TRESOR BERLIN
I think I'll start logging the various clubs that I have either been to and adored, or clubs that I really want to visit in the future.
I don't know if I'll be able to return to Berlin in the next few years or not, but I'm very happy to say that I went to Tresor more than once. The location is unforgettable and the atmosphere is pure adrenaline.

Heyy may I ask which documentaries on various club scenes you've been watching? Really interested in the topic :)
Hey, for sure! I'll link them all. Some of these are about clubbing, and some are more about electronic music, but understanding electronic music is essential for understanding clubbing. So I'm like really obsessed with the Hacienda, which was this big Manchester nightclub in the 80s during the Madchester era, acid house boom. You got this BBC documentary (The Hacienda - The Club that Shook Britain) and also a 1990 doc on Madchester that's a nice little introduction. One of my favourite youtube channels is Trash Theory, they did a great video on Madchester and also New Order's Blue Monday, which is relevant bc New Order basically financed the club so maybe that'll interest you as well. There's also Peter Hook's book about it that I actually still haven't read but it's next up on my to read list. I would also recommend the movie 24 Hour Party People from 2002 that I really love. I'm linking everything I've seen, some acid house, raving, disco, house, techno etc. docs, video essays, other videos and so on. I think a good start, and then from here you'll find more stuff :)
Everybody In The Place: An Incomplete History Of Britain 1984-1992 by Jeremy Deller
The Chemical Generation
Acid House 1988
The Summer Of Rave 1989
Trailblazers: Acid House
Dance Britannia - Acid House
BBC Everyman - E is for Ecstasy - Rave Documentary 1992
The Rave Years - With Keith Flint & Richard Russell
I Was There When House Took Over the World
How House Music Was Born
Pump up the volume: A history of House music
Maestro Documentary - The History of the Paradise Garage
What is House? An Insider's Look at Dance Music - 1991
The Story of When House Music Went Global
When Disco Ruled the World BBC
When Disco Ruled the World VH1
Modulations - Cinema for the Ear
Better Days: The Story of UK Rave
Synth Britannia
We call it techno! A documentary about Germany’s early Techno scene and culture
Sound of Berlin Documentary
Sub Berlin - The Story of Tresor
And then there's also a bunch of real footage you can find on youtube by just typing 80s clubbing or sth like that and it's just so fun.

RYDER’s INVOLVEMENT
Garnet and Ryder are old chooms. They've known each other since Ryder attended one of his first underground raves Night City had to offer: an event at Maelstrom’s Totentanz where he met Falco in the crowd and came into a chatter that resulted into a deep friendship.
Both young men noticed fast, that NUSA techno(ise) differs very much from the one in their home country Germany. So instead of complaining about how bad NUSA raves were, they sat down and developed Garnet’s idea together: the concept of HELL BUNKER and the birth of Chrome Chamber Rave. Garnet may be the founder of it all and came around with the concept but without Ryder’s help he wouldn’t have been able to put everything into action. Ryder had different connections in the city that would help them find a place and where to get helping hands for actually creating Garnet’s vision. Ryder has an eye for neat design and together with Garnet’s business know-how they started the project. Garnet also suggested Ryder to be co-owner, but Ryder declined as he has too much work to do already as a merc but he will become co-owner later when he can finally put his merc job aside after a last great mission. Nonetheless Ryder continued to help Falco to get CCR known in Night City by creating flyers and posting on his socials until it grew quite known already by 2075. Ryder also used to work as a bouncer in the beginning as well and still offers to do it when the club appears to be understaffed. In return he doesn’t have to pay for entering and friends of his always get in for free as well.
To give you a better imagination of what HELL BUNKER might look like, here are two 3-min videos of the Berliner Techno Club 'TRESOR' in its previous¹ and newest form², that shows how Garnet's location might look like – at least the base of it.
youtube
youtube
I can recommend watching this over an hour documentation if your are interested), This is literally the underground bunker style I imagine for Garnet's club. —
¹ First video is from the old club that got deconstructed in 2005. It has a long history together with techno subculture after the Berlin wall fell. This is literally the underground bunker style I imagine for Garnet's club. ² The second video seems to be of its current location, a big hall and/or rooms within a heat and power plant, that shows a part of it used in the underground for some parties.
#chrome chamber rave#about: chrome chamber rave#about: ryder von scharfenberg#Cyberpunk 2078 – Pandemonium#cyberpunk 2077#cyberpunk#lore#rave#technoise#I should have added the vidoes to the first post but I didn't had this on mind so the videos are now here#These are times I wish I had been born earlier - would have loved to be in the original Tresor#bc hearing people talk about it from the experiences inthe past it realyl is that what I had on mind for Garnet#I guess Garnet heard the story too had a dream and fulfilled himself that one by opening Hell Bunker

Liveblog 5: many words much analysis
His favorite parenting technique: Bullshitting
Yet again, we have the tenets of Lou theorizing reiterated here by Kerubim and Simone, as well as this flashback:
She left sad, and unlike many other times, without any anger for Kerubim.
She left Luis with him to watch over him.
She also left Luis because he couldn't go with her, but that could mean many things.
She left after Ecaflip City, obviously, and at that time, their relationship seemed the healthiest. (Well, as healthy as it could be.)
Unlike all the other times, Kerubim didn't go searching for her. It seems this separation was final in a way no other was, and there had to be a reason that he didn't go and try to make up. An unsolvable issue.
Both Luis and Kerubim blame Kerubim, and the first one uses this to make the second one angry.
Adieu, translated here as Farewell, is a word used for when you never expect to see one another ever again.
And sure, Luis really hated that. To the point of not allowing anyone to clean him ever again.
And yet...
That's what I thought you'd say, you lying asshole. In this liveblog, so far, I had taken a stance against referencing future episodes, but I feel the need to pinpoint this now:
Aux Tresors De Kerubim is a show that will lie, cheat, and deceive you. A show that is incredibly transparent about being at least a little bit, but an in-universe fiction.
Kerubim Crepin is a man who has mastered the art of not really lying, but, more-so, fudging the situation. Usually for the better.
And, as seen from this screenshot of the shop as it was two years before Joris was born, sometimes, for the worse.
Kerubim had many ways to solve his situation — convince Luis to let him clean once in a while via the use of psychic warfare, find a different house, or clean while Luis was sleeping, which Luis canonically does, like Kerubim will later do, after Simone is gone, because unlike her, he's not good at not pissing Luis off.
Or, perhaps, he could have continued doing whatever maintenance he was doing, during the time Atcham showed up and tried to boil him in a sauna. Because back then, Luis was allowing him to clean the house. Just food for thought!
Even Luis doesn't really like the situation they're in.
So, letting himself and their home go, never trying to get them out of this situation, — are both his active failings as a parent, not something he passively went through.
There is absolutely no excusing the way he raised Joris.
So yeah. I will just have to make these two into soup.
The thing is, his lying doesn't come from malice at all.
Kerubim hates disappointing people or appearing weak, because, as we'll see, from his personal experience, relationships just don't end well if you present your authentic self without thinking, or just don't lie well enough. He will keep lying in even the most dire circumstances, because not being good enough is the worst sin he could partake in.
He doesn't really have a self-esteem, or a way to like himself, without outside validation, because of the sheer brainrotting trauma of his childhood and his relationship with Ecaflip. And it just so happens, that being a parent is having a little validation machine running around... As long as the child believes he is competent and an indisputable authority, that is.
Which Joris will, one day, realize, just isn't true.
(hint: before the end of Aux Tresors, but fully set in stone in the movie.)
.......yeah to end it on a funnier note, i really do think Kerubim Crepin shouldn't have been at the club.
he should have been getting therapy. he should have been doing inner child healing. he should have been researching coping mechanisms for cluster b personality disorders, of which he has 2. Imagine having a kid instead of therapy.
Choosing beggar Keke!
If they ever make a second Dofus movie via crowdfunding, I will enshrimpify myself. I think she would destroy Bakara's cringe teenager self. I think Bakara would be jealous of her and Joris's aunt-nephew relationship.
...Yeah I love Bakara and Simone a lot. How could you tell?
Some canonical info on Luis's cleaning protocols.
When Kerubim thinks things are going bad, it's "It'll be ok! Don't worry! We can make it!" When Kerubim is suffering through it, it's "I don't know. Don't ask me. I don't know. Probably. Not a good situation." But when Kerubim truly loses all hope, it's "THIS IS ALL MY FAULT, AND I FAILED YOU, AND I'M AWFUL, AND I'M NOTHING, and it's OVER, and we are going to DIE."
A very helpful thing to keep in mind, to see how distraught he is during various events.
He's good at putting on a casual front while under stress, but it means that when he cracks, his fears burst out like an ocean and take him out of the commission entirely.
It's both a character flaw, and a strength of his, allowing him to not lose hope even at the worst times / help others not feel as distraught. We will see this in some significant, albeit very subtle, portrayals of his character in the Wakfu OVA, as well as the ease with which he takes control of dangerous situations.
Him being insecure and a liar never really changes, but he really does do it all out of love.
One of the most significant lines of this show. It appears both in the second episode, and second-to last episode, expressing one of the main themes of the show: the uneven, often clumsy and painful, nature of love and family. From a chance meeting that doesn't go the best, like here, to, well... the way it's used later the second time.
Kerubim's musings on items in this scene introduce the other theme: Stagnation, progress, and memory. In his opinion, it is only natural for artefacts to pass through different hands, instead of being locked up in a vault. Yet, Kerubim himself is stuck in this shop, collecting dust, being a subpar parent to his son, and never moving on from a multitude of painful break-ups that happened decades ago.
Joris's recitation of his words introduces his, for now, unwavering belief in his papycha. Which makes Kerubim's insecure self feel very giddy and loved.
Then, Simone kicking them out promptly introduces the theme of her being literally the best.
It must feel nice for Joris to see their home look good for the first time in his life. As sad as it is, I am very happy for him. The way he begins running around the house, looking at everything, while Kerubim is walking around in a literal daze, is just so adorable. Makes me even forget I want to make his dad into soup, for a little bit.
This brings us to a close with episode 2. Here's to more insane posts to come.

@lightcaughtinaprism fragt mal
"Ich würde gerne mal nach Berlin wegen der Clubszene, weil hier bei mir nix abgeht und mich das Raver etwas bestürzt. Aber vor allem wollte ich nach Berlin wegen des Studiums, da Berlin viel mehr Angebote hat als mein Umkreis hier. [...] Was ich bisher gehört hab waren Wilde Renate, Tresor, Sisyphos, About Blank und KitKat. Suche aber eher nach was, was nicht alle so unbedingt kennen und wo die Türpolitik nicht so streng ist und man immer schwarz oder Fetischklamotten tragen muss."
Könnt ihr da vielleicht ein bisschen weiterhelfen?
Also Clubs die Techno und Trance musik haben, oder sonst generell irgendwelche Clubs die vielleicht nicht ganz so bekannt sind?
Ich kenne mich da leider überhaupt nicht aus

1990s German Techno Playlist (YouTube)
Started putting together a small playlist of some of my personal 90s German techno favorites for you all to enjoy for this week 😎. It's not definitive by any means, but with this first iteration, I think this thing still presents a pretty nice range of different types of techno, from the deep and rumbling, hypnotic basement kind to the main-room-of-the-club floor-stomping kind 😤. And despite the fact that most of these selections come from a small handful of Germany's most well-established dance and techno labels—Harthouse, Tresor, and the qualitative-over-quantitative Chain Reaction—I'd say that, given the YouTube play counts for a lot of these tracks, that most of them are a tad bit obscure too 👍.
Ich und meine buddies vibing to ze German 90s tekno
But while almost all of these tunes are by German acts that were released by German labels, the track that we happen to kick off with here, an eleven-plus minute piece of acid-drenched sci-fi psychosis from 1993 called "Blanche," by a short-lived duo from Mainz who called themselves Purple Plejade, is not from a German label at all, but is instead from a Dutch label called Djax-Up-Beats. Purple Plejade was made up of a couple notable German techno names in Holger Wick and Thomas P. Heckmann, but the two of them together only put out a couple of 12-inches, and "Blanche" was their first. Now, there's a scratchy ten-minute version of this song that's already on YouTube, that I think was uploaded back when the maximum length of your video could only be ten minutes, and that thing has over 41,000 plays on it. But this *full,* extra-minute-plus affair, as Gott originally intended it to be heard, only has under 11,000 plays across a bunch of different YouTube uploads, by comparison.
Now let's talk about a couple other favorites on here: one floor-stomper and one that's headily sublime. The floor-stomper comes courtesy of Bad Nauheim's Patrick Lindsey, who in 1996 released a 12-inch called The Phat Jive on Harthouse. And the title track on that release is what you get when you pair some melody that's reminiscent of a theme song from one of those syndicated reality court shows that airs on TV in the afternoons with some snaky, beeping synths and smacking four-on-the-floor percussion to then overwhelm it. A unique fucking banger that's sitting at over 1,300 plays.
And for that headily sublime one, which closes us out, we have a tune from Berlin's DisX3, aka Alexander Kowalski, who in 1999 put out a 12-inch on Tresor called Sequenzed_Function E.P., which kicked off its b-side with "Bored Meat." This stunner's loaded up with a fuck-ton of Richter scale-registering drums to form its rhythmic foundation, but where it really kills is with its weakly plonking, contrastingly high-pitched synth melody that gets placed atop of it all, while including a bunch of jingling hi-hats too. Basically, if you really love yourself some techno music, this is a track that should simply pierce your mechanically-made soul 🤤. And it's only been listened to less than ten thousand times on YouTube!
This playlist is ordered as chronologically as possible:
Purple Plejade - "Blanche" Patrick Lindsey - "Prepare to Jam" Patrick Lindsey - "The Phat Jive" Porter Ricks - "Port of Transition" Alter Ego vs. David Holmes - "The Evil Needle" Pacou - "T.4" Continuous Mode - "Direct Drive Mode 1" DisX3 - "The Wide Theatre" DisX3 - "Bored Meat"
And this playlist is also on YouTube Music.
So with the introduction of this playlist, we start out with a total of ten songs that run for 68 minutes. Altogether, a good and eclectic clip of stuff here to get us started that's not very well known.
And next week we'll be staying put in Germany, but we'll be getting into some much chillier stuff! 🥶
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!

Now Playing | The Club That Reunited Berlin (Resident Advisor)
Tresor: A Story Of Survival [RA]
"And by chance, a friend told me about this space, an old power plant in East Berlin. I came in and, pffttt... I was shocked, I was scared, I came up the stairs, there were no gutters, nothing, it was dangerous, it was really dark and cold. But somehow I said wow... the walls started talking to me... This space has so much potential."
As the wall fell and Berlin became one, something special was happening underground. Built on the foundations of human connection and now 32 years after its conception in 1991, Tresor remains one of the most important techno institutions on the planet.
Join Dimitri Hegeman in conversation with Resident Advisor and discover how dancing dissolved the final degree of separation in the Techno capital.

Hinter Gravelotte kommt “Game Land”. Hier reiht sich eine Wildfarm an Wildfarm. Game Huntig, Game Breeding, Game Reserve, Game Safaris usw. usw.
Lekker Slaap!
Angie, Micha und der Hasenbär

Journal Entry: 06.20.03
Berlin, Germany
I can't believe I'm finally here. The flight from Miami was long, but the excitement kept me awake. I landed in Berlin this morning, and the city already feels like a different world. The air is crisp, and there's an electric vibe that I can't quite put into words.
Tobias, the guy I've been chatting with on the music message board, met me at the airport. He's even cooler in person. We clicked right away, talking about our favorite tracks and the latest in the underground minimal techno scene. He's been super hospitable, showing me around and making sure I feel at home.
We dropped my stuff off at his place, a cozy apartment in Kreuzberg. It's got this artsy, bohemian feel to it, with posters of old techno gigs and vinyl records scattered around. Tobias has a killer setup with his turntables and synthesizers. I can't wait to start making music together. And for myself.
Tonight, we're hitting up Tresor, the legendary club. I've heard so much about it, and I can't wait to experience it firsthand. Tobias says it's the place to be if you're into minimal techno. We're also planning to check out Club der Visionaere and Watergate later this week. The scene here is insane.
I brought my Minidisc and Akai MPC 2000 with me. Tobias is stoked to see what I can create solo. We're already brainstorming ideas for tracks and planning to record some sessions. This trip is going to be epic.

🌃✨ Berlin Nightlife: Where the Party Never Ends ✨🌃
Berlin isn't just a city—it’s an experience, especially when it comes to nightlife. If you're a night owl or a music lover, this is the place where your party dreams come alive! 🕺🎧
🔊 Why Berlin’s Nightlife is Legendary:
Techno Heaven 🎶 – Berlin is the techno capital of the world. Iconic clubs like Berghain and Tresor are more than just venues; they’re temples for electronic music lovers. The beats are hypnotic, the vibes are intense, and the party goes on until the break of dawn (or later!). 🔥🔊
Eclectic Club Scene 🏙️ – From underground raves in abandoned warehouses to sleek, upscale bars in Mitte, there’s something for every taste. Neighborhoods like Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, and Neukölln are hotspots for late-night (or early morning) adventures. 🌃🍻
Freedom to Express 🖤 – In Berlin, the nightlife is a canvas for self-expression. Dress however you want, dance like no one’s watching, and connect with people from all around the world. The open-minded, diverse crowd makes the experience even more unforgettable. 🌈🕺
Berlin Clubbing Essentials
Be Ready for Long Nights – Berlin clubs are known for their marathon parties. Many places open Friday night and stay buzzing until Monday morning. 🎉🌙
Cash is King – Some clubs are cash-only, so don’t forget to bring enough Euros. 💶
Know the Dress Code – Some places prefer an all-black look or have a “come as you are” vibe. Either way, confidence is key! 😎🖤
If you’re planning a night out, don’t miss the local techno scene, and make sure to keep up with the city’s underground events. Berlin nightlife isn’t just about going out—it’s about diving deep into the city’s heartbeat. 🖤✨
