I planned to draw one of these comics👆 for each of the members with Bardock, and I might get to that soon,,

ALSO the first post has their names written in their handwriting style lol

For now here's the dynamic between all of em:

Bardock & Selipa = Straight friend x Lesbian who needs a fake boyfriend to chase away creepy men

Bardock & Toma = Virgin ((shocker)) x Promiscuous

Bardock & Panbukin = Bully x Victim ((yes bardock would bully him like an eighth grader))

Bardock & Toteppo = not much to say here, Toteppo unnerves almost everyone on the team

Bardock: Called Saiyans home and cut us off

Gine: Bardock got the escape pod~

Bardock: In doing so, he blows us up

Gine: Believing tales of the gods~

Bardock: Ensuring his reign never stops

Gine: What a tragic day. What more to say

Both: We don't talk about Frieza, no, no, no. We don't talk about Frieza.

King Vegeta: Learned to live in fear of Frieza's temperance and grumbling. Figure out the best way to avoid the bodies tumbling. I associate the screams of pain with pointing hands.

King Vegeta: Legacy and legions of the family's fumblings. Allied with a God that said our kind will need humbling. Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand.

Raditz: 5 foot 2 frame, slimey like a lizard.

Toteppo: They told me all my hair would disappear. Now look at my head

Prince Vegeta: He told me that the throne at his knees was predestined to never be mine

He told me that my power would thrive, so long as the saiyans stayed in line

Nappa: My leige, King Cold is on his way

King Vegeta: He told me that my son would be his

Prince Vegeta: Third class. I want not a sound out of you.

King V: Is there nothing I can do!

Goku: uhm Frieza

Yeah, about that Frieza

I really need to fight this Frieza

Give me the strength to defeat that Frieza.

Raditz: Oh, your Highness, the emperor's here!! Gets smacked with a tail

Imagine if people worked with OP to make a whole animatic. Or if TFS did another song parody with their voice actors. Jorongbak is a frickin genius.

I like them in theory. I mean duh?? Goku’s dad? Rad as fuck

Squashing him like a bug (/affection). I mean, yeah. Would he let me? No ofc not. But idc

He doesn’t get enough canon focus. He really doesn’t. He got a little screen time in Xenoverse 2 and Super, but they’ve changed his personality so much, and I don’t think Xenoverse 2 counts as ‘canon’.

LEAVE THEM ALONEEEE. How many times have we watched him die to Frieza? In movies and games and stuff? Leave him alone.

No one understands him but me and my circle of mutuals. His personality has been horrible morphed by FUNimation, and then Toriyama himself in Super

Banger design. His blood-soaked headband? Rad af. No I’m not including Super.

Doesn’t get enough fanon focus. He gets some fanon focus, but so many people write him as a tragic hero/loving father and it makes me cry every time. He’s canonically a terrible fucking father.

Like them better as part of a dynamic. I love his dynamic with Team Bardock (Fasha/Celipa, Pumbukin/Shugesh, Tora/Toma, and Toteppo/Borgos). I may not like his changes in Super, but I do love his relationship with Gine.

I know what you are. I interpreted this as “Character is Not Straight™️” and Z Bardock is certainly not straight.

I need them to be weirder. I need Saiyans in general to be weirder.

Transing their gender as we speak. I don’t think Saiyans really have the same gender social construct that Earth does, and I of course love a good trans HC, but I genuinely dont think it really works for Saiyans? If anyone else has any trans Saiyan HCs I won’t judge ofc, but I personally don’t.

I hate them (I think about them constantly). I do ofc think about him constantly, but I would never say I hate him.

They gave me new mental problems. Tragic hero Super Bardock (as opposed to Z Bardock) has certainly given me mental problems. Like from DBS: Broly. He gave absolutely everything and his priority being his two kids? All for Goku to just forget who he is? Genuinely some of Toriyama’s best writing.

I need them to be less weird. No.

Hate all their popular ships. I think the only “popular” ships are Bardock x Gine (which I adore) and Bardock x Toma (which I’m also absolutely on board with).

I don’t get the hype. There isn’t ENOUGH hype tbh.

Autism beam. He’s the most autistic bitch except maybe Goku, which makes sense since autism is genetic, we just know where Goku gets it from. Although I’d also make the argument that Gine is autistic, too.

Field Guide to Bardock’s Crew

I’m trying to get that Bardock story started, which means I have to get these damn Saiyans sorted out.   The story itself will probably help me with that, but until I’m finished, this blog post will have to do.

Toma

Everyone says he’s the “second-in-command”, and I don’t disagree, but I’m not sure that’s ever really been confirmed anywhere.

Wears a white armband which Bardock used as a headband at the end of the TV special.

I think people ship him with Seripa because their corpses were laying together in that one scene, but I maybe I just imagined that.

Funimation dub calls him “Tora” for some reason.

Early pioneer of the “no-shoulder-pads” armor variant.

Larry Fine hair.

Claw marks on forehead.   Possibly infected with Cat Scratch Fever.

Never talks.

Shit, I think I used “Totepo” as a Saiyan name in “Luffa”

Well it was set a thousand years ago so who cares?

But it’s Funi’s fault for adding all the alternate names that suck.

Kind of looks like what Chi-Chi was afraid Gohan would grow up to be.

He’s dressed like one of the Saiyans from DBZ episode 14, and he just put a battle vest on over his caveman clothes.  I never noticed this until today.   I guess there just weren’t a lot of full body shots of him in the TV Special.

Is he grabbing Bardock’s ass in this scene?

I mean, go for it I guess, but this doesn’t seem like the time or the place for that sort of thing.

One of the Kanassan’s zapped his cheek while he was in Great Ape mode.

The Funimation dub calls him “Shugesh” for some reason.

Seripa

Everyone’s favorite.

Wears Saiyan armor with one shoulder strap over a fuschia leotard.

Also her left sock goes all the way up to her thigh, but the right one doesn’t.

And she has kneepads.

I think people used to think she was Goku’s mom by default, but I guess that’s over now.

Criminally underutilized.

I think she might have more screentime dead than alive.

Funimation dub calls her “Fasha” for some reason, and I think it actually stuck because she was the only named female Saiyan in the franchise until 2017.

Her Japanese name is spelled either “Celipa” or “Seripa”.  

I think I’m gonna stick with “Seripa” because it’s easier for me to remember the pun on parsley that way.
