(2)Home, Land and Sea:
“We use roots as a vehicle or medium to convey emotion. We combine lyrical message with primal rhythms. We are organic in our music and spiritual in the way we play it.- Warren Maxwell, TrinityRoots” Home, Land and Sea is the second album from Trinity Roots and it's roots and reggae of the purest kind. Steeped in mystique, flavored with jazz and infused with soul, there is a sense of timelessness and space present on this album. There is no rush. There are no radio edits. Everything has its place, ebbing and flowing accordingly. From the opening track Aotearoa, "a heartfelt and spiritual ode to our Motherland", TrinityRoots delve deep into the magical soil of this country, and the album is interwoven with soundbites from friends and whanau.
The song’s opening line, “From the tail of the fish to the top” references the Maori creation myth; that Aotearoa New Zealand was fished from the sea by the god Maui. The South Island is his waka (canoe) while the North Island is the fish itself.
(3)Little things:
In an interview with Warren Maxwell (lead vocals/guitar) and Rio Hemopo (backing vocals/bass) for "Anatomy Of A Song" they share that this song is about being in a good state after realizing something important. Like the fact that people tend to allow small things - would it be something in a relationship or a 12 dollar parking ticket - turn into a big monster.
<4> Resources Research:
Useful Animation Skills from the video of Saul Bass- Style is Substance:
“Bass once said that the audience’s involvement in the film should begin at the very first frame. He believed title sequences were responsible for setting the mental and emotional tone for the story that was about to be told. As Saladino rightly points out, Bass knew how to leverage simplicity—primary colors, basic shapes, playful animations—to create what was ultimately perceived as complex emotions. ”
The combination of extreme close set-ups, the fast editing, the sound, they all lead you to believe that you are seeing something that you're actually not.
1. play with primary colors, especially red
2.do less for more; remain simplicity and also be effective:
Simple but interesting actions of the characters
Implying the murder scene by switching between shots
From Viva Dada!:
The transition between different scenes is very smooth and interesting. Through the transformation of the shape, the elements changing from less to more or from more to less...
