ngl i think the most ignorant thing you can say about foreign music as an english speaker is that you ‘dont understand the lyrics’ as an excuse to not listen to it.

if you dont like the vocals, fine. if you dont like the instrumentals, fine. if you dont like the beat, fine. those are legit reasons based on your personal taste.

but saying you ‘dont understand the lyrics’ just tells people that you arent willing to expand your horizons beyond your immediate and base understanding.

do you understand every english speaking song? do you understand the meaning behind every english lyric & harmony choice? do you understand every double meaning of an english phrase?

unless you’re the composer, you will never fully ‘understand’ any song, english or not. to remain willfully ignorant of foreign music on that basis is to deprive yourself of the beauty and fun of other cultures, and to stay in your own little bubble where nothing can challenge you and what you ‘understand’.

…it also tells ppl that you’re a lazy fuck who can’t be bothered to do a simple google or youtube search for translated lyrics.

i've said this once already but genuinely what the qsmp managed to do with bringing ccs together from several different countries is insane. like imagine if the qsmp never happend, baghera and forever would have never met and become good friends in such a short time. slimecicle and elmariana would have never met and both wanted to overcome language barriers to become even better friends. like quackity managed to pull people that speak french, english, portuguese and spanish into one server and still have them all come out as friends and close. it's insane. i genuinely don't think anyone else could have done something like that in such a short amount of time with such results like quackity and the qsmp did

green oak is an accidental polyglot, he speaks at a conversational level in several languages and i don't know why. ethan started cussing him out once in portuguese and green turned around and started laughing hysterically, causing ethan to anxiously overthink and wonder if he knew exactly what he was saying.

we will never know how many languages/dialects he knows on a conversational level, all we know is that he switches back and forth between what i presume to be japanese and french on a whim. he doesn't care if you can understand him but you know what he is saying irregardless.

it’s been since March since you last posted on ao3 and I just wanted to check if your okay? Are you alive? I just want to know if your okay because as much as I love the fanfic I also want to make sure that you are doing well cause it has been a minute. I get it if you have a writers block or going through things and don’t have time/ don’t want to write anything and this is not telling me you should write the next chapter, this is me being genuinely concerned. I wish you the best and the fanfic is absolutely amazing btw, I have read it like 1,000 times at this point and I still never get bored of it and since it’s left on a cliffhanger I can imagine what will happen next myself lol.

I am no longer going through things, but since then I have come down with a massive case of writer's block that I've been coming in and out of. Which is infuriating, because I have four separate fics that are this close to being ready to be posted and I just. can't. finish them. It's driving me crazy.

Two of those fics are for Touch Transcends Language, so please believe me when I say I'm not planning on giving up on it, I just have no fucking clue when I'll be able to continue.

I need you to know I am kissing you on the mouth rn (platonically) -- I've been rotating this plot in the microwave since like. mid-august.

It's transcendence au (obvi) but here's the basic hook:

The year is 7098. The last Mizar (Fang Wu -- and shoutout to aba_daba_do for making a kickass OC) has been dead for four years now, and Alcor has been MIA for about the same amount of time. In their absence, the North American continent has broken out into a full-on, cross-continental war, with the main players being the Greater Austinian Monopoly (formerly known as Texas) and the Alaskadian Collective (Alaska, plus some parts of Canada and north-eastern Russia).

In a last-ditch effort to find some long-forgotten piece of magical information that could win the war, Alaskadian scientist Fatima Tursynbekova (an r!Ford) is sent to the abandoned site of what used to be Gravity Falls, accompanied by her troubled teenage daughter Olya (an r!Gideon). They're expecting to find little more than scant remnants of a town that was razed to the ground over thirty years before -- not much better than an archaeological expedition if anything.

However, what they find instead is a thriving small town -- the inhabitants of which are all completely and utterly convinced that it's the year 2016 (feat. the OG Mystery Twins and an extremely sus Stan Pines).

Anyways blah blah blah romance, secrecy, interpersonal drama but COME LOOK AT THE MAP I MADE I spent entirely too much time on it and I've been dying to share:
