DESCRIPTION OF "GENEPRO★7"

A 7-member unit "Gekidan SEVEN" that is extremely popular amongst the young people. While heading into preparations for the much talked about stage play "Shakespeare Legends", with the addition of a new group member Yamai Keisuke (Miura Kairi), the group's charismatic leader Soga dies.

With the loss of Soga, something in the group starts crumbling: the members start blaming each other for their mistakes, they are disinterested in rehearsals and cracks form in their belief in each other. On top of that, they are told "a certain secret", which causes the wheel of fate to ruthlessly spin out of control.  

Is someone manipulating them? Is it some kind of trap set for the group? A creepy shadow haunts each and every one of them, ridiculing them and mocking them. There is an unstoppable sense of suspicion and impatience.

Synopsis

After the defeat of the demon lord Hadlar, all of the monsters were unleashed from his evil will and moved to the island of Delmurin to live in peace. Dai is the only human living on the island. Having been raised by the kindly monster Brass, Dai's dream is to grow up to be a hero. He gets to become one when Hadlar is resurrected and the previous hero, Avan, comes to train Dai to help in the battle. But Hadlar, announcing that he now works for an even more powerful demon lord, comes to kill Avan. To save his students, Avan uses a Self-Sacrifice spell to attack, but is unable to defeat Hadlar. When it seems that Dai and Avan's other student Pop are doomed, a mark appears on Dai's forehead and he suddenly gains super powers and is able to fend off Hadlar. The two students then go off on a journey to avenge Avan and bring peace back to the world.

Il remake, prodotto ancora una volta da Toei Animation, è diretto da Kazuya Karasawa e sceneggiato da Katsuhiko Chiba (Baby Steps, Tiger Mask W). Il design dei personaggi è ad opera di Emiko Miyamoto (Mahoutsukai Precure!), i fondali sono curati da Ayaka Fujii (Sarazanmai, Dororo), mentre le musiche sono composte da Yuuki Hayashi (Haikyu!! L’asso del volley, My Hero Academia). 

Nella storia, dopo la sconfitta del signore dei demoni Hadlar, tutti i mostri sono stati liberati dalla sua malvagia volontà e trasferiti sull'isola di Delmurin per vivere in pace. Dai è l'unico umano che vive sull'isola. Essendo stato allevato dal gentile mostro Brass, il sogno di Dai è quello di diventare un eroe. Il ragazzo ne avrà l’occasione quando Hadlar verrà resuscitato e l'eroe precedente, Avan, verrà ad addestrarlo per aiutarlo nella battaglia. Anticipato però da Hadlar, che ora lavora per un signore dei demoni ancora più potente, Avan si vede costretto ad usare un incantesimo di auto-sacrificio, ma questo non basta a sconfiggere Hadlar e a salvare Dai e il suo altro allievo, Popp. I due giovani guerrieri sembrano ormai condannati, quando un segno appare sulla fronte di Dai, donandogli improvvisamente dei poteri incredibili che gli permettono di respingere Hadlar. Così ha inizio il loro viaggio per vendicare l’eroe Avan e per riportare la pace nel mondo.

Pubblicato fra il 1989 e il 1996, il manga si compone di 37 volumi e si ispira alla celebre saga videoludica di “Dragon Quest”, ambientando la propria storia all’interno dello stesso universo fantasy. L’opera è arrivata in Italia tramite Star Comics e ha ispirato nel ‘91 una prima serie animata di 46 puntate che ne ricalca solo in parte la trama, trasmessa anche sui nostri schermi da Junior TV e Italia 1.

La saga di JRPG, caratterizzata dall’inconfondibile design di Akira Toriyama, ha avuto inizio nel 1986 e negli anni ha ispirato undici capitoli principali e vari spin-off, oltre a diversi manga, due serie tv e sei film d’animazione, l’ultimo dei quali è “Dragon Quest: Your Story”, uscito lo scorso agosto in Giappone e disponibile in Italia su Netflix. Il capitolo più recente della serie di videogiochi è invece “Dragon Quest XI: Echi di un'era perduta”, uscito il settembre 2018 per PlayStation 4 e PC.

The Adventure of Dai Anime First Trailer, Cast Revealed

The new Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai anime revealed its cast and a first trailer, with Dai voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki.

Square Enix and V-Jump revealed new information on the Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai new anime and game projects on May 27 via a live stream. May 27 is Dragon Quest day, celebrating the release anniversary of the first Dragon Quest in 1986. The stream is still underway, we’ll be updating this article on the go, focusing on the anime part.

The stream featured through live calls Dragon Quest‘s Yuji Horii, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai writer Riku Sanjo. Other guests were present too. Before revealing anything, they both mentioned how anime technology has greatly evolved, so there’s merit in The Adventure of Dai manga getting a brand new anime adaptation.

First we had new information regarding the anime. with Naito Producer from Toei Animation, and Series Director Kazuya Karasawa. A first trailer with footage from the anime was shown. It’s still work-in-progress, hence why even the time count is still on. They did that at the last minute to hype up everyone and have something to show. The anime’s recording didn’t start yet either.

Dai is voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki. Popp is voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga. Maam is voiced by Mikako Komatsu. Leona by Saori Hayami. Avan is Takahiro Sakurai. Hyunckel is Yuki Kaji.

Each seiyuu shared some comments. Toshiyuki Toyonaga considers Dai no Daibouken his bible so he’s really hyped about voicing Popp. He got contacted really late to hear he passed the audition, so he actually though he failed it and was really surprised when he heard back.

Mikako Komatsu read the manga when she was a kid. She read it again before her audition and mentioned how it’s still as much as a masterpiece as she remembers. She was really pumped for Maam’s role and super happy she got it.

Takahiro Sakurai lived through the original manga’s serialization and read it then. Avan left a big impression on him as a great adult. He was really into the audition and did his best.

Yuki Kaji also read the manga when he was a kid. He’d imitate the techniques seen in the manga all the time. He’s really happy to have been picked as Hyunckel’s voice.

Saori Hayami said the original anime aired the year she was born, 1991, so she always felt a connection with it. She’s pretty happy to be voicing Leona.

Coming up next, we got to see an excerpt from the first episode of the anime.

As the anime corner ended, each seiyuu shared more ending words, globally mentioning they’re all eager to actually record for the anime.

Lastly, they revealed eanime will start airing in October 2020, which as they noted, is pretty soon considered the dubbing wasn’t done yet. Hopefully everything will go as planned.
