#Repost @humanrightscampaign ・・・ #Repost via @hrcgreaterphila ・・・ On and around this day, Nov. 20, across the world, people gather in solidarity to mourn those who have been victims of anti-trans violence, and to ensure that their lives, and deaths, are not forgotten. Transgender Day of Remembrance allows us to call attention to the continued violence and discrimination transgender people face every day. Please join us to honor the lives of those we have lost as we continue to work toward justice and equality for transgender people. #transvisibility #transwk #TDoR

Along with the joy of seeing family and friends, holidays can be a time when parents and caregivers of transgender, non-binary and other gender-expansive kids need to negotiate issues around their child’s gender. To help you prepare, we’ve created a three-part video series hosted by Gender Spectrum’s Lisa Kenney and Pamela Wool.

From Stonewall to S.T.A.R., Sylvia to the shot glass heard ‘round the world, Marsha P. Johnson was a trailblazer and will always be an icon in the LGBTQ community. 💜💙✊

As Transgender Awareness Week draws to a close as we begin to enter Shabbat, I pray that all marginalized people are protected and empowered, loved and happy. It is my hope and prayer that we as Jews will always stand up for the rights of people of all genders. Moving into 2017 and beyond, let us all continue to fight for peace and justice.

#Repost @lavernecox with @repostapp ・・・ Love this for Trans Awareness Week #transweek #transwk. #TransIsBeautiful @Regrann from @lgbt_history - Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (S.T.A.R.) contingent lead the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade, New York City, June 24, 1973. Photo by Leonard Fink. While there is no question that trans women helped lead the Stonewall Riots and helped found the gay liberation groups that formed in the wake of the riots, transphobia was always present in the movement; increased visibility--and assimilationism--only made it worse. Organizers of the 1973 Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade, for example, attempted to exclude members of the trans community, including S.T.A.R. house co-founders Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera; Johnson and Rivera, activists to the core, responded by simply marching in front (i.e., at the head) of the parade. During the rally in Washington Square Park after the parade, Rivera famously took to the stage to address the LGB communities' treatment of the trans community: "You all better quiet down. I've been trying to get up here all day...But, do you do anything for me? No. You tell me to go and hide my tail between my legs. I will not put up with this shit. I have been beaten. I have had my nose broken. I have been thrown in jail. I have lost my job. I have lost my apartment for gay liberation and you all treat me this way? What the fuck's wrong with you all?...The people are trying to do something for all of us, and not men and women that belong to a white, middle-class white club. And that’s what you all belong to! Revolution now! ... Gay Power! Louder!" #lgbthistory #HavePrideInHistory #TransAwarenessWeek #RememberTheT #Regrann

👏 Sarah McBride made history when she spoke at the Democratic National Convention this year, becoming the first openly trans person to speak at a major party convention.
She continues to be a role model for the LGBTQ community, and we applaud her and all activists who work to make progress possible. #TransWeek 🌈
