Coconut cream hits early with a kiss of mint. Sweet vanilla buoys the coconut cream character in the mid palate. Subtle piney hop notes and low-moderate bitterness appear late and the lingering impression is that of a blended tropical smoothie with a touch of grass. This beer is a masterclass in these coconut-forward hop varietals and the integration of real, whole vanilla beans into an IPA. Today we pulled #FunkyManhattan Barrel Aged Imperial Sour Red Ale (8.0%) w/ Maraschino Cherries out of its @sagamorespirit double oak wave stave barrel home for the past 7 months. Aged in hand selected Sagamore Spirit Double Oak Rye Whiskey barrels and blended with Maraschino Cherries, this complex and satisfying cocktail-inspired imperial sour red ale was brewed in collaboration with the fine folks at @absmontgomerycounty. We're firing up the brand new bottling line to put together just enough 500mL bottles to fill the ABS shops and our tap room for our 2nd Anniversary Release this Saturday, December 5th.
