#translation is impactful enough on prose reading poetry in translation with the original beside it is making it very apparent how much#is lost like even just in things like meter/rhyme/alliteration#and in the potential different connotative nuances of what words the translators choose#especially if they do try to pick ones that preserve the form/syntax better#so many extra layers of subjective interpretation and priority trade-offs i wish i could just understand the originalssss lol
