ꪆৎ the secretary ..

Trip Murphy didn’t care much for office work.
Sure, he liked power. He liked control. But the trivial crap—meetings, interviews, sponsorship negotiations, the endless scheduling—wasn’t where his focus should be. That’s why he’d asked the company to get him a secretary, or a personal assistant, or whatever the hell they wanted to call it. Someone to handle the bullshit so he could focus on the things that actually mattered—racing, winning, and looking damn good while doing it.
And they worked fast. Too fast.
Barely two days after his request, he was standing in his office, hands stuffed into the pockets of his designer jeans, gaze fixed lazily out the window when there was a knock at the door.
“Come in,” he muttered, not even bothering to turn around.
One of the staff boys stepped in—a kid in his mid-20s, someone he’d seen running around the place a couple of times, always about to be late.
"The boss got you that personal assistant you asked for," the guy announced, voice just a little strained.
Trip finally turned his head, sharp gaze catching something that made him pause. A problem. A very visible, very inappropriate problem.
Trip’s eyes flickered down, catching the slight bulge straining in the guy’s pants, and suddenly, all judgment was there.
Seriously? What, hasn't he ever seen a woman before?
But before he could call him out, the guy subtly cleared his throat, shifting slightly like he was trying to hide it. "let the woman in" he spoke with a dismissive wave of his hand.
"Uh—" a pause, hesitant, "A girl, sir. It’s a girl."
Trip’s brows lifted slightly.
A girl?
Before he could ask what the hell that meant, the guy turned back toward the door, opening it with a practiced politeness.
And that's when he understood.
All at once, his breath hitched, his judgment vanished, and every single ounce of restraint he had turned razor-thin.
A doll. A fucking doll. That's what you were.
They gave him a bimbo doll.
The first thing he noticed? How young you were. No older than twenty—hell, probably barely even that. Nineteen, tops. And you looked it, too. Soft. Sweet. Like something that shouldn’t be anywhere near a man like him.
Then came the rest.
Shit.
Milky pale skin. Dark brunette waves, neatly styled. Big, doe, innocent eyes framed with thick lashes. And those lips—plump, sticky, glossy to the point that it looked almost wrong, like something else had coated them.
And then it was your body.
Short denim skirt—too damn short—frilly at the edges, swaying slightly when you walked. High brown semi-transparent tights clinging to your legs. White heels, tall enough to give you extra height but not enough to take away the way you had to tilt your chin up to look at him.
And the shirt—dear fucking god, the shirt.
Skin-tight, white, so damn close to transparent, that shiny silver belt sinching it all together.
Curvy. Toned. Feminine in a way that looked borderline illegal.
And the boobs. Jesus. His mouth wanted to go dry. His hands wanted to fist.
No wonder the poor bastard before him was walking around with a damn problem.
And you—you didn’t even notice.
No awareness. No tease. No purposeful temptation. Just sweetness.
A bubbly smile, eyes practically sparkling when you looked at him, at him, as if he were someone worth admiring.
"Hi!" you chirped, stepping forward with a delicate grace, manicured hand reaching out. "I’ll be your new personal assistant—always here for whatever you need!"
Trip’s fingers twitched before he reached out, engulfing your tiny hand in his much larger one.
Soft. Warm. A little fragile.
Shit.
Then you giggled, a soft little sound, tilting your head slightly.
"You know, I’ve been a big fan of you ever since I learned to walk! It’s such an honor to be working for you!"
Well. 𝑭𝒖𝒄𝒌.
Trip Murphy prided himself on having self-control. But for the first time in a long, long time—
He felt it break.

So
I'm not from the US. So I didn't read/saw The Outsiders in the 7th grade, not until I was grown (2022-ish). I read the book first, then saw the movie (and eventually I heard the musical when it came out)
So I'm watching the movie, and Dallas Winston/Matt Dillon shows up, and ALL I could think was: IS THAT TRIP MURPHY FROM HERBIE FULLY LOADED?! (that movie RAISED me okay?!) That man has always been and always will be Trip Murphy in my mind
I just wanted to share bc I don't see many people talk about that like..... Am I the only one who watching that movie religiously throughout my childhood???

Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)
Tumblr media
Herbie: Fully Loaded is not a great film, but those looking for nice, clean fun for the kids won’t be disappointed.
Maggie Peyton (Lindsay Lohan) is an aspiring racer celebrating her graduation from college. Her father (Michael Keyton) offers her an old Volkswagen Beetle as a gift, having no idea "Herbie" has a mind of its own.
The film has many problems. There are some bad jokes and an unnecessary love plot that could have easily been dropped (despite Lohan and Justin Long having decent chemistry). More than individual moments, there's not much about it that's remarkable or memorable. Nevertheless, I find myself giving it a mild recommendation. Why? Because the film has modest aspirations and it achieves them. This is a movie about a young woman who races around in a sentient car in order to defeat her rival, the professional jerk/racer Trip Murphy (Matt Dillon). There are nice moments where Maggie proves she’s just as capable as any male racer (they point out several times throughout that a woman has never been a NASCAR champion). Little girls - the target audience - will find a positive message there. I’d say even somewhat of a role model. Michael Keaton has some nice moments with Lohan, which could bring the whole family together on the couch while watching.
Matt Dillon as the villain is fun because he's such a jerk. You know he can’t be up to any good as soon as you see him with his racing gear - he’s got a whole bunch of Cheetos Cheetahs plastered all over his chest. It’s the only animal you can't trust, which is a funny, subtle little gag. There is also some joy in the bonding that happens between Maggie and Herbie, along with some decent racing.
Do I recommend Herbie: Fully Loaded? To a certain extent. It’s inoffensive, decently entertaining for what it is, and manages to stay afloat thanks to the charisma of its leads. It’s also predictable, and strictly for families, children, and young teenage girls. Every effort has been made to make the film inoffensive. They even digitally reduced miss Lohan’s cleavage to prevent the kids from feeling something Disney wouldn't want them to. It’s a rental, the kind of movie you go into with low expectations that manages to pleasantly surprise you once in a while and can enjoy with the rest of the family. (Full-screen version on DVD, September 25, 2015)
