*sigh*  Looks like it’s time for another production update.  My next “big reveal” is very close to finished, but something unexpected slowed me down.

And you’ll never guess what it was this time.

That’s right -- I managed to stave it off this long, but COVID-19 finally made its way into my system.  Who would’ve guessed it?  Who would have guessed it?  😏  But hey, better that it happened now rather than a couple years ago, am I right?

I believe it’s reasonable to guess that I’ll finally have it done within another week, but for now...

today's song is not an original vocaloid song, but a vocaloid cover of a song that you probably know, tora_v4's gokuraku joudo , because that's just what i needed, isn't it? an already addictive song covered by the addictive robot voice

it came to mind because this song and dance got stuck in my head today, and tora_v4 has always been known to be reeeeeeally good with tuning....like she sounds so natural and real (+ their mixing and vocal layering.. incredible)

i. do not actually know that song! it's got a very nice instrumental <3 and miku sounds really good... the mixing and tuning and layering is like. chefs kiss. so good <3

Here's some of my favorite examples of KAITO tuning!

Patchwork Staccato by toa , cover by TORA_V4 (A very talented and versatile user of voice banks! They make great covers.)

Thousand Year Solo by yanagi-P (TORA_V4 also has a good cover, but I prefer the original just on account of how I feel like it plays into the unnatural way KAITO can sound, and I also like how lofty it sounds, plus I'm more nostalgic for it. I love the drums in this concert cover of it.)

Snowman by halyosy (I love the way it just sounds so classically KAITO, KAITO often has a very natural "choppy" sound, and this is a song I think that uses that choppy sound well to add to the flow and rhythm of the lyrics)

Bad ∞ End ∞ Night by ひとしずく×やま△ (Hitoshizuku_Yamasankakkei) (This applies to any of the Night ∞ Series, but this is my favorite song in it. Although he's not the main singer, I think the artist uses a good way of making KAITO sound uniquely theirs and still like himself)

Ohedo Julia-Night by Mitchie M (I mean, how could I not include this? Mitchie M is one of the most talented vocaloid producers and mixer. I've never heard KAITO used in such a way since a lot of his singing is more on the rapping side/both singing and rapping. And it can be very hard to make that sound good with any vocal synthesizer! KAITO's role in Seraphim On The Ring is also incredibly good, although I'm not listing it since his role is proportionally minor to the other Vocaloids in the song.)

Flyway by halyosy (Okay, maybe I'm biased because I love songs that use both Len and KAITO or male voicebanks. I prefer halyosy's older tuning of KAITO, but it sounds very smooth without sounding too weird in this!)

番凩/Pair of Wintry Winds/Wintry Winds by sigiotositeP (There's a 2019 version iirc, but I much prefer the older version. With a lot of "updated" versions of vocaloid/vocal synth songs, they strive for realism which often makes the tuning and mixing lose its charm or just sound awkward and unnatural in a bad way. I'm also biased for any songs that use MEIKO.)

義翼/Giyoku by Kasamura Tota (Probably the most unique KAITO tuning I've ever heard!)

erase or zero by Crystal-P (music) and bestgt (tuning) (Okay, I don't like the tuning as much, but I do like a lot how it works for the song, and how it works with Len! Also, I love this concert cover of it.)

This is non-exhaustive, but I just think that, as a whole, I prefer songs with KAITO that don't try to ignore or work against the way he sounds. Also, I truly miss how old Vocaloid and vocal synth songs sounded, with many of them having either more nostalgic, choppy, unnatural but not uncomfortable, or unique tuning.

The world if there were people who actually knew how to make KAITO sound good and play into his voicebanks
