"I didn't think" Travishek "would collapse"
Former Aakash Chopra Indian Copra has caused concern about the recent fights of Sunrizes Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2025. Chopra stated that the loss of three consecutive matches was a serious problem, but added that the team was conducted by Pat Cummins unlikely to change their aggressive approach in the next match. Sunrizers Hyderabad will face the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the International…

📰 Swing while you're winning - KKR 'bowl a touch fuller' to thwart Travishek

[ad_1] IPL Trophy (PC: X) The opening games of IPL 2025 have already set the stage for an electrifying season, with teams showcasing both their strengths and areas needing improvement. Whether it’s explosive batting, clinical bowling, or tactical captaincy, every franchise has made an early statement. But as always, the first match can be a glimpse into what the season holds – or a mere prelude to the drama to come. Let’s take a spicy look at the first impressions of each team in IPL 2025. KKR’s Rollercoaster Ride: Promising Yet Flawed Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2025 opener against RCB showcased both promise and flaws. Ajinkya Rahane’s bold captaincy and high-intent fifty were positives, but the middle order’s struggles against spin were concerning. Despite a seven-over onslaught led by Rahane and Sunil Narine, KKR’s batting lacked depth, with Andre Russell’s continued vulnerability to wrong’uns proving costly. Their bowling, particularly Varun Chakravarthy, was blunted by dew, exposing their reliance on spin. To succeed this season, KKR will need greater middle-order stability and stronger pace options in dewy conditions. RCB’s Sharpened Edge: A Well-Rounded Force Royal Challengers Bengaluru made a powerful statement in their IPL 2025 opener with a clinical all-round display. Josh Hazlewood’s precision with bounce and accuracy rattled KKR’s top order, while Krunal Pandya’s clever variations and Suyash Sharma’s well-timed introduction against Russell highlighted sharp bowling tactics. With the bat, Phil Salt’s aggressive start and Virat Kohli’s composed yet assertive knock kept RCB ahead of the chase. New captain Rajat Patidar’s quick cameo sealed the win, showcasing RCB’s depth and adaptability. Their balance of experience and sharp strategies makes them genuine title contenders. SRH’s Firepower: Explosive but Effective Sunrisers Hyderabad made a dominant statement in their IPL 2025 opener, showcasing their destructive batting lineup. Ishan Kishan’s explosive 45-ball hundred added firepower at No. 3, while the opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, dubbed ‘Travishek,’ set the tone with a blistering 94-run powerplay. On the bowling front, pacers Mohammed Shami and Simarjeet Singh took early wickets, and the strategic use of Pat Cummins and spinners through the middle overs kept Rajasthan Royals in check. SRH’s blend of aggressive batting and tactical bowling makes them a force to reckon with this season. It was a record breaking day indeed A day etched in history Ishan Kishan | #PlayWithFire | #SRHvRR | #TATAIPL2025 pic.twitter.com/CKugERmxC7 — SunRisers Hyderabad (@SunRisers) March 25, 2025 RR’s Fightback: Battling but Not Enough Rajasthan Royals put up a spirited fight against SRH in their IPL 2025 opener, with Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel’s 111-run partnership providing hope during a challenging chase. Samson’s return as Impact Player and Jurel’s aggressive batting were positives, but RR’s bowling struggled significantly. Jofra Archer’s costly return and the decision to field Maheesh Theekshana over Wanindu Hasaranga backfired, exposing a lack of control in their pace attack. While their batting showed resilience, RR must quickly address their bowling issues to contend with top teams like SRH. CSK’s Dominance: Balanced, Strong, and Ready Chennai Super Kings showcased their well-rounded squad in IPL 2025 with a dominant win over Mumbai Indians, thanks to their off-season bowling acquisitions. Noor Ahmad’s sensational 4 for 18 and Khaleel Ahmed’s 3 for 29 were instrumental in dismantling MI’s top order. With the bat, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 53 off 26 balls set the tone, while Rachin Ravindra’s composed 65* off 45 balls anchored the chase. Despite a brief slowdown by Vignesh Puthur, Ravindra Jadeja’s experience ensured a smooth finish. CSK’s balance of spin, pace, and depth with the bat makes them strong contenders this season. MI’s Struggles: Individual Brilliance Not Enough Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2025 campaign began poorly, with their batting undone by CSK’s disciplined attack.
The early wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton stifled any aggressive powerplay, and a middle-order fightback led by Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav was curtailed by Noor Ahmad’s brilliance. MI’s total of 155 was insufficient, with only Deepak Chahar offering resistance. In defence of it, debutant Vignesh impressed with three wickets, but MI’s experienced bowlers, including Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner, failed to deliver. Overall, MI’s reliance on individual brilliance and lack of consistency with both bat and ball leaves them vulnerable. Ashutosh Sharma in action (Image: IPL/BCCI) DC’s Statement: A Thrilling Win with Depth Delhi Capitals announced their IPL 2025 presence with a thrilling one-wicket win under new captain Axar Patel, highlighted by Ashutosh Sharma’s match-winning 66 off 31 balls. The management’s decision to make him the Impact Player paid off, while debutant Vipraj Nigam’s 39 off 15 balls added crucial momentum. Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav’s combined brilliance with the ball restricted LSG’s charge, giving DC a fighting chance. Despite a top-order collapse, the lower order’s aggressive intent and Axar’s calm captaincy led them to victory, showcasing DC’s batting depth, all-rounders, and finishing firepower. LSG’s Power-Hitting: A Cracking Start, but Not Enough Lucknow Super Giants will have mixed feelings after their game, proud of their explosive power-hitting but concerned about their inability to close out games. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran’s destructive 147-run partnership set a thrilling pace, but their failure to sustain momentum in the death overs, managing only 48 runs in the final seven, proved costly. While Shardul Thakur’s early breakthroughs and debutant Digvesh Rathi’s key wicket provided hope, their death bowling lacked precision. LSG’s strength lies in their batting and early bowling, but they need to address their lack of composure in finishing games to be title contenders. PBKS’s Bold Beginning: Fearless and Strong Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, made a bold statement in IPL 2025 with a dominant win, showcasing power-hitting and clinical death bowling. Iyer’s 97 off 42 balls anchored the innings with composure and selflessness, while debutant Priyansh Arya’s fearless strokeplay and Shashank Singh’s explosive cameo added depth to their batting. The Impact Player strategy paid off with Vijaykumar Vyshak’s precise death bowling restricting Gujarat’s late-order hitters. With a flexible batting order, sharp bowling, and a captain prioritising team goals, PBKS have signalled their intent as serious playoff contenders. Shreyas Iyer and Vijaykumar Vyshak for PBKS vs GT in the IPL 2025 (PC: IPL) GT’s Off Day: Brilliant Batting, But Bowling Issues Defending champions Gujarat Titans faced a rare off day despite moments of brilliance, notably Sai Sudharsan’s 74 off 41 and Jos Buttler’s fifty, which kept them in the chase. However, their bowling lacked the sharpness that led them to the title, with Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada struggling for control, conceding runs in both powerplay and death overs. Despite a strong middle-order surge, they faltered in the final overs, with Vyshak’s precision at the death denying them a late comeback. While their batting depth remains a strength, GT will need more consistency from their bowlers under pressure. The IPL 2025 season is off to a thrilling start, with every franchise making an impression in their opening games. While some have solidified their potential as title contenders, others have shown glimpses of what they can achieve but also revealed areas that need immediate attention. As the competition intensifies, each team will need to adapt and evolve. Only time will tell if in this case, first impressions will eventually be the last impression, or if they turn out to be deceptive. india: vk, hardik, rishabh, yashasvi
Oh wait, we also discussed Abhishek Sharma would also be omega, and Yash would have a brief fallout with him about Shub. We also said that Abhi would have quite an easy life, since Shub is his best friend nobody would mess with him, and I think we paired him up with Travis (Head), so we concluded his love life wouldn't be too bad either. 😅😆
Ngl, I really hope SRH feed us with some cute Travishek moments this IPL so I can squeal and gush about them! 😂🤭
Re other teams, I can see Shaheen being omega! Actually, Shaheen x Shubman is quite a ship. They've been at each other's throats, sledging and fighting since their U-19 days, so it's classic enemies to lovers. In an AU where Shubman x Yash doesn't happen, I can totally see Shubman x Shaheen happen as a bit of VK x Pat 2.0. Their boards match them for a marriage and bonding to improve Indo-Pak relations.
For South Africa, Quinton has a face that screams omega to me, so he can be one? 😆 And for diversity, maybe Miller?
Ahh yes - forgot about Abhi. That’s all correct with Travis as well :)
Hmm, I think Quinton is more beta, even possibly aloha but Ill give him beta. David the same I don’t really see him as omega…
Now Aiden Markram could be omega

Um, Jos/Yuzi and Virat/Maxwell are definitely popular IPL ships, but those have been going on since atleast the previous editions, if not since the even earlier ones.
If we're restricting ourselves to the current ipl... Idk if anyone else but me ships it, but thoughts on Travis Head/Abhishek Sharma? 🙈🙈 I think they'll be cute together . They open the batting for SRH and they've had quite a few destructive partnerships. Also, the official SRH account ran a poll or something, inviting fans to suggest a name for their pair. The winner was the name "Travishek" 🤣 Thoughts on this pair?
Ahahahah fair - yeah those are ones I know of, I’m also a fan of Jos/Trent 🫶
Ohh, I’d have to look up some clips/pics of them to pass judgement but sounds interesting!

we could definitely go with that idea! even though the thought of mcsweeney pursuing virat is incredibly funny it's certainly not impossible
why is mcsweeney pursuing virat funny?
also, i may be writing a sam x vk fic with this plot on ao3 👀🫣
oh just bc he's a real quiet and sensible guy, not really the sort of type to pursue anyone for competition let alone virat kohli
#i don't even think he'd know where to start seducing someone#also i would be very interested in a sam/vk fic! i have a travishek from ages ago i need to read too

SRH vs LSG 2024
SRH vs DC 2024
Srh vs Rcb'24 too. Heady had a sick century there. Actually all of these 3 games are remarkable. In the lsg game, srh broke the record of chasing highest no of runs (166 odd in 9.4 overs, with 10 wickets left). In the Dc one, they made the highest no of runs in powerplay, 125 runs. In the rcb game, they broke their own record of highest no of runs scored in ipl.
I was pretty stoked actually, and got quite sad when they couldn't score against kkr in the playoffs and final. Gurbaz keeping might truly be Head's kryptonite. Nonetheless, it was a pretty good run and I am glad I tuned in to this year's ipl.🤙
oooh hohoho very nice! srh was truly off the shits this year huh

any headcanons for travis/abhishek? im feral for that ship, and until you answered that ask i thought i was the only one!! 😭
ahh omg it makes me a little feral too!! i think partly because travis isn't really a guy who has cross country ships, though that might change very quickly if he keeps doing ipl 😅
i don't have many specific headcanons because i haven't caught up on them fully (thankyou to the kind anon who filled in a lot of blanks for me though ❤️) but i do like to imagine that going into the ipl abhishek hated travis a little for his batting in the world cup and had to be won over
of course he also loved travis a little for his batting in the world cup too but he would never admit that
it ended up a bit of a game with travis doing anything and everything he could think of to woo abhi, because he's a likeable guy dammit!! equally abhi would be stubbornly refusing to let travis win again 🙄😒 clearly it worked out in the end though, they built an amazing partnership 😉
the only other loose headcanon i have is trav learning from abhi as much as abhi learned from trav! not in terms of batting but about the ipl and even india more generally - because travis hasn't played very much ipl, and that was a long time ago anyway. like this line from cricinfo just gets me a little you know?
#i'm so glad there's at least one other travishek shipper out there lmaoo#we can be a little two man army#i need to find some little moments of theirs to gif...#if you can think of any good ones please let me know!!

Lmaoooo Rovis shippers are getting out of hand day by day 😂😂😂
The audio is from an old Hindi song called Kajra Mohabbat wala... It's from the 1960s/70s I believe? Anyways, so first up, Travis sings, "Duniya hai mere piche, lekin mai tere peeche, apna bana le meri jaan! haaye re main tere qurbaan!" It means, "The world is after me, but I'm after you, make me yours, my lord. I'm all yours now." Then Rohit says, "Kajra mohabbat wala, akhiyon mein aisa daala, kajre ne leli meri jaan!" It means, "So seductive was the kohl (eyeliner) of love, that she painted her eyes with, that eyeliner took my life!"
Also, although I love the Rovis edits on Instagram, but I'm a bit disappointed there's no Travishek edits like that. You're missing a gem of a ship, editors!
omfg i LOVE that!!
look out! wishing for content of a ship is a slippery slope into becoming an editor yourself 😅

how many indo-aus ships have we got in total, leaving aside vk ships because that's a whole different beast of its own? 🤭
pujara/patty can also make a good ship especially if you count the 2020/21 bgt. the way patty went after pujara in the final gabba match... 🤕🤕🤕 and if i didn't ship travishek so hard, there's definitely some water in pat/abhi.
marnus/siraj also makes for a spicy ship. so does marnus/rana, especially after their battles in the 2024/25 bgt. thoughts?
like with pujara, i'm gonna consider tim paine as a current player and add the ship of tim/rishabh, they're peak rivals to lovers 😭😭🤌🏻🤌🏻 rishabh/lyon is also a great ship. rishabh/patty is underrated, but has potential. from the ipl, rishabh and jake fraser-mcgurk were very cute together in this ipl, and i'm gonna count rishabh/ricky and rishabh/david as valid ships since one half of both is a current player. 🤭 frankly speaking, rishabh seems to be going the vk way, he's very shippable with the aussie players! that's okay, someone has to keep the tradition going!
tim paine with ashwin deserves a mention after "can't wait to get you to the gabba ash." 🤭🤭
um if you consider warner as a current player then him and bhuvaneshwar kumar were so so cute together in the ipl when they played for srh! 🫶🏻🫶🏻 i think this was from 2016/17-2020 ish? need to check up on the timelines but they definitely played together for a good 5-6 years.
shubman/starcy makes for great enemies to lovers in my mind. prior to the 2024 bgt, starcy had never ever dismissed shub in tests lol. 😜 this is a very personal crackship, but i feel shubman/greenie would be great together! no particular reason, well, except maybe that I tend to ship shubman with everyone 😅😅 thoughts?
what's the count now? 😅
excellent additions!! if i counted right that's 32 now!

[ad_1] Image: IPL The opening games of IPL 2025 have already set the stage for an electrifying season, with teams showcasing both their strengths and areas needing improvement. RR’s Fightback: Battling but Not Enough Rajasthan Royals put up a spirited fight against SRH in their IPL 2025 opener, with Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel’s 111-run partnership providing hope during a challenging chase.
DC’s Statement: A Thrilling Win with Depth Delhi Capitals announced their IPL 2025 presence with a thrilling one-wicket win under new captain Axar Patel, highlighted by Ashutosh Sharma’s match-winning 66 off 31 balls. GT’s Off Day: Brilliant Batting, But Bowling Issues Defending champions Gujarat Titans faced a rare off day despite moments of brilliance, notably Sai Sudharsan’s 74 off 41 and Jos Buttler’s fifty, which kept them in the chase. [ad_1] SRH openers will be a headache for opposition bowlers. (Source: X.com) Last year’s finalists, Sunrisers Hyderabad, will be out to make amends for their disappointing batting collapse that denied them their first IPL title since 2016. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, who thrives in high-pressure situations, SRH will look to ignite their fans with a revamped squad featuring some stellar names. In IPL 2024, SRH had an exceptional league stage, finishing second. However, they faltered in the crucial knockout matches, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1 and then in the final. Last season, they set the tournament alight with their ultra-aggressive batting approach, surpassing 250 runs on three occasions. This time, with new additions, they aim to take that approach a notch higher. SRH have retained the core of their star performers, including Cummins — the only overseas captain this season — along with Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen. They then splashed Rs 44.8 crore at the auction to bring in 15 more players, assembling a well-rounded squad. With that, here’s a detailed breakdown of SRH’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats ahead of IPL 2025. SRH Squad for IPL 2025 Pat Cummins (c), Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head, Mohammad Shami, Harshal Patel, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Chahar, Adam Zampa, Atharva Taide, Abhinav Manohar, Simarjeet Singh, Zeeshan Ansari, Jaydev Unadkat, Kamindu Mendis, Aniket Verma, Eshan Malinga, Sachin Baby, Wiaan Mulder. SRH Squad for the IPL 2025 (PC: SRH/X) Strengths ● Travishek: All of SRH’s top five batters have had a strike rate of over 150 in T20s since 2024. Their opening duo, Travis Head (SR 192) and Abhishek Sharma (SR 204) in IPL 2024, was nothing short of sensational. ● Middle-Order Powerhouse: Following them is the dynamic Ishan Kishan, who, despite averaging just 25 since 2024, has maintained a strike rate of over 150. South African Heinrich Klaasen, who has nearly 5,000 T20 runs, has been a nightmare for spinners, averaging 50 at a strike rate of 180+ against them. His IPL strike rate (174) and average (44) in the last two seasons make him one of SRH’s biggest assets. ● Lower Middle-order: Local boy Nitish Reddy brings composure while still striking at 150 since 2024. Additionally, Abhinav Manohar, Sachin Baby, Atharva Taide and Kamindu Mendis provide solid middle-order options. ● World-Class Captaincy: With Pat Cummins, SRH have an international title-winning captain who had already led them to the IPL final on his captaincy debut in the league. ● Dream Pace Attack: SRH boast a lethal pace line-up, featuring Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel (two-time Purple Cap winner), Jaydev Unadkat and Wiaan Mulder. Weaknesses ● Limited Spin Depth: While Rahul Chahar and Adam Zampa provide quality, SRH lack experienced back-up spinners. Zeeshan Ansari, their only reserve, has little to no experience in T20 cricket. ● Death Bowling Concerns: With T Natarajan’s departure, SRH lack a proven death-over specialist, which could prove costly in crunch moments. Harshal, despite his experience, has struggled on flat pitches. ● Cummins’ Fitness Uncertainty: Their captain’s availability remains uncertain, as he is still recovering from an injury and has only recently resumed bowling. SRH players celebrating (SRH X) Opportunities ● Platform for Youngsters: With a strong mix of experienced and emerging talent, this is a golden chance for young players to step up and take responsibility. ● Ishan Kishan’s Comeback: The former Mumbai Indians star has been off the radar lately, and IPL 2025 presents the perfect stage for him to reclaim his form. He scored back-to-back fifties in SRH’s intra-squad matches; 23-ball 64, and a rapid 73-run knock in just 30 balls. Threats ● Lack of Bench Strength: SRH has only 20 players in their squad (out of a possible 25), making them vulnerable to injuries. A lack of quality back-ups means they will rely heavily on their starting XI to remain fit and consistent.
● Injury-Prone Key Players: Both Cummins and Shami have struggled with injuries. If either is sidelined, SRH’s bowling attack could suffer a major setback. ● Over-Reliance on Batting Firepower: With a weak death-bowling line-up, SRH might be forced to depend on their batters to score 250 and above regularly — a risky game plan. Final Thoughts On paper, SRH have a well-balanced squad with a fearsome batting line-up and a strong pace attack. However, the lack of depth and injury-prone players could derail their title charge before it even gains momentum. If they can stay fit and maintain consistency, they have the firepower to reach the playoffs and possibly go all the way. Probable XI Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhinav Manohar, Pat Cummins (c), Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, Rahul Chahar. Impact sub: Kamindu Mendis The post Explosive batting and a squad rejigged: SRH eye IPL Glory appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. [ad_2] Source link
