Imma try and do a bit of both, with a previously unknown tidbit and an out of context line 😉

I am still going back and forth with it, but rn I think that Elyana is going to kill her brother. Tristan has always been an abusive prick with her, but when Alyse falls pregnant he somehow finds out that Aemond isn't the father - this leads to a fight between the siblings that escalates when he makes threats against Alyse and "her bastard". I am not yet sure if I want it to be like an "ah, just another day in the Red Keep 🤷🏻‍♀️" kinda thing or if I can somehow spin it into the reason her and Criston decide to run away 🧐

"Then have me," she sighed between kisses, her grip on his shoulders tightening when he drew away to look at her with wide eyes.

"Come tomorrow you might owe them celibacy, but you don't owe them your innocence. I want to be yours, even if it's just for this night..."

what's elyana's relationship with her family like

Elyana's relationship with her family ranges from loving to terrible depending on the family member 😄

She loves her mother - Ilarya Dondarrion, nee Dayne - very much. The two have a lot in common, not only in regards to their appearance, Elyana also gets her kindness and lively nature from her mother. Her mother left Dorne to marry a Westerosi man for love, so she is definitively Elyana's role model when it comes to wanting to be true to her heart.

Elyana also loves her father, Halfdan Dondarrion (name very much up for discussion, I suck at those ^^), but her childish adoration for him takes a bit of a hit when he sends her away to King's Landing at her brother's behest.

Elyana's feelings for her older brother Tristan Dondarrion (FC Ben Barnes) are not only complicated, they border on downright hatred. He is the reason that Elyana is sent to King's Landing (because he doesn't want to risk her being "ruined" by a stewart's boy). He treats her quite terrible and a lot of it is probably rooted in internalised racism towards his Dornish heritage, which is a lot more prominent in his sister's appearance (he likes to remind her that Westerosi men probably think of their favourite exotic whores whenever they look at her) and thus a constant reminder even when he looks more like their father and is "Westerosi passing". It probably doesn't help that he's very handsome and thus gets away with a lot. Tristan is also very ambitious and feels like he deserves more than to be the heir of a mere second born. This doesn't end with himself, he is also borderline obsessed with making a prestigious match for his sister - and her infatuation with a lowborn doesn't go well with his plans at all. When he learns that Elyana slept with Criston prior to him being sworn into the Kingsguard and taking his vows, he even loses his temper and hits her.

In short, fuck him.

Also, what does criston think of Elyana’s daughters? Does he resent them at all? And you said he was friends with her brother, so if he finds out about him keeping his letters from Elyana, what does he think of that?

Criston being appointed Kingsguard pretty much feels like the end of the world. For years all they wanted was to marry each other and start a family (but with the blessing of her family, which was the whole reason he fought his way into knighthood).

But you don't just tell the crown princess no (and doesn’t that come around again down the road?) and so there isn't much either of them can do about it.

That doesn't mean Elyana does not try and confront Rhaenyra about it. But it's not like Rhaenyra can go back on her decision. She deliberately picked the person who she knew would piss Otto Hightower off the most and if she goes back on that decision that means admitting partial defeat to him and she would rather lose a friendship than show this kind of weakness.

Of course Rhaenyra promises things like "when I am queen I get to make the rules, I can make it so that the Kingsguard doesn't have to live celibate anymore or I can release him with all sorts of honours and then the two of you can be together" but the fact of the matter stands, Elyana and Criston cannot be together for the time being, because the only thing that they are both certain about in this moment is that Criston will honour his oath (well... T_T).

But on the evening before he is supposed to get his white cloak Elyana and Criston meet and grief for the plans they made and the future that has been forced from them and Elyana asks him to come to her chambers that night. "Come tomorrow you owe them celibacy, but you don't owe them innocence." And this one night is all they will have for a very long time.

Criston cares deeply for Alyse and Catelyn in that he cherishes them as a part of Elyana. It's a complicated mix of feelings, because no, he doesn't resent them at all, but they are still testament of the life Elyana has built without him, so there is always a sense of regret and "you should have been mine" when he looks at them.

Criston and Tristan used to be friends growing up, but started growing apart when Tristan sent Elyana to live at court, because he feared she would be "ruined" by a lowborn stewart's son. Between Tristan's overall vile character and Criston's anger management issues, I don't think the confrontation over those letters will be a peaceful one.

(I am also lowkey pondering to have the catalyst for their running away at the end be the murder of Tristan Dondarrion 🤫)
