shared moments (dabi)
a handful of shared moments between you and your maybe more than friend, touya todoroki, the flame villain.
this is a prequel to the first fic i posted, pheonix, but it could be read as a standalone !
wc: 2.8k
reader is not described but is implied to have a quirk that makes them colder. i also imply that they're a nurse who frequently works with burn patients, including dabi's victims.
cw: 18+ ONLY !!! no smut, just kissing, grinding, and shirts come off but it ends pretty quickly after that. dabi accidentally wounds reader (a small burn from trying to wake him from a nightmare), mentions of abuse, murder, dying, and nausea. soft yet emotionally stunted and avoidant dabi
playlist: maybe by flower face, zombie by everglow, voidstar and longlegs by grim salvo
He’s shaking, head in your lap. You think he might be crying, but his hands are covering his face as he curls up as tight as he can. Dabi didn’t usually spend the night, but on rare occasion you can wrangle him into sleeping a few hours before running off who knows where. Tonight had been fun, daresay cozy, watching bad movies under a blanket so you could use him as a space heater and he could use you as an icepack.
It’s near four in the morning, far past when he usually sneaks out of your tiny apartment, when you awoke to his distress. He’d been squirming on his side of your too-small bed, mumbling and whimpering unconsciously. Even now, you don’t think he’s realized the small burn on your arm from trying to wake him, but you don’t move to soothe it; you’re too busy trying to soothe him. You rub his side over his shirt and pet a hand through his spiky hair even though he’s long since stopped shaking. You pretend you don’t care you have work in a few hours.
Now, he’s completely motionless, arms fallen to the cushion of the mattress. His voice is raspier than normal when he finally speaks, “…Sorry about that.”
“’S okay. I’ve seen worse.”
You both know he’s caused your ‘worse’.
“Do you wanna tell me what’s going on up here?” You tap your fingers softly against his temple. It’s a miracle he hasn’t moved yet.
“Don’t think that’s something you’d wanna hear about.”
“You can tell me anyways,” you can practically hear him go over the notion in his head. You met almost a year and you hardly know anything about the man besides his preferred snacks and the types of movies he likes to make fun of.
He thinks for a bit before stating, “you’ve never asked about my scars.”
You hum in agreement. The healed tissue is naturally textured but worsened from insufficient aftercare. The skin grafts look like they were done by someone with medical experience, at least. “Were you dreaming about when you got them?” The scar tissue on his face always made it look like the flames had tried to take him in its hands; like it wanted to soothe him. Console him. You want to do the same.
“Kinda,” he says after another long pause, like he’s trying to find the words, “maybe more like ‘why’.”
He can’t see you frown at that. You don’t like the implication it carries.
He’s quiet for a long time while you brush through his hair. It’s gotten longer- you think you can see blonde roots peak through the inky black.
“My old man…real shit guy,” he takes in a shaky breath and subtly curls deeper into your lap, “I’m gonna kill him one day.”
(You didn’t think he was serious, then.)
“All he cares about is power. He bought my ma so he could create a child more powerful than him. I’m the oldest of four- and his biggest failure,” you wince at the way he chuckles, “It’s funny. He got what he wanted. My youngest brother is a prodigy. He’s one of the top students at U.A.,” Dabi stops again, like he has to prepare himself for what he’s about to say, “I hated that kid for so long. Tried to kill him when he was a toddler, wanted to prove I was better than him. When I was twelve or thirteen I told dear old dad I got stronger,” another pause “He didn’t care,” another pause, like he’s debating telling you the rest at all, “I burned down half a forest, woke up three years later. The fucker who fixed me up showed me pictures of my funeral and everything. Ma got institutionalized not long after…but I gave myself a new name, since I died that day.”
“What was his name?” You ask impulsively. You wish you could take those words back, stuff them in your mouth and swallow them down
“Who’s?” He looks up.
“The boy who died.”
Dabi looks away again, contemplates before relenting, “Touya. Touya Todoroki”
“Touya sounds like a sweet kid. I hope he’s resting easy.”
It’s like the words flipped a switch in him. He shoots to sit up straight. His eyes are angry. Scared.
“You don’t know shit about him.”
“That’s not the point.”
He gets up, paces the length of the bed a few times, stops, looks at the ground, “You don’t know what you’re talking about. You don’t know shit about me.”
“And whose fault is that?” You really need to learn when to shut your stupid mouth.
He looks up. Sees you fully for the first time since waking. He can see the welt he caused on your arm in his post-nightmare panic. His anger dies. His eyes widen. You reach to slap your hand over it to shield it from view, but he has his jeans on and his jacket and boots in hand before you can find words to say. He’s out the door before you can ask him not to leave.
(You call out of work that day. You won’t hear from him for three weeks.)
Later that day, the search results for Touya Todoroki hurt as bad as you expected them to. There aren’t many paparazzi pictures of him, only a handful of him with his dad at award ceremonies.
His dad. Pro hero Endeavor.
The news coverage of his son’s death is minimal, and it’s mostly about Endeavor taking a leave of absence from hero duties to grieve with his family, but the obituary is public. The white haired boy in the picture looks so young. It’s not very detailed aside from denoting that his funeral was a private ceremony.
You open a new tab and search for fire related quirk malfunctions or natural disasters from around the same time. Its not hard to narrow down that the forest fire that destroyed Sekoto Peak was Dabi’s doing. The flames had been massive and unnaturally hot, nearly impossible to contain. There was barely anything left besides charred bone fragments from wildlife and the partial jawbone of the only human casualty they could find. The victim is unnamed, but it says the police were able to identify them through dental records and bring closure to the family.
There’s a handful of pictures of Endeavor at the scene. They make your stomach churn.
A third tab. Endeavor. There are news articles about his most recent achievements and a few about his youngest son, Shoto, who recently passed the entrance exams into U.A., just like Dabi said.
You feel nauseous.
It’s so comfy laying here wrapped around him like a koala. He’s cold and hot at the same time. There’s one hand cradling the back of your head to his chest while the other rubs your back over the blanket he draped over you.
You don’t usually let him in when work gets you like this. He’s usually the cause, being the most prolific fire quirked villain in the country, but you felt like you needed him today. A little boy had come in with his parents after his first quirk manifestation. All you could see was a young Touya Todoroki when you looked at him. Now all you feel is the pain you feel for the real thing who has you cradled in his arms like you’re more than maybe a friend.
Dabi is prickly when it comes to touch- despite the nerve damage, his scars are sensitive- but for you, he makes exceptions, especially since this is his first time seeing you since his meltdown last month. When he woke up in his dingy-ass apartment today, he knew he had to see you, knew something was wrong. His gut was right. You practically collapsed crying in his arms when you opened the door.
You’ve barely said anything since he’s settled the two of you down on your bed. Every time he thinks about saying something, you burrow impossibly closer into his chest like if you try hard enough you can crawl in his ribs and clean out all the ash and soot that make him up.
He wants to apologize for how he left. He wants to tell you he was scared, that he’s still scared, because he’s never let anyone get close the way you have, and he doesn’t know why he yearns for you to be closer. It’s the only time he ever wishes things had gone differently. If he was closer to a normal guy, less of one of the most wanted villains in the country, maybe he’d let himself be happy to be known by you.
But the only thing Dabi can do is destroy. He burns too hot to be anyone’s light.
Dabi is ruthless. He’s a monster, a villain, a killer; there’s nothing that could clean the blood from his hands.
That doesn’t stop him from pretending things are different, even if just for a moment. You’re naturally cooler to the touch and he finds it hard to imagine ever choosing to be anywhere but in your arms. It’s such an unfamiliar feeling.
Dabi’s never had to comfort someone before. He’s never really wanted to, either.
He isn’t one to be soft or kind or comforting. It’s all so confusing. How do you drag this out of him? Why is he so content with this moment? Something about you makes him different. He doesn’t know what to do with that.
He’s scared. He’s angry. He’s unhappy.
You pull yourself away from him completely, scooting to lay on your back on the other side of your bed.
“Sorry,” you mumble, “you can go now. That was probably really uncomfortable for you. You can leave now, if you want.”
Your eyes are so empty. He’s never seen you like this. He doesn’t know what to do. He thinks he wants to stay, make his last visit up to you with more time tonight, but would you rather he go? Should he ask about what upset you? This is so new to him.
He leaves.
The next time he’s over, you pretend to not notice the tension in the air. You move around in your usual sync, gathering snacks and scrolling through the worst rated movies you can find. You feign obliviousness to the way his eyes linger on you for longer than usual and curl up on the opposite side of the choice from him, like the months of slowly shifting closer to each other didn’t happen.
The jokes are bored and the laughs are empty.
He doesn’t spend the night. You don’t ask him to. He doesn’t know why he feels so hollowed out when he leaves.
A few weeks later, after watching movies and ignoring elephants in rooms, you fall asleep. Dabi waits, lets whatever’s playing continue to run while he watches you breathe in and out at a steady rhythm.
The credits roll. He turns off the T.V. and welcomes the darkness lit only by the city as he gets up to lay you down on your little couch. He’s never done this for you before- he doesn’t know why he’s doing it now. Your eyes flutter open as he kisses your forehead and tucks you into your blanket you keep out here.
(He did it without thinking, like it was natural, a habit. He was a big brother, once. He hadn’t realized that part of him survived.)
You look up at him as he stares down at you, eyebrows furrowed at his surprised expression. His eyes flicker to your lips without his permission. He’s already leaning over you, it’d be so easy to crawl on top of you, kiss you, wherever and however you want.
He doesn’t know what possesses him to do it. Maybe it’s Himiko’s insistence he grow up and take the risk, maybe it’s a moment of weakness where he allows himself to forget who and what he is, but he’s pressing a soft kiss to your lips without realizing. The contact makes your head jerk back, eyes wide in shock, surprise, wonder. You look at him like there’s something worthy of being looked at. His mouth moves to apologize, but you’re shooting your hands to hold his scarred cheeks and pressing you lips to his before he can try. Your skin is so cold against his had surprised at the lack of steam. He thinks you’re the prettiest thing he’s ever seen.
He doesn’t reciprocate in his shock. His response is even further delayed by the fact that he’s never done this before. He feels like a teenager- or what he imagines what being a teenager under more normal circumstances would allow him. As you move to pull away, afraid you’ve somehow overstepped, Dabi is snapped out of his shock, and he’s pulling you back in. His kiss is messy, wet, spit slick as his tongue licks into your mouth with no hesitation. The taste of his urgency is unexpected but he feels so incredible you can hardly stand it. You revel in the way his dull nails bite into your skin when you whimper at the sensation.
His hands are heavy as they make their way down your body, nearly pushing like he needs a constant reminder that this is real. Before you know it, he’s on the couch, on top of you, pushing at your shirt and you’re pulling it over your head in compliance. Dabi takes the moment to yank off his own; his torso is a marble of normal and scarred skin with a shiny barbell through each nipple. You wonder briefly if the metal is hot like the rest of his skin as his lips crash back into yours. One hand in your hair, the other on your waist- he’s pushing you down, pulling you in, until he's all but crushing you in his desperation.
You moan when he lets up, “Dabi-“
“No, no- don’t call me that. I don’t want to feel like a villain with you,” he’s equally breathless, practically heaving above you.
“…Touya?”
Your uncertainty is immediately discarded when he fully moans at the sound of his given name on your lips, “yes, yes, thank you-“ and he’s kissing you again, cradling your face like you’re porcelain but grinding down like you’re the farthest thing from fragile.
His grip tightens when the pressure of his hips makes you moan.
The weight of his body makes you dizzy. His lips and hands move down your neck, licking, biting, and sucking at all the skin newly exposed to him and it feels so good you don’t now what to do with yourself. You decide on shoving your hands in his hair; you’re pulling it at the root when he bites down next, and he’s moaning into your throat like it might kill him to be quiet.
What does he want from me? The question crashes through your brain like a bullet. You don’t know if you want to actually ask. Would it be so bad to let this happen, just to have him close like this? Is the burden of wanting from afar easier to carry than having him halfway? Yes. Of course it is.
Your sudden unresponsiveness stills him. He pulls away to find your eyes distant and face neutral.
“Touya?” You ask after a silent minute filled with his thumbs rubbing circles in your waist, “what did that mean? To you, for us?”
He gulps, “I don’t know.”
He hadn’t thought this far ahead. He hadn’t thought at all.
“You don’t know,” you echo.
He’s off you before you can decide what to make of his answer.
“Sorry, don’t know why I did that- sorry,” you think you hear as he fumbles around for his coat and his boots. You don’t say anything. You don’t even look at him. Instead, you focus on the ceiling it’s almost too dark to see. You think you hear him pause at your door, but your head is so loud and intelligible you aren’t paying attention.
The static doesn’t block out the sound of your front door shutting, though.
(Neither of you realize he left his shirt behind until after he’s already out the door. You pretend you resist the urge to cuddle it to catch his scent on it, and he will pretend he doesn’t imagine you doing just that.)
Ever the coward, Touya runs. He throws up his shame once he’s in his own apartment. He knows he shouldn’t have left. He didn’t want to- but he didn’t know how to stay either.
He hates himself more than he has in a long time for tonight.
His burner buzzes in his pocket. It’s Shigaraki. plans in motion.
He doesn’t think you’ll forgive him for doing this, but it’s been building since before he met you. It’s not like he has any sort of life or future to look forward to anyways. It’s not like he gives you much to miss anyways.
Soon. Endeavor’s head. Soon.

Passing Peonies - Post War Touya Todoroki - Part I
When the war ended, Midoriya Izuku had proven one thing: That Villains did not need to be killed to be defeated. That you could make friends from enemies.
Touya Todoroki, formerly known as Dabi, had been one of those taken into the rehabilitation program. After one year of intense physical and psychological therapy, he's got the chance to prove himself. To prove that he can be a part of this world.
Complete fic length: 30.600 words - Masterlist
Warnings: poor mental health and resentment against past actions is mentioned, burn scars etc. as well. There is angst but this is mostly soft Touya coming back to his family...
Part 1: (1,9k)
Questioning his own sanity isn’t something he likes doing but standing in front of the tiny flower shop, Touya Todoroki can’t help but do so.
One year might have passed since the war, a year filled with intense therapy both on his body and mind, but still only a year and not a lifetime.
“Do you want to skip it?” Shouto asks behind him, eyes trailing over the display of flowers outside the shop, the amount of it almost blocking the sidewalk.
Had it been Fuyumi or Natsuo with him today, they’d already marched right inside, the two of them more annoyed with the lack of positive responses than he was.
But it’s Shouto who asked to accompany him today and Shouto like to ask for his opinion on every single thing first, whether it was which seat he preferred to sit in the car - the back seat - or how he liked his morning coffee - black, two pieces of sugar.
-
The flower shop is tiny, crammed into the small space between a coffee shop and a drugstore, with wooden chairs and tables covered in plants right outside the too-small windows.
He imagines the owner to be a little old lady, back arched under years of hard work. She’d throw him out the moment she realizes who he is. Or maybe it’s some uptight dick of a man, who thinks selling flowers is the hip thing to do. Which would end in a similar scenario, just maybe with more obscenities.
He’d been cleared to start work in the rehabilitation program, given a list of employers who offered a part-time job for ex-criminals for a small amount of financial assistance. But even if they offer part-time jobs, he still has to apply for them and pass. So far he’s only collected rejections.
-
A bell chimes as Touya opens the door and he can’t help but snort at the interior.
It feels like stepping into a tiny jungle, barely contained by the four walls of the building.
Cut flowers of all colors, sizes, and kinds are creatively dispersed between plants that grow up the walls or droop from the ceilings.
The smell is intoxicating and he can hear Shouto take a deep breath behind him.
“Hello?” He calls out when he can’t spot the owner. “I’m here for the interview?”
“Oh, of course.” A sweet, almost timid voice, calls out from the back, “Touya Todoroki, was it?”
He can hear the clicking of heels, a plant is pulled back and a smiling face appears.
That’s the first sign. This is his sixth interview this week and none of the others have been smiling at his sight.
The smile does not leave your lips when you step closer and he wonders for a second if you are visually impaired, until you offer him your hand to shake. Telling him your name, your eyes lock onto him and for only a heartbeat, he forgets to breathe.
That’s the second sign.
There is no anger in your eyes, no thinly veiled hatred for what he has done. But there is a kind of recognition in them that he knows well.
He shakes your hand as gently as he can, too aware of how small your hand feels in his.
“I brought my brother with me.” He stumbles over the words, stepping to the side as well as he can in the cramped space.
That’s the third sign. Your eyes widen at the sight of Shouto, and he spots a little shiver that you try to hide as you offer Shouto your hand as well.
Oh, well. You are cute, sure, but if you are into his brother, he won’t stand in the way.
-
Two hours later he steps out of the flower shop with a folder and a brand new job, starting tomorrow.
“Do you want to go for Soba?” Shouta asks next to him, seemingly unaffected by the news but phone already in hand, typing away.
Touya’s sure the family group chat is getting all the important information right now.
He looks down at the folder, his name on the official document.
He’s got a job.
Is this how it feels to be normal? To lead a normal life?
It feels a little weird.
“Sure.” He says instead. “Soba sounds good.”
🌺.
You’re humming a tune when he arrives, smiling when the bell signals his arrival.
“I hope you don’t mind that it’s second-hand.” You tell him, holding out a bundle of green fabric. “But good aprons aren’t cheap and this one’s your size. If you feel uncomfortable with it, I will order a new one.”
“It’s fine.” He slips it on, fighting with the strings in the back.
“Can I help?” You ask and he nods, teeth clamped together against the uncomfortable feeling of being useless.
“I’ll go over everything again. If you remember something, feel free to chip in. I know it’s a lot of stuff to remember, especially when you’ve never worked in this field before, so we’ll go over it every morning until you feel comfortable with it.”
The days pass like this.
You’re here before him, helping him tie that stupid little knot at the back so his apron stays on, leading him through the shop to go over the flowers.
On Friday he can name almost all of them, only mixing up the gerbera and Coneflower Daisy. He helps you carry out the flowers you choose for the display that day and mans the till the rest of the day where you teach him how to tie ribbons and how to cut stems so that they last longer.
The shop doesn’t get many customers, a few old ladies that are too blind or too polite to recognize him, always choosing the cheapest flowers for the bouquets, cooing when you add a surprise flower without charging for it.
A few students pass by who buy single-cut flowers or look at the prizes of the bigger plants and skiddle out awkwardly.
And of course, there are some guys who come in, obviously in the quest of flirting with you, but you’re either too oblivious to get the hints or too polite to act on it. Whatever the case, he throws them menacing looks until they leave.
So far, no one has made a fuss about him being there and he wonders if his new skin grafts are really that good or if people have gotten more polite since he went into therapy.
🌺.
Right now you’re walking up and down the shop, looking over the cut flowers and mumbling to yourself.
He guesses that whatever you’re coming up with at the end of your mumbling session will involve more learning for him so he leaves you to it and enjoys the chance of getting to look at you.
You don’t dress overly cutesy, not like Toga who loved making herself look younger than she was. The white shirt you’re wearing under your own green apron accentuates your curves even more than the outfit you’d worn on Monday. If only Shouto would come by like he had asked him to, even offering to buy him lunch, but his younger brother’s swamped with work.
You turn to look at him, catching him in the act of wondering how you managed to make your ponytail look so fluffy.
“Are you with your family this weekend, Toya-kun?”
“Uh… yes.” Where’s this going?
“That’s great. How many members does your family have? Including you?”
“Uh, five. My parents, my three siblings, and me.”
“Five? That’s perfect.”
“How so?”
“Oh. There’s something about uneven numbers that feels more comfortable to the human eye. There’s something about unevenness and imperfection that’s comforting.”
Something heavy settles in his gut, but not like the negative feelings he knows. This one feels new and yet familiar, like when you’ve finished a bowl of your favorite food.
“What would you have done if we’d been six people?”
“That’s a lecture for another day.” You tell him, beckoning him over to the cut flowers.
“I allow all my employees to make one free bouquet per week. This will be your first. Pick one flower for each of your family members. Don’t think too much about if they’ll match or not, just go with your gut.”
He huffs and looks at the buckets of flowers.
There are white lilies and flowers as red as his father’s hair. There are roses and tulips that are a wild mix of red and white. But wouldn’t that be too easy?
He looks again and his eye catches on a deep purple China Aster. Purple used to be the color of royalty, he remembers, and his mother had always felt regal to him.
“This one for my mother.” He says quietly and you take the flower from him.
Next is a bright yellow Gerbera for his father, just because of the dichotomy of it. The flower had always felt passive-aggressive to him, but also cheerful, like someone trying to overcome past aggression by being extra positive.
A blue silk flower for Fuyumi because blue is her favorite color no matter how much she likes to deny that and lavender for Natsuo because it’s the only medicinal plant he recognizes. Finally, he hands a light pink tulip over, the flower always reminding him of innocence and naivety, something he still connects to his youngest brother.
“You’re missing one flower.” You remind him softly.
“Oh.” He looks down at them in your hands and laughs awkwardly. “I guess I forgot myself.”
But when he takes in all the flowers, none of them speak to him and he feels himself becoming increasingly frustrated.
“Alright. I’ll allow it this time.” You say softly next to him and he turns, a little confused by your words.
“Hold out your hand, Toya-kun.” He does and you hold your own hand above it, not touching him but the space between is so small he can feel your presence.
Something heavy drops into his hand and he pulls it down to reveal a thick green bulb with a stem rapidly growing from its end.
“What’s that?”
“A peony. Sadly they’re not in season right now and this little one doesn’t want to show its face yet. You might have better luck in a day or two.” You hand him the other flowers and point at the greenery to the side.
“Now we need all the side characters to complete the picture.” You pull out different things, like Aspidistra and Bear Grass and some Israeli Ruscus Green, calling them the house they lived in, the rooms that housed them, the beds that carried them.
He’s still a little stunned by you showing your quirk like that when you hand him the greenery and point to the table next to the till.
“Now, make your first Bouquet. You know how to do it but I’ll be there to help if you need me.”
🌺.
“Oh, what a lovely bouquet.” His mother claps a hand to her mouth at the sight of the flowers. “Did you make that yourself?”
“I did, actually.” He feels immensely proud of it and just a little bit awkward about the words that follow, repeating them after you.
“Every flower resembles one of you but you have to guess who’s who.”
Rei studies the bouquet that so obviously lacks white or red and blinks in confusion.
Toya can feel a satisfied smirk growing. You were right. This is kinda fun.

Have you seen the update? I cried when Dabi cried and said sorry to Shoto... They deserve better......I wish for AU where Touya can be the a big brother for his siblings. He'll be a good brother, right? Do you have any hedcanons if Touya still stay with his siblings?
I have seen the leaks! I don’t talk about manga stuff on here much because I’m not a manga reader, so I try to keep my blog spoiler free too.
But I do want to talk about this so I’m going to use ask this to do that! It makes me sad. I hope he doesn’t actually die, I think killing a suicidal characis not a good way to end their arc.
But it’s okay we don’t have to think about that, let’s think about big brother touya instead:
he’d probably be really good at piercings, since he has a few and he also just has to staple his whole face all the time. So I can definitely imagine him giving a piercing to one of the others, maybe they get matching ones?
I’d like for him to go no-contact with Enji in the same way Natsuo said he will, though I doubt he will if he does live because he still wants his father’s affection. I can see him considering it many times
I think he’d make a real effort to get to know Shoto and be close to him, after the apology I definitely think he regrets his actions toward Shoto and I think he’s always wanted to know him deep down
He’d be interested in the lives of the other two, I think he’d especially find Natsuo in med school to be quite wholesome as I headcanon Natsuo was the one to patch up Touya’s burns when they were younger
He would probably take longer to start talking to Rei again as I think he feels incredibly guilty for how he treated her. But I can definitely see him breaking down and apologising to her next
with Fuyumi and Natsuo I’d imagine he’d try and get their relationship to be back how it used to be. Which I don’t think would work, but I can see them becoming close again.
he’d be very excited if Shoto asked to eat soba with him <3
Thank you so much for the ask! I love answering them

⚝ Bury my Ashes at Sea (Touya "Dabi" Todoroki x Reader) (Longfic)
You and Dabi have been broken up for some time now, but you're still the only person he wants to see before he takes his final bow. With your grieving face still fresh in his mind, he can't help but wonder how things would be different if you two met when you were kids. In his daydreams, he gifts you a Quirk, and you both go to U.A together. He becomes a hero, and you his adored engineer. When everything inevitably goes to hell...you become a villain with him. A villain he names Hex. Content: Hero!AU, female reader, childhood friends to lovers, mutual pining, established relationship, post break-up, angst, reader is physically disabled and chronically ill and has an established backstory, non-explicit sexual content in later chapters, very very lovesick and typically obsessive Touya, Sad Ending Snippet:

♪bottom of the river. (Touya Todoroki x Siren!Reader) (Oneshot)
The eldest Todoroki boy is found adrift at sea. Covered in burns from head to toe, but somehow still breathing. He was missing for days. The accident should've killed him. No one knows how he survived. The town praises it as a miracle. But when Rei notices that he suddenly keeps sneaking to the ocean in the middle of the night, and hums a disjointed melody when no one else is around, she begins to suspect that it was no miracle that saved her son. Content: Fantasy!AU, horror concept, Touya is being claimed by a Siren but Rei is not willing to give up her son, VERY inspired by some of the things I wrote in Bury My Ashes at Sea so there might be similar imagery, reader's gender is simply not planned to be mentioned, sfw, Rei's POV est wc: 10-13k current wc: 0 sponsored wc: 500/13000

Touya doesn't know a kind of love where he doesn't hurt. He prides himself in it, really. He's perfect for you. You bite him and he doesn't feel it. He's already covered in bandages from his Quirk, so no one notices a difference. And if he's a little extra dizzy or laid up in bed, who cares? He's always been a little sickly. No one notices. Don't worry about him. You tell him how good he tastes and he doesn't think he's ever felt so alive in his life. He lets you take as much as you want. See, you don't need other, stronger humans. He can take it. This is what love is. He'll never tell you to stop. Not even when he can't feel his fingers anymore. Just don't pick someone else. BnHA Volume 36 - Reaction Journey Part 2
continuing on our journey following yesterday’s volume 35 post! some more out-of-context random bullet point reactions taken from my reaction posts for each chapter. the full reactions for each chapter will go up eventually once I finish my manga catch-up marathon (currently at chapter 367).
spoiler warning: just fyi, this post will obviously feature spoilers for chapters 350-362, BUT it will also include a couple of stray spoilers from chapter 403 as well, so just a heads up for that if you aren’t fully caught up!
Chapter 351
friends, we are about to embark upon the most dramatic, theatrical, Shakespearean disaster of a fight this series has ever witnessed. brace yourselves
yes Shouto, that’s just cuz he literally doesn’t feel pain and doesn’t care if he lives or dies :’)
IS THIS PART OF THE PLAN??? IS SHOUTO NOT FIGHTING BACK BECAUSE HE’S TOO BUSY CONCENTRATING ON WHATEVER THING HE’S DOING?? BECAUSE IF NOT HOLY SHIT. YOU’RE ALLOWED TO FIGHT BACK SHOUTO
actually come to think of it, he hasn’t attacked once so far. not even the usual giant ice wall opener move. he’s definitely got something up his sleeve. but my god man in the meantime this is hard to watch
sorry Touya, but as justified as your grudge against Enji might be, your grudge against Shouto? not so much. I get it, life handed Shouto the keys to your dream life and he had the audacity to say he didn’t want to drive. but Shouto is allowed to make his own choices, and want his own things. for that matter, so are you. but you’re just stuck. gah. it’s so frustrating and yet the psychology of it is so incredibly compelling
“I might not have the clearest sense of my own identity, but at least I didn’t kill 30 people” fjdsjd gottem
“phosphor” is such a next-level attack name. pretty sure it has more to do with light than fire/heat, but with as white-hot as this attack looks to be, I get it and it definitely works
Chapter 352
love that Kaminari’s instinct when seeing this giant flaming X on Shouto’s chest is to immediately poke it. repeatedly. while Shouto just stands there and vibrates uncomfortably
finally!! a proper half-cold-half-hot ultimate supermove!! though I still don’t quite understand how “making fire that doesn’t actually burn things” is going to help in a battle in any kind of way. BUT I CAN’T WAIT TO BE PROPERLY EDUCATED
he’s thanking Deku. for helping him start to discover his true self all those eons ago. what a sweet sweet boy
omg here it comes ULTIMATE MOVE YESSSS
SLAM DUNK NAME AND VISUAL!!! 10/10!!! HELL FUCKING YEAH WAY TO LIVE UP TO THE HYPE HOLY SHIT
fuck. okay, yeah. if you give me a shounen character reminiscing over his hard-earned personal growth, and feeling profound gratitude toward his friends who helped him get this far, and then you suddenly hit me with the crying little kid panels to remind us of who these two characters really are, at the end of the day, once you strip away all the rest of it. you show me little baby Touya who’s just desperate to be loved and validated and acknowledged. and you show me little baby Shouto who understands his brother’s feelings completely, and doesn’t want to actually be here doing this, but knows that he has to because there’s no one else who can. if you go ahead and show me all of that!! well then!! I mean, good fucking job!! you knew exactly what you were doing!! well done!! you got the tears again so well done to you!! lmao
Chapter 353
okay is every single person here trying to jinx themselves now?? you guys do realize how absurdly lucky you are that Shouto finished his epic battle in the span of only 2 chapters? are you trying to draw more misfortune to yourselves??
“hey guys! great news, Todoroki already finished his fight” fdfklskf Kacchan’s gonna fucking lose it lmao. to say nothing of poor Deku who’s still busy hurtling across the Pacific
WHO IS THIS??!
lol what. he’s wearing a shirt collar and suit jacket as pants. and he’s got weird carpet hair and a disquietingly sexy face. AND FLOWER POWER?? who, is this, and why has it taken us 353 chapters to meet him. OR HER??? GENDER-AMBIGUOUS ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE. YOUR FIGHT BETTER BE COOL AS HELL YOU WEIRDO
how is Spinner actually TWENTY FEET TALL NOW??? like, that earlier panel wasn’t actually a fluke or something, that was actually happening?? you smashed a bridge to pieces?!? somehow you’re a Kaijuu now???
this seriously cannot be it though, especially since Iida didn’t even get to do anything. and I really, really, really fucking hate how nervous it’s making me noooo whyyyy
Chapter 354
there is no possible way anything Endeavor tries here will actually work. he’s giving off so many dead man walking vibes right now and I am not okay
DOES FIRE EVEN WORK ON AFO?? LORD KNOWS IT DOESN’T WORK ON ANYBODY ELSE
Hawks is shouting at him lol. “remember what happened to All Might in Kamino!” for real though! how do they keep falling for it??
oh my god what a sickening realization. to learn that the reason you never found your child was that he was taken. not killed, but taken. that it was never even an accident at all, but deliberate. he was targeted and hurt and taken because of you. and the man responsible for it is standing right here in front of you
YOU HAD SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLDS??? YOU HAD MORE SUPERPOWERED OP SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLDS IN RESERVE THIS ENTIRE TIME???? AND YOU DIDN’T THINK TO USE THEM????
what’s AFO even going to do to them lol. I would love to see AFO stumble around and try to come up with some big intimidating weak-point-attacking speech for Tokoyami “The Darkness Is Where I Make My Home” Fumikage. he would probably love it. just sit there hungrily lapping it all up. “no but please keep telling me more about how tormented my soul is, this is great”
Chapter 355
I can’t believe Jirou and Tokoyami are about to fight god
I love Tokoyami and Hawks’s relationship so, so much. there’s just so much trust between the two of them. like on the surface it might seem like Hawks keeps underestimating Tokoyami every step of the way. but in reality it’s more that Hawks, being a former child soldier himself, is extremely reluctant to subject someone else to that, regardless of whether the circumstances are the same, and regardless of how capable Tokoyami keeps proving himself to be. yet another example of Hawks being continuously forced to walk a razor-thin line between decisions that he can live with, and decisions that will actually keep him alive. Tokoyami is a phenomenally powerful fighter, and his presence here absolutely helps tip the scales in their favor. but it’s also an insanely dangerous place for him to be, and so of course Hawks doesn’t want him here
meanwhile on Tokoyami’s end, he started out simply wanting to prove himself to Hawks, but once Hawks opened up to him, his exasperation almost immediately gave way to admiration and respect. and then he almost lost him at Jakku, and I think that really did a number on him, and so he’s so attached to and protective of him now. and I think that in turn has caused Hawks to try and keep his distance a little more, both because he has no idea how to deal with that emotionally, and because he doesn’t want Toko getting hurt. it’s such a delightfully complex relationship and I want to hold it and protect it with everything I have
AFO IS A BAD BITCH YES, BUT YOU ARE EVEN BADDER JIROU GET HIS ASS
lol he is REALLY cheesed about her showing him up in the previous chapter. definitely took it personally
I’m getting so many Bakugou vibes from this. legit getting chills over here. “shut your stupid mouth already.” she recognized the small dick energy a mile away
DIDN’T EVEN NEED ENDEAVOR AFTER ALL LMAO. THAT’S THE COOL, REFRESHING POWER OF JIROU
Chapter 356
AFO LITERALLY CAN’T EVEN PROCESS WHAT’S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW AND IT’S AMAZING
it’s okay to admit you just suck and are getting your ass whooped by Hawks and the sixteen-year-olds
what are you, a Zelda boss?? so he’s got a fucking phase 2 now?? WHY ARE YOU THE MOST ANNOYING MAN
DON’T DIE ENJI YOU FUCKING LOSER YOUR BOYS NEED CLOSURE AND SO DO I GODDAMMIT
ARE YOU REALLY DOING THIS WITH JUST THE ONE ARM YOU ABSOLUTE LUNATIC
anyways, wow. after getting COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY shown up by newly minted main character Jirou Kyouka, Endeavor got his moment after all. whatever else he may be, he’s a damn good fucking hero. and if anyone deserves to get punched so hard they burst into flames, it’s AFO, so yeah
Chapter 357
what a sassy little birb. like how he now has the sexy soon-to-be scar as well! you are now officially a Todoroki
YOU CAN SHOOT FIRE OUT OF YOUR EYEBALLS NOW?? YOU SHOOT LASERS?? THAT’S JUST A THING THAT YOU DO NOW???
fff Endeavor please don’t die :|!!!!
please zap AFO’s other hand!!! I am getting so freaking anxious right now. he’s either gonna win it all here or else something terrible is about to happen
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
DID HORIKOSHI KNOW??? WHEN HE WAS DRAWING THIS??? THAT IT WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO BE THE SINGLE WORST THING ANYONE HAS EVER DRAWN!??!?!!
OH MY GOD I SCROLLED DOWN AND IT WASN'T ACTUALLY THE END OF THE CHAPTER AHHHHHH. FOR SOME REASON I JUST ASSUMED IT WAS. POSSIBLY BECAUSE ALL I WANT RIGHT NOW IS TO FLING THIS MANGA AWAY FROM ME AND INCINERATE IT WITH A BLOWTORCH
Chapter 358
did TomurAFO really just slap a huge chunk of the iconic U.A. school building to pieces with his disgusting infinityhands all unceremoniously just like that. is nothing sacred anymore. what are you gonna do next?? kill off the most popular character??
“so anyway here’s 1000 words on why me becoming a despot is actually a good thing” dude just shut up and get back to slapping shit already
KACCHAN WENT TO THE SUPPORT COURSE FOR AN UPGRADE?? AND WE WERE DEPRIVED OF THAT ENTIRE INTERACTION?! YOU’RE TELLING ME THAT KACCHAN HAS MET HATSUME MEI AND IT WAS OFFSCREENED?? I am suing this manga for wasting my life
magnificent. inspired. I can’t believe this child is going to be fucking dead like three chapters from now (˘̩̩̩ε˘̩ƪ)
THE PALPABLE FUCKING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!
FUCK YEAH KACCHAN MAKE THE BAD MAN GO BOOM
Chapter 359
is this dude actually livestreaming the battle
bitch he’s going toe to toe with the final villain while you’re down in the basement making a Tiktok. you are not the same
HIS FUCKING ARM, FUCK ME. FUCK. FUCK!!
his arm is literal splinters right now and all he cares about is that TomurAFO wasn’t impressed with his new cluster move :’’’’) it’s okay. it’s okay this is fine
this is literally Aizawa’s worst nightmare. greatest fear come to life. one of his students is hurt and in danger and he can’t do anything. Shirakumo all over again. Bakugou is about to die right in front of him and he’s so fucking desperate but he can’t do anything
omg. what a goated fucking chapter. Bakugou angst! Aizawa angst!! Aizawa Being Terrified Over An Imminent Threat to Bakugou’s Safety angst!! and to top it all off, “YOU’RE CLOSER TO MIDORIYA IZUKU THAN ANYONE AND THAT’S WHY I’M ABOUT TO MAKE YOU SUFFER” angst. hoooooooooooly shit
Chapter 360
so he’s literally just. torturing him. just fucking around. wow
WHY IS TOMURAFO JUST CONTINUING TO HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO KEEP ON DOING THIS. WHERE THE FUCK ARE ALL THE REST OF THE HEROES?? FFS, DEKU’S NOT HERE TO THROW A BACKPACK THIS TIME, WHY DOES EVERYONE ELSE FUCKING SUCK SO HARD AT SAVING HIM?!
Studio Bones is gonna have to utilize some sort of AI program to autogenerate these hand things for all their fight scenes. I feel really sorry for that AI and I just hope that it doesn’t somehow develop sentience and take revenge on us all. it would be within its rights to do so
MIRIOOOOOOOO. ACTUAL BEST CHARACTER IN THE SERIES!!! YOU CAN LAUGH AT KACCHAN’S HERO NAME ALL YOU WANT YOU FUCKING STUD. YOU EARNED IT
why was this man not our vanguard. why, when we lost our trump card in the first ten seconds of the fight, did it not occur to a single person that, WELL HEY, SINCE IT LOOKS LIKE THE DEKU THING MIGHT NOT END UP WORKING OUT. WHAT IF WE JUST, YOU KNOW, MIRIO
welp. if anyone needs me. I’ll be in my room crying over fictional characters
Chapter 361
QUICKLY NOW! WHILE HE’S DISTRACTED REMEMBERING HOW HE USED TO BE CUTE AND NOT-EVIL!!
why do I feel like Mirio also got the strange, fleeting impression that he was talking to someone else other than TomurAFO for a moment there? he looks like he’s WEIRDED OUT AS ALL FUCK, but also genuinely sorry for offending him lol
JEANIST IS STANDING UP AND TRYING TO DISTRACT TOMURAFO TO PROTECT KACCHAN, I AM YET AGAIN AWASH IN FEELINGS
I know I sound like a broken record here but Tamaki, not allowed to die, etc. etc. just so we’re clear Horikoshi. I don’t trust you to remember!!
WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY FEED THIS KID BEFORE THEY WENT INTO BATTLE OMFG!!!!!!!
WHAT A TERRIFYING THING TO BEHOLD. I DON’T SEE HOW THIS IS GOING TO DO FUCKALL AGAINST TOMURAFO NO MATTER HOW EXCITED THEY ARE ABOUT IT, BUT EVEN SO, GODDAMN
Chapter 362
oh my GOD WHY DOES MY HEART ALREADY HURT SO MUCH aaaaugh I’m not going to survive this am I. Kacchan we’ll die together
did he already know?! NOBODY FUCKING TOLD ME HE ALREADY KNEW?? HE KNEW HOW IT WOULD END, AND HE WENT WILLINGLY. THE SACRIFICE PLAY, oh my god, my heart is pieces
Jeanist’s eyes are so wide and he’s using his quirk and telling Katsuki to stop. he knows. what tipped you off. was it the “take care of everyone” while standing up with sudden terrifying purpose even though he’s already half-dead. was it that. it was that wasn’t it
I AM SO NOT FINE RIGHT NOW IT’S UNBELIEVABLE
that’s it. it’s over. Horikoshi’s won. it’s all fucking over we never stood a fucking chance in hell
Kacchan’s face, when he’s not scrunching it up in a glare, or a frown, or grinning like a homicidal maniac, never ceases to just effortlessly slip past every last one of my defenses. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he just looks so freaking young. like the schoolboy he in fact is. far, far too young to be caught up in a war and facing his own imminent death
seeing him like this now, in his own mental landscape, where he’s free to be himself, and seeing how much of a difference it makes in his demeanor almost immediately, just hits me real fucking hard. he was just way too hard on himself. and he never let himself ask for the autograph because he never felt like he fully earned it, and now it’s too late (or so he thinks), and just. guh
Kacchan dying with that much regret in his heart is not fucking okay and I wanna fight a man about it even though it didn’t even actually wind up happening sob
I love, and hate, that every single other hero there actually did try to stop it. they just weren’t fast enough. god
PUTTING HIS PARENTS THERE WAS A DICK MOVE ON HORIKOSHI’S PART. OH HELLO BAKUFAM HOW ARE YOU, AND BY THE WAY, YOUR CHILD JUST DIED. WHAT A TERRIBLE DAY FOR RAIN

I often think what would’ve happened if Best Jeanist couldn’t intervene in time and Dabi successfully killed Endeavour with prominence burn. Could he have killed Endeavour? How’d the Todoroki family story change? The society?
These are questions I ask myself as well XD I will try my best to answer them, but I do think many other profiles have covered them better than I ever could!
I, as other fans, am of the opinion that much of the storyline would’ve benefited from not maintaining such an extreme separation between hero and villains after the My Villain Academia Arc (MLA would be more so rebels, resistance, rather than villains—shown to have more support). The story from then on should’ve “converged” Shigaraki and Deku’s motivation—making Deku, and the rest of UA students for that matter, truly question hero society and work with Shigaraki, who’d share the spot as protagonist with Deku, to shape a more inclusive and balanced future. It would bring forth Deku’s most captivating character trait, that has had hints of being prominent in the beginning of the story: being the underdog.
The difference in the characters and plot’s approach mentioned above would’ve also solved the issue with AFO, if the War was to happen, as Shigaraki was as much of a victim in that scenario (both, plus UA students and MLA, would fight against AFO). But before I begin to ramble too much about that (and you may be wondering why I bring it up in the first place), the point is that I think Dabi vs Endeavor would be an awkward stage in the story to shift the perspective (in my opinion!) because the issues that have led to the war wouldn’t have interrupted the family’s confrontation and subsequent solution to their issues. I hope I explained that well T-T
I also want to preface my answer with how much of what I say is inspired by @linkspooky deeply informative and well written metas such as “…And They Were Brothers” and “Jason Todd vs Todoroki Touya: Why Not Me?,” many analyses posted by @itsnothingofinterest also come to my mind as I write the answers, as well as amazing insight from conversations I’ve had with my mutual @haine-kleine who has many incredible analyses and alternative routes the manga could’ve taken in terms of Touya and the Todoroki fam. All of this to point to why certain things I answer here may sound similar to their posts (it's because they compelled me and my reading of MHA).
Could he have killed Endeavor?
I honestly believe the story was either going in that direction or that he would at least be out of commission after Dabi’s reveal, either by retiring out of his own volition (as he did too late in the manga, imo) or too much backlash from the public to the point of him being a hero would’ve done more harm than good for anyone involved.
I do think Touya could have killed Endeavor. Endeavor being killed is a compelling route given the whole attention to Touya’s flame burning brighter and stronger than Endeavor’s—so much so that the first time I was reading MHA, I thought the attention to Touya’s fire was foreshadowing Touya killing Enji. I very much enjoy the notion of, "I am the monster you created, and you will die by my hand through no one else's fault but your own."
How’d the Todoroki family story change?
Going off of what I said above, Enji was also set to be a tragic character, in the sense that he was set to fail before he was retconned. The whole point of his atonement would be that it came too late, and as it stands now it feels too much like redemption because the audience doesn’t get a scoop on what “hell” he’s supposedly living (he is also surrounded by most of his family, has a found family, and it is still living in a position of privilege).
His failure would highlight how he doesn’t fully reach a point in which he acknowledges the extent his abuse went. It’s often him feeling sorry for himself and remembering the moments he thinks he was being a responsible father, whilst the memories his family have are destructive both physically and mentally. He often admits his faults but immediately undermines it by adding, “I didn’t think it hurt you/I thought I was doing right by you.” His dream entailing his family achieving happiness without him also acted as an indication he himself acknowledges he should be out of the picture if they are to find actual peace of mind and healing.
Enji dying would be great for Touya to realize that while achieving revenge against his father provides momentary relief and the illusion of “mission accomplished,” the accomplishment wouldn’t suddenly make all of his internal conflict disappear. It would open the opportunity for the story to nudge Touya towards understanding that while confronting your abuser is many times necessary, eventually you need to move on if you want to live without the pain clouding every action and thought you possess—essentially, he would finally begin a path towards healing, and “rehabilitation” (I put quotes because rehabilitation goes hand in hand with their society being unequipped with helping people like the LoV precisely because it urges them to conform to a society that has ignored them when they needed help. I would only accept rehabilitation if society and hero culture were to change exponentially based on the opening segment I wrote).
Endeavor being gone would also allow the Todoroki family to be in proper focus, and be able to delve deeper into Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo’s perspectives. As well as giving Touya the opportunity to reconnect, and connect for the first time, with his own family. Have a moment of him realizing the ways Enji hurt the entire family, and that burning all of them together would only result in suffering for every party involved, himself included, without any substantial outcome. It would give Touya a way to connect with Shouto, and the others, without Enji breathing down their necks (the focus wouldn’t be solely Enji’s point of view).
I think Rei could flourish into who she is outside of her family (Himura, her parents, the supposed role she had to play that brought her immense suffering) and be able to truly grieve what happened to her; Fuyumi could explore the pain of being a parentified daughter and how she doesn’t have to always be her father’s advocate; Natsuo is interesting because he, like Touya, would be able to reassess his rage and work towards moving on as well. Shouto, as much as I enjoy his character (to a certain point), had the narrative conveniently focus on his ties with Enji despite his so-called rebellion, resulting in his pain being constantly undermined for the sake of validating his father’s pain and regret. I think him being allowed to express the anger, the sadness, the hurt, and have someone (Touya) who understands, would be stellar. The way he’d save Touya could go beyond not killing him but demonstrating that his flames are not Endeavor’s. As linkspooky says in their meta, Shouto needed outside interference for him to regain some level of autonomy, and him relaying this autonomy to Touya would be great.
One may assume that these things could have happened with Enji still alive, but given the direction the story takes in maintaining the focus more so on Endeavor’s suffering and how the family all of a sudden has the responsibility to lift him up (yes, I hate this), it shows that it is either Enji or the rest of the family.
The society?
Something I’ve come to realize after exchanging ideas with haine-kleine is that Enji dying would be a good opportunity in showing society that while you can live in total ignorance, it doesn’t erase their role in maintain a status quo in which an influential man gets to abuse his family because he is obsessed with achieving a pedestal society too willingly and unquestionably venerates. How he would most definitely become a martyr to some, but also how he would be the stain in hero society and society in general. A hero killed by a monster of his own making—a monster fueled by his father’s obsession born from society’s failures. [I hope I explained this correctly, forgive me if I didn’t]
I think Enji would then become a warning to both society and hero society. Showing the dangers of complacency and blind support (society); and how being hero entails more than status and power, that being a hero doesn’t give you authority to do awful things to others, and that one day the “monster” you created may very well be your demise (hero society).
I hope I answered the questions properly. I highly recommend reading the metas by the profiles I've provided here, seeing as they are well articulated!

Hi, can I ask from both ask game :

For anime/manga : Boku no Hero Academia
Anime Ask Game - BNHA
Favorite Character: Katsuki Bakugou… I know everyone already knows that but it still makes me feel ashamed to say it cuz it’s such a basic bitch answer lmao. But no one can make me not adore him.
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: I know this is supposed to be ‘either or’ but I’m gonna answer all three.
My favorite arc is probabaly My Villain Academia. Believe or not I actually really like the villains, especially Shigaraki, and I think it’s one of the few arcs in the anime that was done complete justice (then again, I haven’t watched it in a while. I’m sure if I rewatched it my opinion would probably change because of how weird I am about the anime in comparison to the manga). The animation was great and it did what it was supposed to which was to give you engaging back story on some of the villains… and it successfully made me cry the first time I watched it. Anyways, yeah it’d either be MVA or the Paranormal Liberation War arc which is also pretty villain heavy but i like it for different reasons that I won’t go into right now cuz I don’t want this post to be super long.
My favorite episode is Deku vs Kacchan 2. I go back and watch it at least once or twice a year but I reread it more often than I wanna admit because I reference it/the things they said during it in my fics a lot. Light Fades to rain is definitely a close second though.
My favorite scene hasn’t been animated yet, but:
Haven’t been the same since tbh…
Character I think is Underrated: Monoma. I know Hori highlighted him at the end, but I don’t think we as a fandom acknowledge him enough for how cool his quirk is and how impressive the way he uses it is.
Character I think is Overrated: Endeavor… I’m sorry but his character development is literally just going from shitty wife beater -> the bare minimum. He literally tried to kill Touya still towards the end and take himself out with him, and his family had to stop him. I know the whole family blames themselves and thinks “we all failed Touya” but I will always disagree with that. Natsuo and Fuyumi were children and Shoto was literally five and being isolated by his father when Touya went to Sekoto Peak. And all Rei was doing was trying to keep her kids out of danger from their father. Of course she made mistakes, but can you blame her? It’s not like anyone is taught before hand how to handle that kind of abusive situation. I’m sorry, but it’s not a “we’re all to blame” situation, it was all rooted from Endeavor and no one can change my mind about that. I’m glad he doesn’t beat his kids and his wife anymore, but like I said, that’s literally the bare minimum. I don’t think he’s some great hero or anything either when he lost most of the fights he was involved in. I think he’s well written, but well written doesn’t always make a nice character. The only good decision he made as a dad was moving his kids away from him.
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Bkdk, but we already knew that.
Something I love about the Show/Movie: I actually don’t like the anime all that much… after I watched it the first time, and then watched it again with my brother, it stopped being enjoyable. I prefer the manga so much more, however, I will say that I do enjoy most of the music from the anime as a dropout music major. Might+U is unironically one of the prettiest/most impactful/most rememberable orchestral piece I’ve heard in superhero media. It elicits a lot of emotion for a lot of people and I think that’s super cool :)
Fandom Ask Game - BNHA… again
The first character I first fell in love with: Denki Kaminari. I thought he was funny and dumb and I just adored him while I watched it for the first time.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Katsuki Bakugou. I literally hated him for the first three seasons but I only stopped minding him after DvK2. When I read the manga though, how quickly he became my favorite character of all time came completely out of left field. It felt like a punch in the face.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Present Mic. Idk why but he annoys me so much and I just don’t really see much that significant about his character. I don’t hate him or anything, I just find him annoying.
The character I love that everyone else hates: …I don’t think I have one? Maybe Himiko? I know in our community she’s well loved but apparently a lot of dudebros hate her. So yeah. I love Himiko :)
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Mitsuki Bakugou. I don’t hate her, but the way she blames Katsuki for being too weak to defend himself and being the reason All Might retired, hurt my feelings. The first time I watched it, I saw it as a gag, but when I read the manga, it was literally the exact words Katsuki said later to Deku while mentally breaking down. I didn’t like her as much after I realized that. It hurts more when you think about how he used to call Deku weak all the time to make himself feel better. Bullying is often projecting your parental issues onto someone else to lift yourself up in some way because your parents don’t, and since you’re a kid, you don’t know how to lift yourself up in a healthy manner. It just made me sad realizing what Mitsuki’s treatment had to do with Katsuki’s behavior :/
The character I would totally smooch: Mirko. Enough said.
The character is want to be like: honestly everyone in this manga has issues. I’d wanna be like Katsuki, but I don’t want the anger issues, mommy issues, inferiority complex, heart issues, and potential high blood pressure that comes with his good qualities… oh wait I already got all that. Do u think it’d stay the same or would it all double? I ain’t gonna risk it.
I’d wanna be like Sero. Yeah, he seems like he has the least amount of issues. Plus he dresses nice. Anyways…
The character I’d slap: Chisaki and Endeavor. I don’t think I need to explain…
A pairing that I love: Bkdk, but again, we been knew that
A pairing that I despise: EndHawks. I’m sorry but Keigo is literally Touya’s age first of all, and I think anyone who’s willing to date someone the same age or younger as one of their kids is fucking creepy. And two, the way Hawks admired Endeavor is a lot like the way Izuku admired All Might and it just feels icky??? Oh and three, I don’t think a guy who beat his wife and kids, and even drove one of his kids to accidental suicide, shouldn’t be in another relationship, especially one with an unbalanced power dynamic like a 20+ year age gap. Anyways…
Thank for the ask anon! I enjoyed answering it!

How does "AFO gave Tenko Decay" theory being confirmed takes away from Tomura's agency? I'm just trying to understand your point of view. Of course, AFO is saying that none of the decisions Tomura made were his own, but that's simply an exaggeration of what we already knew. We already knew that AFO groomed him and that he was the reason Tenko saw the world in a certain way and why killing was a normal thing to him. And we knew that AFO expected Tomura to wish for more power. So what changed? AFO didn't make people on the streets ignore Tenko, didn't manipulate heroes into not seeing villains as people, and he didn't manipulate Tomura into wanting to destroy everything instead of becoming the new king of the underworld. Tomura made the decision to kill all heroes and destroy Japan. AFO being the one who created Tomura, which we already knew for years, doesn't really take away from the fact that it was Tomura who hurt and killed all those people. And if it does somehow take away from his villainy and the fact that he was the one who decided that he wanted to lash out at the world, shouldn't have people complained about this years prior to this? Because AFO being the main reason for Tomura being a villain was made obvious a very long time ago.
Same person as in the ask about Tomura's villainy not being taken away from. Forgot to add, but we have characters that did bad things and did mean them but are still should be treated as people - Dabi and Toga. None of their agency was taken away. Dabi chose to kill people fully aware, no agency being taken away here. Same with Toga. AFO never was their behind their villainy, he's only the reason why Touya survived. AFO is being sympathised with - through Yoichi. Who is the only one who was genuinelly upset seeing his brother die, and who is the only person AFO ever actually loved in his own way. The only person all of this OFA hunt and vessel-raising was done for, from AFO's perspective. Redemption, atonement and salvation are something one has to want, it's a choice someone has to make. He is treated as this Evil because AFO had all the opportunities to change and never took them. He can't trust people because it would mean giving away something from himself. He is someone who got stuck with emotional maturity of a toddler and could never make the right choice - and it's not his fault. The narration from his backstory is very much sympathetic too.
You're welcome to disagree with me, Anon. But the irony is that you're stating exactly my problem with it: that it's
simply an exaggeration of what we already knew.
Although I'd argue it's more like shooting a spider in terms of exaggeration. Like, there's escalation, and then there's "are you okay" levels of exaggeration. And when you have an exaggeration to this level, you better have a good reason for it. That spider had better be hoping to end the world. But here... that's not the case.
My main point is that: if it doesn't add anything to a story, it shouldn't be there. Yeah, that's harsh, and enjoyment is something added, etc. But, at its most stringent, a plot twist must add something to the story--to its meaning, to illuminate the past chapters, etc. This doesn't do that, which you're kind of even pointing out yourself. And it's such a big reveal, given a horror factor, that it doesn't work to just ignore it either.
I think AFO literally orchestrating Tenko's BIRTH is like... so out of the realm of "grooming." It's into the realm of "defies reasonability and is almost laughable." It's not a parallel or commentary on real life society with subtext, which BNHA has tried to maintain for a long time. Instead it's like... it's such an escalation that it shatters immersion.
What does this add to the narrative? Honestly, it adds nothing that we didn't already know and makes what we already knew "oh wait not actually the most important part," and hence it's not a good reveal.
Like, it wasn't foreshadowed. Was anyone thinking that AFO had orchestrated Shigaraki's birth? It wasn't really implied at all. The quirk thing was implied, but this is just... a dramatic escalation.
It adds nothing in a subtext sense either. Predators irl seek out children who are vulnerable. They don't orchestrate literally everything from creating their very existence by urging their parents to have kids.
The funny thing is that I'm not actually opposed in theory. But in execution, it's bad. See, as much as I'm saying "this is ridiculous," it's because the story as set up didn't set this up.
It could work much better as commentary on social realities like the Todoroki quirk marriage. However, as is, it's nonsensical given that we know AFO was looking at other kids as possibilities. So it also has a whiff of retcon. Again, it could have worked if the story had played more into the god complex or hinted that Kotaro was being manipulated or whatnot. But BNHA hasn't done either of those things. So again I ask, why?
Thematically, one of my favorite aspects of BNHA is society's nuanced flaws. Yes, the flaws that hurt Shig all still happened. Tenko was still ignored. So if society is a problem, then why does Horikoshi need to portray one geriatric dude with a weird interest in strangers' sex lives as the entire reason Shigaraki even exists? Does this add to that theme? It does not.
It adds nothing beyond making it a moral necessity to save Shigaraki.
We also don't have any hint that we're not to take it at face value or to think it's a distortion; Deku isn't challenging him on this. It'd be easy to throw something like that in there, but it's not there.
Anyways, this is my opinion. You're welcome to disagree, and like I said, I'm still cheering for Shigaraki.

Heyyy!Have you seen the spoilers for chapter 389? what is your opinion? :>
Hey, anon. I assume you mean chapter 388? Because chapter 389 isnt out yet. And for new chapter 388, there is not much say but here we go;
Bnha Chapter 388 Opinions;
Rest in peace, Mr. Robot, you are true hero.
Finally, Rei has the chance to show how much she loves her children, Touya. She goes towards fire to save his son. I love how first two thing she says 'Touya! I am sorry!' because thats exactly what Touya needs to hear. His mom is here to save him, trying to cool him down and tells him that she is sorry.
And i wish we get more clear reaction from Dabi because his face is...hard to read. He looks so shocked and sad but still, i wish we get some child Touya rec to his mom since we get with Endeavour scenes so we should've get with his mother and siblings too. I hope we get it at some point in story.
And this is personal opinion but i dont like Fuyumi and Natsuo's speech, compared to Rei's.
Though it is understandable why they say this, i dont like it. Fuyumi says she doesnt want to lose 'anyone else'. This speech is like 'we already lost you so at least, i want my parents to stay alive'. Its like she is saying that there is no hope for Touya.
And Natsuo's 'stupid big brother' thing reminds me of Shouto who said the same thing to him. He is thinking about his past and he says 'stop causing more trouble!'. As if this is all Touya's fault. As if Touya shut his mouth, none of these would've happenned. I think this is the last thing Touya needs to hear right now.
So i know most people might not agree with this but i dont like those speechs at all. I know its such an emotional moment and all, but i wish they told him that they want their brother to live too, that they love him, that they should come home already etc. It is realistic that they are talking this way, and at least they are trying to save their brother too, mostly their mother and father but i think they also want to save Touya too so i get it but once again, i hate their speechs. Its not helpfull.
And Endeavour lol. I never have any expectations for him so i am not surprised that his decision is to kill Touya. Once again leave him behind, the black sheep of the family. Look, i do understand that Endeavour doesnt want other family members to die but he had so many chances to make it right, he constantly throw all of these away and since beginning until the end, he is just ugh.
Meanwhile, Touya is already mentally out of it. I dont even think he understands what is happenning right now. He kinda lost the control of his power, his mind. I think he cant stop the fire even if he wants to. But i think at the end he seems kinda happy that his family is here with him so thats why he is imagining a world that he is accepted, happy with his family. Except Shouto, because because in his mind, he didnt accept him as family member yet.
This was painful to read. Touya deserves better. I am worried about him because he might get 'too exicted' to be with his family again and might be out of control more. I dont think he will die but still, its painful to read. I hope he and other gets saved in time.

So, My Hero Academia Chapter 387 (MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD)...
That was a really, really good chapter, but hoo boy that fucked me up real bad and I need to get some thoughts off my chest before I go to sleep. Tumblr is the best place to post this; I’m not spending $8 on Twitter Blue to type this out.
First off, more eugenic stuff yay... This time with Rei’s family, the Himuras. So, turns out that Geten (the ice villain following Re-Destro) is a part of that family which means that he’s the Todoroki’s cousin at best. I think Rei would’ve said something if he was her brother.
And that the Himura’s have been inbreeding to keep their bloodline “pure” and their ice Quirk in tact... And forced marriages were also desperate attempts to keep this in check. UM WHAT THE FUCK, HORIKOSHI??? I’m not saying this is a bad thing story-wise, but it makes the Todoroki Family situation so, so much worse if that was even possible. And sadly they’re not the only family to do this...
So, if Rei was a product of inbreeding, then (and correct me if I’m wrong) the Todoroki children are technically inbred too on top of being born out of a quirk marriage to begin with INCLUDING SHOUTO WHO’S BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH (I need to clarify that I’m not criticizing Rei or her kids, it’s not their faults. I’m criticizing the practice of inbreeding itself). I feel ill just thinking about that. This is some royal family shit that should never be a thing to begin with. I don’t care if marrying your 2nd cousin shouldn’t fuck up the kids too badly, it’s still extremely fucked up period! This is honestly worse than the quirk marriage imo and that was bad enough as it was. I kind of wish Horikoshi didn’t include this because it’s sadly kind of warpping my perception of them, but I’m not going to fly over to Japan and throw hands with him over it.
And this puts more context into why Rei chose to marry Enji because agreeing to be bought into a marriage with Endeavor to create the perfect offspring with Fire and Ice is somehow better than MARRYING YOUR FUCKING COUSIN AND HAVING A CHILD WITH THEM! She never had a good choice to begin with; she just chose the best one that was given to her. God, I feel bad for this woman.
I honestly need a few days to process this because it was dropped so casually and now I need to sit down and think of the implications of it while working on my finals 🥲
Onto Dabi who is fighting his dad with like half of his body remaining. How the hell this man is alive is a goddamn mystery because he looks like a burning skeleton. And this whole thing has caused his Quirk to evolve to the point where he’s now producing ICE ❄️! HE HAS AN ICE QUIRK NOW TOO! IT’S EXACTLY THE THING ENDEAVOR WANTED THIS WHOLE TIME AND NOW HE HAS IT IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE! I WANT TO SCREAM! SHOUTO AND DABI ARE REALLY 2 SIDES OF THE SAME COIN!
There really is no way of knowing if Touya would’ve unlocked this part of his Quirk if he trained more with Endeavor, but the fact that he actually had the potential to become exactly what he was born for is devastating. He could’ve been what his father wanted him to become, but his Quirk was too dangerous to himself to try. If this happened, Natsuo and Shouto might not have been born (I’m glad they were born tbh), but at least the family would’ve been spared a shit ton of trauma.
Oh, and it looks like that massive fire punch he threw at Endeavor completely burned off his right arm and now he’s right armless like Endeavor. That one panel of them “dancing” with right fire arms is haunting. You could write a whole short essay on that panel. Horikoshi loves parallels and I do too.
Honestly, I really expected Horikoshi to just kill off Endeavor and Dabi at the same time this chapter. It looked like that’s where it was going. There are a lot of ways their fates could be going and I can see it happening all those ways. Personally, I want them to live at least until Shouto finally gets there. I think Horikoshi is setting up that “Todoroki Family Reunion” he’s been planning since Chapter 300 or something especially with Rei entering the battle field. What happens next is something we’ll have to wait for. I want Endeavor to live honestly. But, I can definitely see Dabi dying at the end because I really don’t think he’s going to survive at this rate. Horikoshi cooked him too well 😂😭.
And finally REI TODOROKI!!! The block or whatever her and her family were being transported in was stopped right below Gunga Mountain last chapter and they were forced to go up to the surface to make sure they avoid Dabi’s fiery explosion. That’s why she’s up on the surface to begin with. I do want to know how the hell she got to the battlefield so quickly though. I don’t see her as a fighter, but maybe she trained her Ice Quirk to glide on it like Shouto does. I’m really curious to see what she does because she does hold some responsibility for how Dabi turned out and I think she’s trying to atone in a way too. This better not mean she’s dying though. I don’t need the Todorokis to deal with more trauma, especially Shouto.
Anyways, there’s a lot to unpack in this chapter and there’s probably more to dive into. Um, I’m glad to see Mr. Compress again like Horikoshi promised. He’s probably still assless though. Where are the 2nd year UA students you promised, sir??? But, yeah, the Todoroki drama continues to be more and more fucked up by the weeks. Please let this family have peace one day I’m begging 🙏.

"Touya should have known that killing Shouto..."
How old was Touya there? Maybe 6, 7 years old? Let's say he was 8 year old, for the sake of it.
I'm gonna repeat this slowly and gently. Because I swear to God I'm scared of how you all talk about little kids as if they were obligated to be in full understanding of his surroundings and identities.
If you tell me a 8 yrs old jumped out the window because they felt lonely, my instinct is never going to be "he misunderstood his parents, poor them, they couldn't express to the kid how much they loved him, he didn't try to..." IT IS A CHILD.
You brought the baby to this world, the baby has no idea how this world works and have no sense of control because you should be teaching them. Along as they are minors, especially if they're younger than 12 or maybe 13 years old, they are your responsibility. Fully.
Those are not workers you can fire. Those are not barbie dolls you get to dress up but they must behave perfectly or you are gonna send them away. They are humans and you are in charge of raising them, of their safety and education.
⠀
If Enji was too busy with his job to raise a kid let alone four, if something was mentally and physically wrong with Touya AND THE DOCTOR TOLD ENJI IT COULD HAPPEN but Enji was not even there for it, if he knew the source of Touya's distress was his fault for trying to crossbreed Rei like she was some cow to get the prized animal of the festival, that is on him.
If a kid kills another kid with his father gun, I'm not thinking "omg that child", I'm thinking "what the fuck is the father that he 1) show the gun to the kid, 2) taught the kid how to shoot, 3) left the gun unsupervised and the kid unsupervised and 4) decided it was on the kid if he took the gun and decided to kill his brother".
With 8 years old.
⠀
Bnha is fiction and we're talking about s topic that has more to do with the intention of a good storytelling than the rant on this post, but once again I swear you all talk with the confidence of a a system willing to see a child in jail.
At least treat Touya as a fictional character and be done with it, but don't ever again try to argue a kids point of view with me.

As a Touya stan I'm frustrated with the new chapter because Enji still mainly saw Touya as some kind of responsibility, not his kid wanting his attention from the very beginning.
When Enji faces Touya, the first thing we know about him is that he notices phosphor, which leads to the question of asking about Shouto's well-being.
Enji's question is rather reasonable since Touya made it clear that killing Shouto is his goal, and it's natural for Enji to be concerned about Shouto, the kid he showed to care the most in the series who could be dead. However, what annoys me is that he showed no concern about Touya's health-I mean, looking at Touya. The whole fandom and the characters in the manga are all wondering how he could be alive. He is basically on his last legs yet Enji here showed zero concern about this fact.
Contrary to Enji's concern for Touya in the previous chapter, he chose to ask the rather triggering question related to Touya's whole trauma of being thrown away by his parents for his younger brother, which is not beneficial for Touya's overall health state at all. Seeing this, I couldn't help but feel that some people in the fandom are way too optimistic about Enji's parenting skills. He is trying, yet his attempt is far from a good try, so I don't think the worries and frustrations are unsupported in the text.
Also, I noticed the final words, "父に課されたのは…" after the last panel. It's not Enji pov but still represents the author's attitude towards Enji's emotions.
父 means father, and 課された is not a very good word here. It means be imposed on, usually used to describe a burden or loan. Thus it gives me the feeling that the next chapter will not be the heart-to-heart conversation about Enji's love for Touya when he was young, just a talk about the responsibilities Enji had to take. No potential affection or caring parents vibes, only some obliged resignation.
I understand that Enji's reactions would absolutely make sense, since Enji was never a kind person in the past and he's not used to the thought of caring for Touya as a parent for 10 years. But as a person whose supposed redemption arc of becoming a decent father is receiving so many praises, Enji in this chapter feels pretty lame and upsets me because he failed to reach that bar again.
Horikoshi's been pretty busy, and I hope he could get the rest that he deserves. I understand that this chapter is short due to his alarming health condition and we will get the next chapter where meaningful things would probably happen between Touya and Enji. However, judging from the text, their upcoming interactions seem rather dim and uncertain to me.
We know that Enji thinks his mission(my translation of 使命, the word he used in the chapter) is to keep eyes on Touya, but keeping eyes on Touya now won't just magically remove the pain of being rejected for over a decade. I pessimistically think it would be just another battle shounen fighting scene, where Enji takes damages from Touya and fails to say anything that would be impactful enough to stop Touya from his self-destructive mental state. It might make a difference as Shouto and his Phosphor did, but it won't be strong enough to totally chill Touya. I just hope the next chapter will prove that I was wrong.
Considering the cultural background, the typical harsh East-Asian father Enji would not suddenly become a person that has no shame in acknowledging his affection and worries towards his son. Like the scene with Natsuo getting kidnapped, I strongly doubt that he would give the interactions western society considered the right things to do.
As for the Todoroki endgame, I can't help but think about Shouto, who genuinely desired to know his brother despite the sad fact they probably shared 0 good memories in the past. Touya 100% knows that his crimes would be a burden for his father, but as a person with very low self-worth, he won’t anticipate his family to want him back as a beloved member. I feel it pretty unrealistic if Enji turns out to be a loving A+ parent and solves Touya's issues all by himself, so I believe the narratives won't just go that far.
Therefore, I assume the father-son fighting scene would end with Shouto interfering. However, another scene of stopping Touya with ice again would be pretty unnecessary. My guess is AFO would do something stupid and Toga would be convinced by Ochako to stop the parade and help her friends, and Shouto might come to help Touya take AFO.
PS: I am not a native English speaker so I might end up writing weird or offensive sentences while not knowing about them. Please tell me if I was wrong or being rude _(:з」∠)_

Passing Peonies - Post War Touya Todoroki - Part IX
Part 9: (2k words)
“Todoroki-san?”
He looks up redecorating the display outside, his thick coat warming him against the winter weather but also cutting him off from seeing the person that has approached him.
He turns to see Shouto’s girlfriend, Momo something.
“Hi?” It’s not like she hasn’t been here before, but she usually doesn’t come alone.
“Hello. I’d like to buy a bouquet. If that’s possible?”
He wants to roll his eyes at that question but refrains from doing so.
“Sure. Just head inside.”
“I-” She stops and looks down at the wooden pieces he’s trying to assemble. He knew the moment he proposed it that building up the display of bird feeders - all looking like miniature homes - was a bad idea. His hands aren’t all that agreeable in the warmth and even worse outside in the cold. But Mari hasn’t stopped giving him the side eye and he’s happy for every chance to get away from her.
“Do you need help with that?” She asks.
“No, it’s supposed to look like that.”
He wonders for a second if she’ll drop it for the sake of politeness but she seems to swallow her nerve.
“I was actually hoping I could talk to you.”
“About what?”
“Shouto.”
He blinks.
“You want to talk to me about my brother?”
“Yes.” She nods fervently. “I- When I came over that one night. I mean, when we celebrated… I think it was both the garden and your six-month anniversary, I noticed something.”
“So?”
He knows he’s less than polite to a possible customer and his brother’s girlfriend, but it’s cold, his hands won’t do what he tells them to do and she’s keeping him from doing his actual job to blabber about nonsense.
“We’ve been together for almost a year now and he’s never looked at me like you look at your girlfriend.”
He blinks. She stares back at him with some kind of nervous determination.
He blinks again.
“You got that all wrong.” He huffs and turns back to the bird feeders. “That wasn’t the kind of anniversary we were celebrating.”
“That’s not what I meant.” She blurts out and moves, trying to get him to look back at her again.
“I’m trying to break up with him.” She blurts out yet again and he freezes this time.
“What?”
“Shouto. I’m trying to break up with Shouto. I don’t think he loves me. I mean he thinks he loves me but I doubt he knows what that really means. And it’s hard, because I don’t want to lose him as a friend, but I also feel like he’s using me as a crutch and that’s not fair to any of us.”
“Why would you tell me that?” He asks her. “I don’t want to know that kind of stuff!”
“But-”
“No.” He drops the pieces back on the display table and rights himself up.
“You can wait here. I’m not the person to talk you out of this.”
-
You look up from the bouquet Mari is clumsily tying together.
“Everything okay?”
“No. Shouto’s girlfriend is here and wants relationship advice.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, I’m not doing that. Could you… talk to her?”
You look down at Mari who immediately starts glaring again.
“Mari can help me with the Display.” Touya offers, even going as far as calling her by her actual name. “My hands don’t work outside anyway.”
“Would that be okay, Mari?”
Mari glares wordlessly until she huffs out a breath and shrugs.
“Get your jacket then.” Touya orders rudely and waits for her to slip into the backroom before he mutters a quick warning.
“Just, don’t listen too closely to what she’s saying, okay? She’s mixed up the reason we celebrated and stuff like that.”
“Thank you for that advice, Touya-kun.” You tell him, your voice almost chiding but your eyes twinkling with mirth at his expense.
-
Mari needs half an hour to build up the birdhouses and even less time to decorate them in the way Touya had planned.
Neither you nor Shouto’s girlfriend have stepped out of the shop and he’s blocked off any customers by “politely” telling them that the shop’s a little busy at the moment.
“What now?” Mari asks when everything is assembled and they can still see you at the counter. He hasn’t heard her speak once so it’s a bit of a surprise to hear her now.
“I’m buying you a hot chocolate, coffee, whatever. The more they’re talking the less I have to say.”
“Wow.” She sniffs. “What a great brother.”
“Like I’d be any help. Boss will at least set her head straight. If she still breaks up with him it’s what she really wants to do.”
Mari rolls her eyes and pulls a pack of cigarettes out of her coat jacket, flicking a lighter to life.
The sight of the little flame hits him sudden and hard, like a fist to the soft lining of his stomach or a blow to the back.
“What?” She asks when he keeps staring at her long after she’s clicked her lighter shut.
There’s a weird tingle in his hands and he wonders if he really hasn’t seen a flame since the day his family brought him in.
“Nothing.” He blurts out, forcing his head away to break eye contact with the glowing tip of her cigarette.
Smoke circles around him and the tingling spreads from his hands up to his shoulders.
“What do you want?” He asks, following it up with an almost panicked: “To drink, I mean?”
“I don’t care.” She stops in front of the coffee shop. “You can buy yourself something, I’ll just stay outside and have a smoke.”
When he steps inside to get away from her he feels like he did with Fukuhara, the thought of her coming after him pouring shivers down his back.
-
When they get back, Momo’s gone and he must look as out of it as he’s feeling because you put the back of your hand against his temple and tell him to go home and rest.
“You don’t have a fever but I don’t want to risk anything.” You say. “Call someone to pick you up, okay? I don’t want you driving like that.”
He slips into the backroom, the sight of the few plants up for repotting calming him down instantly. His fingers trace the leaves of a Monstera as he waits for someone to pick up, but to his dismay, every member of his family seems busy.
His mother calls him back first, promising to send an Uber his way.
“I’ll get home right away.” She promises. “I can pick you up some Takoyaki on the way, you used to love that as a child when you got sick.”
He wants to say that he’s not five anymore but every time he blinks he sees a flickering flame behind his eyelids and it’s hard to say no to comfort when you’re shaken.
“Thanks.” He mutters instead. “Love you, mom.”
“I love you too, Touya.”
-
The streets outside are busy with people starting their holiday shopping, bumping into him as he waits for the car to arrive.
When it does, he slips inside, only to have the door handle ripped from his hands.
“What the f-” Someone slips in after him, falling into his lap and rolling over until they are seated next to him, grinning like a fool.
“Toga?!”
“Long time no see.” She says and turns to the driver with a saccharine smile. “You can drive. We’re sharing the ride.”
“No, we’re not.” He disagrees immediately. “What are you doing here?”
“What does it look like?” She cocks her head to look even more adorable. She’s still dressed like a schoolgirl, in a thick woolen blazer and a woolen skirt. “I am allowed to go and meet friends.”
He wants to tell her that they are, in fact, not friends, but there’s an edge to the look she’s giving him that has him fall silent.
“You can drive.” He tells the driver with a sigh and pulls the door closed, throwing one last look back at the flower shop but there are too many people between him and the window to see anything or anyone.
-
“How long have you been working?” Toga asks as soon as the car is back on the road. “They’re not letting me out of therapy long enough to get a job.”
“About six months now.”
“Really? Did you lie to get out faster?”
“I didn’t lie.” He pushes his elbow into her side, mainly to annoy her, but he’s surprised how thin she’s become.
“Are they feeding you enough?”
“Yeah, yeah.” She waves him off. “I’m just not in the mood to eat all the time. How’s family?”
“They’re doing good. It’s… It’s kinda nice, to have them around.”
“Yeah, I suppose that’s true.”
Silence falls over them.
“Did Hawks… Did he come to your therapy as well? Or did they only do that with me?”
“Oh, you mean the joint therapy? Yeah, but I tried to bite him so they have stopped trying that for the moment. My parents signed a restriction order against me, so that’s that, but Ochako comes in every other week.”
“Ochako.” He furrows his brows, trying to picture the girl. “She always buys blush pink roses.”
“Oh yes!” Toga gleams. “They are for me. I love them. She mentioned that you handle them with care so I looked up every flower shop in the city to find you.”
“Are you even allowed to do that?”
“Why shouldn’t I? It was so funny how you freaked out when I called your name last time.”
“That was you?!” This time he puts her in a headlock and she laughs, loudly, as if she knows that he’s not really intent on hurting her.
And he isn’t, really, which surprises him the most, because this might risk everything he’s worked for so far, but this is also Toga, someone he probably knows better than the rest of his family.
They fall silent again, as he lets her go, but it’s more comfortable now.
“I can’t believe you looked me up. I’m not sure if this is even allowed.”
“Is that a problem?”
“Yeah.” His heart thrums as he thinks of the possible consequences. “If they kick me out of the flower shop-”
“You mean if they take you away from the girl you looove?”
“Oh, shut up, this is serious.”
“I asked, actually. What I was allowed to do if I saw you… It’s a big city but we could pass each other, you know? They said I was allowed to greet you and talk to you but should keep it to a minimum at first until we know how it affects us.”
“Yeah, and sharing my Uber is minimum?”
“You looked really sad standing there, what was I supposed to do? Leave you to rot in your own misery? What happened, anyway? Did you break up?”
“No!” She eyes him curiously and he lowers his voice again.
“No, not like that. Just… Mari, our new hire, smoked in front of me and I realized I haven’t seen fire since we got taken in. Freaked me out a bit.”
“Is it because of your quirk or are you traumatized because you were essentially burning alive?”
The question surprises him.
“I hadn’t thought of the second option.” He admits.
“Well if I’d been burnt alive, I’d definitely be afraid of fire. Also, is Mari that girl you worked outside with? She’s bad news.”
Her voice takes on a grave tone and he eyes her suspiciously.
“What do you mean? Do you know something?”
“No, just a feeling.”
“You could just be jealous.”
“Nah, she’s not that cute.”
Toga stops and stares out the window. “Are you driving home?”
“Yeah. My mom probably shouldn’t see you. Where should we let you out?”
“Can we exchange numbers?”
He hesitates and she recognizes it.
“Never mind.” She tells him brusquely. “We were never friends anyway. You can let me out here.”
In less then a minute, she’s gone.
And he doesn’t know if he should have acted differently.

P.1 — p.2 requested/suggested by @endlessfreaky in the comment sections, it isn't the best but i hope you like it.
Yandere! Romantic!T.Shoto x scarlet witch! Reader x Yandere! Platonic!T.Dabi(Touya)
Warnings Reader is morally grey, reader is done with the todorokis, Reader is unwilling towards Shoto and has more tolerance towards Dabi, quirk cancelling cuffs, reader loves to drink don't drink when underaged kids, the league of villains adore Reader, the LOV knows Dabi identity (before he reveals it in the manga/anime)

To kill a hero
"Dabi! Did you see the news!?" Toga shouted through the base, running towards the older villain. Her eyes filled with worry. "Toga, whats going on?" Magne asked, she hadn't seen Toga this distraught since they met.
Toga saw Dabi lit up his phone. Causing Mr.Compress to yelp in surprise. "That fucking bastard." He cursed, the league of villains (-toga) was extremely confused. "What's going on?" Shigaraki asked, he was annoyed, Reader hadn't played animal crossing with him yet! Even though they promised!
"Reader is missing." When those words left Toga's mouth all moved stopped in the base. Twice rushing towards his friend to try and comfort her. "And I know exactly who took her." Dabi chuckled. "Hey, handy man, are you up for a rescue mission and taunting some pro-heroes?"
But it wasn't just the league planning a rescue mission, no, so where the pro's and the class 1-A students. Only unbeknownst to them, their fellow classmate: Todoroki shoto, is the reason their friend is missing.
Shoto hated seeing Reader upset. The quirk cancelling cuffs heavy on their body. "I can't wait to get out of this and beat your ass." Reader hissed at Shoto when he came down to bring dinner. "Just think off how your siblings will feel, knowing that their dearest brother is worse then their father."
"Well at least you can't hear those spirits anymore." Shoto said, trying to deflect from the situation. Their words hit him hard, they weren't true, reader just hadn't realized how this is for their own good.
"like some cuffs can stop that, I just can't use my quirk, I still feel and see everything related to it. Asshole." Reader muttered. "I need to go back to the dorms for a while. I will bring down a fridge and an extern cooking plate and a make-shift toilet." Shoto whispered, trying to bring up another subject.
"Gee thanks, bring some alcohol too."
Yeah that comment was ignored as well
It didn't take long for Dabi to pin point Readers location, and as soon as Shoto left for a few days pretending to be searching for Reader as well, he made his move together with the league.
"Toga, your going in with me." Dabi told the teenage girl. "Mhm! And if Todoroki returns I will paint him in his blood!"
"I will stand watch." Compress told the Group. "And you assholes better call me when you have them so that we can teleport the fuck away from here." Shigaraki told everyone, he was on the phone since AFO wanted him to stay at the base. "We will crusty bitch."
When Reader felt Touya's and Toga's aura they couldn't but say: "Took you assholes long enough. Now get me out of these shitty bindings."
"what the fuck is that smell?" Toga cursed. "My make shift toilet, now hurry the fuck up, I want a bath and bring down Todoroki Shoto and ruin his image."
Dabi took a picture of the basement. "Evidence." He said when he saw Readers annoyed face. "Surprises me you aren't going to beat his ass up."
"nah, that would be too easy. It would be more fun to destroy his image and make everyone doubt the hero system."
"you evil bastard." Reader laughed amused. "And then I will beat his ass."
When Reader left with the League of villains, and could use their quirk again they decided to add a bit of spice to their evidence.
Their memories
The memories that they will broadcast with Dabi's identity reveal, all they need to wait for is Dabi's dramatic entrance to the search party Shoto had joined and that was being broadcasted everywhere in Japan.
The Todoroki family can't recover from that, now can they?
I know it's shitty, I might edit this or make a part three, since I didn't really know how to write a rescue scene, or a kidnapping scene. Like I wanted to make it realistic but I afraid that if I wrote all the ideas that I had that it wouldn't be fun to read and too graphic, so i kinda made it into a crack-fic.

What do you think about the moment Dabi burned Toga’s home down? This isn’t a way to disagree with you btw, I just see surprisingly little people talking about it
When that chapter dropped, there wasn't too little people talking about it, plenty were, especially in the space I was in, because a widespread take on that scene was that Touya was like embracing the LOV as his fucking family or something
I saw lots of takes I both agreed and disagreed with. When the chapter came out I was already experiencing my hardcore rejection of the LOV found family bullshit so my reading wasn't so sappy of it, but I did read it as a moment of compassion for Touya out of everything else we've seen from him. And even now, when I'm pretty comfortable embracing Touya for the dramatic, generally uncaring person that he is in canon, I still feel that it was meant to come across as a soft moment for him. Too many things surrounding it still support that, but what I don't vibe with is:
"Touya is Toga's big brother!"--no
2. "Touya thinks of Toga as family!"--no where did people even get this take
And then a different type of take that I still feel is stupid:
3. "Touya was MAniPUlaTInG TOGA INTO STAYING A VILLAIN"--also no, what
Reasons the first two takes, to me, are dumb and are completely rejected by canon:
That moment was it, THAT WAS IT. THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE. I took the L on Toga going after Hawks for revenge, I got that part wrong, but I was NOT wrong when I said Toga and Touya are not about to form some dynamic duo and create this revenge plot together to solidify their friendship with the LOV. THAT did not happen. And at this point it's not going to.
Touya burning her house means a number of things now that we have more context on Touya's past, because at the time we didn't.
Touya and Toga and Tomura share similarities in their family lives, but what Toga and Touya have in common is that, unlike Tomura, their families are alive. So they both are left with this untouched grief of losing them, even though they're not gone. And this hits even harder when 9 chapters later we get the chapter where Touya WENT BACK HOME. Just like Toga. Looking at the moment in context, I think Touya was just hardcore relating to Toga, because why wouldn't he? He did the same. fucking. thing. she did. To some extent, he does know how she's feeling more than anyone else probably can.
However, that's where it stops. He relates, and then he burns the house down that holds nothing but painful memories for her. But he doesn't do this to his own house, and we know he could have because he burned that orphanage down, so it's SUCH a mystery why he didn't burn his own house down when he had the perfect opportunity. I wonder WHYYYYYY. Seriously though, I read him burning her house as him hardcore projecting, AND his way of telling her to leave it all behind like he did, because there's no going back, and there's no point in holding onto the past (funny coming from someone whose so tied to his past it's slowly cooking him alive). Toga says she views this as a kind gesture, and I think for Touya, it was kind. But the thing is that Touya and Toga are very different. Toga at that time was still holding onto some semblance of hope. We know this because she went after Izuku as soon as the war started. She isn't suicidal like Touya, she isn't sacrificial like Twice, she doesn't feel that she has NO reason to live like Spinner, and she doesn't want to actually get rid of everything like Tomura. She is nothing like the League, and MAN we are seeing all of that happening in real time now! Touya telling Toga to smile, imo, isn't as sweet and sappy as everyone thinks it is. Because Touya himself doesn't even believe in what he's saying. Touya talks about tomorrow, laughing, smiling. But meanwhile, he's trying to kill himself. So people reading this as this beautiful gesture of hopefulness to Toga (who at the time, still had way more hope in her than any of the LOV), I feel are ignoring Touya's character. He is the last person you should be taking "hopeful" advice from, as he himself doesn't believe in it, and he isn't sitting there hoping to see Toga smile by giving her Twice's blood. That's not what Toga is doing with it right now. Currently in canon she's having an emotional break down because of Twice's blood. So maybe don't look at that moment as this sweet optimistic message from Touya to Toga. But maybe that's just me.
Other things unrelated to just Toga and Touya about that chapter: THAT WAS NOT A HAPPY CHAPTER. Switch over to Spinner and Tomura and what do you see!! BADD bad things happening. AND THEY WERE BAD. We saw the fall out from it on Spinner, we saw what Tomura whose "sake" he was doing all of this for. Just, that was not a happy chapter, it was a melancholy chapter with a lot of hints of despair. The chapter cover is a picture emulating grief, spider lilies, Toga painted like Twice. And it directly contrasts with chapter 342 where it's much more light hearted and all three kids talk about their feelings toward their villains. It's not a happy chapter and it's not supposed to be. And further context with all the chapters that have come out since this support this.
Now, the last take:
3. Touya probably could manipulate people around him if he ever so wanted to, but honestly I don't see his character giving even that much of a shit to do that. He's got his mind focused on one thing and that's it. Why is he manipulating Toga to stay? He's not lol. My own guess is that if Toga did run off, he wouldn't give a shit. In fact, she DID run off in the PLF war and, well, he didn't give a shit. I don't think much has changed. Idk why I'm even entertaining this take because this was just another attempt at both hero standom and the radical villain standom who hate Touya (because he ruins their found family uwu) to make him out worse than he is. So I find this take incredibly dumb. Toga is the most free willing member of the LOV at this point, SHE ALWAYS HAS BEEN. She doesn't need Touya's magical AFO powers to make her stay.
I'm being very harsh on Touya, but he's still my #2 fav, and he's still very special to me and I still have the same ending in mind I've had since 2020 when I started the manga. The thing about Touya is that he really is this uncaring person, because the entire point is that he's detached himself. But what's funny is that he's been separated from his family members the entire story and he's been able to remain detached. As soon as Endeavor and Shouto are in front of him he's no longer keeping his cool (hehe). His fight with Shouto, the way his flames were going absolutely nuts reflecting his emotions reflecting on his past, TELLING SHOUTO HIS PAST CHOICES, and then of course the way the fight came to a halt with the panel of Touya and Shouto crying--those walls are starting to break. But it's happening in the most Touya-way it possibly can. The family he lost and is now trying to destroy with his entire being is what's getting through to him now, even Shouto! Who he doesn't know, and who he's certainly not done with.
So yeah, Touya rant about chapter 341--the night that chapter dropped was kind of annoying because of these 3 takes floating around but we've gotten so much more context on Touya since then that I can safely say this is how I view the scene. It was a relatable moment for Touya seeing Toga go back home, why wouldn't it be, and that's it.
