Editing, printing and researching!! This is what my afternoon it was made of. I started at 3pm with the editing of the poster. Marcus sent me the original master_poster.psd file, to avoid loosing the quality of the image during the printing after the extra editing. I have been able to download the logo of Instagram and to open it up on Photoshop. I created a new layer, reduced the size (to make the logo fit inside the white box) and I added the contact to the Instagram Account. This is the final result.
The second stage it has been to go to print it. I went to the library to do so, and I printed out four A5 size copies.
The final stage it was to go straight to the LBC, that it was closing in 1h, so I had to run!! Luckily I managed to arrive just on time and I pin the advert on the board successfully!!
And this it was done. Once I went back home. started my research of the various institutions. I started with the Institute for Arts in therapy and education. I was not sure if they had a pin board somewhere or if they had a department in charge of these kind of events, I took the chance to email them and ask them directly: Dear Sir, Madam or Them, My name is Cecilia Taormina and I am Marcus Boyle's assistant. Marcus is an artist who runs art phototherapy and mindfulness workshops in London. Reading your website I understood the Institute runs art based therapycourses in the city, therefore I was wondering if it would be possible for me to come over this afternoon and put a flyer on your board as long as the subject matter is related. Regards, Cecilia Their response was very quick and amusing, considering the fact that it was an option that I did not expected at all: Hello Cecilia, Thank you for your email. We do not, unfortunately have a notice board. We do however have a newsletter which I have CC’d to this email. Kind Regards, Natasha Wade -LowisAcademic Administrator Institute for Arts in Therapy & Education 2 – 18 Britannia RowLondon N1 8PA www.artspsychotherapy.org Tel: 020 7704 2534 I forwarded the email to Marcus, so once I will meet him I will ask him if he wants me to chase them and get published on the newsletter or not. I feel so happy!!! This is a very good first result. The second places I applied it was Tower Hamlet, refreshing the advert. This is the immediate email that I received after submitting the event. I guess I will have to wait a few days before it will get approved, as usual. Thank you for submitting your item for inclusion on the Tower Hamlets Council Arts Information listings. Your submission will be checked by the arts & events team. The Tower Hamlets arts & events team reserve the right to make any necessary alterations to your entry to ensure it is appropriate for publication on the council website. You will be notified when your entry has been approved or if we are unable to publish details on the website. Should you need to edit your entry in the meantime, use this link: http://www.towerhamletsarts.org.uk/?page=edit&key=71bf92e8747d76d7 You can keep up with all the latest news and information from Tower Hamlets Arts by liking our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/TowerHamletsEvents or following us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/THevents The rest of my research it has been directed to the discovery of libraries where students go often to at this time of the year. This is my thinking: It is August, students who are in the campus accommodations are away, which means that the campuses are empty due to the summer holidays and accommodations closure. Where do these students go? They are probably at home, some of them having holidays and some other doing researches for dissertations or internships, like me. Therefore the libraries close to their homes is the first place where to find these people. Focusing on the fact that the Workshops will be held in East London, it is useful set our attention on the libraries of this fraction. What do we have? The Idea Store it is the biggest institution I can think of, in matters of popular libraries. They have libraries in Bow, Whitechapel, Canary Wharf, Canada Water etc. So what about using these places to sponsor the workshop on their pin boards? Another place I thought it is the faculty of Psychotherapy at Westminster University and the one at Goldsmith, which does Art psychotherapy courses. People in this field must be interested, so I would like to try them. I will do more researches later on this week, according also to the answer of Marcus. Hopefully we will be able to select awesome places!!
