Road Traffic Counting Surveys: A Vital Element in Transportation Planning :
Transportation planning is one of the critical components of urban development planning. Road traffic counting surveys play a vital role in enabling transportation planners to make informed decisions about road and traffic management. In this article, we will explore what road traffic counting surveys are, why they are essential, and how they are conducted.
What are Road Traffic Counting Surveys?
Road traffic counting surveys are conducted to gather data on the number and types of vehicles that use a particular road section or intersection. The traffic data collection usually includes details such as the number of vehicles, their speed, and direction of travel. This data can be used to develop traffic management plans, identify areas that require improvement, and estimate future transportation needs
Traffic flow: Traffic flow data provides information on the volume of traffic that uses a particular road section. This information is critical in analyzing traffic congestion and identifying areas that require improvement.
Speed: Speed data can help transportation planners evaluate the safety of the road section by identifying areas where vehicles are traveling at excessively high speeds, leading to accidents.
Types of vehicles: Knowing the types of vehicles that use a particular road section helps planners identify areas that may require special infrastructure, such as dedicated bike lanes or sidewalks.

The car ride home was quiet. You figured it was post-tennis exhaustion keeping your boyfriend quiet; the entire match was viewed with the Monte Carlo sun radiating down on the stands. Secondarily, the silence could’ve been induced by a little social exhaustion even though Charles thrives in crowds—the two of you spent a couple of hours before the match chatting to anyone who approached him, which felt like every person at the event had to have his attention for a brief moment. Then after the match, the two of you spent another hour speaking with the Master’s Winner, Stefanos, and the Prince, before you were able to take your exit.
So, you attributed his low energy to being sun-tired and talked-out. In retrospect, you should’ve known that it was more than fatigue from how Charles failed to put his hand on your thigh as he drove, and how he sat through slow-crawling traffic without ever moving to turn on music or talk. Your weariness prevented you from prodding further when the Monegasque responded with a nearly inaudible hum when asked if he was tired—the lack of presence in his answer felt like confirmation.
Yet, you realize it wasn’t an answer at all when you entered your home.
Your comments and questions about the match and dinner plans were met with one-word answers and off-timed hums of indifference in response. It’s not until the two of you are in your bedroom getting unready that Charles speaks more than a single word.
“Stefanos was nice, wasn’t he?”
You pause in your action of taking off an earring, a puzzled tilt to your brow at the odd tone his words took, eyes examining him in the reflection of your vanity’s mirror. He stares down at his forearm as he unclasps his watch, his expression unreadable from his side profile.
“Yes…he was,” you answer slowly, your confusion growing as you see Charles’ jaw clench, “I didn’t imagine him to be so, normal, I guess? After winning the Monte Carlo Masters, of all things. And, he’s done it three times! I mean, that’s incredible, no? For him to be so friendly and relaxed after was nice, I think.”
You rambled endlessly, the feeling that you’ve talked yourself into a corner flaring at the base of your skull. Charles turned to face you fully, shrugging his suit jacket off and calmly placing it on top of the dresser, rolling up the sleeves of his white dress shirt before he leaned to rest against the furniture as well.
“Ah,” the hair on the nape of your neck rises at the sound, you continue to remove your necklaces with hesitant fingers, “Did he charm you into being your favorite tennis player today, mon amour?”
A humorous scoff escapes your lips, “You know I’m not a fan of tennis. But, if there happens to be a match playing within my view, and he’s playing, I suppose I would want him to win. I wouldn’t say I was ‘charmed,’ I just think he’s a nice man.”
“I think you were too nice to him.”
You slowly place your diamond-studded, golden tennis chain away before your eyes flicker back to meet Charles’ in the reflection of the mirror. You raise a brow, unsure how to respond to his statement. Intelligently, you’ve deduced that he’s jealous, which is odd—considering he’s Charles Leclerc, the prettiest, sweetest, and kindest man on the face of the Earth, in your humble opinion. Stefanos doesn’t hold a candle compared to your boyfriend. Your fingers struggle to undo the clasp of your final necklace; the gold, diamond-paved, Cartier necklace with Charles’ name carved on the back—it was expensive enough that he refused to tell you the price when he gifted it, only saying that “the cost was nothing compared to the love he has for you,” the smooth-talker.
“Arrête,” he speaks firmly, pushing off the dresser and making his way towards you, his dress shoes clicking on the floor sending your heartbeat racing. He stops mere centimeters behind you, the heat of his body radiating against your back.
“Leave it on,” he murmurs, darkened eyes running over your form in the mirror indulgently.
You do as he says, arms shakily lowering to rest at your sides, fingers tugging at the hem of your sundress as your heart skips and body flushes with heat. The Monegasque reaches around you to center the necklace on your clavicle, the sensation of his fingertips barely ghosting across your brown skin has your mouth parting with an inaudible gasp.
“If only he knew that you wear my name locked around your neck,” the brunette pondered aloud, “Maybe then he would remember that your pretty eyes, sweet giggles, and flirty words are for me—since you seemed to forget.”
“I was not f-flirting with him!” You stutter over the word as if it were an insult.
“You were not,” Charles sounds like he agrees, “But, you know very well that people mistake your kindness as more than that. It’s happened before, no?”
It has happened before. More than you can count. The number of men who mistake politeness and your overall niceness for interest is frightening; you don’t want anybody but Charles.
“What was I supposed to say to Stefanos? Nothing? Should I have just ignored him? And stood at your side quietly like I was just there for decoration?” Your tone peaks with annoyance, heated at the idea of being reduced to an accessory.
“No,” his voice cuts through your train of thought, “You should’ve agreed with me when I mentioned we needed to leave after he said ‘the only thing he’s missing to celebrate is a beautiful woman’ as he stared directly at you—instead of forcing me to stay for another twenty minutes to talk.”
Your mouth drops open disbelievingly, a scoff following a few moments later when you slowly realize that Stefanos wasn’t interested in being set up with one of your friends as he asked. You should’ve known when he asked if you had a twin sister he could meet.
“Okay, in hindsight, I can see that he was flirting,” you clarify, “But, I definitely was not. You know in that entire conversation, I was just being polite—and I made you stay for longer because the Prince wanted to talk to you. Not because I was entertaining a man who doesn’t respect my relationship with you!”
“You were being polite when he kissed your hand?”
“Yes! I thought that was just him laying it on thick?”
“He’s not royalty,” Charles snorts, “The only person allowed to put their lips on you is me.”
“You keep talking about who’s ‘allowed’ to do anything to me and you’ll very quickly find out that I’m ‘allowed’ to reconsider this relationship if you continue speaking about me as if you own me.”
“I don’t own you,” Charles pauses, and a smile spreads across his lips, dimples deepening in his cheeks, nearly forcing you to forget your previous statement as you admire them in the vanity mirror, “But—you own me.”
You turn around quickly at the words, breath stuttering at the lack of space between you two. Tilting your head upwards, you examine your boyfriend’s face with narrowed eyes and cheeks burning so hot the red flush is apparent. His smile has softened to a smirk, his eyebrows laced with a smug undertone, his pupils blown wide enough for you to have to focus to see the green ring around them. You languidly raise a hand to trace a finger across the edge of his jawline, then cupping your hand along the side of his face, gently resting your thumb in the indent of his dimple. Your chest tightens when Charles leans into your palm, slowly shifting to press a kiss on your wrist before nudging you back to holding his face.
Sighing gently, you shake your head, “What do you want from me?”
“Je veux que tu me laisses baiser ma jalousie sur toi, s'il te plaît.”
“S-say it slower please,” you request meekly, “I think I heard you wrong.”
“I want you to let me fuck my jealousy out,” Charles emphasizes each word slowly, his tone becoming teasing as he sees you fluster with each added syllable, “Ple–”
Your lips meet his desperately, your other hand flying upwards to grasp at his shoulder when you feel his laughter through the kiss. You’re sure his amusement is multiplied as you try to dominate the kiss, even as you rise on the tips of your toes and arch your body towards his. Needily, you whine into his mouth as he refuses to meet your rushed rhythm, digging your nails into the meat of his broad shoulders to convey your urgency.
The Monegasques’ hold on your waist turns rough and you pull backward with a gasp when he pinches the skin of your arm. You glower at him in displeasure but it’s quick to fade as he guides you back to his lips with a heavy hand on the nape of your neck. His thumb and pointer finger are weighted from their position at the base of your skull, directing the tilt and movement of your head as he licks into your mouth and bruises your swollen lips further with pressure and stings of teeth.
He walks himself backward, one hand firm on your hip to guide you with him, the other rucking up the skirt of your sundress and sliding underneath to tug your panties down your legs with ease. You kick the fabric off your ankles distractedly, falling to straddle Charles’ lap as soon as he sits on the edge of the bed. His hand slips between the cradle of your thighs, cupping along your warmth and toying within your folds.
“Wet for me already,” he discovers delightedly, breaking the kiss to suck a mark into the sensitive skin behind your left ear and peppering more nips and teases of teeth down the stretch of your neck. Hisses of pleasure slip from your parted lips and you slant your hips forward to guide Charles’ fingers inside. You exhale breathily at the slide of a single finger in your cunt, rolling down onto his hand when you deem his pace too slow.
“Another, please,” you beg, moaning throatily when your boyfriend fulfills your plea without hesitation.
Two fingers turn into three, and three fingers turn into Charles flipping you over and pushing you into the bed so he can hover over you. With rushed hands, you both shove the zipper of his slacks and the hem of his briefs low for him to slip his cock out and press into you. The brunette shudders as he sinks within your depths, falling to his elbows, your moans and gasps of breath spilling into the same pocket of air when his hips rest against the back of your thighs.
“M-move, please, Cha,” you cry, knees pressing into his sides and body rolling upwards to get a glimpse of friction during his stillness.
Charles drops his head to quiet you with a chaste kiss before matching the rhythm of your rocking hips, his rumbling groans quieted by your lips. He holds himself steady on one arm while he uses the other to reach above your head and drag a pillow downwards, tapping your ass briefly to wordlessly command you into rising upwards as he slips the cushion underneath you. As soon as the pillow is properly positioned, Charles’ slow grinds are exchanged for slamming thrusts, sharp flares of pain-dipped pleasure shooting up your spine and tightening the knot in your navel. Your breath is lost quickly and you struggle to recover, eyes screwing shut and exhales of expletives and whimpers of encouragement are all you can offer.
The Monegasque roughly slides his hand down your leg and grasps you by the ankle digging into the small of his back to keep him close, moving it to rest over his shoulder, and letting his hand fall to squeeze at your thigh for purchase as the change of position tightens the fluttering channel of your cunt around him. This angle feels like he’s digging deeper inside you; one of your hands scrambling to drag your nails down his toned back while the other fists in his hair as you shriek high-pitched into the heated air between your bodies.
“All mine,” you can feel the possessive lilt to his tone rumble through the thin skin of your throat as he sucks along the rapid beat of your pulse. Your nails decorate his back with red scores and it has Charles biting out sharp putain’s and rabbiting his cock into you forcefully, yet remaining conscious enough to realign his thrusts as he bullies his way inside of you to pound against your g-spot. His leaned forward position stretches the limits of your comfortable flexibility, but it allows his pelvis to barely scrape against your clit, sending a wave of overstimulating pleasure to your brain, your eyes rolling as the sensation knocks any form of rational thought from your brain.
He pauses to tug the front of your dress down, the hem tucked under the spill of your breasts. His fingers flick teasingly over a pebbled nipple while he folds himself lower to drag his tongue against the other and nip small marks around your areola. You fight against the assault on your chest; arching your back towards and away from him—chasing and running away from the pleasure simultaneously, yet you continue to grind onto his cock.
“Charles, f-fuck, lemme–uhuh—lemme ride ‘ou,” you whine out incoherently, pushing at his shoulder with a closed fist, hoping he’ll understand your slurred words as your tongue begins to feel heavy.
Your boyfriend pulls away from your breasts in question, panting roughly as he stares up at you to see a pure look of want in your dampened eyes,  lashes clumped together and brown skin flushing deeper when the eye contact is held unendingly. You know that Charles debated denying your request, or at least thought about making you beg for it, but he decides to kneel and drag you upwards into his lap without a fight. He allows you a brief respite to adjust your legs and anchor your arms over his shoulders, then tightens the hold of his hands on your waist, fingertips sure to leave indents as he assists your first upward motion, before solidly dragging you back down.
The strength you regained in your legs from the short break disappears, knees weakening and body slumping into Charles’ chest, your head drooping to rest in the crook of his neck.
Charles steadies your head and tilts you back gently, checking in, “Is this too much, mon amour? We can stop.”
“No,” you murmur, “You fucked the feeling out of my legs, Cha.”
He laughs warmly, situating his hands on your ass to direct your motions, the tone of his voice light as he coos, “‘s okay, mon coeur—I’ll do all the work.”
You brush your nose along his, moaning softly at the sweetened drag of his cock. Charles chases your bitten lips, groaning lowly as he deepens his thrusts, fingers dipping to circle your clit—always ensuring your release is prioritized. Your thighs begin to shake and his thrusts skip beats as he begins to near the precipice as well. Shuddering, you gasp into his mouth, attempting to alert him to your nearing orgasm but you’re unable to speak the words.
“It’s okay, mon amour,” your boyfriend soothes, “Cum for me—I’ve got you.”
“yesyesyes,” you babble mindlessly, Charles continuing to pound into you, not slowing the search for his release now that you’re orgasm is imminent. A few well-angled jabs of your g-spot and you’re gone; release frying your nerve endings and vision blurring as your boyfriend continues to ride your high to its very end.
The Monegasque pulls out the moment your hips fight his hold, dropping his hand drenched with your pleasure from your clit to grab his cock, and with one stroke, he spills. Charles paints your navel and inner thighs white with whimpering moans, and lilted French. He milks himself into over-sensitivity, only stopping when the orgasmic relief shifts into pain. He kisses you on the cheek as he drags a finger through his cum pooled between your thighs. His hand rises to your mouth and he hums approvingly as your lips part and suckle his spend clean off.
“Hm,” Charles sounds, staring down at the claim he’s spilled, his free hand rubbing his cum along your navel, “All mine.”

Bruce Wayne:
Bruce knew better than to associate you with Batman. He had learned that lesson a hundred times over by now, how dangerous it was to associate the people he cared for with the cowl. But now wasn't the time to dwell on the blunder.
“Oracle, update,” he barked over the communication device. Bruce perched atop a balcony, staring down at the street below.
“Black SUV turning onto Carlton,” Barbera replied, the sound of her fingers furiously working over the keys of the Batcomputer meeting his ears. “The car is registered to a loan shark put away a few years ago. Suspected ties to Falcone.”
Bruce uttered a grunted mm in response, eyes narrowed beneath the cowl. His eyes scanned the road below. He caught the sounds of sirens wailing in the distance. “GCPD?”
“I’ve got them cutting off side roads. Headed your way now.”
He squared his shoulders and prepared himself to launch from the balcony, one hand braced on the ledge beneath him and the other on his belt. He cocked his head to the East and narrowed his eyes- yes, there. He watched the SUV turn the corner, skidding as it spun around the sharp turn and narrowly avoided oncoming traffic.
“Sixty-three miles an hour?” he guessed.
“Sixty-six. Sounds like you might be losing your touch.”
“Oracle,” Bruce warned. He scowled. That extra speed would change his entry angle.
“Sorry. Dropping in three-”
Bruce’s hand shot to his belt.
“Two-”
The end of the grappling hook shot out from the device in his hand and buried itself within the construction scaffolding across from him. He gave a single tug, then launched himself from the balcony-
“One-”
- And crashed feet first into the rear passenger window of the interior of the modified SUV, seats removed to provide more space in the back. Panicked shouts rang out as glass shards shattered across the interior. Bruce pulled his cape over the lower half of his face, preventing glass from cutting his skin as he hit the floor.
The vehicle swerved and he used the momentum to bring his elbow into collision with a man’s partially covered face, his jaw making a distressing crack at the impact. His other hand lashed out, grabbing the driver by his hair and slamming his face against the steering wheel. The driver’s nose crunched and blood sprayed against the vehicle’s dash.
Hands grasped at his suit and he drove his knee into the third assailant’s ribs, sending him stumbling backwards. Your muffled shriek filled the interior of the SUV as the vehicle swerved and momentarily rocked into the curb.
The driver’s hands gripped at Bruce’s wrist behind his head, his foot flooring the accelerator. Bruce let out a tsk as he lunged forward and looped his arm around the driver’s neck. The man’s shrill scream was quickly silenced as Bruce squeezed the man’s neck in the juncture of his elbow and bicep.
He pulled the man backwards and used his opposite hand to stabilize the chokehold. His freehand reached for the steering wheel, guiding the vehicle down the road. He just needed a moment-
The driver finally went limp in Bruce’s arms. He tugged, pulling the man from his seat and wedged a batarang against the brake, quickly bleeding off speed.
Muffled screams filled the room, followed by a grunt of pain. Familiar hands raked over Bruce’s belt. He gripped the wheel with one hand and turned his head just in time to see a zap of electricity come to life.
You dove towards the third kidnapper, barreling into him and driving the taser into the side of his neck. The man screamed, spasmed, and went limp.
You panted around the gag in your mouth, your hands chained together in front of you. You held the taser tightly in your hands, glaring down with a fiery expression.
When you turned your gaze on him, that fiery passion was replaced with a soft, mirthful glint in your eye. You gave him your best smile, despite the gag, and a cheesy thumbs up.
Bruce scowled, despite the way his heart skipped a beat.
Dick Grayson:
Why did you always have to rush into things?
Of course it was a set up. That was so obvious now that you had a split lip and blood trickling from your nose. It was a last ditch effort on the part of some petty criminals who wanted a piece of the Wayne wealth in exchange for Dick’s hapless partner.
The masked goons cornered you in your own apartment, toying with you like cats stalking a mouse. One swung a pipe wrench and you skittered backwards, nearly bumping into the end table next to your couch. You really needed to move that when this was all over, and make sure the space was less cluttered so you wouldn’t get tripped up like this again-
A blade came slashing down, glinting in the waning sunlight that filled your apartment as it narrowly missed your face. Your curse was met by vicious laughter. With a snarl, you gripped the end table and hucked it at the figure holding the blade.
Two of the goons jumped away from the end table as it flung towards them. You took the chance to dash to the kitchen, knocking over and tossing random items in your wake. As much as you appreciated the self defense training Dick had put you through, you didn’t trust yourself against their weapons. You took solace in knowing they weren’t here to kill you… but that didn’t mean they weren’t more than willing to rough you up.
You just needed to waste some time. So you threw a plate, a beautiful, arbor rimmed plate that had been a gift to you and Dick from Selina and Bruce (you suspected Selina stole them.) The assailants dodged the ceramic, so you snatched the detachable faucet and sprayed the nearest goon in the face with cold water. Too bad they were smart enough to wear masks.
And then you saw the balcony door slide open. It all happened so fast, a flash of black, blue, and silver darting into the space. Metal clashed with skin, a sickening thunk sounding as an escrima collided with an attacker’s skull. An angered shout tore through the air, only to be quickly silenced by a thud as the outspoken figure hit the floor.
It was over in a matter of moments. Three unconscious bodies on the floor, tucked out of sight behind your kitchen island, and a shadowed figure huffing agitated breaths through gritted teeth. Spots of blood on the escrima, on his face.
You blinked once, twice, clearing the fog from your vision. Nightwing- Dick loomed across from you. He tucked the escrimas behind his back and turned to face you, the scrunch in his brow covered by his mask.
“Are you alright?” you asked, voice barely above a tremble.
His expression softened immediately. He heaved a sigh and dashed around the kitchen island, sweeping you into his tight grasp. You wrapped your arms around him just as eagerly, pressing your face to the stretchy fabric of his suit.
“Should be asking you that, love.” Dick pulled away slightly, holding you at arms length. Though you couldn’t see his eyes through his mask, you knew he was carefully taking stock of your injuries.
“Just a few scrapes,” you said with a reassuring smile in spite of the way your swollen lip burned. “You should see the other guys.”
Dick barked out a laugh and pulled you flush against him once again, burying you in a tight embrace.
Jason Todd:
You should have called a cab.
Rain poured down on you, drenching you to the skin. Rain hadn’t been on the forecast today–you always made sure to check on days you chose to walk to-and-from work. When you had stepped out of the office building to find a slight drizzle dappling the sidewalk, you had thought nothing of it. Like many other Gothamites, you had assumed it was a passing spring weather.
Now the storm drains gurgled pitifully as water gushed into it. Your clothes were sodden, shoes waterlogged, mood dampened. You squelched down the sidewalk with a sour expression plastered across your features. The torrential downpour quieted your sentences, muffling your ears to the acute sound of footsteps following you from a distance.
You turned onto the next block and huffed, the wind now buffeting you face on. What a dreary, horrible day to be let off late from work. Jason would likely be on patrol by now, leaving you to sit alone in your shared apartment, reheating whatever he had left over from lunch. Maybe you could curl up in your bed and dive into that novel you had both been reading. That could make for a good conversation to wind him down from the emotional high of his patrol-
Foreign hands snatched you from your thoughts and dragged you into a dark alley, your scream muffled by a gloved palm.
You were slammed face first into a brick wall, the rough texture scraping your cheek. You bit back a snarl as the hands turned you around and smacked the back of your head against the hard stone. The chill edge of a blade was pressed to your throat and when your eyes readjusted to the sudden darkness and stinging pain in your head you were met with a masked figure. Great, because what you really needed after a long day was a mugging.
You fought viciously as the figures around you herded you down the back alley like a spitting, snarling animal. You stomped your heel on their feet, bit at their hands, kicked and flailed until you heard muffled requests for rope and chloroform. It wasn’t until you saw the van tucked away beside an industrial grade dumpster that you began caterwauling like an anguished banshee.
You were relieved by the sound of a familiar thump at the edge of the alleyway–you would recognize the sound of those heavy boots dropping anywhere, with how often you heard them on your fire escape. Your attackers slammed you against the van and you barked out a gleeful laugh at the sight. The attackers had a moment to turn their heads before Red Hood was descending on them with ferocity. You turned away, pressing your forehead to the van.
Screams, bones cracking, bodies hitting the ground. It was over quickly. When you turned to face him, his armored chest was heaving and he clenched and unclenched his fists at his side. You knew better than to touch him when he was this high strung, so you settled for the safer option.
“Took you look enough,” you teased breathlessly, keeping your gaze one the way the red surface of his helmet snapped to face you instead of on the (you hoped) unconscious kidnappers. “I was starting to wonder if I was going to have to take care of this myself.”
The toe of Jason’s boot nudged an unconscious figure, a red and rapidly welting bite mark blossoming on the individual’s hand and wrist. “I don’t doubt you could’ve, but a little help never hurt.”
You cracked a smile, softening the hard lines of your expression in the hopes it would ease him. His shoulders relaxed at your placating gesture. You extended a hand, fingers spread in a silent offer.
“Walk me home?” you asked, more for his benefit than yours. Your heart still pounded in your chest, but the tightness eased when he interlaced his gloved fingers with yours.
Tim Drake:
Warehouses were such a cliché place to harbor an abductee. What happened to creativity? Tim crawled through an upper window of the dilapidated warehouse, some thirty feet above the ground. He stepped carefully across the rafters as he surveyed the scene.
There you were, a normal college student tied to a chair–well, normal if you ignore the fact that you were rumored to be in a relationship with the Timothy Drake-Wayne. He frowned at the sight of your arms twisted behind you and tied to the back of the chair. They had you situated in the center of the empty room with goons patrolling around you. His eyes sought a singular figure atop a pile of scrap, a rifle in hand. The figure searched the rafters–Tim would have to be careful to avoid him.
Tim stalked across the rafters, keeping to the shadows. He crept across one of the beams that bridged the center of the warehouse, ducking low and staying out of the light. His eyes were fixed on you-
Oh. You perked up, your head lifting and shoulders easing. You knew he was there somewhere, judging by the way your head turned slightly to scan the open room. You tilted your head, a flimsy gesture towards a second figure, patrolling near you with one hand tucked away in her coat. A hidden weapon? He bit back a smile at your clever aid.
Tim took another step, and something clanged. He looked below him, spotting a hook hanging from a long chain, the chain swinging under the beams subtle movements. He turned just in time to see the sniper swing his rifle in the direction of the sound-
You screamed.
The shrill shriek shook each of the assailants and all eyes turned to you. He exhaled a harsh breath of relief as you wailed and the masked figures moved in towards you. The sniper’s weapons whipped towards you and away from Tim.
Tim dropped. His landing was cushioned by the goon you had pointed out, knocking the figure to the ground. He used the momentum to carry himself into a roll, then launched to his feet and barrelled into the next unsuspecting kidnapper. This one was ready, his hands up in fists. Tim gave an opening and ducked as the man’s fist sailed past Tim. He gripped the attacker's arm and yanked, tossing him over Tim’s shoulder. The man landed with a thunk and Tim was quick to follow, extracting a pair of cuffs from his belt and linking the two fallen attackers together.
A shot rang out. It seemed the sniper wasn’t very good, considering Tim remained fully intact. His hands dipped to his belt again and withdrew a few batarangs. A quick volley knocked the sniper's mask askew and sent them stumbling down the rickety pile of scrap they stood upon. He used the opening to launch himself across the room, bo staff extending in hand. He swept the kidnapper’s legs, sending the figure tumbling down the pile.
“How did you know I was here?” he asked as he knelt to cuff and gag the attacker, kicking the rifle aside in the process.
“It got drafty,” you called back from where you sat tied in the center of the room. “Must’ve left the window open.”

the city’s familiar hum drifted through the windows of your apartment, a constant murmur that usually comforted you. tonight though? it was drowned out by the pounding of your heart, louder than the traffic outside. you sat curled up on the couch, trying to focus on a movie, but your mind kept drifting back to the unsettling feeling that had been gnawing at you for weeks.
at first, it was subtle. small things you couldn’t quite explain. the sense of being watched when you walked down the street. strange calls in the middle of the night that hung up the moment you answered them. then, you began noticing changes in your apartment. things out of place. your doors slightly ajar when you were sure you’d closed them
and then came the messages.
the first one had been just a picture, your apartment building, taken from across the street. the second was a shot of you, taken through your window while you were inside, unaware. you tried to tell yourself it was just a sick prank, but deep down, you knew better. someone was watching you.
your phone buzzed, making you jump.  glancing down at the screen, your stomach twisting as you saw the notification. another unknown number. you didn’t want to answer, but you knew you couldn’t ignore it.
taking a deep breath, you pick up.
“hello?” your voice was steady, but your hand trembled slightly.
silence greeted you at first. then, a voice. low and distorted in your ear.
“you shouldn’t leave your curtains open like that. i can see everything.”
your heart stopped. the voice was unfamiliar, masked by some kind of device that made it impossible to recognize. but the words made your blood run cold. you glanced toward the windows, the curtains drawn, but it didn’t matter. you felt exposed, vulnerable.
“who is this?” you demanded, trying to keep your voice firm, though the tremor of fear betrayed you.
the voice chuckled, slow and deliberate. “you’ve been asking the wrong questions. it’s not who i am… it’s when i’ll come for you.”
you swallowed hard, backing away from the window, scanning the room. “this isn’t funny,” you said, the quiver in your voice made it clear you didn’t believe your own words.
“oh, it’s no joke,” the voice replied smoothly. “i’ve been watching you for a long time. waiting for the right moment. you never even seemed to notice.”
the air felt thick, like it was pressing down on you, making it harder to breathe. you gripped your phone tighter, your mind racing trying to find some kind of explanation. “what do you want from me?”
another chuckle, darker this time. “i just want you to listen. i want you to understand that you’re mine. no one else gets to have you.”
you stumbled back, your hand gripping the edge of the kitchen counter to steady yourself.
“you’re insane,” you whispered.
“no,” the voice replied, a soft menace threading through. “i’m just patient and i’m finally done waiting.”
pounding at the door made you drop the phone in shock. you spun around, staring at the entrance to your apartment, your pulse quickening. the knock came again, slower and more deliberate, like whoever was on the other side knew you were too scared to answer.
without thinking, you grabbed the phone off the floor, your hands shaking as you dialed the police. but before you could even hit send, another message appeared on the screen, a photo of your door, taken from the hallway. the same door now rattling as the knocks turned more aggressive.
“i told you i’d be close,” the voice hissed through the phone, as if reading your thoughts.
you clutched the phone to your chest, backing away from the door. it was locked, but you knew that wouldn’t stop him for long. panic surged through you as the knocks stopped, replaced by a chilling silence. the calm before the storm.
your phone buzzed again, a text this time. you stared down at it, dread settling in the pit of your stomach as you read the message:
let me in, or i’ll let myself in.
you swallowed hard, your eyes darting to the window. fifth floor. no fire escape. there was no way out.
then, the door clicked.
your blood froze as you heard the subtle sound of the lock turning, the doorknob twisting slowly. you had locked it, you were sure of it. but now it was opening, inch by inch. and then, through the crack of the door, you saw it, pale white and expressionless. the mask.
they stepped inside, closing the door behind them with a slow, deliberate movement. they were tall, dressed in black, their gloved hands resting calmly at their sides. they didn’t speak, just stood there, the mask tilting slightly as whoever it was regarded you, as though you were the prey they’d finally caught.
your breath came in shallow gasps as you backed away, your mind racing for a plan. you grabbed a kitchen knife from the counter, holding it in front of you with trembling hands.
“stay back!” you shouted, though the fear in your voice was unmistakable.
the masked figure tilted their head again, then slowly reached up to the mask. for a moment, you thought they were going to lunge, but instead, they pulled the mask off in one fluid motion, revealing the face beneath.
it was josh.
your heart thundered in your chest when the realisation crashed down on you. your friend. someone you’d trusted, laughed with, shared countless moments with, was standing in front of you, twisted by something dark.
josh smiled, but it wasn’t the familiar, friendly smile you knew. it was something darker, more menacing. “surprised?”
you shook your head, trying to make sense of what you were seeing. “josh… why?”
he stepped closer, ignoring the knife you held between you. “why? because i’ve always wanted you and you never saw it. never saw me. but now… you don’t have a choice.”
you stumbled back, your mind reeling, your grip on the knife faltering. “this isn’t you,” you whispered, though you weren’t sure if you were trying to convince him or yourself.
josh’s smile widened. “oh, it’s me. the real me. and i’ve been planning this for a long time.”
he lunged suddenly, and you swung the knife, but he grabbed your wrist with force, yanking the blade from your hand and tossing it aside like it was nothing. his face was inches from yours now, his breath hot against your skin as he whispered:
“no one else gets to have you, no one but me.”
your breath came out in shallow gasps as josh’s grip tightened around your wrist. his touch was too rough, too possessive, as he pulled you closer. there was something in his eyes, something disturbingly calm.
“josh, stop,” you choked out, your voice trembling, barely being able to hold back the tears. you didn’t want to believe this was the same person you had once felt a connection with, the one who made you laugh and feel safe.
his face was inches from yours now, his eyes dark with obsession. the familiar warmth that once made you feel safe was long gone, replaced by something colder, more dangerous.
“you don’t get it,” he said softly, almost as if explaining something simple to a child. “i’ve been waiting for this. for you. no one else gets you like i do.”
you shook your head, pulling at your trapped wrist. “you’re not thinking straight,” you tried to reason with him, desperation creeping into your voice. “this… this isn’t you.”
he laughed, a low, humourless sound that sent chills down your spine. “this is the real me,” he said, tilting his head. “i’ve just been hiding it. but you… you’ve always been the one i couldn’t hide from.”
you had to get out of here, had to get away from him. but he was so close, his hold on you unrelenting.
“i won’t hurt you,” he whispered, his voice turning soft again, almost affectionate. “i would never hurt you. but if you try to leave… if you run…” his eyes darkened, his expression hardening for just a second. “i can’t let that happen.”
josh’s grip tightened as you winced in pain, struggling to pull away. but no matter how much you tried, his strength overpowered you. you needed to think, to act before it was too late. the knife lay on the floor, just out of reach, glinting mockingly under the dim kitchen light.
“josh, you’re scaring me,” you whispered, your voice shaking with a mix of terror and desperation. “please, just stop. we can talk about this.”
he tilted his head, his eyes narrowing. “you don’t understand,” he said softly, as if talking to a frightened child. “there’s nothing to talk about. it’s already decided. you belong with me.”
you took another cautious step back, searching for anything that could help you escape. but he was quick, lunging forward again, catching you by the waist and pinning you against the wall. the air left your lungs as you collided, the cold surface pressing into your back.
you gasped, you could feel his breath on your skin, it taking every ounce of willpower to keep your composure. “josh, don’t do this,” you pleaded, struggling against his hold.
he leaned closer, his voice a whisper. “you can’t run from me. you’re mine now.”
with that, he pressed his body against yours and for a fleeting moment, you caught a glimpse of the boy you once knew. but the flicker of familiarity vanished just as quickly, replaced by the overwhelming dread of what he had become. you had to escape, before it was too late.
summoning every ounce of strength, you pushed against him, twisting your body just enough to create a sliver of space. “josh, please!” you cried, desperation lacing your voice. “you can still walk away!”
his expression hardened, a mix of anger and confusion flashing across his face. for an instant, it felt like he was fighting against the darkness that had taken hold of him. “you don’t understand!” he shouted, the intensity in his voice causing you to flinch. “i’ve waited too long for this!”
in that moment, you realised you couldn’t reason with him. as he leaned in, ready to press his advantage, you kicked hard at his knee, feeling it buckle beneath you. he stumbled back, surprise etched across his features.
taking your chance, you dashed past him, racing toward the door. you fumbled with the lock, your hands shaking, heart pounding as adrenaline rushed through you. you could hear him recovering, his footsteps echoing behind you. the door clicked open just as you felt his hand graze your shoulder.
“stop!” he shouted, but you didn’t look back. you burst through the door and into the dimly lit hallway, sprinting toward the stairs. the weight of his presence lifting with every stride.
you charged down the steps, the cold air rushing around you as you burst out into the night. the city lights blurred around you and the familiar sounds of traffic and laughter filled your ears, grounding you.
your lungs burned as you ran, you didn’t stop until you reached the street, gasping for breath. you turned to look back at the building, he wouldn’t follow you out here, not with so many eyes watching.
but the safety of the crowd didn’t quiet the storm of dread brewing in your chest. you’d escaped him this time, but the knowledge that he was still out there, lurking in the shadows, waiting for another opportunity to strike, gnawed at you. you could feel the weight of his gaze, a ghostly presence that would haunt your every step.
with shaking hands, you pulled out your phone and dialled 911, your voice steadying as you explained everything. but even as you spoke, you couldn’t shake the feeling that the night wasn’t truly over.
josh would never let you go.
not now, not ever.

Nasty Girl (Fem!Reader x Ren Kaji) - NSFW
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: I was sitting in traffic, and Lick or Sum by GloRilla started playing, and I thought, “this would make Kaji blush if it blasted through his headphones.” Anyway, GloRilla and Tinashe songs are referenced below, but you don’t have to know those songs to enjoy the story 🙂
Synopsis: New Fear has been Unlocked: not disconnecting your music from your boyfriend's headphones. Now, he just has to match your freak.
Content Warning: Fem!Reader x Ren Kaji. Sensory Deprivation (hearing), lyrics are explicit, Kaji imagines you giving him a lap dance, mention of Kaji smelling your sex, cunnilingus, p in v, dom behavior, dirty talk, use of the words slut and brat, ass smacking, talk of worshipping that ass, and technically a cumshot/creampie combo. Tis smut. Minors Do Not Interact.
Word Count: 2.4K
Divider by @strangergraphics. Story banner by me.

If you and Kaji could add music sharing to the official list of love languages, it would be underlined, bolded, and highlighted as it serves as an integral part of your relationship.
You appreciate Kaji’s favorite genres. Some of your dates with him include attending concerts—hard-hitting drums and thunderous electric rifts from bands like Metallica, Slipknot, and Megadeth make up some of your fondest memories with him.
Kaji enjoys listening to you express your musical taste, too. You are most certainly not a monolith; your taste in music varies, drifting through the ebbs and flows of enjoying different beats and sounds as you float between different genres depending on your mood.
While some of the songs you like may not resonate with him personally, he’ll always nod along as you gush about your favorite artists. He adores how your face lights up, whether you’re talking about rock, metal, hip-hop, or everything else in between. So when you apologize because you’re "talking his ear off," he’ll shake his head and encourage you to keep going. “Please tell me more about Megan Thee Stallion’s new album.”
Not only do you two exchange opinions on music, but it also isn’t unusual for you to borrow his headphones to listen to your playlist.
One day, you were preparing to make dinner, so you reached for your cell phone to put on some motivational tunes to get you through the monotony of dicing vegetables.
As you pushed play on your phone, you tilted your head to the side. You didn’t hear lyrical prose coming from the speakers. Instead, you heard the distinct sound of deafening silence. You pushed the play button again, considering that maybe you hadn’t pressed the correct area on the screen.
Still, nothing.
As you pick up your device to investigate whether the volume is on, Kaji, seated on the couch in the other room, scrunches his nose.
The music from the band In Flames suddenly stopped and was replaced by what he assumed to be something you were attempting to listen to.
His eyebrows furrow as he genuinely listens to the lyrics.
Lick on my clit, make this pussy cream. Do this motherfucker how you do them Russian creams.
Yeah, there’s no doubt that this is from your playlist, and it was certainly…graphic.
Kaji rises from the couch and approaches the kitchen doorway, pausing under the doorframe to admire you. His eyes wander over your shape, your ass jutting out a bit as you lean your elbows on the counter.
The lyrics are still drilling into his ear, raunchier and more explicit than the first few lines he heard, but he can’t help but wonder if you’d be willing to sing these lyrics to him. He imagines your pretty lips mouthing filthy shit into his ear.
His cock twitches, thinking about you dancing to the song, flirting your hips and ass in his lap as you tease him, letting his hands explore your body as you dip low and bend over, letting him see the way your ass eats up the fabric of shorts. Before he knows it, he’s rock hard, the outline of his dick protruding through his black skinny jeans.
You still haven’t identified the problem, and right as you consider force-closing the application, you feel Kaji press his body against your back. You jump a little at his sudden presence and open your mouth to tell him to give you a warning next time, but before you can, he places one shell of the headphones over your ear, leaving the one closest to his mouth uncovered.
“Interesting taste you have. What did she say? ‘All over his breath like pussy flavored gum’”
Well, damn, then.
Your knees suddenly feel as though they may not be able to keep you upright, trembling and unstable, as if you’re a new babe learning how to walk again. You feel the warmth of his breath, sweet and cherry-flavored, on the back of your neck.
Your boyfriend never talks like this. Kaji isn’t vanilla by any means, but he definitely doesn’t say things like GloRilla does in her song.
You laugh nervously. Suddenly, you’re very aware of how hard he’s pressing your body into the edge of the counter.
“I didn’t realize that I hadn’t disconnected Bluetooth.”
“No, looks like you didn’t.”
Kaji reaches up and places the other headphone shell over your ear—music drowns out any of the sounds in the kitchen, like the ticking of the clock on the wall or Kaji’s breathing in your ear. Instead, it’s replaced with the beginning of Tinashe’s Nasty.
I've been a nasty girl, nasty.
As she asks if anyone’s going to match her freak, you can feel Kaji’s hands tracing down your body, squeezing your breasts through the thin fabric of your dress, fingers lingering over your nipples despite the presence of your bra. He knows your body so well that he can locate them simply from memory.
As he glides his hands down your stomach, you prepare for him to touch you where you need him the most. The drooling, twitching mess that she is needs him.
But Kaji’s hands move behind you instead of touching you where you ache. You let out an audible whine that earns you an unseen smirk. Yeah, he knows what you think you need, but he knows better.
Need somebody with a good technique Is somebody gonna match my nasty?
He crouches down, hands lifting your dress; you don’t need a verbal command to know to kick up your feet so he can pull your panties down and toss them to the side.
If you keep up with me I'll keep on comin' back
With his strong hands placed firmly on your ass, his fingers grip and fondle the plush flesh, earning a strangled moan from your throat. You wiggle your ass in an attempt to get him to stop toying with you and touch you. But all you earn is a searing smack to your ass cheek and Kaji’s eyes appreciating the way you jiggle for him.
If you do it too good I'm gonna get attached
You yelp, your skin feeling a brief sting from his palm. You pout, but honestly, you only have yourself to blame, and you should absolutely know better. Kaji prefers it when you behave yourself, but when you are fervent about acting up? Fine, either a firm smack to your ass or clit, or a hand wrapped around your throat is quick to put you in your place.
But he’s not cruel. Punishments are his last resort, and as he presses his lips to the tender spot where he smacked your ass, offering you a gentle peace treaty, you’re reminded of that.
You once again jerk from his touch, feeling like something is pricking at your ass, but the kitchen counter and the way he’s keeping you held against it leave you with limited escape routes.
Kaji licks the indentations his teeth made on your cheek, a low growl erupting from his throat.
Fuck, he wouldn’t call himself an ass worshipper, but he’d be willing to drop to his knees and press his forehead against the filthy ground on the street to pay homage to yours.
Cause it feels like heaven when it hurts so bad Baby, put it on me I like it just like that
“Kaji, that hurt!”
The benefit of you being unable to hear is that Kaji doesn’t have to answer you. If he did, you’d probably hate the answer. A monotone “Good” from him would probably warrant an attitude from you. And he doesn’t want attitude—at least not at this moment—he just wants a well-intentioned taste.
You gasp as he presses his face into your sex, nose nudging against your folds, inhaling all of you. His mouth is watering as his tongue licks up and down your already wet slit, your slick sticking to your folds in the way fresh honey sticks to a honeycomb. His fingers spread your cunt open, eyeing the way you already dribble like a slut for him.
Your eyes roll back as he delivers a peck to your pussy, then a longer kiss until his mouth forms in an opened-mouth make-out session with her, not being liberal with the use of his tongue. You begin to press yourself back onto his mouth, daring his tongue to be even deeper. And Kaji doesn’t fight you; you give a silent thanks that he’s allowing you to fuck his tongue.
He brings his hand between your thighs, allowing the palm of his hand to rub against your clit as you bounce back on his face.
“You’re so messy,” he growls into your cunt as your slick drips down his chin and drenches his palm. And it’s the god-honest truth; your cunt is dripping, hot, wet, thick, and languid, coating his tongue and throat with your essence. You’re his favorite indulgence. When he has a sweet tooth, he doesn’t think of or crave candy; he thinks of you.
As your cum cascades into his mouth, his tongue cleans up every inch of you, tongue sliding between your folds, over your clit, your clitoral hood, and even your inner thighs. By the time he considers it a job well done, you’re glistening in his saliva more so than your cum.
Wiping his mouth against the back of his hand, he rises again to take his place pressed against your back.
“K-Kaji,” your moan is desperate as you press your ass against his crotch. “Need you so bad, baby!”
Kaji can’t help but keep his eyes on you as your head falls back to rest on his shoulder. You don’t realize how loud you’re being with the music playing in your ears, but he desperately hopes the neighbors can hear every single thing you yell.
Each gasp and moan leaving your lips has him throbbing, his heart pounding in his chest as his eyes travel down to your neck, watching you swallow so thickly, eyes pooling with desperation and pleading to have him, him, him.
He hikes one of your legs onto the counter, forcing you to knock over some of the produce you were planning to use for dinner.
He’s not very patient, even in moments where he wants to savor you; he’s his own worst enemy and too eager to feel you around him. He’s already stretching your cunt apart with the head of his dick, and you lean over to give him a better angle.
Kaji, ever the appreciative one, bottoms out immediately, stretching your hole to the thickest part of him.
With each jerk of his hips, the headphones shift until they clatter onto the counter in front of you. The sounds you were unable to hear before overwhelm your senses immediately. You catch the end of Kaji sputtering your name so loudly that you’re surprised you didn’t hear him over the music.
“Fuck, why are you so messy?” He rasps out, breath shakey and labored not from exertion but from simply being so consumed by his desire for you he can’t help but suck in too much oxygen.
“M-maybe it’s the way you just slobbered on my pussy?”
“Oh, god. There’s that fucking mouth. Headphones must be off.” You earn another smack to your ass and the quickening of his ruts into your sopping cunt. “Like you better when you’re too busy moaning like a slut to be a brat.”
You practically mewl in appreciation of being called a slut and a brat in the same sentence.
“Yeah, look at ya squeezing me tight, brat. Jerkin’ me off with your needy pussy.”
You bury your face into the crook of your elbow, moaning and face heating up because he’s fucking right; your pussy is wringing him, hoping to coax every last drop of his cum out of his balls.
Kaji hisses. Without warning, your cunt clamps down onto him, halting his rutting, “Fuck, pretty girl. Already?”
You whine because, really, what the fuck were you supposed to do? He should be praising you for holding on this long.
As your clenching stops, he has a bit more clearance to continue his thrusts, bottoming out into your tight, orgasming sex. The wet, squelching sound your pussy makes as Kaji hilts you are loud,  filthy, lewd, practically sounding of nothing but sin. He can’t help but think, “like those songs she likes,” as he whimpers at the thought.
“Fuck, well, I’m glad you’re feeling good. Gonna let me cum now?” He’s teasing you because, of course, he can cum. You aren’t stopping him—the more the fucking merrier. You try to utter precisely that, but he juts his hips sharply, knowing you were going to say something with that smart-ass mouth of yours, the tip of his dick drilling against your g-spot.
Your nails scrape against the counter, trying to grip and claw at something. “K-kaji, I’m…!”
You bite your lip, that all-too-familiar tightening overtaking you until it bursts, and another orgasm rips through you.
Kaji groans and pulls out with urgency because there’s something he has to do. Call it a compulsion or whatever label you want to assign to it, but it’s something he’s compelled to do to you when the urge to cum inside doesn’t sway him.
He spreads your labia with his thumb, butterflying your pretty pussy for him. He’s giving himself solid pumps with his free hand, eyes never leaving your ass, loving the way it looks sticking out like this for him. He gasps, his moan raspy but so deliciously loud. “Fuck, fuck, fuck here it c-comes!”
His cum shoots out, splattering all over your waiting hole until it’s so covered by his thick, white seed that he can’t see your opening anymore. And the final part of the ritual? Smearing it all over your folds, the fleshy pink of you, and pushing it back in with the tip of his dick for good measure.
“What even is that fetish called?” you mumble.
“I don’t have a fetish. I just like doing…this.” He can’t tear his eyes away at how pretty she looks, covered in white.
He finally places a kiss on the back of your neck, his hand reaching around your fucked out and bent over form to grasp his headphones. “Forget cooking. Let’s order in.”
And maybe after this romp in the kitchen, you both had inadvertently conditioned yourselves to use certain songs to initiate sex. His dick automatically hardening when you play songs that bring him back to the moment in the kitchen, and him placing the headphones over your ears as he fucks you to the same music that celebrates getting your back blown out.

“wait why are you turning? we’re supposed to go down this street for another light.”
the muted sound of rain echoes inside the car; droplets of water splattering against the fogged windshield blurred the bright traffic lights, a mixture of green and red reflecting against the dash.
“pitstop. gotta pick up some stuff.” chad taps his fingers against the steering wheel impatiently – waiting for the light to turn green. his thumb smooths over the grooves that were engraved in the leather, frustration threatening to expose from his composed state. “get the fuck off your phone! go, the light is green.”
“pick up stuff? not drugs, right…?” ethan looks up from his phone, his illuminated screen lighting his features from the shadows of the night. with a buzz, he focuses his attention back to his device. a smile graces his lips as he reads over your notification, fingers moving quick to type a response to you.
“no, not drugs. condoms.”
adjusting the seat belt that suddenly became uncomfortable around his neck, ethan swallows thickly,  a blush creeping onto his cheeks. “oh.”
“i mean, you’re gonna need them. i doubt nothing’s gonna happen between you and her tonight.” pulling into the lot, chad cheekily smiles over to his friend, playfully hitting his arm.
“w-what? we aren’t anything serious, i don’t think she looks at me like that.” leaning towards the window to escape chad’s ruthless teasing, he resisted the urge to check the notification that had vibrated his phone – knowing it was from you.
“she definitely does, she’s always giving you that look.” throwing his hands up in gratitude when he found a parking spot, chad carefully pulled into the tight spot. “you guys are so annoying, everyone can see it but you two.”
“what look?” unbuckling his seat belt with a click, ethan chews on his bottom lip to stop the smile that threatened to show on his face.
“the ‘i want to fuck you’ look.” turning the engine off with the twist of a key, chad unbuckles and climbs out of the car. “just fuck already, what’s stopping you.” watching ethan take off the cardboard helmet of his costume, he chuckles lightly. “i mean, she wants to fuck a guy dressed up as a cardboard robot.”
“hey. it’s from that movie murder party, and maybe put on a shirt before you comment on my costume.” opening the passenger door, ethan reaches into the back seat, grabbing a plain white tank and tossing it to the shirtless farmer standing in the drizzling rain.
“oh right.”
“i don’t think there is a ‘fuck me look’ i think you’re thinking way into things.” stepping out and shutting the door, ethan stuffs his phone and wallet into his back pocket, walking towards the pharmacy with long strides to avoid the rain.
“what would you know, you’re a virgin.” locking the car with a loud beep, chad swings his lanyard around his fingers, letting his keys jangle against each other carelessly. laughing loudly when he catches a glimpse of ethan’s shocked expression, he holds his hands out in reassurance. “well i mean, after tonight you won’t be.”
“i’m not gonna do anything with her unless she wants me to.” walking past the automated doors, he waits for chad to walk in front of him, not wanting to waste time and lead the two into the wrong aisle.
“well of course, but it’s better to be safe than sorry at the end of the night. don’t wanna get her pregnant or anything.” chad grins, walking towards an aisle in the back – almost too easily, like he’s been here a million times.
“right. how do you…put one on?” glancing at the many colorful boxes to his left, he clears his throat when turning to his right, staring at the shelf of the pregnancy test.
“open the wrapper, careful not to rip it that’s important, then just slide it on. if it’s that much trouble just ask the girl.” chad hums to the music playing overhead in the store, squatting down to get a peak at the bottom shelves.
“oh, okay. what about lube, think i’ll need that?” eyeing the different brands of condoms, he  feels his phone buzz again, the weight of his phone all of a sudden feeling heavy in his pants.
2 messages from angel girl
ethan smiles at the notifications, quickly swiping into his phone to answer you. warmth bubbles in his chest as he replies, watching his message turn from sent to read in just a second.
“hey, are you listening to me?”
“huh?” looking up from his phone, his smile drops, snapping out of his dazed state.
“i said, lube is a waste of money. just use spit, works the same if you can also get her wet.” picking up a box of magnums, chad stands from his squatted position, patting out the creases in his pants before heading to the register. “there’s nothing to be worried about, bro. just make sure you focus when it happens, stay in the moment. the usual.”
“mhm.” now very anxious, ethan trails behind his roommate with twisted fingers. “maybe i should take the costume off?” picking at the hem of his shirt under the cardboard vest, he laughs awkwardly; imagining you taking his ridiculous costume off before climbing under the blankets had him shaking his head.
“maybe just keep the helmet, can’t not dress up at a halloween party.” grabbing his wallet from his pocket once they reached the self checkout machines, he scanned the box before swiping his card. “we should go, mindy’s been on my ass.”
the two of them ran to the car, seeking shelter from the rain that turned from a light drizzle to a thundering pour. ethan ran his hands through his hair, combing his damp brown hair out of his face. leaning back into the leather seat with a huff, he groaned dragging his hands down his cheeks, the cardboard around his chest stiffening his movements.
slipping his arms into the cut out holes, he shimmied the fake armor over his head and let it clumsily fall into the back seat. memories of you and him making the costume made him frown; he thought back to how pretty you look with ruffled hair, sitting on his bedroom floor in only pajamas, cutting away at the cardboard material with kid scissors, cursing at him when he accidentally cut out of the traced lines.
the loud crinkle of plastic strips him of his thoughts, chad loudly tearing into the box. “take a few. i’m just gonna leave the box in the car…for later.”
“think you’re gonna end up with tara tonight?” ethan teases with a smirk. picking at the golden packs, he holds them up to the window, letting the plastic shine against the dull streetlight.
“shut up, now strap in. we’re already late i cannot take another text from mindy.”
the far-off sound of music caught ethan’s attention as chad pulled into the neighborhood, a variety of cars piled into the driveway and along the street, lights flashing from the windows inside the house.
grabbing his poorly made helmet made of cardboard, he slipped it over his head, making sure it sat comfortably and evenly on top of his hair.
“did tara tell you what she was gonna wear?” checking his phone for your notification, ethan frowned slightly when finding out you had left him on read. he was only a few paces from the house, where he would soon find you. although the more he thought of you, the more the nerves began to eat at him. would you even want to sleep with him, what if he was going to make a fool of himself – what if you friendzoned him. rubbing his forehead with a sigh, he stuffed a few condoms into his pockets, his heart beating out of his chest.
“pirate i think, wanted to match but it was too last minute. what about your girl?” making sure the car was locked after they had got out, chad shoves his keys into his pants, letting the lanyard hang within view.
“she didn’t want to tell me, said it was gonna be a surprise.” feeling his heartbeat in his ears, ethan balled his fist tightly, fingernails digging into the palms of his hands. he didn’t want to mess things up with you, he was scared – scared that he would mess things up and lose the best person that had ever shown up in his life.
“relax, you look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“i’m trying, i’m just nervous. i don’t want things to go the wrong way tonight, what if i misread her.” stopping outside the door, he could hear the roar of music, walls vibrating with each base drop. the faint smell of marijuana and alcohol tickled his nose, his face churning immediately at the unpleasant smell.
“whatever happens is for a reason, don’t make sex your first priority. if she wants to fuck you, which im sure she does, she’ll make it clear. stop worrying.” chad places a hand on the brunette’s shoulder, squeezing comfortably.
“right. make sure i don’t drink too much? i actually want to remember this night.” taking one last deep breath, ethan turns the knob on the door, finally arriving at the party. an overwhelming amount of people crowded the kitchen, abandoned red solo cups lingering all over the house.
pushing through the crowd of people with curt apologies, ethan scanned over the horde of tipsy college students, looking for your face in the midst of it all. relaxing a bit when he saw anika in the corner of the room with mindy, he glanced over his shoulder to see if chad was following him before nudging his way through to his friends across the room.
“where have you guys been? i thought we agreed to be here 45 minutes ago!” mindy throws exasperated hands in the air, eyebrows raised mockingly.
“traffic. where’s y/n?” frowning when he didn’t see you amongst the other girls, he turned back to the kitchen to see if you were stuffed in there.
“she was here a second ago.i  think she went to ask tara if she knew where you were, but honestly who knows where that little pirate could be.” anika shrugs lightly at the question, repositioning her legs over her girlfriend’s. “what’s going on with you two anyways?”
“noth-”
“ethan?”
spinning on his heel at the sound of your voice, he can’t help but let a smile paint his lips. his voice catching in his throat when he sees you, he drops his arms to his side. jaw dropping ever so slightly, he couldn’t stop the way he looked you up and down, engraving your image in the back of his mind.
you were head to toe in white; high socks that squeezed the fat of your thighs, a white mini skirt  that just barely covered the curve of your ass, a semi see through corset, and to top it all off – a pair of small feathery wings that sat on your exposed shoulders.
“an angel.”
“surprise! where’s the rest of your costume? we worked so hard on it.” stepping closer to him to fix his lopsided helmet, you brushed hair out of his eyes with a pout.
“left it in the car, didn’t want it to get ruined or anything.” looking down at you with a smile, he lets his hands wander to your hips; his thumbs caressing your skin just above the waistline of your short mini skirt.
“oh, that’s a shame. you looked so cute in it.” pinching his cheeks in a playful manner, you bit your lip with a laugh, watching him squirm away from you. “let’s get a drink, i’ve been waiting for you.”
grabbing his hand in your left, you intertwined your fingers together, pulling him to the crowded kitchen. half filled bottles and empty plastic cups littered the marble countertop, a sticky residue sheening over the surface of the table.
“hm, i think there’s enough for a couple shots.”
letting go of his hand but still keeping him close, you leaned over the island to grab cups; unscrewing the cap of a half empty vodka bottle, you chewed your lip in concentration, completely eyeballing the amount of liquor you poured into the plastic cup.
“bottoms up, baby!” bringing the cup up to your lips, you cringed lightly, the smell of alcohol making your eyes water. squeezing your eyes shut tightly, you tilted your head back letting the liquid flow into your mouth before swallowing. shaking your head with a groan, you stuck your tongue out feeling the booze burn down your throat, almost instantly warming your chest. “so gross.”
ethan hesitated before drinking the foul smelling alcohol, coughing abruptly afterwards. “not worth it.” hearing you laugh at him, he teasingly shoved your shoulder with a soft smile. “do you think…we could talk?”
“we’re talking right now, pretty boy.” starting to pour another round of shots, you briefly glanced up at him at his silence. “is something wrong?”
“nothing’s wrong, i just meant talk in private.” taking off his fake helmet, he nervously rubbed the back of his neck – patiently waiting for you to finish taking another shot before replying.
“let’s go upstairs.” wiping your lips with the back of your hand, you tossed your now empty cups in the trash before grabbing his wrist and pulling him through the house. music blaring uncomfortably in your ear, you took in your surroundings before leaving; people at every inch of the house, a line forming for the bathroom, corners where couples made out, and a couch where all of your friends sat. catching chad’s eye, he gave you a knowing smirk while raising his eyebrows. flipping him off in return, you squeezed ethan’s wrist lightly, guiding him up the stairs and to an empty bedroom.
ethan tried his hardest not to look up your skirt while you walked in front of him, but of course he failed. he caught a glimpse of your undergarments – pretty pink panties with a white lace lining the edges. swallowing his guilt, he shifted his gaze back to the ground, fearing that he would get worked up the longer he stared. “do you know where you’re going?”
“not in the slightest, but it’s a big house, there’s bound to be one more vacant bedroom.” jiggling the knobs of each door, you giggled quietly hearing the muted moans from inside occupied rooms. “oh here.” twisting the handle and peeking inside, you opened the door for him when deeming it was clear.
closing and locking the door behind you, you made your way over to the bed, sitting on the edge with your hands neatly folded in your lap. “what’s on your mind? you’re kinda scaring me.”
dropping his costume prop near the door, ethan covered his face, groaning into his hands before finally piling up enough courage to look you in the eye. “what are we?”
“what do you mean?” furrowing your brows with an awkward laugh, you could feel heat creep up your neck, the liquor settling in your stomach.
“you’re always calling me these names, and touching me in ways you don’t do with anyone else. i just want to know if you’re playing with me.” sitting next to you on the bed, he kept a fair distance respecting your boundaries. “i like you a lot. more than i want to, i need to know if you feel the same.”
“i-” sighing loudly with shaky hands, you shifted your position, sitting on your knees while facing him. the hem of your skirt creeping up your thighs as you sat back. “i like you too, i just didn’t know how to tell you.” crawling closer to him, you reached for his hand, pressing his palm to your heart. “this is how you make me feel. all the time.”
“can i kiss you?”
nodding with a big grin, you let him lean forward to connect your lips. putting a hand on his shoulder to stabilize yourself, you hummed softly feeling him pull you closer, straight into his lap. the kiss was sweet and soft, lips moving slowly against each other, teeth clashing together with inexperience. you wrapped your arms around his neck, slightly grinding your hips down into his. “fuck, sorry.”
whining into your mouth, ethan squeezed your hips harshly. “no, please. again, m’felt good.” pulling away from your lips with a heavy pant, he cupped your face, thumb smoothing over your cheekbone.
“yeah? s’that why you brought me up here?” giggling, you rolled your hips again, the seam of his pants nudging at your clothed clit. lips parting with a quiet moan, you bit the inside of your cheek, a blush painting your cheeks.
“maybe.” tilting your head up with his thumb, he pressed kisses down your exposed neck, nibbling and sucking numerous marks along the way. “fuck, i want you.” slipping his hand down your back, he squeezed the fat of your ass, mumbling against your neck.
“i know, baby. but not tonight.” pushing him away just enough to see his face, you pressed a sweet kiss to the button of his nose. “want your first time to be something you’ll remember, not even a little bit fuzzy.”
opening his mouth in protest, you shook your head – your opinion already set in stone. pecking his lips one last time, you climbed off of his lap.
“you’re such a tease”

Hello Vodika!
I don't know if you accept requests, but I would like to make one request. Could I have a request regarding our Commanders (Cody, Wolffe, Fox, Bly, Ponds, Gree, Neyo and Bacara) where they will seen their S/O in 79's dressed in their battalion colors? I wonder how the boys will react to this. 😉
I greet you warmly and wish you all the best in your life! ❤
His Colors
Pairings: Commander Cody x Reader, Commander Wolffe x Reader, Commander Fox x Reader, Commander Bly x Reader, Commander Neyo x Reader
Word Count: 2041 in total
Warnings: Some suggestive comments and actions
Tagging: @trixie2023 @n0vqni @imabeautifulbutterfly
A/N: hi there! I do always accept requests, so thank you very much for yours! I made the choice to only pick five Commanders of the ones you listed since I felt like it was going to get repetitive (and I don't know Ponds or Gree all that well).
Tumblr media
Commander Cody x Reader - Orange at 79s
Cody’s mouth goes dry when he sees her.
She’s clad in a tight dress. It's tight enough that Cody’s not actually sure how she’s breathing, let alone walking.
And it’s orange.
The same shade of orange that decorates the front of his armor.
She sees him, and a blinding smile crosses her face, as she waves at him. He watches her say something to her friend, and then she hurries over to him and flings herself into his arms, “Cody!”
“Cyare,” His voice is slightly hoarse, “You look—” He trails off, not having the right words to describe her look.
Her smile brightens, “You like?”
Cody’s hands settle, tightly, on her hips, pulling her flush against him. He’s still dressed in his armor and, for the first time, he wishes he had something a little more casual to wear.
Her smile, somehow, brightens even more. “Good. I bought it for you to enjoy.”
“Yeah?”
She leans in so her painted lips hover over his ear, “My lingerie matches.” She whispers.
Cody is pretty sure that her comment just broke something in his brain, because the only thing he can think of, now, is pale orange lingerie against her pretty skin.
“Why would you tell me that?” He asks, “Now I can’t think of anything else,”
She laughs, and Cody’s heart swells, “Good. Now I’m sure I’ll be able to keep your attention.”

Commander Wolffe x GN!Reader - Grey at the Park
You’re late. You’re very late.
It’s not your fault that there was an accident right outside your work, and you were stuck waiting for the traffic police to clean up the mess before you could leave.
But you’re still late.
You didn’t even have time to change. You’re still wearing your boring, grey scrubs. You went and bought a very nice outfit for your date with Wolffe.
And now you aren’t even going to be able to wear it.
It’s enough to make you want to cry.
Hopefully, Wolffe will still be waiting for you. He said he would, but you were supposed to meet an hour ago.
You wouldn’t blame him in the slightest for leaving.
You hurry into the park, heading straight for the meeting point. The meeting point is the bench near the fountain, the bench where you met him for the first time.
And he’s still there. A datapad in his hand, his gaze locked on the small device. You slow from your quick walk as you approach him. He really is so handsome.
He must have a sixth sense devoted to noticing people staring at him, though, because he lifts his gaze and meets yours. You watch as his gaze flickers down to your outfit, and you feel a surge of self-consciousness.
Scrubs aren’t designed to look flattering on anyone, after all.
You nervously smooth your hand down the front of your scrubs as he stands and walks over to you, an unusual smile on his handsome face. “I’m so sorry I’m late,” You start, “I didn’t even have time to go home and change. I bought an outfit that’s more attractive than—”
You stop when his hand presses against your cheek, and he leans in to catch your lips with his.
He breaks the kiss and you stare up at him in confusion. And then you realize that your scrubs are the same color as the grey on his armor.
“You look really good in my colors, cyar’ika.” He murmurs, “How about, instead of going to dinner, we go back to your place, and I show you just how good I think you look.”
And your face burns with flustered embarrassment.
You suppose he likes it.
Tumblr media
Commander Fox x GN!Reader - Red in the Senate Archives
Fox sighs as he folds his arms as he scans the archives.
It’s empty. Of course, it is. No one comes to the archives unless they need something.
He impatiently drums his fingers on his vambrace, seriously considering leaving. He has work to do, he shouldn’t have to wait for them to show up to do their job.
“Sorry, sorry! I’m here!” Fox turns when he hears a familiar voice and the, even more, familiar sound of heavy boots on the tiled floor. He’s not able to smother his smile when they come to a stop in front of him.
“You’re late, little bird.” Fox chides, though there’s no heat in his voice as he looks them over. They ran here from the lifts, obviously, there’s sweat on their brow and their short hair is plastered to their forehead.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry. The Chancellor needed me to deliver something to Senator Organa,” They gasp out, pressing their hand over their heart.
“You need to work out more.”
“Do not.”
“Do too.”
They scowl at him, and then unzip their jacket and toss it over the back of a chair, “I’m in perfect health, thank you.”
Fox’s breath catches in his throat when he sees the shirt that they’re wearing. It’s silky, and sheer in some places. And the same color as his armor.
His little bird is wearing his colors.
Fox steps closer to them, absently tossing his gloves on the table as well, before he lightly catches the hem of the, surprisingly delicate, shirt. “What’s this?” He breathes out.
They turn so they’re facing Fox, “I bought a new shirt at lunchtime.” Their smile becomes playfully innocent, “Do you like it?”
Fox steps closer to them, his free hand sliding to the back of their neck, “Where’s the archivist?”
“Went home. It’s after closing time,” They reply.
Fox hums thoughtfully, and the hand that was lightly gripping the hem of their shirt moves to the topmost button, unfastening it. And then it slowly moves down the front of their shirt.
“Fox—”
“Well, since we’re alone,” Fox murmurs, as he leans in to hover his lips over theirs and slowly continues to unbutton their shirt, “How about you sing me a song, little bird?”
His comment is rewarded with a delighted giggle, and Fox leans in to seal his lips over theirs.
His little bird wearing red is just not fair, really.
Tumblr media
Commander Bly x F!Reader - Yellow at sunset
Bly’s not sure what he did to deserve the attention of someone as amazing as her. Especially since everyone and their cousin seems to think that he has a thing for his general.
Hell, even his girl thought that he had a thing for his general.
It had been a hassle trying to convince her differently. Luckily, General Secura had been more than happy to talk to her. And tell her all about her amazing girlfriend.
In any event, the conversation had been enough that she said yes when Bly asked her out. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Doesn’t mean that he understands why she wants him, of all men. But he’s not going to question it.
“Bly?”
Her voice, soft and musical, causes him to whip his head around, a broad smile already crossing his face.
And there she is.
Standing several feet away from him, her pretty hair pulled into a loose braid over one of her shoulders, her painted lips spread into a warm smile.
And clad in a dress in his colors.
That, and the way that the setting sun paints her in golds and oranges, Bly finds himself at a loss for words.
Well, not really.
Only his words are all things like, “Marry me,” and “I love you”. Silly little comments like that.
Absently she plays with her braid, “Well, how do I look?” She asks shyly, “I know I don’t usually wear yellow—”
“You could wear a trash bag and still be the most stunning woman on any planet,” Bly says, once he manages to find his tongue.
She giggles, her hand coming up to cover her mouth.
If Bly ever has the displeasure of meeting the person who told her that her smile is weird-looking, he’s going to introduce them to his hunting knife. But he quickly shoves the thought to the side so he’s able to hurry to her side.
She smiles up at him as he stops in front of her, “You really like it?”
“I love it. You look amazing in my colors, you should wear them more often.” Bly lightly takes her hand in his and twirls her, pulling a startled laugh from her lips.
“Bly!”
“I just need to see from all angles,” He teases, as he twirls her again, the hem of her skirt flaring out, and twisting around her legs. “Yeah,” Bly breathes out, “You look perfect.”
“Thank you.”
He sets his free hand on her hip, “Dance with me?”
She averts her gaze, shyly. But there’s a smile on her lips as she nods. “As if you have to ask?”
Tumblr media
Commander Neyo x F!Reader - Burgundy at the Winery
You smile politely at the sommelier as he approaches you. You offer him Neyo’s name and mention that he should already be here, and the older man smiles kindly, “He’s sitting in the back. Follow me.”
This isn’t your first date with Neyo, you’ve been dating for well over a year at this point, but he’s been deployed for the last six months, and this is your first proper date since the war ended.
As much as you’d like him to move in with you, Neyo refuses. Claiming that you’ve only been dating for six months and that more time is needed to determine if the pair of you are a good fit.
He’s not wrong, of course.
But he’s been your pick since the first day you met him. It’s disheartening to think that he doesn’t feel the same way.
You take a deep breath and smooth the velvety material of your burgundy dress. It’s new, and it might, very well, be the most expensive thing that you own. You had it specially made to match the burgundy of Neyo’s armor.
Hopefully, he’ll like it.
Hopefully, he still likes you.
You see Neyo before he sees you. He’s wearing a dark burgundy button-up shirt and some nice slacks. If you had to guess, the top two buttons probably aren’t buttoned, because that’s the kind of man he is.
He’s nursing a glass of wine.
You feel your heart clench. You really do love him more than life itself. You hope he knows that.
You can tell when Neyo sees you.
While your handsome Commander would never slouch, he was sitting casually. And the moment he sees you, he straightens in his seat. As you approach, you see his gaze dart down your body, and you see his severe mein fade into something more welcoming.
Well, welcoming for him, at least.
Neyo stands as you stop by his table, “Cyare,” He lightly takes your hand and presses a kiss to your knuckles. Now that you’re closer you can see just how much he appreciates how you look right now. “You look beautiful,”
You smile at him, all warmth and affection, and you watch as something soft creeps into his gaze, “Well, I wasn’t trying to match with you, but we do make quite a striking pair, I think.”
He chuckles and brushes the backs of his fingers against your cheek, “Well, we certainly look better than some of the people here,” He agrees, and then his gaze sweeps down your body again, and something like hunger slides into his gaze, “I’ll just have to behave myself until we’re alone.”
You tilt your head, questioningly.
“Ah, cyar’ika,” Heat runs down your spine at the molten way he says his pet name for you, “You’re wearing my colors. You didn’t expect me to not react, did you?”
A small smile lifts your lips, “Well, that’s something to look forward to, isn’t it?”
Neyo’s grin is small and secretive, but he lightly releases your hand and pulls out the chair next to him, “Your chair, cyare.”
“Well, thank you, Commander.” You sink into the seat and have to muffle your giggle as he sweeps your hair off your neck to press a lingering kiss against your neck. Tonight is going to be fun.

“Inmate 012025, Ackerman. It’s time.”
With a loud thud, the heavy, titanium doors slide open, and bright light fills the small cell.
”Hands against the back wall. Make it quick.”
Levi stands up and walks to the back of his cell. With a sigh he raises his hands and presses them against the wall.
Immediately a guard grabs his arms and places them behind his back, before clicking the cold cuffs around his wrists.
“Don’t give us any trouble now, Ackerman.”
As if he would do something today, of all days.
The two guards lead him down the corridor, past all the other cell doors; Levi can feel the other inmates staring out from the tiny window on their cell door. Their eyes follow him, wild and predatory.
But Levi Ackerman had never been their prey.
One of the guards presses a code into a keypad and another heavy door opens. There’s a series of offices, all behind thick-plated, forcefield glass.  The three men move toward a desk where a woman with blue hair, deep wrinkles and uninterested eyes types in the air. With a blink of her eyes, the screen before her disappears.
”Ackerman, Levi?”
Levi nods and the woman takes a device that scans his eye, confirming his identity.
“Hold out your right hand.”
He does so, while she scans another device over his wrist. There’s a sharp sting, and then the glowing tattoo of his inmate number - 012025 - was gone.
“That takes care of the detection device implanted inside your wrist,” she informs in a monotone voice.
Levi touches the silver button behind his left ear. “What about my cerebral comm system?”
“It’s been completely deleted. You’ll have to have someone reactivate it.”
The woman moves to a back room and returns with a large vinyl bag.
”Here are your belongings. You can change there.” She gestures to a door just outside their office cluster.
Levi takes the items, walks to the room and closes the door. He steps out of the grey prison jumpsuit and stands there in just his underwear, looking at the stack of clothing he hasn’t seen or felt in almost five years: a black t-shirt, black combat pants, boots, socks..
He puts on each item, and wonders if he’ll feel different - if he’ll revert back to the man he used to be before he was put behind titanium bars.
But he doesn’t feel different. He doesn’t feel….anything.
When he finishes dressing, the guards walk him to the outer gate of the prison. The forcefield comes down and Levi takes his first step outside as a free man.
”You’re late. I’ve been waiting out here for over 30 minutes,” comes a voice from behind him.
Levi turns to see a tall man with sandy brown hair leaning against a cherry red vehicle. “I thought you’d done something to get another year added to your sentence.”
”Tch, as if I had any say in what time they’d release me.”
”You look like shit.”
”Takes a piece of shit to know one.”
Both men glare at each other, then the tall one smirks. “Good to see you again, Levi.” He pats him on the shoulder.
”You too, Farlan..” Levi replies warmly.
”Come on, let’s get you out of here.”
The car’s engine purrs as Farlan weaves in and out of traffic. Levi is enveloped by the leather seat, the glow of the neon accents inside reflecting off of Farlan’s dark suit coat.
”Looks like you’re doing well for yourself,” Levi says.
“The last few years I’ve been managing all our legit businesses, making sure they look good on paper. At least good enough that nobody will snoop around further.”
”So you’re a paper pusher,” Levi remarks. “Never thought I’d see the day.”
”Beats fixing the books for underground gambling rings,” Farlan answers defensively. “It’s the same concept though, just a different arena. I’m suited for this.”
Farlan had always been smart. He knew how to work the angles and how to get people to let down their guard.
They’d met at the orphanage they were both put in during one of Neo Tokyo’s efforts to, “alleviate the growing population of homeless children littering the city’s streets.” Farlan had convinced Levi that his calorie bar - the only thing they received for dinner - was infested with invisible larvae and that if he gave it to him he'd get another one. Finally figuring out he’d been conned, the next day he punched Farlan in the face and took his daily ration.
They’d been friends ever since.
During their teenage and young adult years with the Ackerman clan, everyone knew their names. They had their hands in almost every backalley operation - from gambling to fights and everything in between.
And if Farlan had been the brains of their operation, then Levi was the brawn. Farlan could shake people down through intellect, and when that didn’t work, Levi would beat them to a pulp. Together, they were feared and respected.
They had been equals. But now, after five years, Levi felt left behind.
“So where are you taking me? I need a shower.” Levi scrunches his nose at the musty smell emanating from his clothing.
”To your apartment. I made sure they didn’t touch anything. It’s all there as you left it.”
”Probably a dusty mess…but thanks for looking after the place.”
”Wasn’t that hard. Not like you had much stuff in there.”
”…and Isabel?” Levi asks tentatively, afraid to know the answer.
”Still functioning, and still entirely devoted to you. She could barely contain her excitement today.”
Levi felt a rush of relief. He never thought he’d feel any sort of affection for an android, but Isabel was different. She was a friend and comrade, and had saved his ass on more than one occasion, stitching up his cuts and gashes from a fight or standing beside him during a back alley brawl. But he was often surprised by how human she behaved sometimes, tearing up when she’d see a dead animal on the side of the road, or stealing food to give to a needy family.
Sometimes he thought she was more human than he was.
The buildings grew higher and higher the closer they got to the city center, their reach seeming to pierce the orange-red sky of the late afternoon. The next thing he knew, Farlan was pulling up to his apartment building, both of them entering the elevator decorated with layers upon layers of graffiti, and finally walking down the hallway and standing in front of his apartment door.
It was finally hitting him. He was free.
”I bought you some suits, hopefully they fit. Though you do look like you’ve bulked up a bit.”
”Not much else to do in prison but exercise. I tried to train as much as I could, too. I wanna get back into the ring.”
“After all this, you still want to fight?”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
“It’s just…nevermind. Take a shower, get dressed,” Farlan hesitates. “Oyabun wants to see you this evening.”
“Oyabun…” Levi repeats, the word turning sour in his mouth. “Your professionalism is getting on my nerves. You don’t have to talk to me like I’m some new recruit.”
“That’s who he is, Levi. He deserves our respect.”
Levi grimaces. “So Kenny’s pulling my leash already, huh?”
”Levi.. I know things were…strained between the two of you before, but he kept you protected while you were in prison.”
”Bullshit.”
”Believe what you want.” Farlan waves his hand in surrender before walking towards the door. “I’ll be back this evening.”
”Don’t bother, I can drive there myself. Where’s my bike?”
“It needed some tuning up since it’s been out of commission for so long. Isabel’s getting it ready for you.” Farlan turns to grin at his friend. “So you’re stuck with being chauffeured by me just a little longer. See you in a few hours.”
The door shuts and Levi is surrounded by silence. It’s a different sound than he’s used to; even though it’s the space he lived in for years, it feels unfamiliar and new.
His eyes scan the room; it really was exactly as he left it. Always the minimalist, his small sofa nestled in a corner across from a dining table with two chairs. No pictures, no books; the only personal item was an antique ceramic teapot and two cups.
”Petra.”
Suddenly, the lights fade up in the room, as if the apartment itself was coming to life.
”Welcome back, Levi,” the female voice resonates in the space, “it’s good to have you back. I haven’t been activated in such a long time.”
”Yeah, I’ve been…away.”
”Shall I prepare you some tea?”
”That’d be great,” Levi pulls off his shirt, “but I’d like to take a bath first.”
There’s a chime of recognition and then, “The bath water is ready. Please relax, sir.”
”Thanks.”
Levi had always felt prompted to treat Petra respectfully, even though he knew she was just an apartment AI - an assistant built into almost every home in Neo Tokyo. But it was so rare for him to hear a kind word from anyone in his life, so hearing her voice made him feel like he was being reunited with an old friend.
He takes off his clothes and turns on the shower, taking a sponge to wash away the dirt and grime from his body and hoping in some small way, that it might wash away some of the memories as well.
But those proved harder to get rid of. He knew only time could do that.
He finally sinks into the steaming bath water and a heavy sigh escapes his lips; he can feel his muscles relaxing with the heat, years of built up tension slowly melting away. The Martians of Neo Tokyo knew what an important resource water was, but now Levi felt it in his very bones.
Stepping out of the bath, he looked at his naked body in the mirror. He was bulkier than he was five years ago, Farlan was right about that. His lean, muscular frame, useful for street fighting and cage matches, was now replaced by more defined arms and chest; it was noticeable now, even beneath the tattoos swirling on his body.
A giant eagle, designed in the classical Japanese style, stretched across the length and width of his back; its wings outstretched and talons out, as if attacking prey. A red moon shone from his right shoulder and clouds wrapped around his torso, swirling up his abs and around his pectoral muscles. Over his left pec was the Ackerman clan crest, the Japanese character for power, 力, encased inside a circle.
That had been his first tattoo, when he was initiated into the Ackerman clan as a teenager. That felt like an eternity ago now.
His yakuza tattoos covered many of the scars Levi had received throughout his life, but there were new scars from his years of incarceration. He collected them all like badges of honor; evidence that he’d survived another day.
He found his electric shaver and erased the light stubble growing on his face, then decided to shave his undercut again, just like he’d always had it. But this time, he kept his hair slightly longer than it had been before. He slicked it back with a comb, exposing the sharp features of his face - flawless, except for one scar running through his right eyebrow, breaking it in two and barely missing his eye.
He’d forgotten how he'd received most of his scars, but that one…
…he’d never forget that night.
Wrapping a towel around his waist, he walks to his bedroom.
”Petra, I’ll take that tea now. Green jasmine.”
”Right away,” she responds.
As Farlan had promised, there were several suits hanging in the small closet. The yakuza were old fashioned, and clan members always preferred the look of the classic, tailored suit, in contrast to the bright and bold fashions prevalent on the streets of the city. Levi scans each one and decides on a dark navy blue suit with a white shirt. In a drawer are several ties, but he decides to forgo them and instead keeps the top two buttons undone, slightly exposing his chest tattoos that start just under his collarbone.
If Kenny wants him to wear a suit then he’ll do it his way.
He rummages through another drawer and finds his gold earring stud. The hole in his ear has grown smaller but he pushes it through, wincing just a bit as it breaks through skin. He welcomes the pain, though. Pain has always made him feel alive.
“Your tea is ready, sir.”
Levi takes the tea cup from the food preparation compartment and eases into a chair that’s facing his balcony window. How long has it been since he’s had a steaming cup? Tea wasn’t the type of contraband that could be obtained in prison, no matter what an inmate had to trade. He lifts the cup to his lips and takes a sip, breathing in the aroma.
”These are imported leaves from off-planet. Where did you get them?”
Petra blinks on. “Mr. Church wanted to make sure that you had the best for your homecoming.”
Levi’s lips turn upward into a faint smirk.
Farlan.
He guesses his old friend can afford things like this now. No more slumming it like they did when they were kids. He’d made his way in the world, and now Levi wanted to as well.
But first things first…
He finishes his tea then grabs his suit jacket. “Petra, I’ll be back later,” he says to the room, before stepping out of his apartment and into the city streets. The sun was just starting to set, creating a copper glow to the sky as it reflected off the high rise buildings and skyscrapers. Neo Tokyoites filled the sidewalks, bustling from one place to the next, but no one drifted an eye toward Levi as he walked along the city streets - just another face in the crowd.
The city hadn’t changed much since Levi had left it, but even if it had, he could make it to his destination with his eyes closed. He takes a right, then a left, turning into a narrow alley and scaring a cat or two before arriving at an unmarked door.
He knocks once, a pause, then two more quick knocks.
There’s commotion on the other side of the door, as if someone is scrambling towards it. Then it bolts open.
“Aniki! I knew you’d come!”
A small red-headed young woman throws her arms around Levi’s neck, practically throwing his body across the alley.
“See? Didn’t I tell you he’d come right away?” she boasts as she pulls him through the space Levi had once used for training. His punching bag was still there, gathering cobwebs in the corner, along with his other training equipment, but the rest of the room was now littered with electronics and various tools.
And sitting in another corner was Farlan, scrolling through his comm device as he lounged in one of the only chairs in the entire space.
“Isabel knew you wouldn’t stay in your apartment for long, so I thought I might as well just wait for you here. Saves me a trip, anyway.” Farlan smirks.
Isabel can hardly contain her excitement. “The trio is back together, just like old times!”
Old times…Levi thinks as he looks around the space. Everything - and he’s sure everyone - has changed, but it’s a relief to see that Isabel is still the same.
Levi puts his hand on the top of her head. “Glad to see that Kenny didn’t get rid of you once I was arrested.”
“What? No way! Farlan got me out of there the moment you were busted. He’s been getting me steady work ever since, working on bikes and cars, even some augments here and there.” Her face beams, “Kenny may have thought me a useless android, but I’ve been making my own way.”
That also gave Levi some relief. Throughout these past years, he’d wondered what had become of the spunky little android he’d saved from the wrecking yard.
Levi had always had a soft spot for things that were considered broken beyond repair.
“Isabel, I need you to reboot my cerebral comm connection.”
“Oh yeah, yeah, not a problem.” Isabel takes his hand again and leads him to a part of the room with a computer connected to a multitude of cables.
Levi sits on what looks almost like an examining table, leaning his face into the light above. “You’ve got quite the set up here.”
“Since I’m not a certified augmentation android, I have to stay under the radar, so most of my clients come from Farlan or from word of mouth.”
Isabel rolls her chair over to Levi. “Just turn your head to the right for me…” One of her small hands finds the silver button behind his left ear and with one swipe of her tool, pops it out.
“Let’s see what I can do here..”
There’s a slight sense of pressure as Isabel sticks a cable into the port, connecting Levi to her computer. She rolls back over to her station, clicking her keyboard methodically.
“All your contacts are still here…at least they didn’t try to wipe your memory for names and information.”
“Oh they tried,” Levi remarks, “but it didn’t work. Seems my Ackerman genes are good for more than just kicking people’s asses.”
“I bet that pissed them off,” Farlan adds, still scrolling through the air with his pointer finger as images only he can see moves across his eyes.
“Almost there..” Isabel says, intensely concentrated on her computer screen.
There’s a few more clicks of her keyboard, and then Levi feels a slight jolt of electricity through his head.
“And that should be it.” Isabel rolls back over the Levi, disconnecting him and replacing the silver button. “You should be connected to your old contact list now.”
“Thanks.” Levi pats her head again and she grins from ear to ear.
“I’ll have your bike ready for you tomorrow.” The red-head responds while Levi gets up from the examining table. Farlan gets up, giving both of them a look that says it’s time to go. As Isabel walks them to the door she puts a tentative hand on Levi’s arm.
“Aniki…once the word is out that you’ve been released, people are going to wonder when you’ll start fighting again.”
“That’s a good question, and one I’m about to get an answer to,” he responds.
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
The Ackerman Clan headquarters was housed in a nondescript, four-story building, just on the outskirts of the entertainment district. The only thing that made it stand out from the other business buildings was the Ackerman crest emblazoned next to the door; no other signs were needed, and inhabitants of Neo Tokyo didn’t have to be fluent in Japanese to know its meaning…
Power. The word that’s synonymous with Ackerman.
Farlan pulls up and the door to his car lifts up automatically. “Oyabun is in his office - I assume you remember where everything is.”
“You’re not coming in.”
“Nah, not this time. Kenny wanted to meet with you privately, and I have a meeting to get to, anyway. I’ll see you later this evening.”
Levi steps out of the car, straightening his suit jacket before stepping up to the door. The moment he touches the handle the door unlocks for him.
At least he knows he hasn’t been completely shut out of the organization.
There are voices coming from the second floor - new recruits, most likely, being made to clean and prepare dinner for the evening. Levi remembered the hierarchical structure well; it was something he’d also had to go through in his teenage years. But unlike the others here, he wasn’t recruited into this clan.
It was something he was born into.
The elevator takes him to the top floor, which was reserved entirely for the clan’s leader. Levi walks through the empty reception area and knocks on the office door.
“Come in,” a low, gravelly voice answers.
Behind the door is a room split in half; the front part serving as a reception area and in the back, a broad desk surrounded by pictures of past leaders. The man behind the desk grins broadly then stands up, gesturing to Levi to come in. His face shares many of the same features as Levi: a sharp profile and even sharper eyes of a stormy grey hue. He’s taller than Levi, however, and leaner, with a powerful aura that fills the entire space.
“Look who’s back from the dead,” he says, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
Levi scoffs at the phrase, but it’s true; the last few years in prison made him feel like a corpse, a half-life that dragged on and on. In a way, he has been resurrected.
“Kenny…” he says sharply, “you wanted to see me.”
”Of course I did! It’s not every day that I can celebrate the release of my nephew from prison.” He gives Levi a once-over. “You survived with all your limbs, that’s good. And you look strong,” he frowns, “but not any taller.”
Kenny laughs at his own joke and then offers for Levi to sit, but he refuses, standing in front of the broad desk with his arms crossed.
“And no better sense of humor either,” Kenny deadpans before sitting on the edge of his desk. “Always so serious. But no matter…let’s get right to business.”
At that, Levi finally sits, though he’s on edge and alert, not sure where this conversation might go.
Kenny walks behind his desk where a katana sword is displayed. He picks it up and slowly removes it from the sheath.
“You know, Levi, we Ackermans have been feared for our strength for generations, even before we were yakuza. This power has shaped us into what we are today. I’ve been preparing you to take on this role someday, but you’ve been a pain in my ass from the beginning: disobedient, disorderly, and headstrong. That fire in you needed to be beaten into submission.”
Light glistens off the katana as Kenny moves about the room. “I let you do those cage matches because it gave you a purpose and kept you compliant. But when you started earning huge sums of money, and weren’t paying your dues to me and your brothers - well, that just wouldn’t do.”
Kenny stands in front of Levi now, the katana held loosely at his side. “I hope your time in prison taught you a thing or two about respect, Levi. What I say, goes. Always.”
He pauses, as if expecting to get some sort of reply from Levi, but gets none.
“You were supposed to lose that match - that was the deal we’d set - not beat the humanoid within an inch of his life. You lost me an incredible amount of money, and respect from the Reiss Agency. So you needed to be taught a lesson.”
Levi’s hands ball into fists in his lap, his nails digging into his palms. He takes a deep breath before he responds. “Consider the lesson learned. When can I start fighting again?”
“Fighting?” Kenny laughs. “You think I’m gonna put you in the ring again after that stunt you pulled? Abso-fucking-lutely not. It’s time you started preparing for a bigger leadership role.”
Levi grits his teeth. He wants to grab that katana Kenny holds and slice him right down the middle.
He could do it - he’s strong, probably stronger than Kenny now. He could do it and finally be free.
He takes a breath. No, this isn’t the time.
Be smart…
Kenny presses a button on his desk and a few seconds later, a tall, blonde woman enters.
“Sir,” she says in a stern, serious voice.
“Levi, you remember Caven. She’s my wakagashira now.” He grins. “The title you should have had. I suppose you’ll have to usurp her someday.” Levi can tell that it gives Kenny no greater joy than to think of the two of them fighting for the role and for his approval.
Caven’s eyes slide towards Levi, her body on edge, as if Kenny could call for them to fight any minute. Kenny laughs. “But that’s a problem for another day. Caven, introduce Levi to the new shatei - he’ll be in charge of them now.”
At that, Levi stands up. “What? I don’t want to be in charge of some brats.”
“Oh, but you will, Levi. Because what I say goes.” Kenny’s eyes darken and his voice lowers. He walks towards Levi, looking down at him, the katana still in his hand. “Got it?”
Levi looks away, wordlessly conceding to Kenny’s demand. He turns to follow Caven out of the office.
”I guess this is when I’m supposed to welcome you back,” she says coldly.
”Don’t bother. We don’t have to pretend that we like each other.”
They both walk down the stairs to the second floor. “I’m not sure what you mean, Levi. You’re my brother. We’re all family here - or did you forget that while you were in prison?”
Levi clicks his tongue at the statement. He always thought the yakuza’s obsession with family laughable; if this was supposed to be a family, then it was the most dysfunctional one he’d ever known.
Not that he’d really ever known anything else.
The brief times he’d ever felt the true bonds of family was when he was with Farlan and Isabel, or as a small child, when it was just him and his mother. But those years were fading from his memory with every year he grew older.
“Speaking of which,” Caven opens the door to the second floor, where there are clattering and raised voices coming from the living area.
”I told you to clean this place up!”
”I did! Why can’t we just have androids do this?”
”There are no androids here, idiot. Oyabun is against it. Now hurry up, our brothers are gonna be here soon.”
Caven pinches the bridge of nose and gives a heavy sigh. “Connie! Jean! Get out here.”
Two young men emerge from the room: one on the smaller side, with silvery grey hair and a buzz cut; the other tall and lanky, his light brown hair growing slighting over his undercut.
They both look at each other then at Levi, mouths slightly agape. Caven clears her throat, clearly disappointed at their sudden lack of manners.
”Connie, Jean, this is Levi. He’ll be your big brother from now on and will prepare you to be a true member of the clan.”
”Levi… Ackerman…we heard all about you,” Jean says, bowing deeply. When he sees Connie still standing there staring, he pulls him down as well. “It’s an honor, sir…uh, aniki.”
They both stay in a bow and Levi shifts uncomfortably. “What am I supposed to do with them?”
”Take them around on neighborhood patrols and payment collections. You know, standard stuff.” Caven raises an eyebrow. “Unless you’ve forgotten the basics.”
Levi gives Caven a cold look, then walks over to his new younger brothers, their bodies still at a ninety degree angle.
“Ok, that’s enough. You don’t have to bow to me.” Levi looks around the space as they stand up. “You were cleaning?”
Jean rubs the back of his head nervously. “Yeah…then we were gonna start cooking dinner after we finish this…”
Levi’s discerning eyes continue to survey the room, seeing every hairball and clump of dirt left behind. “Oh, you are nowhere near finished.” He hangs up his suit jacket. “You. Baldy.” His finger points at Connie. “Go get the mop. Jacques – ”
“...it’s Jean, sir..”
“-- get a rag and start wiping everything down.”
“But we just cleaned —,” Connie interjects, but when Levi glances towards him, his mouth clamps shut.
“I’ll leave you all to it, then,” Caven says, sauntering away. “Good luck, you two.”
Connie and Jean immediately start their tasks. Levi rolls up the sleeves of his dress shirt.
”I’m sure you’ve heard lots of things about me, but one thing you should know right now: I do not tolerate filth.”
”Yes, aniki!” They both answer.
”I’ll start on dinner prep. You two join me when you finish here.”
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
It’s not long until other clan members start ambling into the building for dinner. Levi hears their voices before he sees them, and the corners of his mouth curl into a slight smile.
”It smells cleaner in here! Could it be?”
A tall man with long, blonde hair strides into the kitchen. “If it’s not the man himself! Oi! Levi’s back, everyone!”
“Pipe down, Eld, the whole damn neighborhood can hear you,” Levi chides, before shaking his hand. “Good to see you again.”
“Shit, I don’t believe my eyes. Levi!” Another man enters, patting Levi on the back generously.
“Gunther..”
“It’s about time they let you out..” comes a lackadaisical voice from the back. Levi turns to see a third man, arms crossed, leaning against the wall, a cigarette hanging from his mouth.
“Well you know, Oluo, I had to get back here and beat your ass back into shape.”
Eld and Gunther laugh, but Oluo frowns. “Come on, Levi, I’m a lot stronger now. You’ll see.”
Levi feels a bit uncomfortable with all this attention on him, but it’s expected; these are men he’d known since they were new recruits. He’d done jobs with them, showed them how to take a punch and even give them when needed. It’s amazing how much they’ve changed in just these few years.
He wonders what else has changed in this organization.
“I see you’ve met the little brothers,” Eld says, grabbing Connie and putting him in a headlock.
“I’m in charge of them, actually.”
“Damn,” Oluo laughs. “Hope you two are up for it.”
“Up for what?” Jean asks.
Oluo smirks as he sits down with the others at the table. “For the daily ass beatings you’re gonna get if you don’t keep the damn place spotless.”
Everyone laughs except Connie, Jean, and Levi, who looks at his two little brothers. “They are right about that.”
Connie and Jean eat their food quietly, listening to the stories being told around the table by the others about Levi. He shifts in his chair uncomfortably; he doesn’t particularly like being talked about like he’s some history report, but he’s content enough to listen, especially as the conversation shifts to updates on the clan and its newest exploits.
Hours pass with more stories being told and alcohol being drunk, until Caven walks through the door, a serious look on her face.
“There’s been a disturbance at Club Azure. Some members of the Jaeger Clan are causing a scene and harassing the hostesses. Levi, Kenny wants you to take care of it.”
Before Levi can even respond or refuse, she’s on her way out the door, but stops, glancing at him behind her shoulder. “And take Connie and Jean with you.”
“Fucking Jaeger Clan, thinking they can mess around on our territory,” Gunther says, his hands balling into fists. “Unfortunately for them, Levi’s back.”
Without a word, Levi gets up from the table and grabs his jacket.
“Those Jaegers won’t know what hit ‘em,” Oluo adds.
“Come on,” Levi finally says to his two brothers, who scramble away from the table and file behind him. “Let’s get this over with.”
Levi hadn’t realized how much time had gone by that evening until he stepped out into the brightly lit streets of the entertainment district. Signs flashed and holograms coaxed patrons to step inside their clubs, while drunks stumbled around them, yelling about which bar to hit up next.
Pachinko parlors, night clubs and host and hostess bars lit up every corner of every block; and when these institutions closed in the early morning light, there was still entertainment to be found in the sex clubs and soap lands.
And every one of them was protected by the Ackerman Clan.
“Does Hange still own Club Azure?” Levi asks as they make their way to the club, an easy walk from the clan headquarters.
“Yeah,” Jean answers, “but I’ve heard times have been tough over there.”
“Tough for a lot of the clubs these days, I heard,” Connie adds. “Members of the Jaeger Clan have been busting shit up around here recently and scaring customers away.”
Levi wants to ask more about this Jaeger Clan, but they’ve already arrived at the doors of the club. By the time the three men enter, there are raised voices amidst the smooth jazz music.
“We got ourselves a non-aug!”
Levi hears a voice say over the others. He looks over to the source of the noise and sees a man - probably no more than nineteen or twenty - being slapped by one of the hostesses.
“Don’t you touch me,” the woman says.
A few seconds later, he sees the man backhand the woman.
And that’s when something ignites in Levi.
“Stay here,” he says to Connie and Jean, wasting no time in walking toward the disturbance. The man grabs the woman’s face hard, saying something about not fucking with the Jaeger clan.
“Oi.”
From then on, Levi goes into combat mode, the rest of the world fading away as he throws the man across the room. He senses the rest of the men gathering around him; he deals with them one by one, barely breaking a sweat.
The leader reaches for a weapon in his jacket, but Levi is faster, his knife in his hand in the blink of an eye.
Even in the heat of the moment, his breathing is calm, his heartbeat is steady, and his concentration is laser focused. He feels his strength coursing through him.
The feeling of his fist against skin, his punches sending a resounding crack across the room…
This is who he is. This is what he does.
He blinks a few times when he sees them scrambling away, the room incredibly silent, until -
“Thank you so much, um..”
You’re in front of him suddenly.
Your dress does little to hide every curve of your body, and every bit of skin that is revealed shows not a single tattoo or augmentation. He blinks a few more times to focus on your face, and it’s like time stands still. Tears have formed in the corners of your eyes, probably from the force of the blow to your cheekbone, but your eyes are still bright, undefeated.
No longer able to hold your gaze, he gives you his name and turns away.
Why is his heart beating so fast?
When he reaches the bar he turns around to see you being whisked off by another hostess.
“Whew! Well that was not how I wanted this evening to end.” Hange says, leaning against the bar and looking at Levi. “And when I called Caven, I had no idea you were gonna show up. I didn’t even know you were out of prison.”
“I just got out today.”
Hange laughs and pours him a drink. “I bet this wasn’t the welcome you had in mind.”
“Who’s that girl? The one that got hit.”
“That’s Luna. She just started here today. Guess you two have something in common there.”
“She’s not augmented?”
“Nope. Pure as snow. Not that I’ve ever seen snow before.” Hange pours a drink for themself and downs it in one gulp.
“Where is she from?”
“Earth… Why do you want to know so much about her?”
That breaks Levi from his concentration on you. He doesn’t answer, but instead shifts on the bar stool and takes a swig of his drink.
“It’s natural to have those urges, Levi. You’ve been in prison for so long,” Hange’s voice has a teasing lilt.
“Fuck you, Hange.”
“Not even on a good day, Levi. But she might.” Hange gestures to the dressing room where you’ve been taken.
Wanting to get away from the conversation, Levi gulps down his drink and stands up. “I’ll take my guys and search the perimeter of the club to make sure they’ve left.”
“My hero, just like old times!” Hange yells out, as Levi and the other two walk towards the exit of the club. “Don’t be a stranger!”
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
“Hange has a new girl working at Azure.”
It’s the first thing Levi says to Farlan when he picks him up the next morning. He hasn’t been able to think about much else since last night.
”You’re not usually interested in the products.”
“She’s from Earth.”
”So what?” Farlan counters.  “There’s lots of Earth refugees here; in fact, many of them work in that sweatshop Kenny has, making fake….”
”She’s not augmented. At all. Not one mark or change.”
Farlan looks up. He knows where this is going. “That’s not a rarity for Earthlings, Levi. It’s a coincidence.”
“What if it’s not?”
”What difference would it make now? What’s done is done, Levi. You can’t change the past.”
”That’s easy for you to say.”
”Look, I know you want answers, but you’re not gonna find them in some girl from Earth. You have a chance to start things over. Don’t stir shit up.”
But it was too late. Levi’s curiosity had already been piqued. His gut told him there was more to you than what you seemed, and he wanted to know what that was.

Chapter 2 - An affair to remember
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Chapter 2, here we are! Leave a comment, heart or reblog if you enjoyed reading this. And no, I couldn’t just settle on one photo.
Pairing: Tony Stark x F! Reader
Warning: 18+ loss of virginity, age gap, smut.
Word count: 4025
An affair to remember
After trying around eleven outfits and disliking each of them for some reason or other, you settled on a simple floral button down blouse with a pair of jeans. You weren’t exactly sure if he’d asked you out on a date or the drink was just a friendly offer.
Of course it’s a date, you kissed him, Y/N, you thought to yourself. The mirror of your car revealed a visibly nervous reflection of you, fixing your hair multiple times, redoing your lipstick before you shook yourself mentally and drove off. Stark tower was a twenty minute drive from your apartment, and since it was a Sunday, traffic was in your favour thankfully.
By the time the tall, shiny building came into view, you had worked yourself up into taking this as a business meeting. You would be professional with the man and politely decline drinks if he’d offered. It would be inappropriate. You were sure he felt the same way.
Apparently your arrival was expected and welcomed in a pleasantly surprising way. A chubby, friendly looking man gave you a smile as you entered the foyer, introducing himself as Happy Hogan. He escorted you up to Mr. Stark’s floor or rather floors which was the penthouse of the ninety-three storeyed building.
The space was swanky, stylish and impeccably designed. Floor to ceiling windows that offered the most stunning views of the city, sleek and modern furniture that only screamed rich. You smoothed down your top and cleared your throat as you approached the outdoor seating area where Tony sat, wearing a dark coloured shirt and some jeans. Casual but still quite well put together, you thought.
“Ah! Miss Y/L/N, you made it. Thanks, Happy.”
As your hands touched, the spark was back, one that made your insides buzz with excitement as you smiled at each other, letting your handshake extend for longer than necessary. It was only when Happy cleared his throat to announce his exit that you broke contact.
As he left, you considered bringing up the elephant in the room that loomed large, causing you to shuffle your weight from one foot to the other. Maybe if you addressed it right away, you could move on and be done with it? Not let the meeting be awkward for the rest of the evening.
Meanwhile, Tony was trying his best to focus on anything but your irresistible lips. He was drawn to them, it was quite unexplainable but he wanted nothing more than to have your lips on his again.
“So…” you started, twirling a lock of hair nervously between your fingers as you looked around, aware of his gaze following.
“So.”
“I think we should talk about what happened. Look, it was a mistake, I don’t know what came over me, I shouldn’t have kissed you like that.”
Tony blinked his disappointment away and nodded in agreement. It was probably for the best.
“Yeah, probably. You’re right. It—it was inappropriate.”
“Yes! I mean, you’re friends with my Dad and also way out of my league.”
Your admission made him smirk, watching your cheeks flush with realization of what you had said.
“Out of your league huh? What is your league? Overzealous frat boys?” he teased.
“Haha. You’re funny.” You rolled your eyes but hoped he’d drop the subject, thankfully he did, brushing it off as no harm done, much to your relief.
You unconsciously reached for your camera, thinking it’d be better if you steered the subject to the big photoshoot.
“You brought your camera, why?” Tony murmured, pointing to the device sticking out from your bag.
“I just thought I’d do a few test shots of the locations you’d be photographed in. Check the lighting and things. It will be a day shoot, right?”
Tony frowned, realizing he was yet to work out all of that or he probably had been sent the schedule but it slipped his mind. He also thought it’d be a good idea to inform Natalie about the change in photographer, since the magazine had been adamant on bringing their own person for the job.
“That’s a good question, I have no idea. But don’t worry, I’ll have my secretary send you the details.”
Humming in agreement, you asked if he could show you around the space, get an idea about what the vibe of the interview was going to be like. He happily agreed and began a tour of the place, explaining what housed on each floor, giving you a background about his business which you kinda already knew - one Google search was all it took to give the necessary details and some unnecessary ones as well. Tony had a notorious reputation of being a playboy, he certainly lived a very colourful life and had made no qualms about it.
Still, his eyes reflected the passion he had for technology as he spoke, the pride he took in pointing out all of the achievements Stark Industries had over the years.
Primarily a weapons manufacturer, he decided on taking a different route for his company after a particularly life-changing incident in Afghanistan. The man was abducted by a terrorist group called Ten Rings and kept in a cave for three months.
While how he escaped remained a mystery to the world, his return had been miraculous. He led you back to his grand living room, gesturing you to take a seat.
“You said an explosive blew up not far from you and yet you came out of that cave scratch free? How?” you asked about his incredulous story.
“Not just any explosive, it was one of my own creations. And I never said it was scratch free.”
He seemed to ponder for a while, looking around as if to check if anyone was spying on you two before he reached for the buttons of his shirt, undoing them to reveal what looked like a circular battery-like device emitting a faint blue light. It seemed as if it was jammed in his chest, the peripheral skin scarred.
“What is that?”
He chuckled as your eyes went wide, glancing down at the device that was keeping him alive.
“It’s an electromagnet that essentially keeps the shrapnel from reaching my heart. It’s called an arc reactor, there is another one of these, a much bigger one that powers this building.” he explained, buttoning his shirt back up and letting you know how he managed to power it with the help of a man named Ho Yinsen in the caves.
If it weren’t for that little device, and the brave sacrifice of Yinsen, the world would’ve lost Tony Stark and you would’ve never met this incredible man.
“And here I assumed you sold your soul to the devil.”
Your words made him laugh, feeling a little flutter in that battery-operated heart. He wasn’t sure what made him reveal the arc reactor to you, he hadn’t let anyone see it, except for Rhodey since he found him in the desert. Something about you reassured him that you were trustworthy. You were like a breath of fresh air.
After returning, Tony Stark had dedicated much of his business to RnD in the field of science and technology. You listened with keen interest, getting to know the man better with each passing moment, you couldn’t help but admire him for all the success he’d achieved.
“Gosh. Where are my manners? I haven’t offered you anything to drink, Miss Y/L/N.” Tony exclaimed, right as one of his bots whirred in with a silver tray that had a bottle of champagne on ice with two glasses.
“Robots bringing in champagne? You planned this, didn’t you?” you chuckled, finding it rather hard to refuse it. I mean, it wouldn’t really hurt having one glass. Right?
“I’m just trying to make a good first impression.” he shrugged, popping the bottle open expertly before filling the two glasses.
“Why? You’re not an overzealous frat boy.” you teased, taking a sip of the champagne while holding his gaze.”
“Oh honey, I’m much better.”
There it was again.
The tingle of excitement you felt deep within your belly every time you had a banter. Even though you wouldn’t admit to yourself, you were attracted to the man. He was just so sure of who he was, he carried himself with a certain confidence that was quite sexy.
For the next couple of hours, you two spoke about anything and everything, making you realize how easy he was to talk to despite the age difference. You spoke about your relationship with your parents, your eyes lit up each time you mentioned how your father had been your biggest cheerleader while Tony listened with a soft smile on his face. His phone kept buzzing every now and then and he kept dismissing it. When it rang for the fourth time, you thought it was time for you to head back since you’d stayed for longer than you had intended to.
“You should get that, it’s probably important. I’ll get going.”
Tony stood up with you, not really ready to let you go just yet, though the incessant buzzing of his Stark pad was hard to ignore.
“Are you sure I can’t persuade you for another glass? Perhaps some wine? Happy could drive you home later..”
The offer was tempting, and you weren’t ready to say goodbye either but you had to. You would see him next week anyways.
“Thank you, but I think I should head back, it’s late. What you’ve done with Stark Industries is truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing your story with me. You’re an incredible man, Tony. I don’t think you give yourself enough credit for it.” You smiled, meaning every word you’d said.
He had been complimented many times before but something about your words made him believe it. He felt his heart dance a little with joy.
“See you on Wednesday then?”
“Uh yeah. See you.”
Deciding on a friendly hug, you wrapped your arms around him, breathing in his scent, something so oddly comforting about it. Smiling to yourself when you felt Tony’s breath against your hair, you pulled back only to find him staring at your lips. You kissed him on the cheek quickly, and stepped back, not trusting yourself to not make the same impulsive decision no matter how much you wanted to do it.
“Bye, Tony.”
“Goodbye, Y/N.”
He watched you until the elevator doors closed, leaving you to let out a sigh and lean against the cold metal. The whole way down, you contemplated what it would be like to kiss Tony, recalling the moment your lips had touched the other night. It only lasted a second but it hadn’t left your mind ever since.
You wanted to do it again.
You wanted more. Him. In every way possible. It was like a need you felt that drew you to him, like a moth to a flame. You knew it would be dangerous and yet it was impossible to resist the temptation.
It was probably why you decided to go with your instincts and press the button that led you back to Tony Stark.
He had his back to you when you reached his floor again, you saw the same flame of desire dancing in his eyes that danced in yours as he turned to find you standing there. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation as you took long strides and he met you halfway, lips colliding in an instant.
You felt your breath knocked out of your chest as you kissed Tony Stark, a rush of excitement surging through your body as his arms went around you to pull you flush against his chest, keeping you there. You gasped at the intensity and Tony used the opportunity to slide his tongue in your mouth, deepening the kiss.
A lingering taste of champagne mixed with a hint of coffee is what you tasted as you gave in and your hands found their way around his neck, carding through the hair at the nape of his neck.
Not realizing he had walked you back until you were met with the cool wall behind, you felt Tony smile against your lips before they trailed lower, along your jaw, down to your neck. Letting out a soft moan, you tugged on his hair silently signaling him to not stop. Desire flooded through you and gathered between your legs as he continued nipping at your skin, reveling in the little sounds you made. His hands slid up your body to brush against your breasts, his thumb deliberating until your nipples stood erect against his touch.
You felt goose pimples across your body where he touched you as his hands slipped inside your blouse, wanting to feel more of your skin. Wasting no time, Tony unbuttoned it hastily and threw it to the side, bringing his lips over your collarbone, littering small kisses along it.
Letting out a sigh, you felt his hands toy with the hem of your jeans as his mouth closed over your bra-covered nipple. You weren’t alien to the feeling but your eyes fluttered open when Tony unzipped your jeans and let it slide down your legs.
“Bedroom?” he asked huskily after you’d stepped out of them, leaving you in a matching pair of lingerie. You managed a nod before following him inside his bedroom, a heady cocktail of desire and lust swimming in your mind as the man gently laid you against the soft mattress.
“So gorgeous, Y/N.”
He crawled over you with purpose, his gaze darkening as he took in your form before his lips crashed against yours once more. The kiss had more urgency this time, while he prodded your legs open to allow you to feel his growing erection.
You let out another gasp feeling his hardness brush against your core, a rush of ardor followed by sudden insecurity made its presence known as you sat up on your elbow, breaking the kiss.
“Tony, I’ve never um–I mean I’m a–” you fumbled with the choice of words, heat creeping up to your cheeks as you tried to convey you had never done this before. Tony rested his arms on either side, still breathing heavily as he took your words in, his own heartbeat pounding against his ears while blood had rushed southward.
“Do you want to stop? We can if you’re uncomfortable.”
You shook your head, not wanting to back out this but you had apprehensions which he could sense. Gently caressing your bare legs, he rested his forehead against yours.
“Tell me what you want.”
You answered by pulling him in for another hungry kiss and wrapping your legs around him to let him know the answer.
“Words, sweetheart.” he murmured, rolling his hips towards your center once again.
“I want you, Tony. I want this.” you managed, unbuttoning his shirt quickly, surprised at your assertion. In the darkness of the room, the blue glow emitted from his arc reactor acted like a source of light, rendering his features luminescent.
With a couple of hasty kisses against your lips, he made you lie back before trailing his path of open-mouthed kisses down your neck, discarding your bra to expose you some more. Cupping one in a hand, tweaking the nipple between his fingers, Tony closed his mouth around the other one, coaxing out a needy whine.
Treating both of them equally, he allowed his hand to travel lower to cup your sex over your panties, smirking as he found them already damp. You felt your breathing turn shallower as his fingers traced along your clothed slit, brushing against your bundle of nerves every so often.
“I want to taste you, sweetheart. Want to know if you taste just as sweet down there as you do here.” Tony’s words turned your insides to jelly, his lips sucking on your tongue as he slowly peeled the last remaining cloth from your body.
Your heart hammered inside your ribcage as he kissed his way down your body, settling between your legs, holding them apart as you instinctively went to close them.
“Lie back, close your eyes.”
You did as you were told, wetting your bottom lip with your tongue as you felt his breath down there, the air making your glistening folds shine eagerly. He first laid small kisses along your inner thigh before his tongue peeked out to tease you open. You let out a cry when his tongue licked a strip up your entrance, the action wildly exciting and new for nobody had gone down on you before. You felt him draw small circles around your clitoris, sending waves of desire down your spine as you squirmed for more.
“Oh my God!” you panted, anchoring your hands in his hair while he continued.
“Does it feel good, sweetheart?” he did everything in his might to not devour you the way he wanted to, knowing you’d probably feel overwhelmed if he did. In all honesty, your scent drove him mad and your taste was irresistible, he couldn’t get enough.
“Yes! Feels so good, Tony!”
Your words encouraged him to continue the assault, every lick and nudge drawing the sweetest of sounds from you. Your wetness gathered on his finger as he traced a line along it, pushing it inside your heat, grunting as he felt your walls immediately clamp around it.
“Relax, Y/N.” Tony repeated, slowly stroking you with his finger, getting you ready for his cock that strained against his pants. Your slickness helped when he added another finger, drawing out yet another moan as you felt an increase in pressure down there.
His thumb brushed against your clit while he massaged your walls open for him, making you lose all sense of coherence as you felt something building inside of you. The familiar tightness low in your belly when you pleasured yourself when alone, only this time, it felt like it had increased by tenfold. Tony held you down as your hips rose up from the bed in their own accord, matching his ministrations. As your moans got louder, you sensed you were close, tugging on his hair once more, you felt your walls tighten around his fingers.
“Let go, Y/N. Come for me.”
And you did. It felt like a tight-wound rope snapped, giving way for an intense wave of pleasure that shook your body. It felt exhilarating at the same time unreal, like you were floating away on a cloud of bliss. When you came down from your high, Tony had discarded his pants and was slanting his lips over yours, letting you taste some of your essence.
Feeling bolder now, you reached between your bodies to stroke his hard cock over his boxers, hearing his breathing hitch.
“Remove them.” He ordered, aiding you when pushed them down his legs to let his cock spring free.
You felt your walls clamp around nothing at the sight of him, he was big, making you wonder if it would hurt when you finally had him.
Reaching over to the nightstand, you watched Tony tear open a foil of condom and roll it over his length. Settling between your legs once more, he kissed you again, this time with a languid urgency.
You tensed up as his erection poked against your core, sensing it Tony broke the kiss to look into your eyes for signs of apprehension.
“We can still stop if you want to, Y/N. Just say the word.”
Appreciative of how considerate he was being, you knew you were ready. You wanted him, as much as he wanted you. Wrapping your fingers around his length delicately, you stroked him a few times, watching his mouth fall open.
“I want you to fuck me, Tony.”
You whispered, lying back against the pillows and allowing him to take control. He lined up against your entrance, gathering your arousal as he went before slipping just the head of cock inside.
“This will hurt a little. Breathe through it for me?”
Nodding, you felt him push in further, letting out a grunt at your tightness. He was right, the girth of him sliding inside your channel felt odd but electrifying. Tony felt his cock push past the barrier as he entered you, giving you time to get used to the feeling.
You let out a cry as he bottomed out, the feeling of fullness overwhelmed your senses as the pain stung.
Retracting only a little at first, Tony drove his hips back into you, repeating the action a few more times as you felt pain receding and giving way to a new kind of pleasure.
“More.” You begged, digging your fingers into his back as he complied.
Your tight heat felt so amazing around his cock, Tony felt himself getting lost in the feeling. Steadily he set a pace, pushing you against the mattress as his hips speared into you, drawing sinful moans.
The feeling of being wound up again took over, Tony smirked as you wrapped both your legs around his hips tighter, the new angle making his cock reach deeper inside your pussy.
“You’re so tight, Y/N. You’re close again, aren’t you?” He breathed, increasing the force of his thrusts to make his pubic bone brush against your clit.
“Yes! I’m so close. Please, Tony.” You whimpered, moving your hips to match up as sounds of your combined pleasure filled the room.
Reaching between your bodies, he teased your clit while driving in and out of your sopping heat, aiding your second orgasm. You felt yourself clamp around his cock before the same feeling of euphoria took over, making your walls spasm out of control.
Vision blurred and body convulsed under the intense waves of pleasure coursing through your veins as you rode out your high. Tony grunted against your ear as your spasming walls fueled his climax, causing his balls to tighten before he emptied himself in the condom, holding you close. Gingerly, he pulled out of you, making you wince at the sudden emptiness you felt.
“You okay?”
“More than okay.” you grinned lazily, accepting the soft kiss he offered.
As tired as you were, you didn’t protest when he nudged you to get up, leading you to the shower for a quick clean up, the soreness between your legs evident.
You exchanged several kisses in the shower, the hot water working wonders on relaxing your muscles, making it evident you were in need of a nap soon.
Once fully dressed, Tony resisted the urge to make you stay again and walked you out while your car stood, waiting. He could sense you were preoccupied with something since you hadn’t said much.
“Tony, about the photoshoot..”
“Oh no, that’s no longer required. I just wanted to sleep with you.” He shrugged, making your stomach drop for a second before he chuckled, enjoying his joke way more than you did.
“Come on, Y/N. I asked you because you’re the person for the job. This doesn’t change anything.” He smiled, wrapping his arms around your waist to give you a quick kiss.
That definitely quietened your insecurities, but it didn’t ease the thought that you had lost your virginity to this gorgeous man who was not only older, but very good friends with your parents. If they ever found out…
On your way back, you also thought about how you’d break the news to Izzy, there was not a thing you kept from her. And if you didn’t, you were positive she’d find out somehow, she was quite shrewd about these things.
As uncertain as you were about it all, you couldn’t shake off the fact that you had slept with Tony Stark.
And it was fantastic.
Changing into comfortable clothes, you lay in bed, staring at the ceiling with a smile that refused to leave your face before deciding on pulling out your phone.
Cocky billionaires are still not my type, you know…
You texted Tony once you reached home, a big grin on your face, waiting for his response as the three dots appeared almost instantly on your screen.
Oh I know. Maybe I’ll change your mind. Actually I’m pretty sure of it.

More of You, Pt. 2
Part 1
Pairing : Simon “Ghost” Riley x Charlotte “Jade” Le Jardin (OC)
Word Count : ~ 2.4k words
Warning : tooth-rotting fluff and good ol’ cursings.
Title and story inspired by the song with the same title by JP Saxe!
*****
"--ra 4 this is– tcher-1 do y– copy?"
Jade opened her heavy eyelids at the sound. She blinked a number of times to wake herself up and find out where the voice came from.
"Sierra-4 do you copy?"
She’d recognize that voice even if it was filtered a thousand times. Laswell's voice. It came from the radio that she had put on the bedside table the night prior as the CIA said that she'll contact her about the exfil for both of them. Finally. From the colours she got in her eyes, she could tell that it was early in the morning as the sunlight wasn’t present yet.
However, when she wanted to move her body to reach the PTT, a mass of weight seemed to hold her in place, and it was looming all over her back, even to her front. That was when Jade realized how she's not in the position she first slept in. Ghost was supposed to be on her arms with her arm as his pillow to support his neck.
Now it's the opposite. She's on her opposite side, Ghost on her back, hugging her close to him while he placed his own arm on the bed to be her pillow, and he even covered her with the blankets, so beneath the sheets, their legs were entangled together. What's even more shocking was the fact that his other arm was on her waist and stomach, pressing her body to his.
Jade wanted to scream right now. She was going implode on his arms from the situation she found herself in.
Ghost was surely still asleep judging by the sound of his steady breaths and his unmoving limbs as he absolutely needed all the rest he could get. However, Laswell's trying to comm her right now, and she needed to get out of his enveloping arms – yet her mind was adamant to do that as it was really warm and comfortable.
"Jade. Can you hear me?"
Goddamnit. Dammit! Dammit!! Why now Kate?!?!
Jade tried to get out of his arms, try being the keyword here. She evidently failed to do so as Ghost kept on pressing her hips back to him, his voice rumbled lowly before going back to sleep. She tried to escape another time, but the result stayed the same.
While she found herself very amused by his unconscious actions and how almost childlike he was while doing this, Jade needed to reply to Laswell, or else she'd think they were dead.
And so, Jade lifted her upper body ever so slightly and leaned as far as she could to the bedside table while her lower body was still wrapped by Ghost's arm. He did mumble a bit, but Jade finally managed to reach the PTT, bringing the device close to her mouth, still laying on the bed. "Watcher-1, this is Sierra-4 I copy. Send traffic."
A sigh of relief could be heard. "I thought you were dead. What took you so long to reply?"
"I was uh… drying the clothes…"
"Well, How's Ghost doing?"
'He's currently asleep but he's hugging me from the back and he's refusing to let me go' was the thing she wanted to say, but instead, Jade only said, "He's alive."
"Okay. I've contacted Alejandro and his team to pick you guys up for exfil. He's currently on the way to the facility to clean the place and he'll be with you in any time now."
Oh. God bless Alejandro. She's missed him since the Las Almas missions. "Copy that. Thanks Kate."
"You're welcome. Bring him home safely, Jade."
"You know I will." She smiled.
"Take care, Watcher-1 out."
Putting the PTT back to the wooden table, Jade huffed in relief. The fact that she just answered Laswell’s call while still wrapped around Ghost’s arm was such a comical scene, prompting a chuckle out of her. Alejandro’s coming very soon, and they really needed to get ready. She had to check his wounds, change his bandages, and then prepare for the Mexican colonel’s arrival.
A light snore from her back interrupted her thoughts.
Wow. He’s deep deep in sleep.
The woman smiled in amusement. He really was just a regular bloke, huh?
Really slowly, She rolled her entire body, finally facing Ghost in his sleeping state – No scowl in sight, his guard completely down. His light eyelashes rested on his eyelids perfectly. He’d admitted in Las Almas that he slept with his mask on ‘soundly’. She wondered if this was one of those rare moments where he slept with his mask off during a mission. This was probably the closest she’d been to his face, or anyone, really. Heck, this is probably the closest she’d been to any man.
...He’s quite a gorgeous man up close.
Realizing that she was starting to blush profusely against her will, she shook her head to delete that cloud of thoughts from her mind and focus on the task at hand.
Putting her palm on his forehead gently, Jade felt relieved that he was not burning up like yesterday, albeit still warm to the touch. His bruises obviously needed some more time to heal, and now she needed to check his shoulder and side, and that required her to wake him up.
He’s still snoring.
Dammit she didn’t wanna wake him up!!
Suddenly, his snore hitched, surprising her. Right at that point Jade couldn’t think of anything to do. A part of her just wanted to back away and stand up, but what would he think? He'd think that she didn't want to be any close to him and that could not be farther from the truth.
So she stayed frozen there, trying to stay still all the while Ghost woke himself up. And with a little groan, he finally opened his eyes, focusing his eyes before quickly finding Jade’s face right in front of his and how his arm was still on her waist.
Ghost’s eyes widened at the sight, quickly lifted his hand up and leaned back to distance himself, all without uttering a single word. And boy oh boy, she never expected to see the Ghost himself blushing profusely like this. Did anybody ever see this face of his? Another medal to her collection then.
“Sorry.” He muttered with a voice deeper than the depths of hell from sleep, looking to the side to see anywhere but her face or he knew he’ll be even more embarrassed. “Must’ve… moved in the night.”
Jade let out a light chuckle, “Relax, it’s fine. I like it when you hug me though.” Whoa. Did she just say that??
His eyebrows lifted at that statement. “Really?”
Fuck it, she’ll just continue. “Yeah. And while we’re at it, don’t you have the most beautiful eyes.” Ghost would’ve exploded at that. “They’re like uh… Like a stream of light going through a glass of bourbon.”
He couldn’t rack up any response to that poetic description of his eyes. “...Thanks. Picked them myself.”
Her lip curved into a smile seeing him like this, “Where did you get those?”
Right at that moment, Ghost decided to just play along. “Down the market.”
“Yeah? How much did you pay for it?”
“A few quid.” He replied, “What about yours? They’re the colour of… like a stream of light going through a bottle of Tanqueray Gin.” Ghost recited the same words to her, prompting them to laugh at each other.
Trying to dial down her laughter, Jade answered back, “From the streets, so I got 100% discount.”
That got a wheeze out of him. “You got your eyeballs from the streets?”
Jade laughed out loud, “You got yours from the market! Which unfortunate bloke’s eyes did you buy?!”
This was gonna be an inside joke between the two of them, they were sure of it. As they guffawed at each other’s jokes, Ghost lifted his hand to her cheek, making Jade flinch. He put his finger under strands of her red hair, before softly tucking them behind her ear, all the while she just stayed there watching him. God, she wanted to see him smile and laugh like this more. Didn’t feel like a few months ago that she heard him say that he had a ‘cold heart’.
“Sierra-4, this is Victor-1 do you copy?”
Out of nowhere, her radio buzzed, catching both of them off guard.
“This is Alejandro, Jade, Ghost, Do any of you copy?”
Shit shit shit. Jade forgot about Alejandro coming to get them an exfil. Ghost’s eyes widened as she urgently rolled over and sat on the bed, taking the PTT close to her mouth. “Victor-1, this is Sierra-4 with Bravo 0-7, I copy.”
“Es bueno escuchar tu voz, Jade. Is Ghost okay?” The colonel asked with his usual gritty voice.
“Yeah, he’s solid. A little banged up, but you know how he is.” Jade answered while Ghost sat up on the bed. “Are you at the warehouse already?”
“Si, me, Rodolfo and the others are here, and madre de Dios, you didn’t leave a single body alive, huh.” Hearing those words, Jade looked back at Ghost who was checking his own injuries.
Looking back at Ghost's extraction from the facility yesterday, Jade only cleared the exterior and some goons on the first floor. The basement was crawling with Narcos, yet the injured, tortured, dehydrated and malnutritioned Ghost managed to kill his way out. This fact reminding her once again of how much of a beast the lieutenant was.
"We did what we had to do to get them off our tails.” Jade said to the PTT.
“As long as you both are okay, then I'm grateful. Thanks to Ghost’s hard work in locating this facility, we can cut out the supply.” Alejandro continued, “I’m coming to get you in 10. Can you be ready by then?”
“Claro. See you in 10 then.”
“Okay, Victor-1 out.”
With that, Jade put her PTT back to the table, scooting aside to check on Ghost’s wounds. “Those hurt too much?”
“Not something I can’t bear.” Ghost looked to his shoulder. Some of the blood seeped and coloured the bandage into pink. It was a bad wound after all.
After she finished re-dressing his wounds, Jade stood up and tidied up the table, taking the used portable bonfire and both ration packages, and putting them inside her backpack all the while Ghost slowly stood up, trying to hold his weight. He must admit that he’s still dizzy from all the blood he lost. If he’d been alone, he might have had to survive the wilderness of the rainforest alone, eating any animal he could hunt. Hell, that was only if he could get out of that warehouse alive with all the injuries that was inflicted upon him.
Jade turned around to find him standing up, holding the side where a bullet grazed him. “You good?”
“I’m fine.”
“Here, take it.” He looked down, finding his skull mask on her hand already cleaned from the blood and dirt, most importantly dry. “I put it beside the little fire all night. Looks good as new. Thought you’ll need it.” Jade smiled as she looked up to accommodate their height difference. If he were to be honest, he didn’t even realize that his face had been out in the open for so long. When was the last time he had his face open this long on a mission, outside, and spent a night with a woman like this?
Still, he owed her so much after this one. She essentially saved his life.
Ghost smiled softly, taking the mask back and wore them over his head, finally covering his face. “Thanks, Lottie. I appreciate it.”
“Anytime, Love.”
Jade turned back to the table to tidy up and wear her gear, but Ghost could only stand dumbfounded at the word that just came out of her mouth.
Love.
Thank the heavens he’d worn the mask already or she would find his face as red as her hair. Fuck.
Well, at least that’s an improvement from ‘Beanpole’.
-----
Alejandro arrived ten minutes after his call with Jade driving an SUV alone. He found the safehouse after Laswell had given him the location. Alejandro was welcomed by Ghost and Jade already outside, gears on and ready to go.
“¡Hola, Ghost, Jade!” Alejandro shouted to them as he stopped beside the wooden cabin, a wide grin on his face. He got off the car to approach Jade, who had the same grin on her face and hugged the woman as a greeting. Ghost's body tensed beside them.
“Cómo estás, Hermana.” The Mexican colonel said, patting Jade’s back in the hug.
“Muy bien, muy bien, Coronel.”
Seeing Jade smile like that while in someone else’s embrace irked Ghost. Huh.
Alejandro leaned back, looking at the lieutenant up and down, “You good, Ghost?”
“Not dead yet.” He replied.
“Good to see you alive, Hermano. If you both are ready, we can get out of here, and we’ll get you both home.”
Something clicked in Jade’s mind. “Oh, Lord. I forgot one of my knives under the bed. Sorry, can I go back for a sec?”
“Sure.” Alejandro replied, leaning back to the side of the car before Jade walked towards the warehouse to find her blades.
As both men waited, the Mexican glanced at Ghost, who was staring at the woman’s back as she walked her way to the cabin. He knew that since the Las Almas mission, something was going on between these two Brits, prompting an amused scoff out of him.
“Told you not to get lost.”
The Brit flinched and looked at Alejandro, a small smile on his lips. He remembered the last thing that he’d said before leaving Las Almas along with the rest of 141.
‘¡No te pierdas, Carnal!’
Ghost only scoffed, shifting his weight to his leg, recalling a conversation he had years ago with Price back in the SAS base.
**
“You ever think about settlin’ down, Simon?”
“....No.”
“Maybe we’ll break a leg, get shot, and our career’s over. Think you’ll find yourself a woman?”
“...She’s got to be one crazy bird, then.”
A wheeze from the captain, “Takes crazy to love crazy, innit.”
“If only there’s a woman insane enough to love me.”
**
With the sight of Jade running back their way with the said knife, Ghost turned to Alejandro, surprising him a little bit as he didn’t expect Ghost to say anything, saying,
“I’m found, Hermano.”
The Mexican colonel laughed at Ghost’s response and patted his back. “That you are. Now let’s get you home.”

Let’s start from the beginning one last time.
My name is Miguel O’Hara, and in an experiment gone wrong, my genetic code was partially rewritten with Spider DNA, giving me superpowers.
My home is Earth 928-C where I was the one and only Spiderman... of my home dimension at least.
I invented and built a dimensional travel device that allowed me to jump between universes with the goal of exploring the limits of the multiverse.
And then I met a woman in this other world who nearly died from a crazy freak accident.
I saved her of course.
Then I saved her again.
And again, and again.
... And again.
We fell in love, and I decided to stay with her in her world.
You know the rest. We got married. We had a life together.
I was happy. Really happy.
For a while.

"Goddamn idiot bird," Miguel mutters under his breath.
Vulture is on the loose again, wreaking havoc on the city. The maniac is flying high above the city grounds, leaving a trail of mayhem in his wake.
Miguel's been in pursuit for the better half of two hours. In that time, the bird has derailed the High Line, literally hit a traffic light and managed to knock over the spire on the Statue of Liberty as if he was flying under the influence.
Then somehow flew across town through Tribeca, along Lower Manhattan and Greenwich Village and now reached all the way to Midtown Manhattan.
Dumbass ugly stupid bird.
Miguel digs his claws into the exterior of the limestone and granite of the Empire State Building to steady himself, using the momentum to leap forward.
The Vulture crashes into a skyscraper 50 feet ahead of Miguel, and in the mad dash, he can see a man tumble out of the building head first to the ground from the 30th floor.
Swinging forward, Miguel slings out a web from his palm, catching the screaming and sobbing office worker in midair and lands briefly against the windowpane. He ensures the man is secured to the building in a cocoon of webbing until the fire department can get him to safer grounds.
Miguel doesn't even get a second to catch his breath. From afar, he can pick up the sound of another window being crashed into by the unwieldy metal bird.
Crap.
It's impossible for Miguel to both chase the Vulture and keep everyone else in his path of destruction safe. One superhero can't be in two places at once (none that he has encountered).
Gritting his teeth, Miguel leaps off the building swinging freely into the air to make up on the lost ground between him and the metallic cuckoo bird.
He needs backup, and the backup is unfortunately running late.
Where is he? Why is he always late?
Does that man not understand that when someone calls for backup because of an emergency, the emergency part indicates that there's some urgency to it?
Flying through the air 100 feet above the ground, from the corner of his eyes, Miguel catches the familiar garish red flowing cape that billows from the cowl of the grand cloak and suit.
Miguel would know that weird wizard get-up anywhere.
"Strange!" Miguel calls out, and he can feel irritation rattle in his chest. "You're late! Where the shock were you?"
"The word you're looking for is 'fuck.' Where the fuck was I," the man responds with a sarcastic drawl.
Strange levitates through the air, effortlessly without expending any energy at all as he catches up with Miguel. "You gave me no notice. Be happy I showed up at all."
From a distance he sees the dumb bird soar high up into the sky and towards the all too familiar crowned roof of the Chrysler building.
No. nononono.
Why is he there? What is he doing there? Anywhere but there.
His back flashes cold then burning hot as the Vulture makes a straight beeline for the familiar building.
It’s fine. Maybe he’s not going to fly in there. Maybe he’s just going to fly past it.
Miguel watches as the metallic bird soars up and up and up, past the midpoint of the building, past the 40th floor of your office and up to the 50th floor. The tight squeeze in his chest eases.
Then the vulture stops, mid-flight and looks down below, as if he changed his mind, before he descends again.
Shit! Shit! SHIT!
He dives into one of the windows between the 40th and 50th floor. The sound of broken glass and shrill screams can be heard even from where Miguel is.
Blood freezes in his veins and nausea overtakes him. Calm down. Breathe.. Maybe you’re not in. After all, Lyla’s security protocols would’ve been activated by now if you were. He would’ve been alerted.
Soaring through the skies, Miguel reaches over to his wrist to punch in the dial for Lyla to check in and reassure himself you're safe. But his tracker blinks back in an alarming red, and he darts down his head towards the display.
Error.
His heart stops.
The flying silhouette reappears through the shattered windows and the metallic harness strapped onto the vulture gleams bright against the sun.
It’s only then it hits him. Lyla's been deactivated by the madman's stupid Electro-Magnetic Harness.
Why hadn't he foreseen that as a technical flaw?
Against the reflective glass panes, Miguel sees you, caught in the Vulture talons like a mouse captured by a large predatory bird. Every hair on his neck stands on end. His vision bleeds into red, blood roaring at the sight of it.
Kill him.
Miguel's gonna murder that freak for touching you. Crush his windpipe so he can't ever squawk again, then rip his throat out with his claws and feed it to the street pigeons for good measure.
Launching himself through the air, Miguel tears up the side of the building. The tempered glass beneath his claws and feet, shatters into sharp jagged pieces as he closes the distance.
He is almost within reach. Only some 30 feet that still separates you from him. Leaping the final distance he slams hard into the side of the Vulture until metal crunches beneath his feet.
Miguel roars until his throat burns with it. Palms gripping at the man’s jaw and prying it back to get at his bare throat. His fangs are ready to sink into the jugular. He can see the dark pupil of Vulture's eyes dilate with fear.
Good. Miguel's anger will be the last thing this freak sees.
"Miguel calm down," Strange shouts at him from behind. "You're gonna knock her off."
Miguel freezes at the warning, forcing himself to hold still as he looks down to where you are dangling precariously from the Vulture's claws.
"Be ready," Strange shouts, and Miguel looks to him, not understanding what the hell he means.
Strange rests his hand over the shiny blue gem hanging around a chain from his neck.
What does he mean by be ready? What is Strange going to do?
"What'd you mea–"
Miguel doesn't have a chance to finish the rest of his sentence. An unnatural force vibrates through him. A pulsating wave that pervades his senses, punching through his lungs and knocks him back.
In an instance, you're propelled away from Strange and the Vulture, and you are freefalling towards the ground below.
Miguel leaps mid-air, arms outstretched to catch you as you plummet towards the ground below. His fingers clasps around your wrists, your warm skin against his fingertips.
He's got you!
Taking hold of you by the arm, Miguel pulls you into his chest as he wraps one arm securely around your waist.
Immediate relief fills him from the inside out as the adrenaline and the searing anger is already starting to fade now that he knows you're safe.
"You okay, nena?" he asks.
You nod, arms finding purchase around the back of his neck, and squeeze down tight. He swings you both to the safety of a nearby rooftop.
There's barely time for him to touch the surface, he hears the nearby explosion and sees Vulture crash into the concrete wall of the nearest building.
Strange is levitating nearby, hands making wild gestures, presumably to perform some hocus pocus ritual. There’s a magical glow as strobes of light manifest out of thin air surrounding the Vulture from all sides and wrapping around him in a restraining bind.
Miguel sets you down. You're a little bit wobbly on your feet, and seeing you stumble the way you do has that protective streak spark anew in his chest.
Stupid Strange. He can't just do shit like that.
What if Miguel hadn't reacted in time? What if you had fallen?
This is why Miguel hates working with the guy, even if they’re friends. Always on his moral high horse about Miguel being reckless, then he pulls shit like this.
"Everyone alright?" Strange asks as he levitates through the sky to set feet close to you both on the rooftop.
Miguel grits his teeth with annoyance at the man’s casual demeanor when he nearly threw you out of the sky.
"Shock you, Strange," he spits out.
"Miggy..." you sigh in a reprimanding tone next to him.
Stephen shakes his head at him. "I told you. It's fuck"
"Fuck you, Strange."
Tumblr media
Sanctum Sanctorum is closer than home and Strange has, comfortable sofas in his ridiculously big mansion. Big enough sofas that Miguel can actually lounge in them comfortably without it feeling cramped. It's why, given the choice, he always prefer to regroup there, over your tiny apartment.
Besides, while the man's control over his magical powers can be suspect at times, he used to be a doctor. Supposedly one of the leading brain surgeons in the world, and Miguel is a lot more comfortable at the prospect of Strange giving you a checkover to make sure you don't need further medical attention than trying your luck at one of the local ERs.
"Follow my finger," Strange says as he shines a little flashlight into your eyes and moves his index from side to side.
Your eyes follow him dutifully, and Strange proceeds with the rest of his medical check, asking you the boring standard questions. "Any symptoms of dizziness, lightheadedness, or a sense of vertigo?"
He fires them out in rapid succession, and a bit too perfunctory for Miguel's liking.
"Noticed any changes in your vision, blurriness or double vision, etcetera etcetera?"
Miguel's jaw tic in irritation at how Strange is putting in minimal effort and just going through the motions.
"Yeah, you're fine." Strange pats your knees, then whisks the flashlight away into nothingness with his cape.
That medical check wasn't anything close to thorough. Miguel crosses his arms over his chest. "Are you sure? Her feet were wobbly before, I wanted to make sure she didn't sprain her ankle."
"A little bit overprotective as always aren't we?" Strange says.
Miguel shoots the man a glare and Stephen sighs, "Her reflexes are fine, I don't think anything's sprained."
"Check again, you seemed sloppy," Miguel accuses.
"You know, I'm doing this as a favor because you’re a friend. Do you have any idea how much a medical examination by one of the leading neurological surgeons in the world would cost you normally?"
"I'll have Lyla transfer the money."
“No, it’s not actually about money just–" Stephen shakes his head, then sighs. "Nevermind.”
He gestures for you to drape your leg across his lap, then he reaches over to gently assess your ankle as requested.
"What is this necklace?" You ask. You lean closer to Strange, inspecting the blue gem where it rests against his chest.
Strange swats at your hand, the way an adult scolds a child with sticky chocolate smeared hands trying to touch the fine china.
"It's a protection amulet. When activated it forms a protective barrier that forcibly repels everything within ten feet of you."
"Huh," you reach back for the amulet undaunted by the earlier reprimand, fascinated and clearly enamored by it. "I'll give you fifty bucks for it."
Strange looks offended. "It's not for sale, and if it was it would certainly be worth a lot more than fifty dollars. It's a genuine magical artifact, not fake costume jewelry from the theater department."
You purse your lips, considering the amulet.
"Forty," you offer.
Miguel has to choke back a snorting laughter in his throat at the way Stephen's eyes goes wide in confused outrage.
"Wait, why is the price going down?"
“We’re in the middle of an economic crisis, Stephen,” you counter.
Strange's head darts over to where Miguel sits, presumably for backup, but he's knocked on the wrong door. The man must be mad if he thinks that there is ever a world where Miguel would side against you.
"Strange, we both know it’s easier if you just give her the amulet." Miguel says.
The man sighs, shaking his head in defeat.
"Be careful with it," he says as he drags the chain over his head to place it in your awaiting palms. "And don't lose it like the invisibility amulet with Mysterio. Had to spend a whole month clearing up your mess when that creep used it to get into the women's locker rooms at every local gym in Greenwich!"
"That wasn’t my mess! Miggy lost that one during an aerial fight. You can't blame that on me."
"You married him, so you're responsible for him. I consider you two jointly to blame."
"Now you're just lashing out," you shoot back.
Miguel watches the two of you in patient boredom, his head propped up by an elbow on the arm of the sofa. He expended way too much energy during the fight, and now he needs to refuel.
If Miguel leaves you two to it, you'll spend an eternity bantering, the way you do. His stomach growls. He wants food. Wants wantons and beef ho fun and a dozen custard salted egg buns for dessert. And the longer you two are at it, the longer it's going to take for him to get it.
"Nena," he calls out, "I'm hungry. Are you two done? I want to go for dinner."
You shoot Miguel a quick smile, pulling out your wallet and take out a wad of green bills then fold it into Strange's hand with a happy grin.
Strange looks down at the crumpled up money in his hand. "Wait, you're only giving me thirty? I thought we said forty."
"You still owe me like ten bucks from mini golf last week."
Strange pockets the money with a grumble. "Unbelievable."
“C’mon,” Miguel says as he stands up and gestures to the both of you with a curt nod of his head towards the door. “Let’s go. I’ll pay for dinner this time,” Miguel says, and that seems to abate Strange’s outrage somewhat as the man grabs your coat from the sofa cushions and offers it to you.

Life on Earth 383-D is strange.
Life here is borderline primitive. The technology is something out of the stone ages.
Social media is a wasteland. Reality TV is a dystopian concept. And he doesn't understand who Kardashian is or why everyone is obsessed with her and her family.
He does like fax machines though. They are basically teleportation machines and it boggles him that the people of your dimension do not seem to understand its potential.
The one thing he will give this version of earth credit for is that the food here is nice. Everyone in his home dimension is too health conscious, and fried food has long been banned by the government for the long term damage it does to the cardiovascular system.
He also likes the life that the two of you have built together here. You have a home in that tiny shoebox apartment. You have friends. Strange friends. Like the Doctor who flies around with the help of a magic cape and now practices the mystic arts after a gap year in Asia. A young girl whose main superpower is the ability to communicate with squirrels. Then there’s that ugly red-masked wise-cracking, katana-wielding maniac who never dies.
Sadly, your friends are not the only thing that is strange about your surroundings.
Miguel perches himself on top of the Chrysler building sitting hunched over on the ledge of the roof. He’s drained and bone-tired, chasing down a helicopter that had gone haywire and was hurtling towards your office building.
Luckily Strange was able to assist and sent it through a magic portal to crash into the Atlantic without putting any lives at stake.
"Just had to do some cleaning up," Strange says as he sets his boots back down on the ground.
Miguel doesn't answer him, staring out at the city view and the setting sun as he takes a well earned breather for a moment or two. New York is a bit of a shit hole, but it does look pretty from a high viewpoint, especially when the sun is setting, Miguel has to give this city that.
It's silent between the two of them. Or at least it is until Strange decides to break it with a harkle of his throat. When Miguel doesn't react the man does it again, coughing discreetly in a clear attempt to get his attention.
Miguel doesn't say anything about the man's sore throat. He ran out of the lemon drops you bought him as snacks hours ago, but he does tilt his head up at the man.
"She's been getting into a lot of these incidents lately. More than usual, more than any normal human for it to be a coincidence" Strange says.
The whole of Miguel's back stiffens.
"Have you noticed the abnormal uptick in strange unexplainable supernatural occurrences lately? Indoor tornadoes. The rain of poisonous frogs outside of whole foods. A sinkhole appearing right next to the cafe your wife frequents."
Miguel doesn't love the insinuations. Even with his lips pressed tightly together, Miguel can feel the small muscle in his jaw flex like a nervous tic at the mention of it. Because yeah, he's noticed, kind of hard to miss when your wife's life is in constant peril at all hours of the day.
Ice storms in July that hit right outside your workplace. An inexplicable solar flare causing a blackout that had every single vehicle within a 5 miles radius go haywire in the dark near your apartment. A swarm of mutated mosquitoes with a venomous bite that chased you down Central Park.
The incidents are occurring more frequently. They are also getting increasingly bizarre and dangerous.
No one can say it’s just bad luck when the daily occurrences around you are defying the very laws of nature itself. Something isn't right with the universe, and he's not sure what else there is to do except pretend that everything is still ok.
"What are you implying?" Miguel asks through gritted teeth.
But for the first time in the years that Miguel has known him, Strange's talkativeness is nowhere to be found. He doesn't answer Miguel. He's smart that way, the clever bastard. Knows that if he says one wrong word, Miguel is going to unhinge his jaws like a feral alligator and snap at him.
Strange has said what he needed for Miguel to know exactly what he's getting at. The man just meets his eyes with an intentional stare, not shying away from Miguel's glare.
It's not like the thought hasn't crossed Miguel's mind. Not like it hasn't been keeping him up at night, every night.
Even though you've always been accident prone and suffered from bad luck, at this point it's a mathematical impossibility that anyone would run into as many near death incidents as you have.
This isn't by chance. It's by design. Miguel's suspected as much for a while now. He just doesn't know whose design and why.
"It's not her fault," Miguel spits out.
"I never said it was."
"Even if what you are saying is true..." Miguel stops, and stares down at his fisted palms with a sinking feeling in his guts. "There's nothing she can do about it to stop it. You can't put that on her."
"Whether she knows about it or not, if it's true, none of this is going to go away.
Strange walks over to where Miguel is, sitting down next to him.
"It’s been escalating in severity," he continues. "There are strange universal energies attached to her. There’s warping of the universal order and space around her. We don't know how bad this can get, if we don’t do anything about this, it could unravel the fabric of reality itself."
Despite the calamity of what Strange is implying, his voice is even and calm as he says it as if he might as well be discussing the weather. That trait has always annoyed the shit out of Miguel.
"What are you planning to do if this continues?" Strange asks.
It's such a silly question. Strange says it as if this is a multiple choice question. But for Miguel there's only one correct answer.
"Protect her. I have to. She's everything to me."
Miguel is staring into the sunset bu all he sees before him is your face even though you aren’t here. The happy smile that he wants to preserve forever. He tries to fight the ache that's building in him at the thought that it would go away.
"Strange, don't tell her. Please. She doesn't need that burden."
He fists his palms into his side.
Miguel never liked asking for help, but even he knows that if what Strange is saying is true. That if the universe for some unfathomable reason wants you dead, then he's going to need all the help he can get.
If Strange has figured it out. Then it's only a matter of time before others do as well.
Soon enough, you won't just have the universe coming after you but every superhero and villain combined in a united front to take out the common threat that you pose to this entire universe.
Even Miguel knows he can't do this alone and as much as that helplessness tastes like failure and bile in his throat, he can swallow his pride if it helps keep you safe.
"Stephen, you have to help me save her."
From behind, Strange rests one hand on the corner of his shoulder. The weight of it feels like a promise being made. For the first time in a long time, Miguel feels like he can breathe just a little bit easier.
"I will do what I can, my friend."
Tumblr media
Weeks go by. There are more incidents. Runaway vehicles that go haywire. Electrical storm fires. Rain of poisonous locusts.
Somehow he manages to protect you from it all.
It just means that he has to be more vigilant, that's all. The universe doesn't rest and neither does Miguel now. Lyla has been set on constant alert to wake him up whenever he's napping at any small signs of abnormal occurrences happening near you, with an electric shock to make sure he wakes. Something the A.I. is taking a worryingly amount of glee in (which probably means he needs to retune her programming when he has time).
And today, today Miguel was meant to have a Sunday lie in. Universe be willing, his goal was to sleep all the way into the late afternoon and then you had promised to take him to IHOP and get him all the pancakes he could eat for late breakfast.
But right now he's not asleep. He's trying to. But there are hushed words and whispered murmurs, buzzing in his ear that keeps trying to drag him away from sleep.
It's you and Strange.
Judging from the distance of the noises, you're both standing outside in the hall. The fact that you two are trying to be quiet makes it worse. If you'd spoken in normal volume he could tune it out as white noise, but the conspiratorial quietness of it all makes the hair on the back of his neck tingle with alertness.
Fuck's sake. He swears to god if you two are gossiping and making fun of Hercules’ costume (or the lack of it) again.
It's too early for this crap. Don't you two know that people are trying to sleep? He was up all night chasing crazy Kraven worshippers releasing animals from the Brooklyn zoo. Miguel had to gather wild zebras and crocodiles all the way down East Village til 4am.
With a groan, he drags himself halfway up along the mattress, about to go and growl at you both to be quiet, when the cluttered noises register as words and the fuzziness of sleep clears momentarily.
"He'd destroy this world for you."
Huh? What are you two talking about?
Miguel's too groggy to make sense of the context of what's being said. Even with his super hearing he has to focus to make out the words.
"You can't let him."
Irritated, he gets out of bed and walks to the front door to swing it open. The first thing he sees is you standing with Strange in the hallway. You jump at the suddenness and look up at him with wide eyes.
You have the worst poker face of anyone he's ever seen in his life.
"What are you two jabbering on about this damn early?" he asks.
He'd expected the two of you to act coy, maybe a clever 'wouldn't you like to know' retort back from the Mystic. Instead, Strange's face is entirely inscrutable, tone serious as he responds.
"We were just catching up. Nothing important. I need to head back," Strange says, then he turns to you with a meaningful tilt to his head. "Think about what I said."
"What was that about?" Miguel asks you as he watches Strange step through a portal and disappear.
You don't say anything. There's a worried frown etched between your eyebrows as you bite down on your lip.
Something crawls under Miguel's skin at the whole interaction.
Tumblr media
You're oddly quiet the whole afternoon. Deep in thought and walking around as if in a daze, which unsettles him.
It's not difficult for him to guess what's wrong. He might have been half asleep when you and Strange were whispering in the corridors, but Miguel can put one and one together. Having two PHDs and a lifetime's experience of working in theoretical physics gives you that leg up.
In a last ditch effort to get you out of the uncharacteristic blues, he orders a dozen of your favorite cupcakes from that tiny shop in New Jersey. It costs an arm and a leg to have it couriered, but it'll be worth it if it makes you smile.
Then he sits down next to you on the bed and places the pink pastry box down on the mattress. It's your favorite place to eat cakes and it’s why you two always end up with crumbs and frosting all over the sheets.
You happily cram half a cupcake into your mouth in one bite as you eat, and he watches you contently. If there was any fairness in the world, this quiet idyllic moment could last forever. In a good world, Miguel wouldn’t have to burst this perfect bubble.
Sadly, this world is neither fair nor good sometimes.
"Strange said something to you right?" Miguel asks.
You still next to him, clearly torn between whether or not to share what was said to you, probably in secret with the very intention of being kept away from him.
“Nena,” Miguel tries again, and you close your eyes taking a deep breath, caving into his prodding.
"Strange thinks that my incidents might be correlated with the strange natural occurrences lately."
That fucking asshole. He knew it. Irritation pings across his jaw, and Miguel bites it down. He tries to reel it, forcing back the rant that wants to surface. Instead he tries to focus on you instead of his own anger.
"We don't know that. It could just be a series of coincidences," Miguel tells you.
You nod, but Miguel's not an idiot and neither are you. He can see the worry creasing your eyes as you look down to your lap.
Putting down the cupcake, he reaches over and links his right hand with yours.
"Nena, don't worry.” He cups his free hand over your cheek to drag you up to meet his eyes.
“I'll fight the whole universe to keep you safe if I have to. Nothing's ever going to harm you so long as I'm here. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. You're the most important thing to me."
You smile at him at the words, but there's a wistfulness to it that embeds a dull ache in his chest that he wants to physically rub away to make it stop.
You lean into his touch, until your forehead presses up against his and the physical touch blunts the ache in him for a moment, putting it on pause.
"You’re the most important to me too," you say.
Tumblr media
The sky itself cracks open not long after.
It doesn’t take the combined forces and intellect of the entire world too long to hone in on you being the root cause. Soon enough every superhero, mutant, villain and alien starts coming after you. Because hero or villain alike, no one truly wants their world to end, not if it’s not on their terms.
Mysterio tries to kidnap you by the elevator in your apartment building. The Human Torch even tries to burn the whole building down. The Punisher tries to murder you point blank outside your office.
Miguel can’t remember the last time he slept. He’s running on fumes. Day after day, he feels like he’s getting by on borrowed time.
The friends and allies you have thin out fast as the threats to the world increase in severity. Miguel never imagined having Deadpool standing outside his door stating that the life of one single person cannot outweigh the universe itself.
It’s all so stupid. None of them know what they’re talking about. A lynching mob with their torches and pitchforks. Never stopping to think whether harming you could trigger something much worse.
If Strange is right and you are the knot at the center of the fabric of reality that is coming apart, then ripping that out leaves a hole. Miguel gave up on explaining that fairly quickly because he realized that theoretical consequences doesn’t matter to an angry mob scared of facing the reality of extinction.
It all becomes a blur.
Exhaustion eats into his bones, until he can no longer tell the days apart. No matter how many times he saves you, disaster is always waiting just around the corner.
And now he’s chasing down the Green Goblin to the top of the Chrysler building from the 61st floor, where the green freak has cornered you to the edge of the rooftop.
Miguel is already out of breath, running away from the coalition of superheroes and villains that are hot on his heels, trying to stop him from saving you.
Adrenaline beats fast in his veins as he keeps running. Miguel is only able to make out those in pursuit in brief glimpses. The bright blue spandex suit of Reed Richards as his freakishly long elastic limbs stretch towards him. The blocks of metal hurtling towards Miguel, missing by inches and crashes into the side of a building as Magneto’s form hovers nearby.
He ignores them all, not sparing a glance behind him. He just has to keep moving. It doesn't matter that his muscles scream and burn in exhaustion. Doesn't matter that his head dulls with a heavy ache from lack of sleep. He has to keep going for you. Has to save you.
He's so close, he's almost there.
From the corner of his eyes, he makes out the familiar garish red flowing cape fluttering against the blue sky.
Strange.
Miguel marginally relaxes, at the sight of the sole ally he has left in this universe. He leaps across the rooftop, into the temporary safety of the observatory deck.
His feet doesn't even reach the ground. Something restrains him from behind. Bright lights materialize out of thin air. It wraps around Miguel's limb with the strength of unbreakable manacles, hugging him so tight it restricts the flow of blood to his fingers. Then he’s brought down to his knees.
Miguel whips his head back and Strange stands there, hands formed in a holding gesture.
“What are you–”
"I'm sorry," Strange says.
Miguel snarls at his restraints, wrenching and twisting in every direction he is able to even with the limited range of motion, but it's to no avail. The harder he struggles the more forceful the restraints seem to close in on him, mirroring his strength.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this. I really hoped there was another way but every life in the whole of the universe is at stake, Miguel."
Hot burning anger spears through him, and if he could he would raze it all to the ground with it. This place, this world and this fucking traitor standing there can all fucking burn. Miguel is gonna kill him. He's gonna kill this fucking bastard. He can't believe he trusted him.
“Strange, fucking let me… Stephen!”
He hears your pained shout and snaps his head towards the sound.
Miguel is only ten feet away from you. Ten measly feet from where the Green Goblin is holding you by the ledge of the rooftop. He can still reach you, if he can get free he can still save you.
Tearing through the magical binds, there’s a bone-cracking sound in his shoulder. Searing pain spreads through his arm. For all his struggles, he doesn't know if he’s even an inch closer towards you.
He watches you drop from the ledge.
It's a pin drop moment where everything stops. His heart is no longer beating.
No. This can't be how it ends.
He's moving forward, even as the sharp restraints digs into his limbs and flesh and burrows in with an excruciating ache. But the pain doesn't matter. All that matters is you.
It claws into him, and digs and tears, until he is sure that his entire limbs are going to be torn off, but he doesn't stop, keeps pulling against the resisting strength that surrounds him, rips against the hindrance embracing every ounce of the pain until finally, the pressure gives.
There's a cacophony of sound that's left behind him as he leaps through the air. He slingshots downwards, cutting through air as he tries to reach you.
Miguel catches your hand and relief fills his chest.
"I got you. I got you," he murmurs. He's not sure if those words are to calm you or himself.
Pulling you up in defiance of the pull of gravity, he tries to haul you up towards him. Your hand squirms in his, and if you keep going you're going to slip out of his grasp.
"Nena, don't move," he shouts in alarm, but you don't stop, twisting in all directions, making it harder for him to get a better grip.
What're you– You're resisting against his strength, why would you...
It hits him with a sickening realization.
You don' want him to save you.
"Stop!" he shouts. “Stop!”
You shake your head, tears filling the corner of your eyes that flow upwards and everything is upside down to him.
"We’re out of time. You have to let me go,” you say.
His fingers squeeze down even harder at your words, refusing to hear it.
“There's still time. There are still other options. I can still save you!”
Your hand reaches for the amulet pressed against your collarbone. Dread floods every nerve in his body as he sees your fingers squeeze around it.
"No!" He shouts. Screams it so loud it burns in his lungs. But deep down he knows it's not going to make any difference. "Nena, don't!"
The wind whips too loudly against his face. The sound of your heart pounding so painfully hard in his ear that it's deafening and he knows that sound will haunt him forever.
You're scared.
He sees your lips move, but he can't hear what you're saying.
But he's heard these words so many times before from your lips that he knows them by heart.
''I love you.''
An invisible force blasts away at him, it shatters through him through his limbs and torso into the very soft tissue of his stomach and makes his teeth shake. He's propelled upwards, unable to control his movements or defy the gravity that he's learned to navigate after all these years mid-air.
He holds on as hard as he can to your hand, but it doesn't matter. His fingers slip, his grip is lost.
You're falling through the sky.
Tumblr media
Miguel doesn't remember much after that.
Somehow he makes it back onto the ground.
Somehow he finds you amongst the cracked dirty concrete.
Somehow, despite falling from over a 100 feet your body is still intact where it lies lifeless on the ground.
Your bones are broken though. Body limp and soft in his arms in a way that has never felt more wrong to him. His only consolation is that you're still warm in his arms, and he thinks that maybe if he just doesn't let go, if he holds you tightly pressed to him the way he is doing now, it'll remain that way forever.
The sky has cleared above. There are no cracks in the azure blue canvas.
This world is saved.
His world has ended.

The Rite of Movement | part five
“something I’m not, but something I can be”
Tumblr media
A/N: big disclaimer for this chapter: I do not know if this is actually how the porn industry functions. And while Brazzers is a real porn site, I don’t have any knowledge of how they run things on their site. For the sake of fiction, and the storyline, I wrote Joel’s era in Brazzers as a very very toxic work environment. Please heed the warnings. This takes place pre-miller-co. Joel and baby love have not met yet. Joel does however have a girlfriend during his time at Brazzers. Oh, and I listened to what was I made for on repeat while I wrote this 🥺 thank you to @itsokbbygrl for betaing and being my little cheerleader through this series 💗 and thank you to all my other friends for your endless support on my silly lil stories! (Y’all know who you are and how much I love you!)
~word count: 3.1k~
Summary: it’s Joel Miller’s 30th birthday. 30 years of existing, 12 years working for Brazzers, and what does he really have to show for his life outside of being a pornstar?
Pairing | pornstar!joel x pornstar!female reader
Warnings: angst, implied smut, toxic work environment, implied workplace abuse, mentions of the porn industry, misogynistic comments/behavior towards women in the porn industry (not by Joel), feelings of body insecurity, shame, mentions of smoking, grief, resentment, language, mature themes, +18 minors dni!

Los Angeles, CA. September 26, 2009
An alarm clock blares on Joel’s nightstand, the shrill sound pierces his eardrums, sending his arm flying out from under the covers, smacking the top of the device, silencing it with a heavy groan rumbling up his chest.
6:00 a.m. the sun has barely just begun to peek over the mountains, the bustle of LA traffic, late-night goers returning home, early-morning risers preparing for another droning day.
The big 30: The age where you were expected to have your shit together. No more making foolish mistakes, no more job hopping, you should be married with kids and have a house with a white picket fence and drive a minivan. You should be invested in the stock market, your lawn should be properly trimmed, maybe you even make enough money to own a vacation home.
Joel hadn’t a fucking clue what he wanted out of life. He wasn’t married. He didn’t have any kids. He lived in an apartment with his brother Tommy, splitting the rent between their paychecks. LA never felt like home to him. He liked the palm trees and the beach. He hated LA traffic, smog, and that stupid Hollywood sign that alluded to a lifestyle that only the ‘chosen’ members of high society would get to indulge in.
City of Angels? Not even close.
30 years old, and feeling like he had nothing to show for his life outside of being a pornstar. A branding identity that shamed him more times than he was willing to admit. Is this all I’m good for?
Brazzers was the bane of his existence for 12 years, and yet every time he would try and put his foot down and quit, he was lured right back in. He loved sex just like anyone else. He loved the intimacy, the closeness, the connection to another human being. Above all, he loved making his partners feel good. To make them come, fall apart on his tongue, fingers, or his cock. To hear their pleasured cries, high-pitched real moans of his name.
It was euphoric for him, to make another person feel so good that they completely lose themselves in the moment, in the feeling of the rite of movement. He used to think that this was enough, that the act of sex and unbridled pleasure was all viewers would want to see. He thought he was enough.
But in the adult film industry, sex was never just enough.
He didn’t like being told how he should fuck.
Yank her hair harder.
Slap her around a little.
Squeeze her cheeks till she cries.
Choke her.
I want to see bruises on her ass, Joel.
Fuck her like you mean it, like you hate her. Like she’s your bitch. Your property.
Are we making a porno here or what? Don’t wipe her tears. That’s not what men want. They want to see a cunt being pounded. C’mon, Joel. This is supposed to be a male fantasy!
He learned how to dissociate and remove himself from the scene entirely. He worked on autopilot, tuning out the jarring voices that demanded more from him and his partner(s). And when the passion faded, he struggled to stay hard and on top of his game.
And even with the warm, wet mouth of a fluffer sucking his soft cock, he wasn’t turned on. Not in the slightest and he could feel the shame creeping up on his neck as the director barked at him to get his shit together.
“What do you mean you’re not able to get hard, Miller? You got a hot piece of ass under you, man! What the hell else do you want? Y’know, would it really hurt for you to be more like your brother?”
“She’s got a name, you know.” Joel bit back, grinding his jaw back and forth. The blatant disrespect that women faced on a day to day basis was downright disgusting.
“Oh for fuck’s sake. You make pornos, Joel! Or did you forget? Stop acting like a fucking sissy and do your goddamn job.”
“I need a minute,” he gruffed out and gently pushed the fluffer's mouth off of his cock. He strode past the director and the rest of the set crew and pulled his boxers on in a haste.
“Fine. You get 10 minutes, Miller. And when you get back, I expect you to be fucking ready, and hard.”
Joel didn’t respond as he shucked on his shorts and threw on his hoodie, grabbing his phone and pack of cigarettes to stuff in his pocket. He averted making eye contact with the director, shoulder checking him on his way out of the room.
10 minutes, Miller!
Fuck you is what Joel really wanted to say as he walked at a fast past towards the nearest exit in the long hallway.
-
The sun was blinding the moment he stepped outside into the back alley. He whipped his phone out, nervously pacing back and forth as he dialed Tommy’s number, listening to the dial tone ring and ring.
“Hey, you old fart! Feelin’ 30 yet?” Tommy said playfully.
“Yeah. I’m feelin’ 30 alright.” Joel grumbled, sinking back against the side of the building.
“What’s up? I know how much you hate your birthday, but why do you sound so—”
“I’m fuckin’ quitting, Tommy. I can’t do this shit anymore. I can’t fuckin’ do it. I’m about five seconds away from stormin’ back in there and beatin’ the living shit out of the director.” He snapped, carding his fingers through his hair, gripping the roots tightly. “I’m throwin’ the towel in, and I ain’t lookin’ back.”
“Woah, woah, woah! Hold on now, what the fuck happened? Are you sure you just want to—”
“Tommy. Joel warned him, squeezing his eyes shut as he pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger. “Don’t start this with me, okay? I need to know if you’re with me on this because I sure as hell ain’t leavin’ you out here on your own.”
“I ain’t a kid anymore, Joel. If you want to quit for your own reasons, that’s fine, and I support you, but that doesn’t mean that—” he sighed deeply, weighing out his words in his head before he said, “of course I’m with you on this.”
“I’m not gonna force you to quit, Tommy. I jus’ don’t think this cesspool is fuckin’ good for either of us. Talked to a few others that were thinkin’ of quitting, but no one has pulled the trigger yet. We can do some amateur work till we find our footing again, and I want to move back home, Tommy. I want to move back to Texas. I fuckin’ hate this state. Everythin’ is too damn expensive.”
“I’ll follow you wherever you go, Joel. You know I will. But what about…Carmen and Sarah? You jus’ gonna pack your shit up and not tell her?”
Joel felt his heart twist and clench, knocking the air from his lungs because for the first time in his 30 years of life, his heart was going to be broken, and there was nothing he could do to prevent the inevitable from happening.
“She’s never gonna accept me for who I am and my job, Tommy. She resents it, I know she does. And Sarah will eventually resent me too. She’ll grow up and feel ashamed that her stepfather is a fuckin’ pornstar. They both deserve better than what I can offer them. It’s not like I can just start over and get a respectable job! What established company is gonna hire a guy who’s CV consists of a highschool diploma, a year of working construction jobs and 12 years in the adult film industry?”
Tommy felt his heart break for his brother, splitting right down the middle. “Joel…” he trailed off.
“Her friends treat me differently, and everytime I’ve brought up the potential of meeting her family, she changes the subject on me, Tommy. And you know what? I don’t blame her. Who the fuck would want to introduce their pornstar boyfriend to anyone, let alone her family? I jus’ figured I’d cut her losses sooner rather than later. And even if things were to work out, and I get a new job, a new life, am I just supposed to accept the knowledge of knowin’ that the entire time we have been together, she’s resented my job? Some things just aren’t meant to work out, and that’s fine. I’ll let her go and she’ll meet a nice, normal, man with a good stable job who doesn’t fuck for a living.”
Joel Miller. Paging, Joel. You’re needed on set. Hurry the fuck up—
“Fuckers.” Joel muttered under his breath as he rose to his feet. “I gotta go, okay? I’ll text you in a bit.”
“Wait, Joel,” Tommy started, trying to think of what he could possibly say to his brother that would make the situation better. “Everythin’ is gonna be okay. It’ll all work out in the end.”
“Yeah, sure.” He replied flatly. “I’ll see you.” he ended the call, shoving his phone back into his hoodie pocket and pushed open the exit door just as his name was called over the intercom again.
This time he was going to put his foot down for good. He wasn’t going to be lured back in. He was done. His mind was made up and there would be no turning back.
-
“Fucking finally. I said 10 minutes, Miller. You’re lucky I even gave you that.” The director scoffed and snapped his fingers at the fluffer to do her job.
Joel stopped her with a gentle hand along her shoulder before he made direct eye contact with the director. “That won’t be necessary.”
“What the fuck do you mean that won’t be necessary? We were supposed to be wrapped up with this shit already. I have a freshie to introduce to you afterwards, so if we can just get a move on—”
“I said, that won’t be necessary.” Joel calmly reiterated as he grabbed his bag from the floor and slung it over his shoulder.
“Boy, you better fucking start talking. What do you mean that won’t be necessary?!”
“It means that I quit. And I hope that freshie and every other woman here fuckin’ quits while they still have the chance.”
The atmosphere in the brightly lit room immediately shifted and the tension was palpable. Joel’s onscreen partner was shocked, the fluffer was shocked along with the rest of the film crew.
“You have gotta fucking joking me right now.” The director laughed bitterly, shaking his head. “You got some fucking nerve, Miller.”
Joel shrugged, glancing around the room before he turned towards the door, grasping the handle in his palm and pushed it open. He paused, looking over his shoulder, giving his onscreen partner a small, reassuring nod, “oh, and just a little word of advice? If you want sex to sell, and for Brazzers to not tank like the fuckin’ stock market, start by treatin’ women in the industry with respect. Jus’ a little food for thought. Pass that onto the CEO, and then tell him to shove it right up his ass.”
He walked out after that, listening to the director holler his name and something along the lines of, you’ll be back. They always fucking come back!
And on his way out, his shoulder gently made contact with another body rushing up the stairwell. “‘S’cuse me.” He rasped.
You didn’t get a look at the stranger's face on your way up. You were too focused on the fact that you were running late, and couldn’t afford to be potentially fired.
He didn’t get a look at your face either.
-
Joel opted to be alone for the rest of the day, sitting on the hood of his car, smoking through an entire pack of cigarettes while he watched the clouds roll by, and tourists stop to take pictures of the infamous Hollywood sign. He thought about his life up until this point.
30 years on this shithole we call earth. 12 years spent in the adult film industry, and never had he felt so lost and alone. Hours away from ending his first ever long term relationship and leaving the past behind.
Fuck 30. He thought to himself.
The inevitable settled into his bones as the sun slowly began to set behind the mountains, creating stunning hues of pink, oranges and purples in the sky. His phone buzzed on the exterior of the hood of his car, tearing him away from his thoughts when Carmen’s name popped up on the screen.
Hey, birthday boy. Are we still on for Thai food tonight? x.
Hey, baby. Yeah, of course. Can’t wait to see you.
5 missed calls from Tommy
10 messages from Tommy.
What happened to fucking calling me later, Joel?!
Why is your phone going straight to voicemail!
Can you just let me know that you’re okay?!
Joel.
Dude.
Pick up your phone!
And you call me the bad texter?!
This isn’t funny.
I didn’t sign up for the silent treatment!
If you’re dead in a ditch somewhere I’m gonna fucking kill you!!
He typed out a quick message to his brother informing him that he was in fact still alive and that he would be home soon.
What he wasn’t expecting was Carmen and Tommy to host a surprise birthday dinner at his apartment. He wasn’t mad at his brother for not giving him a heads up, and it wasn’t like Tommy could tell Carmen a simple, hey, by the way, my brother is going to break up with you and he wants to move back to Texas!
But all Joel could feel now when she pressed her lips to his in a sweet kiss, and planted a silly little party hat on his head, was guilt. An overwhelming tidal wave of guilt and shame for what he was going to do. And throughout the evening his guilt began to fester like an untreated wound. Bubbling pus leaked from his heartstrings like a broken faucet when he opened his unexpected present from Carmen.
It was a pocket wrist watch with an olive green strap that fit his wrist perfectly.
“You’re always misplacing your phone, so I figured that this would help you tell the time better? I know it isn’t much—”
He interjected softly, looking over at her with a small smile tugging on his lips, “It’s perfect. Thank you.” I’m so sorry.
And when Tommy stepped outside for a smoke and to give Joel and Carmen a bit of privacy, the energy shifted and Joel could feel the thread between them being pulled tight, threatening to snap at any given moment.
“Joel, is everything okay? You’ve hardly said a word to me tonight.”
And instead of responding, he got up from the couch in a haste, trying to keep his nerves at bay, but truthfully? He was panicking and it was written all over his face. “I’m fine, Carm. I jus’—I need some air.” He walked the short distance to the little balcony, pulling the door open as he stepped outside into the cooling night air.
Lights shimmered in the distance, palm trees swayed from a breeze off the coast. 30 years old and he felt like the biggest fucking asshole on the planet. Can I fix this? Can I make it work?
He stared down at the watch on his wrist, the tiny spokes ticking away as he rested his forearms along the paint chipped railing, listening to the soft squeak of the sliding door being pulled open as the blood rushed in his ears.
He tapped his foot nervously, jaw ticking under the fading light at the realization that there was no turning back.
“Do you love me?” He suddenly spoke, teeth grinding down on the inside of his cheek, the taste of copper bursting on his tongue. A reminder come morning when he would awake to the same soreness in his mouth that he feels in his heart.
“Joel…” she trailed off, standing alongside him, rubbing her arm as a self-soothing gesture.
“Do you love me…unconditionally?” His question hung heavy in the air, and when she didn’t immediately answer, tears began to prick the corner of his eyes, stinging and blurring his vision.
“Baby, please…why are—”
“Please don’t call me that right now, Carmen. Please.” he sniffled, staring back out over the railing at the shimmering mirage of Los Angeles. “If you did love me unconditionally, you would have answered me right away. It’s okay, I’m not mad at you. I could never be mad at you. I jus’—I know you resent me for being a pornstar. I’ve known about it for a while,” he said softly, feeling a tear rolling down along the side of his nose and drip down over his lips. His dewy eyed gaze met hers briefly, before he looked away. “And I also know that you would never ask me to quit, but you and I both know that’s what you want from me.”
There was no point in trying to deny it any longer. There was no bad blood, no bitterness. Just two adults facing the reality that is life. And sometimes…relationships don’t work out. The passion fades and resentment rears its ugly head.
“And no matter how many times I have tried to earnestly explain to you why I chose this career path, you will never understand. And I would never try to force you to. But it’s not fair to you, myself, or Sarah to continue this relationship when you will never accept me for who I am, Carmen.”
“You’re right, Joel.” She said quietly, her own tears beginning to brew along her waterline. “I’m so sorry.”
He swallowed the lump growing in his throat and the sob threatening to leave his lips, “I am too.”
There isn’t much left to say as they hug for the last time. She wishes him well in life and he does the same. There’s a new ache in his chest at the thought of him no longer being involved in Sarah’s life anymore. But he believes she’ll be better off without him, too.
And when she leaves his apartment for the last time, taking almost 3 years of memories along with her as the front door clicks shut, and her echoing footsteps down the hall become softer and softer, he lets out the sob he had been suppressing, sinking down to his knees in defeat.
Tears stream down his cheeks as a car horn blares below on the street.
Fuck you, asshole! Get out of the road! The owner of a sleek BMW yells with the window rolled down to a teenager crossing the street on his bike.
30 years old and heartbroken. So much for having his shit together.

Minho’s car purrs softly in the shadows of the dilapidated apartment building, its deep metallic hum resonating against the backdrop of distant city traffic that ebbs and flows like a heartbeat. Inside the vehicle, an electric tension hangs heavy in the air, palpable and suffocating.
Minho's fingers brush against the small button camera discreetly pinned to his shirt, the inconspicuous device melding effortlessly with his dark attire, ready to capture every moment lurking in the dim light of the evening.
“Chan, Changbin, Seungmin, and Hyunjin are at the storage locker now,” Minho mutters, his eyes fixed on the building ahead. “Felix and Jeongin are back at your place with the nanny cam feed set up. Everything’s in position.” Minho flicks his gaze over to Hayun, who’s adjusting the thin strap of her silk green slip dress, the fabric barely reaching mid-thigh. Her white sneakers look almost innocent paired with it.
Jisung leans forward from the back seat, eyes narrowing as he notices the button camera on Minho’s chest. “Damn, they make those things real fucking good now,” he remarks, his voice low. “I can barely see the damn thing.”
Minho offers a tight smile. “Yeah, and if all goes well, he won’t either.”
Hayun takes a deep breath, her fingers trembling slightly as she reaches for the door handle. The weight of what she’s about to do presses heavily on her chest, but she steels herself, swallowing hard. “Let’s just get this over with,” she mutters under her breath.
Before she steps out of the car, Jisung leans forward, his voice serious. “As soon as you want out, we leave, okay?” His eyes are filled with concern, but there’s an edge to his voice, an understanding that this might be the only shot they have.
Hayun nods. “I know. I’ll be fine.”
Minho’s eyes follow her as she steps out of the car, his jaw tight. He watches as she straightens her dress and pulls her face mask up over her mouth, adjusting it carefully before turning toward the building. The dark green silk clings to her in a way that’s meant to draw attention, every step deliberate, calculated. She’s a weapon wrapped in vulnerability, and they all know it.
The three of them walk up the stairs to Mingi’s apartment, the smell of mildew and stale cigarettes clinging to the air. It feels like they’re walking into the belly of the beast. Hayun moves ahead of the guys, her nerves disguised by the sway of her hips, her sneakers squeaking slightly on the worn-out steps.
Jisung’s voice is barely a whisper behind her. “Remember, any second you want out—”
“I know,” Hayun cuts him off, her voice sharp but not unkind. She needs to do this, for herself, for Yuna. She knocks on the door twice, sharp and direct, and then steps back slightly, her heart hammering in her chest.
From out of sight, Jisung and Minho position themselves, staying out of view as planned.
The door creaks open, and there stands Song Mingi, dressed in a loose T-shirt and sweatpants, looking as smug as ever. His eyes land on Hayun, a slow, greasy smile spreading across his face as he leans against the doorframe.
“Well, well, well,” Mingi drawls, his eyes shamelessly dragging over her body. “Little Hayun. You grew up beautifully.”
Hayun pulls her mask down, exposing her face fully as she stares at him with cold, hard eyes. “Minho, Felix, Jeongin, and Jisung said you said ‘hi’ when they came to visit.”
Mingi’s smile doesn’t falter. If anything, it grows wider. “I always had a soft spot for you. Come on in, let’s catch up.”
Before he can make another sleazy remark, Minho and Jisung step into his line of view. The smug look on Mingi’s face vanishes instantly. His eyes widen, but before he can react, Minho lunges forward, grabbing Mingi by the collar and shoving him forcefully into the apartment.
“Inside. Now,” Minho growls, his voice ice cold.
Jisung and Hayun follow quickly, closing the door behind them. Mingi stumbles backward, his arms flailing as Minho forces him into a chair in the middle of the grimy living room. Mingi opens his mouth to protest, but Minho’s grip tightens around the back of his neck, forcing him to stay put.
“The night Yuna disappeared,” Minho begins, his tone deadly calm, “we know you didn’t kill her. Hayun, unfortunately, is your alibi.” He glances toward Hayun, his eyes softening for just a second before they harden again as he focuses back on Mingi. “But we think one of your victims did. So we want names.”
Mingi scoffs, his voice dripping with disdain as he looks at Hayun. “You stupid girl,” he spits. “I told you what would happen if you told anyone about those tapes.”
Jisung steps forward, Minho's phone buzzing in his hand. He glances down, then smirks as he holds it up for Mingi to see. “Chan just confirmed they found the tapes. Storage locker 143, right?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mingi’s eyes widen, panic flashing in them for the first time. He stays silent, but the fear is palpable.
“Now, get talking,” Jisung demands, his voice steady. “Hyunjin found one labelled ‘Shin R.’ Was Yuna’s sister one of your girls?”
Mingi’s smirk falters. “Yeah, Ryujin was one of mine,” he admits, his voice low, calculated. “But she wouldn’t kill her sister. There are hundreds of tapes. You’ll never find out who it was.”
Minho’s patience is running thin. He shoves Mingi harder into the chair, grabbing a fistful of his hair and yanking his head back roughly. “Start writing the names. Now.”
Mingi glares at him, defiance in his eyes, but the threat is clear. Reluctantly, he grabs the notepad and pen that Jisung shoves into his lap.
Minho looms over him, his voice dangerously low. “Get writing before I break your hand.”
As Mingi scribbles furiously, the list grows longer and longer, each name a potential threat, a puzzle piece they didn’t know they were missing. When he’s done, he drops the pen, the notepad falling to the floor.
Minho picks it up, scanning the names. “That’s a long list of people who might want Yuna dead.”
Jisung steps closer, his eyes dark with determination. “We’ll figure it out.”
Mingi leans back in the chair, a sick smile creeping onto his face. “You know,” he says, his voice low and taunting, “solving Yuna’s disappearance, getting me locked up, it won’t fix you, Hayun. You’re still broken.”
Before anyone can react, Minho slams Mingi’s head down against the table with a sickening crack. The sound of his nose breaking echoes through the room as blood begins to pour from Mingi’s face.
“You don’t talk to her,” Minho snaps, his voice filled with barely controlled rage.
Mingi gasps, his hands flying to his nose as he groans in pain, blood dripping down his face and onto the floor.
Hayun stands still, her face unreadable. She doesn’t flinch at the violence, doesn’t say a word as she watches the scene unfold. Jisung stands beside her, his fists clenched, but there’s a glint of satisfaction in his eyes.
Minho leans in close to Mingi’s ear, his voice a dangerous whisper. “You ever say her name again, and I’ll break more than your nose.”
Jisung, Minho, and Hayun turn to leave Mingi's apartment, the air in the room suffocating with the weight of everything that just happened.
Minho wraps his arm around Hayun’s shoulders, pulling her close as they walk toward the door. He presses his nose gently into her hair, inhaling the scent of her shampoo, a silent gesture meant to comfort both her and himself. He’s holding it together, but barely.
They’re almost at the door when Mingi’s voice, dripping with venom, cuts through the air like a jagged knife.
“You Lees do love the fucked-up ones, huh?” Mingi sneers, his voice strained through the pain. “Chaeryeong and Yuna, now you and Hayun. Has she fucked you yet?”
Minho’s body goes rigid, his muscles tensing beneath his shirt. He doesn’t say anything, his jaw clenching hard, but his arm tightens around Hayun protectively.
“I bet she hasn’t,” Mingi continues, laughing bitterly despite the blood dripping from his nose. “I bet you’re too afraid to ask her to be your girlfriend, too scared she’s too traumatized to say yes.”
Minho’s breath hitches, but Hayun just keeps walking, her hand tightening around his. She doesn’t look back, doesn’t give Mingi the satisfaction of a reaction. She knows better than to give him that power, but Minho’s steps falter slightly, his grip on her almost painfully tight now.
“You should thank me, Lee,” Mingi calls after them, the sound of his laughter echoing through the small, dingy apartment. “Broken girls are always freaky.”
It happens in a blur. One second Jisung is standing by the door, trying to leave, the next he’s launching himself at Mingi, tackling him out of the chair. The two of them crash to the floor in a tangle of limbs, Jisung’s fist connecting with Mingi’s face again and again.
“Fucking piece of shit!” Jisung sneers, his voice raw with fury. “Say something like that again, I fucking dare you!”
Mingi’s laughter doesn’t stop, even as blood pours from his split lip. He’s enjoying this. “Come on, hit me harder, little boy,” he taunts, even through the pain. “Bet you’d love to kill me, wouldn’t you?”
Minho and Hayun react instantly, rushing forward to grab Jisung before he does something irreversible. Hayun grabs Jisung’s arm, trying to pull him back, while Minho grabs the back of Jisung’s shirt, yanking him off of Mingi with a force that almost knocks them both over.
“Jisung, stop!” Hayun yells, her voice shaking as she holds onto him with all her strength. Mingi’s laugh cuts through the chaos, and it’s like gasoline on a fire. Jisung lunges again, but Minho wraps his arms around him from behind, holding him in place.
“Get off me!” Jisung shouts, struggling against Minho’s grip. “I’ll fucking kill him!”
Mingi sits up, wiping blood from his mouth with the back of his hand, still smirking. “You should, Jisung. You’d be doing her a favour.”
Before anyone can blink, Minho steps forward, pressing his boot down on Mingi’s throat. Mingi’s eyes go wide, and he gasps, clawing at Minho’s boot, his smirk finally vanishing as his airway is cut off.
Hayun presses her forehead against Jisung’s, brushing her nose against his, her breath mingling with his. It’s the only thing keeping him grounded.
“Look at me,” Hayun whispers, her voice trembling slightly. “I’m okay, Jisung. I swear, I’m okay. Minho’s got it under control.”
Jisung closes his eyes, his chest heaving as he tries to calm down, his fists still shaking with adrenaline. “I would’ve killed him, Yunnie.”
“I know,” she whispers, her voice soothing. “But Minho’s handling it now. Just breathe.”
Meanwhile, Minho presses his boot harder into Mingi’s throat, his face eerily calm. “There’s not going to be a place on this earth you can hide,” Minho says, his voice low and terrifying. “I will hunt you to the ends of the earth if you try to run. Do you hear me?”
Mingi glares up at him, his face turning red as he struggles for air, but he doesn’t answer.
“Do. You. Hear. Me?” Minho’s voice is ice, and he presses down even harder.
Mingi claws at Minho’s boot desperately, choking out a strained, barely audible, “Yes!”
Minho steps back, releasing the pressure on Mingi’s throat, and Mingi gasps for breath, coughing and sputtering on the floor.
Hayun gently pulls Jisung toward the door, her fingers still trembling as she leads him outside. The moment they step into the cool night air, the tension in her body releases slightly. They sit down on the curb together, both of them catching their breath.
Jisung leans forward, burying his face in his hands. “I’d have killed him,” he mutters, his voice muffled by his hands.
“I know,” Hayun says softly, her voice steady even though her heart is still racing. “And I think if Minho hadn’t been there... I wouldn’t have stopped you.”
Jisung lifts his head, his eyes red and filled with anger. “Why are we even trying to get justice for Yuna anymore? She was a piece of shit.”
Hayun sighs, leaning back against the curb as she stares up at the dark sky. “It’s not really about Yuna anymore,” she admits, her voice quiet. “It’s about figuring out who killed Chaeryeong. For Minho. He needs to know who killed his sister, who framed her for Yuna’s murder, who faked her suicide. He needs to know all of it.”
Jisung’s hands tighten into fists again, though this time, the rage is different. It’s quieter, more controlled. “You’re right. This isn’t about Yuna. Fuck her. But Minho, he needs this.”
Hayun nods, her gaze distant as she watches the headlights of a passing car reflect off the wet pavement. “We all need this, Ji. We need to put this shit to rest, or it’ll kill us.”
Jisung takes a deep breath, his voice calmer now. “And what about you? Do you need this too?”
Hayun’s eyes meet his, and for a moment, she doesn’t know what to say. But then she nods, her voice barely above a whisper. “Yeah. I need this. I need to know it wasn’t all for nothing.”
They sit there in silence for a long moment, the weight of everything hanging between them. Finally, Jisung reaches over, grabbing her hand and squeezing it tightly. “We’ll figure it out. Together.”
Hayun squeezes his hand back, a small, tired smile tugging at her lips. “Yeah. Together.”

Inside the apartment, Minho crouches down next to Mingi, his eyes dark with a cold fury that’s barely restrained. He grips Mingi’s chin tightly, forcing the man to meet his gaze, his voice low and dripping with malice.
“You ever—" Minho’s breath comes out in a controlled whisper, though every word cuts like a knife, "and I mean ever, so much as look at Hayun again, and I’ll kill you. And trust me, I’ve got an army of people who’d help me get away with it. You understand?"
Mingi wheezes, his eyes narrowing in a sick grin as he gasps for air. His voice is raspy but filled with cruel satisfaction. "She’ll never love you like a normal girl, you know that, right?"
Minho’s grip tightens on Mingi’s face, his fingers digging into the man’s skin, but his expression remains icy and composed. "So?" Minho scoffs, the corners of his lips twitching upward into a dangerous smirk. "You think just because you raped her, she can’t love someone? You’re fucking wrong." His voice hardens, his words like venom. "She kept your secret for years because she loved Jisung so much she didn’t want him to hate his sister."
Mingi’s eyes glint with malice, the grin never leaving his face. "What if she never tells you she loves you?" he rasps, his voice dripping with condescension.
Minho leans in closer, their faces inches apart, his voice calm but filled with a dark certainty. "She doesn’t need to tell me shit. Her eyes… her eyes are the windows to her soul, and I know she feels for me what I feel for her. She doesn’t need to say the words for me to know. You don’t understand that kind of connection because you’ve never had it."
Mingi’s laugh is weak, but he keeps pushing. "And yet… she’s not your girlfriend." His grin widens, though it’s shaky, testing Minho’s limits.
Minho’s smile is thin, more like a baring of teeth, as he releases Mingi’s chin and stands up, towering over him. "That’s because I want to do it properly, Mingi. I’m not a disgusting piece of shit like you. I don’t want to rush her. I don’t want to destroy her life" Minho’s voice grows colder, more dangerous, as he looks down at Mingi like he’s nothing more than a roach beneath his boot.
"You didn’t break her, Mingi. You made her your downfall. You made her build a mask so indestructible that even you couldn’t break it. And now she is the reason your end is coming. You made her your downfall"
Mingi’s grin falters, the first sign of real fear flashing across his face, but he tries to hold onto his arrogance. "I always come out on top," he sneers, though his voice is weaker now.
Minho chuckles darkly, a sound that sends a chill through the air. "In prison?" he says, his eyes gleaming with a twisted satisfaction. "You’ll be a bottom, Mingi. You’ll get a taste of what you did to all those girls. But here’s the thing, you won’t be drugged up. You’ll remember every detail. Every second of it. You’ll know exactly what you put hundreds of girls through." Minho leans down again, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "I’ll make sure the men in whatever prison you end up in know what you did. You know what they do to monsters like you in there, don’t you? Maybe they’ll even tape it."
Mingi stares at Minho, real fear finally settling in his eyes. His breath comes out in shallow gasps, and he doesn’t have anything clever to say this time. He knows Minho’s serious.
Minho’s grin spreads, a flash of something almost unhinged in his eyes. "Now you’re scared, huh?" he taunts, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "Good. I want you to remember something when you’re rotting in your cell, getting what’s coming to you every single day. Your youngest victim, that child, grew up. And she’s the reason you’re going to prison. Hayun put you in there. She orchestrated all of this, Mingi. She’s the reason our friends raided your storage locker, and the cops are on their way right now."
Mingi's face pales as he realizes the gravity of his situation. The smug confidence he’d carried all this time begins to crack, replaced by something that looks a lot like terror.
Minho doesn’t stop. He’s enjoying watching Mingi’s world collapse around him. "When you’re sitting in your four-by-four cell, being someone’s bitch, I want you to think about that. Think about how Hayun, your youngest victim, became the one who orchestrated your downfall. It’s fucking karmic, isn’t it?"
He taps the small camera button on his shirt, the one recording everything. "Smile for the camera, Mingi," Minho says, his voice sharp with satisfaction. "You’re going to be famous and then you’re going to be someone’s bitch. And this time, no one’s coming to save you."
Mingi glares up at Minho, but he’s trembling now. The bravado is gone, replaced by the crushing realization that his time is up.
Minho straightens up, casting one last look of disgust down at Mingi before turning and walking toward the door. He doesn’t say another word as he steps out of the apartment, leaving Mingi gasping for breath on the floor.
Minho steps out of the apartment, the weight of everything that just happened pressing on his chest, but when his eyes land on Hayun sitting on the curb, everything else fades away. Without a second thought, he strides toward her, grabbing her hand and pulling her up into his arms. He wraps her tightly against him, his forehead pressing against hers. The familiar warmth of her skin grounds him, calms the storm still raging inside his head.
Jisung, standing a few feet away, immediately averts his gaze, giving them space. He doesn’t say anything, just shoves his hands in his pockets and stares at the ground, letting them have this moment.
Minho’s voice comes out soft, gentle, but there’s a fierceness in his words. “He’s done, princess. He can’t hurt you anymore, okay? The police will handle everything now, and he’ll rot in prison. He’ll fucking suffer.”
Hayun closes her eyes for a moment, letting his words sink in, her breath steadying in his arms. “Good,” she whispers, her voice quiet but resolute. “He deserves to suffer.”
Minho pulls back just enough to look into her eyes, his hand coming up to cup the side of her face. “Now, we figure out who killed Yuna,” he says, his voice firmer, more determined. “And who killed my sister. We’re not stopping until we get answers.”
Hayun nods, her eyes meeting his with a fierce determination of her own. “We won’t stop,” she agrees softly. “Not until we know everything.”
Jisung steps forward then, shaking off the heaviness that’s been clinging to the night. He claps Minho on the shoulder, his voice a little lighter now, though still laced with exhaustion. “But right now,” he says, a hint of a grin tugging at his lips, “we celebrate a fucking win, okay? We’ve not had many of those, and this one? This one’s a big fucking deal.”
Minho chuckles softly, his arm still wrapped around Hayun, pulling her in closer. “Yeah,” he agrees. “We fucking earned this one.”
Hayun glances between the two of them, her lips twitching into a small smile. “You guys celebrate,” she says, stepping back slightly, her tone suddenly more thoughtful. “I’ll meet up with you later, okay? There’s… there’s someone I need to see.”
Minho raises an eyebrow, concern flickering across his face. “Who?” he asks, his voice low but cautious.
“I’ll tell you later,” Hayun replies, her tone gentle but firm. “I just… I need to do this on my own.”
Jisung narrows his eyes but nods after a moment. “Alright,” he says, though his voice is tinged with curiosity. “Just be careful, Yunnie.”
Hayun gives him a small nod, then turns back to Minho, meeting his gaze. He studies her for a long moment, searching her face for any sign of hesitation, but he doesn’t find any. Finally, he nods as well.
“Call us if you need anything,” Minho says quietly. “We’ve got your back, no matter what.”
Hayun smiles, a little more genuine this time, and reaches out to squeeze his hand. “I know,” she says softly. “I always know.”
With that, she steps back, turning away from the curb as she heads off down the street, her mind already turning toward her next move. Minho watches her go, his heart tight in his chest, but he doesn’t stop her. He knows she needs this, whatever it is, just as much as they needed the victory tonight.
Jisung steps closer to Minho once Hayun disappears from sight, letting out a long breath. “You think she’s okay?” he asks, his voice quieter now, laced with worry.
Minho glances down the street where Hayun had just been, his jaw clenched. “She will be,” he says, though he sounds like he’s trying to convince himself more than anyone. “She’s stronger than any of us give her credit for.”
Jisung nods slowly, but there’s still a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. “I just hope she’s not walking into something we can’t help her with.”
Minho doesn’t respond right away. Instead, he takes a deep breath, letting the cool night air fill his lungs before he speaks again. “Whatever it is,” he says softly, “she’ll tell us when she’s ready. And when she does, we’ll be there.”
Jisung gives him a tight-lipped smile, his usual playful demeanor gone, replaced by something more serious, more resolute. “Yeah,” he agrees quietly. “We always will be.”
The two of them stand there for a moment longer, the weight of the night still heavy on their shoulders, but beneath it all, there’s a sense of something else. Hope, maybe. A small victory in a war that’s far from over.

A Little Death
Pairing| Ghost x F!Reader Rating| M Word Count| 7k Kinks/Content/Warnings| The author has decided she can't be assed to edit this, Chubby!Reader, Kidnapping, nondescript mentions of torture. Ambiguous mentions of S/A (vague enough you can chose to ignore that part if you want tbh), Reader is traumatized from her ordeal but working through it. Fingering, PiV, riding, squirting, Simon has a moment where he's worried he triggered reader after sex but that is an incorrect assumption on his part.
Tumblr media
On days like this Simon can almost pretend he’s normal.
The game’s on, a beer in one hand while the other has been commandeered by his girlfriend with a simple “Gimmie.”
Simon has never been one to worry about his nails beyond clipping them for practicality’s sake.
Having a SAS lieutenant for a boyfriend means she deals with what she insists is Simon’s paranoia and he insists is a healthy level of suspicion about the outside world. Having a nail technician for a girlfriend means every so often she’ll commandeer his hands to ensure they’re up to her standards. As it turned out, adhering to regulations wasn’t up to par for her.
His neighbor is a popular woman.
It sets him on edge, all the traffic. One or two people at a time, usually other women- sometimes with a man in tow, other times not. They show up, they stay for maybe an hour or maybe 4, and they leave. Within 30 minutes someone else is knocking on her door.
Normal men humor their partners about things they don’t particularly give a fuck about when left to their own devices, as an acknowledgment of its importance to them.
And so he sits, beer in one hand as she works on the other. Once she’s finished she gathers up the towel that acts as a catch for the various clips and trimmings before making her move to switch sides, Simon easily acquiescing to her whim.
“I’m not keeping you up, am I?” She asks one night. Music plays lowly from a laptop on her patio as he steps onto his for a smoke break. Just because he’s got his vice doesn’t mean he wants the whole flat smelling like it.
“Don’t sleep much anyway, pet. Bit of music won’t change that one way or another.”
Despite his insistence that he’s merely humoring her, he soaks up the attention she readily gives him. When she’s done and tidied after herself she returns with a small bottle of lotion.
He’s got one arm wrapped around her shoulders, pressing a chaste kiss to the top of her head as she massages his hand. If he plays his cards right tonight he can probably get her to soothe some of the aches and stiff muscles that always plague him. For now he melts as she seems to know exactly what points to hit in his palm and forearm.
It’s domestic and normal and Simon can almost ignore the burner phone he keeps on him at all times.
It goes off at 5am on a Sunday, Simon already awake and having been watching the ceiling fan since 4:30. He can’t fall back asleep but can’t bring himself to separate from her.
She burrows further into his chest as his shifting disrupts her. He’s fairly certain she would crawl inside his ribcage if she could, curl up right next to his heart and never leave.
Simon would gladly let her.
She’s a nail technician, he comes to learn. Sure as shit, he eventually memorizes the traffic that comes and goes on a roughly two week interval. Some of them are steadfast in their appointments. 2 o clock every other Thursday. 4 o clock every other Friday. Others not so much- they come around frequently but the days and times are random after the 14 day mark.
The familiarity of some of the faces takes him slightly less on edge. He will never relax, not truly, but it settles him down now that he knows the pattern.
It also explains why her hands have two completely different designs on each one. Color, pattern, the shape of the nails. Her left and right hand look like they belong to two different people.
Simon doesn’t use social media, for obvious reasons. His little neighbor has formed an entire career for herself based off of it.
But the phone buzzes on the nightstand, an omniscient presence that always hovers heavy in the air.
“Price?” Is all he gives for a greeting. Trying to keep his words short and concise. He doesn’t want to wake her, still under the lull she draws him into without trying.
He keeps his work and his personal life separate with no intention of ever melding the two.
“Laswell’s got intel. We meet in 2 days, back on base at 06:00.”
He is about to respond, both an acknowledgment and a hopeful end to the conversation, when she stretches next to him with a groan of protest at being awoken so early.
“Tell your other girlfriend I said hi,” she grumbles, already knowing it’s Price on the phone and that the clock is officially counting down on the time they have left together.
“You know at a certain point I'm going to just decide you’ve got a whole secret life with a wife and kids and a picket fence.”
He doesn’t want his work to ever follow him home. Not to her. He keeps them strictly separate. She knows he’s military- specifically SAS- and that he works in counter terrorism and that’s about all he’s willing to tell. She doesn’t need to know details. And more importantly the details don’t ever need to know about her.
His past missions have haunted him in the worst way possible. He’s finally rebuilt something for himself as the ghost of a dead man, and doesn’t want anything to ever tarnish what he’s found.
He can’t entirely blame her. It takes a leap of faith to accept the little he offers her. What does he have? A dead man’s name and most likely a violent end waiting for him.
Eventually he does offer a small peace offering. Price is enough to settle the concerns that she hides as jokes. Provides enough credibility that she can let go of the concern that he’s living a double life.
Well, he is. But not the kind that nags at her.
Price knows her; Gaz and Soap know that he’s got someone waiting for him at home, but Simon is already at his limit of how much intermingling he can handle. They’re both compromising, both making allowances for their comfort levels for the sake of the other. But he has to draw the line somewhere.
If Simon had his way Gaz and Soap would be none the wiser, but a night of frantic coupling before he’d left had Simon bearing marks that are incredibly obvious in the changing room.
“Steamin’ Jesus L.T.! You get jumped by a wildcat?” The chortle from the Scot makes it obvious that Johnny is yet again not afraid to push Simon’s buttons.
There’s no denying what they are, nor how he got them. Neither Soap nor Gaz are stupid.
Long, red scratch marks criss cross the broad expanse of his scarred back. He certainly hadn’t complained when his lovely girl had left her mark on him- those nails dragging across his skin had only encouraged him as his hips clapped wetly against hers, hands gripping her knees as he pressed them to her shoulders.
Most nights he is soft and gentle and strokes her skin while his lips press either in her hair or the soft expanse of her neck. He doesn’t roughhouse her tonight, but the knowledge he’ll be gone for weeks and tonight is their last together for the foreseeable future?
Well, the pair of them are a bit amped about the impending separation. It’s a good thing neither of them are particularly known for their good sleeping habits, because there’s not a lot of that usually happening on the nights before Simon leaves.
Leaving without waking her up is an impossible task but he tries anyway.
Whereas Simon finds sleep difficult to achieve and eventually sleeps like the dead once he finds it, she drifts readily enough but will wake at the drop of a hat.
Usually she’ll settle soon after. Eyes following his form in the dark, waiting expectantly for him to come back after he dresses to kiss her goodbye.
They carve out a routine for themselves. One for when Simon is home, and one for when he’s preparing to walk out the door until eventually coming back through it.
His therapist is equal parts shocked and pleased to hear that Simon is taking the leap and opening himself up emotionally to someone.
His therapist is less pleased about the way he simply buries himself in her life when he’s on leave.
Simon is nothing- has nothing- when he is not acting in the line of duty. He is a dead man with nothing to his name and no one who gives a fuck if he ever walks back through the door that isn’t tied to his military career.
He thrives on the stability and schedule on base. On the simplicity of nights spent out on the field. Wake up, piss, dont die, go to sleep. Wake up, repeat.
Some days the only thing keeping him from trying to end it all (again, he bitterly acknowledges) when he’s gotten too far into a bottle of bourbon is his therapist and the thought of his team’s face at the news.
Until, at least, he meets her.
The mission is brief but successful. Simon is pleased.
The deepest of the scratch marks has just finished healing and he’s already missing the sensation of her nails dragging against his skin- and he’s not picky about the context, either.
There have been plenty of nights he’s fallen asleep with his face buried in her chest with one of her hands scratching gently at his scalp and the other tracing in broad strokes across his back.
Of course those nails also feel divine scratching at his abdomen while she is on her knees for him.
There’s a process he goes through when he gets home. It lets him shed the mantle of Ghost- to calm down as much as he’s able and be better equipped to deal with civilian life. Helps him give her the illusion that she is with a normal man who’s not holding onto himself with a death grip, desperately trying to keep the pieces together.
He feels fine when he leaves base and heads home. Everything is normal.
Until he turns the corner and sees the door ajar.
Fear runs ice cold in his veins, hackles raised and on guard.
I’m just being paranoid, he tries to self soothe as he steps towards the door. She tells me all the time.
Course, it was one thing when he gripes about how she answers the door without looking to see who it is. She doesn’t leave the fucking door open.
“Wish you’d at least look at the peep hole before just opening the bloody door,” he grouses into her hair, pulling her in so she’s tucked up to his side.
“If I’m expecting someone to come at 3 and there’s a knock at 3, I already know who it is, Si.”
There are times when he is grateful that she has, by comparison, lived a life where she thinks he is paranoid and needlessly worries. She hasn’t had the experiences he has, and he doesn’t wish that upon her. He’s grateful with the knowledge that every time he’s sent out, thus far, that she’s been tucked away safe and sound until he returns.
But of course the other shoe was always going to drop eventually.
“Price?” Simon doesn’t know who else to call.
He’s standing in the middle of his flat, evidence of an altercation scattered around the living room.
She put up a fight if the state of the flat is anything to go by. He wants to be proud of that at least, use it as hope-
He just feels hollow.
A group the 141 has dealt with prior are the ones all the signs point to. They wanted the team’s attention and by God they fucking got it.
Simon doesn’t understand how they found she has any ties to him. He’s so careful- keeps her tucked away and hidden from any potential cross over with his work.
The next few days are a blur and Simon’s mental health has seen better days.
He resigns himself, even when Laswell gets a hit and the 141 are loaded into a helo, to the fact that at best this will be a body retrieval mission.
Even as Soap gives a reassuring knock into his shoulder- we’ll get her back, LT- as confident as ever.
His sweet girl is dead, just like every other person Simon has ever cared about.
He doesn’t understand what he’s done to deserve losing them all. The only ones he has left are his team, and that’s a tenuous state at best. His family was good. They were normal people with normal lives. She is good and a normal person.
Her only sin is being foolish enough to love him.
Some time between getting on the bird and offloading, Simon forces the thoughts in a corner and blocks them off.
Simon, the terrified boyfriend, gives way to Ghost so he can get through this in one piece. He just wants to find her, bring her home and bury her body. He’s numb to anything beyond the scope of the plan he’s formed in his mind.
It’s laughably easy. A fringe group the 141 has had altercations with- she’s not exactly a high profile prisoner. They just wanted to fuck with Simon.
There’s no satisfaction or vindication as they clear the building floor by floor.
He feels nothing.
The further they venture into the building with no sign of her, the pit in his stomach sinks just as far. There’s no sign of anything concrete or anywhere they’d keep a prisoner.
And then there, in a corner of a hallway, Ghost spots it-
An acrylic nail lying broken on the ground, dried blood clotted on the tips.
For the first time in days, Simon feels something.
It’s not hope. He doesn’t dare hope.
But it’s confirmation that she has, at some point, been in the building.
It’s also confirmation that she gave it a fighting chance.
She’s a civilian- nothing much she can do against professional criminals. But she tried and Simon has to find something in that.
They split into pairs down a hallway clearing rooms. Every door that opens only to not have her in it is like a knife that keeps twisting in his abdomen.
Just let him have this one thing.
It’s just as Ghost and Soap have called out clear on another room that he hears Price’s voice call to him down the hall.
There’s only one reason Price would be calling for him specifically.
As he approaches he can hear the captain again, softer this time. Can’t make out what he’s saying but everything feels slow; like he’s moving under water.
As his mind prepares him for every horrific potential image waiting for him beyond the threshold of the door- there’s nothing that prepares him for what he sees.
She’s alive.
Wide eyed and panicked, which is to be expected all things considered, but she’s here and she’s breathing.
Simon forgets himself entirely. He swings wildly from feeling nothing to feeling everything and it bubbles up all at once as he barrels towards her.
He forgets that while she knows Simon is SAS she knows nothing of Ghost. Simon works in counter terrorism, yes, but she knows nothing about the mask.
So after being kidnapped and going through God-knows-what in her absence, she’s got no fucking clue the 6’4 fucker with the skull mask gunning for her is her boyfriend.
The sharp, croaked “Stay the fuck away from me!” doesn’t cut but it does jog his memory enough to know she’s absolutely terrified.
Again there’s that part of him that is proud of her. After everything she’s been through even if she wouldn’t stand a chance in an actual altercation- She’s not huddled in the corner. She looks willing to fight him, until Simon rips the mask off his face. “It’s me, love! It’s me.”
“Simon? What the fuck is that?!”
Rather than scrambling to get away she turns to launch herself at him, a tangle of limbs as they cling to each other and reassure themselves that yes this is real and yes the other is there. That this fucking nightmare is over.
Simon buries his nose in her hair- was so certain he’d be bringing her home in a body bag he almost doesn’t know what to do with himself. She’s shaking in his grip, sobs ripping through her as he shushes her gently and murmurs “It’s alright, love. I’ve got you now.”
“As much as I love a good reunion- we need to get going, Ghost.” Price is ever the voice of reason, because Simon’s head is not in the game right now.
He wants to cling to her and never let her go- he needs to pull his head out of his ass.
Price isn’t wrong. As much as he has to fight off the impulse to tuck her against his side and keep her there, they have shit to do.
He won’t truly be able to relax until she’s safely stowed on the helo and they’re on their way back.
It’s a bit easier once he puts the mask on. His brain is trained to focus on work and not let his personal life muddy the waters. Where Simon can’t help but falter, Ghost is dauntless.
Simon can barely string a thought together now that he has her back in his arms. Simon still cannot believe she’s alive and breathing even after touching, smelling and hearing her.
But Ghost can focus on getting her to the helo.
Everything is a blur as Price and Gaz lead with Soap bringing up the rear.
Ghost can’t quite decide where he wants her- keeps alternating between keeping her behind him in the event they get blindsided, that he’ll take any hits that go past Price or Gaz, or getting her in front of him so he can keep an eye on her, and there’s two SAS soldiers in front of her and two behind.
The hostiles in the building wanted the 141’s attention. Mission fucking accomplished.
The ones they chance across are dropped with ease. Simon is no stranger to returning to a location and making his point. Right now he’s got bigger concerns to be worried about.
A knot of anxiety lodges itself on his ribcage as they move through the building that doesn’t unwind until he’s got her strapped to her seat in the helo.
For the first time in days he can breathe. The knot slowly untangles as they ascend.
It finally settles in for both of them that she is out and she is safe. She’s been quiet the whole trek to the helo but Price, Soap, and Gaz have been on enough hostage recovery missions to not be caught off guard as she bursts into tears and buries her face in Ghost’s vest.
It’s finally safe for her to do so, the adrenaline wearing off as she sobs.
For the most part the other three men try to avert their eyes and not intrude.
Simon’s always been reserved about his life off base and watching him soothe his partner is bordering too personal for the others to witness.
It comes and goes in waves; Simon will settle her down, crooning quietly in her ear too low for the others to hear. She’ll stifle her tears for a bit as he soothes her. They go straight to medical after landing to have her looked at. She starts up again while waiting for the nurse to come back, trying to apologize to Simon through choked sobs.
He won’t hear it, softly but firmly brushing her apologies to the side and assuring her everything’s fine now, love. No need to apologize.
He feels physically ill when the nurse delicately asks if she needs a rape kit or screenings done.
The rest of the 141 gives them a wide berth- which is a marked accomplishment because all too often Soap and Gaz are trailing behind him and finding some sort of shenanigans to get up to. Simon is perfectly content with the arrangement. He wants to focus his attention on her and that’s easier to do without the sergeants under foot.
His room on base is much like his entire apartment was before she moved in.
It’s 3am, Simon needs to take a piss and as he’s doing so, he’s not-quite eye level with a sign that says
“★★★★★ -
Would poop here again”
He’s got no idea when or where she found that, let alone put it up, but rolls his eyes good naturedly as he tucks himself away.
Normal people have bathroom decor.
Simon can appreciate a bit or a joke as much as the next person- but while this space is his it’s not something he’s ever felt the need to decorate. It’s a bed for him to crash on in between missions or if he’s too bloody exhausted to safely make the trek home.
There’s only one piece of any sort of personal touch to the room- a framed photo of her.
Simon intends to see her through the next few days- they’ll head home in the morning and realistically there’s only so long John can hold off on calling the boys in again. But the captain says he’ll do what he can to keep Simon home while they settle back in. He’s been due for some leave anyway.
He doesn’t sleep the first night. She swings drastically between being knocked out and jolting awake screaming and crying. Even once she’s gotten over the initial shock of her rescue it still takes time for her nervous system to calm down.
“I’ve got you, love- you’re safe here” he murmurs into her ear as she trembles like a leaf. “We’ll be home soon, yeah? You’ll feel better once you’re in our bed.”
The question is twofold- it is to soothe her, and also to gauge her reaction to the prospect of going home. Simon won’t hesitate to set the flat ablaze if it makes her feel better.
Start fresh.
For now she seems to sleep better if he’s got her pinned up against the wall- the bulk of him a physical barrier to anything that might enter the room.
He’s always slept between her and the door so that’s no hardship- it just takes time to realize she feels safer trapped between him and the wall.
They make it through the first night in one piece, although the next morning she will not stop chewing on her nails. With someone else, he wouldn’t necessarily be surprised- but she’s never been a nail biter.
It dawns on him, as she sits on the couch and bursts into tears, that she wants the nails (or at least the ones that survived the ordeal) off, and is winding herself up too much to take them off the way she knows she should.
Simon goes to her office; he’s watched her enough that he knows the steps and the materials she’ll need, gathering them up before coaxing her to the table.
There’s no interest in redoing them but Simon manages to get the current sets off of her so she doesn’t damage her nail beds- assuming she stops chewing on them (which she does).
Over the next few days he lets her set the pace. She’s jumpy at home and calmer when he takes her out to run errands or just to stretch their legs.
Maybe he will propose moving sooner rather than later. Their building is a shithole anyway.
He puts her in therapy after a week. It’s the only time he’s away from her. Realistically he knows it’s not good to have her so used to always being within arms length or eyesight of him- it’s not sustainable when eventually he will be called back in. But he has no qualms for the coddling he subjects her to while he’s able to. She’s quiet and comfortable with his hovering in a way she’d never tolerate before she was abducted- he figures he’ll know when she’s feeling a bit like herself again when she starts complaining about him not giving her any space.
Knowing she’s got the therapist gives him some security on how she’ll mentally cope when eventually he needs to leave again.
Her bursting into tears occurs less frequently. If Simon has to pry himself away from her to take a piss in the middle of the night she’s not up, back ramrod straight and waiting for him to come back with wet, teary eyes.
As the days tick on, bleeding into months later, Simon idly acknowledges that-short of when he’s on deployment- this is the longest they’ve gone without having sex. There’s nothing else that goes with that acknowledgement- he’s far more concerned with her well being than he is getting his kicks. He’s just taking stock of all their ‘normals’ and prior to her abduction they’d had quite the active sex life.
It’s one day as they’re watching a movie that it’s apparent Simon isn’t the only one aware of their dry spell.
They’re laying on the couch, her back pressed against his front with one of his heavy arms draped across her rib cage to keep her snuggled up against him as they watch the screen in front.
At first he thinks that she’s repositioning- thinks nothing of it and lifts his arm just enough to allow her the freedom to wiggle to a more comfortable spot. She keeps wiggling though and Simon is trying to keep his mind off the sensation of her arse grinding into his groin. Trying to ignore the way his dick twitches in interest, because- God help him- he's not dead and the love of his life is grinding her arse on him. Bodies are going to do what bodies do, and he can feel himself stiffening in response.
“Sweetheart, you need to sit still,” he whispers the plea into her ear.
Her head tilts back towards him and lust jolts through his body at the look in her eyes while she still continues to grind against him.
“I miss you, Simon,” and given how he is rarely further than grabbing distance from her, there’s very few other ways to interpret what exactly it is that she is missing.
He’s a goner when she gives him that wide, doe eyed expression paired with the prettiest “Please?” he’s ever heard in his life.
One moment they’re quiet and content laying on their sides on the couch- the next Simon’s gripping her arm and pulling her on top of him as he settles onto his back. She follows his lead and moves so her weight is settled on his hips as his hands grip hers.
It is no hardship on his end to wait for her- the patience never truly even registered in his brain. She can have as much time as she needs and Simon will give it to her gladly.
But his pretty girl batting her eyes at him and pleading softly for him? His patience isn’t the only thing he’s willing to give her.
“Are you sure?” He doesn’t mean to second guess her or make her question herself but he does want to make sure that she’s not acting on obligation.
“Yes, Simon- Please,” and who is he to deny her?
His hands are on her immediately- pulling her towards him and encouraging her to grind, knowing her sweet clit will light up at the friction of her soft panties dragging across the rough material of his jeans.
His lips find hers, separating only briefly as he hauls her dress up and over her head, happily discarding the material in a heap on the floor.
His hands grip her hips, Simon relaxing into the couch while his fingers dug into the pillow soft skin perching above him. He’s straining against the fabric of his jeans- knows the tip of his erection is leaking clear pre and it’s not just going to be her being the reason the fabric has a wet spot.
The couch is certainly not the worst place to be, his beautiful girlfriend’s tits in his face as she grinds down in his lap with little hitching breaths.
“Just like that, pretty,” he encourages, kissing down her jawbone, the length of her neck and across her collar bone before happily mouthing at her breasts which are blessedly right in his face.
Simon groans in pleasure as he teases one nipple, her sweet mewls and the grip on his hair only spurring him on.
Grabbing a handful of her plush arse, he groans in anticipation while switching from one breast to the other.
It’s been a fair while since his back has been shredded by her nails and he can’t wait to feel the bite of them dragging down the length of his spine.
“Lift up, sweetheart,” he instructs, somewhat loath to release her plump bottom but eager to get her dripping for him.
She pulls up enough for him to slip one hand between her legs. Exploring fingers are quick to spread her wetness, dipping between her folds and dragging back up to circle her clit softly.
“Fuck- Simon!” she whines in his ear.
He knows enough by now what makes her tick. Once she’s all warmed up and ready to roll, that sweet cunt of hers could take a thrashing. But warming up involves feather-light touches to get her squirming and squealing for him.
“Feels good, pretty?” he asks despite knowing the answer in the way her arms wrap around his neck and she sags against him, hips twitching as she lets him tease her.
“Ye-yeah,” she murmurs, and presses her lips against his neck as he takes another pass- finger pulling away from her clit just to draw shivers from her as he traces back down her folds and presses ever so lightly against the entrance on her- just to the first knuckle- and making his way back to tease her clit.
Each pass has her rocking her hips more as he slips more of his finger inside, eventually adding a second that has her mewling and squirming in his lap.
He’s going to have one hell of a hickey from how she’s sucking on his neck, but Simon can’t bring himself to care. Not when his ears are graced with the delightful little noises she makes- whimpers of protest as he pulls his fingers out of her, the shaky inhales as he circles her clit and the trembling moan when he once again slides his fingers inside of her to give a few pointed strokes to her g-spot just to get her shivering and blinking up at him with lust-blown eyes.
“Fuck you’re wet,” there’s absolutely zero resistance now, even when he slides a third finger inside her.
“Please,” she mewls into his skin, hips rocking in time with the thrust of his fingers into her.
“What do you want, sweetheart? Use your words.” He’s always found her an absolute delight to tease- she gets so flustered and stares at him with that doe eyed, betrayed look- how dare he make her ask for anything when it’s obvious what she wants.
“Please let me cum,” she pants as her eyes screw up in pleasure while his fingers trace and circle her clit for several passes.
“You wanna cum, love?” His tone is just a bit too soft to be a mocking tease despite the way she glares at him. Spoiled little thing so easily sliding back into her old habits.
“I’m going to bite you,” she grumbles in bemused annoyance, brows furrowing as she tries to follow his hand while teasing her.
He doesn’t doubt his little viper for a second, mollifying her displeasure with three fingers digging for that spot that makes her see stars.
“Oh~,” she mewls against him as he stokes the fires of her orgasm with a vengeance. He doesn’t stop, angling his hand so his thumb can stroke against her clit and enjoying the way she trembles against him like a leaf caught in a windstorm.
“That the spot, hm? Right there, innit?” He rumbles low in her ear, a satisfied smirk on his face as she nods in a big sweeping motion against his neck. “Come on, pretty. You wanna cum so badly? Do it.” he baits.
Mission accomplished.
Fuck he’ll remember the vision of her crying and cumming and trembling in his hold, soaking his forearm and abdomen as she squirts, for the rest of his days. His free hand runs soothingly down her back for a few passes before pulling both hands away from her.
She’s immediately whining against him, upset at having his touch taken away. “Simon, please-”
He shushes her with a kiss to her temple, “I know what you need, sweetheart,” he murmurs while deftly undoing his pants and freeing his cock.
It only takes a few strokes, already straining and ready to perform, before they’re shuffling as he pulls and maneuvers her so she’s hovering above him and Oh fuck has Simon missed this as she sinks down on him.
It always takes a couple attempts- he’s not a small man, and doesn’t want to risk injury. Not to mention there’s just something fucking delicious about only giving her a few inches, pulling back and feeding her just a few more. Slow, short, steady thrusts that get deeper bit by bit, having Simon ready to melt into the couch at the bliss of being buried in her by the time she sinks all of her weight onto him, her groin pressing against his.
She’s so fucking warm and wet, clinging to him as she shuffles to get good leverage on top of him to bounce.
Bloody fucking hell does she feel good. “That’s it, pretty. Take it all,” he encourages her while she whimpers above him- if he angles himself just right he can grind her clit against him in a way that has her sucking down air and shivering.
She’s so good for him but he knows there’s only so long she can bounce in his lap- even resting on one knee on the couch and her other foot on the floor so she can shift her weight and give leg a break every now and then, Simon throwing his head back and groaning loudly.
It’s one of the only times he’s particularly verbose- Usually content to be silent and broody unless he has a specific question in mind, the bedroom (or in this case the living room) is the one place where he is a chatterbox. The mouth on him is surreal at times, and while one would think his sweet girl would be use to the filth every now and then he’ll catch her off guard with some particularly out of pocket comment.
For now though, he’s a bit reserved- doesn’t want to go from zero to a hundred out of nowhere.
No, for now his attention is focused on the goddess bouncing on his cock, wondering if he can get her to squirt a second time if he just- he shifts underneath her, changing the angle and fucking hell does that seem to do the trick for her. Swiping one of his thumbs across his tongue before pressing it to her clit and circling again, Simon can’t help the smug look on his face when she squeals. “Just like that, sweetheart. Fuck,” he grunts as he thrusts up into her. From how those pretty thighs are trembling, her legs are about to give out as he fucks into her.
“Simon!” She’s yelping his name with glassy eyes and a clenching cunt “Fuck- Simon! Please-”
She doesn’t have the energy to get herself back up again- poor thing, her thighs must be burning, and he can’t help but be a cocky fuck about the fact that she loves riding his dick to the point that she physically can’t keep going.
“On your back, sweetheart,” he instructs with a light swat to her ass- appreciating the way her body jiggles at the impact.
His sweet girl has done so well and worked so hard, it’s only right that he rewards her. Once she’s on her back he grips her under her knees and folds her legs back- gives himself room between those gorgeous thighs.
“Fuck, baby- please don’t stop,” she pants underneath him, back arching in pleasure as his mouth drops to her breasts again. Her arms wrap loosely around his neck, and he twitches in anticipation at the feel of her nails tracing ever so lightly against his back.
“Not gonna stop, pretty girl.” he groans against her skin, alternating between which nipple he has between his teeth.
Fuck she’s clenching down on him like a vice. He knows she’s getting close; squirming in his grip, keeping her legs nice and spread for him. The feel of her nails reaching down his back and dragging up his spine pulls a groan that would be embarrassing if Simon could find it within himself to care in the slightest. The slight pain encourages him as he cants against her.
“Simon!” The sound of his hips knocking into the back of her thighs is loud and messy. Fuck he’s such a goner when she looks up at him with that sweet expression on her face- pure adoration and wonder in her eyes.
“Just like that, sweetheart. Fucking hell, love,” he grunts out, a second wind reinvigorating him when she starts shaking. Those plush thighs shaking in his hold as he knocks the sense out of her pretty head, he’s so fucking close he can taste it but is determined to get her across the finish line first.
“Such a good fucking girl,” he purrs in her ear, “You feel fucking perfect taking my cock. This wet cunt’s all mine, innit?”
All she can do is chant “Yes! Yes! Yes!” over and over again- Simon’s not sure if even she is certain if she’s repeating the word to answer him, or if she’s just babbling because he’s making her feel good and she’s getting close.
“You gonna cum again love? Gonna soak me, hm?” He’s just running his mouth now- knows the shit she likes to hear, reaffirmed by the way she’s shivering in his hold and crying for it with a glassy eyed gaze.
Whatever she is going to respond with is cut off with a squeal. Simon rears back, enjoying the show as she makes a mess all over his cock with her eyes rolled back. He lets go of one of her legs in favor of teasing her clit just shy of overstimulation to prolong her orgasm- she lets him for a time before her hands abandon shredding his back in favor of wrapping around his wrist in a plea for mercy.
“Simon it’s too much,” she laments with teary eyes as he pulls his hand away with a chuckle and a chaste kiss.
He stays curled over her, hips driving into hers. “Tell me where you want it,” he instructs.
“Inside! Please, I want it inside!” Her answer is sharp and immediate, the leg not pinned to her chest wrapping around his waist like she is daring him to even try to pull out.
And fuck there is something cathartic about his orgasm when it hits. Burying his face in her soft body while his hips snapped into hers a few times, Simon groans as his vision damn near whites out for a second.
Simon knows better than most that there’s good days and bad days- and a presumed good day can become a bad day quicker than one can blink. But overall he feels like consistently she’s doing better all around. They take their time calming down, Simon showering her in attention and getting a feel for where her head is at. Praising her for how well she did and making sure she feels stable.
He lets out a breath, feeling confident that she’s settled, having a good day, and everything is fine for now.
And it is. Until about two hours later.
One moment they’re finishing the movie they’d initially started before the impromptu romp on the couch, and then Simon has a 3 second warning of her sniffling as she obviously tries to fight back the tears and then she’s sobbing harder than she has in weeks.
Simon goes from content to concerned in a second, his blood turning to ice in his veins. His immediate assumption is that their prior activities finally caught up with her mentally and now that she’s had time to think it over it wasn’t good. It was too fucking soon to have sex. He should have told her no, should have been gentler, should have-
“Sweetheart? Talk to me,” his voice is tinged with a thinly controlled concern (not panic he convinces himself) and while he means to comfort her, she can hear his tone and that just sets her off anew.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” she blubbers, turning to face him. “I don’t know why I’m crying!”
That settles Simon’s nerves somewhat, stroking her back and pulling her close to comfort her. “It’s okay, sweetheart.” he soothes her, listening to her sniffle against his shirt after shoving her into the crook of his neck.
“I just want to feel normal again,” she sobs into his collar.
“You will, love,” he assures her- never mind that ‘normal’ is something that even he struggles with on a near daily basis. “It’ll take time but you’ll get there. I promise.”
He’s a bastard for making a promise to her that he can’t guarantee to keep. There’s a part of him that knows that- hell, he’s been working on his shit for years and he still doesn’t feel normal most days.
But while he can’t promise that she’ll ever get back to feeling exactly the same as she did before all of this happened, he can promise that he’ll be by her side and ensure she’s adjusting. It will take time, and work, but Simon will make sure she gets there one step at a time.
