been having thoughtts about dragons in g/t recently. i dunno why i cant get it out of my brain.
more specifically, a dragon slayer whose goal is to defeat fearsome beasts and keep their kingdom safe.
Somehow, they're cursed to become a dragon. Maybe they piss off a witch or pick up some enchanted item. Either way, they're now the very thing their people fear.
They weep every day, watching the kingdom from afar. They can't get too close anymore, not without being shot at by tiny arrows.
They just wanted to be a hero, someone to be brave for the people who couldn't be. However, now? They've been forced to give up hope on those aspirations
because now they are the one being woken out of their slumber, met with blades and fire. They are hunted. No one recognizes them anymore, not as the person they once were. In their people's eyes, they're a giant, ferocious monster.

Speaking of fearplay, a top tier fearplay trope you’ll have to pry from my cold anemic hands is ✨ tinies getting cornered ✨
Tinies ending up caught between a literally rock and a hard place, having ran in such a blind panic they didn’t even realized they were trapped until it was too late. Now they’re stuck, uselessly pushing and clawing at the blockage to no avail as the giant’s shadow looms over them. Back against the wall, all they can do is watch as their captor closes in on them
Tinies physically cornered entirely by the giant, be it their arms caging them in or their hands slammed down on either side of them, perhaps even a tail or wings. Everywhere they look, all they can see is the giant, too frightened to even push back against their confines because touching the appendage sounds even worse, though clearly inevitable.
Tinies that are injured or running on fumes, desperately clinging to the last bit of adrenaline coursing through their veins to outrun the giant hot on their heels. Not that they’ve been able to run for a while, anyways. In fact, for the last twenty minutes, they’ve been stumbling and disoriented and damn near crawling to get away, but the giant always keeps two steps back. It’s not that they couldn’t grab the tiny at any point during this chase, it’s that they simply like to watch how stubbornly this little thing refuses to give up. That, and to ensure they wring out every last drop of strength for the time being to ensure there will be no struggles when they are scooped up shortly thereafter
Tinies holed up somewhere that they thought would be safe, that they had always considered safe, especially after a run in with a giant and darting into the confines for shelter. They listen with bated breath as all goes silent…and then hands start ripping into their safe haven. Hands, claws, teeth, what have you, all of it effortlessly tearing an opening as if it’s tearing into a present. The tiny can only hope they find a way out before the giant finds a way in, but as soon as the tiny is in sight, it’s a losing battle
Tinies who are confident in their escape, who have done this borrowing trip a hundred times, who know these woods like the back of their hand, who have the most powerful enchanted weapon of all. This time, it would appear they flew too close to the sun, because their usual exit is completely blocked. Scratch that, their only exit, then one they were relying on for the entirety of this fight, is completely closed off. All luck and bravery they had in the face of the rapidly approaching giant is gone in an instant as they’re left staring at was supposed to be their safety net, oblivious to the hand coming down behind them

unaware fearplay is such a top tier trope, like when a giant walks by a tiny without paying attention so it comes off as stomping by default and the tiny has to dive out of the way. especially if they find out later and apologize a million times to the tiny omgomgomg
Oh HELL YES- giants that forget just how big they actually are are the best 👀🥺🖤 Of course they'd never hurt a Tiny, but they accidentally scare them more often than they realise!
I love that idea too of when they later notice how much they unintentionally scared the Tiny, they apologise as much as they can (gently cradling the Tiny, trying to speak quietly and not being able to take their eyes off of them) 😭🥺🖤

a top tier g/t trope in my opinion is tinys knowing the way giants act around them isn't thier natural behavior. Thier voice around the tiny is low and soft thier movements refined and thier touch gentle. I think the tinys appreciating the effort the giants go through for them is sweet.
I imagine it's also kind of jarring to see how a giant behaves with a tiny around vs without a tiny around. Like imagine your a giant and you've only ever seen another giant friend with thier tiny partner or friend. And now it's just you and them and thier different, not in any big super obvious ways but in more subtle ways. They talk louder, they gesture with thier hands more, thier movements are less precise almost clumsy in comparison.
Ooooh, this is good, yes, that Duality™️
As the resident fearplay expert, I'm more of a fan of this trope in that kind of scenario: a giant who is known for less than savory actions, someone who might even be outwardly cruel/violent to others (or at least just indifferent), but for some unknown reason absolutely head over heels for this tiny they randomly came across. No explanation, nothing, just a softhearted mess over a tiny who only knows the giant's reputation
It's just so [chef's kiss] seeing a giant threaten to annihilate someone one second only to turn around and pepper happy kisses over their squirming miniature companion, and then go back to trying to kick everyone's ass who points out the polarizing behavior
