Dream fangame that will never be made 'cause I'm a lazy fuck part 1: Touken Ranbu/Bungo to Alchemist/Senjyushi(/Twisted Wonderland?) crossover tactical RPG thing
The basic idea is that units are divided into three different categories, depending on which game they came from: Sword, Author, and Gun.
Sword units excel at close range, but struggle with dealing with enemies dealing damage from afar. Only a few Sword units have long range options, and while these are quite limited in scope and require meeting certain conditions, they're pretty good for crowd control.
Gun units, meanwhile, are the reverse of Sword units. They excel at taking down enemies from afar, but struggle once the enemy gets up close. Unlike Sword units, with their limited long range options, all Gun units have close range attacks. The trade off is that these attacks do very little damage, and are best used as a last resort.
Author units are somewhere between Sword and Gun units. All author units are equipped with two different weapons, one usually being long ranged while the other being short ranged. Author units can switch between their two weapons, though this takes up a turn. Another drawback is that their sword and gun options are not as good as a Sword or Gun units of an equal level and stats, however they have access to two weapons not used by these units; bows and whips.
If TWST is included, then there's a fourth unit category: Magic. Magic units have access to spells, which in turn come in four different categories. All Magic units have four spell slots, one of which is always taken up by a spell unique to each unit. The drawback is that only one Magic unit can have a spell at a time; that is, two Magic units cannot use the exact same spell on the battlefield. In addition, using spells (or at least the unique spell) drains a bit of HP.
Each unit category also has subtypes. For example, Sword units come in Tantou, Wakizashi, Uchigatana, Tachi, Ootachi, Yari, Naginata, and Tsurugi subtypes. While the basics of what each subtype does is the same as their type, a unit's subtype determines what they specialize in.
(might add more later, we'll see)

Time to remind myself about the whole "Holy shit, two cakes!" thing because I didn't realize "Hizamaru loses Higekiri and needs to bring him back somehow" was a relatively-common idea in TouRabu fandom. I can be proud of An Old Tale Told Anew for a different reason now! (Namely that I finished it as fast as the idea came to me, a rare feat. :D)

Fanfic rec!!
Its a crossover fic with Fate Stay Night and Touken Ranbu. 5 chapters and the author is still updating!
I'm loving this so much (I'm genuinely scared about any of the sword bois dying cause I love them) and I reccomend giving this fic a shot!
It is easier for fate fans to read it over touken ranbu fans though so be warned... but better if you're in both fandoms I guess. More attachment to the servants that way

Tourabu released an English version of their game and now I’m back to sword men hell. It’s been years for me. I haven’t picked up the game since 2015 to 2017?

A Pokémon au for Touken Ranbu sprung to mind. Outside of headcanons I probably won’t do much with it but underneath is the basic starter swords stuff I thought up.
Tumblr media
Kashuu is from a poor, unremarkable town. Fire Pokémon were heavily relied upon to help people around there survive. He admires contests and shows but isn’t interested in participating himself. He’s a hardworking trainer but fusses too much over his Pokémon’s appearance. He’s a loyal admirer of fire types but tends to only catch Pokémon he thinks are cute. On his travels, he ended up bumping into Yasusada a lot, they have a rather competitive but friendly rivalry.
Tumblr media
Mutsunokami grew up on a Pokémon farm and was always helping take care of them. He travels more for the sake of adventure than to battle but still enjoys it. He’s weak for dog like Pokémon, they’re rather naturally drawn to him as well. He’s always wandering around in forests and mountain areas, he honestly doesn’t lose his way that often but people still beg him to catch a Pokémon that can fly just in case. He’s good at finding aggressive wild Pokémon and always has crazy stories to share from his travels.
Tumblr media
Hachisuka is a rich kid, he was very spoiled and only began really learning about the world through his travels. Initially it’s because he was worried about Urashima eventually doing the same and having no advice to offer him, but he came to enjoy the freedom and softened up quite a bit. He’s drawn to psychic types but tries to always switch up his team. His Grumpig was originally a gift from Urashima as a Spoink and he will very quickly get mad at anyone who says it doesn’t suit him or his team.
Tumblr media
Kasen at first thought he would get into coordination but discovered a competitive better suited to being a trainer. He considers himself an artist first, creating poetry and artwork inspired by his battles and travels. His preference is for grass types especially anything with flowers related to its appearance but anything that he sees as elegant can win a spot in his team. He’s might come off as strict but he’s a very caring and dedicated trainer.
Tumblr media
Yamanabgiri is a trainer who spends a lot of time working hard with his Pokémon that love being active. He tries to shy away from proper competitions or gym challenges due to nerves and his aversion to attention. He’s a lot more comfortable with Pokémon over people but feels bad catching them unless they seem to want to come with him. He doesn’t have a type preference but admittedly feels more at ease with small and fluffy Pokémon.
The five end up running into each other on separate occasions, Kasen and Kashuu became quick friends. Mutsunokami figured Yamanbagiri must be lonely and went out of his way to try befriending him. Hachisuka was honestly curious about Kasen’s creative works and eventually worked up the courage to talk to him about them. Mutsunokami and Kasen always clash but Kasen is very concerned about his wellbeing when Mutsunokami walks off into danger and so they accompany each other sometimes. Yamanbagiri strongly resisted the group at first since Mutsunokami came on too strong but Kashuu was gentler with him often throwing him a lifeline when Mutsu was being too much and he became used to them after enough time. Hachisuka got more into treating and grooming his Pokémon after chats with Kashuu. Yamanbagiri became interested in photography along with Mutsunokami when Kasen talks about other art mediums. Mutsunokami challenges Yamanbagiri every time he sees him after a while since he feels it’s a better way to get to know him than trying to force him to talk.
