Hey there! Sorry it took me so long, but I finally got my questions ready for your "Solomonar Chronicles"!
I remember that this series was inspired by how bad "Fantastic Beast" got after the first film. (which I get, the other two were such wasted potential) Is anything else from Harry Potter being used for inspiration for your series?
How did you come up with your character names?
Who would say is your favorite character that you made?
Do these characters get trauma like the ones in "Upon a Star?"
Are you going to do more Draconology Files? That one caught my interest the most since I'm studying dragon biology for a villain in my superhero story.
Would this be formatted like a regular book, or play out like a movie?
Is Solomonar Chronicles like a series with each chapter being an episode, or one large story broken up into chapters?
Why did you choose the 1920's for the setting? Its not a bad thing, I actually really enjoy stories set in that period. I'm just curious.
Will we see designs for the characters some day?
Any major villains coming up we should know about?
Are there other fantasy creatures in this world, or just dragons?
I was also curious about your "Dinosauroids Project" story too. I finished the first story of my "Visitors From Pangea" trilogy, so I'm curious how you would write a dinosaur based project.
In regards to original stories we're making, I'm currently creating one called "SuperZeroes", where its a story inspired by all the CBM I grew up with. Not sure if you're into heroes, but I was hoping I could share some stuff I have with you? At least while I'm still building the world and characters.
Thank you! 🐶
Oh hell yeah, ask away!
I took a lot of inspiration from problems I found in the world-building. If you want an in-depth look at the flaws in the Wizarding World, I highly recommend this video. It’s very long, but very good. The main flaw I wanted to tackle with this series is the whole Statue of Secrecy, and how it’s more harmful than helpful for mages and non-mages alike. Also this is not a Harry Potter thing, but weirdly enough Deadpool and Wolverine had a heavy influence on the story.
I looked up lists of common names from the 1920s and picked out some that stood out to me for first and last names. Except for Atticus and Clara. Those two just sort of came to me.
Either Atticus or Jesse, it’s a tough choice. On one hand you have Atticus ,who’s deeply traumatized and scarred but over the course of the story slowly heals and finding good in the world again. And on the other is Jesse, who’s just an absolute sweetheart and so supportive of his lover.
Oh heavens no…it’s so much worse in this series. Just look at Atticus.
Yes, I have a couple in my drafts I’ve been meaning to work on.
Im hoping to get it published as a real book series someday, so it’s formatted like a normal novel.
More like a larger story broken up into chapters, for the most part.
Mainly because that was when the Fantastic Beasts trilogy was set. I’ll probably tie it into the themes of the story better with prohibition and the non-mage government, but for now that’s it. Shallow? Yeah. But it works.
I’ve been digging through concept art to use as references lately. So far the pickings are a little slim for how I envision dragons, but I still have some stuff.
Edward Donahue. He’s basically the head of the mage CIA but somehow worse (Keepers), is the strongest believer in keeping non-mages and mages separate, and oh yeah basically started all of this by killing William Torrence and burning half of Atticus’ face off. So yeah, not a great guy.
There are plenty. I’m not sure how I’ll fit them in at the moment, but they will appear, because I have some interesting interpretations. One fun idea I have is making fairies more like bugs than tiny humans.
It’s based of a theory originally created back in the 1980s by David Russell which explores the question of “What if dinosaurs never went extinct and involved human-like intelligence?” It’s a really fascinating concept that I’m surprised more people haven’t picked up on. My own story is based on concept art created by C.M. Koseman and Simon Roy. Unfortunately I don’t have a solid story yet, just some worldbuilding stuff.
Yes please
And thank you for the asks!

*cracks knuckles* welp, this gives me a good reason to infodump on my mutuals. here’s what I’ve got so far.
Okay, so to start of I think I’m gonna call this series Mageborns, after the group of people it primarily focuses on. Mageborns are essentially like wizards and witches from Harry Potter. They’re a secret society of people who can use magic through wands. There are also magical creatures, most important to the story being dragons.
The story starts off in 1920’s New York with our gay protagonist Atticus Torrence. He’s your typical down-on-your-luck guy, working a crappy desk job at the United States Mage’s Confederation under a boss and government he despises. His days go by with the same miserable routine of going to work, then the bar, then home, repeat the endless cycle.
Until one day, when he’s approached by a man at the speakeasy named Jesse Lawson, who claims to be building an underground resistance against the USMC. Their main mission at the moment is finding the last of a breed of dragon thought to be extinct: Fletcher’s Viper (name might need some work). This particular dragon was bred by a very old line of mageborns, the Fletchers. A family who has seemingly also died out a few decades earlier after speaking out against the government.
Atticus agrees to help Jesse and meets several others at the head of the resistance. Clara Hawthorne, an old friend of Atticus’; Florence Morrison, a feisty journalist; and Paul Richardson, a wrongly convicted fugitive.
The group set out to find any trace of the dragons to gain the upper hand against the USMC. But the government has caught wind of these rumors as well, and sends their own people out to get the dragons. Atticus gets caught up in the mix, finding hope again in a bleak existence with people who truly love him for who he is.
writers, listen up...
i've fallen out of touch with the writeblr community a lot in the past few years, and i want to rectify that. the community aspect was what made me fall in love with tumblr, and what improved my writing for the better.
the golden days of my writing were when i was highly active and engaged in this wonderful community, but life and work and the horrors of self publishing have overtaken my energy in the past year. however, i have been really struggling with original writing, and i want to get back into the community here.
that said...
you write fantasy with queer characters
are an indie author
post frequently about your wips (taglists are a bonus!)
are queer
are a very active and friendly writer
if any of these apply
please, please reblog and tell me about your wip. gush over it. infodump. characters and ships and worldbuilding and plot, i want it all! this is your invitation to be as selfishly indulgent as possible. let's make some new friends and restore some community!!
boosts appreciated!

tell me what's raisa's relationship with her love interests
hmm, i’d say her only true love interest is alicent as, she’s the one raisa has felt the strongest feelings for. nevertheless, i will give a little breakdown of her pairings.
lord torrence tarly:
torrence was raisa’s first husband. the two married quite young and she remained a ward of house tarly for sometime before they were deemed old enough to consummate their marriage. while she never actually fell for him romantically, the two were practically best friends. their friendship was like no other she would ever have with anyone else. unfortunately, torrence fell ill with a plague of sorts that killed him within days. the two were married for roughly ten years in technicality. raisa’s beloved sister, rhea would perish just two moths later, setting her down a dark path of revenge. trope: platonic soulmates
ser harwin strong:
raisa’s relationship with harwin was perhaps the most complicated of all. their marriage was a strategic one, calculated by raisa herself as a step closer to bringing down daemon targaryen. while no one was aware of the true reason behind their match, it was clear that they did not marry for love at first. if anything, it was “lust at first sight.” the two were physically attracted to each other and thus worked out in that sense. however, raisa’s pride and harwin’s long lasting affair with rhaenyra put a wedge between them. raisa would never beg for love but she did demand respect, something her husband failed to deliver one bastard at a time. although the two had their own child together, raisa couldn’t help but feel that harwin preferred his children with rhaenyra over their son, layn, seeing as he payed more attention to them. this caused her to grow resentful of her husband, even feeling ashamed of him at times. by the time harwin sets off with his father, he and raisa are not in a very good place. raisa isn’t happy with the idea of their family being separated. still, they are able to share a tender moment before he meets his horrific end. in spite of all of their quarrels, harwin’s death hits her hard and it takes her quite some time to overcome it. she also vocally blames rhaenyra for it. trope: toxic lovers.
QUEEN alicent hightower:
alicent is by far the person raisa develops the strongest feelings for in her life. the two share many similarities, similar ambitions, dutiful motives, etc. thus, it’s a no brainer when they get on well from the get go. raisa is a little bit older than alicent, yet the latter’s maturity is an equal match to hers. once raisa officially joins the queen’s court, she becomes one of her biggest supporters (even though she never officially chooses a side during the dance of dragons). i think raisa becomes what alicent once hoped to receive from rhaenyra; that other half to confide in above all others. she needed someone to take over that place and raisa gladly filled that void. they have a bit of a “slow burn” type of love story. the two don’t instantly get together. it takes them each some time to realize just what exactly they feel for one another and just how strong those feelings are. they never officially become a couple, nor am i sure if they will get to act much on their feelings about from supporting one another. still, theirs is a love like no other that burns brighter than any dragon fire that may try to take them down. trope: friends to lovers

Would you recommend the Dj Conoway books? I'm still a beginner witch and have heard that the books are either good but to be taken with a grain of salt, or are more or less full of shit. Are there any books you would recommend?
I have to agree completely. Theres a lot of fluff in there, and you'll know what we all mean when you read them. I wouldnt avoid them completely, as there is some information that can be useful to your own craft. Just be weary, because i noticed sheblikes to TELL the reader EXACTLY what will happen and what to do. Your craft is YOUR craft. As for other books, there is a grimoire titled "Sea Land Sky" by Parker J. Torrence that you might find useful. "Dragons" by Diana Cooper is another that focuses on guardian dragons.

Name: Magdela Ainsley. Usually known as Mags.
Gender/Pronouns: Cis woman, she/her.
Class/Specialisation/Skills: Dual-wielding rogue. Technically a ranger but in actuality she just owns a pet bear. Mags’ main Thing is being good at trap-making.
Race: Human
Nationality/Hometown: Fereldan, from a farm in the northwest of the Hinterlands.
Age/Birthday: Born August 9:06 Dragon, and 23 during Origins
Religion: Grew up Andrastian, without really thinking about it. Still Andrastian, but more aware of other religions now and trying to learn more about the Creators so she can teach her daughter about them.
Sexuality: Bisexual.
Love Interests: Zevran. They get together half way through Origins after an awkward conversation about thinking they’re not good enough for each other, and are married just after Awakening. She’s also had a Celebrity Crush on Anora since she was a teenager, and gets very awkward when she actually meets her.
Family: The family from Kajana’s Human Commoner Origin mod. Parents Torrence and Nansie, older sister Mairi and younger brother Bhradan. Mags is very close to her siblings, who’ve spent a lot of time reassuring her through insecurities and anxiety attacks. During Awakening, Mags and Zevran’s daughter Issella is born.
Friends:  Mags is friends with all of her companions in both Origins and Awakening, except for Sten, whose opinion of her is that she is, impressively, not quite as useless as he first imagined. Other than Zevran and her sister Mairi, Mags’ closest friends are Alistair, Leliana and Oghren.
Enemies: Mags doesn’t really have any personal enemies in Origins (she dislikes Loghain, but he’s more Alistair’s enemy), mostly because she’s worried that maybe she’s wrong about everything, and everyone else is right?? In Awakening, she quickly makes a lot of enemies because a lot of people want to kill or kidnap her daughter. With all the individuals who wanted to hurt Issella either dead or having apologised, Mags’ enemies are now just the Chantry, the Wardens and the Crows as a whole.
Pets: Her bear Moira, and the mabari, who Mags named Calenhad. She’s incredibly proud to have a mabari imprint on her.
Backstory (Out of Universe): I created Mags because I needed to see a hero was like me - someone who’d be pushed into an adventure and then immediately have an anxiety attack. Someone who, sure, might develop a little bit more confidence over the course of their story, but would remain anxious and fairly dependent and very much Not a leader, but who was allowed to be a hero anyway.
Backstory (In Universe): Mags had a fairly mundane life before the Blight, working on her family’s farm and regularly visiting friends in the local village. The most interesting thing that happened was when one of her traps killed a black bear. Mags discovered the bear had a cub, and adopted her due to guilt over killing her mother.
Biography/Game Decisions: Mags generally tried to help people, but also deferred to other people whenever she could. She dealt with Connor by going to the Circle, at Alistair’s suggestion, where she at first agreed to help Greagoir clean the tower of demons, since he said there was no way anyone could have survived. After meeting Wynne and discovering this wasn’t true, she tried to save as many mages as she could.
When Sten attacked at Haven, Mags didn’t fight back and told him he was welcome to take control if he wanted. Sten declared the party were going to Orzammar, to find the Archdemon in the Deep Roads, but other than Shale, the party refused to follow because they wanted to find the Ashes, liked Mags more than Sten, or just thought the whole idea was silly. Sten and Shale left the party to travel to Orzammar, where they were refused entrance because the king was dead and they didn’t have any Grey Warden treaties.
Shale helped find Sten’s sword while Mags found the Ashes, killing the cultists because destroying the Ashes would be blasphemy. They reunited outside Orzammar, were Shale and Sten rejoined the party. Mags tried to stay neutral to Orzammar’s political issues, but as it became clear that she needed to help choose a king, she sided with Harrowmont, since at least he didn’t want her to do something illegal, and Alistair agreed that he seemed nicer. She sided with Caridin over Branka, because seriously Branka, what the fuck. In the Brecilian Forest, she cured the werewolfs and brokered peace between them and the Dalish, on the advice of her party.
Mags never hardened Alistair, and they were both very happy to let Anora be queen. While Mags wouldn’t have objected to making Loghain a Warden, and wanted him to live for Anora’s sake, she left the decision to Alistair, who killed him.
Mags didn’t want to pressure Alistair to do Morrigan’s ritual, but was also unwilling to let him die fighting the Archdemon, and was able to throw grease traps at his feet if it looked like he was about to make the final blow. Which, since I didn’t want the story to end with Mags’ death, meant that soon after her miraculous survival killing the Archdemon, she discovered she was pregnant.
Between Origins and Awakening, she went back to her parents’ farm with Zevran and wrote to the Wardens asking if they had any advice about having a baby with the soul of an Old God, and whether the darkspawn would be after her kid?? The Wardens responded by sending Orlesian Warden-Constable Palorn Kader to help Mags manage Amaranthine, with orders to get the baby off her, bring it to Weisshaupt for study and kill it if deemed necessary.
With Mags being heavily pregnant, Palorn handled Awakening’s main questline. Meanwhile, Mags held court for the arling and tried to deal with Bann Esmerelle’s conspiracy. Esmerelle was assisted by a Crow named Veni Arainai, sent to Ferelden to kill Zevran, who suggested waiting for the baby to be born, then kidnapping her and holding her hostage to make Zevran and Mags surrender. Eventually, Palorn and Veni both decided that kidnapping babies is maybe bad actually and also their organisations suck, so they apologised and long story short, they all become friends. Mags’ daughter Issella was born a couple of weeks before the Darkspawn attacks on Amaranthine and Vigil’s Keep.
At the end of Awakening, Mags defended the Keep after Palorn and most of the other Wardens left for Amaranthine. They met up in the Dragonbone Wastes and came to a group decision to spare the Architect, provided he stayed away from Mags’ child and made reparations to the Dalish for killing Velanna’s clan.
Worried that it wouldn’t be long before they and their daughter were threatened by other groups of Wardens, Crows or Darkspawn, Mags and Zevran left Ferelden with Issella soon after the end of Awakening, only staying around to get married, and for Mags’ family to meet Issella. Wanting to know about Issella’s abilities and unable to contact Morrigan, they went to the Tellari Swamps to seek out the witch of the wilds rumoured to live there. They were accompanied by Anders and Veni, who wanted to join the running away plan to escape from templars and Crows.
Mags, Zevran, Issella and Calenhad are currently living in the Tellari Swamp, where Yavanna is teaching Issella magic, and how cool dragons are. Mags and Zevran occasionally leave the Swamps to visit towns outside, and they’re sometimes visited by Veni and several other former Crows, but they so far remain hidden from the many people who might harm Issella.
Personality: Mags’ biggest trait is her insecurity, but as time goes on she becomes more willing to stand up for her beliefs and tries her best to do what she believes is fair and right. As Arlessa of Amaranthine, she puts a lot of effort into protecting farmlands and villages, relating a lot to the difficulties faced by Freemen outside of cities. She also does her best to learn about different cultures and beliefs, beyond the homogeneous Andrastian society she grew up in, particularly after discovering she’s going to have a half-elven child. While she’s socially awkward, she will chatter on endlessly once she’s comfortable with someone. Mags is a proud Fereldan, with a great respect for Ferelden folktails, the Theirin bloodline, and most importantly dogs.
Appearance: Mags is tall, skinny and gangly. She’s covered in freckles.

Sweet little Apricot arrived at my home on the 6th July 2017. At the time I thought my clan of crystal Dragon skulls had reached capacity, but no, another Dragon asked to join, and I’m so glad she did. Apricot came to me from the #AlasenmatHealingCentre in the Blue Mountains area of NSW Australia (I saw her on their Facebook profile). However, Apricot’s journey started 7 years earlier when her carved Crystal Dragon form was birthed by Ravenia & Raven Youngman in November 2010 at Sandpoint, Idaho in the USA (and prior to that her raw crystal form was unearthed from Minas Gerais, Brazil). So, she has travelled a long distance over time and space to become a member of my Dragon family! . . . . . #paganism #southernhemispherepagan #aussiewitch #australianpagans #paganaltar #witchesofinstagram #witchythings #draconicwicca #dragonwitch #crystalmagick #orangecalcite #orangecalciteskull #dragondreamingblog #topazdrachen
“By the power of the Dragons, may this circle be blessed, cleansed and sanctified.” To heal a much-loved doggo, the circle was cast, my personal Dragons (and others who were willing) were asked to participate, meditation/trance happened, energy was raised and sent to where it was needed, thanks and farewells to the Dragons were attended to and the portal was closed. . . . . . #witches #southernhemispherepagans #australianpagan #australianpaganism #paganaltars #witchy #draconic #draconicmagick #crystaldragonskull #crystalhealing #crystalgrid #crystalhealinggrid #dragonenergyhealing #dragonhealing #spellwork #spellworking #topazdrachen

Meet Arandorn, my labradorite crystal dragon skull. The being which resides in this crystal carving has a very gentle energy, yet there is great strength there as well. With some of my other crystal dragon skulls I get a very definite impression of gender but with Arandorn the closest description I can come up with is an effeminate male or a masculine female – either both or neither – all genders rolled into one. Some people seem to think that dragons must be either male or female but I believe that, like Arandorn, they can be non-binary. And who’s to argue with a dragon? They are what they are. Arandorn is a very intriguing individual!  . . . . . #paganism #southernhemispherepagan #aussiewitch #australianpagans #paganaltar #witchesofinstagram #witchythings #draconicwicca #dragonwitch #crystalmagick #crystaldragon #crystaldragonskull #crystaldragonmagick #dragonenergy #dragondreamingblog #topazdrachen

HC’D INFORMATION
they are a well known and well renowned as a bookkeeper/bookie in kings landing, but also works covertly in the illegal betting rings for places like the fighting pits and for the various commonfolk who might like games of chance
most likely someone of high birth, not necessarily a nobleborn, but wealthy or middle class person who is ambitious and book smart enough to run two simultaneous businesses
their face and name isn’t known in the illegal circles, rather they are known by the alias ‘the crimson coin’ as they arrange for those who don’t pay their debts to be found in a bloody (not necessarily dead) fashion with a gold dragon under their tongue as punishment and warning
in legal rings, they have a public and legal business that runs in kings landing, and caters to all the different games of chance for everyone who has the coin to spend
they would have begun running (or creating) the business seven or eight years ago, and would likely have at least 100 people under their employ, but few very close and trusted assistants or apprentices that they likely trained themselves.
SUGGESTIONS/IC CONNECTION TIPS
they would be welcome in certain noble and wealthy circles, having well established themselves in westeros and in the rungs of the higher community
it’s definitely possible they are intercontinentally travelled and came from across the narrow sea before setting up the base of their business in kings landing
it is possible they inherited the business or were an apprentice to the former owner/operator and were trained for this position if they are on the younger side
would work with, and likely know the NPC charlyse - either through the alias or through their actual legal business
would also most likely know/know of NPC petyr stone and lord morrec clegane as they are both former regular and popular underground pit fighters, and now infrequent fighters.
↳ personality.
feel free to elaborate on their personality here, based on the information you gave us above! for example - how do they react to people? how do they approach life?
technically they would be very charming, two-faced (able to run a legal and illegal business at the same time) and highly intelligent, likely slightly paranoid due to the business. they would be highly ambitious, and possibly money-hungry or money-motivated
they would have to be ruthless in terms of what they do to people who don’t repay their debts to the bank of ‘the crimson coin’
↳ lannisters ruling.
why are they in kings landing, what are their thoughts on the current ruling family, have they been to the capital before? - this section is basically to understand their attitude about being in kings landing.
completely UTP !

Style to Burn: Featuring Anna May Wong by R. Emmet Sweeney
The career of Anna May Wong is defined by what was denied her. Passed over for leading roles in favor of white actors, most egregiously for THE GOOD EARTH (’37), she was instead shunted into stereotyped “dragon lady” supporting parts for the majority of her working life. And yet her image endures despite it all, for she could imbue even the most clichéd character with a calculated cool to rival Marlene Dietrich, as she did so memorably in SHANGHAI EXPRESS (’32). FilmStruck has gathered seven disparate titles in its “Featuring Anna May Wong” theme, from which I will focus on two that spanned her career – PICCADILLY (’29) and IMPACT (’49).
Anna May Wong was born as Huang Liu Tsong on January 3, 1905 at 351 Flower Street, close to Los Angeles’ Chinatown district. Her family were third generation immigrants – both sets of Anna May’s grandparents had arrived in California by 1855. Her father Wong Sam Sing operated a laundromat, the Sam Kee Laundry, which all the children, including Anna May, worked at in some capacity. According to ANNA MAY WONG: FROM LAUNDRYMAN’S DAUGHTER TO HOLLYWOOD LEGEND, by Graham Russell Gao Hodges, Anna May first became interested in movies at the age of nine, when she used a tip from a laundry delivery to go to the cinema. After that she would often sneak out of school to go to movies, forging excuse notes for her teachers. She became especially obsessed with THE PERILS OF PAULINE (’14) serial, in which Pearl White would perform spectacular stunts to evade capture.
Tumblr media
Anna May’s first appearance on film was as an extra in THE RED LANTERN (1919), a Chinese-themed drama starring Alla Nazimova. She remembered not having any fear the first day on set, “because I had acted in front of myself every day…so when I acted, it was a wonderful feeling, as though I was just playing myself.” Her first big break was getting cast in the lead for THE TOLL OF THE SEA (’22) at the age of 17, a Madame Butterfly adaptation written by Frances Marion that was one of the first two-color Technicolor features. This then led to one of her most famous early performances: a Mongol courtesan/spy in THE THIEF OF BAGDAD (’24). For the next four years she would only receive supporting parts, never a lead. This was in part due to the strictly enforced policy against showing mixed-race romances on-screen – Anna May could not be seen kissing a white man.
So, she was eager to break out from Hollywood and gladly signed a contract with German producer/director Richard Eichberg, who took her on a European tour. This led to the E.A. Dupont production PICCADILLY, where Wong plays a dishwasher who is discovered by the manager twirling in the washroom. She is hired to dance as an opening act and quickly becomes a star. This causes some serious jealousy from the show’s supposed leading lady Mabel (Gilda Gray), especially when Wong flirts with the manager Valentine (Jameson Thomas). Thus, occurs the requisite deception, intrigue and murder. It is directed by Ewald Andre Dupont with great flair and experimentation. He puts the camera everywhere, from hopping a train to a POV shot from inside Wong’s eye and even shot-reverse shot sequences are an event, with long panning shots building anticipation between each reaction. Even when the melodrama becomes predictable, Dupont is not. And Wong shines brightly in the role of Shosho, aided by some remarkable costumes (the designer is uncredited) – the one that makes her a star is a “Chinese” themed outfit that makes her look like a stylish and sleek pagoda. It would be ridiculous on most other actors but Wong could make just about anything look good. It is not simply that dresses sit well on her, but the attitude she expresses through each outfit. It is something to do with absolute control – she adapts to each piece of clothing and positions it as a weapon. She is her own distancing effect, daring you to approach – she is like a more dangerous Louise Brooks.
The Shosho character is very aware of these gifts, telling Valentine early on that "I danced once before in Limehouse but there was trouble, men, knives....” But she doesn’t care, because the knives don’t get turned on her, just between the men. The difference in PICCADILLY is that it is Mabel who is the destabilizing force, desperately in love with Valentine and watching him melt for Shosho, who is using him for kicks (sadly a kiss between Shosho and Valentine was cut out of the film to please U.S. censors – Wong could never truly get away from her country’s racism).
Wong could have made a career out of roles like these, but it wasn’t meant to be. She eventually returned to Hollywood, and back to the same stereotyped supporting parts. When THE GOOD EARTH came along, she was desperate for the part – which was given to Luise Rainer (who was white). Rainer would go on to win a Best Actress Oscar. Frustrated and angry, she finally stopped working after LADY FROM CHUNGKING in 1942.
Tumblr media
She returned for a small part in the film noir IMPACT (’49), presumably to help pay the bills. It is a bit part as a maid named Su Lin, who is unwittingly enmeshed in a murder plot. She works for Walter Williams (Brian Donlevy) and his wife Irene (Helen Walker). Irene is having an affair with Jim Torrence (Tony Barrett), and they are plotting to kill Walter and take his sizable income. Su Lin overhears an argument between the two, only to discover days later that Walter has been declared dead. However, Dorothy Davenport and Jay Dratler’s screenplay adds mystery and intrigue to the film as deception and romance complicates the situation.
Though the film has its limitations, Anna May Wong is improbably affecting as Su Lin, a loyal employee riven with doubts about whether going to the cops would help or harm her former employer Walter. She only gets a few scenes but they are all imbued with sadness. Seeing her early on—carrying a tray of drinks in the background wearing a qipao— it is as if she were back on the set of THE RED LANTERN doing extra work. As if she had never stolen THIEF OF BAGDAD out from under Douglas Fairbanks or wooed all of Britain in PICCADILLY. When she does get a chance to speak, it is with a weariness and resignation that says it all.

Hello! Torrence anon here! Not saying it’s connected but right after I read your HC list for Danny…the majority of my symptoms went away. Your writing could very possibly have magical healing powers! Regardless, it was great to have some fluff to snuggle up with while I was home from work the other day. Fantastic as always! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to fulfill my request, hope things are going well for you and you’re having if not a good week then at least an okay one! This is a silly question for funsies not related to writing but if you could have any kind of fantasy animal for a pet, do you know which one you’d want? I’d probably pick a Jackalope or a dire wolf!
Hello there! I'm so happy to know it helped you and that you're feeling better, Torrance Anon! (It would be hella neat if my writing actually had such powers, fsjfhdljhf-) :D <3 Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it. <3 It was my pleasure, really! Aw, thank you so much, yeah, well, it started out really badly, but today was pretty okay, at least. So I'll take it. :) Ijdslkkjsl, oh!!! I've always been weirdly partial to dragons, so if it was possible to have a pet dragon, I'd absolutely want one! Great picks on your behalf, too! Those would be so amazing as well! Thank you for the fun question. <3 Take care and have a good (or okay) rest of your week, Torrance Anon!!! <3 :) <3
