There's no pain, there are no tears when my darkness appears. There's no heart, there's no soul, most of all there's no love. It's a golden age so filled with rage, released and disengaged.

Wig Wam - Out Of The Dark
Release Date: 10 Feb 2023
Tumblr media
Norwegian rock n' roll warriors Wig Wam released their new studio album, "Out Of The Dark" in February. It sees an already extremely talented band feeling truly reinvigorated and inspired.
Wig Wam, vocalist Glam (Åge Sten Nilsen), guitarist Teeny (Trond Holter), bassist Flash (Bernt Jansen), and drummer Sporty (Øystein Andersen), formed in Halden, Norway in 2001 and have been mixing '80s inspired glam metal with classic hard rock, with entertaining lyrics and over-the-top imagery thrown in, to create a good old fashioned rock n' roll vibe for over two decades.
In 2005, the year after the release of their debut album (first titled "667.. The Neighbour of the Beast" and later changed to "Hard To Be A Rock N' Roller"), the band had their first international breakthrough when they represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest, placing ninth with the song "In My Dreams".
The band would go on to release three more studio albums, Wig Wamania (2006), Non Stop Rock 'N Roll (2010), and Wall Street (2012) before splitting up in 2014.
The band reunited in 2019 and work on a new album, "Never Say Die" that was released in early 2021. In 2022, the band had a stroke of good fortune when film/television director James Gunn selected their 2010 song "Do Ya Wanna Taste It" (from the album Non Stop Rock 'N Roll) as the opening theme song for the HBO Max show Peacemaker starring John Cena. The show, based on a DC Comics character, showcased the band to a whole new audience who had been previously unaware of them.

Government building at the end of working hours, 1962
Gro Harlem Brundtland and AUF leader Jens Stoltenberg on Utøya, 1987
Utøya and Oslo July 2011
On this day it is 10 years since the 22 july attack. On July 22, 2011, a far-right terrorist detonated a car bomb in the government quarter in Oslo, before driving to the Labor Party's summer camp for young people on the island of Utøya. 8 people died in the bombing, the massacre on Utøya lasted 66 minutes and 69 people, mainly teenagers, were killed.
The perpetrator was motivated especially by the racist Eurabia conspiracy theory and hatred for the Labor Party, Muslims, immigrants, feminism and social democratic Norway in general.
While the terrorist was motivated by hate, the civilian efforts to help the victims was impressive. In the government quarter people helped each other. On Utøya, as the kids tried to hide or swim off the island, despite the fact that the perpetrator was shooting, civilians in boats went out to pick them up.
Today we take a moment to remember the victims of this attack and all victims of hate crimes and political violence, rest in peace:

Exactly 8 years ago, on July 22, 2011, two cooperative terrorist acts took place in Norway. The first attack was carried out by a bomb in the center of Oslo, 8 people were killed as a result of an explosion, and at least 209 people were injured, 12 seriously. A few hours later, a terrorist landed on the island of Utoya, there was a summer youth camp on it, and on that day hundreds of children were on the island. An armed mentally ill man opened fire on children, adolescents and adults. As a result, 69 people died and 110 were injured. 77 people died in this terrible, crazy tragic event. 77 smiles, dreams and aspirations are gone. Hundreds of people received the hardest injuries that they are fighting to this day, with physical and moral. Someone has learned to live again and someone will never be able to return to their former life. Because of the psychopath who thought that killing for a "good" purpose is right. Not. I want you to look at these faces and read their names, study their stories and remember. They deserve it.

Wig Wam - Never Say Die - Review
Gerade mein Favorit “Where Does It Hurt” rotzt richtig frech aus den Boxen. Call Of The Wild atmet tiefe 80er Luft der Quiet Riot Machart.
