Chapter 8: Full Fathom Five

The bay has always been home for Yang, and her devotion shapes her world around it.

When Blake surfaces into her life, what was routine becomes unexpected, and what was ordinary becomes extraordinary.

For Blake, home isn't so easy, and when treating your life like a closely guarded secret is what comes naturally, the unexpected is sometimes exactly what you need to hold on to.

She wanted to talk again, to share things locked up tight - Blake had a way of doing that, of making it easy like few people had just by virtue of being there, four patient listening ears trained on her as always even out of sight. The assurance of their presence was something she knew she could rely on, steady and sure and so caring in all the ways that mattered most for her. The raw emotion of it all welled again, simple kindness enough to break her down - but there was peace in that, acceptance of letting things out with light at the end of the tunnel.

Transfem Yang Week Day 7: Pride

Yang smiled as she adjusted her jacket, making sure it sat on her shoulders without feeling too tight. Her hand paused as it ran over the trans flag patch she had sewn into one of her sleeves, a warmth rising in her chest. It was a gift from Ruby, a reminder that no matter what, she should be happy about the person she was. That she wasnt alone. 

She pulled her fingers away from the patch and relaxed once everything felt right. Then, she grabbed her keys from the top of her dresser and started to make her way out of the apartment. She stopped just outside the door and took a deep breath of the crisp, spring air. “Are you ready to go, Blake?” 

“Coming!” Blake called out from the apartment. She walked over, pinning a small trans flag pin to her shirt. “Are you sure you want to do this?” 

“I do. Nervous, but I’m ready.” 

“If you’re too nervous, we can tell May and Robyn that you’re not feeling up to it-” 

“Blake, I’m fine.” Yang gently took Blake’s hand and squeezed it. “Its… nerve wracking… sure, but May was there for me in Atlas when I was having doubts about myself, so I need to be there for her, to show her that I’m proud of who I am. Besides, its just helping her with a booth at Beacon to help kids questioning their gender find the resources they need to help figure themselves out. To show they’re not alone and that they have a future to look forward to.” 

Blake nodded and smiled at Yang. “I want to make sure this isnt going to be overwhelming for you.” 

Yang shrugged and started to walk with Blake. “It might be and I can step away from it if I need to. Its not like I have to speak in front of an assembly or anything like that. Just a booth that I can answer questions and point people to where they need to go. And I’ll have you, May, and Robyn with me, so I’m sure I’ll be fine.” 

“You really have changed, havent you?” 

“I have.” 

“If you need to dip out early, let me know and I can find an excuse for us.” 

“I know, and thank you.” Yang stopped and pulled Blake into a kiss, holding her close. “And thank you for sticking with me.” 

A small blush crossed Blake’s cheeks. “I told you all those years ago that I love you for you. And that’s never going to change. Boy, girl, something between or both… I love you no matter what. And I’m proud of you.” 

“Thank you.”

Jaune: Hey, Ruby, I think you should know something about me.

Ruby: Yeah?

Jaune: I wasn't... born a boy.

Ruby: Yeah, I know. You were born a knight, that's why you have the sword.

Jaune: No, no, I mean, like, my gender.

Ruby: As long as your agenda isn't in with helping the Grimm!

Jaune: No, I mean like sex!

Ruby: Mr. Oum gave me a lobotomy, so I'd never understand what that means!

Jaune: No, I... I mean I didn't want to be a sister growing up!

Ruby: Why wouldn't you want to be a sister, silly? (Grabs Yang) I love being a sis~!

Yang: I don't know how I got here.

updates on the drawing tablet cable. it's not here yet!!! however. i did buy an ipad because i wanted to for a while. but!!!!! the apple pencil did not come with the usbc adapter as advertised so i can't use it until the seller sends me the damn. adapter. so to recap: i currently have TWO DEVICES that can draw. and i can't use neither of them.
