thinking a lot about the way trina says “well my husband divorced his wife last weekend” (in marvins final words from how america was discovered) and it makes me CRAZY

shes sooo. trina i love u. yes your husband divorced his wife. he divorced You. what an interesting way to say that?,,??? im really a huge fan. it rlly speaks to her mindset i feel. an out of body experience . to find out your husband is gay, cheating on you, and divorcing you. yk?????? no wonder shes out of it. he divorced his wife, which is her. but also not her. i feel like saying “his wife” instead of “me” is a way for her to escape the situation. and a way to let go.

but also is this even the real trina in this song. or is this marvin’s trina and this is HIS WAY of escaping. what a fun musical

I absolutely adore falsettos as a show for many reasons but the actual music is really what gets me. The instrumentals, musical motifs for characters, the melodies that are NEVER boring and most of all the harmonies???? Oh i’m insane, william finn you are a genius
