   Lexis clenched his teeth together hard enough to produce an audible grinding as he tried to properly wrap his left hand. It would be more sensible to ask for help when he’s stuck working with one hand in a building full of colleagues, but he had never been accused of knowing how to ask for help. The mental self-reassurance felt hollow. Lexis finally pulled out of his own thoughts when a large, looming shadow was suddenly robbing him of his light.

“My first heartbreak, shit it was a long time along. Honestly I think it was when I was sixteen. I wasn’t sure of my sexuality but I knew I did like girls but I I knew I liked boys too. There was this boy in my biology, he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed but he was sweet and good looking. So one day we suppose to work together on a project. It was him, another girl and myself. She had strict parents so she wasn’t allowed out much. So it was just him and I, doing most of it. We became close friends, and it wasn’t long when I had feelings for him. Mind you when I was in high school I looked nothing like I do now. I was a skinny little nerd. But anyhow I told him how I felt and he more or less laughed in my face. He was gay but he didn’t like the way I looked. Yeah it took me awhile to confess my feels for anyone after that.”

“That same guy. I was young and silly to think he only had eyes for me or that I held a special place in his heart. A week after we did it for the first time, a mutual friend of ours told me that she saw on a friend of mine’s phone that there was a message from him. When I asked the friend, he confessed that the guy tried to hit on him. Friend said he didn’t do anything, and I believed him, but it still hurt.”

how did you choose your alias? what were some other options?

“I wanted something simple. few syllables, but uncommon sounds, so I’d be less likely to get confused with someone else in a call-out, or mid-fight. and… nightshade was on the table, because florist, plus the dark stuff. anything with ‘shadow’ was out. wanted one word, if I could.”

Going on missions with Jon when they first started was tricky. Because the way that Angel utilized his powers usually included harsh weather conditions, dark skies, and other meteorological tempest. Which had been a known weakness to Jon, but they learned how to work around it and now they were two of the best teammates on a team together. Uri was one of them, opting to always come to the tower as the 'resident  mechanic'. He of course still lived at home with his rather large family, but they were always focused on something or another. It would have been too suspicious though if he moved out. His parents would have wanted to see the place so they knew where to barge in at any time without prior warning. After all, privacy is only given to married men and women during their marital duties. Meaning Uri had none at home.

Here though, he could relax. Yes he spent time alone, but the others were pleasant enough to actually interact with, not giving him the pressure to get married. Still closeted at home, Uri could be himself here. At least in some ways. He did find a lot of the guys here attractive, but he knew not to act on it. Compared to a lot of abilities the others had, Uri's felt like his wasn't up to snuff. So he had to make up for it in every way he could.

"Same bike, new parts. Also cleaning some old parts too. Gotta make sure I catch everyone's eyes, and being muddy won't help with that,' he said as he smiled over at Torque. Damn was the man hot, but he was also a good leader. Definitely never made Uri feel less than, just hot and bothered. Good thing the resident telepath wasn't there.
