Breathing Space Found on the Coastline of Route 1

Voyaged down Route 1 to Half Moon Bay from the City.  First stop along the coast was Barbara's Fishtrap.  An impressive line stood in front of their take out window.  Braylan, my food companion for the day, and I went into the small red wooded shack to inquire about the table wait.  "30 - 45 minutes" the host announced.  We put our names on the list and decided to walk to Half Moon Bay Brewing Company to try out some beer and maybe find an appetizer to settle our grumbling bellies.  We both sat down with a beer that was good but I now forget.  But the one thing I could not forget was the big juicy oysters...MMMM! Delicious indeed especially with a dash of lemon.  

Our time was up at the brewery and we wandered back to Barbara's where we were seated.  We gazed over the menu.  Everything looked amazing.  I settled on a crab sandwich (unfortunately,no photo available at the moment).  The simple sandwich held its flavor well and the delectable white meat of the crab paired with a slice of tomato between two slices of sourdough bread kept me satisfied and in love with the freshness of all the ingredients; which did not travel far to arrive at this restaurant(sea to restaurant/local market to restaurant).  There was no sauce to overwhelm the crab sandwich and it also didn't need any sauce because the crab held its natural flavor with the seasonings it naturally receives from living in the ocean.  Also, the salt that the crab may acquire from life in the salty ocean was not overwhelming to dry your mouth and leave you dehydrated.  

If it is fresh seafood which you are craving, I would definitely recommend Barbara's.  It also does not hurt that Barbara's is right by the ocean and close to some beautiful beaches.  The beach we spent time at is close to the Hyatt of Half Moon Bay.  Beach is public so no worries about spending money at Hyatt for entrance.
