Might be a hot take as a bkdk and tgck truther here, but I find izuocha endlessly fascinating, beautiful, but also tearfully tragic.
I see their love for each other as something representative of their innocence and naivety when they only knew so little about who they were, and what was to come.
I think the main barrier of their relationship is that its rooted in how they see each other very idealistically, specifically that they're attached to the image of their Best Heroic Selves, and not the deeply selfish, destructive, freaky, and egotistical parts of them. To each other, they need to keep fulfilling that image or else that same person they looked up to would almost die in front of them, and that would be too cruel. Although that hero is still there, that same person they looked up to is not the same now because of...well...everything.
Izuku had barely even talked to girls when he first met her. She was Izuku's first ever real friend (Sorry Kats, everyone and him knows he was terrible), so he saved her in that entrance exam even if it was so dangerous. She gave a new meaning to his derogatory nickname just by being a friend that believed in him. After that, she saved him several more times (Blackwhip and Megaphone are the biggest samples iirc). It makes perfect sense that she is Deku's hero.
Ochako hardly knew what it meant to be a hero when she first got into UA. Just by reaching out to some kid tripping, she made a new friend who would then save her in that exam, then save him again in return. This boy then became someone who was always working so hard to save everyone in trouble, and she realized she wanted to be just like him too. "I want to save people"
But...Deku changes. The weight of One for All is on his shoulders and he needs someone to carry this burden with him. He continues to want to save other people at the expense of himself, still not letting his true selfishness and ego ever show- and it only grows more and more unbearable.
Then...Ochako fell in love with Himiko. Truly, relentlessly, selfishly and devotedly in love with a girl who then dies giving her blood to her- the greatest expression of love Himiko could ever give.
Not that they can't love each other because of this happening (and...so many other things oh god), I'm honestly not sure how to explain it- But them ending up together after losing that innocence and naivety? After Ochako will forever grieve the girl who showed her love in its most beautiful and ugly form? After Izuku changed so fundamentally as a person that the butterflies of a nice girl talking to you doesn't exist anymore? After that simple image of being a hero and being in love has completely changed for them both?
Even so, I believe they still love each other. There is no label I know of that can properly describe them though. They are each other's image of being a hero when it comes to saving people. Aside from Shoto, no one else can grasp the grief of the person you tried to save dying in your hands. They would no doubt try to cope with these losses together, and just try to get better together...but so much has changed. They've changed. The world changed. What are they now? Who are they now?
"What happened...to us?"
#I just think the tragedy of falling out of love for the person who represents who they Used to be is so...so painful#Kacchan isn't even here yet and it's already so complicated.#also. Izch healing together after all this would also be really nice#if u like them ending up together thats also perfectly fine too. im just a bkdk and tgck truther myself. thats kinda my whole thing#but izch forming a deep bond from their experiences and saving eachother#and maybe later on trying to date too...oh boy#and them being able to just...be more casual again. talk abt their lives and dreams together too just so they know they have each other#oh itd be so healing and beautiful#im so glad izuku talked to ochako on that cliff man oh man...#izuocha the underrated tragic love that they could've been if ppl werent so close minded abt them#only the real izch fans understand just how much these two actually mean to each other. god bless yall I swear even if I dont ship ship it#thank u to that person who wrote abt them being characters than run in parallel#that narrative structure for them is permanently in my brain. I love these two so much its no joke#my Extra hot take is that izch wouldve been treated better by the fandom if it was gay.#but we'd still agree on bkdk as the endgame after all that happened. maybe. idk this is a hypothetical.#if you switch ock and kats genders...this wouldve been a very different story and fandom. insane food for thought with this one.#ok thats my yap for the night oh god i have so many feelings about them...#evelynpr bnha#bnha#mha#my hero academia#izuocha#actually confidently putting this tag now. sorry for the angst you guys...and maybe being seen as a traitor#im a strong girl I could take on potential haters hahaha...#izuku midoriya#ochako uraraka

It’s great that their internal conflict is addressed but not resolved, and they still choose to work together anyway.
Later Class 1A lacks this crunchiness in their dynamic and it’s unfortunate. It makes sense they would learn to work together better over time, but people don’t all of a sudden change their core priorities/beliefs. Some of this kind of conflict would have gone a long way in later arcs.
Also, leave it to Iida and Momo to find a way to commit vigilantism while simultaneously being hall monitors

As much as I disliked the ending, it pains me SO MUCH to see the amount of hate Izuku is getting. From Bkdks nonetheless, which I'm not actually surprised cause I always knew a majority of them only saw him as an accessory for bakugou.
The worst part of this is seeing the people who were the most passionate Bkdk fans switching up, saying things like bakugou deserves to move on and start dating todoroki, kirishima etc and Izuku should grovel. And bakugou should turn him down in a cruel way or hate him again. Like Izuku fucking spat on him or something.
"Bakugou is a victim, ochako is a victim" MOFO IZUKU IS ALSO A VICTIM HE WAS FORCED INTO THAT SHONEN PROTAGONIST MOLD BY HIS AUTHOR!!!
We know the real Bakugou wouldn't regret his decisions to love Izuku and care for him, he didn't go through all that character development to turn back to what he used be for your revenge headcannons.
I am so with you on that, Anon. This year definitely has shown me that some BakuDeku shippers truly are no different than other shippers and others in the fandom who hate on Midoriya.
The hate on my guy isn't anything new and frankly, I find it more irritating and overplayed than hate on any other character in the series.
They act as if Midoriya isn't the first known victim within the story!
Anyone who has followed me long enough knows I don't hate Bakugou. That's my boom boom gremlin, always.
I do agree that Bakugou is a good character, his development is awesome, yes. I knew his Pom-Pom looking ass was going to get hit with the character development stick hard when I first got into the manga and anime and I waited for that development. Like, yes, give me that. I don't hate BakuDeku, you folks know I don't.
But Bakugou is also not a golden boy to me. He has flaws that he is even aware of, but as of late, it seems that the fandom has forgotten that. I know he has blond hair but he doesn't bleed gold.
Yes, it sucks to see Izuku reject his offer to work at his agency. And I know that, so far, it looks like Bakugou got his heart broken to push Midoriya to Uraraka, but uh... give me a break.
At most, Midoriya and Uraraka are just having a talk. That is not illegal. Bakugou didn't ask Izuku out on a date and then got rejected.
From the looks of it, Midoriya and him are on better terms than they were years before. So much so that Midoriya is able to talk to him. Years before, Midoriya couldn't do that! It's clear to me that they do see each other, so Midoriya is allowed to spend 5 minutes talking to Uraraka and tell her "we should hang out more". Like, um, they were friends, too!
Midoriya is his own character, his development dating back to even before Bakugou was made.
Bakugou doesn't own Midoriya. He's not entitled to have him. Midoriya is free to make his own decisions just like Bakugou can.
I don't see the rejection as Bakugou's punishment, but I darn sure don't see this is something Midoriya should be punished for either.
The fandom is acting like Midoriya is ungrateful or something. He may be rabbit-coded, but Bakugou doesn't own him like he can be a pet like a rabbit.
You know what, Bakugou should go date someone else since apparently Bakugou is also a character that must have romance in his life. The fandom seems to think so!!
"Bakugou should take back the suit." The fuck he is? Maybe I read 430 wrong I'm sure Bakugou was not the only one who put into that suit for Midoriya. I'm sure Bakugou didn't make the suit either.
That suit isn't just a gift from Bakugou, that's right a gift. It's a gift from everyone that cares about Midoriya. Midoriya didn't ask for the suit. He was happy being a teacher and he has every right to still want to be a teacher and it's not up to Bakugou to decide that. He isn't writing Midoriya's paycheck.
Mad that Izuku rejected working at the agency... WHEN HAVE MIDORIYA OR BAKUGOU EXPLICITLY STATED THEY WANTED TO PARTNER UP TO HAVE AN AGENCY?! WHEN?!
So they must work at the same agency to be heroes together? Is that a must with people now?
They don't need an agency to be heroes together. Not working at the same agency isn't going to stop Midoriya and Bakugou from always being intertwined.
Frankly, I feel that these switching ass BakuDeku traitors didn't just not care about Midoriya. I don't even think they care about Bakugou given they want to fanonize him as being Midoriya's keeper and overly possessive pining lover who seeks to punish him. I don't even think they care about the ship truly to not treat the characters as equals and see that no matter what, they have grown to have one of the deepest bonds in the story.
Whether the writing sucks or not, Midoriya and Bakugou are equals. They're individuals but still are intertwined. They have a deeper connection than any other characters. Saying that BakuDeku is "ruined" tells me these people don't have faith in that bond or appreciate it.
They're letting a couple of pages that don't really matter to the main story actually influence them into acting like fucking donkeys and hate on Midoriya who didn't even do anything really wrong.
He has his flaws, but he isn't the worst person! There are a lot more candidates in that regard.
Rejecting working at an agency didn't make Bakugou physically explode. He died once before, but he didn't this time. Chill the fuck out. The rejection just saddened him, but Bakugou did spring that up on Midoriya who just started as a Pro Hero again. Bakugou is not that good at his words now. Sometimes, he communicates Midoriya is always reading his mind. That kind of behavior is part of what drive them apart, by the way.
You know what, last year I wrote a post that Midoriya should be a solo hero (like how Miruko is) and now I actually want it to be canon with how I'm feeling right now.
I feel like these kind of reactions that some people are having would have Bakugou hating them.

I know Deku isnt the traitor. I know it, you know, the world knows it. But... what if he was?
I think it would be cool if he was the traitor and we, the readers, wouldn't find out until everyone else does because it would be like reading a murder mystery where the murder was the unreliable narrator all along (like that episode of bsd when Ranpo and Yosano were in Poe's novel). And you would go back and reread and be like "oh, so that's what that was" And you couldn't even be mad about it because it would be a "shit, that's what was" sort of moment.

So who knows me knows I don't like the Aoyma's reveal at all. We didnt need a spy - how Aoayama could even communicate with Shig or AFO? Even if we all agree the UA 's security is lax, well, I think people would notice a kid going to Tartarus to talk to AFO - and his backstory as quirkless.....it's here only to shit on Izu and...show "bk's redemption"
Let me be clear: I think the redemption is ASS. Bk is a disgusting and hateful character the fandom and Hori love for unknown reasons. And this rotten the story... but the stans won't let them stop themselves be full delulu. "MHA is goat"
I want to talk about this scene: Izu crying, reaching to Aoayama (who is way more deserving of sympathy than Shig) and what we have here? Parasite, making this about him. "I should have been the one to hold his hand that one time" doubt it's remorse for what he made Izu endured...it's more like "I'm essencial for his life"
Maybe Hori meant for us to see BK as a new person ...but he gets worse. Also note how he didn't help Aoayama at all! And this was after he guided people to gang on Izu.
And guess what? This scene has the same importance as anything else....it is cut off.
Also a pattern we see here with Izu...he will go beyond for a stranger - he and Aoayama are classmates nothing more- but him? Oh he is useless and worthless...his abuser is ever present in his life bc yes.
To conclude,I don't like the Aoayama is QUIRKLESS ...but Izu showing kindness here...makes me think if he wished more people had said the same for him. Yes, AM did but it's bc he would be a user and ...never again. We cant know Izu and Hori spits on his mc for a gag.
#hori is a bad writer#a really bad one#izuku deserves better#mha critical#anti bakugou#bnha critical#Aoayama being the traitor is just so dumb#bk is there bc when he isn't leeching?#aoayama is more sympathetic than current Shig

In suspected traitor au, I believe that Izuku should just leave Aoyama high and dry, because after what he’s been through Aoyama didn’t bother come clean to save everyone the broken trust and heartbreak that he has caused. If anything after this Izuku deserves to be spiteful and unhelpful to Aoyama and everyone else who betrayed him.
It would greatly depends on when Izuku learns that Aoyama was the traitor because if he has enough time to cool down, he will be able to see that Aoyama was acting under duress. He won't be nice but he will understand.
Now, if you want to make things painful, if you have Aoyama who was one of the only ones to take Izuku's defense, and maybe they stayed in contact after Izuku left, only for that almost-friend to be revealed as a traitor... Now, that would hurt.

In retrospect, Aoyama had so many tells. He looks like he's about to pass out in a hospital several days after the forest training arc at just the thought of getting more involved. At least suspicious, he comes across as particularly cowardly without context. Otherwise, his behavior stands out due to how muted it is compared to his normal flashiness.
People get on Izuku's case a bit too much about him being obvious about One for All. It's only obvious because we as the readers spend so much time in his head. To everyone else other than Bakugou (who had outside information) and Shouto (because of All Might's suspicious favoritism), Izuku probably was similarly perceived as somewhere between a bit suspicious and very quirky/anxious.

What do u think about aoyama from bnha? :)
I’ve been out of the bnha circle for awhile, but I always liked him!!! He was one of the characters that seemed like he would’ve been a great friend to Izuku even if circumstances had been different and Izuku had never gone to UA, if that makes sense? Like whether Izuku had a quirk that destroyed his body similar to Aoyama or Izuku was still quirkless, I just see Aoyama as wanting to be his friend tbh. I vaguely remember reading a fic where he and Izuku were friends and I loved that dynamic a lot
I saw some posts about him being revealed as the traitor recently and I wasn’t too surprised to hear it, he was almost pointedly inconspicuous as a character and there wasn’t as much deep-diving into his backstory as the other 1-A students’ when we were first learning about them. I think he’s a neat character especially with that context, and with the reveal I think there’s great potential for some damn good angst and hurt/comfort fics tbh
(Also: as a girlie with chronic stomach issues, I’m always gonna stan a tummy-hurty king 👑✨)
#starlight fandom#starlight anon#thepossumsaretakingover#Aoyama is lowkey proof that even in slash-dominated-fandoms we still have some misogyny and sexism to unpack tbh#because he’s kinda been set up as a really fucking cool character that I think ppl could ship with any of their faves#but at least when I’ve seen him in fics he’s always been delegated to Background Gay Guy Friend#because he’s kinda twinky and flamboyant and fans don’t REALLY like feminine men as much as they claim imho#anyway getting off that soap box - I like him; I think he’s neat; there’s a lot of cool stuff to consider -#with him being the traitor and being blackmailed/threatened into it#and the parallels between him and Izuku and how he never has had a moment of peace#give me some soft hurt-comfort for Aoyama where someone draws him a bath and rubs his shoulders until he cries#I think he deserves it!!!! that’s just a kid!!!!!#also thank you for asking!!!!!!! hope you have a good day!!!!!!

Oh God, They Think I Did It
Suspected Traitor! Izuku au
Masterlist
Ao3
Summary : Izuku Midoriya lost his notebook, and now he is faced with his accusing teacher. One by one, those he knew begin to turn on him, and still all he can think of, is how after middle school - the dejection still hurts just as bad.
--
But here his teacher stood, dangling quirk resistant cuffs in front of his hooded eyes, his face greyed with disappointment. He felt his heart tighten, pulling in on itself as he stared into those dulled eyes. That look… heartbreaking, a teacher seemingly lost all trust in him. He flinched from some unknowing sting. The teachers in his middle school, well they had always looked down upon him, ever since it was made known he was nothing but a quirkless little boy. Yet, that pain of constant dejection felt like a lesser burden than watching the hope leave his once caring teacher’s eyes.
Chapter 1 - The Accusation
His hands gripped either side of his desk with nervous strength, feet sternly secured to the floor, he sat rigid against his chair. Izuku Midoriya watched his teacher, Aizawa Sensei, with absolutely strained eyes. Fear, and nerves itching against his expression. He had lost it, somehow, his notebook. Recorded his every note on every new quirk he had come across, hell he had even rewritten in greater depth previous analyses he had made. The notebook had left his person less than a week ago, he had been certain he had simply left it in his homeroom class. At the time, his dear teacher had told him no such item had been found.
His certain trust had been placed in Aizawa, as he had ducked in some form of a thanks and had not questioned his teacher further at the time. Had he missed the signs? The unloving stare of dark eyes in all honestly had not felt out of place, nor had his teacher’s stiff posture. Aizawa, Izuku figured, was really just the type of person who acted like that.
Surely Present Mic’s more awkward demeanour was not correlated? Had his recent classes with the man really been affected by the cruel accusation? Midoriya felt dumbstruck, the blonde hero had awkwardly waved him off upon his first arrival in this week’s class, not even making eye contact with the student – had it not been an off day?
*
Yesterday… these pieces were all sliding into place, assembling a painful picture in which Midoriya becoming isolated was once again the centre. Mina Aishido’s uncomfortable shrugs at the dorms had not bothered him at first, when she told him that there were no usual group outing that previous afternoon he had believed her, not thinking much of it when he found himself eating dinner alone at the table that night. Takeaway katsudon in front of him, and his phone sitting in his hand. The front door opened with a squeal; his ears greeted with bubbling laughs from some feminine voices. Ochako, Tsuyu, and Hagakure stepped through the opening. He went to openly welcome them, opening his mouth widely. Then Iida, Sero, and Kirishima stepped through, followed shortly by Mina and then the rest of his classmates. The students mindlessly went about their own way, not taking in Midoriya.
The room had mostly filtered out, and Mina approached him, dropping a palm to his shoulder and a grin split across her face. “You mustn’t have received my text!” Again, she smiled, and her hand dropped from Midoriya’s shoulder. “Maybe next time?” She took her leave, her pink face strained as she held a smile.
Midoriya held tightly to the belief it was just some great misunderstanding, despite ice enclosing his heart and a thin wall, he breathed in a wobbly breath of suddenly hot air.
Bakugou came to stand by him, his eyes not reaching his own. Arms crossed; he angled his head away sharply. “Don’t think too much of it, dumbass,” he said, his voice rough and quiet, almost pitiful. “Mina and the others were just fucking stupid.” Bakugou inched over, dropping a plastic bag on the table by Midoriya.
The green headed boy paused, placing down his chopsticks as he reached over to pull the bag closer to himself. It felt light, and unsurely he looked to his classmate to silently get permission to open it. He was greeted with nothing more than a slight ‘tch’. Regardless he slipped his hand inside, fingers clutching on a singular cold juice box.
“Kacchan?” Confusion dribbled down his face, his lips creeping to an uncertain line.
“It’s just orange juice, Ochako seemed worried when she realised you weren’t there,” Bakugou muttered, gritting his teeth slightly. In all honesty, that did lift his mood, Ochako was not one with the privilege to be sending many texts from her phone, and to know he was not forgotten by his first friends put a shimmer of sunlight on his hurting heart. “She was going to get you some crappy soda- quit smiling dumbass!”
He attempted to muffle his grin, Bakugou stormed off.
*
Oh- his classmates had known. Ochako, wary around approaching him, had made her own secret code to ensure trust in their friendship. And even Kacchan, his friend turned emotionally constipated classmate, had refused to believe he would go so far as to become a traitor to their school, despite the belief of even their teachers.
Aizawa was still watching him. “Let us just make this easy,” the man said solemnly, outstretching his hand to Midoriya, the cuffs still dangling. “Put them on.”
Put them on? His pride fractured, struggling into little cracks that bled with arrogant coldness. His teacher was testing him. Midoriya felt his eyes slither into a calculating look as he watched his teacher, his own analysis taking place. The man wanted a reaction from him, a personality switch, or a suspicious calmness – either way, he was too look guilty. It was a power move, both knew Midoriya could do nothing against Aizawa’s quirk and raw strength. Knowing the reasonable professional of UA, Aizawa must have already informed other staff. Midoriya was trapped, looking god-forsakenly guilty. He hung his gaze, reaching for the cuffs, taking them into his own hands.
“It’s-“ He felt his own stutter choke him, flashing a glance to the taller man, eyes red and hair drifting. “It really wasn’t me,” he whimpered, clicking the first cuff tight around his wrist. His teacher made no sound, his cold hand wrapped itself around the young student’s wrist, locking his other wrist into the other cuff. It clamped into his skin with a tight metal bite, it was sure to leave pink and bruising rings against his freckled skin.
“The car is outside,” the man said. All so suddenly, his teacher’s face blurred, scratched out of sight, coming into focus and then just as quickly leaving. The pro hero shepherded him through the school. And no matter how hard Midoriya scrunched his face, twisting his neck to watch the man, his head only bleated with a startling anguish as he tried to recognise his betrayer.
Surely, this was his teacher? Yet when he searched him, it was an ice blur. How could a stony face, and displeased eyes belong to Aizawa. Midoriya felt his feet glue to the wooden pale floor. His teacher flipped, fingers entangling themselves on Midoriya’s shoulder, gripping violently on his uniformed shirt. The sting of pain, the seething hatred at suddenly flaring red eyes. No. Absolutely not. He fell back, crashing to the floor, arms raised defensively over his face. “No! You aren’t my teacher!” he hissed, twisting to lift his leg into some threat of a kick.
“Get up,” he said, teeth grit and lifting his own foot. Midoriya’s eyes fell open, jaw unlocking as he watched in momentary anticipation. And his teacher’s foot fell, atop his own, pressing his foot stern against the floor. “Threatening me now? I really don’t wish to see you looking any more guilty.”
Tears wettened his heated cheeks, sucking in a sigh as his teacher pulled him to his feet, and they continued down the path to his own damnation.
A notebook, he left behind a notebook, and now he was off to the cops, turned on by his peers, and had a sickening bruise begin to swell against the middle of his shin.
When he finally came to face the police van, Aizawa opened a black umbrella, hiding them from the peering eyes of civilians who began to slip the phones out, ready to record Midoriya’s demise.
“Shitheads, get your fucking hands off of her,” a voice wheezed, cracking with noise and anguish. Midoriya tipped his head to peer ahead. Bakugou had his hand terrifyingly close to a reporter, one who had wrapped her hand around that of the wrist of his friend Ochako’s. It seemed to be that only that reporter and her cameraman had caught on to the surprise arrest taking place at the school.
“Midoriya! Izuku,” Ochako said, ripping herself away from the kerfuffle, she went to leap forward but Bakugou held her back – holding her by her backpack. His eyes were slimmed into a death-giving glare, aimed at their teacher, his mouth pulled into sneer.
Instead, what he did, to both the shock of Midoriya and his teacher, was drag himself and Ochako into the waiting van. His hands blowing up in blasts of explosions when the officers inside went to ask them out. “This arrest isn’t even warranted yet! Shit, does Aunt Inko even know?” He spat, snatching at a pair of cuffs and fitting them on. “Like we’d let you steal our classmate.” The powerful words accompanied by the only two students who had bothered to come to his aid.
Midoriya suffered a long breath as his teacher turned to raise an eyebrow at him shortly before pulling him into the vehicle.

When he was finally pulled into the interrogation, he could only see Ochako cover her eyes, Bakugou putting his back flat to the wall and crossing his arms, unmoving. The door fell to a shut, two officers alone with him in a room. One a certain 7’0 tall, with no eyes, just a smooth stretch of skin and pointed teeth. The other- stood at solid 5’11, expression tugging into one of certain displeasures, and when he met Izuku’s eyes – he felt his throat go raspy and dry. Nerves or a quirk? Regardless, he grew grim as the two men leaned over him, holding the familiar notebook.
