Double surprise
pairing: Lando Norris x reader
summary: Lando wants to surprise you, but in the end you surprise him too.
Tumblr media
Lando could tell Max was already planning to bang his head against the coffee table, but it honestly wasn't his fault. Maybe he was terrible at making decisions at the moment, yes, so what? It's not like he had anywhere to rush at this time, and if he was a true friend, he would stay to provide emotional support.
Because Lando was preparing for something big, and the first step was asking a jewelry store employee to jump in the hotel he was staying in with a bunch of engagement rings. If he showed up in the store himself, social media would be full of pictures within a matter of minutes. He didn't want to ruin the surprise. And it was also much more comfortable this way.
“Lando, just pick the third one. You said it yourself, that's her style,” Max tried.
With a thoughtful hum, the Brit picked up the said piece and took a better look at it. “Yeah, it's true, but,” he began, then came to a halt as he grabbed the last one the jeweler showed him. “I don’t know, the first one is a classic, but what if she prefers something modern and trendy?”
The jeweler watched him in silence, the patience of a saint radiating from his smile. He had been there for two hours now, it was already nine in the evening, but he not once made a comment about still being there. “Which one is closer to what she usually wears?” he asked softly, trying to guide him towards a decision.
Lando thought for a moment. “The classic one,” he replied while he took a closer look at it again.
One big, round white diamond with two smaller stones on its side, completed by a yellow gold band. It was clean. Nice. Something simply elegant for her. But then he glanced over at the other one and saw the curved white gold band with a big, pear shaped yellow diamond, and a voice in his head told him that was the one. People would go insane over it when you shared it on social media.
He looked up at the jeweler with a thankful smile, then turned to Max. “All right, I'm buying both. She'll get the trendy one, but if she doesn't like it, all I'll have to do is pull out the classic option. She can even wear whichever she prefers depending on the day,” he explained his master plan.
Max let out a sigh of relief and mouthed ‘finally’ under his breath, while the jeweler clapped his hands together and closed the box with the rest of the rings. Meanwhile Lando had a huge grin on his face, clearly satisfied with his decision. He solved the problem. Sure, it took two hours, but he wanted to pick the perfect ring for you.
Since he specifically asked for rings already available in your size–which he only knew because he stole one you wore on that finger–he kept the chosen ones and said goodbye to the jeweler after paying for the items. Once they were left alone, Max picked up the rings and took a closer look at them, carefully examining every centimeter, every curve, and every stone. As if he was waiting for approval, Lando raised an eyebrow at him.
“Good choice if you ask me. Seeing her disappointed in your taste wouldn't make you feel good, even if she said yes,” Max said with a short laugh before putting down the jewels.
Rolling his eyes, Lando stretched his arms above his head and fought back a yawn. Media day always took a lot out of him and today wasn't any different. Add the stress of making the right decision and he felt like a truck had hit him. “Thanks, mate,” he told his friend.
“When will you ask her?”
“She arrives tomorrow, so I guess I'll get it over with as soon as I can. I need an extra boost for qualifying,” he added with a laugh.
Max gave him a ‘good luck out-qualifying me’ look, but Lando was too hyped to notice. So he let out a sigh and decided to voice his only concern. “So you want to get this over with? Sounds romantic.”
“You know what I mean,” Lando said defensively, giving him a disappointed look that was mixed with the hurt feeling because he dared to joke about him not being serious enough about it.
“Well, tell me how it went.” Max patted his friend on the shoulder before standing up, then watched him with a small smile. “But I'm proud of you. She's nice and has a good influence on you… You chose wisely.”
“Thanks. See you tomorrow at the track?”
Max nodded, then he raised his hand to wave him goodbye and left the hotel room. This left Lando alone with his thoughts, and he began to wonder if he would succeed. The two of you had been going through a bit of a rough patch lately, and he told you this trip was all about fixing that. You would join him for the race weekend, then you would stay in the area for a little trip, just the two of you, away from curious eyes.
His mother told him this plan of his might backfire, because you weren't entirely pleased with him right now, and who knew, maybe you would consider this a way to force you to stay in this relationship. He obviously didn't want you to feel that way, but he didn't want you to leave him either.
His phone buzzed next to him, and when he took a look at it, a wide smile grew on his face. “Hello, beautiful,” he answered happily.
“Hey, you have a moment?” you asked him hesitantly.
“For you? Always.”
There was a short pause, he could hear the traffic in the background, but before he could ask you where you were, you took a deep breath and began to talk. “So I said I'm gonna arrive tomorrow, but I won't.”
Lando felt like he was stabbed in the heart, like the air had been knocked out of his lungs. “What do you mean you won't? You promised to come here, you can't just back out of it! Unless it's a family emergency. Is it a family emergency?” he asked, barely able to hide the anger that latched onto his voice.
You remained silent for a while and he silently cursed under his breath. How could you do this to him? You had agreed you would join him two months ago, there's no way you couldn't plan that much ahead back then. But then you let out a laugh, one of those adorable laughs he loved so much, and his anger disappeared at once.
“I'll send you an address. Get in the car and meet me there,” you told him.
“I'll be at the track all day and you arrive in the morning, don't tell me you won't–”
You cleared your throat to interrupt him. “I was talking about now, you muppet. Or are you about to sleep?” you asked him teasingly.
Lando huffed and rolled his eyes. But then it struck him, you were talking about now, you were talking about him driving to that mysterious location, which meant… “Wait, you're already here?” he asked you.
“Just meet me. There's something I need to tell you.”
And with that you ended the call. He didn't have the brain capacity to stop you, and it didn't occur to him that he could have called you back. Instead he stood there, staring at the screen of his phone until the notification popped up. He put the address in the search bar and checked the map. It was close, only a fifteen minutes drive from his hotel.
Without hesitation, he grabbed his keys and headed to where you were apparently waiting for him. He was already standing in front of the elevator when he realized he left the rings in his room, and he didn't want to leave without them. So he ran back and picked up the two boxes, putting them safely in his pocket.
After a car ride that seemed painfully slow, he finally arrived at his destination. According to your message, you were right here, but when he looked up, he noticed it was a private clinic. Hoping this was the right address, he went closer to the door and it opened right away, so he went inside and tried to figure out where to go next. This place was huge, and at this time it felt like he was in The Walking Dead.
“Mr. Norris? Please, follow me,” a woman in her thirties told him with a polite smile, gesturing towards the elevator.
“Where are we going?” he asked when the door closed behind them.
The woman only watched him with a mysterious smile, probably perfectly aware of what was happening, but she didn't say a word. She probably promised to keep your secret, which was nice, but also extremely annoying. Why in a clinic? Did something happen to you? But you sounded happy, surely everything was okay.
Before they stopped, the woman handed him an eye mask and asked him to put it on. At this point he didn't dare to ask questions, so he did as he was told and followed her guidance after the elevator came to a halt. After she made him stop, he heard a door open and he was soon pushed ahead to enter.
He waited. Someone would hopefully come over to tell him what this was all about, and until then he decided to remain silent. And then he felt soft fingers trace his cheek, only to find the edge of the mask and slowly pull it off his head. There you were, happy and in one piece. With a smile, he was quick to pull you into a hug.
“I missed you,” he whispered as he kissed your head then buried his face into the crook of your neck. “What are you doing here? Or rather, what are we doing here in a clinic?”
“I have a surprise for you,” you purred into his ear, and he could feel your nails scratch the skin on the back of his neck as you spoke. It felt nice. He missed this.
For the first time, he took a look around the ultrasound room, and when he noticed the posters on the walls, his suspicion began to grow. “Wait a second,” he began as he took a step back and looked you in the eye. “Are you…?” He pointed at your abdomen with a raised eyebrow.
With a laugh, you took his hand. “I am. Eight weeks in,” you informed him.
For a while he was staring at you with a dumbfounded look on his face, but then he stepped closer to pull you into a passionate kiss. What started out as something serious soon turned into a series of giggles from the both of you. Lando was the one who pulled away, suddenly remembering something.
He excused himself and stepped outside for long enough to find the main ring’s box in his pocket, then returned with his hands held behind his back. There was no plan, at least not for these circumstances, so he had no choice but to improvise. You looked confused and he had to flash a smile at you to let you know it was okay.
“I… You know… Damn it. Okay, so there was a plan, I promise, but you didn't really leave me a choice. Pick a hand.”
“What?” you asked with a confused look.
“Choose a hand. Left or right?”
You let out a thoughtful hum, visibly thinking about the answer. Then you flashed a wide grin at him and said, “Right.”
It was in his left hand, but nevermind, he grabbed the box with his right one and held it out for you. “This is yours,” he said nervously.
The shocked look on your face made him worry, but it slowly melted away as you slowly opened the box and saw the ring inside. You took it out to take a better look at the piece of jewelry, and soon a smile grew on your face before you finally turned to him.
“What do you say?” Lando asked.
“You didn't ask me anything.”
With a roll of his eyes, he reached out to take the ring and took your hand as well. “Will you marry me?” You nodded without hesitation, tears already forming in your eyes, and he quickly put the ring on your finger before you could change your mind. He kissed you again, but he could tell you were looking at your new ring behind his back. “You like it?” he asked once he pulled away and took a look at it as well.
You nodded. “It's beautiful.”
Lando reached into his pocket for the other box, and showed you his plan B. “If you'd prefer something classic, here's this one too,” he explained.
“You're insane. One ring is more than enough,” you told him with a laugh.
“Well, I know how many shoes you have, this can't be any different.”
With a playful laugh, you slapped his arm. “An engagement ring is different, trust me,” you said as you leaned closer. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” He looked around and motioned towards the machine in the corner. “So… Are we here so I can take a look at my child?”
You nodded and went out to ask the doctor to come in. Meanwhile Lando couldn't help but think about how much organizing it must have taken to get this ready, but he was honestly grateful, because it was a big surprise. A big and amazing surprise. This was one of the reasons why he loved you so much, and all he wanted was to make your life as good as he could in return.

The Evil Little Hairy Cave People of Europe in Pulp Fiction
Tumblr media
From the 1900s to the 1940s, there was a trendy theme in occult and horror stories that the explanation for widespread European legends of fairies, brownies, pixies, leprechauns and other malicious little people, was that they were a hereditary racial memory of the extremely small non-human, hairy stone age original inhabitants of Europe, who still survive well into modern times in caves and barrows below the earth. Envious of being displaced on the surface, these weird creatures, adapted to the darkness of living underground and unable to withstand the sun, still mean mischief and occasionally go out at night to capture someone.... usually an attractive woman....to take to their dark caves for human sacrifice.
Tumblr media
Displaced by the arrival of Indo-European language speakers at the dawn of the Bronze Age, these original, not quite human stone age people of Europe were driven deep underground into caves and barrows below the earth, where they went mad, adapted to the darkness and acquired a fear of daylight, became extremely inbred, in some cases acquired widespread albinism. It is these strange little people who gave the descendants of Europeans a haunting racial dread of places below the earth like mines and caves, and it also is these strange, hairy troglodytes who originally built the uncanny and mysterious menhir, fairy rings, and stone age structures of England, Scotland, and Ireland that predate the coming of the Celts and Romans.
Tumblr media
In some cases, these evil troglodytes are usually identified with the mysterious Picts, the pre-Celtic stone age inhabitants of the British Isles. In some cases, they are identified with the Basque people of Spain, best known as the inventors of Jai Alai, and the oldest people in Europe who speak a unique language unrelated to any in the world.
Tumblr media
The original codifier of this trend was Arthur Machen, a horror writer who is less remembered than his contemporary, Henry James, but who may be the best horror writer in the generations between Poe on the one end and Lovecraft/CL Moore/Clark Ashton Smith on the other. His story, "the White People" from 1904 (a reference to their strange cave albinism) was a twisted Alice in Wonderland with a girl who is irresistibly attracted to dark pre-Roman stone age ruins and who is eventually pulled underground.
In addition to being a great horror writer, Arthur Machen was a member of the Hermetic Society of the Golden Dawn, an occult organization, and was often seen at the Isis-Urania Temple in London. Many of his works have secretive occult knowledge.
H.P. Lovecraft in particular always pointed out Arthur Machen as his single biggest inspiration, though he combined Machen's dread and occultism with Abraham Merritt's sense of fear of the cosmic unknown, seen in "Dwellers in the Mirage" and "People of the Pit."
Tumblr media
Another and scarier example of this trend would be "No Man's Land," a story by John Buchan, a Scotsman fascinated by paganism and horror, who often wrote stories of horrific discoveries and evil rites on the Scottish moors. He is often reduced to being described as a "Scottish Ghost Story" writer, a painfully reductivist description as in his career, Buchan wrote a lot of thrillers, detective, and adventure stories as well. In later life, he was appointed Governor General of Canada, meaning he may be the first head of state to be a horror writer.
It was Buchan who first identified the cave creatures with the Picts, something that another Weird Tales writer decades later, Robert E. Howard, would roll with in the 1920s.
Tumblr media
Howard is a very identifiable kind of modern person you often see on the internet: a guy who talks tough, but who was terrified to leave his small town. He created manly man, tough guy heroes like Conan the Barbarian, Kull, and El Borak, but he himself never left his mother's house. It's no wonder he got along well with his fellow Weird Tales writer and weird shut in, HP Lovecraft. With 1920s Weird Tales writers, despite your admiration for their incredible talent, you also can't help but laugh at them a little, a feeling you also apply to a lot of Victorians, who achieved incredible things, but who are often closet cases and cranks who died virgins ("Chinese" Gordon comes to mind, as does Immelmann).
With Howard, his obsession with the Picts and the stone age cave dwelling people of Europe started with an unpublished manuscript where at a dinner party, a man gets knocked out and regresses to his past life in the Bronze Age, where he remembers the earliest contact between modern humans and the original inhabitants of the British Isles, the evil darkskinned Picts. This is a mix of both the "little cave people" story and another cliche at the time, "the stone age past life regression novel," another turn of the century cliche.
Still with the Picts on his mind, Howard would later create Bran Mak Morn, a Pict chieftain, who predated Kull and Conan as his Celtic caveman muscle hero. Howard was of Irish descent and proudly anti-Colonial and anti-British, with his Roman Empire and Civilized Kingdoms as a stand in for the British and other Empires, which he viewed as rapacious and humbug, a view shared by his greatest inspiration, Talbot Mundy. His "Worms of the Earth" gets to the heart of why these little cave people scare us so much: they remind us that we live on land that is impossibly ancient and we don't fully understand at all.
Tumblr media
It was another Weird Tales Writer a decade later who wrote one of the last stories about the little hairy cave people of Europe, though, Manly Wade Wellman in 1942. Wellman was mainly known for creating the blond beefcake caveman hero Hok the Mighty set in stone age times, and for his supernatural ghost stories of Silver John the Balladeer set in modern, ghostly Appalachia (like many ex-Weird Tales writers, he made a turn to being a regional author in his later career, in the same way Hugh B. Cave became a Caribbean writer), but Wellman also had a regular character known as John Thunstone, a muscular and wealthy playboy known for his moustache who used his great wealth to investigate the supernatural and the occult. Thunstone had a silver sword made by St. Dunstan, patron of Silversmiths, well known for his confrontations with the Devil.
Most John Thunstone stories featured familiar stories, like a demon possessed seance and so on, but one in particular featured a unique enemy, the Shonokins.
Tumblr media
The Shonokins were the original rulers of North America, descendants of Neanderthal man displaced by American Indians. This fear that the land we live is ancient and unknowable and we just arrived on it and don't know any of its secrets is common to settler societies, who often hold the landscape with dread, as in Patricia Wrightson's fantasies of the Australian Outback. It was easy enough to transport the hairy cave people from the Scottish Moors to North America. I suspect that's what they are, a personification of a fear shared in the middle class, that in the back of their minds, that everything they have supposedly earned is merely an accident of history, built by rapacity and the crimes of history, and that someday a bill will come due.
A text page in the May 1942 issue of Weird Tales gives strange additional information on the Shonokins not found elsewhere:
Tumblr media
Since then, there have been too many examples of evil cave people who predate Europeans. Philip Jose Farmer's "The All White Elf" features the last survivor of a pre-European people who live in caves. A lot of other fiction of course has featured the Picts, but according to our modern scientific understanding, which describes them as much, much less exotically, as a blue tattooed people not too different and practically indistinguishable from the Celtic tribes that surrounded them, and which they eventually blended into.

YGO AU wild vegas binge (on request)
featuring: every sex binge stereotype ever Summary: kaiba meets a spiky-haired man who sweeps him off his feet and they go on a wild sex binge Tags: kaiba sluts it up, Multi?shipping with pride being the main?kaiba kisses and fucks everyone, if you dont like kaiba being a slut with every protagonist (and minor side characters), this is not for you, orgies, foursomes, threesomes, drug use ✦•┈┈┈┈┈┈๑⋅⋯ CHAPTER 1 ⋯⋅๑┈┈┈┈┈┈•✦
Kaiba palmed the ring box nervously in his blazer pocket, his appetite poor, his palms damp while he waited for dessert to land.
He stared at Kisara’s dyed white-blond hair across the table, his heart flipping in his stomach as she sipped her wine with a delicate air and gave him a soft smile that made his stomach turn even more.
This was it. He was proposing.
Seven years with her and she was the perfect girlfriend.
The waiter came by with the thin slice of tiramisu, so Kaiba leaned back to let the cake land under his chin before he slipped the ring box out of his pocket and silently pushed it across the table, past the flowers, past the candle, and right up to the base of her wine glass.
His ears burned with white-hot anticipation as she stared at it blankly and set her fork down with a firm motion, giving him a long, silent look of shock.
W-Was it that shocking?
He’d done all the things right: flown her out to a nice city as a surprise, gotten a restaurant with a nice view, and bought a really large suite with honeymoon services offered–premium decor, premium liquor, massages, constant room service.
“You want to try asking properly?” She asked with a sligh flush to her cheeks as she patted the napkin across her beautiful lips and nodded, sitting back in her chair with her shoulders squared back. “Ready now.”
Kaiba drew a blank and he stared at her for a minute before she nudged him under the table with her foot and leaned in to say, “...in a romantic way?! Like down on one knee?”
Right, right, Kaiba stood slowly out of his seat and edged around the table to kneel before her, and she parted her mouth to huff derisively, glancing over her shoulder at the ring box on the table.
Fuck! I– Kaiba stood up to snatch the ring box up, his sleeve almost catching on fire from brushing the candle, and he knelt again, seeing her sigh, roll her eyes with a flutter of her eyelashes and offer her hand out to him with a serious nod.
“Kisara, I’m a huge fuck up. You know this,” Kaiba said evenly as he tried to crack a shaky smile, resting his hand atop her knee, feeling her silky dress underneath his damp palm. He hastily withdrew and pried the box open with a careful, practiced motion he’d done in the mirror several times. “I hope you’ll want to continue putting up with me and my lifestyle choices. Please marry me.”
Applause rang out in the dining room behind them, and Kaiba ignored it all, his face steadily heating up with embarrassment, wondering why she wasn’t even smiling.
She gingerly picked the box up out of his hands and angled it in the light, and wrinkled her nose.
Kaiba was crushed. His heart pounded in his ears and his knees weakened so much, he couldn’t find the energy to stand again. S-She didn’t like it? Too gaudy? Too… What? It was silver, and it had a halo surround of tiny diamonds around one single, larger stone.
It was ‘classic trendy’.
Girl magazines said so!
The internet forums, and secretaries on three different floors said so! He’d picked the most clear color even though he wanted to go with blue.
M-Maybe he should’ve gone with a blue stone?! The nose-wrinkle was making him spiral!
“It’s very small,” she said with finality, plucking the ring out of the cushion and sliding it onto her finger herself, leaning back to inspect her hand with a tilt of her head. “You could do better, Seto.” She took it off, set it back into the box, and closed it, handing it back to him with a calm nod. “I love you, and know you can do better. I’ll say ‘yes’ then.”
Kaiba stared at her mouth moving, but only heard a few words.
“....You can do better…” Yeah. Something in his gut said he ought to run.
A girl who only stayed with him for money and knew that he could buy her a multitude of different rocks in all shapes and sizes any time, but held him to that standard with the very first ring of many…was a bad sign.
“I can buy you many more after this. This is symbolic,” Kaiba said, still on his knees and unable to stand while he stared into her pretty face for what he felt like was the last time. “I don’t want to propose with a flashy 8 million yen ring. I thought this was small and cute. Everyone said so–”
“Because you’re frugal? Or because you think I don’t deserve a bigger ring when you propose?” Her eyes flashed dangerously as her fork hovered over her cake which she was still trying to eat. “Who is ‘everyone’?” She continued, her tone dropping into derisiveness, Kaiba felt a crushing pang in his chest, hurting him with every breath while she stabbed him with her harsh words. “Everyone you pay? They’re obligated to say they like it. I hate it. You could really do better.”
Kaiba felt himself arguing back even though inside, he was screaming at himself to shut up, “if you don’t want me for my money, why do you want a bigger ring?!”
“Because! It means you care for me, more than that tiny, booger-sized ring. You’re doing this to test me, and I’m angry. This gesture is so insulting coming from someone like you, Seto.” Kisara pushed her chair back and stood up to leave, not wanting to cause a scene in the nice, quiet restaurant where all eyes were suddenly on them, because Seto still hadn’t stood up…as if he was really begging–as if! She’d given this man 7 years!
It wasn’t worth at least 1 million yen per year?! Towards the ring?!
Seto was a fucking billionaire for fuck’s sake! So insulting! Rude! Inconsiderate! And she even had to tell him to get on his knees. Absolutely terrible proposal.
Speechless, Kaiba watched her step around him and walk away, leaving him humiliated by the tableside, still on his knees.
W-WOWWWWWWWWWWW–
Was he deficient?! Was he…a horrible, insufferable person if it weren’t for his money?!
Her storming off told him all he needed to know.
She was mad at the ‘booger-sized’ ring, huh?!
So she could see it was 0.33 of a carat and was measuring already!
She wanted his money and had been biding her time! Her actions said so!
Money was all he had to offer anyway! ……
Was he stupid for thinking anyone stuck around for a reason otherwise?!
Numb with disbelief, Kaiba couldn’t find the will to stand.
What if he was dirt poor and this was the only ring he could afford?! That thought kept rattling around in his head and he was unable to stand, aware that people might still be staring at him, but he didn’t care.
A few tables away, Yami snickered and toasted Isis across from him. She smirked and raised her glass, her eyes following the pretty woman with long white hair as she stormed off. Hilarious!
“Okay. You win,” Isis said calmly, tossing the champagne back with a graceful tilt of her head, her dark hair swinging down past her shoulders when she set the glass back down onto the table. “You’re right. The drama of the upper dining suites are the best. Do you think she even likes him? Some people would stay to talk it out.”
“We could approach,” Yami hummed, eyeing the back of the man’s neat brown hair. He so badly wanted to mess it up by running his hands through it. “Send Mai after her in the casino downstairs. See if she’ll take the bait.”
Isis shrugged happily and poured herself another glass, picking it up and staring at the handsome man in the suit who was still kneeling by the empty table. Awww… Smelled like a sad client!
“Friendly wager. 20% of your earnings for one night if I can get him into a room in 30 minutes,” Isis said smoothly, standing up with her glass of wine and shrugging her dress lower down across her shoulders, baring her collarbones and cleavage. “How is it?”
“Lower,” Yami said flatly without even looking, keeping his eyes fixed on the stiff, white collar of the man’s suit. “If you fail, he’s mine next.”
Isis huffed and swept her glass off the table and took it, whispering over her shoulder, “we’re not at a club. Any lower and it’ll be trashy.”
Suit yourself, Yami sang as he sipped his champagne and glanced down at his watch.
30 minutes starting now.
20% of his earnings for one of his nights was a lot!
Isis sat down in the empty seat the woman had just vacated, and her breath caught when she stared into the stranger’s handsome face. PRETTY!
“Hello, I’m–” she barely got a word out before the man snapped out of his trance, his blue eyes sharpening when he scanned her face, her bare shoulders, her low cut dress, and growled at her.
“Get out. No. Fuck off.” She looked like an escort!
Ah! Isis grit her teeth and tried one last time.
“Just lending a friendly ear,” she said coolly, trying to settle into the seat, but the man stood unsteadily and snarled at her.
“I said… fuck off before I call security. Who let you in?” Kaiba hissed, aware that an ugly side was coming out of him real fast, but he didn’t care.
She gave him a grimace and took her wine glass with her.
Kaiba sank back into his seat and stared blankly at the spot across from him, the candlelight burning into his retinas while his eyes heated up with furious tears.
This city was full of vultures. It was a place where people came to party, to drink, to gamble, to get married on a whim, to celebrate a long love, and have bachelorette parties, so he thought bringing Kisara here would give them a peek at their honeymoon city!
She always enjoyed a good ‘party capital vacation’ like Ibiza and Berlin, so how was Las Vegas any different?  It’s not the city, Kaiba realized heavily, reaching for the glass of alcohol Kisara had left and took a sip. He even held out on drinking all night so he could propose sober.
He wanted her to know he was serious.
What did she do? Wrinkle her nose in his face. He’d spent months researching a ring! She was probably waiting upstairs in their suite and he couldn’t face her.
“You failed,” Yami grinned at Isis, standing up to smooth his tie down his front. “My turn. He’s gay. 20% of your nightly earnings if he is.”
“He is not,” Isis said poisonously, gripping her wine stem harder. “Stop thinking every man you lay your eyes on is gay. That’s unhealthy.”
“Or I’m just predicting our future together,” Yami pouted comically, winked, and took his wine glass to confront the man sulking by the tall windows that displayed the glittering city beyond.
He approached the candlelit table and pulled the chair out, sinking into the spot and offering his arm out in a closed fist for a fist bump, his heart leaping when he stared into the man’s dejected face. Sad but handsome. He had almond eyes that were lined with nice lashes, and a striking jaw, framing pretty, high-cheekbones where his neat brown hair was cut right at an angle, resting above his ears in a tight-laced way that made Yami’s heart race.
Maybe a lawyer or a doctor. He guessed based on the haircut.
Kaiba barely moved when another person sat down in the empty seat, and he gave up trying to shoo the prostitutes away. They could all smell money. He knew that. Maybe he could just pretend he didn’t speak English.
That usually did it–nope, they would just try to con him further. And this one was a man. Maybe he was that lady’s pimp.
“Hey man,” Yami said with a catty smile, his arm getting a bit tired from hanging in the middle of the table. “I have a present for you.” “No.” Kaiba replied, and he sipped his wine, feeling nauseous because his lips touched a part of the glass where Kisara’s mouth may have just been. Oh god, he was so put off by…everything. The world could burn right now and he’d be happy. Love was dead. Money was the only thing he was to other people.
Might as well embrace it. The pushy stranger sitting across from him lowered his fist and placed a tiny purple circular pill atop the white tablecloth beside the black ring box, lifting up the champagne bottle to bring the edge down onto it, breaking it in half with a deft motion.
“It’s E,” Yami said casually, taking his half and wondering if he should split it again. “More where that came from later. Want to? You and I can have a good time in the city together. Forget her. Let me help you out. I saw that whole thing. It was brutal.”
Kaiba stared at the tinted powder left behind atop the table, the blood rushing in his ears. Awesome. Doing drugs to deal with heartbreak. Doing drugs to escape this horrible night. Yeah, ‘brutal’ was how he was feeling right now. Kisara kept him sober and serious.
He always strived to be the best for her, and the moment he wanted to do something his way, she stomped on his feelings and refused to hear him out about it. Well if she didn’t want him for his personality, everyone else wanted him, especially the money-hungry sex workers who prowled every inch of the city, somehow even managing to get into 5-star restaurants.
Maybe they’re 5-star hookers, Kaiba thought derisively as he slowly reached for the purple pill and bit back a laugh. 5-star prostitutes and 5-star drugs…here I fucking come!
He placed the pill on his tongue and threw it back with the rest of the champagne in Kisara’s glass as an extra ‘fuck you’. He always knew he had a shitty personality.
Why pretend like he was a hardworking saint? Especially when all his efforts went to waste when he could’ve just thrown money at her. It would’ve been nice if she asked for money straight-up at the start.
Then he wouldn’t waste his TIME too!
The tablet dissolved on his tongue as it slid into his throat, the alcohol stinging his nose.
Yep. He’d fucked up his own happiness by proposing with well thought-out effort instead of just letting his money do the talking, like everything else in his life.  Yami watched the man take a practiced shot with the champagne glass, and his eyes widened. Score. Was Isis seeing this?
He raised two fingers to wave playfully at her, and she rolled her eyes furiously, looking away fast. Yep. She was the loser, and he was about to be much richer tonight with Mr. Heartbreak over here! These ones always opened their wallets the fastest.
Kaiba slammed the champagne glass down onto the table, his heart racing as he stared at the pretty face across from him, his anger running high while his blood boiled. The guy had pretty, angular eyes, a delicate face, and a sharp jaw. His lips were plump, and
he looked like a playboy fuckhead pimp who could rake in girls if they hung out together. That was the con, wasn’t it?
“Bankrupt me,” he said flatly, pushing the ring box towards the man and wishing the drug would take effect sooner. “And give me more where that came from. Trade you a white rock for white powder.”
“Oh for me?” Yami feigned a dramatic gasp and pocketed the ring without even looking at it, pulling out a small dime bag of cocaine to push it across the table, hiding it from view with the top of his hand but keeping it pinched between his middle and index finger. “What an amazing trade! I think we can go to the bathroom together–”
Kaiba snatched the tiny bag of white powder out of the man’s fingers and stood up to find the bathroom. Yes, time to get triple fucked up. He had billions. No one could bankrupt him even if they tried. Even he couldn’t do it, and he had tried! He’d calculated it before.
He’d have to spend 100k USD every day to be somewhat poor.
Yami stood to follow and hurried past his table to drop the ring off to Isis, lowering his voice to mutter, “try it with a few pawn shops. See if it's real and how much.”
“Probably trash based on her reaction,” she smirked, taking the box from him and opening it, laughing with a huff and turning it around to show him. “Not even 1 carat. You have to squint to see it. Have fun with him. It might be CZ.” She plucked it out of the cushion and stuck it on her middle finger. Perfect fit, and…cute?!
She might keep this even if it was a fake.
This was one of the more tasteful ones. She put it on her forefinger with a smirk. Cuuute!
Yami shook his head in exasperation and hurried off to find his target in the bathroom, hoping Mr. Heartbreak wouldn’t do the whole bag of coke without him.
He hurried around the long corridor and elbowed his way into the men’s bathroom, shocked to see the tall man bent over the top of the hand dryers, already leaning down to hit a line up his nose, and Yami opened his mouth to protest, but then saw…a black card hanging from slim, pale fingertips. !!! So he had money!!
Or he came to the party city with party money, since everyone knew a black card opened doors…only until the client could afford it. He knew a thing or two about how black cards could be maxed. “Give it to me,” Yami snatched the card out of the man’s hand, read the name off the front, memorizing the numbers…and used it to pile half a line of cocaine a bit neater for himself, leaning down to hit it up his nose before handing the card back.
“Keep it,” Kaiba pinched his nose while his eyes watered. Ow. Then he bent over the sink to wash his face to make sure no white power clung to his face. He was done trying to pretend like he was a good guy. People wanted him for money? Fine!
They’d realize it was all he was good for.
Kind, handsome, and generous? Marry me instead! Yami grinned and pocketed the black card.
“Okay… Seto,” Yami tried the first name tentatively, and when he got no answer, he nodded and used the corner of the card to sweep the rest of the powder back into the edge of the small bag, wiping the top of the dryer off with a paper towel. “Let’s go clubbing and have a lot of wild sex.”
Kaiba nodded and followed the spiky-haired man out of the bathroom, still waiting for the mix of drugs to kick in. Yeah, his night better be wild and filled with partying and sex, the best his money could buy.

Baby Name Debate
Summary: Baby Name Debate
During a cozy evening at home, you and Leon brainstorm baby names for your twins, but the conversation takes a lively turn during a family gathering.
🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷
The living room of the cabin was aglow with the soft flicker of a fire as you and Leon sat side by side on the couch. Zeus lay at your feet, his head resting on your slippers, while Lucky curled up by Leon, content and snoring softly. A notebook sat open on your lap, its pages filled with scribbled names, half-crossed-out ideas, and little hearts doodled in the margins.
“So,” Leon began, twirling a pen between his fingers, “we’ve gone through ten pages of names. Any favorites yet?”
You smiled, glancing at the list. “I like a few, but nothing feels like the one yet.”
Leon chuckled, leaning back and stretching his arm along the couch. “Good thing we still have time. I mean, they’re not here yet, and I doubt they’ll complain if we take another week to decide.”
You laughed, nudging him playfully. “They might not complain, but I’d like to at least have a shortlist. You know how my family gets—they’ll want to know if we’re naming them after anyone.”
As if on cue, the sound of voices filtered in from the kitchen. Your mother, father, and grandparents had come over for dinner, and the topic of baby names had already sparked interest during dessert.
The Family Chimes In
After dinner, everyone migrated to the living room, coffee cups and cookies in hand. Your grandfather plopped into his favorite chair, his signature plaid blanket draped over his knees. Your grandmother perched beside him, her knitting needles clicking away.
“So,” your grandmother said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “Have you two decided on names yet?”
Leon looked at you with a knowing smirk, silently asking if he should spill.
“We’re still debating,” you admitted. “We have a few ideas, but nothing’s set in stone.”
“Let us help!” your grandfather declared, sitting up straighter. “I’ve got some great ideas.”
You and Leon exchanged amused glances. “Okay, Grandpa,” Leon said, gesturing toward him. “Let’s hear them.”
Your grandfather rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “How about Gertrude? Or maybe Mildred for a girl. Good, strong names.”
The room erupted in laughter. Your grandmother rolled her eyes. “Oh, for heaven’s sake, Harold. No one names their children Gertrude anymore.”
“It’s classic!” your grandfather argued, but the twinkle in his eye gave away his humor. “Alright, fine. How about Elmer for a boy?”
Your father nearly choked on his coffee. “Elmer? Dad, this isn’t the 1940s.”
Your grandfather shrugged. “Elmer’s a solid name. You could call him ‘Eli’ for short.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, but as you glanced at Leon, you noticed he was scribbling something in the notebook.
“Wait a second,” Leon said, holding up the notebook. “What about Eli? It’s short, strong, and timeless.”
Your mother, who had been sitting quietly, finally spoke up. “Eli isn’t bad. It’s better than Elmer, at least.”
You tilted your head, letting the name roll around in your mind. “Eli… I actually like it. It’s simple but has a nice ring to it.”
Leon grinned. “Alright, Eli’s officially on the list.”
The Debate Continues
Your grandmother leaned forward, her knitting forgotten. “What about something with meaning? Maybe a name that reflects the love you two share or the strength of your journey together?”
“That’s a good idea,” Leon said, his voice thoughtful. “Something meaningful.”
Your father chimed in, his tone light. “Just don’t pick anything too fancy. Remember, they have to learn how to spell it one day.”
Your mother nodded, then hesitated before adding, “What about something more traditional? Like William or Charlotte?”
“Both nice,” you said, scribbling them down, “but I think I want something a little more unique. Not too out there, though.”
Melissa, who had been quietly scrolling through her phone, suddenly spoke up. “Well, just don’t pick anything too trendy. You don’t want them to have the same name as five other kids in their class.”
“Noted,” you said, trying not to roll your eyes.
The Perfect Moment
As the conversation continued, names were thrown out left and right. Some were serious, like Caleb and Eleanor, while others, like Rufus and Agatha, had everyone in stitches.
It wasn’t until Leon flipped to a fresh page in the notebook that he paused, his brow furrowing in concentration. “What about Aria?” he asked, his voice soft.
You blinked, the name sending a spark through you. “Aria… that’s beautiful. It’s elegant but strong.”
Your grandfather clapped his hands together. “Finally, a winner! Aria it is.”
“Hold on,” Leon said, grinning. “We still need another name. Twins, remember?”
Your grandmother smiled knowingly. “How about something that complements Aria? Maybe Evangeline? You could call her Evie for short.”
“Aria and Evie,” you murmured, the names settling in your heart like they’d always belonged there. You looked at Leon, who nodded.
“I love it,” he said, his voice filled with certainty.
The Aftermath
By the end of the night, the notebook was filled with scribbles and crossed-out names, but two stood out clearly: Aria and Evie.
As your family trickled out of the cabin, your grandfather patted Leon on the shoulder. “Good work, son. But if you change your mind, Elmer’s still on the table.”
Leon laughed, shaking his head. “I think we’re good, but thanks, Harold.”
As the door closed behind the last guest, you leaned into Leon, the warmth of the fire and his embrace surrounding you.
“Aria and Evie,” you said softly.
“Perfect,” Leon replied, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “Just like you.”
Zeus barked softly from his spot by the fire, and Lucky wagged his tail, as if agreeing that the twins already had the perfect names.

How to Choose the Perfect Engagement Ring for Her: A Comprehensive Guide
Choosing the perfect engagement ring for your partner is a decision that requires careful thought, attention to detail, and an understanding of her personal style. After all, an engagement ring is not just a piece of jewelry, but a symbol of your love, commitment, and shared future. The right choice will not only make her smile but will also reflect her personality, style, and values. If you're on the hunt for the ideal women engagement rings, here's a detailed guide to help you navigate the selection process.
Tumblr media
1. Understand Her Style
The first step in choosing the perfect engagement ring is understanding your partner's unique style. Take note of the jewelry she currently wears. Does she prefer classic, timeless pieces, or does she lean toward more modern, bold designs? Is she drawn to gold or platinum, or does she prefer silver and rose gold? The engagement ring should reflect her taste and complement the jewelry she wears daily.
If you're unsure, consider asking her friends or family for insight. Alternatively, if she’s already mentioned certain designs or features she likes, you can use that information to guide your choice. Choosing the right metal and design style is key to finding the perfect women engagement rings that she'll cherish forever.
2. Select the Right Metal
The metal of the ring is an essential factor in the overall design and appearance. The most common metals for women engagement rings include:
Platinum: Known for its strength, platinum is a luxurious and durable metal. It's perfect for someone who appreciates timeless elegance.
White Gold: Offering a similar appearance to platinum but at a lower price, white gold is another excellent option for engagement rings.
Yellow Gold: Traditional and warm, yellow gold is a classic choice that complements various diamond shapes.
Rose Gold: A trendy and romantic option, rose gold is gaining popularity for its soft pink hue.
Each metal has its unique characteristics, so choose one that best suits her preferences and lifestyle.
3. Choose the Right Diamond or Gemstone
Tumblr media
The center stone is arguably the most crucial element of any women engagement rings. While diamonds are the most popular choice, some may prefer colored gemstones like sapphires, emeralds, or rubies for a more personalized touch. When selecting the diamond, keep the Four Cs in mind:
Cut: The cut determines the diamond’s brilliance and sparkle. A well-cut diamond will maximize its light reflection, giving it the iconic shimmer you're seeking.
Clarity: Clarity refers to the presence of any imperfections or inclusions. Opt for diamonds with higher clarity ratings if you want a flawless appearance.
Color: Diamond color ranges from colorless to yellow or brown. The less color a diamond has, the more valuable and sought after it is.
Carat: Carat weight affects the size of the diamond. Consider your budget and your partner's preferences for a balance between size and quality.
If you're considering alternative gemstones, be sure to select one that will stand the test of time. Moissanite and other durable stones can be stunning choices for someone who wants something unique and affordable.
4. Consider the Ring Setting
The ring setting can drastically alter the overall look of the engagement ring. Here are a few popular options to consider:
Solitaire Setting: A timeless choice that features a single diamond in the center. This classic style allows the stone to shine.
Halo Setting: A stunning design where a central stone is surrounded by a "halo" of smaller diamonds or gemstones, enhancing the overall sparkle.
Three-Stone Setting: Symbolizing the past, present, and future, this setting features three stones of equal size or varying sizes.
Vintage Settings: With intricate details and a sense of nostalgia, vintage-style settings are perfect for someone who loves old-world charm.
Make sure to choose a setting that complements the metal and stone you've chosen, while also aligning with her style.
5. Know Her Ring Size
This may seem obvious, but knowing your partner’s ring size is crucial. You don’t want to propose with a ring that’s too big or too small. If you're unsure of her size, try borrowing one of her rings (from the correct finger) or ask her friends or family. Some jewelers also offer sizing tools for you to discreetly measure the ring size.
6. Ensure Proper Care and Maintenance
Tumblr media
When purchasing women engagement rings, it’s important to also consider how to properly maintain them. A stunning ring is an investment, so taking care of it will ensure it continues to shine for years to come. Here are a few maintenance tips:
Regular Cleaning: Cleaning your engagement ring regularly helps maintain its sparkle. Use a soft cloth or a jewelry cleaning solution to remove dirt and oils. Many jewelers offer professional cleaning services, so make sure to take the ring in for a checkup.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Harsh chemicals, like bleach, chlorine, or household cleaners, can damage both the metal and the gemstone. When cleaning or performing household chores, it's a good idea to remove the ring to avoid any potential damage.
Store Properly: When not wearing the ring, store it in a soft, padded box or pouch to protect it from scratches and physical damage. Avoid leaving it in areas where it may be exposed to extreme temperatures or moisture.
7. Budget Wisely
Before heading out to purchase the ring, it’s essential to establish a budget. There’s no need to overspend, as the perfect ring for your partner doesn’t have to come with an exorbitant price tag. Quality women engagement rings are available at various price points, so consider the style, metal, and stone that best fit your budget while still creating a meaningful piece.
Conclusion
Choosing the perfect women engagement rings is an exciting yet challenging process, but with careful thought and consideration, you can find the ring that will take her breath away. From understanding her personal style to choosing the ideal diamond or gemstone, each step is crucial in ensuring the engagement ring is a true reflection of your love. Once you've made your choice, remember that regular cleaning, avoiding harsh chemicals, and storing properly will keep the ring looking as stunning as the day you proposed. With these tips in mind, you're sure to find a ring that will become a cherished symbol of your love for years to come.
When you choose Valentina Rings, you're not just picking a piece of jewelry; you're choosing a lasting symbol of your commitment. Explore our collection of women engagement rings and discover the perfect piece to say "forever" in style.

"Daddy's Daughters. New ones."
Chapter 5
Dr. Ivo Robotnik began to get closer to psychologist Tricia Morgan. The woman helped Sophie get rid of stress before exams, Adele cope with allergies to sweets, and the sisters become friends (but it didn't work out very well). Stone watched as the doctor talked sweetly to Tricia. As it used to be with Y/N . The agent understood that the daughters would not accept this. He also shared this with Fatma Khanim. And one day something happened that turned my whole life upside down. Ivo Robotnik met with another woman who had the name Y/N. But she turned out to be too clingy and stupid. He left her and met Tricia. The psychologist shared that the man she likes will never ask her out because his heart is busy. At this time, Sophie fell in love with John Wackowski. They started dating. And at home, Adele found a gift from her mother behind Sophie's bed. Lizzie's mother gave her the encyclopedia she dreamed of, Dora got new headphones, and Adele got an expensive doll. Only Sophie didn't open it because she was offended by her mother (although she pretended to. She missed her mother). Adele looked into Sophie's bag and took out an expensive, trendy phone and a note.
-What a cool gift Sophie's mom gave her. I want one too,-Adele said. Lizzie and Dora looked at the phone.
-Better put it away, Adele,- Lizzie said, -it's Sophie's phone.
-Come on, Liz. She doesn't use it,- Dora said. Adele was running with Sophie's phone and accidentally touched a candle, which fell on a note from her mother. The girl stopped and looked at the fire. Dora and Lizzie pulled their sister away from the fire and huddled in a corner in a panic...
Robotnik returned home, put the ring away in a specially created drone. He decided to let his wife go. And then he smelled burning. -Daddy! - Adele screamed in tears. Ivo quickly ran to the kitchen and put out the fire. Then he hugged his daughters and started stroking them.
-Hush, girls. Dad is nearby. Dad saved you. Sophie returned home happy. And she gave Adele the phone. When the three girls had gone to play a board game, Ivo and Sophie were reading the remaining note from their mother. "Happy New Year, Sophie, my sweet daughter. I'm sorry that I'm not around, but if you need help, write..." The note ended there. There was no number. Sophie stared with glassy eyes, and Robotnik hugged his eldest daughter to him. When Sophie, Lizzie, Dora, Adele, Stone and Ivo were playing a game, the doctor's phone beeped. He read the message that said, "Ivo, hi. This is Y/N. This is my new number, let's meet and talk." The doctor rolled his eyes and wrote "leave me alone, I have another one" and blocked it. But she wasn't such a pesky woman... He got it mixed up... Y/N lifted her head from the phone and stared at the wall with tears in her eyes. Is that really it? Her husband has another woman and she has no place in their family...

The Timeless Elegance of Oval Cut Lab Grown Halo Rings in Rose Gold https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/PureStarDiamonds?section_id=48330517
If you’re in search of an engagement ring that combines timeless elegance, modern sustainability, and a touch of romance, then the Oval Cut Lab Grown Halo Rings in rose gold are a perfect choice. These rings are not just stunning pieces of jewelry; they represent a commitment to ethical practices and contemporary style. Let’s dive into why these rings are becoming increasingly popular and why they might be the ideal choice for you.
The Benefits of Lab Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are rapidly gaining traction in the jewelry industry due to their numerous benefits. These diamonds are created in laboratories that replicate the natural diamond-forming process, resulting in stones that are virtually indistinguishable from their mined counterparts.
Sustainability: Lab-grown diamonds are a more environmentally friendly option, as their production requires significantly less land disruption and water usage compared to traditional diamond mining.
Ethical Choice: By choosing lab-grown diamonds, you support ethical practices that avoid the exploitative labor often associated with mined diamonds. This means your ring symbolizes not just your love but also your values.
The Beauty of the Oval Cut
The oval cut is a sophisticated and versatile choice that has been favored for generations. Its elongated shape gives the illusion of a larger stone, adding to its allure. When paired with a halo setting, the brilliance of the oval cut diamond is amplified, making it a dazzling centerpiece.
Sophistication: The oval cut offers a blend of classic elegance and contemporary style, making it suitable for a wide range of tastes.
Flattering Shape: The elongated form of the oval cut is particularly flattering, creating a slender and elegant appearance on the finger.
The Charm of Rose Gold
Rose gold has surged in popularity for its unique, warm hue that exudes romance and modernity. It pairs beautifully with the brilliance of diamonds, creating a striking contrast that highlights the stone’s sparkle.
Versatile Appeal: Rose gold complements various skin tones and pairs well with both diamonds and other gemstones, enhancing their natural beauty.
Timeless Yet Trendy: While rose gold is currently trendy, it also has a timeless charm that ensures your ring will remain stylish for years to come.
Minimalist Design with Glamorous Accents
These rings are perfect for those who appreciate minimalist designs with a touch of glamour. The clean lines and sleek design make them ideal for everyday wear, while the halo and accent diamonds add a touch of sophistication.
Everyday Elegance: These rings are designed to be both stylish and comfortable, making them perfect for daily wear.
Versatility: Whether you’re dressing up for a special occasion or keeping it casual, these rings will complement any outfit effortlessly.
Handcrafted with Love
Each Oval Cut Lab Grown Halo Ring is meticulously handcrafted, ensuring a unique and high-quality piece. The craftsmanship involved in creating these rings makes them truly special.
Unique Artistry: Handcrafted rings carry a personal touch that mass-produced jewelry often lacks.
Thoughtful Gift: Giving a handmade ring shows the care and thought you’ve put into selecting the perfect gift.
Conclusion
Oval Cut Lab Grown Halo Rings in rose gold are the perfect choice for an engagement ring that embodies beauty, sustainability, and modern elegance. Celebrate your love story with a ring that reflects your values and style. Choose a lab-grown diamond and let your love shine as brightly as the ring on your finger.

Valentine's Day Application
Name: Amon Koutarou Age: 32 Do you like to cuddle?: "… Only with you, bunny. I like being close to you and holding you in my arms. Think we've already established that early on, but I'm more than happy to offer you plenty of evidence to prove my case." Can we make-out?: "When the mood is appropriate… ahem. It's a possibility, so I wouldn't rule it out just yet. That's for me to know, and for you to find out." A night in or dinner out?: "Think we can kill two birds with one stone, let's do both." Whip cream or chocolate syrup?: "… Is this for dessert? Both, I suppose?" Chocolates and roses?: "Well, I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise, would I?" The answer's yes, and with a giant bunny plush to add to the collection. What makes you a good Valentine?: "… I'm a committed partner, and I'm getting better at dancing." He feels somewhat awkward at having to advertise himself and fill out an application when they're already in a relationship, but he doesn't mind entertaining her and what seems to be a rabbit game. "You'd never have to worry when you're with me. Does that make me a qualified candidate for this holiday, or should I list specifics?... Is this an interview, baby girl?" Would you cook for me?: "I'd take care of everything." Even the hunting; she won't have to stain her pretty hands with blood anymore. Would you let me cook for you?: "Sure, if that's what you'd like. I'd want to help you out in the kitchen and with gathering the materials, though." Where would you take me on a date?: "… Somewhere you'd like to go? A trendy upstart restaurant with a dance floor and a good bar, and then somewhere more intimate where we can see the stars and slow dance underneath the night sky. I'll take you anywhere you want to go, just say the word. I'll make sure you feel safe anywhere and everywhere in this city." Who’s paying?: "-- Hey, don't worry about the money, alright bunny? I'll take care of everything." He's a gentleman who's adamant about never letting a lady pick up the tab. What did you get me for Valentine’s Day?: "Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, but I guess it's fine if I show you early." Matching promise rings with gemstones to symbolize their connection and commitment to each other, paired with a flower bouquet of her namesake and another giant bunny plush so the one he gave her for her birthday isn't lonely. It almost resembles him, with the same deep blue eyes and steady smile. "... Will all this do, Miss Sayuri? Am I the perfect fit for the position?"
Mangled flowers && cheap blood wine, the smell of intoxicating masked with decay, isn’t it comical? A ghoul that wishes to know what love is, the affection of a heart that brims with nowhere to go. Her stained dress, the ripped fabric of light gossamer && silk bows, slices of meat with the smell of cigarettes - she hated this, loathed it, none of it served meaning but only temporary reprieve from the vacancy that lingered. To live among those that admonished their existence, playing games in order to blend in, youthful with nowhere to go - always hiding. The rabbit who tried to believe her destiny was being snared by the wolves, might as well forget everything else that couldn’t be. When did she ever begin to care? Coffee that was brewed with love, the epitome of an indomitable spirit or the false belief maybe the inherited past they sought to escape could be washed away in the lull of lazy music && simple chatter. A dove, she remembered the worried voices murmuring, he’s found way into her burrow. It would be easy, fool him with the deception that whoever had the information he sought was just another nameless head to claim. Lower beings that caused too much trouble, ruining their fun but instead, she found herself inquisitive.
The curious being who would listen to him speak && laugh, nihilism entangled within the saccharine tone && champagne towers, what was this sensation that grew in the depths of her stomach? It was not hunger, she had not yearned to eat in years, neither was it the pleasant numbness that spread, dulling the ache of self loathing, it was warm - pleasant. Slowly, it grows as time goes by the actions that go against reaction, low snarls that start to transpire as kin mock her - just eat him, you feel only obsession, it will go away soon. Safe, he constantly says this where she shook && trembled, confessing she has never felt it, biting before she could be bitten. Like a great towering ghost, there she remembers, it burned again that same odd feeling rooted in the depths of her stomach - blooming, twisting, when she wished to slaughter him on the spot. Pathetically clinging to the regrets that she could never utter; stay here with me, I can protect us, why won’t you stay? Those who live solely for the entertainment that anchored itself in utmost debauchery were not meant to harbor such emotions, a life that was careless without regret, how distasteful. “You’re terrible” she finally laughs, meager && soft, unable to be deciphered if it’s amusement or scorn. Berry-stained, her bottom lip is tugged between her teeth. The fabric of a white sundress bunched in her grasp, humans love trivial things, don’t they? They like to flamboyantly express their affections, without knowing the reality of what devotion means.
The pale ghost reaches forward, slender fingers, too worn && yet, gentle, reach to touch his jawline. Affection that bore itself as she took the lead, a shimmering beacon of temporary reprieve from the mundane, Koutarou - he never saw this. Illusions that she cast in order to escape the existence that was deemed wrong from the start, another runaway, seeking to find freedom when there was none. He granted her the ability to believe that it was possible, this raw thing she called a heart was not useless. It still bled && pulsated with the tenacity to live even if she couldn’t recall why. I love you, the first time she says it the air is pulled from her lungs, the second time, it no longer is caustic on her tongue, slowly morphing into ways to remind him; we can face this together. “Just like always, making me blush && unable to say a thing, you’re such a heartthrob, investigator” finally, emerald eyes crystal with a thin sheen. She reaches to embrace him, tight && firm, like a bastion that refuses to fall - how could anyone be so pure in their beliefs? Even when disillusioned, even when the same system threatened to eliminate such truths, he was unwavering as ever.
“Already I can sense hunting is off the table, you’ll find everything before I could even oppose, still troublesome as ever” thin slices, tightly bound && placed on the counter, the savage gesture to kill for another was to proclaim; no longer shall you be alone, no longer shall you despair, this sorrow is now shared. “Still nostalgic for your salaryman days? You filled it out perfectly, Koutarou, there would never be a life that I wouldn’t choose you” sunlight, she saw it for the first time with him. The morning that came where she did not rush to escape, dwelling deeper into the darkness awaiting for the stars to rise, instead she listened to the birdsong that was long forgotten. Hope, burning like an inferno that refused to die, that was what she came to understand; the belief, there was more to this life than merely breathing.
“Dance with me, in our home, till the stars come out && we can talk underneath the moonlight - just like before, but this time, there’s a tomorrow”
