Brewery Tours: Explore Top Breweries and Uncover the Art of Craft Beer
The world of craft beer is as diverse as it is delicious, with each brewery offering its own unique take on brewing. Whether you're a seasoned beer enthusiast or just beginning to explore the world of craft brews, brewery tours provide a fantastic opportunity to dive deeper into the art and science behind your favorite beers. From the malty richness of stouts to the crisp refreshment of lagers, here's a guide to some of the top breweries to explore and what you can expect on your tour.
The Craft Beer Revolution
Over the past few decades, the craft beer movement has grown from a niche hobby to a global phenomenon. Independent breweries have sprung up around the world, each bringing their own creativity and passion to the brewing process. This explosion of creativity has led to a stunning variety of beer styles, flavors, and experiences, making it an exciting time to be a beer lover.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. – Chico, California
Located in the heart of California, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is a pioneer in the American craft beer movement. Founded in 1980, this brewery is known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation. On their brewery tour, you'll get an in-depth look at the brewing process, from the selection of hops to the fermentation tanks. The tour typically ends with a tasting session in their taproom, where you can sample their flagship Pale Ale and seasonal releases.
Dogfish Head Brewery – Milton, Delaware
Dogfish Head is renowned for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing with its innovative and often experimental beers. Their brewery tour is as eclectic as their beer offerings. Visitors can explore the brewing facility, which includes a custom-made steampunk treehouse and a room dedicated to aging beers in wooden barrels. The tour finishes with a tasting of their latest creations, including their famous 60 Minute IPA and other limited-edition brews.
Guinness Storehouse – Dublin, Ireland
For those looking to explore the rich history of beer, the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin is a must-visit. This iconic brewery has been producing its world-famous stout since 1759. The tour takes you through seven floors of interactive exhibits, detailing the brewing process and the brand's history. The highlight of the tour is the Gravity Bar, where you can enjoy a perfectly poured pint of Guinness while taking in panoramic views of Dublin.
Stone Brewing – Escondido, California
Stone Brewing is known for its bold and hoppy beers, and their brewery in Escondido offers one of the most comprehensive tours in the industry. The tour includes a behind-the-scenes look at their brewing process, from the milling of the grains to the bottling line. Stone's commitment to sustainability is also evident throughout the tour, with their on-site organic farm and solar-powered brewing facility. The tour concludes with a tasting of their most popular beers, including the Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard Ale.
Weihenstephan Brewery – Freising, Germany
As the oldest brewery in the world, Weihenstephan Brewery offers a unique glimpse into centuries-old brewing traditions. Located in Freising, Germany, this brewery has been producing beer since 1040. The tour takes you through the historical brewing halls and modern production facilities, providing insight into the meticulous brewing techniques that have been perfected over nearly a millennium. The tour ends with a tasting of their classic Hefeweissbier and other traditional Bavarian beers.
The Alchemist – Stowe, Vermont
The Alchemist is a small, family-run brewery that has gained a cult following for its hazy, hop-forward IPAs. Their flagship beer, Heady Topper, is widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world. The brewery tour offers a rare opportunity to see the brewing process up close and learn about their unique approach to brewing. The tour ends with a tasting session, where you can sample Heady Topper and other limited-release beers.
What to Expect on a Brewery Tour
Brewery tours typically offer a behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process, giving you a better understanding of what goes into making your favorite beers. Most tours include:
An Overview of Ingredients: Learn about the key ingredients used in brewing, such as malt, hops, yeast, and water.
The Brewing Process: See how these ingredients are transformed into beer through mashing, boiling, fermenting, and conditioning.
Tasting Sessions: Most tours conclude with a tasting session, where you can sample a selection of the brewery’s offerings. This is a great opportunity to discover new flavors and styles.
Knowledgeable Guides: Experienced guides will walk you through the process, offering insights into the brewery's history, brewing techniques, and the story behind each beer.
Tips for a Great Brewery Tour Experience
Book in Advance: Popular breweries often require reservations, especially during peak seasons. Be sure to book your tour in advance to secure your spot.
Pace Yourself: With so many delicious beers to try, it can be tempting to indulge. Remember to pace yourself, especially if you're visiting multiple breweries in one day.
Ask Questions: Don’t be shy about asking questions during the tour. The guides are there to share their knowledge and passion for beer.
Designate a Driver: If you're visiting multiple breweries, consider designating a driver or using a ride-sharing service to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Whether you're interested in the history of brewing or eager to discover the latest innovations, there's a brewery tour out there for you. Whether you are a hiker, a beachgoer, or a do-nothing-er; this guide helps you choose your perfect spot. By: Paul Healy | Published: 12 Apr 2024 span box-shadow: none !important; filter: brightness(1) !important; ]]> With 95 miles of coastline and 185 million years in the making, the Jurassic Coast is a geological marvel, a scenic refresher and a hiker’s paradise. Finding where to stay on the Jurassic Coast is just the start of a great escape to some of the best coastal activities the UK has to offer. Spend an afternoon in rejuvenation mode either hiking along rugged white clifftops or lazing on pebble beaches below them. Take in the Jurassic Coast light via a sunrise excursion to a decaying castle, or under the exposed lightbulbs of a hipster brewery producing artisanal ales. The Jurassic Coast is a 2-hour drive from one end to the other, so it’s important to understand where you want to stay. Pick from a stylish clifftop hotel staring, a shepherd’s hut, a cool treehouse or a traditional pub in a remote location. Whatever accommodation you are after, our guide to the best hotels on the Dorset Coast includes all the regions along the Jurassic Coast to help you plan your next long weekend in the UK. 1 – PURBECK PENINSULA Best place to stay on the Jurassic Coast for superb hikes and dramatic scenery The Purbeck Peninsula is a sixty square mile patch of England, jutting out into the English Channel and bordered on three sides by water. Nowhere along the Jurassic Coast is the scenery more dramatic than in the Purbeck Peninsula. Towering white cliffs and mighty stacks of rock drop precipitously to the sea. Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Old Harry Rocks – the iconic sights of the south of England – are scattered across the peninsula, connected by scenic hikes on the Jurassic Coast. Just inland, the exceptionally photogenic Corfe Castle and several abandoned villages, add to the remote feel of the region. There are some great Dorset Coastal hotels on the Isle of Purbeck. Remote pubs all alone on the southwest coastal path, grand hotels in charming market towns or a bit of luxury along the bay in Studland. OSMINGTON MILLS SMUGGLERS INN The remote pub with traditionally furnished rooms perched right on the coastal path has stunning views over a rugged stretch of the Dorset coast. BOOKING.COM WAREHAM PRIORY HOTEL A grand hotel in the charming town of Wareham, the Priory Hotel is set within 4 acres of beautiful English cottage gardens. VRBO.COM 2 – LYME REGIS Best place to stay on the Jurassic Coast for a hip and welcoming seaside town There are a few seaside towns along the Jurassic Coast, but the pick of the bunch is Lyme Regis. Unlike some of the tourist-driven towns on the coast, Lyme Regis capitalises on the character of the area. Independent shops stocked with local produce line the high street beside quality restaurants and surprisingly good coffee. The Lyme Regis micro-brewery perched over a tiny brook is a secret worth knowing about. Down on the front, the part shingle, part sandy beach bends in an arc backed with colourful huts and cute townhouses. It’s a lovely, authentic town with a working harbour that still clamours with activity in the early hours as fishermen head out to sea. A little further afield, take part in a fossil-hunting expedition at Charmouth or enjoy a circular walk around the weird rock formations of West Bay. The barrel-vaulted, 14th Century Chapel at Abbotsbury is as traditionally English as you could h
ope to find. LYME REGIS CLOVELLY GUEST HOUSE Great value guest house in the centre of Lyme Regis with help-yourself breakfast and very friendly hosts. The perfect Dorset welcome. BOOKING.COM LYME REGIS COVERDALE A comfortable and spacious 1 bedroom apartment located just 450 metres from the beach, this is a great choice if you’re planning on making the most of the beach. BOOKING.COM | HOTELS.COM 3 – DORCHESTER Best place to stay on the Jurassic Coast for a charming market town with easy connections If you want to explore all the things to do on the Jurassic Coast then Dorchester is a great option. Centrally located between the Purbeck peninsula and Lyme Regis, it’s a great base to explore most of the main attractions on the coast. But as the capital of Dorset, Dorchester has its own appeal as well. The High Street is lined with grand and imposing architecture, excellent restaurants and museums. Perhaps more importantly, there’s good coffee at Coffee Saloon. As a major centre, it has a good range of accommodation from top quality B&B’s to grand Jurassic Coast hotels in landmark buildings. Dorchester is a great option for accommodation on the Dorset coast. In less than an hour’s drive you can be at many of the best spots anywhere along the coast. DORCHESTER DUCHESS OF CORNWALL Classic market town hotel with a Georgian theme, modern amenities and beautiful decor. The Duchess of Cornwall is a classy stay on the Dorset coast. BOOKING.COM 4 – DESTINATION STAYS Best Jurassic Coast hotels and innovative stays which are the attraction in themselves The Jurassic Coast has its fair share of quirky accommodation; places so good it hardly matters that you’re also in one of the most scenic parts of the country. Go off-grid in a well-equipped and cosy Shepherds’ Hut set in the Dorset countryside, or unwind in stylish, quirky accommodation overlooking the sea. For something completely different, escape to the outdoor luxury accommodation of a treehouse; a unique stay on the Jurassic Coast and a memorable way to unwind. Growler Beer Tap By Legacy
This is the Legacy Growler Beer Tap, it’s been designed to allow you to enjoy draft beers in the comfort of your own home, or shed/garage/basemen/treehouse/doghouse, and it has a capacity of 64 oz which works out to approximately four standard US pints. For the uninitiated, a growler is a large container for beer which is typically filled directly from the tap at a bar or brewery. The name is…

When visiting Massachusetts, I had to get my hands on some @treehousebrewco. Their highly regarded and incredibly sought after beers are big hazy IPAs that are absolute juice bombs. They make other styles as well, but the juice is what they’re known for. In addition to being rated as one of America’s best breweries, they are also hard to find. Their beers are only available at the brewery itself or through a few select pick up locations throughout the state. Cheers to an absolute treat @visitma. #treehouse #ipa #juice #beer #craftbeer #hazyipa #america #usa #massachusetts #julius #green #hazy #seasonedplate #travel @mabrewersguild (at Treehouse Brewing) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm0NQcitLM8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Does Colorado Have Any Destination Breweries? Does It Need to?
Does Colorado Have Any Destination Breweries? Does It Need to?
Last October, my wife and I took a bucket-list beer tour of New England. Although we spent plenty of time leaf-peeping, lobster roll-eating and taking in the sights and sounds of Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire, our entire route was dictated by the breweries we wanted to visit. Some were easy to reach, but others required a fair bit of driving — taking us down roads that we would never have…

So I've tried to make a worthy post for it, taking inspiration from the iconic King Biggie image, and adding some King JJJulius bling! 🤴 King JJJulius is an anniversary version of the already excellent King Julius with extra hops added to create some intense flavors of tropical fruits with a creamy mouthfeel, and just enough bitterness on the finish to remind you that it's a DIPA and not a big can of juice! 😄 Thanks again to Young Skywalker for sharing this excellent brew! #beerfriendsarethebestfriends! 🍻🍻🍻 Be Well! Day 169: Saturday June 18, 2022 - “Buffalo to Boston”
A hop filled road led us through Upstate New York, and the capital of the Empire State where we found a great brewery called Fort Orange, where we learned the history of the Orange in the area, while enjoying a Costco-chicken-picnic in the middle of the bartender’s send off party. “Cheers!” We thought maybe this would be the brew-ha-highlight of the day, but oh no- just down the road in Mass. Dad introduced me to the Treehouse - now thats a brewery. Only had time to stand in awe of the greatness of the place, before ordering 12 cans to go that we’d enjoy in our hotel outside Hudson MA that night. “That beer tried to kill me” but I did really enjoy the good Old Man ESB. Resetting outside Boston, I got the gift of reading the stories my parents had written about their recent ramble and remembering all those cool places they had been together earlier in the year as part of Wms birthday present that also include some good Dr. Seuss... William could have cared less - he was on a tear through the hotel room, free from his car seat, and squealing to himself as he played with the AC unit on the wall, the office chair, his cars, and of course some “monkeys on the bed” - thinking a great travel day was in the bag and couldn’t possibly get better, I was proven wrong for a second time....When AC set William down on the bed to sleep, he crawled over and fell asleep on me very intentionally. Thats a first and I was so happy, laying there enjoying it while my parents snored in unison in the next bed over from us.
Song: The Standells - Dirty Water
Quote: “Time is an enormous, long river, and I’m standing in it, just as you’re standing in it. My elders are the tributaries, and everything they thought and every struggle they went through and everything they gave their lives to, and every song they created, and every poem that they laid down flows down to me – and if I take the time to ask, and if I take the time to see, and if I take the time to reach out, I can build that bridge between my world and theirs. I can reach down into that river and take out what I need to get through this world” ― Utah Phillips

what are your fave breweries? how difficult is it to try craft beers from different regions?
hm mayhaps i should not have suggested this ask. but like, breweries that stand out to me are ones that are either 1. doing something different, or 2. are just really pleasant places to be at. for beer, i already said my favorite brewery is trillium (which is in the boston area and barely distributes, so i apologize if you’re not from around here) just because they’re so creative and their stuff is so unique while also being nice to drink and well balanced. then there’s breweries like hermit thrush (which is out of vermont, and they do distribute, but BOY are they expensive even by craft beer standards) and all they do is sours. which first of all takes ages, and second of all they do like, every style under the sun, but sour. that’s AMAZING. even if you don’t like sours you have to appreciate it. then there’s places that i like the beer just fine, it’s good beer, but i would say they’re among my favorite because of the vibe of their location rather than the beers they produce. the two that come immediately to mind are jack’s abbey (outside boston again, sorry) and troegs (hershey, pa) with an honorable mention to cigar city (tampa, fl), but honestly there’s a lot of hole in the wall breweries that also give off this kind of vibe. i think it would be easier if you gave me some particular areas, if you want like, actual recommendations for beer, but this is sort of my general answer
(also jesus i miss breweries so much this is all from the Before Times now i’m a lil sad)
okay, now, difficulty of trying beer from different regions. it. depends. it depends a lot. and it even depends a bit on if you mean beer as in type or beer as in beer from a particular place. so let’s start with beer from a particular place. you’re always going to have better luck finding beer from a particular brewery the closer to the brewery you are, sometimes meaning the only place you can get the beer at all is at the place they make it. i mean, this is USUALLY the case more with either small breweries or particularly sought after beers, but that’s not the rule. like, treehouse, which if you’re into beer is VERY popular and isn’t even particularly small, only sells out of their one location (yes i know about their original location and that they’re building more hush) and has no distribution. so there’s a lot of breweries that you’re just, not gonna have unless you go there or you have someone who can hook you up. so, in that way, it’s quite hard, depending on the brewery.
but on top of that, it can be hard to find certain styles. never impossible, but more difficult. i’m gonna use new england ipas again as an example, just because it’s a bit easier to explain with it. like, you can find neipas outside of new england. sometimes they’re made by new england breweries and distributed, sometimes breweries in your area (or that just distribute to your area) make a version of them, but the likelihood is high that, if that’s what you want and you’re in the us, you’re probably gonna find something. but, because of my previous point, it might be difficult to find a top tier, or in some cases even decent, iteration of the style. so like, the complicated answer to your simple question is that. or, in simpler terms, it depends on what you’re looking for because not all beer is created equal.

For The Oregon Coast Camping Fall Is One Of The Best Time
The county parks are inexpensive then state parks. They simply re-did the camping spots so you have a good, solid place to park find out here. In reality simply around miles away from the coast you’re prone to find cheaper NFS sites in addition to more availability at State Parks. It does get pricy, oceanside camping, and crowded on weekends for certain.
Fall on the coast just isn't the time to put your rig in mothballs for the winter, but rather to get on the market and luxuriate in some great benefits of the season. Take a side journey by way of the formal gardens of the one-time property of timber baron Louis Simpson at Shore Acres State Park. Warmer-than-common temperatures, an eclectic unfold of hikes and a buffer from the breeze make Humbug a pleasing, versatile outdoor vacation spot. Don't miss the superb ocean motion between Cook's Chasm and Devils Churn. Not sure where you plan to remain in Eureka, however we have stayed at Mad River RV Park simply north in Arcata. If there is anyone in your loved ones who enjoys horseback riding, I can fortunately advocate the beach rides out there at C&M Stables near Florence.

Six campsites and three yurts are accessible to campers with disabilities. 7 sites and 1 cabin are accessible to campers with disabilities. The northern-most redwood grove within the U.S. could be found on the end of the Riverview Trail by crossing the North Bank Road and climbing the 1-mile U.S. We will separate into 2 areas these accessed by I-5 these accessed Hwy a hundred and one accessible.
After leaving Tillamook, you will drive another ninety minutes south before reaching the town of Newport. Newport, Oregon, is among the most populated towns on the Oregon coast, so you'll want to replenish on supplies, groceries, and gasoline when you are right here. Each is full of alternative for a wide range of outdoor actions, such as climbing, wildlife viewing, watersports, and extra. There are full hookup websites , water/electric websites including pull-throughs, over a hundred tent websites, and yurts obtainable. The campground has level RV websites, water/electric hookups, bogs, showers, and a dump station. It’s also a brief drive to the local shops and restaurants in Manzanita. Camping with a tent is possible, however you’d be better off towing your camper alongside.
During a keep here, make sure to visit the Military Museum and the ancient stays of the Peter Iredale shipwreck that lies on the seaside. The Oregon Coast camping is full of jaw-dropping vistas and places to explore. It is hardly stunning that there are also some nice campgrounds to be discovered along the shoreline, some rustic and a few with each amenity that you could dream of.

Your Information To Sunriver: Summer Fun, Breweries, Cabins, Adventures And More
That’s why we created an inventory of the seven finest free camping spots in Oregon. We love tenting due to the quiet solitude that comes with it in a place that provokes meditation. Oregon is home to some of the most unbelievable places to visit within the Pacific Northwest.
We didn't have GPS, nor did our cell phones have service to let us know the place we have been. If you prefer to camp in an RV, boondocking in Oregon could be a easy—and enjoyable—method to hold prices down. Boondocking is typically outdoors of developed campsites, meaning there isn't a water or hookups obtainable. Parking in a single day in a parking zone corresponding to a Walmart is sometimes an possibility, however campers must get permission from the store supervisor before doing so. While state parks sometimes charge a charge to remain inside their grounds and make the most of tenting spots, a couple of groups are exempt from this charge.
While not totally free, this can be a nice possibility for folk already planning to check out the on line casino. For more data, name the casino or visit their web site. No matter where you select to remain, you'll be sure to come back back with nice footage and reminiscences of this incredible shoreline. One factor to remember is that the beachfront sites do not have water and electric hookups.
Hares Canyon Horse Camp
Besides RV and tent sites, in addition they have cabins for hire by the night, week or month. Robbin’s Nest RV Parkis situated simply south of Bandon on Highway 101.
