if anyone who struggles to eat because of digestive issues has words of advice on how to eat more (*for the purpose of having energy + gaining weight), i'd love to hear them.
i have weird yet mild (undiagnosed?) stomach issues, probably due to the small hiatal hernia my GI found. 90% of what i eat triggers the symptoms- my best guess is that physically filling food is the common factor. other than that, my symptoms are basically just acid reflux and the effects of having it chronically for ~9 months 24/7.
im on medication, which lessens most of it, and lemon honey tea has helps. surprisingly, i can eat cherry tomatoes by the handful and the last time i had a banana it was awful and triggering. so if your advice can be found on the first page of a 'foods for acid reflux' google search, uh, no thanks lol.
i also have adhd and an inconsistent taste palate, so im hesitant to start any structured diet or to plan meals days in advance. (but its not completely off the table)

The recovery time after hernia surgery can vary depending on several factors, including the type of hernia, the surgical technique used, and your individual healing process. It's important to note that I'm an AI language model and not a doctor, so for personalized medical advice, it's always best to consult with your healthcare provider.
In general, after hernia surgery, you can expect to gradually resume your normal activities within a few weeks. Here's a general timeline of what you might expect:
Immediately after surgery: You'll likely spend a few hours in the recovery area of the hospital. During this time, medical staff will monitor your vital signs and ensure you're stable.
First few days: It's common to experience some discomfort, pain, or swelling in the surgical area. Your doctor may prescribe pain medications to help manage any post-operative pain. You'll be advised to rest, take it easy, and avoid strenuous activities.
First week: During this time, you'll need to limit physical activity and avoid lifting heavy objects. You may be able to resume light activities, such as walking, but it's important to follow your doctor's instructions and listen to your body.
Second week: If your recovery is progressing well, you may gradually increase your activity level and start performing light exercises as recommended by your doctor. However, you should still avoid heavy lifting and intense physical exertion.
Weeks 3 to 4: By this point, you may be able to resume most of your normal activities, including work (if it doesn't involve heavy lifting or strenuous tasks). However, it's still essential to listen to your body and avoid overexertion.
Remember, the above timeline is a general guideline, and your individual recovery may differ. Your doctor will provide you with specific instructions based on your condition and surgical procedure. It's crucial to attend all follow-up appointments and communicate any concerns or setbacks to your healthcare provider.
Please consult your doctor for personalized advice regarding your hernia surgery recovery and when you can safely resume your normal activities. There are many hospitals and efficient surgeons in Mumbai who perform hernia surgery with great expertise. You may consult the doctors for your queries like duration, benefits, tests, precautions, cost of hernia surgery in Mumbai.

How do you know if you have hernia that needs surgery?
Have you ever wondered if the pain in your stomach or groin might be a hernia? Although symptoms can differ, hernias are frequent in both men and women. Women are far less likely to have groin hernias. Hernias may cause some degree of discomfort and do not go away on their own.
The positive news. Almost all hernias can be treated surgically. Continue reading this article to know the most typical types of hernias, how to spot them in both men and women, and what to expect from surgery and recuperation.
A hernia is what?
The layers of muscle and strong tissue that cover your abdomen let you move and shield inside organs. An opening in this muscular wall, known as a hernia, enables the contents of the abdomen to protrude outward. Hernias are of different types, but the belly or groin region is where they seem to manifest themselves most frequently.
What Does an Abdominal or Belly Hernia (Ventral) Feel Like?
A protrusion along the exterior of the abdomen may be felt or seen if you have a ventral hernia in the belly area. Patients with ventral hernias frequently report feeling pressure, discomfort, or moderate pain in the herniated area. Any activity that strains the abdomen, such as hard lifting, sprinting, or pressing down during bowel motions, makes pain. While some people have a bulge, they are not uncomfortable.
Who is more susceptible to developing a ventral hernia?
A ventral hernia can occur in anyone, although people who have had abdominal surgery are at greater risk. The scar from an abdominal wall disruption incision will never be as resilient as the surrounding tissue. This increases your risk of getting an incisional hernia, which develops along the incision site. Up to 30% of people who undergo open abdominal surgery experience this.
How can an inguinal hernia (groin bulge) be detected?
It’s crucial to recognize that both men and women can get inguinal hernias. People frequently think that only men develop them, and they do have a higher risk due to anatomical factors. Inguinal hernias can, however, occur in women as well.
Since women typically exhibit different symptoms than men do, many specialists concur that there is a good chance that this ailment is under diagnosed in women. Women might not have an obvious bulge. An MRI can offer conclusive proof if symptoms point to a potential hernia but your doctor is unable to confirm it during an examination.
Signs in Men
a visible or tangible bulge
throbbing pain in the area
a feeling of pressure
a feeling of the scrotum tugging on the testicles
actions that put pressure on the area, such as heavy lifting, pushing, or straining, cause pain that gets worse
Signs in Women
Sharp or aching pain
burning feeling
a bulge at the hernia site, while a groin hernia may not have one.
discomfort that gets worse as you move around
What symptoms indicate a hernia emergency?
Internal fat tissue typically pushes through the muscle breach when a hernia first develops. However, it’s also possible for a portion of the bowel to stick out of the opening. Although the likelihood of this is extremely low, if it does occur, urgent repairs are required.
If you have any of these symptoms then get medical help right away.
a throbbing pain that doesn’t go away when you relax or lie down
increasing pain
vomiting and/or nauseous
difficulty going to the bathroom
Bloating
rapid heartbeat
Fever
What can be done to prevent a hernia?
By eating a nutritious diet and exercising, you can keep your optimal body weight.
To prevent constipation, consume adequate fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
When lifting weights or large objects, use proper form. Don’t lift anything that is too heavy for you.
Consult a doctor if you have a cough or sneeze that won’t go away.
Avoid smoking because the habit might cause coughing that can cause a hernia.

Appendix: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment Without Operation
The appendix, a small pouch attached to the large intestine, has long been considered a vestigial organ. While its purpose in the human body remains unclear, problems with the appendix can lead to significant discomfort and complications if not addressed. This blog explores the causes, symptoms, and non-surgical treatments for appendix-related issues, offering insights from Dr. Aniket Zarkar, a leading specialist in Hadapsar, Pune.
What is appendicitis?
Appendicitis occurs when the appendix becomes inflamed, often due to a blockage. If left untreated, it can lead to a rupture, causing life-threatening complications like peritonitis or abscess formation. However, mild cases of appendicitis may be managed without surgery through careful medical intervention.
Causes of Appendicitis
Blockage:
Stool buildup (fecal)
Enlarged lymph nodes
Infections:
Gastrointestinal infections
Viral or bacterial infections causing inflammation
Foreign Material:
Accidental ingestion of seeds or other hard particles
Chronic Conditions:
Rare cases linked to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Symptoms of Appendicitis
The symptoms of appendicitis often vary in severity but typically include:
Abdominal Pain: Starting around the navel and shifting to the lower right abdomen.
Nausea and vomiting often accompany the pain.
Fever: low-grade fever that may worsen over time.
Loss of appetite: Disinterest in food is a common early sign.
Digestive Issues: Constipation or diarrhea, along with bloating or gas.
Tenderness: Pain increases when pressing on the lower right abdomen.
Non-Surgical Treatment Options
For mild or uncomplicated cases, appendicitis can sometimes be treated without surgery. Here are the common approaches:
1. Antibiotic Therapy
Intravenous (IV) or oral antibiotics can effectively reduce inflammation and combat infections in mild cases.
Broad-spectrum antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or metronidazole are commonly used.
2. Pain Management
Over-the-counter painkillers, such as acetaminophen, help manage discomfort.
3. Dietary Adjustments
Light, low-fiber diets may ease symptoms and support recovery.
Avoid foods that can worsen digestive issues.
4. Observation and Monitoring
Patients are closely monitored to ensure symptoms don’t worsen.
Follow-up imaging, such as ultrasound or CT scans, helps assess progress.
5. Lifestyle Modifications
Staying hydrated and resting are critical to recovery.
Avoid strenuous activities that could aggravate the condition.
When to Consider Surgery
While non-surgical treatments can be effective for mild cases, surgery is often necessary if:
Symptoms worsen or persist despite treatment.
There’s a risk of rupture.
An abscess or significant infection develops.
In such cases, Dr. Aniket Zarkar specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic appendectomy, ensuring faster recovery and minimal discomfort.
Preventing Appendicitis
While it’s impossible to prevent appendicitis entirely, maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle can reduce risks. Include:
High-fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Adequate hydration is needed to maintain healthy bowel movements.
Regular check-ups for early detection of digestive issues.
Expert Care with Dr. Aniket Zarkar

4.Hard Lump in the Rectum:
In some cases, a hard lump may form near the anus, indicating an external pile. This lump can be painful to the touch and may feel firm or tender.
