I can more or less confirm that the Let’s Go kids went on their journeys during the three-year timeskip between Gen 1 and Gen 2, at least in the FRLG timeline they did. I got curious and checked out whether the orphaned Cubone was still at Mr. Fuji’s house in the Johto games, and indeed, I saw Pidgey, Nidorino, and Psyduck in both Crystal and HGSS, but no Cubone. Which leads me to believe that a Trainer had adopted it during those three years, and I have no reason to believe it was anyone other than Trace. The only question is, what about Mina? And all I can really say is, she was just a device to teach players about the new-to-Kanto Fairy-type, and it’s not Red that defeats Team Rocket in Let’s Go, but Chase/Elaine, so Mina probably isn’t born yet in the FRLG canon.

Suppose DeNA ultimately incorporates the Let’s Go kids into Masters (Chase, Elaine, Trace, and maybe even Green). How would you go about incorporating them to exist alongside the FRLG Pallet trio?
Hi there @ether-gearhead!
Oooh this is a good and tough question! I feel like DeNA is going to likely pull a Johto where they just sort of combine FRLG and Let's Go together like they did with Crystal and HGSS. By that I mean Kris just exist alongside Ethan and Lyra's in the same universe and kind of having her own thing I will say it's a much easier task to do this with Kris because she has the benefeit of the Pokespe manga being able to inform some of her character since in Pokespe she works with Oak and we see her conversing with him a lot in Pokemas and she was searching for Suicune in the manga which again informed her partner for her Sygna Suit. Let's go isn't going to be as seamless of an addition because they truly exist in a different timeline as: 1) The first Kantrio female protagonist is named Green and not Leaf 2) The first Kantrio have a different starter and team composition 3) Chase/Elaine take the place of Red's role in Let's Go being the one to defeat Team Rocket and capture Mewtwo (if we add Origins into this) 4) Trace takes the place of Blue as the surprise champion who gets defeated soon after While Pokemon Masters is definitely a multiverse crossover (especially with the addition of Ash from the anime) I feel like Let's Go's cast is a little harder to integrate since from the PML league, various smaller stories, and the Kanto Villain arc they really hyped up Red as this living legend who defeated Team Rocket and became champion by taking down his true rival Blue. It gets referenced so much that I don't know if they'd be that eager to try a mulitversal counterpart for that scenario, especially when the reception of the Let's Go cast isn't as great unfortunately. And while I can see them adding Green to the mix, I feel like with Leaf already being shafted (she needs another alt I'm hoping she gets a Neo Champion one or something) it would just further hurt Leaf. All this to say (as a long aside)...this is Gamefreak's fault for being too chicken to just go all in on making Let's Go a true sequel and not this halfway reimagining/halfway sequel thing. Because the idea of Red, Blue and Green/Leaf being mentors to a younger squad of Pallet Town kids is fantastic. With a younger Mina appearing in Let's Go and Adult versions of Red and Blue appearing in SM/USUM I think it would've been wiser to just have had Adult Red and Blue with an adult female protagonist (doesn't matter if they name her Leaf or Green) appear in Let's Go as mentors and have Chase/Elaine and Trace take on a new story set in Kanto. Like center it on Meltan/Melmetal and Shadow Pokemon from remnants of Team Rocket (to tie in with Pokemon Go). Maybe since Trace shows that he's easily frightened, make him already a champion (like how they did Nemona) but his lack of courage and at times unwillingness to push his Pokemon in situations be the reason why Chase/Elaine have to step in...which ultimately ends in him losing the title. But since Red and Blue would be adults here, perhaps at some point they run into Kukui and learn about his dream for Alola and we see them decide to go be facility heads for the Battle Tree. And then in the post-game we see Blue handing the reigns of the Viridian City gym to Trace (who I think could be a good successor). They could even with this add more of a plot to the female protagonist. Maybe she decides to stay in Kanto to help the kids out...or maybe she teases traveling to some other region.
That, in my opinion, would've been a way better use of the new kids while giving the first Kantrio some time to shine. And most importantly, it would've made adding the Let's Go kids to Pokemon Masters way more seamless. And more lucrative for DeNA since a more original story would've enhanced the popularities of Trace, Elaine and Chase. But unfortunately that didn't happen I think if DeNA does add them, given what's actually canon for them, I think they may just focus more on Alolan/Kanto variants of Pokemon. Like an event where Alola and Kanto characters (mainly Let's Go) compare variants. Trace has the Marowak so they could have a battle with him and Kiawe and his Alolan Marowak. I could see them just combining Green's character into Leaf and giving her a Ninetales and then giving Lillie an Alola Ninetales (as a nod to the anime) and have them face off. They could then give Chase/Elaine Kantonian Golem and Dugtrio against Alolan Dugtrio (Molayne) and Alolan Golem (Sophocles). They could also use Meltan/Melmetal for a Let's Go event, but I could honestly see them doing an Ash Alt for that since he has Melmetal (if Ash does get more Alts, a Melmetal and Greninja alt are the most likely ones in my opinion). If they were to give it to the let's go kids I can see them doing it for any one of them honestly.

Random Pokémon Headcanons
Any sexuality headcanons apply to adult versions of these characters. Please do not sexualize children :)
Red is a demiboy and uses he/it. When he grows up he also comes to identify as asexual and aromantic
Blue is bisexual but with a preference towards men. He can be a bit of a flirt but strikes out 90% of the time due to his cocky vibe
Kris is the daughter of that random woman who's in your kitchen talking to your mom at the beginning of GSC. Ethan and Kris's moms have always been friends & neighbors; Kris's dad is one of Professor Elm's aides. When she's young Kris wants to work alongside Elm, but as she gets older she becomes interested in Pokémon psychology - ways their brains are similar and different to those of humans, and how that knowledge can be used to help Trainers and Pokémon better understand each other.
Silver is demiheterosexual. I like to imagine that he and Kris strike up a relationship. In his adult years he works on-and-off with the International Police when incidents with Team Rocket spring up, but he refuses to join them because he doesn't always want to play by their rules.
May is pansexual, and either aromantic or just not strongly interested in relationships. She definitely dated Lisia at some point, even if only briefly
Leaf is a trans girl! I used to hc that her other name (Green in English, Blue in Japanese) was her deadname, but I know there's controversy around having trans/nb characters' deadnames revealed, and as someone who is not trans myself I want to be careful. Anyway, I imagine her exploring the Kanto we see in Pokémon GSC; in that game you first land in Vermillion City, so I imagine her being from there.
Both Lucas and Barry have very juvenile crushes on Dawn (with her in the "friend" role and Lucas as the protag). However, Dawn makes it clear that she isn't interested in that kind of relationship, and they get over it pretty quickly.
Would it be way too stereotypical to say that Barry has ADHD
Lyra caught her Marill as an Azurill in Mt. Mortar (yes I know Azurill isn't found there wild, but let's say someone snuck an incense in there or something). She didn't have any other Pokémon so she "borrowed" a bunch of Poké balls from her grandparents and just hucked them at the mon over and over until eventually she caught it
Hilbert and Hilda are twins! Hilbert is older by just thirty seconds, which irritates Hilda to no end.
Bianca and Cheren are both trans and when they get older they start dating. Their Neo Champion event was just giving t4t sorry i don't make the rules
Hilda & Nate are the two Unova protags; after B2W2, Nate stays in Unova to lead the Pokémon League, Rosa has a moderately successful career at Pokéstar Studios, Hilda goes searching abroad for N, and Hilbert becomes a frequent visitor on the Battle Subway, second in rank only to Emmet & Ingo.
Calem is a trans boy!!!
Shauna is a lesbian with a crush on Serena, Serena is straight with a crush on Calem, and Calem is completely oblivious to everything
Everyone just kind of assumes that Tierno and Trevor are gay and dating but actually they're both straight but queerplatonic
Hau is ace but girls usually assume he's flirting with them and then get sad when they find out he's not
Gladion probably uses he/they and maybe also some neopronouns
Chase, Elaine, and Trace are all painfully straight I'm sorry. Elaine becomes the Champion, Chase travels the world to become the very best like no one ever was, and idk Trace works at viridian city gym or something
Victor is nonbinary!!!! Based off my own experience of playing the game with Victor as my protag but feeling uncomfortable with my character using he/him. They can be a little awkward and apologetic about their identity, but Hop has been supporting them in their transition for years and will fight anyone who misgenders them. The downside of this is that Hop can be a little too overzealous as an ally and sometimes he makes a scene when Victor would rather just go incognito.
Rei (as protag) is the little brother of Lucas from DPP :) Idk Johanna got remarried or something
Juliana is genderfluid but identifies more with the female end of the spectrum. Depending on the day, they use she/her, they/them, it/its, or xe/xem.
Penny is a demigirl and uses she/they/he

"ether-gearhead: It’s unusual because Green is portrayed as something of a rival figure in Let’s Go. She was after Mewtwo, which the player caught first, so she battles you for it, gives you the Mewtwonites when she loses, and jokes about you and Mewtwo becoming her Pokemon, which persists into the rematches. Ultimately, Green is WAY different personality-wise from what was written for Leaf throughout Masters’ lifespan, which is reinforced by the event itself and by Leaf and Elaine’s teamup/victory lines."
I suppose? I'll have to take your word for it, because honestly, I don't think they're any different, but in the same way that if asked, I'd say Gary Oak and Blue are the same person. So I'm probably not the best judge of this, I guess.
"If you’re talking about Blue, he appears as a senior Trainer to Chase/Elaine, and while you still fight him at Silph, it’s just a test battle to see if you can handle fighting Team Rocket. In fact, he doesn’t even deal with Team Rocket himself, instead volunteering to hunt them down through Kanto, and even let the Elite Four know what’s going on, though it’s ultimately moot after Giovanni’s defeated."
I guess that tracks for a timeskip appearance in this context.
"Speaking of Giovanni, he formally takes over Viridian Gym once you get the Earth Badge, and Trace becomes his first challenger. So naturally, Blue himself isn’t the Champion, that goes to Trace. Still, I figure that Elaine did go on a journey some time after Red and Blue did, but the big nail between FRLG and LGPE was when Team Rocket was active (Mt. Moon, Silph, etc.)."
So what I'm hearing is that Giovanni is so pathetic as a villain that they kinda just let him go to let him do the gym leader duties he's supposed to do. That's honest to god hilarious.
Also wouldn't FRLG and LGPE be completely separate timelines? Mega Evolution exists in Let's Go, that's the designated "alternate timeline" marker compared to the other games before. Also wasn't it stated to be a sequel game to Yellow? Which, I'm willing to say it, is stupid. Red only has one starter, this actually makes more sense as the continuation of either Red/Blue or FRLG. Meanwhile, Yellow connects most closely to GSC/HGSS, since Red has all three starters and Blue has none. Basically what I'm saying is this whole "alternate reality/timeline" shit makes less sense than the official Zelda timeline, which is saying something. Almost like they didn't think about it at all and just did whatever they wanted.

Beginning with Ho-oh, ending with Lugia, huh?.
(Just some random thoughts below. Nothing important.)
Tumblr media
Anyway about Ho-oh,
The final Japanese opening of original series, Ready Go, made a reference to Ho-oh in the lyrics, saying about 'going over seven colored rainbow'. The last DP opening also had Ash chasing Ho-oh.
About Journeys, huh? I can see everyone is disappointed since it 95% follows the game-based, e.g. Ash's fighting scene, Goh is essentially Pokemon Go (no pun intended), while Chloe is Lets Go game. After all, the anime has created their own canonity for years, i.e., anime contest being different than the game, using defensive moves for offensive.
For a new pokemon fan who started with Go or LG... well this one is probably not disappointing. (Note: probably)
.
I, myself, found 'the end message' is similar to Pokemon Evolutions. There, Oak says, “But you did well. Just look at your pokemon! The bond you share is marvelous, and you’ve found so many! With the data you’ve gathered, you’ve been helping my studies. And, besides you weren’t doing it all alone. You are a part of much larger community, Green. A world of dreams and adventures, challenges and discovery of trainers and pokemon.” Then he declares the pokedex is complete but turns out it isn’t. So Green, Trace, and Elaine set out again.
The similarity: Yeah, Ash and Goh set out to another journey on their own like how Ash says goodbye to his previous companions and they all go on their own path. The previous episode (JN135), Goh stated he wanted to leave to meet more pokemon and trainers to learn about the world more (thx subs). That means, in order to reach Mew, he intends to expand his worldview / perspective by knowing its community and world. On the other hand, Chloe started with zero interest with pokemon but slowly opens up as episodes go. I guess everyone misread her as someone who doesn’t find out anything. To be fair, her first focus episode shows her doubts in aspiration. Then the later episodes, she becomes to care and learns about it little by little, particularly about Eeevee. Yes, she hasn’t decided. She spent most of her screen time going to school and, on some occasion, joining Ash and Goh; while the two boys 100% set out to a pokemon world. So I don’t find it weird she hasn’t fully found what she wants. (Not saying school sucks.) I find her still progressing on it. At least, she doesn’t stay in her comfort zone / her slice of life daily routine, but slowly getting out of that zone. The process of doing so is usually slowly yet progressively, hence it’s time consuming. I don’t get why people assume she starts her journey as soon as she gets Eevee. Well, going on a journey might work but, given her disinterest at the beginning, it wouldn’t be easy for her. So the lesson and development from her story is to discover more. Plus, I never expected anything from Chloe except gaining development (in this case, she slowly tries to discover more by being research fellow in the boys’ stead). Since Journeys is about double protags Ash and Goh at the very beginning, I always thought Chloe as the side character that would get development (which is ok coz I’m tired of ‘girl being second/third person in the group’ trope that makes them eye-candy for the show, minus Iris and Alola girls).
In conclusion, the moral lesson to discover more is somehow fitting to be epilogue (as I pointed it works in Evolutions).
.
But then again that’s my initial thought. Keeping this post to see the change of thoughts in following years. (let’s see)

Let's Go Johto Concepts
I figure since I potentially only have a month left to share these, I might as well share my concepts for what the original characters to a Let's Go Johto could potentially be. If someone wants to draw them, I wouldn't say no, but I really don't expect that to happen.
Kenny: The male player character, whose name comes from "kin," meaning "gold" in Japanese. Blond with brown eyes, wears a red-and-yellow sweatshirt, black pants, and a red-and-yellow hat. Basically styled after a Fast Ball. Depending on the version, he receives an Elekid or a Magby. As an NPC, however, he starts with a Tyrogue, which ultimately becomes a Hitmontop.
Ginny: The female player character, with her name coming from "gin," meaning "silver." Ash-colored pigtailed hair and gray eyes, she wears a red jacket, black shirt, and blue overalls. Her hat is a teal skull cap with a small red bow. Once again, her starter is Elekid or Magby depending on the version, but Tyrogue/Hitmontop as an NPC.
Final Team (Either): Hitmontop/Bellossom/Mega Beedrill/Kingdra/Raichu/Houndoom
Russ: The friendly rival of the game, with his name coming from "rust." Spiky orange hair and green eyes, he wears a black t-shirt and brown pants. He's confident in his friendship with his Eevee, but he unknowingly forces his ideals of strength on it and his other Pokemon, and so it doesn't evolve until some time after a devastating loss to Silver, at which point it becomes an Umbreon. Aside from that, he adopts Professor Elm's Magby/Elekid into his team after it escapes the lab to follow its counterpart.
Final Team: Umbreon/Magmar or Electabuzz/Ampharos or Arcanine/Crobat/Blissey/Mega Alakazam
Suzu: The antagonistic rival of the game, and the first Trainer the player battles, her name literally means "bell." Blue hair in a hime-style cut, wearing a school uniform-style outfit. An apprentice Kimono Girl, she thinks herself destined to bring the Legendary Pokemon back to Ecruteak, and refuses to believe they could be the one to do it instead. She uses an Eevee as her main battler, which evolves into Espeon over the course of the game.
Final Team: Espeon/Ninetales/Magneton/Noctowl/Donphan/Mega Gengar
Aside from that, you encounter Raikou or Entei upon leaving Mr. Pokemon's house, causing Togepi to hatch right away. Togepi is a Partner Pokemon, with increased stats, and is scripted to evolve in a brief cutscene just before fighting Archer. The Pokemon recognizes you at the Burned Tower, causing Suicune to become interested in you too, and ultimately the last Beast. You catch Raikou/Entei at the Bell Tower, Suicune on Route 25, and Entei/Raikou roams Johto once it escapes the Burned Tower, but its cry sounds out once you enter the route it's currently on (accompanied by a "!" over the player's head), and all you have to do is get it to spawn.
Catching all three Legendary Beasts and showing them to Suzu earns you the Rainbow Wing, which you can of course use to encounter Ho-oh. Just as in Crystal, the old man in Pewter gives you the Silver Wing, unlocking Lugia.
Russ battles you in New Bark Town after he adds the runaway Pokemon to his team, Azalea Town after beating Bugsy, the Burned Tower upon entering for the first time, Goldenrod Tunnel after entering the Warehouse, Victory Road at the very end, and Mt. Moon upon entering. After that, he can be rematched at Indigo Plateau.
Suzu battles you in Cherrygrove City on the way back from Mr. Pokemon's house, Azalea Town after Team Rocket is defeated, Ecruteak City after beating the Rocket harassing the Kimono Girl, Goldenrod Tunnel before unlocking the Warehouse door, Bellchime Trail after catching Raikou/Entei, and Cerulean City after catching Suicune. After that, she can be rematched in the Ecruteak Theater.
Effectively, Silver's battles are divided up between Russ and Suzu, but Silver himself plays a role in the story. He's generally the one to teach the player's Togepi/Togetic Secret Techniques, namely Chop Down, Sea Skim, and Whirl Ride (the replacement for Whirlpool). Chuck's wife gives the player a Sky Dash machine, the toughness-obsesed Sailor in Olivine's Cafe teaches Strong Push, the Elder of course teaches you Light Up, you get taught Break Rocks (Rock Smash) after catching Sudowoodo, the guy in Ilex Forest teaches Ram Head (Headbutt), and Silver teaches you Falls Climb (Waterfall) once you reach Tohjo falls, but not before you defeat him in a battle.
Lyra reprises her role as your neighbor and the Day-Care Couple's granddaughter. Her role is largely the same as in HGSS, but you can battle her once per day on Route 34 after defeating Blue. Kris appears with Professor Oak at Mr. Pokemon's house, and after getting permission to go to Mt. Silver, she arrives back at Oak's lab, where she can be challenged once per day. You have to defeat her at least once to unlock Ethan, who can then be fought at the base of Mt. Silver, after which he tells you about Red, whom he's apparently been training with.
Green guards the entrance to Cerulean Cave, as well as the recently released Mewtwo, who she reveals saved the people and Pokemon on Cinnabar Island a year ago. She battles you with her team from LGPE.
Blue is of course the Viridian Gym Leader, battling you with his LGPE team.
Chase and Elaine can be battled in Pallet Town. Chase uses Pikachu, the Kanto starters, Hitmonlee, and Kabutops, while Elaine uses Eevee, the Kanto Eeveelutions, Hitmonchan, and Omastar.
Trace can be found in Lavender Town, helping out Mr. Fuji. He uses his Let's Go Eevee team, meaning Raichu, because Elaine is using Jolteon as part of her team.
Red is atop Mt. Silver, just like always. Like Blue and Green, he reprises his LGPE team.

Note
Given the Trace in Cactusverse ask, I could see Red getting involved in the Game Corner and Silph Co. being recontextualized into Red having a mini-freakout at Chase going in to take on Team Rocket all by himself, and so following him into the fray. I’ve long posited the theory that Chase got as far as Archer before Red saved him after losing to Giovanni, and if it weren’t for Masters clearly painting him as the junior Trainer to Red, then I’d say the personality they gave him neatly aligns with that theory.
Hi there @ether-gearhead! While that's certainly a nice theory that ties the old Kantrio together with the new Kantrio, that won't work specifically for cactusverse at the moment (if that's what your asking). The thing is if I were to place Let's Go in the cactusverse timeline it would have to be somewhere after the events of BW and Before BW2/XY to coincide with Mina (who appear in Kanto) being younger and then being shown as at least a teen by the time the SM events roll around. Which would mean (given that again cactusverse still starts at FRLG) that Team Rocket would've been long been dealt with probably before the new Kantrio is even born (I know there have been many a edit war on Bulbapedia about the gap between Gen 2/Gen 4 and Gen 5, I personally go for a decade between the events). This is what I meant in my previous by Trace being stuck in limbo because there literally isn't anything for him (or Chase/Elaine to do) and as I said cactusverse isn't really about creating brand new plots so much as dealing with the aftermath (or in the case of Jack's presence in Galar, explaining why so many of the cast have maladaptive behaviors, which is still aftermath but it's giving previous context). As it stands none of the New Kantrio (and Green also) have anything novel that allows me to explore an aftermath (bar Trace maybe taking over the Viridian Gym once Blue goes to Alola, which again is confounded by the fact he wouldn't even be able get a chance to play the role as rival let alone champion in the current set up) since by then everything is taken care of. Team Rocket is gone, Blue got over his ego, Red confronts society again, Blue and Red repair their friendship, Leaf gets a purpose that allows her to shine on her own (and yes for cactusverse parts of Green have been merged into Leaf's character like certain Team Members and some motives). This is once again where I lament Let's Go not being just proper Kanto Sequels with their own unique story set around BW1 to set up Alola which would come 4 years later. Then there really wouldn't be as much of an issue about whether the New Kantrio would be a part of cactusverse. Also in regards to Chase trying to take on TR, as cute as that is, for me part of what makes the cactusverse story of the Kanto events poignant is that Red does this all alone like in canon. It contributes to the fall out between him and Blue taking a turn for the worse since Blue really wasn't helpful at all at that time because up until then Red was mostly shrugging off Blue's ego-based rants, but being left to do take on Team Rocket in Silph Co by himself? That was a major blow to his perception of Blue. And this is a huge thing that has to be addressed once they finally get Red down from Mt. Silver. It takes a long while for them to regain their trust because while Blue is still Red's person, that lack of help was a huge betrayal and Blue has to own it and make that up. And I feel like adding extra parties to that just would complicate things a bit on my end, but I definitely see the potential of your theory being put to good use in other AUs.
