're supposed to jump around when we're told and that means we're discouraged as much as possible from having any strongly developed personality or sense of values. Frauds and charlatans have captured this field, each selling their own canned (and poisonous) variation on how to have an identity or purpose, always pitched in commercial terms: this is how to be successful, how to make friends and influence people, and so forth. Another difficulty is that we were never properly taught how to study! U.S. schools give this practically no attention. It's a sink-or-swim thing: the child is expected to figure out how to study on their own. Hence we learned nothing but bad habits and terrible coping mechanisms for our various cognitive and neurological issues...we never learned how to do it correctly.

It really does feel like...Back to Zero, if I may say so (q.v. Fate/Zero.)

There is so much to say about this robot but let me start off with my initial thoughts on him.

For like, a good good while I wasn't sure what Mettaton's gender was? In all fairness I was raised in a hella conservative country and Undertale was the first piece of media I'd ever interacted with that even depicted queer people, so for a bit I assumed the pink meant he was probably female. That wasn't helped when I discovered that Mettaton was Blooky's cousin with the locked pink house.

Luckily for me he was discussed enough that I eventually realized my mistake before I ever had to admit it. That would have been emabrassing.

Anyway I absolutely adored this robot and his style, his quizzes were cool and he had the most charming attitude that made me smile whenever he was there (not to mention the quizzes were funny, too). Don't get me started on the musical. Or when he hits you with the puzzle you've almost certainly forgotten the rules for. Hotland is very well done, even if some people dislike having to deal with Alphys's messages there (personally I thought those were neat).

Despite all this I have to admit that I initially thought he was a lot more shallow than expected. I didn't realize he was the type of person to actually care about his love ones, and I probably would've believed anyone who told me he treated Alphys like shit (okay maybe I'd have been a little skeptical, but you get the point).

Nowadays, I'm honestly pretty fond of his relationship with Alphys, as he's probably the one person she relied on the most during her various fuck ups. Also, his... his worries about Alphys in the ending where he becomes king... ah, that still makes me tear up a little. You can tell he cares and regrets not being a better friend to her.

This is only partly related but I dislike Papyton. For no reason, really, I just don't like it, and I disliked having to see it so often (until I learnt filters existed, anyway). I couldn't tell you why; the ship's perfectly fine. Yet if I see a fic with it I click out. Oh well, maybe I'll get over it one day.

I could totally see a world in which I become as attached to Mettaton as I am to Cagliostro from GBF. I'm not trans by any stretch (perhaps I'm non-binary, given I don't actually care much about my own gender in the slightest, but for now I'll stick with cis+ until I actually feel like I should consider it more) but I do have admiration for characters like them who strive to be their best selves in terms of appearance and are absolutely confident in it. I suppose if I was born a girl, I'd be more attached to Mettaton than Cagliostro, but eh. Who knows.

Mettaton's importance (or rather, lack of) in the genocide run is saddening, though I have come to terms with it because in terms of the game's writing it's a pretty damn good decision. I do love that he got fangames giving him an actual battle though, it's lovely to see him actually get that chance to fight back.

I feel the need to restate once more that I adore his relationship with Alphys, and seeing works explore that relationship is always great. I think Mettaton is one of the least fan-explored of the game's main cast, so it'd be wonderful to see more works. It's a shame I'm too busy thinking about Sans, Frisk and Chara to do that myself, though.

One more thing: Until I wrote this post, I always wondered why Mettaton didn't just fight the human in his indestructible body instead, especially in the genocide route. I mean, it's obviously because his other forms are the ones actually designed for human eradication, of course, but I also like to think it's because he likes those forms a lot more than his box form, as he sees them as a proper expression of who he truly is. I just think that's neat. Sure, he's indestructible when stuck in the closet, hiding who he truly is, but it's restricting, and wouldn't you prefer to simply be you? Even if it could mean you could get hurt? I think that question is somewhat inseparable from Mettaton's character as a whole, as his overly confident and theatrical personality could perhaps be one answer to that. It's fine if you get hurt a little, because in the end you'll be much happier for it.

oh but seriously hyunwoo is so gilyoung coded it’s crazy, the image of them lying side by side… LHH’s sentiment about them looking like brothers is such a sweet sentiment

otherwise i feel it’s finally time to settle my opinions on the readers

1: Lee Hakhyun (my serious favorite chara of all orv)

He refuses to let ANY reader die, it really reminds me of that Dokja selfishness for his companions but it somehow expresses so much kinder out of LHH idk, i just be saying shit now

thank goodness that he’s slightly better emotionally regulated, i love how everyone loves him as well n he so loves them back (especially that 41!YJH guy…) (damn this kind of rehashes my reasons for loving Dokja but that guy is severely more emotionally constipated so i like LHH better)

he feels like such a reliable guy, he really makes sure everyone will be okay n it truly feels like orvss will have a good ending bc he’s there to see it through

yk that feeling of pride u get when Kim Dokja gets hyped up on ORV, yeah i get that for LHH so hard he’s like my guy ever if i were a constellation, half my savings would be gone bc im busy gassing up LHH. he’ll do anything n ill be like “damn RIGHT he did, my goat”

theater dungeon cube room convo my beloved, literally a top 5 scene for me and all they did was talk

seriously tied w her brother but i think i like her slightly more because she’s the first reader 🥺 i mean LHH’s biggest number one fan literaturegirl64, likes his original works more.

the story of her n her brother is such a, idk gets my heart… orphanage, siblings? she’s blind and her brother has info dumped orv in audio over 6 complete times to her? amazing (this one of applies to why i like both characters, duh)

also just one of the most skilled fighters, ik orv women go crazy but orvss has so many new top tier female fighters, rlly said “no constellation” just a martial arts goat, she n her bro stood out immediately as the badass readers. her design makes me rlly happy too, i keep thinking abt it please make her real blackbox or webtoon ( in aprox. 6 years…)

the 1 on 1 convos she has w LHH are always so special to me, more than ever LHH is an author to her and she is his reader

is that right? you want to be kim dokja but you can’t. this mf sets off 20 red flags every damn chapter but there’s that sense that he will always remain an ally cause he’s a smart kid and very self-aware so it’s also tragic in that sense

oddly enough he feels like an outsider to the group but he’s around really often n i think he really sets that distance himself

i think he’s really gotta embrace that he’s okay with being taken care of and hiding behind someone but is also capable himself. gong pildu literally your dad little man. I think we’re really at the trickling last bits of his general character arc

5: Lee Dansu (Noh Kyunghwan) (made me cry like 20 times)

favorite dilf in the apocalypse. im joking. maybe

his entire like arc got me bawling my eyes out ong i just wish for him to be happy, kindly middle aged man who only read orv to understand his daughter? like what if i end it all omg it’s so… 😭😭😭

my wish is for him and hyunwoo to talk deadass. they should mourn together. hyunwoo knows what happened to his daughter and they both share a really close connection w her

there’s a real time to shoe him in these chapters bc that’s his daughter’s best friend n then his constellation came down too? deadass

6: Kyung Sein (does this count as trans girl)

she’s goofy silly cute… him? i mean it’s the only time we’ve seen a different gendered reader to character deadass did they run out of incarnation bodies for transmigration?

but anyway, i think it’s fun that she just stans heewon so hard she worked out n then is like bros with hyunsung. 41!YJH legitimately values her and the rest of the companions in combat. this round is so interesting bc like there’s the usual incarnations + the readers who got crazy good powerful so the balance is wrecked

honestly she and Lee Dansu were like, the first companions so there’s a sense of fondness that just comes from knowing them for so long

7: Ji Enyu

victim of less screen time bc she’s being badass on her own, seriously. initially she’s all like “haha what if we get put in the orv world there’s no way I’d survive” n she’s surviving the hardest, the balls on this woman. i think my jaw drops everytime she appears bc she’s got new awesome abilities n powers n connections. don’t even need that YJH carry

she and LHH literally got that best friend feel on, just looking at each other n understanding each other

I imagine a job that involves logic and reasoning would be up his alley, so yes, being a lawyer wouldn’t be a stretch. I also think he may end up a doctor like his parents, but of his own violation, and not because of their insistence. I could also see him being a teacher. 

Ace Trappola: 

NBA SUPERSTAR BABY. Genuinely. I think he’s got the personality and talent for that kind of stuff. Otherwise, I could see him being a snarky mathmetician or a beloathed gym teacher. This guy’s got some range. 

Deuce Spade: 

I could see him working as a physical trainer. I think he’d do well in a job that lets him help others, especially when they’re in desperate need of it. 

Cater Diamond: 

Social media influencer (read: niche internet microcelebrity), but he also works as a model or actor in his freetime. I like to imagine Vil and him working together in the industry a lot, and becoming good friends when they get older. 

Trey Clover: 

A baker, dentist, or chemist, as those are his passions. I think realistically he’d work as a dentist, and maybe even intern with Sebek’s parents, hehe. 

Leona Kingscholar: 

Diplomat, given his nobility. I think he’s initially a bit resentful of the role, but he’d make a good advocate for his country, and he comes to be widely respected for his intelligence and wit. 

Ruggie Bucchi: 

Leona’s assistant or advisor, given what we know about he and Leon’a relationship from the game. I could also see him working as a diplomat though, and advocating for those in poverty. I think he and Leona stick by one another for a long time after graduation. 

Jack Howl:

Another professional athlete. I think he’d make it to the TWST olympics, honestly. Not that it’s a job, but I could also see him being a wonderful father. 

Azul Ashengrotto: 

Entrepreneur and restaurant owner. He expands the Monstro Loungue brand and gets insanely wealthy, much to everyone’s chagrin. 

Jade Leech: 

An agriculturalist, specifically focusing on cultivating mushrooms and researcching them. He’s absolutely in love with his job. 

Floyd Leech: 

Fashion designer and absolute menace to the fashion world. He makes some truly stunning stuff, but showcasing his work means putting up with him, which many are reluctant to do. Thankfully, he has both his family and Azul’s backing.

Kalim Al’Asim: 

He’d take over his family business, while also making a few ventures of his own with the money he has. I imagine him donating a lot to charity, and investing in systems to improve his country. 

Jamil Viper: 

I think he would break away from Kalim and pursue being a musician and/or dancer. He still helps Kalim, but not as an advisor or forced companion, and rather as a begruding but willing friend. 

Vil Schoenheit: 

I think it goes without saying that he’s continuing his already stellar career as an actor/model/musician/probably a million other things. 

Rook Hunt: 

An art critic who rises to notoriety for his beautifully worded yet no less honest and critical reviews. I could also see him being a private eye, for less than savory reasons. Maybe he does it in his free time? Also, archeologist. 

Epel Felmier: 

Professional Spelldrive player! He’s not the best of the best, but his determination and will to succeed makes him a force to be reckoned with. 

Idia Shroud: 

Software developer and a game designer! I think he’d love being in charge of creating the games he adores so much. I could also see him running a tech company as the reclusive CEO.

Malleus Draconia: 

King of Briar Valley after his grandmother passes the title to him. If not that, then I think he’d like to be a historian, given his lifespan and appreciation for older things. 

Lilia Vanrougue: 

He’s already an old man, but if he had to pick a more mundane job, I could see him touring with a metal band, or teaching younger kids in Briar Valley. 

Silver & Sebek Zigvolt:

As the prophecy hath foretold, they’ll probably end up being Malleus’s guards for a long time, then perhaps becoming generals or leaders in the valley’s military.

i do enjoy darlings winning, but i feel with yanderes (especially with bsd yan), it’s always going to be a momentarily win. always running, always looking over the shoulder, never having a break — just watching and waiting as paranoia sets in and fear strangles mind, heart, and soul. it’s a miserable life that might end with darling doing something drastic, or even mindbreaking stockholm syndrome setting end and going back to the yan. the preferred choice is darling always fighting to the end but it is a sad sight for many because they’re never going to truly win. also lots of thoughts spilling in and out of my hanster brain because of the last ango piece and im looking. Are there any relationships among your own muses? If so, tell us more!

There are quite a bit of relationships among my muses!

一 - The triplets are just that! Siblings! However, their relationship is much different from that of a normal sibling relationship, even that of multiples, and identical multiples. Their blood is considered "tainted" because it deviates from that of the full-blooded Kendricks by introducing a new creature to the bloodline. Historically, the only other species that were allowed were humans or other vampires, for them to have draconic blood in their DNA is considered a huge taboo. Thus, they've grown up to have a sexual relationship between them normalized in preparation for them to have children together or with other Kendricks to try and dilate the draconic bloodline. They also have a hard time differentiating themselves from each other due to all of them being prepared to take each other's places at a moment's notice. Each of them can play the part of the other two and that, as well as their strict upbringing, meshes with any sense of self that they may have tried to have.

二 - The triplets have a business relationship with Momento. He's more or less just a partner in business but they adore his loyalty and reward him greatly. They do daggle his ultimate goal over his head but Momento feels that he is learning quite a bit by being around them so he will let them play with him a bit longer if it means that he accomplishes his goal at the end of the day.

三 - I suppose you can say Mirabelle and Tatlim have a mother-daughter relationship. The two have never met, but Mirabelle is symbolically housed in Tatlim's pregnant belly while she waits for their life to calm down enough that she can come out of dormancy and Tatlim eagerly awaits that moment.

四 - Lolita and Noble have a kind of friendship. It's hard with Noble to come to terms with the Lolita and what she represents but Lola adores him. Throughout her trauma, she knew he was one of the children in her mind that she was protecting and as a result she feels very maternal towards him. When she was 064538, she was amazed by the way that he existed as Old Noble. She had no feelings, she was robotic, and he was so vibrant and full of life. He fought, he bled, he pushed people away, and she thought that was amazing. She still admires him, she still thinks that he's so strong and interesting and he lets her observe him.

五 - Dallas and Justice are sisters, they identify as twins but they don't look anything alike nor are they the same age. They are merely twins because they split around the same time, and they have almost exactly opposite roles. Dallas loves his sister, he thinks she's super cool and powerful but he wishes that she was kinder to others. He dedicates all his cheers to her and he always wants to hang out but Justice often pushes him away. She doesn't want to be close, as she doesn't trust closeness but she protects him more than anyone else. Anyone who is mean to Dallas or gossips about him gets the full effect of her biting tongue. Like most siblings only she can be mean to him.

六 - Tatlim is the mother of almost all the littles in the system, as well as Noble. She loves so much, she wants to be the mother that they never had and they feel it's too late for them to ever have. Despite splitting from Lolita, she is also her emotional protector. Though unlikely, just as a mother would, she takes on blows directed at Lola, and she tries to take away the worst of her pain so she can continue to function. She truly loves all of her children in the system, and she only wants the best for them. She doubts there will ever be a time that they are fully fused but she wishes for it.

七 - Entropy has a strange relationship with the fragments in the system. It's almost akin a very authoritarian owner and their pets. They keep all of them on a tight leash, only allowing them out when necessary and the one that they keep the most eyes on is Chara. Chara is their least favorite alter in the system and the one that they know can cause the most damage. One would almost say they both despise each other but it is debatable if Chara has the capacity to feel that way for Entropy.

八 - Justice has a deep crush on Entropy. Entropy is ageless but much too old for her but she still loves it. She has no clue if Entropy knows, if they do, they haven't entertained the idea at all but she will watch them from afar and try to come closer to front without them noticing when they're fronting. She likes to observe them and even tries to mimic other alters to try and throw them off her track.

九 - Chara is the worst nightmare for Noble, Stellar, Monalisa, and anyone else who had to live with Patricia and Alexis. These alters live in fear when Chara escapes from Entropy's watch as it will come after them and terrorize them to try and keep them in line.

十 - Francoise works closely with Tatlim and has a great deal of respect for her. He is also a caregiver but in a much different way. Instead of taking care of other alters, he is incredibly fine tuned to what the body is feeling and its needs. Tatlim also respects him quite a bit. It's difficult for her to be in tune with the body, she often feels dysphoric or the pain is too much for her, so for Francoise to almost be aware is something she could never imagine. They often tell each other how much they are appreciated and how the system couldn't survive without the other.

十一 - Forrest thinks Noble is weak. Noble hasn't made a large effort to reach out to Forrest, mainly because he is always very preoccupied with himself but Forrest doesn't have very good opinions of him. He feels that he was forced to be in existence just so Noble could feel in control and he despises that he has to come in and handle pain seemingly too often whenever Noble can't do it. Though, he tries to keep it in perspective as much as he can.

十二 - Lolita considers Charli to be her son and Charli is happy to consider her one of his mothers. Lola has always wanted a son, she doesn't know why she would prefer one over a daughter but this definitely causes her to dote on Charli whenever she runs into him. She is fiercely protective of him, often hanging around in co-con when he's out. She is terrified of something bad happening to him and Tatlim often as to try and calm her down before she frightens herself too much.

十三 - Nothing feels a strong sense of kinship with Lolita. After all, it was split to protect Lola and the pain that they couldn't endure. It's one of the system's last line of defenses and though it knows nothing but pain, it thinks that she's beautiful and considers her it's sun. Lola feels very guilty for not being strong enough to handle it. She hates that Nothing was formed because of her and has to have such a difficult job and she wishes she could take it back but she does that Nothing feels that it is helping her when it does its job so she tries to praise and let it know that she loves it.

十四 - Lolita despises Shame and Shame revels in getting the best of her and making her life hellish. Shame was split off of Lola and is almost akin to the voice of her darkest thoughts. It represents not just her shame, but also the shame that Pearly had because she fused with 064538. Shame has a terrible laugh that seems to ring through the system everytime it gets the better of Lola and it only adds to her shame.

十五 - Anatasia, Noodle, and Unnamed all have a complicated relationship. Lola is unaware of them but they are aware of her and have done a lot to make sure that she stays up and running. They are often found snuggling together and they reminisce as much as they can on what have endured and vow that they'll do it again for Lola. As fragments, they are unable to know anything else.

十六 - All of the Zombies are rather close. They are split off from the rest of the system so they don't have much of a relationship with the lot of them anyhow. They rely on each other and literally pick each other back up. It's rare that any of them front more than once, so they are very welcoming to new splits. It is difficult to know that your only purpose is to mentally die over and over again, so at least they know that they have alters around them that quite literally understand the pain.

十七 - The triplets and Ancord also have a very owner and pet-like relationship. However, Ancord is a dutiful pet and does whatever the twins ask of her. The twins in turn, reward her handsomely. Damien especially, who has been crafting Ancord for lack of better word, for a long time is very fond of her creation and loves her deeply. Ancord seems to return the sentiment and will do as Damien asks with no hesitation.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: abuse, divorce.

CATHERINE LOVETT. DANCE VP. LEAD SINGER & GUITARIST.

cat was born in new york city, new york but her and her parents moved to blossom hill when she was about five, her dad being kinda concerned about how the pollution would affect his kid. #ecofriendly. her family is old money but she’s never paid much mind to how rich they are, kinda just going with the flow. you can still tell to this day she’s a city girl, being an absolute wizard with public transport and having slight issues with the rurality of blossom hill. pls never put her in a field.

ever since she was a kid, cat’s had some issues with her anger. she was taken to a therapist, but 80% of the time it never manifested into physical violence ( she still hit a lot of people, but it was always after a verbal argument, she never fought without warning ), so the therapy didn’t help. everyone just came to understand cat was fairly tightly wound and liked being in control, something you don’t have a lot of when you’re a kid, and so her irritation manifested itself as sudden outbursts of anger. because of her issues, cat tended to not speak very much, feeling that the less she said, the less others had to reply to, lessening the chance of her getting annoyed and possibly causing upset. both of these behaviours have stayed with her her entire life, causing her to become known at school as a bit of a lit fuse.

her entire life cat’s mom has always had her on a tight leash. she pushed her into dance at a young age, being a retired ballerina herself, desperate to live out her glory days via her only child. cat, in a desperate attempt to atone for her anger issues, chose to give up her childhood and the things she wanted to do in hopes of making her mom happy. she thought by making her mom happy, she would make her dad happy, and maybe the hushed fights and tense glares at breakfast would stop.

despite the grueling practice schedule, cat found time to secretly develop her own hobbies. she didn’t go searching them out, they found her in twists of fate, calling to her as if by chance. she became good at practical subjects, things like woodwork and metalwork, and moved on to learn about car mechanics from her father in the small amount of spare time she had. it was their secret, of course, but that didn’t lessen her enjoyment. she picked up the guitar at a thrift store when she was ten, another gift from her dad for doing well in a silly, inconsequential test, yet that gift was the best thing to ever happen to cat. she discovered her true passion, music, and began to write songs.

when she was about fifteen, her parents got a divorce for reasons still unknown to her. cat and her dad were super close but because of her mom, the gold-digging demon, her dad was forced to move back to new york and her mom got the house in blossom hill, the parents both deciding it’d be best for cat to stay in the town considering she’d already begun to build a life. things had never been great between cat and her mom, the woman screaming obscenities at her one minute behind her dad’s back, and then stroking her hair and saying she needed to be perfect the next, yet somehow things got worse.

her secret: cat’s mom largely blamed her for the divorce and hit her for the first time after cat came home late one night after dance practice. a dance practice she had pushed cat into. it was a nasty, violent show of hatred, the older woman waking up the next morning as if nothing had ever happened, pulling her into the main bedroom to cover it with makeup. cat didn’t know what to do. despite what her mother had done she couldn’t bear to upset her, having seen her sobbing alone many a time after the divorce, the young girl feeling as if she had to take responsibility. she dealt with, and continues to deal with, physical, emotional, and verbal abuse from her mother, forgiving the woman each time, unable to wake herself up to the truth.

however, the abuse led to something else for cat. because of it, she was desperate to get out of the house more, hoping and praying for any opportunity to not be at the lovett residence. she’d been turning to her music more and more, secret notebooks now full to the brim with songs and snippets of tunes – it didn’t take her long to form a band, not too long after the abuse started, and now they’re one of the few things keeping her afloat. she’s the lead singer & guitarist, taking the whole thing very seriously, believing the group has what it takes to be big one day. she’s been sending demos off to every record label she can think of, hoping that if they catch a break, she can tell her mom and maybe she’ll be proud enough to stop hurting her. the band’s been together for two years now and they practice twice a week minimum.

cat’s also taken up muay thai in hopes of both helping her anger and, again, keeping her out of the house. she’s a v busy girl.

THE BAND, obvs. a bassist and drummer are definitely needed, then maybe a keyboard/synth player. everyone in the band plays an instrument. they’ve been together two years, but it’s possible maybe one or two members have had to leave/have switched with someone else if ur chara is new to town. there should be at least one other core member besides cat tho that’s been there since the start.

HER BOYFRIEND. cat’s linked to isla’s secret, which is that isla has slept with cat’s boyfriend more than once. whether or not these two are more of an on/off thing, or whether they were on a break when it all happened is up to you, but they’re currently together now. they likely won’t stay together since cat isn’t gonna take that shit once she finds out, so if ur worried about being locked into a ship don’t be, or if it goes well and there’s chem maybe they sort shit out, who knows ! i’m happy to go w the flow on this, i just rlly want the damn connection for drama sodmsk.

CHILDHOOD FRIENDS. either family friends or neighbours or people she generally just grew up with? they’d be the best people at dealing with her anger since they’ve handled it for years and i think she’d really appreciate them, even if she doesn’t always show it.

GYM BUDDIES. ofc she does muay thai so like, anyone that either trains with her or just goes to the gym generally to do cardio, weights, etc. she’s probably least angry when doing these things just bc she has an outlet for all of that pent-up energy, so this person probably sees a slightly calmer side to her, the hardworking side not many people notice.

Why are there not more episodes with these two working so closely together? Like please?! They got that solved so quickly and just shared information with one another and can I please just have them interact before the series ends pleaaaaaase.

Trust as a Driving Force in Detective Conan

If someone asked me what is one of the many driving forces in the DC plot as well as the cornerstone of many of the relationships in DC it would be trust. Most of the characters in DC are living their lives with lies as the foundation of who they present themselves to be.

And here is something that I love about the relationship these two have with one another:

The trust that Shinichi has on Kid was earned and vice versa.

I don't think that Shinichi thinks that Kaito Kid is the most honest person in the world, but he does know that the magician works by a code and he trusts him to not put someone in any immediate danger despite the fact that Kaito Kid does not inherently talk too deep about his heists with him.

Ask yourself this. Where in canon did it say that in Kid's heist nobody gets hurt by Kid? I've read the manga and nowhere does he really say 'this is a safe show for everybody!' Let me tell you where it says it: Nowhere.

So why do we all assume it to be that way? Because even we have trust in our favourite thief that he won't do something to actively hurt someone. Since the story is being told in Shinichi's point of view, most of the times, we can rely on the trust that Shinichi has placed on Kid to not get anyone hurt.

One big example of this would be in the Detective Conan Movie: The Sunflowers of Inferno:

Leaving Ran in Kid's care is a conscious decision he is doing despite the fact that he doesn't know if Kid is even going to make it out. Shinichi loves Ran probably more than he loves himself and he wants her out of danger enough to place trust in someone that, situation wise, has no business whether Ran or Shinichi live or not. I honestly think that even Kid was surprised that Shinichi made that decision.

Now I'm not going to put my shipper goggles when I make this statement and go 'OH MY GOD THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH IT SHOWS IT EVERYWHERE. LOOK AT THE SHOW, STUPID."

But these two have something that not many of the characters in DC have and that is a mutual trust without knowing all the details of their lives.

Kaito happened to guess that Conan was Shinichi and I doubt that Shinichi is going to meet Kuroba Kaito by the end of the series. These two barely know each other but through their interactions just happen to understand each other enough to work together amazingly when thrust into a situation where they have to help each other out.

Which brings me to the second thing I want to talk about.

My Enemy Went From Being My Rival to My Friend to my Lover, What Happens Now?

I want to break into Gosho's house and ask him to please let Kaito Kuroba meet Shinichi Kudou. Like this is such a might need that I'm almost scared of looking forward to the ending of DC because I just have a feeling it isn't going to happen.

I might also ask him why the hell every side character needs a romance subplot but that is neither here nor there.

But now that the ships have been decided and canon has sealed the final nail on everything, I just want to talk about the trope that makes Kaishin just so amazing for me.

If I am remembering my facts right, Magic Kaito came before Detective Conan. Kaito was a realized character, somewhat, and was clearly a very likable chara with a ridiculous high IQ and a secret he couldn't reveal to anybody.

I mean he's a goddamn beautiful man is what I'm trying to say.

When I first read the series I could immediately tell that Aoko was set to be the romantic interest, Gosho really ain't fooling nobody. She seemed cute, extroverted and a girl who seems to really care for Kaito. Of course there was the juicy tidbit of Kaito being the thief her father is hunting down that also kept the relationship interesting.

So I was more than okay with having these two together.

I was already a bit aware of Detective Conan so I was all for the ShinRan as well. The pining, the secrets, the care that Shinichi has for her that transcends the organizations doing!

Also fun fact: Kaito/Aoko was the basis for Shinichi/Ran! Which is why ShinRan is thematically better than Kaito/Aoko but I will not go into that.

So one sad day during quarantine, I decided to rewatch the series to see if I could get any writing inspiration.

Now I don't know if it was quarantine or a change of heart or just me growing up but Gosho's friend trope seemed boring to me the more the episodes continued on. I AM NOT THROWING THE FRIENDSHIP TROPE DOWN, IT IS BEAUTIFUL I STILL SHIP SHINRAN

But I was tired of picking vanilla and wanted to see what else was on the menu.

And as luck would have it, I had decided to watch episode 515: Kaito Kid's Teleportation Magic and fate decides to deliver me a wonderful hit to the heart:

What is it about characters pointing guns at each other that I love so much?

And Shinichi doesn't react like a normal fucking person he just goes:

He knows this man ain't gonna shoot. They have had five interactions before this (if we are going by anime episodes) and through all those interactions Shinichi managed to get to a level of banter with this guy that he hasn't had with any of his other enemies.

If he even considered Kaito Kid an enemy to begin with.

Both Kaito and Shinichi have a mutual respect for each other's skill.

They test each other out in several situations and are pleased when the other figures it out, kinda transitioning their little chases to more of a 'two really smart guys trying to outwit each other' and less of a detective trying to outsmart a thief.

Shinichi enjoys figuring out his magic and Kaito enjoys the challenge of making some of his magic tricks near impossible to figure out. Their friendship is something really special and if they can have it without even knowing the details of each other's life, imagine how strong it would be if they truly met each other face to face.

I don't really want to cross into headcanon territory that would turn them into lovers, lord knows we have more fanfiction to do so, but it is just wonderful to see these two men both living a lie respectively but finding some solace in each other that they can shut their brains off for one second and just...play.

Hell, Kid's heists might be Shinichi's safe place. In those heists he is known as the 'Kid Killer' and not just some brat who happens to figure shit out. His opinion matters in those heists.

And not just to the police, but to Kaito as well.

ONEUS:

ravn feels more of a staying-up-late-to-be-productive kind of person, whether to work on music or art, comfortably sitting on the couch in loose-fitting clothes to feel more comfortable, with neon signs as the only source of light in the room and lo-fi playing in the background. on sleepless days, 'the joy of painting' plays on the giant tv mounted on one of the walls as background noise instead @sandaigdigan (you are very diligent and you’re always working hard!!) 

seoho reminds me of a fairly sunny day, like the in-between of spring and summer. a soft breeze, uneven patches of clouds in the sky. not too hot, not too cold. and if you look hard enough somewhere in the distance, a kite is being flown! people pass by riding their bicycles down the cycling path, too! @honeyseoho and not just because of your url i swear!

i don’t know why but leedo reminds me of quiet walks on the beach, taking his time step by step, especially late in the afternoon when the sun is in the midst of setting and everything is red-orange. maybe it’s because he’s a little unreadable at first glance?  mysterious like the sea and its secrets, you know? but somewhat calming like the sound of crashing waves @nyangjo (roma this is basically me saying i want to go walk on the beach with you)

keonhee with spontaneous ideas and adventures. no set colour scheme - maybe any of the brighter colours! despite the bold colour choices, he sports simple attire. the type who would just come up to you one day and randomly say, “let’s go do karaoke today!” the kind of person who would sing his lungs out and laugh till his stomach is in knots @leed0neus (tattoo off the table, let’s just go for karaoke) 

maybe it was the k-campus video but hwanwoong reminds me of this bubble tea store near my area. pretty sure the interior was like a bubblegum pink the last time i went. everything is compact, people are busy chatting away with friends, but it's fairly quiet most days. save for the array of k-pop and j-pop that play in the background. the cheesy menu items that are like "99 problems but a peach ain't one" @iyfias (it’s the pun)

xion gives me like... randomly-deciding-to-bake-something-today at home vibes. opts for boxed cake mix (betty crocket's devil food a ha get it). the strong scent of something that smells like cocoa??? envelopes the room. chocolate powder stains on his apron, frosting somehow ending up on his face. sneaky raw batter tasting when the others aren't looking @quitehopeful (we’re somewhat recent mutuals but hello!!) 

ONEWE:

i associate yonghoon with anything that reminds me of fall for some reason. everything is a mix of brown, orange, yellow, and red. he would be wearing a very cozy-looking hand-knit sweater and give everyone he sees warm hugs, a coffee to-go in hand. going to the park with a pet dog who jumps towards a pile of leaves and the never ending sound of crunching ensues @huuanwoong hi cinn~ ngl i don’t know if you have autumn/fall where you’re from 😭)

i think of those old school scenes in movies where character A (that's harin) is outside character B's window late at night. character B looks out the window, catches a glimpse of a beautiful starry night sky, and harin leaning against the hood of his cream-coloured vintage car and blaring chara B's fave song from a radio - except... harin has his phone and a bluetooth speaker. very modernized ver. @geonhak self explanatory imo - though i don’t know if you’re a weve tho  👀

a little cliche but i think of going to bookstores and (mostly) window shopping when i think of kanghyun. the sound of music that softly blares across the store as you peruse the different sections. quietly humming or singing along to the songs that you recognize. the pit pat sounds of worn converse sneakers across the wooden-floored halls (hi @kimyovngjo~ kanghyun is an intellectual and so are you!)

dongmyeong feels like someone who likes gallery hopping. frequent contemporary art exhibit visits. his outfit choices are very reminiscent of art school students' - oversized jean jacket with the sleeves rolled up, a turtleneck sweater tucked in, culottes. taking photos of his favourite installations and pieces @highponyleedo you def. give me art student vibes tho!!

cya gives me cyberpunk city vibes. the hustle and bustle of a city that never sleeps as he skates past a crowd of people to head towards this obscure retro arcade/internet cafe place, a hidden gem of the city. meets up with friends there to play mmorpgs or fps games together. secret handshakes and convenience store slurpees (couldn’t think of anyone for this... can i tag myself? haha)

The SAVEd Project Master-Ish Post

“The SAVEd: A self proclaimed “team” of four surviving beings from scrapped, destroyed or collapsed AUs who managed to SAVE shortly before the destruction of said AU, allowing them to exist in a blank void of nothing as something similar to Outcodes. Thanks to the work of W, they were able to meet under very strange circumstances… These four more often than not go by the names ‘Beta’, ‘Ai’, ‘Mist’, and ‘W’.”

Howdy! It's me, Jpeg, and that weird description of a group that I just wrote is a rough run down of the dumbest idea for a project yet. I titled it “the SAVEd project” and if you read the description above, then it may be clear why. In this semi Masterpost (more like a concept post) I’m going to list the characters and their overall bios. If you don't care about this, then I understand. If you don't feel like reading all of it at once, I’ll link the individual posts at another given point in time.

It is also likely that the plot for the project will be written out a while before I make a black and white comic version of it so I have more time to get the character designs down and until then, feel free to ask questions if you're interested. And if youre not and you think Im a stupid wanna be, then thats fine too. I don't care.

In case it is not obvious, this is a fan project made by someone who's not the greatest with digital art since I still don't really know how to use my art program. Ai is the only truly original character of mine and was not based on anyone. Beta, Mist, and W are my takes on characters and the non existent AUs they're from belong to me, but the concept for Gaster, Chara, and Sans belong to Toby Fox. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, I'm going to go in that order too. Beta, Ai, Mist, and W. That's also the order I drew them in lol. Anyway, enjoy (sorry about the fact that this is inevitably going to be a very looooooooooooong post).

Age: 11 (Incapable of aging)

Gender: Male

Soul Type: Red (Determination) fading into Light Blue (Patience)

Physical Features: Hair covers left eye, and scar covers right. He can see through his right eye, just like Frisk can even though their eyes also appear to be closed. Baggy jumper that resembles Classic Chara’s sweater. Locket was a gift from his AUs Asriel. Always walks around barefoot, and is the shortest of the group (not shown to scale in the drawing above). Does not appear to have a mouth physically, no one has any idea how that's supposed to work or if he uses photosynthesis or not-

Personality: Mute, but very expressive otherwise. Likes defenestrating people he doesn't like and is pretty chaotic. Can be chill and a good child sometimes. Sometimes. Always wandering off.

Name: Ai

Age: 16 (Incapable of aging)

Gender: Female

Soul Type: Green (Kindness)

Physical Features: Fluffy medium length tan-ish hair and light blue-grey eyes. Where's a pure white dress and leggings and white boots. Gold star hairpiece is a solidified SAVE point.

Personality: Tries to be serious and the ‘mature adult’ of the group even though there is in fact a real adult in the group. Was kind of adopted by W. Has a very dirty sense of humor and swears a lot.

Name: Mist

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Soul Type: Purple (Perseverance) but like, monster

Physical Features: Looks like any other sans, albeit a little shorter and younger. Sewed jacket and scarf. As he was homeschooled by his very busy father (W) he had a lot of down time in between lessons. (A note about their family. Papyrus is not present in the timeline as he was sent to train with Undyne in the capital. Mist and Papyrus were adopted by W at a young age when they were abandoned by their parents, their father being W’s brother. Papyrus’ nickname is Vapor.)

Personality: Overall relaxed and very dedicated to spending every waking moment of his life doing something. He can't just not do something. Mah bois a little hyperactive. Loves creating things and reading, overall the most open minded and creative of the group. Usually the one coming up with crazy plans and sometimes they even work. Has the slightest bit of survivor's guilt.

Name: “W”.D Gaster

Age: No one really knows...

Gender: Male (He/They)

Soul Type: Gold (Justice) but like, monster

Physical Features: One cracked down the front of his face, the other painted on because he thought it’d be funny. Usually wearing a labcoat of sorts and always keeps I.D on him, even after his AU collapsed. Golden eyes represent his soul type technically speaking, just as Mist’s Purple eyes represent his.

Personality: Tries to be the serious responsible adult but just cant hack it. Will get revenge on people who have previously hurt him or his children. Dad jokes galore. Mist is constantly asking him to not embarrass him in front of his friends and W takes it as a challenge. Sciency and overall just a dad friend, but literally. Rather than the usual "OooO spoopy scary bad dad man" hes "OOOOOOOOOO I see LIGHT am I dead?" crack head energy when hes not trying to set a good example for Mist and the others.
