Adrian’s mother’s health is deteriorating. He thinks it’s a small illness that she’ll get over soon, and has no idea that his mother is actually dying. Aracelia has kept it a secret from him because she knows her son will put everything on hold to take care of her, and she wants him to focus on fulfilling his duties as a Duke, because he’ll have to manage the estate alone when she passes.

Adrian has no idea that his biological father paid Catalina’s family to have their daughter betrothed to him. He thinks their meeting was a happy coincidence that led to love and him proposing, he has no idea that it was all orchestrated by his father and Catalina’s family. Even though he couldn’t associate with his bastard son, Adrian’s father still wanted to see him married and happy. The engagement fell through because Catalina’s family decided they could aim higher i a match for their daughter, so they returned the money to Tobias Calvierri.

He was born Adrian Flint, under the impression that it was his father’s surname. When he met his biological father and was told he had to take the Calvierri name to be acknowledged as his son and continue the family line, Adrian was furious, but did it for his mother’s sake.

Aracelia Flint worked hard her entire life, so when the opportunity came for Adrian to earn a title and wealth, he took it for her sake. Her health was starting to deteriorate, and Adrian wanted to use the wealth from his father to provide the luxurious lifestyle he felt his mother deserved.

Because his mother worked in a tavern, that was where Adrian grew up. Collecting empty glasses as a young boy was his first job, and he ended up working there as a bartender when he was old enough.

When he inherited his father’s wealth, the first thing Adrian did was buy the tavern he had grown up in. Despite the hard work and long hours, both Adrian and his mother enjoyed working there, and he bought the place for sentimental reasons.
