Last week I went to #MindanaoToyX2024 to see toy collections from Japanese anime, tokusatsu, cartoon series, etc. It was surreal because I saw different collections from famous tokusatsu series like Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, and many more.

I tried to find #Janperson there. But unfortunately, he's nowhere to be found. 😭

The convention lasted from June 17-23, 2024 at Davao City.

So a funny thing happened today.

Today was the day of the local toycon, and I was very well behaved. I only bought things I'd already been on the look out for (not pictured, but I got replacement shoes for my Strawberry Shortcake dolls!), and no impulse purchases. Sadly a lot of the things I was hoping to find were not to be found, but oh well. Good for my wallet I guess. Still had a blast talking with other collectors. c:

One thing I've been hoping to thrift for a while is a Rainbow Brite doll (I know I could just buy one online, but where's the fun in that?) to go with her horse friend I thrifted a year ago:

But I hadn't had luck with that, so when I found one cheap at the toy fair, I bought her. (Got Rodger too, bc I've been wanting a small plush of him to go with my custom Jessica.)

Anyway, after leaving the con, my ride wanted to go by goodwill, and guess what I find there?

A Rainbow Brite, the exact same as I bought at the fair LMAO

Granted, the one from the fair is cleaner and in better condition, but there's a twist!

They're variants!

The one on the left (the goodwill one) is the Taiwan version, and the right (toy fair) is the Hong Kong version!

It's easier to see in person, but there's a lot of little differences between them despite being otherwise the same doll. Taiwan has more hair, but a blurrier face printing with lighter colors. The skin tones (and fabric skin tones) are different, and other such little details.

Goodwill had a lot of other 80's there toys too, I bought the 2 G1 MLP (I'll show them later), and another woman bought the Care Bears and Cabbage Patch dolls.

I can't believe I finally thrifted one the literal same day I finally decided to buy one elsewhere.

hiya tumblr, its been a minute or atleast it feels like its been. a minute and in reality i just havent been on here that much cause…life

rapid fire updates in 3,2,1

life in general is okay im glad its okay im glad im surviving and having fun at the same time

my family and i are okay, we have our ups and downs pero we’re good either way; i just spent the entire long weekend building my dad’s fathers day gift for him - a voltes v figure with the most intricate parts and i am shook my fingers are still kind of tingling from handling such small parts but it turned out really epic

jp and i went to toycon hence where i bought the vlotes v figure + my very first miffy and then we also watched inside out 2 which i really loved and it hit so close to home na i couldnt help but cry

i miss hanging out with him at home though and im really glad he feels the same na gusto niya lang mag cuddle ulit while watching whatever we fancy on netflix

work is meh, my boss just messaged na we should meet tomorrow since wala ngang movements yung mga tasks ko eh paano naman magkakaron ng movements yung mga need ko gawin when the list of things i need to work on and to merely think about keeps growing by the week

ang tagal ko nang hindi nag cocoffee and it feels good tbh; next stop is trying to eliminate sugar completely pero parang hindi ko ata kaya yun

last but certainly not the least kasi this is the main reason why i feel so fucking light headed right now - i had this small bump on my chest na akala ko tuyong sugat na and i had the urge to just scratch it off kasi nga i thought it was already dried skin; bitch tell me why there was SO MUCH BLOOD gushing out of such a tiny tiny teeny tiny hole as in kahit naliligo ako hindi tumitigil yung pag labas ng blood i cant as in just remembering it now is making me sick buti nalang it stopped na

yun lang, this long weekend was really lovely actually and despite anxiety creeping in dahil mag work na ulit tomorrow, im prepared naman na to face everything and i know i can handle everything thats about to be thrown my way
