Those gentle hands on his chest made him wrap his own arms around the sage's waist, the toudan himself already leaning down to kiss his beloved saniwa when--

"NII-CHAN!"

That uncharacteristically high-pitched "YEEE!!!" coming from said older Kotetsu would've been a hilarious thing to hear if it weren't for the fact that Urashima caught them both off-guard while they were so, so, absolutely so sure that there was no one around. Really.

HE EVEN CHECKED.

"Eh?? Hi Aruji! Didn't see you there! I was just gonna check with Nagasone-niichan if he's done with his chores then maybe we can go fishing with Kamekichi." He looked up to his brother. "Nii-chan? Are you okay? You look red all over, don't tell me you're sick...!"

Nagasone did, in fact, sustain a very dark blush on his face.

"Nope, I'm good, perfectly fine, very much in tip top shape." No you're not, you silly bear. "It's probably the heat. Weather's been weird these days." No it's not, you big silly.

So, before I begin rambling about this TKRB x Servamp thing, I should give y’all a quick rundown on the different types of swords and what the Saniwa is, for those who have never watched the anime or played TKRB.

The Saniwa is a human who can give the “hearts” or souls of objects a body.  Technically, Touken Danshi (also abbreviated as TouDan, it literally means “sword men”) are tsukumogami, or items/tools who have acquired a kami/spirit, and the Saniwa are just helping draw out that spirit.  This is what we, the players, are for the Honmaru/Citadel in game.

Kiwame is a form of a TouDan after they’ve gone off to training.  They have higher base stats (and high caps for their stats in upgrading) and gain a special skill.  Not every TouDan has one of these (ex. neither tsurugi has one).

Now on to the types of swords.  There’s eight in game, and they’re tanto, wakizashi, uchigatana, tachi, naginata, yari, and tsurugi.

Tanto are often depicted as children because they’re so small.  There are exceptions (like Fudou, who is old enough to drink), though they still appear to be pretty small.  They have the lowest survival level (meaning you’ll spend a lot of time with these guys in the nurse’s office) but the highest mobility (aka they’re quick lil fuckers).  They don’t do much base damage, but they have a great crit.

Wakizashi also have high mobility, being the next size up sword from tanto.  IMO, the best part about them is the fact that they can do a double attack with uchigatana, which I think comes from the fact that they’re pretty much “companion swords”.  You would rarely carry just a wakizashi.  They’re usually paired with another sword.

Uchigatana are what we tend to picture as katana.  Like I mentioned just above, they can do a double attack with wakizashi.  They were also worn blade-up.  All five starter swords in the game are uchigatana.

Tachi are kind of like the uchigatana’s big bro.  They’re longer and more curved than uchigatana, and worn blade-down.  The majority of the most powerful swords in the game (such as Mikazuki Munechika, who I’m pretty sure is the most powerful sword in-game) are tachi.  They’ve got lower mobility, but are overall pretty balanced.  Interestingly, Kogarasumaru, a sword considered the “father” of tachi, is labeled as a tachi in the game, despite being thought of as a “bridge weapon” between tsurugi/ken and tachi (and is double-edged).

Otachi (or ootachi, odachi, oodachi) are one of three types of swords I just refer to as “the big bois”.  They’re massive swords (the longest known otachi, Haja-no-Ontachi, is 465cm/148in/12′4″) and most of the human forms are equally massive (Taroutachi is 196cm/6′5″, for example, though Hotarumaru is only 120cm/3′11″ but he’s the exception).  In-game they have a larger range than other swords mentioned so far, being able to hit up to 3 enemies at once.  Their kiwame form gives them the ability to do 2x damage.

Naginata.  Big boi sword type number two.  The simplest way I can describe them is if you decided to slap a katana blade on a pole.  They do feel like they take forever to start doing damage, but once they do they can wipe an entire enemy team in one attack, since they can literally hit every enemy on the other team in one swing.  There’s three of them in game at the time of writing this, and they all have the same artist.  And their artist was either horny as fuck for them or knew the fanbase would be.  Do yourself a favor and look up Iwatooshi, Tomoegata Naginata, or Shizukagata Naginata and look at their official art, especially their Shinken Hissatsu/Awakened art.  They’re also in the big boi category because their human forms are all six-foot-ungodly, with Iwatooshi standing at 203cm/6′8″, Tomoegata at 193cm/6′4″, and Shizukagata at 195cm/6′5″.

Yari are the last of the “big bois” sword types.  They’re, uh...  Well, they’re spears.  I honestly don’t do much with them.  They have higher mobility than tachi, but a slower growth rate (meaning it takes a while for them to do real damage) and less range than naginata or otachi.  BUT their kiwame form lets them attack 3 times in one turn, which is useful.

Last but not least is tsurugi.  In the West, this term is used to refer to a type of Japanese straight, double-edged sword, but in Japan the term tends to refer to a lot of international long, double-edged swords.  There’s only two tsurugi in the game, and they both have unique battle abilities (Shichiseiken gives an EXP buff and Hakusan Yoshimitsu heals).

Now that all that’s out of the way, let’s move on to Servamps.  In this post, I’m only doing the Servamps, and other posts will have the rest of the characters.

Kuro - Uchigatana.  He’s quite powerful on his own, without the need to rely on another to really drive home an attack, but does work well with Mahiru to really ramp up the power.

Hugh - Tanto.  Smol. ‘Nuff said.

Jeje - Naginata.  Very tall boi, but also has the widest range of attack on account of his guns.

Freya - Uchigatana.  She seems to rely on her Eve adding on to her power in a fight, but has the power to do it herself if she needs to.

Lawless - Tachi.  He’s got enough power on his own, and though he does fight alongside Licht, they don’t really feel like they rely on each other for their attacks to have power.

Ildio - Otachi.  Can’t explain this one.  It just feels right.

Lily - Uchigatana.  Most of his battle power feels like it comes from that duo attack he and Misono have.

Tsubaki - Tsurugi.  Found family buff.  Another one I can’t explain, it just feels right.

Perhaps to a man like Matsui Gou – a man who has passed through the hands of many warriors throughout history – six years seems like the blink of an eye or the slowest of crawls from a snail, wriggling its way across the world surface.

Then again, it also depended on how fast the time has gone.

Matsui remembers the day he had fallen for you oh so well, engraved into the metal parts of his blade as a crest would. It does not hurt to think about, oh no, there are only the fondest of moments in his brain. Yes there are bad as well, holding you close or you holding him when the nightmares become far too much for either of you to stomach and push down; forcing them down and stamping over them as you would an ant hill.

He has been with you for oh so long, and it was only right that he gives you something to celebrate it.

Not only your inauguration as a saniwa, but of the love you two share.

It is the wee hours of the morning when you wake, in his arms like always. A groan reaches your lips as you further hide your face into his chest, grasping the sheets of your shared bed and pulling them further over your head; the sunlight being far too harsh for the morning.  

Or…was it afternoon?

You couldn’t tell, really.

“Beloved?” there is a soft whisper from the fanged lips of the Gou sword, vampiric in face and perhaps in heart. A kiss is pressed to the crown of your head, where such an item should lay.

The monarch of his heart.

You let out a small grumble; eyes wired shut by an invisible force – trapping you within a lulled wall of sleep. “Yes?”

And it’s that sleepy little murmur of yours that makes his heart shiver. Ichor freely swimming further and further through is veins, keeping him alive and mortal.  That damn organ always beats faster due to your presence, something he’s always welcomed.

“Happy sixth anniversary.” The whisper is gentle and sweet, dew-like. You slightly stir, opening a sole eye as he kisses your nose; his thumb running over your cheek bone.

“Oh…” realization suddenly settles into your soul, eyes now fully open and staring at him, wide and stars twinkling. “It’s…it’s already that day?” how in the world did you forget?!

A wry smile only forms on the man’s lips, gesturing with a lazy roll of his head towards the calendar on the wall; squinting your eyes, you can make out a red circle around a box that held a number in the corner and little stickers filling the white void (courtesy of Midare). “Yes, you were so excited last night that you waited until midnight, and then you fell asleep.” There is a cute little smile to his lips, one that makes your own heart quiver.

You blink in realization, crimson veins delivering oxygen and energy to your brain and slowly do your nerves kick into gear. Excitement budding at your neurons, you begin to sit up, ready to begin with the day.

But there is a hand at your lower back, stopping you from moving.

“Matsui?”

Gingerly he pushes you back down to the duvet sheets, wrapping the arm now around your waist – eyes meeting yours. His fangs glisten within the sunlight, a smirk dancing upon his lips. “Why don’t we do something that improves blood circulation, hm?” he nips at your lobe, sending shivers down your spine and a pool of heat budding at your gut.

“Only if you desire it, of course, beloved.

ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ: The beginning of a saniwa who is just starting out.

ᴀ/ɴ: I thought it be nice to start introducing my fellow followers to Touken Ranbu just as my friends had. Starting with a very nice sword that I finally gotten yesterday.

"Aruji... Do you really know what you're doing?" Kashuu placed a hand against his hip as he watched (Y/N) work with the device in the citadel. "I have to understand it first so I'm studying it. I heard I can open the gates to the time and close it without any meaningful damage..." (Y/N) spoke softly. "I just need to get better for the other swords..."

Kashuu frowned. He placed another hand on your shoulder as he glanced at Konnosuke. "Even if you are a bit out of touch, Konnosuke is here to help." With a sigh, the saniwa stepped back. "I just... I want to be as reliable as Kashuu is to me. I want the upcoming Toudan to be as their Saniwa." With a defeated sigh, (Y/N) let go of the device. Looking at Kashuu whose back faced the thousand year sakura tree. Following your eyes, he gazed at the tree before taking your hand with his. "Aruji... (Y/N)-sama even if you don't know anything... I'll be forever with you until fate decides we done our part." Kashuu smiled. "Kashuu-kun..." (Y/N) smiled back.

"Focus on me, aruji." Kashuu's voice quivered. His arms held you tightly. "We're almost safe. Please. Please aruji-sama." His pleads filled you with tears. "You'll be fine, we just have to find Yagen-" (Y/N)'s head turned as Kashuu's heart dropped. Yagen's voice was hurt and not only that both he and the saniwa heard the sound of a shattering blade. "YAGEN!" The forced cry of their master alarmed the rest of the swords.

"Tell... tell them to retreat, Kashuu-" He didn't had to be told twice. Ordering the troops to retreat before he noticed that their saniwa had fully lost consciousness. Retreating Yagen's remains was hard with the kebiishi remaining there. However it had been done with the uchigatana. Kashuu had been leading the group as (Y/N) recuperated. Who would have thought it would take so much time?

Without Yagen, their knowledge was limited. Repairing Yagen took a lot of their resource as they had to make up for the parts that were lost to the wind. Not only did he know that Yagen would be reluctant, he wouldn't remember (Y/N) either. The mission had only been to clear out anything that remained from last time, he didn't understand who had attempted to alter the past.

"Is... aruji-sama going to come back to us?" The tantous would sneak into the room whenever Kashuu wasn't around to keep the unconscious (Y/N) company. It broke his heart. He knew how much they wanted to ensure they wouldn't have to worry. The Time Restoration Group had no missions that they could take in order to get someone of a similar practice or lend a hand to their Saniwa. Keeping appearances was hard when all Kashuu could do was worry feverishly for (Y/N)-sama.

"Kashuu-san." Gokotai looked at him. "Do you think aruji-sama will recover?"

"I think they'll recover." He tried to smile for him as the two watched over. "Yagen-kun... Will he remember aruji-sama? Or us...?" Kashuu shook his head. "He may remember his brothers but the memories he made here... are lost forever." Kashuu spoke softly before he stroked Gokotai's hair. The suzu bells began to ring. Kashuu and Gokorai shared a worried look before they met the rest by the suzu bells. Konnosuke sat calmly as he waited for the rest of the people to gather.

The crowd had began to talk worriedly about what was happening as the last to arrive had been the secretary of the citadel.

"I called you here to discuss the absence of your Saniwa." Konnosuke looked at the Toudan. "Due to their abesence the Time Restoration Group has decided to send in their own people to monitor and currently lead this citadel until their recovery is finalized. I let them know that one of our Tantou had fallen in battle and would help us recover him. Is there any questions?"

"Why now?" They all began to ask before Kashuu cleared his throat. "Better now than never, let's be humble with the Time Restoration group. Our Saniwa had been trained by them and it was because of them we have meet aruji-sama."

Everyone calmed down at those words. Recovery for everyone had been advanced and duties daily were encouraged. Monitoring the Saniwa had become easier and improvements had been shown as they were informed of the current waking of their master during their sortie to the Eras.

Now all sat by the bedroom waiting for the Time Restoration Group to exit. Konnosuke stayed by the door before it was opened as Kashuu was given the authorization to enter the room. At the bed laid (Y/N) who remained staring out the open window as the group of medics dispersed. "(Y/N)..."

He kneeled down in front of the bed. "Do you..."

"I remember, thank you Kashuu-chan." They smiled at him.

This is another person he doesn’t know anything about. So he keeps his head low and ignores the glare from the other Toudan, working over the dango until they’re just right.

Okay but, Food Fantasy X Touken Ranbu Crossover.

The cooking swords and M food souls cooking together and sharing recipes.

Long Feng and Nihongou getting drunk together while Hasebe and Realgar Wine drinks tea together while complaining about the former two.

Tsurumaru, Sukiyaki, Ume Ochazuke, and Udon joining forces to prank the other food souls and toudans.

Houchou could finally meet some married women (or just women in general).

The alcohol food souls and alcohol drinker swords getting together drink the restaurant and citadel dry of alcohol.

Wonton and Akashi being lazy buds.

Beer and Mikazuki being old men together.

The toudans sparring with the swordmen/swordwomen food souls.

There could be some confusion between everyone because some food souls and toudans share the same voice actor.

The tantous and children food souls playing together.

If the saniwa is also a master attendant (i’m talking about someone who plays both games) the toudans could probably order takeout from the saniwa’s restaurant (they’d probably order sakurajima cuisine food most of the time).

There's no special occassion but I feel like writing some drabbles. Like last time, don't expect them to be too long and forgive terrible typos and general mistakes since I'm atrocious at proof reading my work. 

This isn't just drabble requests, I specifically want to write some crossover dribbling. The prompts I want to see is character x from a certain series doing something with a sword. No reason to cap it to one sword but more might get difficult depending on the prompt. For all these the other series character will be a Saniwa without going into details even if it would feel unlikely for a character to take up such a role just for the sake of scenario. 

Stuff like "Mahiru Koizumi and Mutsu bonding over photos" or "Reigen Arataki trying to abuse Monoyoshi's good luck" for example. Probably make sure to mention the series just in case characters share names. Stuff like Ieyasu Tokugawa or Okita Sougo react to toudan claiming to be their swords can be fun too. Doesn't have to be incredibly specific but it helps. 

There's no limit to this and the prompts don't have to be too detailed. It's something different I think there can be fun in hopefully you guys will agree. I don't have an end date for this in mind but please do keep your requests for different characters to seperate asks. You can send in as many prompts you'd feel like otherwise. Characters interacting is the main inspiration here but also I don't get the oppurtunity to write for things other than tourabu much. The link is below for stuff I've seen, p sure it's up to date so try not to ask for characters from series that aren't mentioned. Not closing requests during this time btw just felt the urge to offer this.

Never was the saniwa a morning person, especially if he's in one of the rare times that he's comfortably asleep. Thankfully, this has been one of those rare nights, having shared a wonderfully intimate night with his beloved toudan.

Saseki stirs just a little at the hand stroking his hair and the lips on his forehead. At the gentle kiss on his lips, the man lets out a soft noise, something between a whine and a sigh, before curling up further into those strong arms. But of course, it doesn't last long as he's eventually roused from his slumber.

"Mmm..."

The sage slowly opens his eyes, green hues bleary from sleep, before his vision clears and Sengou's visage becomes more apparent. And that earns a soft blush and a smile from Saseki.

"...morning, my love..."

The weight of the world is a heavy one.

It picks at your bones, shoulder bones, with a needle until it gives out. Soft ticks against your flesh and brain and bone, chipping away at everything; which then comes crashing down, violently. A titan of stress, a mountain of multitudes you could never hope to calculate or predict.

It becomes a gaping maw, threatening to swallow you whole. Teeth gnashing against your soul, chewing you up and spitting out your remains; gawking and laughing at your plight.

When these days come, it is Matsui who finds you in your shared room, tucked into your blankets and wrapped in them – a snail in its shell. “Beloved?” there is a soft murmur of your name after his adored title of you, and his rump hits the mattress causing it to dip. His painted nails find your forehead, thumb running over the creases. He doesn’t speak for beats at a time, instead gently tucking himself into the covers with you. He runs his hands over your form, thumb dusting over your cheek bone.

He’s warm.

Warmer than the blanket that covers you.

Matsui holds you close, a kiss against your forehead, your ear against his heart.

Even if it’s just a little bit, just for a moment, he will hold you as long as you need.

To let your heart finally be free.

It’s the least he could do after all, to you who has given him a form and taught him how to love. Love you most of all. He will stay here as long as he must for it.

I got this idea from a TKRB roleplay I’m doing with a friend and I got feels for Sayoooo.

Hi! New fellows and new Saniwa, my name is Vy and welcome to my blog! I make Saniwa x TouDan shit and I got feels for Sayo. For context, Sayo in his past was sold off to earn money in order to feed the populace during a time of famine. Because of this, I think Sayo actively fears someone going hungry. There’s a dialogue of him with Kasen where he keeps telling Kasen to “eat, eat” and not really pushing him but...insisting?  So bam, this was born. Thanks for reading!

In the storehouse, clipboard held to his chest, eyes trained on each box labeled with morsels and goods. A pen in a small pudgy hand, a frown crossing his lips and brows furrowed in thought.

He’s always here whenever he has a nightmare, in the dead of the night or after a nap.

You know why he’s here.

And it hurts.

Why he counts everything so meticulously, marking down little observations of pen on paper. Why whenever he does field duty, he works the hardest. He murmurs something under his breath every time he takes strides – strong, determined, head firmly on his shoulders – towards the fields.

You jolt from your hidden corner, behind the door; peaking past wood to look at the boy who stands there with a flashlight in hand. Dark bags are present under his eyes, his favorite clipboard (you two decorated it with pressed flowers when you first noticed his habit) in his embrace, a familiar pen in hand, chewed and frayed at the end.

“I want to avoid famine…”

“Did I wake you?”

You remind yourself to get him another one in the morning.

“Would you like help?”

“No…I couldn’t sleep.” You answer him truthfully, so much on your mind. Slowly do you stride closer, the boy glancing back down at the paper in his hands. “Is…there anything I can do for you, Sayo?”

The boy falls silent, flipping through parchment. “Just…checking…” he trails off, eyes wandering back up to boxes upon boxes of food. “I lost count.”

The tantou doesn’t speak, he was never good with words – even after being summoned and interacting with the people around him. He’s silent as he hands you a second pen,

“Please.”

You gently take the item from his tiny hands, giving him a gentle grin. “Of course, Sayo.”

The look in his eyes is grateful, a rare and gentle smile crossing his lips – small like he – and disappears the minute his eyes train back on the boxes, focused even more so than the battlefield.

He can control the outcome here, Sayo has a chance to ensure no one goes hungry ever again.

He would never let it happen.

I just remembered my hc about female sword which featured Hasebe, Manba, Nihongou, and Mutsu that I sent here ages ago. Now I want to expand the request a little bit: what if the boys developed a romantic feeling towards the sword (and vice-versa)? How will their feelings develop? And how's the confession if they decided to hook up? Since most BxG requests seems mostly about toudan x saniwa, I'm interested to see how their relationship would develop if they were fellow sword warriors instead.

Hey a quick response here! I’d say it’s kind of just general romantic hc stuff here. If anything, sword boys will have a much easier time accepting feelings for another sword. I’d say the things that influence a smooth run of a relationship with another sword is only their history. If there was something particularly jarring or difficult for them to move around involving being on opposite sides in the past for example. That’s ignoring the more obvious factor such as personality and value differences. Just like I don’t think the partner being male or female has too big an impact in reactions in most scenarios, I don’t think there is too much that can be said for toudan being interested in a sword girl.
