for the record, in the drama, he made wen lingjao mutilate her own face and kill herself. whatever he did to wen chao terrified him and left wounds/burns over his entire body; we hear an offscreen scream as lwj walks away from the scene, leaving it open to interpretation whether jc and wwx killed him or tortured him to death.  

in the donghua, wen chao gets mauled by by wen lingjao’s corpse, skewered on some sort of demonic energy spike and exploded.

in the book, he first chokes wen lingjao on a table leg, then uses her corpse to bite off wen chao’s dick. he then pursues wen chao and wen zhuliu for several days, and makes wen chao chew off his own legs and fingers and burn off his hair. jc and wwx torture him to death in the end.

book!wwx is so precious to me. the horror of his actions really drives home how deeply the burial mounds/the horrors of war fucked him up. the book and donghua both keep the mystery/ horror genre but so far the drama hasn’t. it’s been more of a... well, a drama. sorry if you’re just now finding out that your blorbo did forced cannibalism
