By the time we hiked down the hill from Author's Seat it was dark. We stopped at The Pipers restaurant which had live music. We were lucky to get a seat because we didn't have reservations. I really enjoyed listening to live music while we ate. That was one of the things I enjoyed most on our Scotland Vacation.

The Royal Mile in Edinburgh Scotland

Yes, very crowded with tourists. The Queen's mile or Royal Mile is famous because this street is the one the monarchs used to go to the castle. Even Queen Mary of Scots came this way. If you listen hard you can hear someone playing the bagpipes.

Lake Sørvágsvatn & Bøsdalafossur Waterfall - Vágar, Faroe Islands 2023

This is a panorama showing the end of the Lake Sørvágsvatn (or Lake Leitisvatn) and Bøsdalafossur waterfall. The famous lake, also known as the "Lake Above the Ocean" or "Floating Lake", is one of the top natural sights in Faroe Islands. And although, positioned closely to the ocean with only 38 m above sea level, it is prevented from fully draining into the ocean by the greater height of the surrounding cliff. Bøsdalafossur is the waterfall flowing from the lake into the Atlantic Ocean.

Nearby is Trælanípa cliff which translates into Slave Cliff. It is said that, in the Viking Age, slaves who were unable to work were pushed into the ocean from this 142 meters tall vertical rock. Standing on top of this cliff will make the lake look as if it floats above the North Atlantic ocean.

The lake is situated on the same island as the airport, Vágar Island, so it's possible to see it from the airplane just before landing into Faroe Islands.
